Great place. You have a bunch of games to enjoy with your friends or alone. Great selection of drinks available. And the people were super nice ! Won't have the chance to come back as I'm foreigner but I definitely recommend the place !
Found this place after checking out and leaving thereafter another arcade establishment in the area. As a patron who values ambiance and overall experience, I must say that The Ice Box Arcade takes the cake. It is clean, and with a huge open space. The atmosphere is as inviting as it is vibrant, staff exudes warmth and hospitality. So, all you family-friendly, fun-seekers and nostalgia junkies, if you haven't experienced the pinball and arcade paradise that is The Ice Box Arcade, you're seriously missing ou
The Ice Box is one of the true historic gems of Seattle; conveniently located across from Big Mario?s, Bad Jimmie?s etc., is a barcade with what is probably the best selection of pinball in the greater Seattle area (besides the museum near CID). The space itself is probably most noteworthy - it was in fact an ice locker; what sets it apart from other places is the fact that the owners will do little things like roll out a BBQ and leave a bunch of dogs, patties and buns for anyone walking through. The entry
This is a great date night/ friends night out spot! Love their little outdoor area too! They have tons of fun pinballs machines and other games too! Makes you feel like a kid again!
Holy cow! This place totally exceeded my expectations! Not only do they have a large collection of awesome pins and arcade machines (in good repair, that's important), there's an awesome little garden and patio area, and a stage where they have some live music. Place felt clean, fresh open air, and I couldn't have been more stoked. Big time five stars from me.
Very clean place. Kids and adults will like it. Loved the "No Grass on the Astroturf" sign to warn stoners to not pass out while playing games.
Fun hole in the wall arcade. Mostly pinball but a few classic arcade video game gems slipped in there too. Tons of drink options, alcohol & non-alcohol. Love that it runs on quarters, keeps the nostalgia alive that much more! 10/10
This place is amazing. Well maintained games; tough to do this I'm sure. Really lucky I can come by and visit and play the games and sing karaoke.
Had an AMAZING time here! They have the original Marvel vs Capcom 2 (my absolute favorite arcade game) machine here and the sound is on!! Chaynee the staff here is absolutely wonderful. I even won a fancy cigar humidors box from their claw machine!!
Such a fun place to spend an evening! You feel like you're walking up to a backyard party. They have so many arcade games, a pool table and an air hockey table. It was karaoke night and the place was lively for a Thursday. Can't wait to go back and whoop my friend in air hockey!
Awesome games! Awesome people! Def a positive establishment to get your kids into pinball.
Great place for all ages, lots of arcade games. Outdoor seating to enjoy some sunshine or a nice evening in warmer weather. Great atmosphere with Bands playing on the weekend. Featuring music for everyone.
Cute little place! The majority of the games are pinball...tons of pinball. Wish they had more shooting games or a motorcycle racing one. They do have snack items and beer but a bigger variety of food would be preferred! Will definitely return!
Great place to take the whole family. Kids and teens will get to experience some great retro games. Many pinball machine choices, an air hockey table and good beer selection. So glad to find a place like this that allows people under 21 years old. My teenage sons had a great time, I will definitely be back.
Really friendly service. Excellent. Our 7year old granddaughter loved it, especially the ice hockey thing. Too noisy though - did my head in.
My young adult son and his Dad went here recently. My husband loves the variety of pinball games. My son thought it was cool that there was a putting green which he decided to use while his Dad played inside. The problem came when an older lady complained about him and he was asked to leave. He didn't argue and just left , but felt a little taken aback. Was he not supposed to use the putting green? Not the best impression.
Great place for pinball. Very relaxed environment while still following covid safety measures. Great fun on a rainy Sunday!
Fantastic place to get together with friends!!:) I set the highest score for PacMan tonight 9-29-18!! I Soo proud of myself.;) I was even wearing my Pac Man Hoodie!!!
Solid fun place. LOTS of pinball. They also have one air hockey machine, Mario kart and a few other arcade games. They have a machine that gives quarters if you put $1, $5, $10. It is also dog friendly. Recommend visiting!
