Really cool place. Good music can download app and que your own music. Arcade games are free.
Awesome new spot opened up on Beach Blvd, "Throwbacks" Spacious, great atmosphere, nice wall paints, makes the visit enjoyable to the eyes. Vintage video games, pinball, toys, Arcades, great selection of old old games.. and comfort food.
My most favorite bar to go to great management and they have one of the best bartenders ever mis amanda every time we come in she now k own our drinks she has them ready for us and always has a smile on her face and the loaded tator tots are amazing my favorite
A lot of fun, great drinks! Kids can play games until 9pm! Awesome place to Hang out
Place is cool and a fun to be at but this man was not even trying to make drinks this night, he kept saying he don't have this or that they don't make it here when I've had my drink here multiple times AT THIS LOCATION. I'm not sure if he was drunk or on something but he was not here.
Nice place during the week just don't expect fast service on weekends it gets packed. Still worth going to for some drinks and the pizza is good!
This is a cool place to hang out with friends or have a date night out. The retro arcade games and the touch screen table-top gaming system with a ton of different games loaded. The bar can get busy and maybe will be waiting a few moments for drinks. A few of the games weren't working properly, skee-ball in the back of the bar, and a nostalgic vibe makes this a must stop if in Sanford. Did not eat any food while there, had a couple of jello shots, and some were filled more than others.
Had a fun night here with my sweetheart. We got there just before it started to get super busy. Great atmosphere, and the pizza was super delicious. Highly recommended trying that. Would have stayed longer, but once they started getting really busy, it got very loud, and some were getting a little to carried away. Will go back again. We just know that once it starts getting full, we'll be heading out. Overall, we had a good time.
Freaken top 3 pizzas of my life, staff is awesome, owner is awesome, great laid back bar!! Love it
This is a dive bar with games. Ordered a beer, which was moderately priced so cannot speak to their cocktails/mixed drinks. Went late on a Saturday night and there were plenty of available games to play which is exactly what we were looking for. Played some Connect 4, Jenga, and Pac-Man. Looks like Skee ball was the only one you have to pay for ($0.50). Haven't tried this pizza people rave about, but will need to try it next time!
Stopped in with my kids to grab a beer and kill some time. We had fun and the brews/service were on point. We had a ton of skate gear with us and it wasn't an issue to take in and stow.
This is a shot glass. Not really worth the money, very small amount, I have never been given a shot that size before.. I will not be coming back. Everybody at the bar was complaining about the male bartender being non-attentive and unfriendly.
A dive bar in downtown Sanford. Free retro video games. And their pizza is actually quite tasty. Prices are reasonable and services always very good.
Fun dive bar. Typical bar food (pizza looks good, they were out when I was there.) Friendly staff. That's
Kind of smells Bar tender was very busy ignoring me. I love the food but no one should be treated like a hassle. She couldn't even complete my transaction without walking off bad body language mostly uninviting/ Rude. Pizza is good though. Per reach out request Time of experience was roughly 7:30pm 9/2/23. Thanks management for the follow-up.
First time we came was a terrible experience. Bar tender didn't have a clue how to make any if the cocktails, ac was out, they only had chicken and cheese pizzas. It wasn't their fault though as a hurricane caused most if the issues including with the supply truck. We gave them another chance. The bar tender was knowledgeable on the flavors we would like and even accommodated myself just getting mocktails. The pizza was good. Hubby just thought it was too loud, but it's a bar on a weekend.
Good for drinks, staff is friendly, interesting vibe. Expected more of an arcade feel, the one up machines are fun to play. Back porch is not bad for outside lounging. Would definitely go back again. Draws a good crowd of friendly people.
Awesome because they play Orlando City games and have the most affordable drinks in downtown Sanford. They could afford to maintain the place a little better though.
Drinks were great and there was always something to do! We had a great time!
Was quite smelly inside. Not sure if it was mold of pee or what. The pizza was maybe the greasiest thing I've ever eaten. Tables sticky and menus falling apart. The arcade game selection is nice and they have a full Mario Kart setup. I left feeling kind of gross though.
Great appetizers and drink selection. All the games and karaoke is so much fun. Chrissy is the quickest and friendliest bartender, in reality her smile is what keeps me coming back!
