Customer Reviews

This is not my first visit. We've been here before and I do not recall most of the activities being out of order. The bartender Spencer was AMAZING! He was super friendly and it was a pleasure chit chatting with him. On another note, y?all need to fix the broken items. This place is not super cheap for things to be broken. IJS ???????

October 2023 - The Shangri-La activity park is a really fabulous addition to the Shangri-La resort which is spectacular in its own right. Wish we'd had more time to spend here as there is an abundance of things to do. Familiar with Shangri-La Estates as family downsized to a co-op here from homes in Oklahoma City and on Grand Lake before moving to AZ after some years, I already knew how special this area is at the base of Monkey Island. Our innkeeper down the road told us we had to go see it while we were

We loved hanging out here on our recent visit to Monkey Island!! Tried VR games for the first time, enjoyed all the arcade games, bar area, and patio. We enjoyed walking all over the grounds - it's a beautiful facility all around with something to offer EVERYONE!!!

Caleb was working when we came in and he was a pleasure to talk to. He was absolutely amazing and one of the best bartenders I have met on monkey island

Nice looking place and friendly bartenders but that's the end of the positives. Some new management company has taken over and jacked the prices way up. You can buy 0.50 worth of frozen food for $20. They have football games on tv and pack the place and only staff one bartender. The poor bartenders try to keep up but it's super slow because of management. Then they just randomly close the kitchen before halftime at 4 in the afternoon during an Oklahoma game. But don't worry you only pay about $3,000 a year

I'm not biased here, but Anchor has the best pizza on the island and surrounding area.

Please update your Fall hours. Google reflects that you are open. We drove a distance to visit, only to find that you don't open until 4:00.

Over half of the games are broken, shut down or not working. Disappointed

Horrible experience at the anchor. I took my kids for my birthday to have some fun with my husband and I. We where told the zombie game was amazing. So we went to try it out? it glitched on my kids they didn't get any credit back after playing three different games to try and see if it was just the zombie game. At $8 a pop and 3 people having problems for 3 different games, they didn't offer us credits for other games. Very disappointed Update called to speak with manager about my experience. She said dire

Everyone who works here is incredibly angry. I ts been this way since I've been coming here for the last 3 years. They all complain that they're overworked and understaffed. They're not just mad, they're cussing mad. Idk how they fix this problem, but I'm not coming back until they do.

We've visited The Anchor frequently. The location and environment is perfect for Monkey Islanders traveling via golf cart. Unfortunately the food bar there has been sub par. Every time we've chosen to dine there our orders have been incorrect. When we bring it to the attention of the counter staff we receive annoyed responses. The food was always good so the poor service was overlooked. Tonight the food was terrible, and that's a kind description. I ordered the NY Dog (brown mustard and kraut) and it had an

Food was very good. My only concern was my wife ordered a salad and it was extremely small. I'd rather pay more and walk away full then have a small salad. I ordered a pork pizza and it was amazing. We will be back. Opening a new restaurant is always hard and a learning curve. I own two restaurants by the way. I wish them luck. What a beautiful place they have. Though

Great facility. Games are affordable. Food is very good. Sports complex is top notch and a blast! Spring break lines were not a problem despite being packed!

Fun for the whole family! We walked in for the first time and saw grandparents and grandchildren playing arcade games right next to one another. Lots of laughter, tons of fun and memories to last a lifetime.

Arcade, Golf Simulator, Wiffle Ball, Pickle Ball, Basketball, full bar and so much more! Truly enjoyed this area for our company event!

Lots of fun. Kin of like a Dave and busters experience. Ping pong, pool, basketball, wiffle ball, tennis. Right on the Lake. Only place to get Starbucks within 70 miles

Pretty awesome place with plenty of brand new courts, games, patio, arcade, bar and all things hospitality with a friendly and attentive staff. Enjoy! Bring the kids?or don't!

Great service, drinks and atmosphere! Awesome space for all ages. We will come back for future visits to the lake.

Fun place for whole family, arcade games,vr games, whiffle ball, tennis, basketball, darts, ping pong, hours of fun, super friendly staff

Great place for kids.

My family absolutely loved the environment and games. Tale out a small loan for less than great food.

Too busy to serve customers? Hire better employees instead of teens.

There are a lot of activities for the whole family to do.

Food was terrible cooking was slow and customer service sucked me personally I would not come back again and I live five minutes away

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
