We are regulars here! Well we try to make it at least a couple times a month. My family and I usually visit on Wednesday evenings because it's not so crowded. We usually sit at the bar since it's right in the middle and we can keep an eye on everyone. We talk to the bartender like we've known him our whole life! He knows us and the kids by first names. Always nice to just hang out, drink, and eat! Great family oriented location. But you do have to be out by 9, which is ok with us, my kids have bed times

Looking for the Best Place to Play Japanese-Style Video Games in Arlington, TX? Check Out Tokyo Station! If you're a fan of Japanese arcade games, claw machines, and gacha coin machines, Tokyo Station in Arlington, Texas is a must-visit destination. This unique arcade offers an authentic Japanese-style gaming experience with a wide variety of games available on free play?just pay admission and enjoy unlimited gaming! In addition to classic and modern arcade games, you'll find claw machines filled with fun

Great place, fun staff. Neat concept with great murals. Easy to meet up with others. 1st time here. Bar available for adults. $8 Pizza on Mondays was appreciated on budget! Lots of other specials during weekday. Took my son for birthday.

This really was a let down. We were excited to try a themed arcade. We were also excited to try these special ramen and noodle bowls. The arcade games have broken controllers or delayed response times. The best thing here was the Cup O Ramen game that's a little kid version of the moving basketball game. The build your own ramen bowls seems promising. When we got them, though they looked great, they were so bland. There was no true ?broth? it just tasted like brown water. Even with adding our toppings. I

If you like going to places with 0 people then you will like it. We Went here on a Tuesday night. It was dead haha my extroverted husband didn't like how empty it was. But I loved it. I got to play all the games I wanted and played it multiple times. Workers were chill and helpful. Wish they had more games. It felt like they had tons of knock off or old games. Like not the real guitar hero but a knock off. Or the old Mario kart. But still spend a couple hours there. Food was ok. We got pizza. It was subpa

Terrible experience. Beer list is terrible. Menu is even worse. A lot of classics people love about Free Play are gone. Everything is Japanese themed- games, food- which I guess is amazing if that's what you're into. But if you want the familiar and great Free Play experience- go somewhere else. We will not be back. One star. Do not recommend.

If you like old school arcade games. This is the place for you. The drinks are modestly priced. We had a ball!

I love this place, you go in, pay a bit, and get your moneys worth. Compared to other arcades, you save tons. The games here are amazing, with tons of classics. Also, if you like pinball, you NEED to come here. Tons of different styles of pinball. Lots of fun games to play with friends (guitar hero, basketball, NBA jam, etc?) games are well maintained and almost never out of order. Bar is nice and food is good but a bit pricey. I love this arcade and come here every time I'm in Arlington.

Edited after a very thoughtful response from the operator. Thank you for that, and please accept my apologies. I didn't properly account for the net adds?the pinball area IS free to access, costs and yes, agree that Freeplay does maintain its pinballs in a better fashion. I've seen this firsthand at Richardson?often. Techs are great. Thank you for keeping the Godzilla and Jaws and especially the Tron Legacy LE pinball?it's one of Stern?s greatest games and possibly one of the only public ones in DFW you c

This is one of the coolest places I visited when I was in Texas pay a flat fee to get in then you can buy some drinks play some old retro games and arcade machines. I'll definitely go back if I ever go back to Texas was super chill.

Was a cool concept, but executed poorly. 1 one the biggest draws to that location,, was the abundance of pinball machines. They now, only have a few in the front that you have to pay for. They also got rid of a vast majority of other classic, that you cannot find anywhere else. Extremely difficult to reset the console games, as they are mounted behind the monitors, directly in the middle. Again, great concept, but got rid of some the best things about it to do so.

Formerly "Free Play" now Tokyo Station Free Play. It's different. It has a decent bar with an impressive selection of Japanese whiskey. They play J-pop and anime sound tracks over the sound system, so it's fun, and the immersion is entertaining. The video games are straight out of Japan and more than a few do not have English instructions. I lived in Japan for a few years and know passable Japanese, but honestly, they are not hard to figure out if you have no language skills at all. The pay to enter gami

We were already fans of freeplay, but they've made it even better with the Tokyo Station theme. The games are refreshed old school classics and are in great shape. Our group played for several hours and everyone loved it!

