Windjammer Fun Center

Windjammer Fun Center

Reviews Summary

Windjammers receives mixed reviews, with many praising its family-friendly atmosphere, fun activities, and good birthday party options, particularly noting friendly staff and enjoyable experiences for kids. However, significant criticism targets outdated facilities, poor maintenance (especially skates and bathrooms), rude staff, and overpricing. Several reviewers suggest renovations would greatly improve the venue. While some find it a nostalgic and enjoyable spot, others are disappointed by broken arcade games, uncomfortable skates, and inconsistent service. The overall impression is a place with potential but in need of major updates and better customer service.

Staff is super friendly and helpful. Had a great time celebrating birthday girl!

Came here for a birthday party my son was invited too. The place was fun but every single employee that was working was super rude and acted like they hated every person in the building. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. If you hate your job so much don't work here. Period. Do better.

First off when you come make sure you have funds it's not cheap coming here and this was for two people!!!! Secondly, everything is very very old, the skates, the floor! But have a sign that says, skate at your own risk when the bathroom floors are literally cracking and caving

Celebrated our grandson's 4th birthday here on Saturday. We drove on from Lexington. The first thing I noticed was we were the only ones with masks on. Concession stand very busy, and a little unorganized, one lady pretty much ran the show even though there were younger associates behind the counter too..we stood there a good while to be helped. A couple times a teenager would ask if we need help, then got distracted helping someone else and we would just keep standing there waiting then another associate

We celebrated our kids 9th birthday here. I would return BUT there is much room for improvement. Our party tables were directly under a blaring sound speaker. You could not hear the person right beside you speaking. It was painfully loud and I asked twice for it to be turned down. If I book another party I will ask not to be in this area or we won't book it. The place is super old and run down. A little money invested into renovations (particularly the bathrooms and carpets) would go such a long way. The

Great for birthdays staff is bad but they was still kinda nice my son had a great time

Workers were friendly, place was clean. Pizza was good. The kids had a blast adult's too.

New to the area & looked for something close by for my daughter?s birthday. Had spent money for a birthday party for my daughter, she enjoyed herself. The manager was rude and disrespectful upon walking in. Glad the party went well but will most likely not return.

Excellent place to bring your family. Lot of activities there

The kids have fun because they're out of the house and they're kids, but it's just too expensive for what you get. You don't even get any kind of discount if you bring your own skates either. I'd rather go someplace else for this price.

We have been coming here for years. Back in the day my daughter was a party host. I was assist Mgr on the weekends. All of my grandkids have their birthday parties here now. Staff is awesome. Great atmosphere. Pizza is the best around. For the price can't beat a fun family night of skating, arcade, music, lazer tag. Ask about the family package.

Fun place to meet with your friends, jam to a phenomenal playlist, or learn how to skate!

I would rate it a 1 but I gave it a 2 just because the music was better last time I went and it is fun but the older lady that usually works at the register is extremely rude even over the phone. I am surprised she still has her job and they allow her to treat not only adults poorly but children. She got physical with my child one time and I about jumped over that counter. My kids being there helped the situation. I don't understand why you would work somewhere you obviously hate just to be miserable and mi

It was fun pretty old kids had fun I had fun and it's expensive but enjoyable

I just seen an extremely rude comment attached with a bunch of pictures, I know for a fact this Rink has been in the Danville community since 1971, moreover, if I have a problem with a business or have a concern, I go directly to the management and address my issue. (THE DAY IT HAPPENS )Most of the time that corrects any problems instead of bashing them on social media, the Windjammer Fun Center in Danville is a high-quality family fun center, I know the management real well they've been there for decades,

$20 per person to go skating... place definitely takes you back to the 80's because that's the last time they changed the carpet or sanded the wood on the rink. Trash food and prizes include dyed sugar in a cup. And the lady running it is not that welcoming.

1st time ever being there since haven't lived in the area long. We decided to have our 4yr old son's birthday party there (non verbal/autistic) and couldn't beat the price!! He absolutely LOVED IT!!! We put skates on him to try (figured it would be a no go) and he was skating around the carpet area like he's done it all his life. Strongly recommend for birthday celebrations.

