Customer Reviews

This is a decent arcade with friendly staff, but I feel like it had slowly gone downhill. While the staff continues to remain courteous, it seems like a quarter of the games are either down or break while playing. I also think they used to have better games, but the "new" machines seem to be old, used machines. It is nice that they have a laser tag, bumper cars, games, and ticket/prize machines all in such a small space. The prizes are better than other arcades IMO.

Good family atmosphere. The facility was a little too warm and the temperature outside was only around 70 degrees. Several of the games weren't working but the kids still enjoyed themselves. There also weren't too many activities for the smaller kids (ages 2 -4) to do. The staff was courteous when cashing tickets out.

Just had a birthday party a couple days ago and will never recommend this place again. Although last year the experience was much different and much better I decided to have one again this year. I wish I never did. Upon arrival I was waiting to be allowed to go into the room( for reference I got there 20 minutes early as we discussed on the phone so I can set up). They clearly see I am carrying a cake and bags but no help until I said something. Once entering the room it was never cleaned. It was disgusting

It doesn't deserve even one star. The machine steals your points and then fights to give them to you. They want to steal your money. Go to Dave and Buster's, it's better and they don't steal your money.

Wonderful staff they even rode the bumper cars with my 9 yr old son when there weren't any kids to ride with him.

AMAZING!!! EXTREMELY pleasant staff! My son and I went on Labor Day weekend and was assisted by Zoey. She was SO attentive and answered every question with ease. We will be repeated customers! THEY HAVE BUMPER CARS!!!! SURGE DOESNT!!!!!!

I hardly ever leave reviews, but I brought my nephew here for his birthday and was so disappointed. There was a great selection of games, he was really excited for the VR games specifically. However, EVERYTHING we swiped was somehow broken or did not work. Three of the VR games, the second headset wasn't working, so only one side would be working, the shooting game only one gun would be working, the other had a short in it or something because it kept glitching, one of the claw machines we used would not g

Good sized place, located through the back side of the Patrick Henry Mall near the Food court. They a little concession stand in the back with some table and chairs set up. Also, there are a few rooms to hold birthday parties and such. They have a lot of ticket games and a central counter with all the ticket prizes. There are a few new VR games, plenty of claw games, and skill. They even have a small bumper car arena. Lots to play in here. They are loaded card type place, you hit a kiosk and add money

I love arcades and this one is great! I just wish some of the prizes were lower in ticket costs or that you didn't have to sit and wait as 5k-10k tickets got loaded onto your card. Oh well. ??

They definitely need bigger space for the bumper cars. It's kind of useless. Can't really move much and there was just two of them. Imagine if other bumper cars are occupied. What you see in the picture is basically the whole area to move around in. On the left that you can't see are just other bumpers cars. VERY limited space to move around in. It will just leave you frustrated. Imagine if other cars are occupied? Not all machines gives you points. There is no tickets to pull out, points automatically get

Great for kids, but all an all it's designed to take your money with little to no return. It's just a professional carnival.

My children love going here! It's fun, convenient and there are just enough variety of things to do!

Great place to take the kids for a cheap and fun evening. There are plenty of options for all ages. Staff can be hit or miss.

My son (4) loved this place. It was our first time going. And I lost my mind with the Luigis mansion arcade machine!! They are having a summer deal right now. Also they offer military discount. I recommend buying the attraction points for your card. We spent 40 and got 900 tickets. Their clown knock over game and the ninja button game gave us 30 tickets everytime. Also the easiest crane to use was the hamster one. The other timers were to short to actually win something. Also bumper carts are 12 points a pi

Good place. Wish everything worked. Expensive but my son has a great time so it's cool

Some of the big interactive games need to be calibrated, but for the most part, it was a very enjoyable experience with my son.

Not worth the sky high price! Average price of games is 8 to 11 points. Cost of points is $50 for 200. You're paying more than a $2-$3 per game and the majority of them do not work! I told one of the employees about 2 machines i paid to play that did not work, she basically didn't care, didn't even offer a refund. Never again.

