Once a hidden gem on the north side of McAllen, The Fluxx used to be one of my go-to spot for collectables, retro games and pop culture merch. Unfortunately, its recent relocation has come with a noticeable decline in quality and maintenance. What once was a fun blend of collectibles, classic consoles, and vintage arcade cabinets now feels like a shell of its former self. The selection of collectible figures, Funko Pops, comics, and retro systems has dwindled significantly ? almost to the point of being
Nice shop if you like collectibles, comics and arcade games. Staff was very friendly. They have a decent selection of collectible action figures. The comic book selection is pretty small. The arcade seems nice just a tad bit cramped. We didn't play, but will definitely come back to play.
So great to keep places like this alive- great people and passionate pop culture employees. Unlike big chains that have a shooting game and a basketballl hoop that drains 20.00 to win a 1.00 prize with tickets earned? it's just straight up Stranger things real arcade/toy store vibes and kids and teens and adults may not know how much they will miss that authenticity until places like these are gone? I walked the last blockbuster a few years back and people remembered what it was like to actually go out and
Place was super fun. The arcade is top notch and perfectly atmospheric. And great value. Go check it out.
It used to be $5 all you can play (whatever is working) and now it went up to $6 (whatever is working). Hopefully they use that extra dollar to fix the games.
This spot had all the arcade games I expected and the overall vibe was awesome! New favorite spot for the weekends!
Took my kids for the first time and THEY had a BLAST. ONLY $5.00 per person and PLAY all the ARCADE GAMES you WANT. As LONG as you want to PLAY. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this PLACE. ?? ?? ??
Definitely got some collectibles worth checking out. Has a old-school arcade in the back with free play for a little fee .
Worst experience ever. Do not waste your time or money. Took my daughter to go play arcade games. When I walked in the employee, who's name is Josh, was relaxing with a friend watching movies and didn't greet us. After paying we went to go play in the back only to find that 12 of the arcade cabinets were out of order (all of the fun ones like the Jurassic park games and house of the dead). I went back to talk to Josh and he informed me (without ever getting off his chair or taking his eyes off his movie)
Patrons beware! If you were interested in attending their arcade, don't bother. The machines are all broken yet the employees won't tell you beforehand because and I quote, ?Well, if we told you they were broken, nobody would come in.? You can attempt to request a refund, but they won't give it to you because of their policy. Charging people to play unlimited games at an arcade with broken machines is a scam. I find this to be very scummy and it's such a shame that they're engaging in this practice becau
I recently visited ?The Flux? arcade store and was thoroughly disappointed. Half of the arcade machines were broken, making it impossible to enjoy the visit. When I brought this to the attention of an employee, Josh, he lazily responded that if people knew the machines were broken, no one would come in. His attitude was shockingly rude, and he refused to provide a refund for the wasted money. Instead of attending to customers, the employees were engrossed in watching movies and displayed a complete lack of
This last month I've been going with my friends to The Flux. Each time we went we we'll have a blast playing the arcades machines. Definitely one of the best moments I had with them. Definitely worth our time.?????
I had a decent experience with my brother the fee was cheap today $3.99 instead of $5.00 so I couldn't complain that much. The game room was surprisingly clean and the environment was cool with music. My only issue is that most of the games are broken and if they do work only a few buttons work or 1 gun works at certain machines. So you end paying $3.99 to play maybe at max 10 games out of what looks like to be 25+ games. If they could take machines out to make space or possibly just fix the games then this
I remember visiting the old Nickelodeon arcade in El Centro Mall, so went specifically for the arcade. $5 all you can play is a great deal. I understand these are old classic arcade games and they may not all work to specification; at least remove the ones that don't work/have no fix to make more space for patrons. I would recommend this place if you need to kill an hour or so of time. Unfortunately we didn't check out the collectibles.
It's a little shop and the arcade was ok but many machines should be fixed up or replaced maybe even rotated for other cabinets to maintain that wow factor going long term. I'd also like to see more diverse retro games for sale. If all you are going to charge is eBay prices but no room to haggle then good luck longterm.
