Timeline Arcade

Reviews Summary

Timeline Arcade offers a nostalgic experience with a vast selection of classic arcade and pinball games, appealing especially to those who grew up in the 80s and 90s. Many visitors praise the unlimited play model and reasonable pricing, with hourly or all-day passes. However, frequent complaints highlight broken or poorly maintained machines, particularly pinball and fighting games. While some find the atmosphere fun and well-executed, others feel the $10/hour rate is steep given the number of non-functional games. The Hanover location is noted as smaller and less impressive than York, but still enjoyable for retro gaming fans. BYOB nights and family-friendly hours add to its appeal, though maintenance issues dampen the experience for some.

One of our all time favorite places to take the kids! Amazing atmosphere, great pricing, so many games!

Good for a rainy day. Space is a little tight and a fair amount of pinball machines that don't work or need repair. A lot of games to choose from though. Still had fun.

Pretty cool place. It has a lot of retro pinball machines and other traditional style arcade games. You pay by the hour, the games themselves are free. Dark inside, weird lighting, located in an old bank- do not touch the vault!

Lots of machines didn't work or something on them does not work. The band you wear to remind you of the time you have left is not cleaned/disinfected between customers. They made the parent pay the entrance fee even thought not playing any games. We won't be coming back.

Not as good as the York location, but a blast nonetheless. Great selection of games. Two-thirds of the pinball machines were working. Very cramped inside. Made the mistake of going during a kids? birthday party, so that's something to avoid if possible. Employees were friendly and helpful.

Went to the newly reopened Timeline Arcade in Hanover, PA. Had a ton of fun. My favorite part was playing Super Mario 3 on the console they have setup. Nice comfy couch, could play for hours. Maybe if that IronBuddah guy had ASKED he would know they have a lot to choose from. Had a blast playing Mars Attacks Pinball. The Batman Driving game is hella cool. They are constantly adding games, still easily the best arcade around with almost 100 games even golf! All for $10 bucks an hour or $25 for all day?

This arcade is fantastic!! Sooo many great games, there is never enough time to play them all. Even if you're there with the all day pass. One of my favorite things is being able to byob and drink while playing games with friends!!! We love going here!!

Only been here once but I will tell you, I loved it! They've got almost any classic arcade game you can think of: Ms.Pacman, Galaga, Space Invaders, Pacmania, Donkey Kong Jr, Fix It Felix Jr, Punch Out, ect. There's even a few pinball machines all over the place as well. And if you'd like, there's even a few retro game consoles such as NES, Super NES, and Sega. Heck, there's even some of the new consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One! This place is amazing! If you haven't came here yet you should! I will make

This place was great! Not only do they have arcade games, they also have an area set up with consoles and games. And if a machine is ever malfunctioning, then you can call up a staff member and have the machine fixed very quickly! It was cool exploring the multiple different rooms that they have full of things to play. They also have snacks and drinks to buy if you want anything.

I love coming here with my godson and playing all the different video games they have to offer. This place is amazing for kids and adults!!! Hanover, thank you for putting this downtown for our youth to enjoy a nice, clean night out.

Went on a cold Saturday in November looking for some warm entertainment. Lots of machines were broken down. Price is cheap so I'll go again, I was just disappointed that I was bored in about 40 minutes because the working machines were occupied.

Amazing!! This place is super affordable and all the games are super cool.

Affordable, friendly staff and convenient parking. The inside is a little tight but they have lots of stuff to play, including about a dozen pinball machines. The Elton John pinball game was the best, in my opinion.

If you love retro games, you will love this place! I love how you don't have to pay per play, you just pay $10 an hour, and they even have all day play passes for only $25! My son wanted to go to an arcade for his 8th birthday, so we brought him here and he had a blast! His favorite machine to play is the Stranger Things pinball! The employees are kind and helpful, and encourage you to give feedback on the games. We love this place and are so glad they are back in Hanover!