Amazing place! Feels like someone's amazing hidden arcade. People are wearing masks and being cautious and the place is practice very safe habits lots of air flow and some amazing games. Great place to go and hang out.
Fun arcade! When I went they didn't have a pool table but the games were still a good time. I would recommend this arcade.
Great place. Clean and awesome games. My 4 year old son loves it and the staff was very polite. Highly recommend
One of the best pinball locations I've been to. All the games were well maintained. There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the arcade
I really am enamored by the eclectic variety of arcade and pinball games. A very inviting and comfortable atmosphere throughout. I've seen a couple different shows there, and both the stage and sound quality are great ????
Great place to get your game on and pretend to be a pinball wizard!
Games are great. Staff is awesome. Beware: The boss? kid likes to fly through the place on a motorized scooter, he nearly hit my 8.5 months pregnant wife. When asked to stop, ?my dad owns the place, you shouldn't talk to me like that.?
Icebox is rad! They are open long hours everyday, and have a nice spread of pinball machines, including some arcade games. The patio is wonderful in the short Seattle summers, and the main room is big and full of cool games and comes with a small bar and snack stand. But for me, the best part of Icebox is the auxiliary "Classics" room that has a bunch of immaculate solid state games from the golden era of the 1970s - early1980s. Seriously dope to see so many of these available to play, in such good shap
Nice neighborhood arcade. Kid friendly lots of pinball. Beer options. Need draft beer.
Arcade bar with mostly pinball machines but a few classic arcade video games as well. The bar sells canned beer, seltzer, kombucha, and cider so there's really something for everyone, including non-alcoholic drinks. The outdoor area is perfect for groups; they have many picnic tables in the sun. Indoors was a bit hot and felt like there was no AC (Seattle in August), but the outdoors was lovely. They can host events too and have a small dedicated arcade room for groups.
Great selection of pinball games. Super cool vibe. The place felt like being in my garage as a kid which is a good thing. Only gave it 4 stars since they are still in the process of getting their liquor license. At the same time I hope it keeps its family feel after they get their licence. Definitely coming back here. ???????
Nostalgia! What a fun place to hang out! Had a great time hanging with my buddy, enjoying drinks and playing video games and pinball machines!!! Fantastic!
Very nice staff, small space but still packs in an excellent quantity of good games. Very bright and cheery atmosphere. No onsite parking, plenty of (residential) street parking. The owners have a very sweet Pibble who will occasionally come through for sniffs, scratches, and a nap under a pinball machine.
I did not feel welcomed when I walked in. The bartender was giving my group of friends and I weird stares. I was trying to pull money out of the ATM that they have there and it malfunctioned, I asked one the workers if they have ever seen that before and ignored me several times because he came to actually look at it and then said "I don't know" and walked away and kept talking to other patrons at the bar. After awhile we left because we felt discriminated. The bar looks very cool but the people who work he
Ice Box is an all ages Beercade with a rotating selection of arcade games and pinball machines. They are always doing work to expand the place so check back often. Currently they have about 40 pinball machines about 10 arcade games, claw machine, and one of the only air hockey tables I know of in the area. There are 30 non alcoholic choices and there are about the same number of options for alcohol including beers, seltzers, hard ciders, and hard kombucha. All ages until 8:00 pm. Weekly pinball tournament
Did well in a pinball tournament! Awesome machines, that are well maintained.
Awesome place to play pinball, and one of the few that will let kids play. Good beer selection and plenty of non-alcoholic options as well. The staff is super friendly, and the machines are some of the best maintained in the city. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!
Let me just say that every member of staff at the Icebox Arcade is kind, friendly, and wholesome. Danielle, Alex, & Jon are creating a community where friends and family can come together in a space that caters to all ages. In addition, the icebox actually pays its performers for live events. They take care of the artists they bring in, and have been incredibly successful in putting on shows this past year. I love this place & everyone should come here!
