The Alley

Reviews Summary

The Alley receives mixed reviews, with many praising its fun atmosphere, diverse activities (bowling, arcade, pool), and excellent service from staff like bartenders and managers. Positive experiences highlight great food, family-friendly environment, and well-maintained facilities. However, negative reviews cite poor management, overpricing, long wait times, inconsistent service, and issues with lane/table availability due to league nights. Some complain about food quality, lack of vegan options, and cold meals. While many enjoy returning, others express frustration with pricing, waitlist mismanagement, and staff behavior, leading some to prefer alternatives.

Customer Reviews

The Alley has it all bowling, arcades, billiards, and darts! Super fun for families or a night out with friends. Great atmosphere, clean space, and something for everyone to enjoy!

We are on an out of state field trip with about 90 junior high kids and 30 chaperones. We had a blast! Kids fed, games played and nothing but fun. The staff was helpful and attentive. Special thanks to the manager Michelle. She was the best hostess and really went way above my expectations. ??

We had a blast here! The front desk lady was kind and helpful! We went bowling as a party of three and were able to play 2 rounds for the hour! They serve food, drinks and alcoholic beverages. They also have eleven 8-foot billiard tables, 3 dart boards, 2 tabletop shuffle boards, board games and an arcade!

We did not have a good experience here. We were told it would be about a 40 minute wait for a lane. We were there an hour and a half and was told there was still one person ahead of us. Then they asked which number buzzer we had because there was a mix up so I'm wondering if other people were served before us. They didn't seem incredibly busy. I could look past that, maybe people were just taking their time on the lanes. What I cannot look past is the disappointing food. I ordered nachos, and these were $14

We had my son?s 6th birthday party at The Alley and it was perfect! The manager (I think her name was Michelle) was super friendly and accommodating. The service, food, drinks, bowling, arcade games, and lounge space was all great! Adults and kids had a fun time!

I greatly enjoyed my experience playing pool at The Alley. Excellent fries with my entree. Very nice bartender. Fun crowd, both young and old. Drop pocket tables that played quite nice. Very fresh draught beer on tap. Weird thing: on my way out the door, I saw the check-in person in the parking lot with what looked like an extendable police baton. He looked like a high-school-aged person, and I was concerned for his safety. I'm not sure what he was doing. Chasing vagrants away? Maybe I read that wrong, may

Our family came here for the first time to celebrate a birthday. The person with a bday is free, there is a senior discount and kids are pretty cheap too. It is a very nice, modern and clean place. The bowling alley is ligit unlike some previous alleys in SF which had a big slant. There is good beer, good food and lots of other entertainment. We were impressed by friendly service.

I enjoy going there and watch playing pool and the food is good but the prices are a little bit high

Lots to do besides bowl, they have an arcade, shuffle board, and ample pool tables we had a good time the atmosphere and staff were very nice. Price wise Tuesday is the best deal. The food looked good we didn't try it but will next time.

My family and I have been to the Alley on many occasions. We always have fun! We also had a birthday party with 21 kids. The staff was amazing assisting with food drinks and helped clean up.

Terrible management. Joey, the owner, was playing pool supposedly ?not on the clock.? I noticed that he kept pointing fingers at customers and I couldn't understand why. A waitress then came up to my table and said that dogs are not allowed in the establishment but because he was in his carrier it was okay that he stayed. I don't understand why Joey could not come talk to me directly about my dog. I totally understand that my dog wasn't allowed and I respect that. I was told that Joey was having a couple of

We booked out The Alley for several hours for a reception during a large professional conference in Santa Fe. The whole team at the venue was fantastic to work with throughout the booking process and the staff working our event that evening were great. The food we ordered exceeded our expectations and our guests enjoyed having a wide range of things to do while there. I highly recommend booking this venue for large events. We will definitely be back here again in the future.

Unfortunately, I will not be returning to The Alley. It is a darn shame that the only bowling alley in Santa Fe has now transitioned to string pins. For the same, full price. I love bowling. I love the sport. But I will probably just be taking my business to Cities of Gold for bowling moving forward. If and when The Alley transitions back to traditional pins, I will be patronizing this business again.

Fun venue! Special thanks to Amy for great service!

This place is pretty great. The bar has a nice selection and bartenders are always really nice. Michelle is always so helpful and kind. We come here very often!