There is a ton of nostalgia at this place. I felt like I was at a museum more than an arcade. Unfortunately there are many games with faulty buttons and some that do not work at all. I love the idea and spirit behind this place but $10.00 per hour is steep. I would never spend $10 on these games in an hour because most were only a quarter per turn back in the day. One hour is not enough time to enjoy all these games.

What a horrible experience. I hosted a surprise party and rented their "private" space. The space was filthy, floors have not been vacuumed in what seemed like months, the counters were sticky, food left all over. There was old party stuff everywhere, tools and cords laying around, we had to move all of that before setting up. The setup was only allowed to start 1 hour before the party and they had a very PROMPT leave time. They came in at 753 to ask when we were leaving when we had til 8. Also asked for pa

Very cool! Really awesome selection of cabinets! Great pinball here! Prices are pretty high, $10/hr - max/all-day $25.

Awesome old school arcade games , time flies when playing so it would be best to get the day pass. Located on the 2nd floor of the building so there are a few steps.

Kids were so excited to go and were greatly disappointed when we were told about policy change, Unfortunately, they changed their policy at both locations where you have to pay admission now, instead of only paying for the people actually playing games. They require adults to accompany children, so this is now crossed off our list of activities to do with the kiddos. Lost our business and many other families are not going anymore either because of this. Very sad. Shame the policy was changed. Update:

Staff members were super friendly. Got to learn about the establishment and the funny story behind the bank vault door (the location used to be an old bank) We came on movie night so there was a special rate, also BYOB (beers) so that was pretty cool. This is an honest review, no establishment is perfect. Some downside is that the location is a bit small compared to others, so slightly less games, but still a wide variety. They have a pool table that's a plus? BUT YOU GUYS NEED TO LEVEL IT, all the balls ro

I was very excited to see that they reopened After an extended closure. Have been many times in the past when they were in the North Hanover Mall and even on the second floor of their current location. Always had an amazing number of classic cabinet games and pinball with a few modern mixed in. We went the weekend of November 10th 2023 and the new location is a step down from the previous two. Loaded with pinball and less cabinet games. A number of games were not working or in need of fixing. I was disappo

I drove over an hour to visit and this place is literally half the arcade it used to be. Visually, it looks cooler than it did in the past but there are not as many games as there used to be. I recommend going to the York location if you get an all day pass since there is more there. I decided not to take off more stars because it hasn't been open that long and I have faith the owner is working hard to work out the bugs and will probably expand.

Awesome time with my son! He actually enjoyed playing half of the pinball games, which he has never done. Besides a few machines out of order, the overall variety was great.

It was fun but they had a lot of machines that were not operational.

We went here for a bit of Nostalgia and the place delivered with that. There are tons of games from the 80's and 90's along with a large selection of pinball machines. The way the place operates is it gives you a card that you need to activate most of the machines. The card is kind of you game pass and tracks the amount of time you've been there. Its $10 for the first hour (minimum) and then $5 for each half hour after that (and they round down). You can also buy an all day pass for $25 which allows yo

Here for a birthday party and im shocked to the amount of machines that do not work. 30% easy.... Even the working pinball machines have issues with them. Floating balls... Stuck flippers that will not move... Place was so much better when it was upstairs... Shame...

This place is awesome, highly recommended!!! Great game selection, homey feel, and super nostalgic Great to pop in even if only in town for a brief period

Stopped in mid-January on a Saturday evening. The first two pinball machines I tried to play did not work. The mini golf game was not working. The basketball game was not working. Neither was skee ball. I finally saw someone mention something to the employee about skee ball and they fiddled with it for a while and got it working for a little bit. There's a motorcycle game we tried to play that and one of the brake levers is completely broken off. Pinbot pinball was not working . The Simpsons game has line

Lots of fun, great new and older games in good working order. Brings back lots of great memories from a simpler time now long ago.

i did a little weekend getaway with my boyfriend and came to this arcade twice during my stay. It was amazing. Id love to do the all day pass and really get better with some of the games there when I'm back in town. The staff were friendly and helpful. A lot of games brought back memories and others were pleasant surprises. Free parking on the side of the building made it hassle free as well. I can't wait to return.

