Customer Reviews

Great ice cream, friendly and helpful staff, good prices. They even let my sister in law swing in 30 minutes before opening time due to time crunch to buy a very comfortable hoodie. Highly recommend. Also have very good gluten free waffle cone!

Yummy ice cream, fresh waffle cones, games for kids, beer for the adults and of course the best customer service ever! The owner Jah goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome! A small business worth supporting!

Yummy ice cream and the waffle cone was amazing. We each had two flavors in our cones. Had the espresso ice cream and chocolate. My partner had the black licorice and coconut ice cream. Friendly staff and nice little area with games attached.

Quick appresh??Absolutely delish. Try their chicken n waffle cone! Shoutout to river their hardest working employee. ????

This place is so generous with their single scoop cones (it's basically a loaded two scoop) and wide assortment of flavors. We came to the door at 6 and they didn't turn us away, even though it was closing time. John even made my husband an amazing gluten free cone on the spot!

The ice cream was delicious and the owner was definitely very generous with the scoops. He was extremely sweet and had great service, and the place was bright and inviting with a fun selection of games! I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

I ordered the cranberry walnut cheesecake. So delicious! And the owner did not hesitate to help me. I'm a quadriplegic and he came opened my hand and put the ice cream cone in it. Then when I finished without asking he came to me with a warm wet cloth + washed my hand. I was so moved by his compassion.

Excellent ice cream, even better owner! Jah is one of the most genuine humans you'll ever meet - he sat down with my friends and I to chat game systems and life when we stopped in for a treat. Cannot recommend this spot enough!

Excellent ice cream, incredible owner! Jah is one of the most genuine humans you'll ever meet - he sat down with my friends and I to chat game systems and life when we stopped in for a treat. A can't miss stop when you're out at the coast. You won't regret a minute of your visit!

Had a great time! The arcade has such a huge collection, and it really gave me a sense of nostalgia playing the games I grew up with. Grab a cone... or a beer and chill the arcade. Fun time.

Really love this place! The owner and staffs were friendly and great! Stopped by and enjoyed the ice cream ?? plus there were free arcade games! Good place to hangout for sure on any season! Definitely coming back, got some 10% off coupons for having high scores! ????

Awesome service.and great ice cream. Recommend any one whats to go out for ice cream and have a great view of the Ocean while you eat it . Its a must stop for us

The owner is fantastic! He treated my 6 friends and I like royalty! He said "nobody leave empty handed" and gave myself an icecream sandwich free of charge when I wasn't able to pay! He showed all my friends games in the arcade and how to play all of them. SO COOL!

So glad I stopped in. I got chocolate with a vegan gluten free cone and it was soooo good! Everyone was kind and helpful even though it was slammed. We will be back when we come back to the area.

We visit this place 10x per summer. Part of our tradition is ice cream from Whale of a Cone. He has Spumoni ice cream too. Free pup cups if you have your dog with you. Fantastic service.

Delicious ice cream, incredibly kind owners, and super fun arcade with 100,000+ games! They even gave our dogs cups of ice cream, which is just so sweet. We had the mango sorbet and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend and will be back!!! ??

Coolest place in Westport! Best ice cream. Waffle cones made fresh to order. If you are interested, there are many gaming consoles with thousands of available games. We played on a few different consoles for no extra charge. Jan accidently left her purse inside but one of the owners ran it out to us right as we were leaving. What a great place! Kid and adult friendly. They have beer. It's at the end of the strip, don't settle for any other ice cream. This is the best!

What's better on a hot day than ice cream? With plenty of selections, my favorite is pistachio almond, but we tried five different flavors, and all were delicious. There are five chairs outside where you can enjoy your ice cream if you don't feel like walking, but a short distance away is a lighthouse where you can stroll around.

If I could rate W.O.A.C. more than five stars I would! Best customer service, great flavor selection and fun atmosphere. If you're visiting Westport, WA I highly recommend Whale of a Cone ice cream shop!

Really great all around. Classic ice cream flavors and fantastic more unique offerings that are worth trying. Every flavor ordered among 8 people (kids and adults) was a hit. The attached arcade is fun with Switch, PS and Xbox classics, along with MKII, NBA Jam, and Simpsons arcades. They have basically all the old systems including NeoGeo, Sega, Atari, etc with American, Japanese and Euro market catalogs. The owner is passionate about games and creating custom cabinets and he really cares about his commu

An ice cream shop arcade is all anyone can ask for around here. The dude running it is super rad and welcoming. 10/10 definitely stopping here more often.

I was very pleased to see the new owners of my grandmother's ice cream shop thriving and adapting to new times. Keeping the name and staple of Westport alive.

This place deserves all the love. Not only was the ice cream excellent, but the owner went out of his way to show my boys how to use the different systems. We played some games, ate some ice cream, and overall had a great time. Will definitely be back. Thank you, Jah!