Such a fun place to bowl and more! My son loves coming to the Alley in Santa Fe for bowling and video games. They also have a lot of pool tables and darts. They serve food and have a full bar. This is also a great place for a date! Every time we come to the Alley we have a blast!

Extremely nice service, the wait time is almost nothing and while you wait u have plenty of options to choose from while waiting! Great food and drinks, and very professional staff in all departments.

The Alley was pretty crappy. I believe food and drinks should be served until the closing time. Showed up at 9:20, closed at 10:00. Would not serve anything.

We arrived at 9:15pm. Employees at the front did not acknowledge the entering clients only the ones leaving. No sense of order. Once assisted, they specified that they are not able to give us a lane. We are from out of town and we saw it closed at 11pm. How could they simply say no to new business? Will not return. Would not recommend. Very poor experience.

Local's Tuesdays is fabulous, it is very affordable for a family of three. They have a good menu with staples like pizza and nachos and chicken tenders, also moderately priced. A nice variety of draft beer. Super friendly service. The arcade was a bit expensive, but it was still fun. Overall a great place for an occasional family outing.

Chairs were not very comfortable, environment seems sterile, pool is by the hr, no coin operated tables, staff was friendly and nice, who ever buys the seeting should test some for comfort

Really nice alley. Staff was super friendly. Nice lounge area and arcade. Kids loved the food to.

some of their terminals are buggy and food is as good as youd expect in a bowling alley. recommend visiting on the wednesdays and tuesdays for half off.

The Alley is fun, everyone who works here is so friendly & accommodating. We joined the one person league. It lasted 8 weeks and has been a blast. They have great food and a full bar. They are also having another 6 person league coming up this summer. There is shuffleboard, many pool tables, pinball machines & a lot of other fun games to enjoy for all ages, except the bar, of course.

Worst experience for our Christmas party. We ending eating at Del Charros after paid a lot of money?. Waitresses forgot to take our order and never mentioned anything until the kitchen was closed

Horrible place and staff ruined my mothers birthday waited for hours while there was lanes open and had to leave early because food still wasn't out

Pretty disappointed with their drink limit. I came with some friends and they cut us off at 2 drinks in 2 hours. We even ate. I frequent here every time I visit NM. That's in the past now. Also 20% tip added on a party of 4? Okay..

Fun for the family or alone. Nice place for lunch and a quick bowl too.

This is just a review of the arcade and vibe. Very nice place with beautiful pinball machines. Classy facility for bowling, not your grandpas stinky bowling alley!

The service couldn't have been nicer or better. Everyone was really kind and attentive. Beers were great. Great lanes

I love coming here! It's always a good time and the staff is great, especially Michelle! She is always very welcoming and goes above and beyond to take care of us. Thanks Michelle!

Had a blast playing pool and shuffleboard. Great facility. Drinks are a bit pricey but the experience was really fun.

Bowling, billiards, pinball and small arcade! Great for groups, families or staff parties. Full bar and food available. Clean and nice bathrooms. Easy parking.

The food is great, but we came on a slow night. There was no waitstaff. Had to order everything at the bar and pickup all our own drinks, silverware, plates, and basically wait our own table for my family. Absolutely no check in by any staff. At the end of the night, we had a 20% gratuity added to our tab. Seems like staff was trying you make up for a slow night.

I had my graduation party here and it was an amazing experience! I had booked the party room and 3 lanes for me and my guests and we had an amazing time. The party room is absolutely gorgeous, the staff were amazing and the place has so much to do! This is a great place to have a party especially if you don't want to spend too much! I would definitely go again just to bowl or play games and I would definitely have another party here!

We had the best time David was such a good server he was super attentive and gave us great recommendations for drinks and food. Definitely would come back again.

Do Not Trust This COMPANY. See below Had a company team building day here. Bowling was great. Pool tables are great. The food was awesome. All in all a great place. Clean, kid friendly. Honestly, I can't say much about the pricing. My company was paying for everything so I didn't pay attention to that. ADDENDUM, The Alley had taken my credit card for a pool table BUT ASSURED ME that the actual charges would go to the company account. Fast forward 3 weeks. I Find Out They Charge Me $85 for that pool table s

We will be coming back!!! The food is quite yummy. The bartender is efficient and not bad on the eyes. A nice way to spend an afternoon. You need to go!! Darts! Bowling!

