You guys always make for a fun family time and the food is delicious! The arcade is huge and the new bowling lanes are awesome. With pool tables, corn hole, an arcade, food & drinks, etc. this place has something to do for everyone & we always enjoy coming. Thank you for providing a fun safe place for my family to enjoy!
Our first time there and it was so disappointing. We went to see Motor Booty Affair (they were great) but the venue was TERRIBLE. We paid $15 each extra for ?box seats? which was 4 stools on a crowded wall!! Under a ceiling that looked like it was going to fall in on us (see photo). The dance floor is way too small and there is an unmarked drop off at the edge of the dance floor? my friend fell off it as soon as we got out there because someone bumped into us?and she landed face first on a 2? high post? br
The Sports Arena in Bangor, Maine has much to offer for a fun-filled afternoon or evening out. Whether you're into arcades, pool, bowling, or just want to relax with a drink watching sports and enjoy some bar food, the Sports Arena has got you covered. The large playground area is nice, available for both kids and adults. It's great to see a venue that caters to all ages, making it a perfect spot for family outings or hanging out with friends. Another plus is the mini-golf outside, which adds an extra lay
New ownership is doing the right things to revive this one time staple of Bangor area night life. The food is much improved already and their plans to improve the venue are exciting. Great place for birthday parties, fund raising events and company outings.
Awesome place to hang with family and friends!! Pool, Arcade , bowling and Cornhole!! great drinks and food for the kiddos! Growing up in Hermon most of my life, I am thrilled seeing the new owners putting a lot of work into this Place! Thank you!
Had lot of fun with the family! Lots to do there! Arcade games, prize winning games, air hockey, old school table hockey, VR games just lots of different games to list them all! Plus Bowling Lanes and Pool Tables lots of them! I ate before I arrived so I, can't tell you about the food!
Under new management. They have changed a ton of things here. From eliminating a few lanes to expand the arcade, added live music, cornhole, kept the pool tables and are making a bunch more changes! The food is still great! Bartenders are friendly and the staff is as well!
Best pizza place in the greater Bangor area! 8 pool tables, arcade, bar. My second home.
Great place to have kids' parties. Best arcade around (still small). The food was good. The pool tables looked nice. Cornhole was active the whole time I was there.
It's definitely a fun place to visit. However, the atmosphere suffers with the condition of the buildings interior being borderline dilapidated. The arcade is pricy, but to be expected. The bowling pins are on strings, which can negatively affect your performance, and the balls are scarred beyond belief, so bring your own. The pool tables are decent, but they've certainly seen lots of use. The pool cues they have available are warped, so bring your own. Overall, super fun experience if you just want to have
I attended the Motor Booty Affair concert. This was a well run venue, staff was friendly & efficient.
We had a great time bowling. Lane 20 kept glitching and freezing so we were switched to lane 19. Pizza was perfect but the boneless wings were way over cooked. Arcade was fun for my kids. Plenty of prizes to choose from.
Whoever decided to have very loud live bands play on Friday nights knows how to lose customers. Also, the bowling lanes with the couches forces you to share with strangers unless you have 2 lanes. Used to love hanging out here, but not coming back.
Great place to bring the family for some games, and fun. Large ball bowling, a large arcade, bar and even a small pizza place attached to the venue. They are a large facility, so it's also a great place to hold company parties and functions.
Really fun place to go for family, couple, friend's for all. Fun arcade games, bowling, pool tables, food and bar. Everything in one place. You should visit if in Bangor Maine recommend
Amazing business! Had a blast hosting the afterparty here! Highly recommend if interested in renting out a place for events or simply stopping by for a drink or bowling game!
Great place for parents to unwind, have fun and kids can have a great time. Something for everyone! The live music was a lot of fun.
I had such a great time with my friend and her grandson. There's a lot of games. The staff are friendly. We will definitely go again.
Hosted my daughter's birthday here, did one of the gamer packages with pizza. /soda. The pizza was great, they provided plates/ice cream scooper/cake cutter/utensils. Very nice staff! The one down fall was several of the games were offline/unplugged, however I would absolutely have another birthday there.