Great priced drinks and loads of fun. Friendly staff. Wish they'd more clearly advertise drink prices though. Also, unfortunately not everyone has been nice to their arcade games and some of them are not operating properly. Would be nice to see them fixed! 30,000 points in skeeball gets you a free beer!
We were in visiting Jax and wanted something fun to do with kids at night. A old school vibe and fun games! Lady working was very kind
Surprisingly very family friendly ?? haven't really seen another bar quite like it and im from Wisconsin ?? Brought my 17 yr old brother and parents....we all enjoyed the 80's and 90's music, LOADS of free board, table and other games....as well as a good massive variety of drinks....the only downer is they don't serve Food on Sundays :/ so we missed out....but will be back again while we are in town! Lady who ran the place was also real nice and friendly
Very nice place, bar. Outside patio is very cool, working in getting a outside bar set up. Nice area to relax chat with friends. Very cool that it's got an mini arcade on the loft. Cool idea also couple skeeball machines. Thought I was at a adult carnival, and the house special brew beer ?? was very tasty. Been telling family and friends about the place, few of us looking forward to one of the night they have karaoke,, trivia, etc. So cute the owners dog Murphy is there hopping around on three legs, played
The pizzas are amazing. I can't say enough about Amanda the bartended. What a sweetheart.
Not called throwbacks anymore. Doesn't offer kareoke, half the games are broken and not turned on. This place is a hole
It was our first time here and we loved it. Super friendly staff and clientele. Free arcade games, family AND dog friendly. The food was great. This seems like a great place to just drop in or hang for a while.
Nice friendly neighborhood bar. Owner is super nice & the environment is fun.
I came here last night for my birthday and honestly had the worst experience ever. The two blonde bartenders were so rude and unwelcoming to me it makes me not want to ever go back. The older one with the blonde hair honestly has the worst attitude out of the both of them, ask if they did any discounts or anything for birthdays she said no and i was like okay, thats fine. Left and came back to them talking badly about me. Then tried to go to the bathroom and was told I couldn't because the bathroom wasn't i
The food was amazing and a huge shoutout to our server Alex for being fun and tolerant. Stephanie was also great. I dog the blue lipstick. I highly recommend the Mac and cheese bites. Wow!!! I'll be back!!! Overall two thumbs up. Outdoor heaters are a huge plus!!!!! Thx
Great place! You'll love the atmosphere, food and drinks. I went with my wife for the Champions league final last month and had a great time. It felt like a big party at a friends house. It was great meeting the owners and their dog at bar! Again, you'll love the atmosphere! Going tonight for the USA vs Mexico game.
We were picking up my son from the airport and decided to take a ride downtown Sanford and found this great place. Even though it was under construction, they were able to whip up some tasty treats for us. The pizza is yummy. We hope to get back again and again.
Great drinks, retro video games, darts, and fun vending machines?? I love it. I got a bag of ***** for only $10!
OK, everyone is raving about the free games, good food & drinks, the awesome atmosphere, great music. I think everyone is overlooking the fact that it is DOG FRIENDLY and is THE ONLY bar in downtown Sanford to have the most chill 3 legged Irish dog named Murphy!!!! This bar is tops!!!! Super friendly staff as well! Highly recommended!
Great place in Sanford with tasty pizza, fun atmosphere, and cold fresh drinks served by a friendly staff! Despite a hectic crowd all the bartenders were on top of things and earned a healthy tip from us just wandering in. Can't wait to go back!
Throwbacks is a fun place with all kinds of games from the last several decades. The beer selection is solid and they have plenty of liquor and wine for other tastes. I didn't try it but the food coming out smelled great. I'll be making plans to visit again.
Add this to your Sanford Ave pub crawl. The drinks are fun and the atmosphere is on point. Downtown Sanford is eclectic and reach place is a different vibe. Stop in here to play a free arcade games and enjoy great libations.
I moved to Sanford several months ago and have been into this bar twice. The first time was a great experience. Even with a packed bar on Friday night, the bartenders (Jen and Santana) were incredible, attentive and made an amazing black cherry mojito. Went in this past weekend and my experience was the complete opposite. The heavy set older bartender was more concerned socializing and standing there doing nothing rather than serve me. She did however serve a group of underage kids in front of me and never
The Pizza Is The Thing. The best I have ever tried. Not greasy at all. Good portion and great price. They have an arcade side, and all the games are free.