Ridiculously expensive. People paying these prices are fools. $9 for a game of bowling? You've got to be kidding me. $16/hr for pool? Who is paying that? That's insane. It's a fraction of that in Abq and the drinks and food are less price gougy, too. The guillotines are coming.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the bowling alley, pool hall, and bar in Santa Fe, NM, and I can't say enough good things about it! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff. The bowling lanes were in fantastic condition, and the automated scoring system made the games even more enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned bowler or a casual player, this place has something for everyone. The pool hall was another highlight; the well-maintained tables and cues

First time going there and it was great, Miles had attended us the whole time we were there. He would always make sure we were still great and was speedy when we needed his help as well. Props.

We are some out of towners looking for a place to play some pool for the evening We found this place via Google What a pleasant surprise ?????? Bowling on one side and billiard on the other side You pay hourly but those tables are some of the nicest I've ever played on ???? smoothe as silk MICHELLE was so wonderful in her hospitality and helping us out personally and I complimented her on the condition of the tables and she said she'd express that to the owner as he takes pride in his tables I replayed with

So, The Alley is good when it's slow. When busy The Alley employees can't handle the traffic and it what I consider steady but not super busy. Servers and bartenders are running around like crazy. I tried to walk up to the bar and order a beer and few soft drinks. It's took a good 18-20 minutes to get drinks into my hands. The bartender is not aware of his surrounding and took an order in from a couple that were in back of the line and decided to sit at the bar. That was rude to people that have been wait

One of the only entertainment venues in town. With plenty of well maintained pool tables, you can typically find a table. This place has great bowling lanes, pool tables, and much more

Just had our kids sixth birthday party at The Alley. I want to say what a great venue it is for a birthday party. The kids loved being able to play the video games and bowl and it was perfect for pizza and drinks. Everyone working there was really accomodating and I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff and how they were always trying to please. Ally took care of us and was an exceptional communicator, always with a huge smile, was super helpful and was instrumental in making the party a huge su

Family of seven went in during the winter break. Only a 30 minute wait for one lane. We enjoyed playing $1 arcade games/basketball/air hocky during the wait. Behind the cashier, there is a sign that reads "Use your own bowling balls at your own risk." While we were paying, the cashier noticed our own balls and yelled, "why didn't you tell me you are using your own bowling balls? I stated I didn't know I was supposed to. She then explained that certain lanes may damage personal balls, and that it was a

I was visiting my hometown for the holidays. My friends took me here, and we had so much fun! There is quite a big crowd (also a large venue.) but the staff easily manages it. We did bowling, played darts, and Karaoke. I also have to note that I lost my phone which was later recovered (and returned to me.) So five stars for the customer service. I recommend beer over the mixed drinks because you get more bang for your buck.

Always a fun time. Great beer and nice ambiance.

Great food...a little pricey. Fun atmosphere for all ages

Best date night spot: ). Some super kind lady paid for everything and we got a toooon of Great Grub and many fond memories at this place : )!

The staffs very professional, we had to move tables and move presents for my nephew's birthday and they didn't even ask they just started helping. Really nice place would highly recommend.

Great for family or company events. However, the bartender confiscated the drinks of my group after stating her manager required her to, as they were "watching us on their cameras" and deemed our group to be belligerent. The bartender told us she disagreed with the decision and did not believe anyone was over-served, but we were forced to leave. If you want to play pool with your friends, go to Evangelos instead.

First time here won't be my last. Had a fantastic time celebrating my Granddaughter#9 Birthday celebration with Crash Karaoke. We had a blast Michelle T was fantastic and the alley crew and food was awesome, delicious we enjoyed every moment.. Thanks for having us ..

Worst experience I've ever had . The host was extremely rude to my 2 year old and said some derogatory remarks about him directly to my wife . Considering this place is an arcade as well you would think the staff would have some child skills . But to say disrespectful remarks about a 2 year old that is just excited to play the games is uncalled for . No respect for their patrons . Unfortunately for such an amazing place to leave such a bad taste I would not return much less host a birthday party there .