The kids had a blast with all there is to do here. Perfect place for birthday parties. Karen and get staff are great at their jobs!!

Windjammers is an amazing place to take kids. My children had the best time for a birthday party. The staff is great and we will definitely be back.

Not bad half the machines would not give tickets

Place is very out dated and way over priced! Skates were absolutely junk!! The rink was sticky and dirty! Older lady that worked there screamed at a young man over and over it was embarrassing for everyone! I've been wanting to take my kids for a very long time and finally made time to go and was very disappointed in so many ways.

It was really crowded for a small area but overall real fun for the family, real affordable. They offer food and arcade games that register tickets on a card. They also have rental skates, which seem to be very limited, so definitely a first come, first serve basis, so one would need to either get there early or bring your own skates. They also have laser tag, which is an awesome option, but you'd have to wait until there's enough people to play.

It is overpriced and the manager was really rude the whole time.

Great time, friendly and helpful staff. Fair prices on all activities. The General Manager let me buy my family a special package they have for another night because the kids were promised Laser Tag. A big shout out to the General Manager and also his Son who was very helpful and friendly as well.

Loads of fun have not been there since a teenager.

(As a pre-teen) I would like to inform all adults and children that skating is fun, there are all sorts of challenges in order to worn first place to get a slush or cotton candy, there are plenty games, and there pizza is amazing. I love going there, and it helped me learn to skate, their music is child friendly as well, no cursing. Some tables are by the walls of the rink which is good because if my mom is there I can stop by and grab my drink take a sip and put it down. I also can take my best friends the

Grandson's 9th Birthday Party there was great! All the kids and adults had fun. ??

Had my daughter 10th birthday party there. Was nice for the most part. Everyone enjoyed skating. Alot of the arcade machines didn't work or wouldn't give you your tickets. Paid for Lazer tag and half the vest and guns didn't work and was told by one of the guys that they would restart a game for the ones that didn't work after the ride in the birthday shoe and never did. Overall my daughter did have fun but don't know if I would have another one there.

Place is a bit run down. Only one stall was available in womens restroom, some games took the coins but didn't work, parts of my skates didnt latch. The staff was really nice though and I enjoyed the party we were at. My kids had fun as well.

It is a wonderful experience with our adult children and grandchildren so glad we get to pass on and continue something we have always loved. I do wish there were a family membership plan to make it more affordable but over all is a great experience in a clean well kept facility.

It's pretty fun, it's nice to bring people to come skate with it has games and alot of stuff and the people are nice

Have to pay $15 admission just to walk in the door so I paid $15 each for two kids who didn't want to skate. Paid for unlimited laser tag but only got to play one game and all the vests didn't work. Used to be a great deal. Now, not worth the money.

They were incredibly rude here, they told me and my friend that we were violating some dress code and our shirts weren't long enough? They also charge FIFTEEN dollars per person regardless of if you bring your own skates or rent theirs. Honestly this place is a ripoff and the employees are incredibly rude. I don't recommend. Just make the drive to champs in Lexington. They're cheaper anyway.

I pd for a party package last yr. Returned to use a certificate this year same date. The owner was nice as gold but the lady that takes your money at the window is by far the rudest human I've ever encountered in danville.

Great atmosphere and experience!

We bring the kids and grandkids here all the time. Great place for the little ones to learn how to skate.

Staff is very friendly, we have had 2 birthday parties there in the last 2 years.. and my little's have had a blast. I do wish the games were cheaper.

From my daughter: "I rented one of the horses, but the staff took it and wouldn't let me use it, even though I had a bracelet. Then the person at the counter was grumpy with me about my tickets, until my mom came in."

Had my daughters 12th birthday here. It was fun and worth it. There was trouble with some games, but that happens everywhere. I fell and broke my wrist due to unforseen incident. It was NOT Windjammer fault at all, but yet they called to check on me and make sure everything was okay. We will be back!

The staff was incredibly rude, said that me and my friend were violating their dress code and would have to button up or untie our tops to show less skin even though its summer and they weren't even very revealing. Just very rude. Also price gouging AF, 15 dollars no matter if you bring your own skates or not? Yeah, just go to Champs ?????

