The Operating Room Ankeny

I think The Operating Room in Ankeny makes for an enjoyable family night for all. My daughters have a good time when I take them to the Operating Room We enjoy playing competitive Pac Man (4 players) and Mario Kart, the motorcycle game, the car racing game, the Jurassic Park game and the Tomb Raider game. Great time for all of us!

My fiancee and I reserved a table late last year for our wedding. When we arrived at our table, no one approached our group to ask us if we were the wedding party or to take our order. We were there for 20 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. We decided to leave because it seemed that the staff couldn't handle such a large party (that they had advanced warning of) and we could get much more affordable pizza and a better game selection at UpDown.

Place is actually really fun for millennials! The drinks are great! The music is just right! Some of the games don't work, but you'll have that. A must visit place if you're from out of town/state! Staff is also great and very kind!

The Operating Room staff are all super Amazing. The organization is clean and kid friendly as well. No bad encounter. The Drinks were made up to standard and the games were definitely a hit. Will be back in the future!

Ambiance is way better than other barcade establishments. The games all function and the staff is very attentive. Would be nice to see some of the games lower in price for play but it's a source of income so I understand. The redemption prizes aren't the most fancy or amazing for an establishment for adults but the games are top notch and the variety of cocktails really shine. The establishment is very clean and the rewarding feeling of hitting a jackpot is something special.

They have the newest pinball machines and well maintained for the amount of people playing them! They also have pinball Tournaments as well.

Kasey and the entire Operating Room crew made our event a night to remember for all of our guests. Great service from everyone involved. From the planning and communication prior, to the food and bar service the night of, and everything in between, we couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Highly recommended choice to have a great time!

A great variety of games and entertainment options for kids and young adults alike. The arcade uses machines that accept ?credits? rather than coins on a card that you pre-purchase and load with credits. Would have really liked a conversion listed for real-dollar amounts to credits posted somewhere reasonably within view. I felt confused about how many credits we were buying.

Very clean and well kept arcade games! The staff is wonderful and friendly. Highly recommend this place for a fun evening out.

Awesome pinball lineup and variety of other fun games to play. Super clean and comfortable environment with friendly staff. Great for families or a date night. We enjoy it so much we've driven up from Omaha multiple times!

Great way to spend time on a rainy evening with my family and friends! My kids loved the games! (so did the adults!) We had pizza from Fong's and it was great! The staff was helpful and friendly. My kids are already planning their return! My husband and I plan to come back without them! ;)

Nice place, great for the kids. I may be old when I say this but the music was too loud to have nice conversation, but that's really a minor thing and hardly a complaint. Be warned though, they get food from a nearby pizzaria so if you don't want pizza you'll need to get food somewhere else. The pizza is good though.

Fun place to take the kids during the day. It's also nice that after 8 PM it is 18+ only. Some of the drinks are pricey and some are very reasonable. Good variety of games, just wish there was a little more. Skeeball, a fee basketball games, a ton of pinball machines and your average racing games plus a handful of other things. The games are a little more expensive than I think they should be. Overall though, it's a fun place to go to every once in a while when we just want to get out for a little bit. Also

Loaded a game card on their machine, and the money charged to our bank account yet the credits did not load to the game card we purchased. We went to the bar to resolve the issue, and the bartenders (who were very kind) texted their manager about the issue. After waiting for over an hour, and sending a screen shot of the charge to our bank account to the manager we were told it wasn't their issue since it charged our card but didn't show up in their system? Very frustrating. They offered no compensation fo

Brought my kids here over the weekend. The games were awesome they had a blast playing Mario kart. The staff was amazing, especially when my son set his card on the top part of the game and it slipped down, they were able to get it out for him!

I just went here for the first time and it was a Sunday night. There were only several customers there, so it was easy to play whatever I wanted without having to wait. I really enjoyed the wide selection of games. The staff was helpful in instructing us how to add money to the cards.

I spent 50$ there and got a little 10c keychain don't recommend this place sucks

Staff was amazing, had a great time with the variety of drinks on the menu and really enjoyed the pinball games!

Had a fun & relaxed Wednesday date night here. Bartenders were friendly. Hand sanitizer readily available & everything was very clean. Drinks were good and got lots of fun prizes to bring home to our kiddo.

Bad trip tonight. We won atleast 500 tickets over the span of like an hour spent with our daughter. However for some reason the ticket machine was only showing 99 (a couple was nice though and gave up some tickets to speed things up as alot of people were in line, I meant to thank them and pay them back but inadvertantly spaced it off as I rushed to get out of there).