I'm glad to see they've addressed most of my concerns from my previous review. Long story short, memberships are back and can be used at Toyko Station and all Free Play Arcades in DFW. As well as 4 more pinball machines have been added. (Originally 7 and now it's 13 with more hopefully planned) However you still have to pay each time you play a table using those plastic cards like a modern arcade. (Not a fan of this move, but it's something) The people here are great and aside from some minor hiccups and k

Definitely focused more on the latest games from Japan rather than catering to arcade nostalgia. Staff was super friendly, one saw I had a Guilty Gear shirt on and offered to switch one of the machines to play it. Really great experience

Drinks seemed a bit expensive, but I guess they have to make money somewhere. Great Value spent 4 hours there with my grandson for $14 per person. He had a great time. Therefore, I had a great time. Water was plentiful and free.

Tokyo Station is a complete reboot, so the 4.7 rating from 2,500+ past reviews doesn't really apply anymore. The new space is clean and comfortable, with a creative instant ramen bar and refreshingly honest signage about the claw game odds. They even offer free play on the super cool arcade game Killer Queen. That said, the paid game selection felt very underwhelming?but that's a matter of personal taste. Fortunately, it looks like they plan to rotate games regularly, so here's hoping future lineups appeal

I love free play. The staff is extremely friendly and theres a lot of games that can entertain you for hours. I love that you only have to pay once which really allows you to have fun and save your money. I recommend going here.

We have been going to Free Play since it opened and was shocked to hear they switched it to Tokyo Station. We kept open mind and went to check it out tonight , but it just isn't our thing. Wish y'all the best but won't be back.

Bar, arcade, and claw machines were very good! Most of the claw games are skill based so you honestly have to think creatively and be accurate for some wins. Our group was able to win multiple prizes and were very satisfied with the music, atmosphere, and drinks. My only gripe is the food selection having limited options but I'm not going to a barcade for their food options. Many fun Japanese styled rhythm games, racing games, and fighting game cabinets in the ?free play? section( ~$12). A bit tight on th

The best sushi place in Fort Worth! Fresh fish, generous portions, and a cozy environment that makes dining enjoyable.

One of my go-to local spots for pinball; games mostly functioning properly, staff is super nice. Godzilla pinball alone is worth the admission.

If you love japan and/or Japanese games, then you'll love this place. Beer menu is awesome. Imported (i assume it's imported) and on draft asahi, Sapporo, and kirin. The stable beers of japan! I didn't try the food but expect some good instant noodles. The rhythm game section is amazing and the sit down cabs are full of games I've never heard of. They also have some classic wooden cabs that originated in japan. Theres claw machines as well but i suck at those so I didn't even try. Go there

I am giving this place a 4 out 5 stars. Maybe in the future they can upgrade the free play area and expand it somehow. While all of the games were nice, I think the free play area could profit more with expanding the building in that manner. One of the games in particular, Point Blank 2, was not working properly, as it seemed the hit detection on screen needed to be re-calibrated. On to the ramen, it's kind of pricy. You pick your base noodles of what you would like, but they're all pre-packaged. I think t

A wonderful spot for sushi lovers. The rice and fish are perfectly balanced, and the rolls are beautifully crafted.

I love coming here for authentic Japanese cuisine. The quality and presentation of the food is consistently excellent every visit.

At FreePlay you're welcomed by friendly well trained staff, charged with a surprisingly cheap 13 bucks, and overwhelmed with nostalgia from the old 80s games, and amazing 80s and 90s jams. You get to witness the people of the older generations melt over certain games and tell their kids about how they used to play this with their friends and that this is their childhood. Never very crowded even on a Friday night.

Tokyo Station offers a great variety of sushi rolls. The flavors are vibrant, and the service is attentive and quick.

It wasnt terrible but the selection is small and most of it is gotcha that cost extra being 3/4th of what's available. Plus no sweets available

We had a great time here. My brother and I both went here for the first time while he was visiting. There are lots of games I haven't played in years, and some I never played. It was fantastic, I got to play some of my old favorites like Tron and Disks of Tron.

Love this location, one of our family & friends spot we hit up . Food is great, the people there are incredibly patient with our little ones 2/6 years old . We always eat at the bar, drinks are super cold and people are very pleasent and accommodating.

Great fun place. Focus is on games first. You play a cover and play as many games as you like, since they're all set to Free Play mode. Decent food, good drinks. Cup holders have been added to many of the pinball machines.

Great game selection as well as drink selection! Can't beat the price for the experience you're getting! I will say, because all games are on free play mode, you can obviously have unlimited lives, which can in some ways make it less fun since you know there's no cost to you in getting more lives. But aside from that it's great!!

