Fun arcade bar. Good selection of beers and games. Lots of pinball, and vintage games like pacman and donkey Kong. We went during happy hour and one off the offers was 20 free tokens with one of the beers. Really good deal. If has a window serving pizza slices, but can comment as didn't order one. Looked good though!
A neat little barcade with several floors and a nice rooftop area with personal fires to warm up. We went to see the sunset around 5:30 PM and there was hardly anyone there. Our group of 4 got $10 worth of tokens and that was plenty for us - there weren't too many games worth playing. Some machines were out of order and I wasted some tokens. The ones we did end up playing were janky or confusing. But the drinks and view were nice.
Wound up in Nashville with some friends after Bonnaroo got canceled. A bunch of us went and had a blast. Games were 2 for 1 until 9pm, slices of pizza were $5 and delicious, and 2 drinks for $10 at the door made this place an amazing value. Staff and locals were also super nice. Will definitely be back!
Great draft selections and excellent games! Tried the Dr. Robot and the Bearwalker. The arcade has all the games you could ever want and every game only costs a quarter! Make sure to bring some cash for the machines though.
Bartenders and Atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Bacon Mac Cheese pizza was to die for, Pepperoni pizza was really good, fresh slices until 5 am. Beer selection was one of the biggest I have seen, probably 50-75 choices with alot of local breweries featured. Jay was my bartender for most the night, dude cut it up with me and made recommendations, made me free like a local. Had outdoor seating with shuffle board and heaters. Best of all gaming, anything from Pinball too Arcade cabinets (Vintage and New), e
This is one of my favorite Up-Downs I've visited. I've been to 6 of the locations now, and I really liked the layout and selection of games. I wish they had more indie games. They have the space for them.
Neat little place that has multiple outdoor areas including a rooftop deck; great cocktails end up elevating the experience and the vibe of this place. If you love yourself a good old-fashioned arcade and some games, then it can't get any better than this place. Street parking is available nearby and there's a paid parking lot as well. Overall loved the experience, and would definitely find myself going there again!
Clown hours. Go to Game Terminal instead. Handicap people are clearly not welcome. Couldn't even park the handicap van because management decided the handicap spots were VIP?real nice touch for ADA compliance.
Great pizza and super fun games! This location is really large and has more games than other locations I have been too. As well as a nice rooftop.
Husband and I came here on a whim while looking for somewhere to eat during our stay at The Russell down the street. We did no research and set off from the hotel looking for food. We came for the building, stayed for the pizza, and spent several hours playing the arcade games. One cup of 20 tokens was $5 and each game is 1 token - pretty good deal! We had a blast and made some great memories
My wife and I dropped in with some friends to have some fun with the games and have a few beers. The staff was super nice and the setup with the games was awesome. Definitely reminded me of the old skool arcades from the '70s and '80s. Will definitely return for another visit next time we're in the area - thanks!
The wife and I stopped in before a show we were going to later that night. We just ran across it, and we thought we would kill a little time there. We're certainly glad we did! There were tons of classic arcade games, skee ball, and pinball machines. They have a great menu of beer, so we grabbed a drink and some tokens and went to playing. What a blast! It was a super fun high point of our trip. We would definitely go back!
Loud arcade bar in 5 points e nashville. Goes late and stays lit, we had a great time playing games late night. Get your tokens at the bar instead of the machine, they are cheaper that way, tip the bartenders!
So much fun with TONS of retro games and any others you could want. Lively and vibrant atmosphere with fun retro touches and great service. The max and cheese pizza was exactly what we needed at the end of the night.
So fun! Looked for an arcade that was adult only and found this in the search results. So relaxed and fun, the staff were so friendly and because it was Saturday it was 2 for 1 tokens so we played almost two hours worth of games for only $5! Be aware they have a policy to where back packs aren't allowed in the building but even with that it was such a great place that I can't wait to visit again.