Cost: $7.00 entry fee per person just to get inside, additional cost for every activity. The building: seemed to be outdated, but was not dilapidated by any means. The staff: seemed to be kind enough, though I did not have much interaction with them. I did, however, witness what appeared to be an employee handling a negative or physical altercation that happened between 2 young men inside the building. Kudos to that guy and handling the situation appropriately to ensure a safe environment for all the youn

Good place to come and have your kids party they have laser tags skating and pizza.

Was there Saturday for a birthday party. I agree with all the comments Mrs. Howard stated. I will add that all rinks I've been to have the sinks outside the bathroom for safety reasons. You can't have floors getting wet and have porcelain sinks nearby.

The place was alright I suppose. There was a lot of birthday parties going on. Several of the games where broken or didn't work we paid for unlimited laser tag and they didn't allow that to happen I probably want be going back

None of the staff know what they're doing. We get different answers and prices every time we go and no one stops the kids from going backwards and knocking/tripping people. I went there hoping to have fun, but left with bruises and the night cut short. Will not be returning.

Visited this place on a Saturday night. There weren't very many people but you could probably guess why as soon as you walk in the building. This place is so raggedy. The skates that you rent look like they have been there since the place opened, they had tears in every single skate and half of them were ripped down the side. That is very unsafe and makes it extremely hard to skate in them without feeling uncomfortable. The staff was rude because we had to go back multiple times to ask for different skates

All around fun for kids 5-15 generally speaking. Skating rink, laser tag, arcade games- pizza, snacks, drinks. Has a very small area for younger kids that includes ride on toys, bounce house and a few easier games. Staff essentially make the place worth 4 stars, 5 stars if they could make it slightly better for younger kids.

This place used to be a busy place. I remember as a teenager skating here and it was well run and maintained. I have been increasingly disappointed each time I've visited recently. First, in this age of electronic transactions, they still require a minimum purchase of $10 to use a debit card! The admission price is $9 something (not enough to use a card). This is hugely inconvenient if you are just coming in wanting to carry just a card and no purse. Also you can't just get a drink from the concession unles

We came for a party. The overall experience was decent. My daughter was more interested in the games, which is okay too. Just wished they were all functioning properly.

We recently visited this place on 1/3/2020. It was a Friday night. Understandably busy. However, that is not the reason for the 2 star review. Admission for this place is 7.50 PP. There is no special pricing for young children. With that price you do not get any tokens. You have to purchase those separately. Half of the games did not work. This is not fun for smaller kids ages as our girls are 5 and 7. The service is terrible. Its staff is mostly teens. Service is awful. We will not return to Windjammers ag

We had my granddaughter's birthday party today. It was really great. Plenty of space for social distancing. The children had a blast. Thank you Windjammer

Definitely outdated and the rink is not smooth. However, it gives the kids in the community something to do. If they invested some money into the building and did some major updates, especially to the rink and bathrooms.... it would be a great place.

Good environment, friendly staff, lots of activities and birthday fun!

A good time for the kids.

Great place to have parties kids greatly enjoyed it. Will be back

Looks like a fun place from the out side. Employees are very immature talking over eachother on the microphones during games, skates are very old & rugged. My boyfriend got inline skates and the wheels where falling off. They have a minimum $10 spending fee on Debit/Credit cards which is ridiculous & just a way to get people to spend more money. Laser tag is just a small room eith nothing to it. Not very nice, but not garbage. Other than that it was okay. Food looked really good. Cotton candy was delicious.

Paid $60 for admission even though we did not want to skate. (We came to kill some time while we waited for our table at Cattleman?s. We asked if we could eat and come back and the woman said ?You should?ve ate before you came in. You cannot leave the property and return!? We tried to explain we were having to wait on our table for 45 minutes, she was not enthused.)Half of the games in the arcade were out of order, some of the working ones did not even give tickets. After 30 minutes of being there the token

Paid $48.00 for 6 ppl/kids on a Saturday night.. Not bad..srinks and foods a lol expensive but thw kids had a blast!!! They need to update or oil the skate wheels cause theyre rigid and rusted a bit abd makes the skates awkward...but had a BLAST!!! FOR SURE GOING BACK SOON!!!