Amazing place! This arcade is such an fun place to go with family or hang out with friends. They have a lot of games that suit just about everyone. Also, they have a large collection of funko pops, figurines, and Pok?mon cards! The entrance fee is $5/person and you get unlimited credits or plays per machine. The only thing is sometimes a few machines don't work or are out of order.
I went in there with my nephews, 7 and 2 year olds, to waste time. I had to pay five dollars for each of us. I understand businesses need to make money but I didn't agree with me having to pay for my 2 year old knowing he doesn't know how to play the games and not being able to reach them. The cashier did provide a stool but it still didn't make up for my nephew not being able to really play the games. Aside from that, the place seemed pretty clean, it was fresh, I think all the games worked. For a person l
My husband and I went on a date to their arcade. The entrance is $5 and you can play all you want. They have many retro arcades from super Mario bros to pac man. They do have multiple machines that don't work but for $5 dollars, I can't complain.
Employee was great fun experience browsing items no complaints on that side. I did get quoted on what seemed to be less than 10% on some items I was hoping to trade in for others I was offered 13 dollars in store credit. I ended up not purchasing any items and keeping my items had to do a review because the owner should have this brought to their attention, I did actually end up trading some at another location and getting a pretty cool item so overall fun day i frequent a lot of stores and other location
Cool arcade. Not many retro games for purchase which is what I went in looking for. Would be a good place to go if you are looking to play some arcades though.
Had previously no problem going into The Flux and being greeted with awesome attitudes and service. Maybe they were just having a bad day but it felt as if there was a bad vibe hanging in the air. Brought in items to be traded, was given a 15%-20% sales trade for the value. It's understandable as a business to practice this way, it has to be done in order to re sell and make a profit. Even though the average trade value is usually 35%-45% of what its worth i was willing to cut my losses to move some of my i
I have been to this location on and off for about half a year now and I can say without a doubt that it is a fine establishment! I have been satisfied with every product I have bought several different items including games, anime figs, and even appeal and all of the products have been great especially considering some of them are 2nd hand! I have always been helped by Anahi and she has been nothing but outstanding. Highly recommend this spot!
Counter guy with the hat and glasses was too busy trying to sell us big ticket items to answer questions about what we were actually interested in. Ended up buying less than we looked at because he rambled about old Pepsi flavors instead of telling me about the comics I was asking about. My family asked about a couple video games on display and instead he chose to try to sell us a superbly comic instead. If he had shown us the proton pack f4om the Facebook video we would have taken that too.
They didn't have much of a selection of video games for sale. That was the main thing I was looking for. However, the real star of the place is the arcade room. Great arcade games with many to choose from.
This store used to be great. I wish it still was. The arcade in the back has seen better days. Alot of the games that you would want to play are broken or flat out do not work. Free play is only 5 bucks so.... IDK.... maybe you get what you pay for?? The front of the store is ok. Some cool merch and of course the retro vibe but it's just not what it used to be. Instead of a place I would like to frequent to see rotating stock and hang out in the arcade for a few hours....Now its more of a once and done no
Went here with my boy and it was blast from the past. He went wild over the retro toys and gaming stuff. I'm looking forward on coming back to get some arcade actionbwith him. It's cool to have a place in the city like this. I'm able to spend time with my kid and enjoy the stuff we both love.
Awesome friendly service! Great and Knowledgeable employee with the beard and gauges helped me out! Awesome Arcade Games you can play for 5 dollars for the day!
It was the closest thing to having a time machine and traveling back in time to when arcades were the place to be, first you enter a really cool shop that has almost anything that you can think of related to Anime and if they don't they have it, they can help with suggestions and recommendations where to get it. Then you enter the arcade after paying a day fare, you play all the games, unlimited, no tokens required; I got lost playing Mortal Kombat, then the Simpsons, then Pacman, then area 51, then Tekken,
I went to The Flux on a whim looking for some classic games. JD, the gentleman at the register, asked how he could help. I explained to him what I was looking for and he mentioned that they didn't have any copies, but made the effort of reaching out to other collectors and found not 1 but all 3 rare games I was looking for and for a good, reasonable, price. JD wasn't pushy or rude about purchasing them (something I've encountered when just asking for prices or availability at other places with other sellers
Most of the arcade machines don't work.