The most absolute best experience at a ice cream shop. The owner is amazing and the food is delicious and let's just say the ice cream is top notch ??

We stopped in for some ice cream and were pleasantly surprised by the staff and decor of this lovely little shop. After you buy your ice cream you can go in and play on their many classic game systems. The Ice Cream itself was excellent and they had a lot of interesting flavors. My partner got one that tasted of Fruity Pebbles and I got a shake with their Cherry Ice cream. All very excellent.

You must visit Whale of a Cone for ice cream, if you're in Westport. The server was very nice to talk to. We love the butter pecan flavor! The mango sorbet flavor wasn't good, but we should have tried a sample before finalizing. We'll be visiting Whale of a Cone again before leaving Westport. --- We visited again, the next day. Our favorite flavors were butter pecan and pecan praline.

I have always visited this same ice cream place for over 20+ years. I'm so happy to see it still there. The prices are fair, and the ice cream is hand dipped. Shop employee/ owner happy, smile, and very friendly ??

Honestly, the customer service is what gets it the 5 stars. The ice cream is pretty much all stuff you can get at the grocery store. It's a great brand, but we very much enjoyed the friendly, gregarious, and kind man who served us the ice cream. Try the Maui Wowi! They also have an arcade so I would bet it's a great place to be when the weather doesn't cooperate ??

Awesome customer service. Ice cream is great and the owner is a great person looking forward to seeing the customer happy

Best ice cream spot in Westport!! Amazing service and the kids LOVE playing the arcade games while enjoying their ice cream.

My favorite place to go and get ice cream and candy when I am in westport. Recently under new management but still the excellent ice cream shop you remember with a good selection of flavors. I highly recommend either the chocolate dipped or original waffle cones. They are delicious!

We love how nice Jah is. He always has a good attitude and treats the kids great. Oh yeah and he has beer as well so what more could you ask for!

What a cool place! Over 15,000 games and delicious ice cream. Family friendly, cool owner, must visit!

Quite literally the nicest owner ever!! On his birthday he let us stay late.. such a cool business and such a sweet owner.

absolutely fire man, went there today and the ice-cream was insane, the owner or staff member there was really cool, we played street fighter together

First time there and John was working! He was so kind and so personable!! And it was his birthday (happy birthday)! Next time i come in town, im coming here!!

Went here for the first time a few months ago but the owner was very friendly, great service all around. He was letting me try a few samples to make sure I picked the right one. The flavors I tried were pretty good, highly recommended!

Delightful staff, eager to help and show around. The arcade is filled with fun retro games, and the owner clearly has a passion for it by modding consoles to store more ROMs on it. Very cool! Also free play with ice cream, how could you go wrong.

Grab some really good Ice-cream and find your favorite arcade game to play. Very unique and comfortable atmosphere.

Whale of a Cone was our best stop in Westport. We stopped in for cones and came out with such uplifted spirits and great ice cream! Our 4 year old granddaughter was treated to the awesome shop owner's one on one attention. He took the time to talk with her and treated her to sprinkles and sparkles on her cone. Customer service seems to be also arr....but this kind gentleman is amazingly dialed in. Thank you so much for such a great experience!!!

This is the $7.50 double scoop.. Pretty small and the ice cream was old/freezer burnt. You get more ice cream in those $1 mini tubs at the grocery store.

Had a great time visiting this ice cream shop and arcade. "Jah" truly made us feel at home and we stayed and played games for hours. Thanks Jah for an awesome afternoon!

Yummy ice cream and such a friendly owner! Very cool place, be sure to stop by

We walked down for ice cream after closing and they kindly opened for us! My daughter was so excited, she was speechless. I was given a scoop on the house of the maple nut that is so delicious! My daughter loved the vanilla ice cream! Thank you so much for your kindness and staying open late for us. We will be back on our next visit (before closing!) ??

Gluten Free Waffle Cones made and sold here. The co-owners and store manager all happened to be in the store. Gluten Allergy was accommodated on the spot. One of the owners baked and prepared a gluten free cones when they were sold out. Amazing service.

My wife wanted ice cream so we stopped by Whale of a Cone. The staff were super nice and made us feel very welcome. They had plenty of non basic flavors, like strawberry cheesecake which is my wife?s favorite, and multiple options for cones. They gave us a lil pup scoop for our dog and even made an ice cream sandwich for us to try (it was delicious)! We would definitely come back!

Great service and the ice cream was delicious!

My mom, my dad and i bought oce cream cones here and my son and nephews wanted to play games. He yelled at them to read the rules.... hes 5 dude and we bought 3 cones. It doesnt say in the rules everyone has to buy a cone. Also, my brother was going to buy ice cream for the kids, but because they entered first and got yelled at before him you lost service. Also, theres slim picking on ice cream and the honey churro was disgusting.