Free Play locations are ALL amazing but this one has some more room compared to others. It boggles my mind because it would take me a good 72 hour lock-in to get a good game in on every machine. Amazing staff and collection of games. Well worth your time. They always have events going on as well which are free and yet you can still win fantabulous prizes. Come get some. Food and beverages also available.

We are Gen X, and spent our anniversary here. It was a perfect date place. The DJ played the best 80s music, the arcade games took us right back to our high school days, the food and drinks were awesome, and service was super friendly and inclusive. I totally recommend it!

The menu has something for everyone, and the chefs clearly care about the quality of each dish they prepare.

My first time hanging out in Dallas and I'm here because of the Metallica show. Checked out this place because the Metallica interactive map showed it as a cool hangout. I was not disappointed. I played tons of games from my teenage years & the beer selection was on point as well.

The chefs create delicious sushi with fresh ingredients. The staff is courteous and helpful.

I love FreePlay, and this was my first visit to the Arlington location. Every location is a little different, but the bites and drinks are always on point, as expected. Went on a Sunday afternoon; enjoyed an almost empty arcade and $3 mimosas. Great bar crew! The pesto pizza was excellent, and of course the games are always great.

Great value for the theme they made here. It's uniquely special for those older and younger. Just plan on brining a friend or two as some of the games do require beyond a single player.

$29 for an 80's themed all you can play arcade experience was right up our alley! This was our 1st time here, but won't be the last. There is a great mix of nostalgic arcade games, a bar, and kitchen. Perfect for a date night or a quick escape from reality!

This place is incredible! My favorites are the pinball machines. My wife and I can spend hours there. Great place to go and have some fun, and be kind of a kid again.

howdy everyone for reference, I'm writing this on graduation weekend, after the Tokyo Station update the tl;dr is $12 for a lot of fun western retro arcade cabinets, alongside a lot of Japanese fighting + rhythm games, so please consider stopping by detailed review: First, I'd like to thank FreePlay for introducing more rhythm and fighting games to the FreePlay section of the arcade. My friends and I had a blast especially with Dancerush, as well as Guilty Gear Strive and Vampire Savior. If nothing else,

This place is fantastic! Pinball, car race, shooting, basketball, dance, guitar and a lot of classical machines - whatever you can imagine. For a continuous play I recommend the James Bond pinball. Any technical issues were fixed immediately. There is even free water to drink! Staff is super kind!

Chill spot to kick it with friends or even on a date night. Enjoyed the variety of arcade games and pin ball machines. Definitely a nostalgic moment walking into this place. I'll bring our kids next time so they can see how this dad used to do it back in the day lol. Good selection of craft beers. Give them a try next time you want to try something different

The sushi here is delicious and fresh. The presentation is beautiful, and the staff is welcoming.

Fresh fish and expertly made sushi. The service is friendly and attentive, making every visit great.

Friendly staff, clean environment, and consistently delicious sushi. I always leave happy and satisfied with my meal.

A fun place for sure! Old school arcade all you can play! The game room is a nice size. It has a kitchen so you can order food. I went with the grilled cheese and it came with chips. They also have bar . You can purchase beer, mixed drinks, or soda. Other then that go play your day away. Felt like a kid again, except I didn't run put of change when I got to a high level to beat the game lol. I played some of my favorites and introduced them to my kids. They have plenty of pinball machines if you're a pinb

Tokyo station is SUCH A SHAM! we have been to Japan and we have played at clawzania here in Arlington. Clawzania is off-brand but you won a lot of stuff. This place is a money grabbing place. A HUGE NO! Do not waste your money. Spent $60 in three $20 cards. Basically donated $6 to the place because each card had $2 left and you could do nothing with that. Very poor experience. Go to Clawzania. Also Asia Times Square you have better chance of getting bang for your buck.

Snap back into the past here! Retro games was so much fun! They have food and beverages! No minors after 9pm! 11.99 all day fun!

I enjoyed every bite of the sushi rolls. The quality of ingredients is outstanding.

Great sushi with a clean, welcoming environment. The staff makes you feel right at home.

This used to be my family's favorite place in Arlington... But most of the old machines are gone and the new rebrand is not as good. Half the amount of pinball with those machines pay to play.

Great games. Good food and really good drinks. Super helpful staff everytime I have been here. Love the atmosphere and all of the pinball machines!! Plenty of seating to just chill and hang with friends!

The coolest freaking place I've ever been. I want to live here. I would end it at that but it doesn't do the place justice. - Entry is super cheap - All the games are set to free play - full bar - surprisingly excellent food - super cool staff If I die, bury me here.