TL;DR Half the stuff isn't working which loses the value of spending $10 an hour or even $25 a whole day You can find a few games worth your time and money. Playing the Batman Arcade game and the stranger things pinball work great. MK2 cabinet is nice. Skeeball is great. hence the 2 stars and not 1. BUT half of the stuff is in pretty rough shape to a point they're unplayable. I'm not asking for pristine condition. I understand these machine get used up. I'm just going to leave a few examples and leave it a

This place is 5 star all the way. Not only do they have pretty much EVERY vintage arcade game, but the staff is super friendly, the games are all in excellent 100% functioning condition, and everything is so reasonably priced. The games were in better condition than most were in the 90s, I noticed the staff checking over and cleaning the joysticks, steering wheels, buttons, etc. as customers played the games. I was very impressed with the quality of this operation. For $10 you can go crazy for an hour

Everything you could ever want to play, allows byob, pay one price for everything per hour, only problem was some units weren't converted to the new system so you need someone to come activate it for you.

I LOVE this place. It's so far from my house, like every place that is so rad but I can't wait to go here again! The free play model is great and the hourly/daily rate is a totally fair price. You're definitely not getting ripped off. You can easily spent hours simply playing pinball. Can't recommend enough.

The employee working while we were there (1/18) was extremely polite and helpful. We took advantage of the BYOB offer, which was very easy. While there were some games that were out of order that we wanted to play, I can only imagine the work that has to go into getting them fixed constantly, so it wasn't nearly enough games down to be an issue for us. Throw in that they had a working air hockey table, a large amount of consoles, rock band, and some unique games we hadn't seen before, and we know we will

We went for our first time around 830pm on a Tuesday night. We had the whole place to ourselves! We had a great time playing for an hour at the rate of $10 an hour. Lots of games to play. Staff was super helpful and friendly, made out first visit an amazing experience. We enjoyed the games from Air Hockey to Vintage Pinball Machines. There are a great many steps to go up to get to the entrance but what better way to get a little exercise before playing some video games.

My favorite out of the two. Unfortunately, a few of my go-to games weren't in service. And I'm not sure they knew, as there were no signs on them. I hear they've been fixed since I visited. I get that the machines are old and they're going to break. It was just a bit disappointing for my first visit. Overall a great idea and a wonderful layout. The Hanover arcade has more of the old-school arcade vibe than the York location does. It's nice that if you get the day pass, you can come and go as you ple

I was very excited to go here with my girlfriend this past weekend. Both of us love arcades and we wanted to go to one with a strong, authentic retro vibe for our 1 year anniversary, and this looked like the perfect fit. Their website listed a ton of cabinets and games we both remember and love. We drove all the way from Reading and bought day passes as soon as we got there. Unfortunately, I'd estimate about 40% of all the cabinets weren't working for some reason or another: marked "out of order", one pinba

If you love real arcade games, and don't like paying a lot of money this place is awesome! My son is 5 and we both enjoy our time when we go. Nice flat rate, not pay per game. They also have a place where you can purchase vintage games and systems for almost every platform. If you haven't been here yet I highly recommend it.

Literally like walking back into Time Out arcade of the 80s. Great selection of machines all kept up in great shape. Very cool EM collection and the nicest Frogger around! Check this place out!

Timeline Arcade is literally the best arcade I've ever been to and I'm 35 years old, SO MUCH TO DO! The place is super clean and has a ton of arcade as well as console games that you can play. Also they have a movie room and party room for kids. You pay for you pass and can play at your own will. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!! ??????

Very nostalgic. Great old time video games but many machines were out of order or had joysticks that did not work very well. The pinball machines had a good selection as well but many are in need of leveling and repair. Not really worth the price that we paid. Please fix and maintain these classics and people will keep coming. Fail this, and soon this arcade will be a memory too. Also not very handicap accessible up a flight of stairs.