Another great Up Down location! These people have the barcade formula pretty well nailed down at this point. Extensive beer selection. Full bar. An absolute ton of stand up arcade games. Loads of pinball machines. It also has two patio decks and a nice little rooftop bar area. Parking can be tricky. I would recommend going to their website for more info on teserved lots if you're going there in the evening. I didnt get to try their pizza because no one seemed to be working the window between 4-5pm when
My wife and I came here for the start of a date night for something different, and the nostalgia! Great spot and wonderful selection of games and skeeball. Beer list is fairly comprehensive and the pizza was honestly much better than I was expecting. If you are a child of the 80s, you shouldn't miss this place. Bonus points for being 21+.
Fun bar with tons of old-school arcade games. Usually packed on busy nights with all sorts of people having a good time, which can cause the floors and games to get a little sticky. Nice rooftop patio.
Fun place to hang out. Drinks are reasonably priced, plenty of games to play, and you don't feel like you're wasting money on the games, which means you actually want to stay longer. 3 different outdoor patios, which is also nice. It's the kind of place you can hang out for a while, play some games, drink some drinks, and actually socialize because you can actually hear other people over the music. My only complaint would be that they have too many bar stools at the bar. On a really busy night, people s
SOLID line up of modern Pinball machines and classic arcades. Very nice beer selections with reasonable prices. .25 a play is a good deal for a modern Stern. Close enough to downtown but far enough away to avoid the madness. The music selection and television viewing choices are also perfect for the atmosphere. I can't wait to go back.
Fun. Got 6 pack and 1 pound token special $30. Perfect date night cheap was visiting from nyc. Very impressed. Spent 4 to 5 hours playing games a day ate pizza got bacon mac n cheese pizza. The rooftop was cool wished had smore kits for fire pits on the rooftop and air hockey. Lots of pinball machines like ghostbusters, Addams family, south park, flinstones, etc. My bf loved the basketball hoops and watching sports on the TVs.
Prescious with Offline - Nashville Long Island Ice Tea Drinkers, this is your spot. Reasonable prices and some of the best Long Islands that I have had in the city. Underrated but trust me, get two LITs from here before going anywhere else in the city. You won't regret it. Or maybe, you will, lol! Either way, this is the start to your weekend shenanigans.
Cool place to chill out with friends or alone. Plenty of space. Honest cocktails. A photographer on the upper porch. The photobooth is a scam: the payment when through, no pictures printed, nobody to inquire about it.
Great pizza, and even better arcade games! I went with a group of five friends and enjoyed 3 hours there for less than 20 bucks!
Need some nostalgia in your life? Up-down has the arcade lifestyle from your childhood for adults. The 21+ barcade has tons of pinball games, first person shooters, button smashers, DDR, smash bros, all the classics, and alcohol to keep the fun going! They serve pizza and are open till 3am!! Great bartenders, great service, and if you enjoy patio life with your friends they have jumbo Jenga, connect 4, upstairs patio bar, and some classic movies playing on the TV. With a great view of Nashville and a local
What a cool retro arcade and bar. So many nostalgic games to choose from and a really great beer selection. If you do get hungry, they have pizza by the slice as well.
I love coming here when I'm in Nashville. So fun! And the weekday deals are great! The photo booth is lovely (but be careful when swiping your card, it might accidentally charge you multiple times)
Diverse selection of arcade games. The rooftop patio is large and had plenty of booths to cozy up with your friends.
Incredible!! Great fun! Food and drinks are reasonable for a Nashville area bar and the pizza is quite good for the price. We'll be back frequently.
Really cool spot with so many arcade games. Prices are fair for drinks and games, but pizza was not very fresh. That's the reason for the 4 stars here but definitely will return!
Awesome selection of games and outdoor seating. Perfect for first dates and going out with friends.
Loved the classic style, brings back a lot of childhood memories. Issue I had was getting a bunch of coins to find out 3 of the 4 arcades I played were broke. Either the controls didn't work or the boxing game screen went after I started playing. Worker said we keep whatever coins we have as they can't refund them. So I have a bunch of coins I'll never use. From Illinois and visiting Nashville tn. They need to have better upkeep on the arcades and repair them.