Very nice arcade game spot. There's something for everybody! There's a bowling section that parents/ adults can enjoy with or without kids. It's pretty clean and they have hand sanitizing stations throughout the room which allows us to clean the seats and games before usage but also to disinfect our hands.

Experience was just ok. Definitely not what I'm used to as far as loading a game card. They need better options to play more games. Seemed like a rip off. But I did have fun and the staff was very nice.

Great place for a birthday girl!!

Nice place to have the kids out of the house and experience all different games. The price is quite high for the little time one game last. But I'm glad we still have some place for my daughter enjoy everytime I need to take her to the mall. She doesnt enjoy going shopping but she loves playing here and the little playground.

Nice arcade! Some of the machines were down. Also, bring your wallet/purse....

Ridiculously expensive! Half of the machines didn't work , or partially worked. Someone stole our squishmallow, the staff was consumed by the party and was unable to help the other patrons, as they were "party Crew only". 1 star because we had fun and it wasn't dirty

Advertises a jump facility, only to get there to find none. Advertisement needs to specify if the bounce capability, which we specifically went there for, is not available at a specific facility.

Nice arcade. Kinda expensive but pretty standard prices for arcades lately. Decent variety of games. I really like the shooting gallery.

Bowling, Games, lasertag, bumper cars, tickets & prizes. They also do Birthday parties. Its inside the Mall and fun for all no matter the weather!

Scam , the claw machines have been rigged to not be able to pick up prizes . Don't waste your time here

When you got little kids, this place is spot to take them. It ain't much but it gets the job done.

We love Tilt Newport News. The staff is great and are always helpful and friendly. We love the diversity of games available. We look forward to coming whenever we get the chance. Tilt has been a fun date night for us grown kids on several nights. Thanks to Christian, David, Spencer and Thomas just to name a few that have directly helped us during our trips here. Your great customer service is appreciated.

So I haven't been to an arcade in years! But this place is pretty dope for being in a mall and not a stand alone place. Definitely check out that vr coaster they have! Omg I couldn't believe it! Was soooo much fun!

Hot inside but fun for little kids to run around

Absolute great time.....in town with fam visiting Family. Nice and clean mall and a quick stop in for kids at the arcade. All in all a great day and way to spend a Sunday.

Our grandchild's birthday party was held here. Staff was wonderful, the price was reasonable and everyone had a great time. What more could you ask for.

The claw games bs. They really do cheat you out of your prizes

Staff members are nice, helpful and pleasant. Lots a different variety to chose from. Fun place

It's aight. Mostly prize and ticket games. If you are looking for an arcade for video games, you will be quickly disappointed. Card readers are used to play, expect to pay $2-3 on average per game credit due to the pricing system. Guests looked like they were winning prizes, and you can get strong armed by a parent to use your tickets on a toothbrush.

Our family has a blast! The place is clean! Appropriate for all ages!

I REALLY ENJOYED MYSELF AS AN ADULT MY GRANDSON HAD HIS BIRTHDAY PARTY THERE AND MY HUSBAND AND I HAD A BLAST THANKS FOR MAKING MY GRANDSON DAY ??????????

Great place to take the family. Warning it is addictive with many different styles if activities to do.

Way to expensive. No claw machine should be 3 dollars to play. The medium size ones can be up to 6 bucks a play! They apparently realize no one would pay that so they don't use tokens but play cards with credits on them. I'm sorry but for the cost of this place you might as well go anywhere else, since your kids won't get more then a couple of games. Lots of machines broke and quite warm. Edit to 1 star due to the ridiculous owner response.

Nice and clean. It's well maintained but it's a bit expensive. We spend $50. On my grandson for about an hour play time. Plus, they don't carry food or have enough seating for adults. Nice.but you can't go every weekend unless you have extra money to spare.