It's not bad, fun and fairly cheap. Entertainment there is decent most of the time.
The new owner knows what they're doing. The place is cleaner, nicer, and better in every way. They have THE BEST fried pickles I've ever tasted. 10/10
We came for bowling and arcade and it was great. The guy who helped us with bowling was nice and very patient with the kids as they decided what prizes to get. As with most bowling alleys our hand were black after using the balls. The only thing that was disappointing was that the air hockey table wasn't working after we paid for it twice. Otherwise we had a great time.
When we heard the sports arena got new owners, we were thrilled. We were extremely hopeful. The arcade is trash. The prizes are too. 800 tickets on a small ice cream light. 150 for a little donut keychain. I can't comment on the bowling because we didn't go over there, but honestly, we spent maybe a half hour there, and I don't forsee us coming back.
I recently showed up with a young man that does some work for me. The staff where excellent where we needed some assistance. My guest lost his game card, ( he is 10 year old ) and they gave him a new one, and later found old one ... Great experience. They also let us bowl beyond what we had paid for because it was early, and not yet busy.. Thankyou Folks , see you again.
Fun, bubbly atmosphere. Casual. Bowling, arcade games, food, pizza and bar. What more could ya ask for?
Beer is pricy but food is great and the atmosphere is also great
Stepping into this sports arena is like entering a vibrant playground for adults, where the energy is contagious, and the variety of entertainment options is unparalleled. At its heart, the bowling alley offers a top-notch experience with its well-maintained lanes, modern equipment, and lively atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both casual players and serious bowlers. Adjacent to the bowling area is the pool hall, a separate enclave designed with the pool aficionado in mind. The hall houses multiple h
My kids had a blast bowling with us! I like that it wasn't super crowded and that they have the lights dimmed. Pretty good pizza too!
Great band, great atmosphere, the drinks were a bit pricey but overall it was nice..
Pretty good place to take young kids. There is an arcade, pool, cornhole and some dart boards. There's food on site but it's a little bit on the pricey side. They do offer free refills on the fountain drinks you're still looking it over $4 for a paper cup for a soft drink. Kind of pricey but the free refills help. It's not the cleanest place, but it makes you feel less concerned when your kids spill their soda or drop their food on the floor. Just wash your hands and you'll be fine :-)
They have done a great job remodeling and the lanes are amazing now.
Bigger girl behind the bowling counter with like idk short brownish orange hair (evening of 4/13), extremely unpleasant. She's very rude for literally no reason. Maybe have friendlier staff at the counters that tend to the customers, would make it a more enjoyable experience given the atmosphere. When someone walks into a business such as this expecting to spend as much money as we do, would be nice to have friendlier interactions when getting serviced. Would be 5 stars otherwise.
Staff were incredibly friendly and we had a great time bowling. Game selection is not too large but not as small as I expected!
The grandchildren loved the gaming area and bowling. Let's not forget the rewards for playing the games.
Fun for the whole family and great atmosphere with a live band
Didn't eat anything so can't comment on that. I will say that I went here with my boyfriend, 4 Nieces, Nephew In law, Sister and brother in law for my 17 year old niece Birthday game time. We had a Blast. I'm 46 years old and my boyfriend will be 70 in January and we played some game together and had a Blast. First time we had been there together and actually first time ever doing anything like that together. He loved it.
Have done alot changes. Looks good but the bowling lanes all need help. Some lanes have cracks, the score monitor was messing up the scores. Game itself stopped working so they were there working on it while we waited. Got our money back on game and played pool.
Fun place to hangout as a family or go with my wife. Alot of fun. Just wish the arcade games were not so gosh darn expensive 3-5 bucks for a 5 minute game is crazy. Personally I preferred the mall arcade but this was always a top place for us before and after that came and went. Plus it's got bowling, table pool, and food really a one stop place for a good time. Fun games and fun times and it's really well spaced out.