This place was so fun, it's such a hidden gem. They had every pinball/arcade game you could think of and up on the rooftop they had giant connect 4 and giant jenga and old movies playing. I didn't try the food but it smelled and looked amazing and everyone around me said how good it was. Their drinks are reasonably priced. It was such a unique place I've never seen another like it. I'd definitely go again!
It's a two level arcade with every game from your childhood that serves pizza and alcohol. What more could you ask for ?
So much fun! My friends and I stopped in on a late Sunday night. Not many other places were open. We played alot of arcade games , got some pizza and took some cool pics! They have pizza by the slice with some crazy toppings like mac and cheese for example. They had very nice bathrooms, which is always a good positive!
What is better than pizza, beerand pinball.
I went in not expecting much but came away really impressed by the quantity, condition of games plus how pleasant, helpful & seemingly happy employees of the place were. myself and four friends hung out for hours just playing games & having beverages on a cold day and it was bank.
An arcade bar where you can play or chill. Tons of great beer choices, $7 cocktails weekdays til 7. $2 pizza on Friday's til 8. The patio has great views of Nashville.
Pizza was $2 a slice, great portions, free tokens Friday, fun games, Nintendo 64 w smash bros and NFL 99 !!
Fun spot with lots of old arcade games. Including the Simpsons, Ninja Turtles, and awesome old school shooters like my favorite House of the Undead. Beer selection was good and staff was really friendly. They also had Mario Kart 64 completely free to play.
Very fun Barcade! They had Pinball, Classic arcade games, giant Jenga, Giant connect 4, Dance Dance Revolution, and more. The place is split into two levels. The upper level has a beautiful rooftop view. The lower level has pizza! Both levels have lots of drinks to try!
Cool spot! Great drink and beer selection, lots of cool games, LOTS of cool areas to hangout inside and outside! Nice staff. Even great pizzas too!
Brittany was a wonderful bartender and gave us the run down. Amazing service and recommendations for only being open a few days. If you are into old school; or video games in general definitely get over here and get to drinking and gaming. Newest best spot in Nash.
I had so much fun. The atmosphere was great and the buffalo chicken pizza was amazing. 10/10 recommend!??
Up/Down is a bar with a ton of arcade games to play. The atmosphere is super fun, and there's a wide variety of games to choose from. Pizza is also delicious.
Cool place. Dive bar but we love those! Cheaper drinks than most places and bartender was super friendly.
This was a fun place to pass the time as a Nashville first timer . The pizza was pretty ok and when I went with my friends, a lot of the games were out of order or it ate our coins. Still it was a good time and we spent nearly 3 hours there! I'd go again! The strawberry bushwhacker was my favorite
This place is more of a nostalgic arcade spot than a traditional bar. From the moment you step inside, you'll feel like you're traveling back in time. You'll be greeted by classic arcade games you might remember from your childhood, or at least have heard of. The lower level is filled with a wide variety of games like Pac-Man, Street Fighter, and pinball machines?something for everyone to enjoy. They use a token system, which adds to the retro vibe. The upper floor is more relaxed, offering a perfect spot t
Great place for adults. Must be 21 or older. Great drink selection and the pizza is great. The roof top is a nice quiet place to hang out
Games movies and pizza. What I normally do all the time but all in one cool spot with a huge patio and fire pits.
Has a very large selection of retro arcade games and draft beers. They also serve house made pizza by the slice as food options, the slices are large in size and come with optional ranch sauce dipping sauce. Very fun place to hang out and play games and eat pizza.
I love this spot! The vibes are nice and the pizza is great. I love the old school games. It's a good date night spot or after hours place.
This place is so fun! Amazing selection of games. Thursdays you can get 50 tokens for $5! We loved playing skee-ball, basketball, N64, and tons of pinball games. I would highly recommend this place and wish we had something like it in our city!