Fun spot to entertain the kids (3-5yo and older) for a bit. Most of the games are kinda gimmicky, you could have more fun at home with a Switch. I'd say it's overpriced, but I remember nickel arcades so don't take that to heart. I'll go back if I'm in the mall again

I loaded a play card with $20. Then went to their mini-bowling lanes to tey them out. Four of us played one game each. The mini-bowling machines are nice. They are built for kids so they are short, the pins are small and held by strings, and the balls are the size of a soft ball. The place is clean and they have a wide variety of games. Sounds nice right? We only got to play those games of bowling. Four games of mini-bowling for our family lasted about 10 minutes and cost us something like $17. The games d

Where as the laser tag was great... And my children had fun for my son's birthday, I feel like the party itself was a waste money. The cards for the 3 attractions didn't work out properly, the host was kinda in and out a few times I had to find her, and I got charged almost a whole $20 the day of the party after paying $306 a week before the party. This place was the pure example of what happens when you try to get bang for your buck.

This was a nice lil arcade. Don't leave your child unsupervised though cause they will waste all their points trying to get something from the claw machine in the 5 minutes you went potty. ??

Overall an amazing place to take you kids and gran kids but some of the machines are very old and unsanitary. In the back where the food concession is they have a bunch of clutter and it's not the cleanest. The employees are very polite and strict about rules and regulations without being rude.

Went here with my son and hubby. Very warm inside the ac was broken. Many games not on, maybe broken. I got overheated and had to leave. A very scaled down version of Apex. Come on do better. I wanted to like this place. Poor workers...

video game room with a bumper car area and food court nearby. need i day more? #8robinsonstv

My stay there was absolutely wonderful the attendance were very efficient and very friendly

Great place super clean great games and attractions amazing service, huge space. The deals are good with the exception of the fact that when you buy a family deal you can only do the arcade games but not the really cool stuff like bumber cars and the racing games and bowling. Everything should be included for one price so you pay one price and the kids can have fun and do whatever they want. Other than that its a great place we had a great time.

Fun! My son loves it here

Fun experience with games my husband and I enjoyed. The card purchase machine was down so we had to buy our game cards at the counter but thankfully they had a great deal for purchases made at the counter. I was satisfied with the prizes we were able to pick for kids with the tickets we won. Look forward to going again the next time we visit the area.

My family and I were visiting family members in Virginia. We stopped by the mall to kill some time before our family event. We went to Tilt Studios. The kids enjoyed it! Due to the weather the mall was closing early. The staff was very patient as we were one of the last people there. The kids still had to cash in their tickets, and for anyone that know how long it takes to pick out from the prize case, it takes patient! Kudos to the staff!

It's pricey, a lot of times there are weird smells, 70% of the time the good games are down or something crucial is wrong with them. There is a variety of fun games, the food is pretty decent and we enjoy the laser tag when we go. Go when you have the extra money to spend, otherwise you're better off buying a game somewhere else and playing at home.

It's like your miniature version of an average Dave and Buster's except that there are a few machines are preschool sized. They have bowling and laser tag (didn't get a chance to interact with two). They have a snack bar as well but didn't try any. They didn't have enough choice of games around but some Dave and Buster's didn't have. Will come back again.

Crazy ?? expensive ??????. With the birthday package, $40 in 20 minutes gone in ride's and grab machine. In comparison that's 2hr of play time at Chuck e cheese ??. The tilt studio server for the birthday party was amazing with the kids and the laser tag was a lot of fun. Happy to go again if... someone else pays.

Been here twice ,the line for play card is always long and takes forever. The workers are not very helpful.

Nice place my child had a wonderful time

We had a great time! Christian helped us out with all of our issues and David was super nice. It was all so clean and sanitary and all the games worked well. The stuffed animals made it worth the effort.

Took my grandson and little cousin and they had a blast. It even has bumper cars. I had fun watching them. You just have to keep a check on your token amount when swiping. Tokens can go fast. It's best to start with $20.

It's cool for a time burner. The place is a little run down, ticket machines are designed to take your money with little roi, obviously. At the end of the day, my kids had fun, but it will cost you.