We went to bowl, but unfortunately they are doing some upgrades and only half the lanes were open, so there was a wait. We played arcade games instead and had lots of fun, they have a large variety! I ordered mozzarella sticks, they were delicious and the service was excellent. We will definitely go back:)
This place is a blast. So many arcade games to play, at a reasonable cost. There's also bowling, food, drinks, pool, and more. Kiddos can win tickets from the arcade (loaded onto an E card / some games dispense actual tickets) then turn in tickets for prizes when they're done playing. It's a really laid back place to bring the family and order some food & play games. We will definitely be back. :)
New owners starting at the beginning of the year and you can see they are doing amazing work to revamp the place. Brand new bowling lanes, improved menu and prices, concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, and much much more. Definitely worth stopping in and seeing what's going on!!
Plenty of activities. Plus I had good company.
Nice set up. Plenty of entertainment for everyone. Bowling is charged by the hour. When your hour is done the lane shuts off.. don't think about ordering food/ drinks.. if priority is to bowl.. the system is designed on a timer. I get the idea.. but ownership is missing out on incremental sales because of the timer.. when our hour was up.. we left?balls were in poor condition, scoring was incorrect?
It was a nice place it had a lot of things you could do there. We were there bowling with family. They had pool tables and arcade games the staff was very nice and the drinks were very good and it was not that expensive. We did not have any food there.
Kasey is the best around !!!! He is so good to the customers and makes me feel so welcomed. I wish they stayed open till 1am because honestly this is the new spot and a girl likes to party !!!
Great place, however, it took 4 HOURS for them to call us for an open lane. We were there for a birthday party with 2 wheelchair bound kids who could only really bowl with the AMAZING ramps they have. Would have been a 5 star if we hadn't had to literally camp out by the desk in the bowling alley area as a reminder that we were there for a party. We got the call almost an hour after we had already been put on a lane to tell us a lane was open for us.
Could be a fun place for kids, but if you're serious about bowling, I'd look elsewhere. There's only half the lanes shown in their pictures (because they're expanding the arcade area), you can't use your own ball due to poor maintenance of equipment, and they charge per half hour instead of per game. $20 for two people to bowl for half an hour with only one shoe rental is a bit steep.
Was there for a craft fair. Our location was great.
My family and I were very disappointed. This place is in such bad shape. Our TV screen at our bowling lane would only stay on for a few seconds before going black, and it would flicker on and off every couple minutes. The pricing of bowling is based on time, not by game, and it's VERY expensive compared to other bowling alleys. We paid $28 for 30 minutes (including shoe rental). The bowling balls are in extremely rough condition with dozens of divots on every single one. The condition of the lanes is horrib
If you love bowling, arcade games, mini golf, pool tables, and excellent food this is the place to go. Has something for every age category. ME and my wife don't have kids. Some places you just don't feel comfortable going to because of that. But this place was just simply... awesome. With friendly and knowledgeable staff that welcome questions and comments I simply can't wait to go back!!
This review is strictly about the bowling. I would not recommend anyone to take part in bowling here. The lanes and balls are terribly beat up, used, and not taken care of well. The worst part was how dirty the balls were! My fingers were black after bowling two games and it took forever to scrub them clean. One positive, the staff was friendly.
Bowling was expensive and lanes were paid for by the 1/2 hour... Which I've never heard of. Lanes were in poor shape as well. Food was extremely expensive, $15 for 10 boneless wings, which were closer to chicken nugget sized. Place wasn't that clean and overall was in rough shape. We might come back for the mini golf in the summer but overall we weren't impressed.
Poor customer service on the bowling end. Showed up with 2 others and said we wanted to bowl for 30 minutes. The game shut off before Frame 5, and they said we only paid for 30 minutes in total... proceeded to tell me we only paid for 10 minutes each. Seriously, who drives to bowl 10 minutes with a group of friends. If you want bowling, go somewhere else. The arcade is thrilling and fun, though.
Had a lot of fun playing pool.
Lots of fun to be had for all ages!