Rob (owner) he is an amazing lovable person. Very pleasant person to speak to makes us feel comfortable all the time we go. The bartender Mark is a funny and always happy man. No matter what you maybe going through he will make you laugh while you are there. I highly recommend this place to everyone I know. Their menu is amazing as well mostly recommended would be their pizza, sweet corn nuggets, sweet rajili wings, loaded tater tots, and also the quesadilla. It's a wonderful place to have a couple of drink
Our first time in we meet the best bartender that amazed us! He was fast and very friendly! Best bar ever! We highly recommend this bar and most of all Nick! Thanks Nick for the great drinks and fun night!
I get that every bar needs to make money... But the drinks here are always weaker than the other bars and the shots are the little premeasured glasses that hold next to nothing... But still cost about $6-$8. If you come on a busy night expect to fight your way into a position to get service from one of only two bartenders. This place does draw in a crowd though. And the video games that actually function are kinda cool for nostalgia reasons. (They've needed to fix the Simpsons for a hot minute now)
Now known as Murphy's Arcade I was so disappointed. I expected something totally different for a bar rescue. First seen on FB that they "bar rescued" but can't be by John taffer because this place sucks only thing good is the free arcade games the bar counter was sticky. They are still using the old menu in which they had nothing in stock from the old menu. The pizza roll for $13 dollars is a joke and barely shareable for two people. It came out warm from a 500 degree oven and had to be taken back. The barte
Great spot! Vintage games, and a ton of stuff to play with. The girls, behind the bar deal with A LOT, from drunk patrons, to rude obnoxious people, they deserve to be tipped out accordingly. The male bar back...does a 1000 % great job too! The stuff they have to endure, at a place like this...????.
Went in on New Years Eve to grab some food and play some games after seeing the reviews online. Sat down and was never even once approached about being helped. The bartender that was working there acted like she could careless we were there. About 10 minutes later another lady came in with food and all the employees started eating themselves and we were never helped. We even went to the extent to ask them if they were serving food and still no interest in helping us. We ended up walking out without ever bei
This was a really cute little spot to get a quick bite to eat. My bf and I were visiting his cousin for Halloween weekend and we stopped in here for dinner between 6-7 pm. This placed was converted from an Old train station and gives a "Chelsea Market" type vibe in regards to having a few different food options available (e.g. desserts, sandwich es, pizza, burgers etc.). There's seating on both ends of the "station." I unfortunately forgot the name of the placed we ordered from specially and it didn't say o
Friendly place. Unique for all of the old video games- and new ones too. Great place to go if you want to do more than just sit there and drink. Haven't tried the food, but they have a good selection of comfort food favorites.
I just had some drinks but the bartenders were fast and friendly. Great place to meet up and hang out.
The bar is actually a nice vibe! My only gripe is that the arcade cabinets are constantly broken or badly defective.
Throwbacks is an amazing establishment. That has some of the best food for any bar in town. Mark is the most caring and loving person you will ever meet. He takes his time with every person. Gives them the best service he possibly can. Mark will never let you down. David the main guy there makes sure that everyone is taken care of. So go to throwbacks and get a beer.
The bar itself is decent, but there's a couple of issues that made the place uninviting, but each issue could easily be addressed and gives the whole location a lot of potential. Pros: Centrally located in Sanford's bar district Fast service Excellent prices on food Food portions are large Plenty of tabletop games to play Outdoor seating in back for smokers Cons: First, the foot rest bar was loose from improper installation which made sitting at the bar for some offputting. Second, the 2x4 jumbo jenga ga
Great place, cool atmosphere for cool individuals! Who would've thunk in Sanford??? ???? from me?? it's a MUST DO for sure...
Great place to just hangout, make new friends, play games and enjoy the drinks. What a friendly and welcoming staff here on any day or night of the week!