Awesome place for arcade games! It was $12 per person when we went and you can come and go through the day as you please as long as you keep your wristband on. Good beer selection! Clean games and environment. Dragon Tales cocktail was great!

Places like this are keeping Arcades alive plus alcohol so what's not to like??? Great advient , classic rock and hip hop music form 80s to 90s and more, $10 to play all the arcades you want, tournaments and the fun just goes on. Real great throw back to once childhood but with alcohol, bring your friends, family, who ever is such a great place =:D

The quality and freshness of the sushi are impressive. The staff is attentive and kind.

The ambiance at Tokyo Station is peaceful and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal with friends or family.

I really enjoy the crowds this place draws, even on a slow day, like Mondays and sometimes Tuesdays. But, if you happen to be apart of the Free Play Arcade Community on Facebook, you can participate in all sorts of fun game nights at both the Arlington location and Richardson. Ladies Nights, Puzzle Nights, Tuesday Night Fights are always good fun. Plus, if you play enough, you'll start to see a repeat in customers and heavy game hitters. On the wall to the left is a placard to a community member that broke

I had my (adult) birthday party at Free Play in Arlington and it was great! I had never even been before, but it was exactly what I hoped. There were a ton of arcade games (mostly older ones), as well as two of those basketball games, two skee ball games, and a bunch of pinball machines. The music was a nice mix for us, and not too loud to converse. You can reserve a table there for a party and order some food and drink tickets ahead of time, which was convenient. You can also open a tab for people to get i

Really cool place for kids and adults. Love that they have the old school games. The good is good and very reasonable.

Tokyo Station is the perfect place for sushi lovers. Fresh ingredients and great flavors every time.

Crowded as usual. Very big with lots of options for food shop and connections with so many lines to travel

Great place to be a kid at 60yrs

My 7 year old was there for a birthday party. She isn't into video games but really enjoyed playing with them. I personally love the amount of pinball machines as it is my favorite.

Love this place. Stayed for 3 hours and couldn't play near close to all the games... food is great. Beer and liquor endless variety. All arcade games up and running as if they were brand new. The pin ball section is amazing.

Great place to go if you are wanting to play arcade games as long as you want. One price = All You Can Play. A lot of fun with TVs, food, and beverages also.

Don't go. The pinball machines cost now, and their 4 dollar ramen is just microwaved ramen from the grocery store. Not a good time at all. And it stinks in here.

Friendly and efficient service with consistently fresh and delicious sushi. Highly recommend.

We had so much fun as a family playing all the games. It is nice to relive some of our childhood games but not have to spend a fortune at the arcade ??. The music is loud, the temperature is cool, the bathrooms are clean, and the workers are friendly. If we were going back to Arlington, we would definitely stop here and play again.

Incredible place, relive your inner childhood, I definitely recommend this place at $10.00 a person plus tax well worth the rate for UNLIMITED GAME PLAYS. People constantly move around so their is no wait time. Definitely bring your kids with you and Adults They have food and BEER YEY,LOL.... Outdoor patio and much more.....

Tokyo Station offers a clean and inviting atmosphere with amazing sushi and great service.

Lots of old school games. Kids first time playing pinball! Staff were all friendly and did a great job! Food was delicious. Great atmosphere! Definitely worth the drive.

This place offers excellent sushi with great flavors and generous portions. Highly recommend visiting.

The menu offers a great variety of options. The sushi rolls are fresh and delicious.

A great place to go no matter your age. Very inexpensive fun for the whole family.

A clean and welcoming place with delicious sushi. The staff is friendly and makes you feel comfortable.

The chefs at Tokyo Station are very skilled. The sushi rolls taste amazing and look beautiful.

Tokyo Station is a great spot for a casual yet delicious Japanese meal. Highly recommend the sushi.

The chefs use high-quality ingredients, and the sushi rolls are always delicious and fresh.

It was great! Had a lot of fun playing the games I use to play and the pinball machines were awesome.

This was the highlight of our father's day celebration. We heard about it through a friend and decided to check it out. It was very crowded... Probably due to the holiday. Despite the crowd, there was always a game free to walk up and try out. The pay at the door and play as much as you like idea was awesome... Especially with kids. Anyone who has ever taken kids to an arcade knows how quickly you can blast through game credits. We were able to entertain ourselves for hours here. Some of the more wel

I love the fresh fish and the quality of their rolls. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant.

AVoiD! Total ripoff. Games use tokens or card. But not every game uses both and there's no way to exchange. They stole $20 from me with no method to provide the ability to play the games. Asked for assistance and got a ?nope?

Fresh sushi with great flavors and a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