When I spend more than $50 to bowl for an hour with my family, I expect the lane to work. I spent half of my time complaining to the staff about missing pins until they finally moved us to another lane. They gave us 15 minutes on our time, but that barely makes up for the time spent talking to employees, and doesn't come close the time spent being frustrated. I'll go to Cities of Gold where it is much cheaper.

It takes forever to get help or any Service at this place, came here around 12:45 and been standing while the employees just sitting in the bowling alley. I would not recommend this place, best bet is just to travel to abq to bowl

Johnny was great! Best bartender!! Fish tacos ?? worth it!!

Been here a few times. The first couple of times went great. Bartender served us fast got a pool table quick. Went smooth. The past few times have been horrible. Idk if this place is understaffed or if the staff simply does not care. But if you want to get a beer or even get someone to place an order for you it's impossible. No one is ever at the bar to serve anyone. The servers don't acknowledge that your there even when you try to flag them down or talk to them. If you want to go to a place that does not

I was given the opportunity to meet the owners. You never met two committed people motivating a team of employees who are committed to a wonderful experience for customers. The employees are very nice pleasant I'm very cordial to you when you enter greeting you with a smile and a hello and welcome. So many wonderful things to do in a wonderful atmosphere. A great place to stop by for a snack a cold one or just to wind down from a day after work throw a bowling ball down the lane , this would be your place.

Nice facility and lots of options! Unfortunately, they do not have enough sound absorbing materials so it is very loud and noisy! They don't take reservations for lanes so there was an hour and a half wait for the bowling. We played shuffleboard. For some reason they don't let customers have the shakers for the silica sand so you have to ask an employee any time you want more sand. Also, their tables are not level. We were just playing for fun so we found the unevenness amusing but it might be frustrating f

Terrible experience from the service to the food. There is no organization on how to get service after sitting at table. The menu does not cater to vegans or vegetarians besides salad. Food is awful for the price. My party waited about 45min for food and when it was finally brought to us it was cold from sitting on the ready counter for so long. There were 2 waiters I think, not even sure about who was staff and one server was yelling at us to move out of the way when he walked by our table, apologized onl

We had family in town for my daughter's graduation. The younger cousins needed something to do. So it was a great excuse to try it out. They were busy for sure. People in line to get a lane. A little expensive but if it's working its working. My complaint is the lack of service we received twice when I looked back all the servers were standing up talking to one another. I had already asked twice for help and even just waters or menus. We got food in like our last five minutes there and instead of moving us

So awesome to have bowling back in Santa Fe. 12 very nice and well kept lanes with comfortable lounge seating. Also a billiards room with 11 pool tables. Overall a great place. Just a bit on the expensive side, otherwise it would be 5 stars. Best to get here early if you do not want to wait for a lane.

My husband and I came today around 1pm 8/10/23 for our first year anniversary! We had so much fun and really appreciated the young man at the front who helped us. we will be coming back for sure.

The Alley is a great place to go! There is a wide variety of activities to do, including bowling, play pool, darts, shuffleboard, ping pong, pinball machines, and arcade games! There's even a full menu of foods from appetizers, salads, entrees, pizzas and desserts. Additionally, cocktails, beer, and wine are available. Reservations are available for large events.

Will not be returning! They do not take reservations. As we were told the wait would be an hour, we waited an hour and a half. As people were walking in and getting a lane, we asked how much longer the wait would be. We were clearly over and the staff were not concerned. The manager did not offer any solution. Kids were extremely disappointed. Will not return- would rather travel to another town than waste time/ money waiting

Great place and good food and drinks!

So much fun for a birthday party for a group of kids. Michelle, Natalie, & Mainor took great care of our group. The kids rocked & rolled at bowling and loved the arcade.

Coming here since they opened and loved it, but?this place started as a family friendly hangout, one of my ?go-to? joints. However it's turned into a ?League? owned (bowling league and pool league) playground. You wanna bowl for your birthday? TOO BAD! League night they own all the lanes (even if they aren't using them). Oh what's that?you just got off work and wanna play some pool with your buds? NOPE, go kick rocks, League night baby its their tables (any tables left over are taken up by their kids) Owner

I remember bowling costing a lot less money, but the experience was well worth their priceyness. The staff was friendly. The food is great. The cost is prohibitive to making bowling a regularly scheduled activity, but more as a splurge for a good time. It's too bad, though; If it were cheaper, I would definitely patron The Alley more frequently.