Always have a blast here. For an arcade the games are traditional cheap (1 token to play) which these days is a wonder in and of itself. The atmosphere is awesome, love the decor so much and there are so so many games. The bars are great, fairly priced with drink specials. They serve pizza which looks amazing but I have not yet had the pleasure of trying. Clean facilities, tons of little nooks to hang out in, one of our favorite spots ??
Came here on a recommendation from a local bartender and had no idea it would be such a blast. Arcade had everything I could hope for. We had pizza and it was great drinking food. Really happy with the token Fanny pack promotion, 8 drinks and more than enough tokens for the 2 of us. Well worth it and can't wait to return or visit another location.
Up-Down is one of the favourite spots to visit when in Nashville. Retro vibe, lots of arcade games, always got your classic WWF on tv screens, rooftop is always rocking and has a nice view of the city. Love the classic cheesy slices of pizza and the drinks are decently priced and quite tasty.
It was a fun nostalgic place with tons of games for only a quarter a game, you get free tokens on your birthday and the drinks are pretty good, they only have pizza, but it's good!
Great drinks; the amount of selection is awesome! Loved the games and service but our absolute favorite thing was the Mac and cheese pizza. Oh my gosh it was the best we've ever had. Great place to spend some time. Beautiful view on the second floor patio!
5 stars but definitely pick your bartender. Had drinks I didn't order added to my tab and alcohol left out of my mixed drinks multiple times (same bartender).
Truly outstanding beer selection, beer snobs like me will love it. Wheat beer and milk stout were amazing. Excellent selection of some of the best retro arcade games and pinball machines, recommended for a fun casual night out. Nice outdoor seating too.
I'm telling you this place is like a dream. Alcohol. Video games. Pizza. With an amazing rooftopish bar that overlooks Nashville. Great place to have fun with friends! Loved every second.
Because of my medicine my teeth were blue and the guy at the front door carting accused me of being drunk regardless of me not even smelling of alcohol..... If you don't like a discrimination then avoid this place
A very fun arcade bar with a wide selection of beers, games and pizza by the slice. The beers are the main focus of this bar, with a decent selection of canned drinks and cocktails available too. There is a $10 min on cards so make sure you only close out after you are done with the night. All games take tokens thst can be purchased at 25? each, and are available for 2 for 1 if you go before 8 pm. There are several differ pizzas available by the slice. They are prepared and kept in a warmer so freshness
The up/down is an absolute blast, pretty close to hopping in a time machine. Fantastic collection of games, great service at the bar, pizza window in the back..fun and laid-back vide. The perfect date spot or night out with the amigos!
All of the employees are chill and nice.Great for games, pizza, drinks. A exciting change for me. So much better than other places.
I had such a great time here, I came into work the next day and started telling everybody about this Up Down retro game/bar place that was really fun
I love this place! The staff is great! Great specials on tokens and drinks!! Very nice outdoor patio! Highly recommend ??
Love this place! Only suggestion is adding card games outside like cards against humanity. I go out to bars a lot to play games like this too! Love the big jenga and connect four. Expensive drinks. Cheap games. Fun place! Not too hard to get in to play a game since everyone is also socializing upstairs and downstairs.
I am in love with up/down. Walking distance from my house, rooftop patio, happy hour specials, good pizza, classic games, and friendly & attentive staff. I only wish I could sometimes bring my older teens (19 & 20) but it is 21 & over all the time.
My favorite type of bar, an arcade bar! Was so fun. Games in great condition and lots to choose from. I highly recommend. Reminds me of my favorite local Phoenix bar, Cobra Arcade. Cheers!
Great place to lose a few hours! Like... 5 for us! And we only spent $10 on tokens!!!
Food is great! Very retro place to hang out and have some old school fun!
We love Up-Down!! There is free parking right out front. There is also another lot for parking a block away. Great vibes and tons of vintage video games.