I stopped in this place to have a drink with a friend. She said she had been there before. I was in shock when I received my tab. They charge $8 for a thimble Jameson that they call a shot! Add my friend's single tall Captain and coke, the end result is almost $19!! Ridiculously over priced bar!!!
ordered the chicken tenders. paid 8 dollars for three small tenders to go. they were pink on the inside and slimy. not cooked all the way through. very dangerous. tried to call a couple times immediately upon arriving home to try to warn them that something was clearly wrong with however they are cooking them. but got no answer
One of the best bars I've ever been to. Marc is an icon and Davis and Robby are awesome tenders. Visit and start a convo with the staff. You won't regret it.
We had such a fun time with Santana!!!! We had the most fun here every time we have been downtown Sanford! We always stop by and Santana has been the most fun and personal bartender we have had! We will be back to see her again!!!
Amazing staff, amazing drinks, amazing food (especially their pizza). The owner of this establishment is one of the coolest, friendliest and just downright enjoyable people you'll ever meet
A good neighborhood bar, typically good bar food, and good drinks fair pricing, attentive staff. Can get loud sometimes from everybody having a great time ... it's your typical active neighborhood place ...
Fun place with great beer selection and old school games.
Super fun, low-key atmosphere. Fun games to play, fun bartender, and a fun time to be had. It's a great local place to chill and I will definitely be going again
Overpriced drink with 0 alcohol and on top of that bartender was a real piece of work. Don't remember his name but I left after 5 minutes because of the bad treatment and drink. Giving something different from what's advertised is the very definition of fraud. I'm going to blame it in the bartender and not the place so will come back one more time with another bartender.
Just the kind of bar I was hoping for. Cold beer on tap. Not too crowded. Classic video games and Skee ball! Had a great time with friends.
Such a great place to stop and have a drink. And the only true supporters of our Orlando City Lions in downtown Sanford!!!
Top of the line, great food, fun atmosphere, only problem is time goes twice as fast being there. Just something to prepare for. 10/10 recommend.
Fast friendly service to show how far sanford has come over the years. Great staff and atmosphere. Been staying in sanford for 5 years now and is always on my bar hopping adventures with friends following.
Great place to visit. The bartender was really friendly and they have video games that are free. Can't wait to go back
Went on a Thursday night, karaoke night, it was packed, but the drinks were good, reasonably priced, service was excellent, met some great paoe, and the singing was pretty good, had a great time!
We loved it. All the retro games including Skeeball, PACman, asteroids, centipede, connect four, Jenga and board games too. Bartender was attentive and friendly.
My favorite bar in Sanford!!!! It's the bartender that makes this place. Go see Mark and have a great time! Occasionally they have live punk bands and there is a pool table.
Charges 12% sales tax. When questioned about it the first bartender said "oh thats tax and a credit card fee" when asked about paying with cash "oh, its the same amount"
Love this place, especially with the FREE arcade games!! Perfect place to get a drink food and play games.
Good late night pizza selection. Bartenders were kind and on point. Karaoke night was fun and humbly.
Kewl place. Foods good to. No charge to play the arcade games but they're kinda gross and the buttons are sticky.
This place was disgusting. There way throw up on the bar beer cans and trash everywhere. I stayed for one drink and left because it was so gross.
The food is much better than expected, have had three items and they have all been amazing. Staff is very welcoming and atmosphere is very relaxed and fun.
Would of been a 5 but the waitress ignored me for 25min and kept skipping me. Environment is smooth though just workers ain't that friendly.
Great staff! Lots of games to choose from. Good food. Outdoor patio for smokers. What more could you all for?
Christine was amazing! Thank you
Great bar. Totally loved all the 80s and 90s stuff. Bartenders rock and food was great. Queso was awesome.
It was like stepping back into my youth at the local arcade only with alcohol! So much fun, loved the games and they were free to play.
If you want overpriced juice then come here. Rude bartender and nonexistent drink. Would be good if there was any alcohol in the drink (sex on the beach SUPPOSEDLY)
Love this place! Bring the kids because there are a ton of FREE games for them to enjoy while you have a beer
Amazing place to relax or play some games. Pizza is AMAZING. I often find myself here solely to eat their pizza.
Fun place. We love skeeball and the drinks are good to. It's like going back to the 70s with lots of games to entertain you
Great atmosphere, amazing owners and some games I haven't seen in years.....will be going more and more. Highly recommend!!!
One of my favorite spots downtown! Good service, love the loaded tots. Free games and fun!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