Lovely little place. Great selection and extra points for being dog friendly! They even gave us a free pup cup (small scoop of vanilla ice cream and some crushed waffle cone!) We will be back next time we visit!

This place rocked. The service was excellent! Big fruity pebble shake with enough to let me try it too. Homemade waffle cones that were amazing. He even provided pup cups for our dogs. New ownership knows what they are doing. A wonderful friendly experience. Pay no attention to old reviews as they no longer apply with the new owner. My husband drooled over all the video games they offer in their arcade. I'm sure we will be back.

Love this place! The maple walnut ice cream was so good and the owner made my husband an amazing cup of french pressed coffee that he immensely appreciated and enjoyed. Great laid-back, happy vibe - definitely stop by for a tasty treat!

This place is great ice cream and video games hardest part was keeping the kids from playing with sticky hands and getting them to leave. We had a great time. Got to play The Simpsons game I wasted so many quarters on that game when I was a kid this time it was free with a purchase of ice cream loved it.

We LOVE this place!!! Owner is SO nice and helped my kids have a great time in the arcade. Not to mention he has the BEST ice cream flavors in Westport including the cranberry cheesecake and the Maui-Wowie. They also make the best waffle cones in house. We will absolutely come back every time we visit Westport; highly recommend!!!!

New owner is a hell of a good dude. Saw me drop an ice cream I bought elsewhere and yelled from the door to come get a free one. Tons of retro games inside and the best waffle cones. If you haven't stopped in you're missing out.

Just stopped by Whale of a Cone tonight for after dinner ice cream and was pleasantly surprised by their new look! They renovated the chotsky shop half of the store and changed it to a sweet little game room! They put up a bunch of big screen tvs each with game systems from NES with vintage classics (even Mario/Duck Hunt!) up to PS5, a couple arcade games, and tables with board games. They still have the great ice cream selection too! Had a great time showing my kiddo how to play mouse trap while munching o

What a lovely shop ... The smell alone is heavenly & Jah is so kind! ??

Awesomeness abounds in this magical place! Delicious ice cream, refreshing local beers and endless entertainment at the arcade. Love the mashup and couldn't have had a better afternoon treat and gaming session! Must stop by this shop!

After dinner, I promised my 2 older children ice cream at an old shop I knew of back when I used to live in Westport. Upon arrival, it appeared maybe we arrived too late as I didn't see any personnel so I meandered back towards our car. It was then that I was pleasantly reminded that this small town doesn't disappoint. She may not know me from Adam & 2 double scoops may not have made a dent in the till but I appreciated the manager's willingness to make sure we were able to enjoy Whale of a Cone this week

Definitely a new hangout spot super cool and friendly owner great ice cream and even better games if you got time stop in this hidden diamond shop. P.s you can buy the consoles as well with 20k games on them for reasonable prices.

We passed through Westport on a super rainy Spring Break weekday and hit the jackpot when we walked into Whale of a Cone and were met by Jah. Amazing friendly service. A wide variety of ice cream flavors that look like they are constantly updated. They also carry snacks and some great local beers. We walked in for ice cream and ended up staying a while because they also have about any video game you can imagine ready to play right next to the ice cream counter in a cozy warm space. Jah was right there ready

This place has something for everyone. Fun atmosphere with board games, video games and more. Great ice cream. Beers for the grown ups. And best of all, the owner is a great guy. A must stop if you're in town.

Found this place while in town for a bachelor party and ended up coming back the following day with the whole gang. Serving beers from Blackbeard Brewery plus delicious ice cream - combine the two and you have yourself a tasty float! This all combined with 1000s of games to play made for a fun afternoon. Keep up the good work Jah! ??

This place is pretty awesome, and the ice-cream waffle cones are the best. I loved the arcade, they have retro ni tendo systems open for play as well as some of the best old arcade games. My 12 year old video gamer was in heaven.

Today I tried ?Whale of a Cone? for the first time. The ice cream was great, the people were wonderful, and the store itself was a really fun space. They even had a Simpsons arcade cabinet! So, if you're ever in Westport, definitely drop in!

Such a disappointing experience. Only a 1 star because we didn't even enjoy ice cream. After a 10 minute wait we were informed that we were standing in the wrong location to order, even though a line was not clearly marked, we were obviously willing to move until the woman behind the counter was incredibly rude and proceeded to presume that we "cut" ahead of people and with a scathing, loud attitude told us to head to the back of the line behind several people that walked in long after us. It embarrassed my

Excellent customer service! We were helped by one of the owners, Jah, who was amazing and made my 2 year old?s day. Definitely will be back!