Great little hidden gem. Nice selection of classic arcade games, new and old favorite pinball machines and a few newer arcade style games (they have Killer Queen and Air Hockey!). Refreshment bar has small assortment of candy, chips, etc. as well as soda, beer and white claw. They're always chip about bringing in outside food as long as you be respectful about it. They also offer the space to host groups/bday parties and usually have big sporting events televised on the projector. They are also a part of th
Great atmosphere. Awesome selection. Owner was very kind and had a trustworthy vibe. I felt like a kid walking into a candy shop coming here, and it's open during the day. :D I will definitely be coming back soon for drinks and video games ;)
Constantly being made better and the 3 times I have gone more games, cleaner area, and better organized. Can't wait to see what it looks like after all done.
We love Hannah!! Super awesome place with so many games. A great place to go in Ballard that you can bring kids and not spend crazy amounts of money. Pinball, air hockey, Tetris, Miss Pac-Man, Killer Queens which I have never played until this place. It's a hidden gem. The only thing that would make this place even better is if they expanded and had a bowling alley... (a girl can dream)
This place is awesome! Came for the live metal show, stayed for the arcade. They have free foosball, beer, an outdoor smoking area and even the bathroom was cool! Free tampons????(didn't use any)
Just had a fabulous time at the Ice Box, good games, great atmosphere. Brought my son's (middle school-aged) friends to the arcade as a part of a birthday afternoon, they had a wonderful time!
Great pinball selection, most machines are 50cents per game! Weekly pinball tournaments. Beers & hard seltzer available. Open Monday through Sunday, available for bday parties. Air Hockey table on premises. Overall one of my favorite barcades in Seattle. ????
Best pinball, I especially love the monster bash, attack from Mars, twilight zone, and nba. Soooo many classic 90s bally Williams pinball games all spiffed up and upgraded. Cold drinks, big outdoor space with seating to chill, and the nicest staff ?? Don't miss this unforgettable arcade!
Cash-only - there's no way to play games here with a credit card or any digital payment method. This isn't listed on the website or in any other reviews - we came and had to leave because we couldn't play.
It wasnt as busy and had more open feel. More classic tables here than new ones. 3 were down. Most or the newish tables cost .75 and older ones were .50. Overall I liked the open feel here and will be back to play the cactus table
Dog and Kid Friendly. Nice Patio Outdoor Area. We Got Pizza From Across The Street. Employees Were Super Friendly And Helpful. Beer, Soda, Water, and Light Snacks.
Pinball pinball pinball. This is the only dedicated pinball arcade in the pacific northwest with truly flat floors. I've scoured the region with my triaxis digital level, and when I say these floors are flat, I mean I've checked down to the fifth decimal place. They have all the good classic games and the new favorites. Great vibes. Flat floors! They got flat floors! Some of the places I've played in, it's like playing on the side of a hill. With pinball you need flat floors. Flat. Not almost flat. These a
This place has a really cool vibe! If you have kiddos it's darn near perfect. They got sodas for adults.but no big trashy bar. It really is a hidden gem ??
What a great place to do a birthday party! Lots of pinball and some classic greats such as Gallaga, Donky Kong and Jr. The highlight of the night was Killer Queen. 5 v 5 action with different ways to win. I wish I still lived in Ballard. Will be back when I'm in town.
10/10 staff who care about the arcade machines. Best pinball venue in Seattle, with a great variety of games while still having plenty of space for people to socialize and smoke +drink in the "porch" area.
Great spot to chill with friends and play arcade games. Lots of pinball machines and random other arcade games (Mario kart, some shooting games, and more). Also love how late they're open for - will definitely be back!
All ages arcade with beer, cider, non-alcoholic drinks and an ungodly amount of candy. Good mix of pinball and arcade games, including air hockey! The place can get a little drafty/stuffy depending on the time of year and if they have the garage doors rolled up, so bring a sweatshirt if you're worried about the elements.
My little cousins love coming here to play the arcade games and minature golf! Other patrons are also really friendly and nice.
Amazing selection of games that is regularly updated. Friendly, helpful staff. Always a fun time and a rare place to enjoy with my kid in Ballard!