Expensive they charge 16 per hour per person. The old ally was 20 for an hour with as many people as you wanted I don't want to go back. I have my own shoes

Management reached out and made me feel heard. I appreciate the follow-up. We will definitely be returning. Thank you

Took the kiddos, to bowl we had an amazing time. Tbh we only had water. We ate prior to going but the menu is pricey. I felt bowling was fairly priced had an hour with 5 of us. An hour was enough time. We will definitely go again!

I've been looking at the negative comments, and holy $h!t do people have high expectations for a bowling alley! They seem to want fine dining and an assigned personal assistant, and they want it for less than $10. Look, we have a bowling alley again! Yes, sometimes the lanes malfunction, but we have a bowling alley! Yeah, the pool tables aren't the best, but they're not horrible and they're fun (unlike other tables in town that have been shuttered due to COVID)! Lot of comments about bad service, even

I would give zero stars if it was an option! After calling and asking to book a lane, they said they are walk in base only. They stated to come in, it would be an hour wait. We arrived within 30 mins and was told once again it would be an hour. After waiting an hour and a half we ask how much longer it would be. As people paid and received a lane immediately. We were than told it would be about another "30 mins maybe" at that point the manager over heard. We got an "oh sorry." We decided to leave (we had o

The managers here are shady and will steal tips from their hardworking servers and bartenders while hiding in their offices to avoid doing any work. I've witnessed them fire several good employees just because they spoke out about how poorly they were being treated. Also, it's overpriced for no reason whatsoever.

Not just a bowling alley but more of a family fun center. Many fun things to do in addition to bowling there is shufffle board and a huge amount of a games to play including pinball. There is a bar in the back for some adult fun too. Snack bar too!

Played on one of the 6 pool tables. Tables, balls and stick are in great shape. Nice atmosphere.

The front desk was very friendly and she was doing amazing work! The bar was very busy but managed to help me get my food. Although the food was amazing a little overpriced but worth it. Lanes were clean and had a great time with the kids!

I have been coming back since it has opened. The games are reasonably priced and fun. The pinball has four machines and they have kept them working. There is bowling, pool, shuffleboard, an air hockey table, video race games, basketball. There is a kitchen that serves excellent food from scallops to hamburgers. Very upscale. And the full bar serves craft brews on tap. I always have fun. Really a joy for the family or if you just want to get out some aggression on a pinball machine for a quick game. Service

If you are on the more serious side of bowling, this is not the place for you. It's more like a lounge with some lanes rather than a bowling alley with a lounge feel. The lanes didn't have a drop of oil on them so controlling the ball in any fashion was impossible. PRICING...I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around charging TIME/PER PERSON. With this payment structure, you are getting punished for having a larger group. Not only does it cost more money as a larger group, you get less bowling per per

Great staff. Great food. Lots of entertainment for everyone

If you're looking for fun place to bring your family or a laid back place with great drinks to play pool, look no further. The Alley is gonna be your new favorite spot ??

My nine year old daughter went on a play date with a friend and her mother today. On one of her balls she accidentally threw it too hard and somehow broke the bumper. The bowling alleys response was totally ridiculous, with the manger yelling at my 9 year old, berating her and kicking my daughter, her friend and her mother off the alley a half hour early without a refund. This bowling ally is already ridiculously over priced and mismanaged. I have never had an experience there in which time has not been lo

This is a nice alley with food, beer, games. But the floor needs to be cleaned more because the playing area was slicker than usual, and I got athlete?s hand from the ball. Had to wash my hands twice because they looked like the hands of a coal miner! Still a great place though!

Management always treats me well and polite as well as the owner and Mitchell T

Staff members in front decided not to give us a lane at 8 pm when they close at 10 . The lanes where open and no people where pleading at the time . If I could give 0 starts I would specially being in a birthday in such situation makes it worse.

The City's of Gold bowling alley is worth the drive. I've been here on four separate occasions. The first time, I came on a Friday night at 8pm and was told there would be a 40 minute wait, so I decided to leave and go do something else. The second time, I came on a Saturday night at 10pm and was able to bowl immediately. I had a great time despite the lane malfunctioning a couple of times. The third time, I came on a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm and was told that there would be a 30 minute wait. The wait was a

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