Awesome place for a birthday party the kids really enjoyed it!

Don't waste your money on the games, as many do not operate properly, or at all. Manager acted kinda snippy when we first walked in. Food was average, and the skating was... Skating. Kind of be hard to screw that up.

Been to several Birthday parties there. They are always friendly, and kids have had a blast!!

My nephew was upset that aside from learning to skate, all he could do was play on the small bouncy house because most of the games were either missing parts, broke down, or out of order. He lost many tokens to these because there were no signs stating they didnt work other than the couple token slots with duct tape. He did win tickets from one wheel and the lady doubled his count, so props to her. Nothing except water was a reasonable price (I would say the lockers were cheap but after dropping money in 2

Very fun, exciting for the kids, lots of games, and great food! The staff is wonderful!

The Kids loved this place. I did feel that $15 per person per visit was very over priced. Perhaps hourly rates could be available.

Had a blast skating tonight haven't been in years Shaky at first then got the hang of it again

My son had his 4th Birthday there. Very reasonable price for his party wasnt too crowded and attendants were polite and courteous.

It's really gone down hill since u was a kid, it needs a Major update forsure, I mean the top prize was a PS3, and the games were few and in-between

Great place! Lots of fun! Great birthday party! ??

It was fun. But none of the arcade games actually worked. Customer service was horrible had a rude lady. And very over priced. Will not be going back!

Great place to have a party and enjoy family fun.

Skates are horrible needed size 12 roller blades. Received one pair latch was broken. Turned in for another pair latches were broke and whole skate boot was ripped made the best of it. Then bearings went out one of the wheels. Place is not the cleanest never even sprayed the skates when receiving them would not recommend... was there years ago when Mr Finley owned it was much better than not many improvements in the last 15 years

Gotta say place is really nice all the games work cleanliness is good bathrooms look good I was accidentally over charged and the employee came out and found me to return my money even though I didn't realize all in all great place to take the family the manager Scotty is awesome and made sure it was a great experience for us

Very rude workers won't go back spent over $100 there on games and they wouldn't let our kids cash in their tickets that's pretty much stealing. And nobody there had masks on not even the workers but they said something to us about not wearing any.

Very big and employees were quite courteous. Had a blast. Also paw patrol was there and kids loved it. Very reasonable prices

Love the family atmosphere, staff was very friendly.

My 7 year old loves Windjammers! It's her new favorite activity!

Not enough games or dances like hokey pokey or "gator" didn't know half the christian songs played, only gamed played last two thursday nites the only game played was 4 corners, some of the games didn't give tickets...would like to make it more fun

Over half the games didnt work, the ones that did work took double the amount of tokens. The same skates from 20 years ago. Ticket counter janes up and air hocky tables dont work no updated music.

Fun for the whole family! Kids and adults of all ages can enjoy. It gets the kids out of the house and off of all the electronics. The kids love coming here!

Very friendly staff. Multiple games needed looked at, still the employees were very accommodating and helpful. Loved the floor, easy to skate on.

They overcharged me on my credit card?. After already overcharging lol. Other than stealing from me it's a wonderful place.

Had a really fun time with the church youth group. Would like to see them open a little earlier but still had a great time.

Definitely won't be coming back here workers are extremely rude with kids and they charge you for bringing your own skates

Proper mask requirements, and social distancing were followed. It wasn't too crowded and was very fun for the family. Can't wait to go back!

Always so much fun had bye all. (Until I fall or get knocked down lol my old bones can't handle all that) but always a good time!

Great place to take the grandchildren. Scotty and his staff always put forth above and beyond effort! Great food too!

They seemed to have a lot of issues with games working, games taking tokens, some games didn't print tickets and their ticket counter wasn't counting correctly

Nothing. The day I had planned on going, it was closed. And to be honest, some of the workers there are rude. Maybe my review would be higher if they were open more than just a few days a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
