Great place to see a band !!!! Friendly staff and sweet video games, lots of classics. The sound system was great, and the acoustics were good for such a small space. I heard the food is amazing, but I did not get to try it. Will be back for those pizza bagels. Do not skip this place if a band you like is playing here !!!

I love how many different things come here. There's going to be a show for everyone at some point. Folk punk, metal, electronic, you name it. On top of that, they do a great job of bringing in podcasts doing trivia nights and movie screenings too. They also have a great selection of beers, the food's pretty tasty, and it's all reasonably priced. X-ray arcade is hands down the best venue in Milwaukee to see a live show. ??

Loooved this venue. You walk in to the L-shaped bar, a few arcade games on the left, the stage in the back on the right. A set of gendered bathrooms right by the stage and patio, with a pair of gender neutral bathrooms by the main doors. Street parking was easy enough even after getting out of work late and missing the first opener. Small enough and ticketed perfectly. Despite being a sold out show, I feel like I had a great view from the back row. Staff were friendly, kind, and prompt. Can't wait to come

creative mornings rule! xray rules. love the staff, love the shows, love the events very creative uses of the space they have. would recommend!

Super cool place. Great bartenders and good sound system

Fun venue for live music. Good variety and quality of arcade games, but not a high quantity. Decent sized bar. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Love X-Ray for shows! Great sound, atmosphere and staff! Also love the free water available! If I could make a small suggestion though. When there are photographers at shows taking pictures unless they are exclusively with the band it would be nice if they only took photos for the first two or three songs and should be limited on how much they use flash, as I felt that myself and other concert goers around me were not happy with getting blinded during the show I was at. Other then that, love X-Ray!!

I've been here for 2 events and had a great time! The owner is very nice, brings great vibes to the place! Looking forward to another concert here soon!

Great place with awesome staff. Went for a pink show and even though they were quite busy the bartenders were completely on point. X-ray sports one of the finest punk rock bathrooms that side of the Wisconsin border. Enjoyed the show and enjoyed the remarkable service. Definitely check it out if you're every in the area and in the mood for a place with a very cool atmosphere.

My first time here. We went for a show. Fun vibe with great people working. Everyone was very friendly. I got cheese curds. They came out very fast. They were good. I have heard mixed reviews on the 'main course' food items. I'd definitely go back

Came here to see an all ages music event with my kids and had a blast! I love the atmosphere and it was great to play arcade games in between band sets. It serves well for bands because of the acoustics and intimate setting regarding the size of the venue!

X-Ray Arcade is the perfect small venue to see your favorite bands. They draw nationally recognized musicians as well as so many fantastic local acts. Get your tickets. You won't be disappointed.

Nice place to hear live music, friendly Staff

Great music venue! Surprisingly good acoustics for such a small and intimate space.

Haven't been there in a few years, since it was the metal grill I believe. They have added an outdoor section that was nice for in-between bands. Saw Elder last night and they were fantastic and the sound was good. Used to app Dice to get the tickets and that worked out really nice, easy to use and safe. Would definitely go back again.

Always a solid gig at X Ray. Prices are pretty reasonable for the size of the bands they get rolling through here, definitely one of the better actual venue venues for punk/metal in MKE

Came here for the Tigernite show, and it did not disappoint! Fun place with good vibes ONLY. We had fun playing the games. I enjoyed their NA selection!

I went to see Stephen Stanley at this bar. It was a great atmosphere for a concert. The sound inside was great and the people who work there are great people.

I was pleasantly surprised attending the show at this awesome little bar tucked into a blue collar neighborhood outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For being a small venue it had a decent-sized stage (not huge though), and I thought it was a great place to see a show. Just be careful if you're parking your car near the venue on the street and you have Illinois plates. ??

Awesome venue. Everyone who works here is super nice. They have a good selection of drinks at decent prices. Great NA Options. The concert space is pretty big and the sound is always awesome.

A really great venue lots of things to do while you wait with really great employees. I wasn't sure about waiting for a show alone since it was my first time here but an employee assured me things would be alright. And they were right I had a blast seeing 3RA1N1AC !!

Drinks were cheap, Patrick was awesome! The rest of the staff was kind of rude the whole evening. One of their patrons pulled a knife and was threatening people at one point, must have been a regular because the staff seemed cool with it. Unsafe environment and I will never go there again!