I like the great mix of old and newer games. It is spacious enough to enjoy while allowing a variety of ages to have a good time. Keeping with the theme of most mall arcades, not everything works and some of the games are over priced but it's a small inconvenience compared to the benefits.

Great and fun place for both kids and adults. Didn't give it 5 stars because some games were confusing, and I wished there was a staff to direct us.

Expensive. I would much rather see the kids be able to earn more money on their card than getting tickets to buy a bunch of junk that you can get at the dollar tree. My kids just want to play.. they don't need this stuff. $20 can go very quickly.. I would say 30 minutes in and out.

Staff was friendly and kids had fun. Bought 3 cards each with $20 on them for a 3, 6, and 7 year old. Was enough to keep them occupied till they were tired. Some of the games make it hard to win tickets but they had fun. Parents played games too.

Fun place to go every now and then. I went for a birthday party for the first time and it was really neat. The party included bowling and cards for the games along with pizza and a round of laser tag. It wasn't crowded either. The game prices seemed comparable to Dave and Buster's

It was okay. The games cost a lot to play (average of about $2/game) and many of them had different issues. The staff weren't overly excited to come help when a game got stuck or didn't work properly. We had fun, but in the future i will be looking for other arcades in the area rather than feeling like I'm spending too much at a place where half the games have issues and no one seems to want to help. One upside is that the prizes dont cost a TON of tickets so you can get some decent prizes

Games are a bit dated but it's an ok spot. Didn't try any of the food or other services they offer. The prices are reasonable, we got a $20 card which gave us 80 points and got a bonus 20, so we got to play with 100 points total. Same as with any arcade, you have to have quite a few tickets for a quality prize but I wasn't interested in that aspect anyway. Would visit again, with or without my children.

This is a very cool place. I'm glad to see a more affordable arcade in town. The game selection isn't as good as Dave and Buster's or Chuck E. Cheese's, but it's pretty decent and the games are in pretty good working order. It's very easy to kill a few hours here and I'll definitely go back soon.

Reasonable prices. Good prizes. Great games. Would go here again.

Everything is pretty awesome but the shooting arcade doesn't work very well. It just needs a little maintenance to fix the guns. Many of the triggers don't fully return to their full out position, so they won't fire. Several didn't work at all necessitating an attendant call. However, everything else we played worked just fine and was lots of fun!

Had the feel of going to a bad casino. $40 gone in 15mins. Kids got to play 3 games before their cards were exhausted. The staff was kind, hence the 1 star. The machines, when they worked, were just a total rip off. Disappointing.

This was our first time visiting Tilt and we did not know the $15 unlimited 4hr cards were only for certain games, so we got a refund and bought point cards you can use for all games. $60 lasted less than 20 minutes. Both my kids were so heartbroken and even said they didnt want to come back.

Great concept. I grew up with arcades, and have had some nice visits here. Frequently, games will not be working properly or at all. They have a kiosk to reload game cards, but the credit card readers do not work; cash only. You can reload with your credit card at the counter if an associate is available.

Great arcade but service can be lack luster. Overall it is a great place to bring kids of all ages. My 3 year old loves playing the games and getting "tickets" for the prizes. Do wish they had real tickets even if it's not environmentally friendly. Small kids have a hard time grasping the idea that there are tickets on your card which you can get prizes for. Should you go anyway...yes absolutely. They have everything you need from food and games to laser tag and bumper cars. Awesome place

It was just ok. Pros: the bowling, virtual reality games (that did work), bumper cars and laser tag. And the staff that we encountered were very polite and helpful. Cons: Many of the games didn't work, there was hardly no staff, and there was no service at the snack area. (Luckily the food court was close by.) Also, We tried calling ahead to find out what end of the mall there were closest to and no one answered all 3 times. Hopefully they'll improve because the kids really want to go back.

