Customer Reviews

We visited this place after seeing a sponsored ad for a youth pinball event on Saturday mornings. We figured for an hour of free play it would be a great weekend family activity. So glad we checked it out because they had a LOT to offer for all ages! Our kids are 8 and 15, both of them found lots to do. We were there over two hours, prices were super reasonable, the food was good. We really need enjoyed the wide open spaces, the fun atmosphere, and the cool yard games. It was a beautiful day and they had t

High-quality gaming venue with mostly pinball, skeeball, and a good selection of classic arcade games, including some rare ones. Very good beverage selection.

Attention all pinball wizards.. And new players too.. You will love this place! Great staff, Very friendly and helpful for your first time there especially. They have lots of pinball machines and other games too. Their skee- ball games are great and Mario n Basketball Multiplayer are new and lots of fun for you and your friends. They offer league registrations, and for coed and ladies night, which is lots of fun and you get to meet lots of great quality people. The prices are reasonable, and the machin

Love this place. It's such an amazing pinball/arcade bar. They have so many pinball machines. The drinks are good and I assume the food is as well

Big wide open space with a ton of pinball machines, skeeball, and some arcade games mixed in. Full bar with some apps and ??. Fun place place for the whole family or groups for sure. Even when there is a good amount of people here it doesn't feel over crowded.

Solid place to enjoy some pinball, games, drinks and some bar food. Great location on the west side near Middleton. Definitely some of the nicest and well playing pinball machines I've ever played. Looking forward to going again. They have Pinball Tournaments every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.

Love this place. We come here every week after work. The bartenders, all of them, are such wonderful and funny people. Even as an introvert, I feel right at home. Drinks switch out at a nice pace. The atmosphere is very much barcade! I love it! I've grown really fond of pinball after coming here, when I didn't care for it much initially.

Pinballs set to difficult. But some have value pricing. Like 3 for $2. Where can you play a Stern Limited Edition for $1 a game. Difficult: meaning slope changed from factory default. Outlane rubbers taken out if they came with them. All in all, a super fun selection of games and okay pricing. Great staff. Best frozen pizza. ??

This place is perfect for after work happy hours! There were so many options for games and the beer and vibe was great :). I didn't make it onto the leaderboard for Jaws pinball, but I'll try again next time!

A must go place if you love pinball. You need to go at night they have the lights low and the machines really make the place glow. The owner has always been super nice to myself and family even before they Made Kickback. That's why we travel from Iowa to Madison is for Pinball and people like them.

Best vibes of a bar I've been to in outer madison. Good rotating selection of on tap, cocktails, and plenty of pinball. Food is very limited but quite good. A soft Clausens pretzel goes down great after some ski ball!

This was my first visit and I loved it. Very attentive bartenders and when I asked for NA beer options they were all smiles and excited to show me the multiple options they had! I ordered a pepperoni pizza and enjoyed it also. Games are $1 per play so a little spendy there but it's a great space and atmosphere.

Jim and all the staff are phenomenal, friendly and genuine. I've been there on several occasions whether it was for fun, board meetings or even to host an event. Jim and his staff were 100% accommodating and super responsive. I definitely recommend this establishment.

The Kickback is a terrific addition to Middleton. They have the best selection of high end pinball machines you will find in the Madison area. Everything is well maintained and in working order. The Mario Kart is a blast to play with up to 4 players. They have a full bar with a great selection of craft beer options. I have been in here several times since they opened. The staff members are always friendly and knowledgeable.

Brand new place, and still a bit open. The staff are very friendly, and I loved the cider on tap. All the machines are shiny new and clean, or shiny refurbished and clean.

Plethora of PINBALL! ?? Huge positive support to pinball and local communities. Awesome and organized tournaments for Pinball , Skee-Ball and Mario Cart!?? ?? Jim is cool even if he is the Pinball Final Boss here! ??

Decent pizza, decent craft beer selection, amazing pinball collection!

Had a great time here!!! Came for a free pinball instruction session and then a day later for a meat raffle. Loved the atmosphere and the machines were well maintained. Will return multiple times!

Super fun space 42 pinballs that are well maintained. 1 play per $1 or 3 plays for $2. Skee ball and a few other arcade games. Good selection of craft rap beer.

It's clean, everyone is upbeat, all the games work and the service is phenomenal. Great place to grab a drink, and enjoy some pinball. Would highly recommend.

Great and fun place! We had a nice time playing games and enjoyed some pizza too. Highly recommend.

Recently had a holiday party here. The staff is very friendly and helpful! They ran a Skee Ball and Mario Kart Tournament for us- and helped all the first time gamers understand how to play. Their games are all in amazing working order and the space is the perfect combination to have gaming fun and relax with friends. Excellent venue! Highly recommend!

Jim Schoen new place! Stop in 9.7.24, 2nd nite open. Sooo many pins!! Great cauliflower pizza!

All the pinball machines are amazing and excellent shape! Staff and owner are super friendly and will give you the run down. Good beer and drink selections, leagues, tournaments, and so much more. I will be back. Again and again!

They have the best, well-kept pinball machines in the madison area. The pizza is very delicious and so are the cocktails.

The Kickback is a small arcade, consisting mostly of pinball games. The other games are very modern and well cared for. Environment is very clean and atmosphere is inviting!

Cool place! Didn't try the food, beer selection was good and pinball selection was good too. I can tell by the space that they've got plans and there's a lot of potential in the place. Great experience!

Great selection of pinball machines, more Stern LEs in one place than I've seen anywhere else.

Great service, drinks, and atmosphere, even better pinball. My spouse and I find pinball spots everywhere we travel and this was one of the better selections and some of the best kept public play tables we've played! Definitely worth it if you like pinball!!

Fun entertainment while we drink our over priced beer. It's the games that sell if for me but the service is genuinely some of the best out there

I dug it. It's a very convenient location in a clean, well-lit building. Ample seating outside on a nice patio, good tap selections, extensive collection of well-maintained pinball machines with a handful of good non-pinball games too. Family friendly. We'll be back.

I was addicted to this place. Was here over 10 times (driving 90min each way) since they opened. Now I'm switching back to I/O. Went on a Saturday morning and there was a kids tournament and multiple parties. Half the machines were not usable and I was kicked off Black Knight after putting $3 into the machine. It's bullshit. If you are really into pinball, clearly not the place yo play.

This place is fantastic. If you're looking for a barcade, this is the spot to go. They have every pinball machine known to man, along with classic arcade games (i.e. pacman) and 4 skeeball lanes. They serve Heggie's pizza which is delicious and their soft pretzel with mustard was great. Selection of beer and cocktails is also excellent. We tried the cherry cider which was very tasty and will go back for the cocktails another night. The games are all very reasonably priced and there is an ATM on premises as

Come for the pinball, stay for the Heggies Pizza (join the cult) PS, I pour a mean Mal?rt shot

They have really good cocktails and beer at a decent price and a lot of fun games. We did not have food here.

This place is amazing. A bunch of well maintained pinballs and other arcade games. The owner is very nice and the bar staff was great. We will definitely be back!

Great place! Tons of new machines, pinball and vintage video games. Great taps and cocktails!

I was very excited to check out the new establishment. When I showed up there was a sign saying the establishment was closed for the evening due to a private party. We were turned away at the door. I guess they don't want my business. Or anybody else that I tell about that. So sad. I wish you people would understand how business works

Open space and lots of pinball games! Bartenders were a delight to talk to and I look forward to coming back!

Amazing team, fun atmosohere, and all around great time!

Great beer and pinball

Had a great time. Friendly staff. Fun atmosphere. Came back again. Highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