Cool venue. The bar has a good selection of beers, it's well maintained/cleaned, and their PA system is better than most concert venues this size. Speaking of the size, it holds around 275 max, which is the perfect size. It's big enough for a crowd, but still intimate. Their outdoor patio is spacious and well lit. Best of all, the local noise ordinance means that all concerts are over by 11pm

I have never felt so safe and welcome in a bar. This bar is also disability friendly, which is amazing. Food selection was pretty good, bar tenders were fast, and they had a nice selection of drinks too. Nice small venue that put on a good show. A couple arcade cabinets were in the back as well if you need a break from the show and you can always sit at the bar. I wish I lived closer so this could be my local hangout spot. ??????????

Budget drinks, arcade cabinets for cute date or friendly outings, consistently hosting hip and rocking bands. Also the staff are down to earth, good hesrted and cool.

Love this place! Always having great bands perform. The arcade games are so cheap and so fun to play in between sets. The drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly

One of my most favorite places to catch some live music

Went to go see a live show and it's is a nice venue and bar. Staff was very nice and attentive and everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely be back

The bar was not crappy like a lot of bars can be. The sound system is awesome, not your typical bar scene sound system. The games were all really cool and had lots to do.

It's between this place and the Cactus Club for me they always host my favorite bands the only complaint I have is when it's not a hardcore show there's not a lot of movement

Top tier hidden gem of cudahy. I've seen some of my favorite bands here that I never would have thought would be playing within walking distance from my house. Another great thing about this place is discovering new bands and in the past have tracked their progress to headlining their own major tours.

Love xray!!! the bartenders are super attentive, really sweet, and fun. drinks are totally affordable, and they have great specials! food is killer. the pizza bagels are to die for! and the bands are always sick. really good music every time we come here. not to mention they have a sick video game set up right at the bar with HUNDREDS of retro video games!!! we sat and played primal rage with strangers at the bar for hours. mario kart, super mario, mortal combat, and so many more titles that i never even kn

I love hitting up this venue for any show, and they have shows or something going on almost everyday of the week!

X-Ray Arcade is one of my favorite venues to attend live music events at! Newly remodeled bar and patio. The bathrooms are a bit small but are always clean and well stocked. The patio is such a great space to utilize. The bartenders and staff are always friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere overall and I come back as often as I can!

Nice little place. Didn't get super packed. Was able to hang back on the wall for the opening acts but still get up close for when the headliner came on

Such a great venue for music, showcase local acts and big name bands w cheap drinks and a great environment Although, I got THE WORST food poisoning in my life after eating here, so did my friend I shared the apps with so I know it was this food. Others have told me theyve gotten sick. Like truly the worst food poisoning i?ve ever had ???? so gross. This was the first time I had food there so id say great venue just do NOT get the food

Awesome venue for a small band concert! Only downside was the foul graffiti in the bathroom

Attended a movie night at X-ray, it was an amazing time. The audience was super into it! It was a packed house, too. Very friendly staff! Their upcoming concert schedule looks amazing too.

Love getting to see a show at XRay! They have an amazing game system at the bar, where you can play pretty much anything (I played Joust like the whole night). They also never seem to run out of Ginger Beer for my mules! :D I love that they have a poster for each show they do, where they basically lay out the next few months like a poster calendar. Looking forward to some coming acts!

I got engaged here so I'm a little biased, it's a good venue though. Has a nice little backyard type area to hang out in. The stage is a good size, sound is good, food is good. Bathrooms are on the clean side for a bar/venue. And they don't put up with bullshit which is always appreciated. Also there's arcade games.

Fantastic venue. Favorite place to catch live bands.

Always a pleasant time been going here since it was known as the Metal Grill way back.

Xray is such a refreshing change of pace from the traditional bars in the area. Love that they do all ages music shows, vegan brunch, rummages, yoga, trivia, etc. They've pulled in some really great bands/musicians too (looking at you, Yard Act!)

Fun little concert venue. Friendly bar. I saw Josie Cotton perform here, and it was good. Great smoking area out back.