We like this place a little to much, the finance and friends spent to much but fun times and memories are worth it

Half of the games are either out of order or glitched out. Probably won't be coming back. If your establishment is provide entertainment via an arcade, most customers walking are expecting that the games are in working order.

As if the West Glen location wasn't awesome enough! I love the open floor plan and all the cool games. They even have a kid-friendly non-alcoholic slushie available for the kiddos! Same awesome vibe as the original location but this location caters food from Fong's. How cool! If you're in the Ankeny area, it's definitely a place to stop by. Bring the kids during the day or have a date night! Highly recommend!

Not the best bar/arcade around. The location in West Des Moines is definitely more worth the money! The drinks there are better and they have a better variety of games, they also have better staff that make your time there more enjoyable!

Loved it here! Such a fun place to go to as any age, great games. Prizes were lacking a bit but that's probably because there were some people ahead of me getting a ton of prizes.

Took 6 kiddos and of course loaded all their cards separate as most kiddos already had their own cards. Well check my bank acct next day and I have 7 charges not 6 posted to my account. Called to see about getting it fixed or made right. They took info to look into it. We'll Never got back to me. Super unprofessional. Way to rip off your customers.

Place was clean and staff helpful. Plenty of hand sanitizer around in strategic locations. Staff was also going around and sanitizing stations. Overall everyone did good and we enjoyed our evening. We won enough tickets for a drink holder.

My friend and I both tried to go here but the bouncer was very rude. We are both over 25 and he tried to say our IDs are fake because of an app on his phone that scanned them. They really need to find a different way to test the validity of IDs or they will continue to loss customers. Will not recommend this place. Save your money and go down the street to whiskey river. Overrated and over priced. Paid $18 for two 4 oz slushies. Bartenders could care less about their job and were hiding in the back the majority of the time. God forbid you inconvenience them to make you a drink. Won't be going back.

So much potential, poorly executed. Expected this to be an adult arcade bar with pinball, skeeball, vintage arcade games, etc. Instead it's a bunch of kids games and claw machines. Waited over 5 minutes for one of the 3 bar tenders to put their phones down and acknowledge us to order a drink (we were the only ones standing there). Then the only machine which dispenses "token" cards broke. Save yourself the frustration and go to up-down.

It's a grown up game room with a really nice bar. Where else can a guy play pinball or video games and have a nice pour of Knob Creek at a very reasonable price? THIS PLACE, that's where. Go. Have fun. Be the pinball wizard again.

Went in to purchase a gift card, manager was on her phone and ignoring me while I was asking questions. She was very rude and disrespectful. Two men then approached her she then stopped what she was doing to talk to them about how she would be there in a minute to play games and drink with them. All while still ignoring me and not helping at all.

I think I like this place too much sometimes. Great drinks, staff, and most of all PINBALL. Always clean. Great to be able to order Fongs from there as well.

This place is amazing! We always have so much fun here. The bartenders are always awesome and the games are a blast.

The Operating Room is fantastic. Hands down the best arcade games in the state of Iowa. Delicious slushies and everything is fairly priced. I will be back.

Affordable family fun, staff is great, but the points prize machine wiped our card and after an hour, the kids were still unable to get there prizes and we had hours to drive, so we couldn't wait anymore ??

What a great place to go do something fun and different! Love the cold slushie drinks during summer! And it is very well kept, everything was nice and clean.

Pretty good bar experience. Some of the prize games are set to not pay out but that's to be expected. Otherwise good drinks and atmosphere.

More expensive than most arcade bars ($1 per play on most games) and I am 99% certain they are watering down the liquor because I had over 10 mix drinks and a shot and I'm normally drunk after 3 ?? maybe pregame beforehand if you plan on going here or just drive a bit further for Up Down..

Soooo much fun for both adults and kids! We always have such a great time stopping in here for some games, slushies, and a ton of cool decor to look at!

This place is awesome! I absolutely love the slushies and all of the pinball machines. The owners are wonderful people and we love going there!

I had over 1,500 ticket and went to check how many tickes I han and i had 135. When you chech your ticketa on the ticket spender people can take you tickets when they chek there balance after you.

Fun games but not a lot of games get you tickets so it is had to get prized food is ok too.

Fun place to cool down in the summer with one of their unique slushies. Especially cool if you like to play games and not just sit around when you're out.

Poor management, complete lack of customer service. Do not go here if you expect to have fair winnings and a good time. Have seen similar comments from previous reviews on poor management surprised nothing has changed.

This place is so horrible, do not use the money machine to check your tickets or else you have a 70 percent chance of getting your tickets stolen and the employees do not care anf do nothing to help. Go some where else)))

I'm a huge fan of gaming, especially pinball, this place has it all! Great selection of beer, great staff and great games!