Took my son today had a great time, clean place, staff was very friendly and a lot of arcade games for $5 all you can play, overall great experience ??
First was quoted at 2 dollars through facebook to get a disc resurfaced. When I get to the store the price has now gone up to 2.99. Got a disc resurfaced it did not work. Took it back they did it again, still not working. Before I had them do the resurfacing I asked if it was guaranteed to work, they said yes. Now they refuse to refund my money. Won't be bringing my trade ins here or frequenting this place any longer. Had done 10 plus trades with them over the years and went to their arcade several times,
They have a small variety of everything. Jack-of-all-trades but master of none sort of situation with their location in McAllen. I haven't checked out their big store in Harlingen. Their arcade selection is good. Can be a tight squeeze during busy days but still a fun ambience.
Awesome place!!!!! Super fun and a super cool collection of items from tons of different genres. The staff is super nice and helpful and really make you feel welcomed. There is a retro arcade in the back that is great to take the kids or to go on a fun date!
This arcade is the best arcade I've ever been to not only does it have comic classics, good figures and bobble heads, good games but the workers are good and I even bought my own comics like Spiderman Iorn man and The Incredibal Hulk.
Amazing place with a great variety of arcade, comic books, and figurines for any ethisathic collectors needs. Highly recommend visiting the place and trying some of their arcade machines for only $5 for the day topped off with some affordable snacks to chow down on while you are there.
Great selection of comic, arcade and anime figures with comics as well. They have an arcade attached too! Customer service was really nice! Prices are affordable along with some higher end figures and collectibles! Awesome store! Thank you!
Very fun place, brings a lot of nostalgia!
They sell lots of cool stuff. Some of the machines were out of comission when i went, but most of them were working great. Best arcade experience of my life.
Bad employees gave me attitude and keep staring and asking if I was going to purchase something or just hang around, very uncomfortable environment they also sold me something that wasn't functional and tried to charge me a fee to put it back on shelf. Scam artists
This place is great! My kids had a blast. I remember the arcade games from way back when I was a kid. Customer service is excellent and employee was very patient and kind! Great business!!
Pretty neat place, friendly worker at the counter. Only complaint was some of the arcades could use some work. Other than that great place to take your friends and relive some great classics and modern games too
Staff is friendly and you can find awesome merchandise. A cool place just to hang out or play some old school arcade games. Love it!
This is a amazing store that people need to check out. They have a lot of retro games for almost all consoles, comics new and old, an arcade in the back, and anime merch. Overall, best place to shop for memorabilia on games or comics.
Where are my games!!!??? I dropped off some games to get resurfaced and after waiting a week as instructed I returned to pick up my games and there was no answer for curbside. So where are my games. I dropped off over 100 dollars worth of games and paid for the service but nada zip. Goes to show what you get from supporting a local business. AFTER contacting their Facebook page my message was opened and went unresponsive to. No answer to to any phone calls. I want my property back. I've been very patie
For $5 you can play arcade video games all day...leave and come back. They play loud music there which I like. Plus they have lots of comics, snacks, etc Cool place
Lady sells broken Sonny angels and did not tell us that there was no refunds or exchanges. Don't waste your time there.
Great place but too few arcades machines but well im more of a shooter arcade style just the house of the dead and the jurasic park, didnt work, also both just have single player couldnt play with friends
I am disappointed that I purchased a DS Lite from The Flux yesterday because when I got home I noticed there was no audio from the console. Fortunately, The Flux was able to honor their return policy. The staff is great regardless.
This is a great game store for Nostalgia. I miss the days of Game Crazy but this is a great alternative to it. Now that the Flux is relocating where the old Gamestop store was on 10th street next to Applebee's and across from Peppers ?? They are now going to be located next door to where I live. I shopped at Gamestop at that location for nearly 20 years now the Flux will take its place.
Cool concept, nice toy store, a lot of great nostalgic toys. But the arcade needs a lot of work, theres lots of arcade machines but half of them are not in service and from the ones that are on most of them have issues with the controls.