My wife and I seem to be the generation this barcade was modeled after. It has a very Gen X vibe, including about every arcade game I can remember from the ?80s and ?90s, and ski ball, as well as 80s and 90s content on the large TVs around the bar. The pizza by the slice was a good price and really hit the spot. Upstairs is another bar and one of the best outside bar decks I've seen in Nashville. The deck also has games, such as oversized Jenga and oversized Connect Four. We had a great time here and will d
I didn't have the food here so I rated it 3 stars. Every game uses tokens so if you aren't used to that in your arcade bars remember to bring a few bucks for that. Selection was incredible, awesome spaces to drink in, and although the tokens caught me off guard they are super affordable. I will definitely be back.
This was a fun place to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday! Besides my wife wanting to now purchase her own machine to play NFL Blitz 99 on, it was an affordable place to have a fun afternoon. Great beer selection!
This place was exactly what I was looking for while i was in Nashville. The pizxza guy was the true MVP with having Lactaid on hand. Pizza was delicious, beer was cold, and games were on point. What more could you ask for?
This place is Liiiittyyyy!! I love this place great vibes cool atmosphere!! The Mona Lisa pizza and the Froze? are my faves ??!!
Fun spot to drink and play some retro arcade games. They have multiple floors each with different types of games. We didn't try any of the food, but we had plenty of drinks. Overall, seems like a good place for some casual entertainment in East Nasty.
Fun-Filled Arcade Bar Delight ??????? Up-Down Nashville is an absolute gem for anyone looking for a fun night out ??. This adorable arcade bar offers not only great drinks but also delicious oversized pizza slices that hit the spot ??. We recently went on a double date with my sister and her partner, and we had an absolute blast playing ski ball and other arcade games downstairs. It was a perfect icebreaker and set the tone for an amazing evening. Afterward, we ventured upstairs to the charming outdoor p
this place is more fun than it has any right to be. what I love most is that is has every single favorite arcade game from my childhood plus like 20 awesome pinball machines, and no matter which game it is they ALL cost one coin. forget dave and busters and exorbitant prices. drinks are affordable, there are specials every day of the week, and the rooftop is great. go early before all the youngins come out to play and make it crowded and it's even better, ha!
Whose ever idea it was to make every game in the building a dollar, well - they're a genius and I would like to personally thank them. Not only does it make for a fun filled time. It's better than any arcade because you will have infinite fun for just a few dollars. The pizza is the absolute best in Nashville.
Stopped by after work on a Friday. Pizza was great. Two dollar slices on Friday alongside a cold beer or two is a fantastic way to finish the work week. Eclectic assortment of nostalgic games and the manager and I chatted at the bar for half an hour or so. I was told it's far more packed on Saturday nights, but that's not really my scene. Will be back again.
Had the pepperoni pizza which was great. Removed two stars because there were many games not in service & some games ate tokens.
Great fun here! Retro games, plenty of machines, prices of the games are great. Plenty of choices for beer. Ace pineapple was delicious. Only 4 stars on food because the pizza was less than desirable. After 2 bites, and 5 pepperoni I called it quits. Highly recommend this place for adult only fun.
SO much fun! Lots of great drink.
10 cent token Thursday was awesome! Visiting from out of town and wanted a chill but fun bar. So many games to play, each are only one token, and fun atmosphere. Great rooftop too!
A super fun arcade bar! So glad we ended up swinging by here for a fun night. Almost all arcade games were working along with very wide selection to game types. A two level arcade bar that also offered great beer selection. Highly recommend!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Yes, rhythm games in arcades are a vibrant hit in 2025! Titles like Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania deliver high-energy fun, blending music, movement, and precision. Modern machines boast vivid displays, booming sound systems, and diverse song libraries, from J-pop to EDM. They challenge reflexes and rhythm, with competitive leaderboards and tournaments fostering a lively community. Arcade dance floors are regularly packed, proving rhythm games’ immersive, physical thrill keeps them a standout in today’s gaming scene.