Went to play some pool for a few hours. They do a good job keeping it clean in there! Sae a guy walking around cleaning the tables off an picking up after people whole time we were there. For $12 an hour for pool it's not a bad deal! An if you hit it early enough it doesn't start getting busy till like 8
Brought our kids here this past weekend for the first time in a couple years and we were all shocked at a lot of things. One we played only one string as they charged an hour which have of the time was spent on lane shutting down, power flickering in our lane, and scores not recording correctly. Second the quality of the lanes were by far the worse experience I've ever they had no oil, boards were lifted in lanes, some boards were warped making a bump in the lane, gutter was lifted so if ball touched it it
I had bought a birthday party package this past January for my son. The package included 2 bowling lanes for an hour each, so the kids took one and my brother and I took the other. About 20 minutes into playing a group with very small children had a lane next to the kids and one of little ones decided to play around with the score board and messed up the kids game. I tried to find a worker to help us out with the score board, but everyone was super busy. Shortly after our score wasn't calculating right and
Vintage arcade games, bowling, and decent pool tables, great staff.
We had fun bowling. The ordering of the food was not the best experience. Trying to enjoy time with our family and friends and waiting for a buzzing device to light up to go pick up our order was not the greatest experience. I personally enjoy giving. Although I payed for my food before I received it and they ask for a top on the receipt.... A tip... For horrible service including there set up of having to chance down your own food while your trying to enjoy time with friends and family.... Like I said, I e
Needs an update terribly. Dirty, dust everywhere. Everything is overpriced, especially the arcade games, several of which are broken. There are no itemized receipts at the bar. They can charge whatever they want, depending on the day. There is no jukebox in the billards area anymore, you have to listen to the clown music from the arcade. Half the bowling balls are cracked or chipped. The staff aren't happy to be there and it shows. The list goes on...
Place is a little tired. It's been around a long time. I remember 30 years ago, I was on a league here and it was super fun. Seems the lanes breakdown quite a bit. We had to switch lanes halfway through our time this time. But all in all, if you're looking for big ball bowling it is still fun for everyone.
Very pricey and showing wear. Great place to take the family to kill some time but plan on spending some money if your gonna play arcade games. The pool is reasonable and the bowling is well done and reasonably priced but stay clear of the arcade area if you have kids 20 min will cost you a ton if not played right. Staff is beyond friendly and helpful.
Great place to have fun and partys. has bowling. a gaming arcade area, as well as a bar area with pool tables and music. Great food, great drinks, great workers. They have prizes for the games with the points you get from playing them. Very fun.
We had a decent time bowling, and the kids enjoyed the arcade. The lanes could use upgrades. We had to switch lanes 3 times due to mechanical problems.
Went here instead of family fun lanes up the street as we thought this location would be better for little kids. Half the lanes didn't work at all, the bumpers are only available on a couple of lanes and stay up permanently (rather than operating based on the individual bowlers needs). The lanes that were operating along with all the balls are in HORRIBLE shape. My son bowled a gutter ball and it actually stopped and rolled backwards and picked up speed before getting stuck halfway down the lane. This pl
Bowling is expensive: $19/half hour ($38/hr). I like to take my time so I can work on form and technique without feeling rushed. At Family Fun Lanes, they charge $4/game; I bowl about 3 games (which roughly takes 90 minutes) and only pay $12. Family Fun Lanes also only charges $40 for THREE hours, so if you're looking to bowl I recommend FFL for a competitive price.
This place is absolutely amazing! Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! It's truly spectacular what the new owners have done in such a short time. Highly recommend
Sad to see the bowling lanes reduced to but the new owners did a great job relocating the arcade games. The nightclub vibe was great - this is a fun place to see live music!
Amazing staff very helpful and friendly. Tons of fun for the whole family. Great place for Birthday parties with decent competitive prices. More to do then most places around that offer birthday packages.
My friends and I stopped in to bowl pretty late at night, which is pretty nice that it's open that late. We had quite a few issues with the lane, to the point where we had to switch over to another lane, but the employee was understanding and gave us more time and swapped our game over. Overall pretty impressed
Cover charge was way too much for talent. Feel bad as it was a family establishment, but now a night club that ain?t busy
Ah, one of the old haunts I forgot to visit on the way out down to Florida. Never had an issue here with any of the staff, and the food and beer have always been agreeable. The pizza is among the best in the area. I've bowled, I've drank, played the arcade...really an interesting place if you want a cheap, reasonable and cool place to chill!