This place is hands down the most fun I have had in a long time. I grew up in the 80s and it has every arcade game and pinball game. Awesome play by the hour rates. It's a really fun way to spend on your day off with whoever doing something different!

Great place, especially if you grew up in the 80s and 90s. I have a 5 year old son now and it's awesome to let him experience the games I played growing up. Huge fan of the basketball hoop and all the original board games. Wish they had a snack bar, if you're there all day you could get hungry. It's understandable, why they don't though. Overall a great place and my son loves it so we will definitely be going again. We're actually going back today.

Let me start with the good. The atmosphere is good and there is a vast areay of all your favorite are arcade and pinball machines. Our group went with 6 of us and we paid for the all day passes. It's nice because you can come and go as you please all evening. Now unfortunately, the experience was hindered by quite a few machines (especially the fighters) being broken. I understand the older machines take a lot of work to maintain, but we are talking mainly about analog joystick and button replacement. These

Great staff, great atmosphere. About 10 games are out of order but that's to be expected with very old, impossible to find arcade games. And with the arcade having so many games, there's still alot to choose from. Was disappointed the dance dance revolution was broke though. I went my first time from 10 PM to 1am, so I dont know about the day crowds. Really enjoyed racing and bowling with my friend. It was even fun to try to figure out some of the older machines. Def going back

It's cool and everything, just wish the games were more maintained. The last time I played Pole Position, the car accelerated by itself, and pressing the gas pedal acted like a brake. The Pac-Mania game control stick didn't work the last time I was there, and there are a couple of older pinball machines that have problems. For me, the $18 price for 2 people for a half hour, is outrageous if the games aren't being maintained to be in good working order. Other than that, it's really cool to go back to the

If you enjoy pinball or classic video games you gotta checkout Timeline! Pay per hour or for the day, play as much as you want. BYOB and open late for adult fun. They can even do kid's birthday parties. Timeline Arcade is awesome!

Pretty good retro arcade but really bad staff. We stood here for 10 minutes with not a soul in the place - completely open but unattended - even checking the back rooms after a while. When she eventually wandered back in I legitimately felt like I was bothering her just by asking how to start one of the games, which turns out they had configured incorrectly to still require quarters. I got a dramatic high school sigh and useful suggestions like ?did you push the start button? and ?it works, your just doin

Very cool place for those that want to relive the experience of a 80s/90s arcade. Came here for Halloween last year. They have a nice selection of games, including all the big titles I remember from my childhood. Had a few issues with the cards working in a machine or two but no big deal.

Love that they have all the games I grew up with! Huge selection of the most popular arcade and console games, pinball, skee ball, air hockey and more! Love that the Hanover location is BYOB at night as well. Only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that quite a few games seemed to have minor issues (guns not calibrated for shooting games, buttons not working etc)

Great little video arcade! Tons of old games and air hockey table! Ski ball and hoops

This place has some flaws (N64 controllers not very good, couple machines out of order) but the pros definitely outweigh the cons here! Love coming back to this place monthly and enjoying myself for an hour. For only 10 bucks, why not?!

Really nice selection of titles and tons of fun to be had if you were an arcade dweller in the past. The only real downside I would say is pricing. If you are a parent and have multiple children you will spend allot of money. I find it unreasonable that there is no discounted rate for children. No matter what the age you pay the same price and that can be very expensive. Before I took my entire family I had been there once before in the past, but only because it was $5.00 for the entire day and I wanted to

Found this looking up old school arcades. Downside was that it was an hour and a half drive. Upside was that it had some good old classic games! They had a good selection of arcade classics and pinball games - even had couch games of old school nintendo console games. Plan to be there a couple hours, hard to walk away from the fun.

Games were obviously well cared for with a good number there and in working order. Staff was extremely prompt in helping me, and I was rather needy with the Back to the Future pinball machine. Will definitely be back! Want to support them so they stay open FOREVER!