Went for trivia night and had a great time! Cool space, but the best part are the staff and food. The bartender was friendly and helpful...excellent service! For food, it's simple and yummy. I appreciate that their pizza options are ALL available as vegan. I had the vegan Plenty bagel pizza and breaded mushrooms with vegan ranch. Delicious!! My friend is a bit of a beer snob and they had several options from her go-to brand. Good selection of classic arcade games, too. Great venue and I look forward to retu

Great sounding local venue. Plenty of space and quick bartenders. Clean and inviting would definitely go back.

This place has a great atmosphere! The bartenders were friendly and fast. Saw Knowledge Fight hosted by Dan & Jordan and gad a blast! Would definitely recommend thus place!

Great bartenders. Good prices & food drink specials. Some seats available. Residential area so concerts end around 11 on some nights

I absolutely love X-Ray Arcade. As someone with very high social anxiety, the staff are so kind and welcoming and go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. I have been here for a bite to eat, punk shows, rummage sales, and even a Taylor Swift dance night and I've always had the absolute best time. Thank you to everyone at X-Ray. Don't miss this place!

Such a cool vibe here. Plenty of fun arcade games to pass some time with, as well as some great live performances.

First time here! Staff was amazing (very nice and friendly) and the venue itself is pretty neat. Highly recommend if you like live music and retro games ??????

This place is awesome. A little nugget of gold hidden in a place that looks like a house. Very nice staff and love they are trying to keep the arts alive. Very punk rockish style that serves drinks and pizza rolls. Come check this place out.

Cool small venue to see some great bands at a cheap price. Never have issues with parking. Neighborhood seems safe too.

fabulous place! I love love love that its all ages and creates a safe and special environment for all, I got to see my friends band here and it was a blast (even with the construction happening right now)

This was my second show at the X-ray Arcade and so far both times have been amazing. The venue is spacious and open, the staff super friendly and welcoming, and the line up of entertainment is second to none! Two shows, eight bands, not one single negative thing to say about the X-ray Arcade. I will be back!

X-Ray Arcade is one of my absolute favorite venues. Great sound, great shows and a welcoming atmosphere. Bonus: shows start when they say they are going to start.

Nothing but good things to say about this venue. Polite staff, great setup and layout, clean bathrooms, good food. The area is nice and feels safe and parking wasn't hard to find at all. Whether you wanna get up close to the stage or sit at the bar and enjoy dinner during a show, both options are satisfactory and have a good view of the bands playing. I suggest the popular Pizza Bagels, but all the food i saw come out looked delicious. Will definitely be back in the future for more shows.

This was the joint on our final tour where the big blowup took place. This club attracts a group of rowdy little punks who aren't patronizing the club, but hanging around outside the place harassing unsuspecting out of town bands. This constitutes a gang where we come from. The club needs to have security clean up the street in front of the venue. The mostly verbal attacks that took place here were infantile, but still caused a ruckus that ended up going viral on the internet because children have busy thum

The staff was incredibly nice! The whole place was very clean, friendly and had great acoustics! 1st time at this venue was a fantastic experience!

I went there and saw an awesome metal show. The atmosphere was great and the staff were fun and friendly!!! I would definitely recommend it for any punk or metal fans as a venue. The bar seems like it would still be a cool place to go without the music as well

Great vibes, friendly staff, really clean, amazing art and graphity. I love X-Ray ??

Great venue, great bar. They get cool bands, and the sound is good. Affordable beers and cocktails, tasty food. Wish I lived closer!

Fun for events, and have attended several here. However went to the Halloween event, and it was so crowded couldn't even walk through to get to the bar, bathrooms, etc. Definitely way over capacity.

Really cool little venue. I would happily come see a show here again. The sound was excellent-- but full disclosure, I was here for a podcast recording, not a band (although there was a DJ playing music which did sound great) Food was good and reasonably priced. Staff was great- prompt, friendly, etc. Beer list looked decent for a venue. Plenty of non-alcoholic drinks to choose from (for those of us driving back home to Chicago after the show!)

I came for the first time for Kepi Ghoulie's show and was impressed with their space. Awesome place to see a show along with some decent drink deals on show nights, and they've got a kitchen! And a modest collection of classic arcade cabinets! The acoustics were actually really good for the show and they were very involved with making sure everything sou did good while the bands were setting up. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more shows here!

Great venue and great service love seeing bands here

Great venue! Very clean, trash cans and recycling within easy reach so to inspire to keep it clean. Awesome sound. Friendly and professional staff and bartenders.