Terrible experience. Lanes are crowded. Lanes are overpriced and charge per half hour. Just for an hour, it's $38. Not including shoe rental. Lanes have NO oil at all. Most of the people that go in are teens who have no respect for anyone else but themselves. That's mainly pointed at the last group that shared the ball return with us. Our family has all agreed that we're not coming back at all. Foods cheap and somewhat decent. But that's about it.
Kasey is one of the greatest bartender I have come across in Bangor, Maine. The only downfall is that the sports arena is they are only open till 12, open till 1 and you got it all.
We had asked for 2 lanes together since there was 8 of us. However, we were told it was unavailable due to a party coming in. We bowled for 2 hrs and the lanes on both sides of us were empty the entire time. Very frustrating since they charge by time. It took almost that long just to get thru 1 game with 8 of us on one lane. With 2 lanes we could have probably got thru 2 games.
Enjoyed a couple hours here this afternoon. Atmosphere was family oriented. Pizza was good. They have quite a few arcade games there. Lots of them are over 2.00 to play, but was still fun watching the kids have fun.
The staff are very nice and accommodating. The food is mostly good. Plenty of pool tables to play on along with tables to sit at. Nice arcade and bowling alley
Cool spot tucked outside of town. Tons of pool tables, HUGE arcade, plus the late night bowling is killer. food is pricey and meh but the bar has great drink specials and a decent drink selection. Overall a fun spot with plenty to do!
The Hermon Apple is decent. The wings are ok. The sauce is good but the size is lacking. Take some lessons from Big Ricks in Madawaska and then the marriage would be on point. The atmosphere is ok. Not really suitable for singles though. I haven't found a place that is unfortunately.
I came with my kids this week when they came to bowl because everyone was hungry. Cheesesticks and boneless wings are delicious! My teenagers come here often to bowl, the staff are great with them, setting is good for younger teens as well drinking age.
Cheap but quality drinks during happy hour. Pool and bowling, especially, are way overpriced. I was with a group of 8 tonight and we were told that it would be $8.50 per person, per string/game. We opted for pool. Flat rate by the hour. If I simply felt like I wanted to play pool, I'd go back. But either pregame or go during happy hour. Those small pitchers jump from $9.25 to $14.50 and they're only the equivalent of 3 beers
This place has really gone down hill. We hadn't been there in almost 2 years because of Covid. So we decided to take our kids and meet up with with family. The bowling lanes shut down 3 times, the pins kept getting stuck, and this was all in our first game. Many of the arcade games didn't work, but stole our money, we had to keep going back to the bowling alley to be refunded. The ceilings have water damage, the bar tender said it keeps spreading and they've made calls but no one has been able to fix it.
Overly expensive and broken. They have a good variety of games but all of them are severely overpriced and half of them are broken. The last time I was in 3 or 4 of the games were marked as out-of-order, which is fine, but half of the other games didn't work either - but they still took our money: 2 of the basketball games didn't work correctly, 1 or 2 of the ice-ball machines didn't work, player 1 of their terminator machine didn't work right, the air hockey table didn't track the score, the golf game didn
Not a lot of people bowling. Grandkids had a great time playing the machine's. Won lots of tickets they are 4 and 8 years old. We had pizza with our family reasonable pricing for 16inch and 20 inch
My family and I had a great time. The arcades were fun and fairly priced. The bowling was great. The biggest issue I had is we were waiting to get prizes from the arcade for twenty minutes while the manager just ignored us until finally we just left
A great, laid back place to enjoy yourself whether it's at the bar or playing games. The perfect place for a night out. Good food, excellent drinks, and great customer service. Both Brent and Russell know their customers well and give you the best experience possible. Just remember to tip! ??
Poor food & worse customer service. After buying a pizza & soda at regular price, saw a deal that offered lower priced package & 2 bonus cash cards for the arcade, so I asked if they would honor the package & give us the cards (I didn't ask for the lower food prices) but they wouldn't because they already got full price out of us. Glad I was only scouting for my hockey organization for our tournament & hadn't already brought everyone here. We'll definitely hit up the other sports bars in town. ****And I
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