We went here off a wimb on my son's 11th birthday. The place we wanted to go was closed so we were looking for a fun cheap place. We found the arcade on google and figured why not. We had a blast! We played so many arcade games I haven't seen since I was a child and I loved that you just swipe a card instead of having tokens. There was unlimited play and you pay by the time. They also have BYOB adult nights which me and my fiance definitely plan on attending :)

Definitely a must visit place if you're into Pinball or Arcade or both or you never experienced this stuff before I definitely recommend you come to this place as for me and many others of my generation this is a trip down memory lane. They have an amazing and very nice selection of arcade machines and Pinball to choose from. Awesome atmosphere friendly customer service. Plus the admission price can't be beat. So I highly recommend you come and check this place out you never know there might be something in

What a neat and well executed concept! If you were a child of the 80's this place will bring back wonderful memories of all the time you lost in your youth. All the arcade classics are here and the price is more then reasonable to play all day if you so desire. My only complaint is there were a few classics I wanted to play that were out of order. (Contra, APB) along with a few controllers that were a bit wonky, but that's all part of the experience. Great place for the young and old alike, with plenty of g

Proper Arcade that I visit often. I really wish the machines had proper maintenance. Internal batteries are dead on almost all machine and no high scores are saved. A few machines don't work correctly as said below but this is a minority. I have seen them fixed up over time. People do need to realize that parts are no longer made. Price is $10 per hour per person or all day pass for $25.

Not a bad place, but not great either. Parking is kind of in a shady area, because its on the side of the building. No cameras an no security. Parking is also very tight; as in.. if you don't pull forward as much as possible, you risk getting hit in the rear bumper when someone pulls in down the street. Inside was a little confusing; for people who are not familiar with the town/area, once you enter the establishment, take the stairs on the immediate left. The arcade is located on the second floor. Th

I absolutely love this idea! There seems to be no good arcades around York, PA, so you can imagine my surprise when I found this place. The prices are pretty decent, and they offer a very WIDE selection of fighters, shooters, pinball, and many other types of games. The one and only big downside is that many of the games require some heavy maintenance. For example, I played the Jurassic Park shooter, and the guns sensor was completely knackered. You had to hold the gun well above your head for the game even

This arcade is a Hanover gem. It's an affordable arcade with a bunch of games from the past. There is also awesome pinball machines. The guy at the front desk was really awesome and made nice small talk. Will always come back!

Drove up from Baltimore on a Friday evening and was not disappointed. BYOB policy is great, brought in a six pack and played games for over 3 hours. Great investment on a night out that is still cheaper than going to the movies. We only planned on staying for maybe an hour to keep the price at 10 bucks each, but there were so many old games to play that we haven't seen since we were kids, so we couldn't leave! The free play aspect is awesome, we ended up getting stuck on a single machine because we could ke

It's a really fun place and a great value. Just know that some machines may be down, and some don't work perfectly. But these arcade games are classics. The assortment of new and classic consoles is also great!

My favorite arcade! Plenty of games to play, along with consoles and pinball! They always switch out stuff so you always can come back to some new stuff to play. They also have a Byob option which is fun. Nice staff. Super fun place!

Great price to play old school arcade games. Wish they had a bigger selection and maybe less pinball machines. I was definitely impressed with the game console area! They have every single game console I played as a child and more!

Huge disappointment thought we would try the hanover location because we were in hanover. Been to york location many times 3 or 4 times the size . Son and his friend didn't want to stay the time paid for.

I loved the all day special at this arcade. If you love classic games and pinball, this is the place to go! It was great to go with friends and we did not run out of games to play. Definitely going to go again!

No games for children to play, says family oriented but the skiball was out and that's the only game here for kids to play. When asked after being there for 15 minutes out of my hour I asked for a refund and was told no.

We took our grandkids to this place and they had a good time. The only downside was that numerous games were out of order but there were plenty that did work.