I want to say thank you to Kevin Jordan for taking care of my family and I and making sure that our experience was better then the first time. I rated a 5 because their staff is very kid friendly wanting to please and interact. Laser tag was fun they have a upstairs and downstairs level. My kids enjoyed the bumper cars and yes some of the games are overpriced but I feel if you get the package deals you'll get your best bang for your buck. Thanks again to the staff had a great time

A little pricey but they maintain the games in good condition and occasionally add new ones. My son especially likes the prizes you can get from the collecting tickets(only on certain games). I particularly like the specials they have during the week and during some holidays.

A bit over priced. I'm use to Chuck e cheese where games cost 2 or 1 token. At tilt studio, games cost 12-34 points!!! Some boring shooting games cost 3 points. Everything is on reloadable game cards, you load points and the kids swipe the cards and the games take points. Be prepared to spend 60$ easily on games and pizza. The great part about this place is that they offer 10% military discount, they have my business now only because of the military discount. Pizza was great!!! And they have funnel c

All the games and areas were very clean. I am a stickler for clean bathrooms and they were also spotless. Food area was large and tables clean also. All employees had masks and were very helpful. Christian and Dawana were really helpful when the kids were picking out prizes. We did have one game error but David was quick to fix. They have a huge selection of prizes and some really good ones too. Prices are good and not too expensive. It's a fun night out and you can walk the mall also. They have a cotton ca

If you need something to do, have a few bucks to spend. Sure why not!! Put credits (money) on a card. Run card in various arcade device. Get tickets, dopamine rush!! Yay!! Had a 4 year old birthday party event. Pizza too hot, huge slices. Taste: its a pizza, nothing fancy. If I was hungry, I would eat. A few of the younger arcade were, "out of order". Overall: Faculty is very clean and well run. Effort is made to keep customers happy and safe. My 4 year old did enjoy the games. I would go back.

It's okay. Not into many of the shooter or action games.

I've been a loyal Tilt Studio customer as I've been VIP for quite some time now. Months ago, I decided I'd hold my son's 7th birthday party here. Paid for the deposit online back in August and set the party for Oct 1st from 3pm-5p. Party day comes! I paid $350 for the ultimate package. Which includes cupcakes and goodie bags. I paid and get everything set up in the room. We get started around 3:15 or so as I had to wait for the rest of the kids to get there. One of the employees, whose name I was unable to

It was fun, lots of things to do but some of their attractions was broken like the bumper cars and the shooting range the laser tag video where you can see the players was broken too. We did the birthday party and the kids could not do each attraction together because the car video racing game had other people on it then the bumper cars didn't work. It was ok but not worth the money we spent for 2 hours

I just wanted to give a shout out to an awesome employee named Phoebe who helped me over the phone. We got a toy that had button batteries and the dog ate it. We had no idea how many batteries it was supposed to have so she opened one for me over the phone and checked. We have them all! This was so kind of her and helped me immensely bc I was freaking out the dog or baby had eaten one.

Overpriced, few games function properly, claw game literally designed to never win. I get it, they are all rip offs but most won't make it impossible to get something out. Asked manager and was told "oh its working properly". So the claw will be over the price perfectly, then never close and just go down and back up. Makes sense. Joke of a business.

This place is so much fun. My husband has taken our kids there several times. Sometimes the games don't work right, but they reimburse you for any lost points with no problem. Great for adults and kids. And it's more than just arcade!

Tilt studio is a very nice place for the kids.. a very good alternate to Chuck e cheese. There's not any where to really sit and I usually have my 8 month old baby with me while my older children run around. But all in all it's nice and affordable for the children. I have never bought their pizza but I might try a birthday party there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are virtual reality games in arcades worth playing?

Yes, virtual reality (VR) games in arcades are a top attraction in 2025! Titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx deliver immersive thrills with cutting-edge headsets, motion tracking, and responsive controllers. High-resolution displays and spatial audio create heart-pounding experiences, from slashing rhythms to battling zombies. Arcades feature multiplayer VR zones and tournaments, fostering lively communities. VR booths are regularly packed, proving their captivating, next-level gameplay makes them a must-try arcade experience.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