Amazing venue!!! The sound system is great, the food is good, and the drinks are excellent. I like the pop-ups and oddball things they do, too. I've gone to and played shows here and would highly recommend both.

We went to X-Ray Arcade to see Josie Cotton perform. Phenomenal! What a fun place for a show! Great service and everyone was so friendly it was an entirely enjoyable experience.

Came here tonight for Heart Attack Man and I loved everything about this venue! It was easy to find street parking, they have a nice patio area, the sound was great, and the bathroom was clean. Also loved that even though the show was sold out, it wasn't super crowded. There was still plenty of space. I will definitely be returning here in the future!

Formerly the Metal Grill, now the X-Ray Arcade. You can expect the same types of metal shows the Grill was known and loved for. They've also added 6 to 8 arcade games including The Simpsons beat-em up and the very fun Simpsons Bowling which has great character banter throughout. You can also unlock Grandpa Simpson if you know the trick.

Really cool venue. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside is a nice, open space with surprising acoustics and a good sound system. The bartenders are all awesome, prices are reasonable, the food is tasty, and all the arcade games are awesome!

It's a cool venue. The staff was friendly other than the cranky little fella taking tickets at the front. I'm guessing his mom forgot to warm up the pizza rolls for him or something.

Safe space for metalheads, with the added bonus of great drink prices, good food and awesome games. Come see a show and see whats up, you won't regret it.

Great music venue. Patio is awesome and the bar is big.

I rented this venue for a family-friendly adult birthday party and everyone had a great time. The entire staff is pleasant and hard-working. Their appetizers are delicious, and we were able to bring our own additional food. We enjoyed the ability to have the games turned on to free play (for a reasonable extra cost to us as hosts). It has an eclectic vibe but extremely welcoming.

Great live music venue. We had a great time at the Mac Lethal show. Looking forward to DJ here in the near future.

Awesome staff, great classic arcade cabinets, and great food!

X-Ray Arcade was an absolute blast, and it's truly a unique and vibrant spot that brings together the best of games, music, and entertainment. Whether you're a gamer, a music enthusiast, or just looking for a fun night out, this place has something for everyone. The atmosphere at X-Ray Arcade is electric and welcoming. The moment I walked in, I could feel the energy and excitement in the air. It's clear that this venue is a hub for the local community to come together and have a great time.

Felt truly relaxed here as 3 great bands graciously shared the stage. What a gem! Please keep this going!

Small music venue. Sound is decent for the size. Good staff. It's all ages, but the bar selection is decent and reasonably priced. I'm happy to support small music venues.

Had a blast here. From what I understand, it was once a church. Great place for the concert we saw. The only problem was the bartender gave us attitude because we do not drink, and they had an issue serving us water with lemon. This was after giving the bartenders a twenty dollar tip. Simply wow to the bartenders.

First timer and LOVED IT!! Fun and friendly staff, great drinks and arcade games!!! Also LOVE that the shows are all ages - I grew up in the music scene on the east side because of all ages shows so now my son can enjoy LIVE MUSIC at a young age!

This location has been home to a few great music venues in Cudahy WI. X-Ray arcade won't disappoint. Friendly staff, fast service, & a safe and clean atmosphere. They have a huge outdoor area that makes this a top notch venue to frequent. Stop in and see for yourself. Being open to all ages and providing a place where I can bring my son with me to experience live music make this a 10 star location for me. I hope this venue will be here for the next 100+ years.

This place is PHENOMENAL. I went here a few days ago to see a few bands, and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. The atmosphere here is just so welcoming, and it sure helps that the drinks are pretty well-priced. If you go to a show here, though, it may take a while for them to open up the doors. I waited about 50 minutes past the time it said they would open on the website & posters, but the experience well made up for that.

Fun bartenders! They will make you a surprise cocktail lol super friendly. Amazing venue. Great bands. Go visit!

Great place! They bring in a lot of bands you can't see anywhere else. Bartenders are awsome. If you haven't seen a show there you should

Great vibe, chill welcoming to all ages, LGTBQIA+ comfortable space for Olds and youth's to both enjoy the BEST live music shows! Absolutely the best bookings in the Milwaukee area! I only wish it was more accessible with a car.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