Great family place. Pricing is a bit weird and high, and there were a number of broken or unmaintained games (faded, wobbling screens, controls that were unresponsive or had dead areas) but still thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Go, but maybe not often.

Great experience for the dollar. A few of the games were broken, but they had PLENTY to play otherwise including TV's with SNES, NES, Genesis, Playstation 1/2/3/4, XBOX, Colecovision, and lots more. All the games are unlocked since you play by the 1/2 hour.

A bit over priced, need to average 15+ games an hour before you get your money's worth. Several games broken, several had issues with card swipe. It can get crowded, and loud with lots of kids.

There were alot of games but too many broken ones. Many games start but don't play properly. Metallica pinball and spy hunter were both down which is what I came here to play. 25$ for unlimited pass is not worth it for the condition of the games here. If the games all worked it would be 5 stars

Great place, drove about 75 mins to visit. Some games were not working which is why I couldn't give 5 stars. Some that didn't work had an out of order sign posted but others did not. Really nice nostalgia though!

Cool BYOB arcade. Lots of pinball. A few old school arcade shooters. Some new age games all in one place. A good place to bring a few friends to chill. A ton of the machines are broken though... All the good ones... Like all the two person shooter games.

A party of 6 of us--ages ranging from early to late 30's--recently made the trip to Hanover (evening of 9/15) with the goal of spending a number of hours exploring this unique landmark. All of us have a lot of love for both retro and modern gaming, so an "unlimited play" pass at Timeline Arcade had the potential to make for a super fun trip down memory lane; but then what we discovered was a venue that has a ton potential that is, sadly, being squandered by poor operation. Here's my list of issues: 1) at

Fun had by all. If only there was a good food joint close by. If beer is your thing, there are good opportunities to quench your thirst. Two hours won't be enough time. Do four hours and take a break at the halfway point.

My girlfriend surprised me and took me to this place. I was blown away we had such a great time. She also took me to A2z toys down the road and the Hanover Hub for lunch. We played Turtles in Time and BEAT IT! Felt like a kid again. Thanks for a great time

This place was a blast. We had a great time with our kids and can't wait to visit again. They have games for all to enjoy. and a whole row of pinball machines

This would be a great place if the machines were better maintained. Some of the games have not worked well since they were at the mall, and on my last visit, 3 of the pinball tables were unplayable due to missing balls. I'm going to keep returning to support the place though.

Where else can you go to play arcade games? Sure Dave and Busters, and places like that offer arcade games... But not the classics that i want to play! Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, Terminator 2, Star Wars... I mean, come on! If you aren't coming to Timeline, you're missing out. Definitely brings me back to 1992 and Super-Saturday at Putt-Putt. I'll be going as long as i have time. Its the best!!

This place is amazing, it was so many arcade games and you can play as many as you want for just ten dollars an hour. I went there for my birthday and I loved it. Underneath of the arcade is a really cool videogame shop where they sell retro videogames and consoles too. They arent overly priced either.

I visited with a good friend. We basically zoned out for three solid hours, mashed various buttons and joysticks, developed a keen sense of the past, forgot our stations in life, and fed invisible coins from a bottomless bag into the mechanized electro cabinets. They have Gauntlet. They. Have. Gauntlet.

Great place! Felt like I took a time machine to 1985. So many games. Looking forward to going back soon. Here are just some of the classic games they have. Asteroids, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-man, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Joust, Galaga, Galaxian, Centipede, Berzerk, Toobin, Rampage, Phoenix, Street Fighter, Double Dragon, Spy Hunter, Q*bert, Pole Position and many, many more. Plus some of the best pinball machines, including Star Wars & Star Trek. Plus an air-hockey table. Admission is pay by th

Many of the machines dont funtion properly. Some games didnt keep score at all. Skee ball doesnt score properly ex. Making it in 50 only counts as 30 or sometimes even 20. Air hockey appeared to be the only game that functioned properly. Save your time and money do not go here.

This place brings back good games and good memories.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?