The place is really cool. However some of arcades don't work. The place also sells cool stuff and I wish someday there'll be new arcade to replace the broken arcades
Amazing place i was there a few months ago and the arcade was amazing i also liked the music awesome atmosphere and great attitude it was the best although a few machines did not work i honestly hope you guys can fix them but a 30 out of 10 great place i liked it alot
If your into 80?s arcades you will love it here. They have an 80?s style arcade with a respectable amount of arcades in the back. Do check out.
Recently treated the kitchen staff to an evening at the flux after work. #wherethefluxyouat pacman. Jurassic Park. House of the Dead. Time Pilot. Street Fighter. Raiden. Galaga. Five bucks couldn't have been better spent. Third time out. Crew loved it. A lil friendly competition never hurt anybody right? Great way to bond after the day to day grind, laughed a lot and had a good time. Ahem... On a personal note, "LUK" on time Pilot? I beat your highscore.... 1st and 3rd place, that's me, "CH
Some of the games were out of order. Some appeared to be working but found out that they weren't. Good atmosphere and brings back lots of memories from my childhood.
Friendly atmosphere, friendly service. Strongly recommend visiting for nostalgic purposes. 5 bucks gets you unlimited use of the arcade they have.
This place has the potential to be amazing. Tons of nostalgia. I have gone three times now and every time I leave wishing more of the machines worked. Still had fun. But wish there was more.
Love this place $5 arcade all you can play The only is that is too hot inside the arcade, the original one had really good a/c
I love the retro stuff they have in there, they have some old arcade games in the back they have some figures including some old figures that aren't even made anymore, alot of rare stuff. Of course they also have some modern stuff in there!
??SCAMMERS! ??Before you buy a figure don't go here ! Worker named JD scammed me with a WISH figure!! Figure is worth 20 yet I paid over 100!! Told the manager and he only gave me 50 store credit !! Unbelievable!
Good place for the comic book lovers and old skool arcaders. They have different types of action figures, comic books, games( game boy, Nintendo, xbox, ps etc). In the back are arcade games .
Great selection of arcade games and great atmosphere. Well organized comics and collectibles.
Love the free gaming for basically $5 small but spend hours in there gaming really nice funny helpful workers can't wait to come again
Good arcade, course many of the machines are older so not all of them work perfecty, but a good place to have fun for dirt cheap.
Bought a PSP hand held console and it turned on at the counter, took it home and it died so put in the charger they gave me and it didn't go in all the way so took it back the same day for a refund for the broken product they sold me and they charged me the 30 percent fee for the return.
Love the vibe here! The employees are so sweet , talkative and welcoming ?? they always let me know about any promotions or events. ??
Great for arcade, not as great for comics ?? Edit: Asked in store and person on duty said everything was out ??
Did a qik visit see whats up. Pretty cool! Not alot of merch, but the arcade and 80s 90s music make up for it!
I usually hit here for Pokemon cards which they have a massive variety of singles from e card sets to up to date. Ngl I love it here so much ^^
Very great experience to re live your child hood arcades always will be a supporter of this place
I love this place, but every time I go has less working arcades.
Great for all your classics and retro needs. They also have an arcade in the back.
Awesome place to hang out & play games. Love the OG figs and games!! Lost myself for hours jus to playing arcades!!
Good place with lots of arcades. Small for the amount of people that gather to play but still a good place.
Cute little place! Arcades are nice but some of the controls didn't work too well. :(
I liked it!!! Would be perfect if controler sticks respond better... but overall really good. Definetely will go back.
Great place, loved the arcade and the vibe of the place is kinda 80's but would recommend and go again
First time going was in 2018 still a great place idk y ppl acting wack by putting 1 star on y'all perfect kingdom for gamers and collectors
Very cute, retro vibe. Have collectibles, games, an actual arcade in the back. My kids enjoyed it.
I love the vibe and atmosphere of it
Great staff called them for a quick question. Over a collectable unrelated to there store and they were still happy to help great customer service
Haven't been there in a year, had some good arcades but still some the same ones that were broken or not working from when I was there a year ago.
Horrible customer service and return policy. Don't recommend spending your time and money here.
Great place, awesome arcade setup and variety and lots of great stuff
Terrible place. Waste of time
Great selection of old games and comics and collectibles. Arcade is fun at good price.
Everything is awesome old games and arcades the only down part is at night by 10 pm creepy people come out
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