This small ice cream store and gift shop are run by a sweet lady. However, when it get busy in the summertime I can imagine it is a strain to keep up with customers. I had marrionberry sorbet in a cup and it was fantastic. Don't miss this place, but have patience and a sense of humor!

This is the worst place to get ice cream whatever your gonna get is expired they do not check the date on there taffy's and there staff suck at costomer service as gm in dairy queen we treat everyone greatly. This place so bad you can see staff hate everything in there. How costumer service should work if you want more business smile explain what you got check your dates on the product let the staff know that there job depends on costumer service. I mean I don't care that she was eating chips on the way i

Way overpriced for what we got (a small ice cream and two hot cocoas). The hot cocoa wasn't mixed, so it was slightly-chocolate-flavored water at first, and then cocoa powder with a hint of moisture toward the end. The gal working the counter was super nice to us and we chatted for a bit, which was the good part about our experience here. The elderly woman running the register just gave off some bad vibes and seemed to not know how to work the register.

Walked in employees were nice enough. Ice cream case just didn't look appetizing. Ended up going to Surfer Girl up the street to the east. If you like fresh waffle cones, go there. If your a nerd/geek or don't claim either and just like comics and/or collectable toys and mtg... they got that too. And the staff is super friendly and fun to talk to... If they aren't super busy.

Walked in and was greeted with friendliness! Shakes are super good and they offered a military discount which was super kind! Not sure if it's under new owner ship but from previous reviews the people who work here are wonderful.

This is an amazing business. Finding it was like living through Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Some of the best customer service I've ever had, as well as just being a genius idea. Never gonna forget this place

The lady wasn't very pleasant and she has no idea how to run the credit card machine. She ended up charging my mom $14,000 for 3 ice cream cones and drained her account. Then when we were trying to fix her mistakes she had the audacity to say we didn't pay for the cones. Our vacation was ruined and had no money to get home. It has been a nightmare. The ice cream was also served half melted. Stay away from Whale of a Cone.

They offered a variety of ice cream and sherbet flavors that were not just your run-of-the-mill standards, including sugarfree. The wafflecone was standard and the prices were a little high. We enjoyed every lick!

"Whale of an Attitude" from the two young ladies working here who refused to serve us icecream on Tuesday July 20th. My husband and I walked in the door with four young kids more than fifteen minutes before close. The open sign was lit up, the door was propped open and nothing looked closed or covered. However the girl standing behind the counter (who apppeared to be doing nothing) said that she couldn't serve us because she needed to start cleaning up to be closed by 8:00. I pointed out that we still had

Super chill dude working there on 4/6. My son got some chocolate ice cream and he even offered to heat up my wife?s baked pie she bought.

Overcharged for tiny, tiny scoops of ice cream. My family goes to Westport at least once a year and have visited Whale of a Cone many times. It used to be that you would indeed get a "Whale" of a serving, with generous scooping even in single-scoop portions. This weekend when we went, the servings were so small that a single scoop was four, maybe five bites (I received mine in a cup). Most ice cream places use PADDLES to create their scoops. The lady behind the counter, aside from being a bit rude with r

Early May got a generous 2 scoop waffle cone. Waffle was good as was the chocolate brownie. However, the coconut was left over from last year, at least it looked and tasted it. Should never have been served.

Amazing visit. Outstanding management. You could tell they really had their hands full during pirates days and it was refreshing to see them tackle the crowd with patience and determination. ???

They serve Tillamook ice cream. The prices are crazy. 2 scoop waffle cone and a small vanilla shake was $15.25. Expensive Ice Cream, but the atmosphere was excellent.

They had a lot of interesting flavors and even some sugar free ones. They let you taste before you buy. It was on the expensive side and so was the gift shop. But the ladies were really nice.

My younger brother went in by himself to get some ice cream the menu said his total would be about $8. He got a single scoop on a dipped waffle cone. He was charged $10 for it. No way it should have costed him that much. I am furious!!

The salted caramel is amazing! This place is at the end of the street next to the viewing tower. Worth the walk! Owner is very friendly..This is my go to for dessert. Highly recommend!!

Awful experience, If you have children you will be treated as if you are a henderance. We were excited to enjoy an ice cream cone on a rare sunny day in late October. When we walked in our 2 year old was a little excited about the thought of ice cream and was talking about what he wanted. The lady behind the counter looked at me and said "I was trying to make a phone call but children are so loud". She then said, "but I guess I have to get off the phone bc you will probably want to buy something". To which

Delicious ice cream! and super fun arcade games that you can play for free with purchase

Great little setup, service was excellent, and the kids really enjoyed the homemade arcade. Highly recommend.

I've heard great things, however both times I've come out to Westport to try it out they've been closed even though the hours posted say they should be open.

Jah was awesome! Great ice cream, and there's a new arcade room you should really check out!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