It was okay. Don't need to go back again. Pretty much all of the other barcades in Seattle have many more options for games.
Glad I found this place on my last night in town. Awesome setup, very clean, and nice selection of games. Even had a Super Chexx game ! Just wish he had more parking !
Nice place, friendly staff, clean. Great variety of arcade games, ones i knew from a while back and new. Had pin ball, pool, air hockey. Pool was $3 an hour.
Awesome service, street fighter 2 machine was really good. Unfortunately player one move forward needs to be checked, works well past that
Love that it's all ages, and that it's a new arcade in Seattle. Looking forward to seeing more 80s and 90s arcade machines in there, right now it's pretty heavy on the pinball. Lacks atmosphere because bits so big, but hey, we're here to play games right?
What a place! It truly is like hanging in a basement with great games, pool, air hockey and more. A great place to go any day of the week with an atmosphere that will make you go wOw!
I really enjoyed this place. It has a fun vibe and has old school machines. It's fun for kids and adults!
Great chill place. The owner's son was such a great host to all the kids. So encouraging to the little kids playing games and an amazing artist.
Cute & kid friendly!! Don't forget about karaoke at 8pm on Thursdays. Such a hoot!
Such a gem in the neighborhood!!! I absolutely Love bringing my son here! Thanks for all the endless hours of fun!
It's a super fun place in an unexpected location. Great games. My kids are welcome. I can't recommend it enough.
Laid back vibe and full of fairly rare pinball machines such as Pinball Magic and Transporter the Rescue. Plus, they have La Croix sparkling water for a buck for those who dont want beer or sugar. Update: The La Croix now costs $2 instead of $1. Also, too many of the machines lean left or right. However, free play Tuesday mostly balances that out. On Tuesdays, two of the pinballs and an arcade machine are on free play. If you show up early enough, you may even be asked to choose a machine to be put on free
Brought my kids under 10 years old here on a Saturday afternoon. Fun time. All ages until 8 pm.
This is truly a hidden gem in Frelard! There's drinks, games, and good vibes. You can grab a slide across the street and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere.
Sadly, it was a little empty, so I couldn't get at competitive play time on Killer Queen. This looks like it will be a solid summer-time hang out. Don't wait for the weather to brighten up to check this place out!
Children could enjoy pinball machines without having to wait. Great place for a child's birthday party.
Fantastic place to hang out rain or shine, with tasty liquid snacks and well-maintained machines. Go have fun here!
This was such an incredibly awesome place filled with wonderful kind and welcoming people who definitely went out of their ways to make the new people feel welcomed and loved. These people are the best??????
One of the largest bar bathrooms in seattle! The deck chairs come in many colors and they sell Newports. Bring some pizza from Big Mario?s.
Great place for kids and adults and Birthdays. Pool, air hockey, Arcade and Pinball. Great local beer served ice cold
I love this place!! Pinball machines always working great, really clean, friendly an overall fun place to hang out.
Chill atmosphere, great selection of games considering how dated the industry is and how difficult I imagine it is to find them and keep them maintained. Definitely a place I would frequent
Probably the best place in town to play pinball right now. Great vibes and ran by awesome people
Great place to play pinball and grab a beer. Open most hours great staff and friendly patrons.
Great place, the vibe is more like party at your friends really cool house than a bar.
The price of machines at a dollar is a bit high considering add a ball down the street offer 50 cents a game so doubt they can keep that price that high and expect me to switch to them even though they offer a different set of classics
Great pinball machines staff always friendly Icebox is a icon in the Seattle pinball scene If u love pinball the ice box is a must see!!!
Pretty sweet! Pinball, 80s and 90s video games, relaxed atmosphere, beverages. What's not to like?
Nice selection of pinball and arcade machines, reasonably priced beer selection and good atmosphere. Very nice.
one of many places with great games. ran into a few operational issues Steaff took care of it right away. I had a great time here
Amazing old school crt arcade games. Been looking for a place like this! It really gets bumping when the 21+ time hits.
Chill place to play some classic and updated arcade and pinball while listening to people work hard at singing Karaoke!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
