Always a good time. They keep this place well-maintained; machines are consistently functional/no tokens lost. Drinks and vibe are great!
I'm not sure how in the midst of the city where it may not be the "best" of neighborhoods these guys keep this place functioning well but they do. Well worth a visit
This place is an absolute blast! The arcade games are a total nostalgia trip, the drinks are on point, and the customer service? Next level. Seriously, every staff member we interacted with was super friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about creating a fun vibe. I have to laugh though?they do not play around when it comes to following the rules. IDs? Checked like three times. I joked with my friends that we were entering a secure facility, not an arcade bar ?? But honestly, I respect it. They're just
I must admit this location is wayyyy better than Lodo. Perfect adult first date or 1000th date lol. There's way more options to play different game than the other location. Although, I still like lodo to get away from clubbing or just going to a bar dt.
Old school arcade with bar and limited food options with ice cream truck treats. Booth area for seated dining/drinking happy hour specials
I wish I could have taken pictures, I was with my friend to have a good time and have some fun and spend money, but they said my "foreign" ID was not acceptable even though Colorado Law says it is. Its funny it was acceptable enough for Utah but not for Colorado. Poor staff, untrained staff, They just wanted to ask for my passport. I'd give them 0 stars if I could.
My friend and I had a terrific time at 1UP Arcade Bar!! They have great drink options and so many games to choose from! The bartenders were amazing and so helpful to my friend and i. Also the bathrooms are super clean and they are also gender neutral. I had so much fun here!
This place is Amazing! New staff and they treat the customers great! Christian, Will, and Crystal are Amazing! They are nice and the drinks are amazing. The atmosphere is great , plenty of games for cheap, and the drinks are phenomenal. If you come to Denver, you must come here! The staff are excelente ??
Can't blame them much for the food rating as I think they outsource the pizza then put it on their heat rack, but of all the barcades out there, this is my least favorite one. The place is just simply unclean. Like people don't clean up enough post-shift, which can be done at any time during the day and night. It's uncool to have your own little Chuck E. Cheese quarters instead of real ones as a main way to incentivize people to return. They don't care if machines eat your tokens. I do think there's an incl
Walked in with a family member on a Sunday afternoon (8/27/23) so it wasn't too crowded. We sat at the bar and ordered draft beers to sit and catch up. After about 3 beers and half an hour of talking we hit the machines! So many nostalgic games to choose from that immediately brought me back to growing up with these games! The one negative drawback was at the pinball machines, two guys added there money to The Mandalorian pinball machine and I was walked up to take a few pics for my review they immediately
I had a few hours to kill before a train ride so I jumped on a scooter and found this hangout. All of the favorites of my childhood were there in addition to new attractions such as pinball machines modeled from modern intellectual property. The cost was a little expensive. I bought a non-alcoholic drink and it set me back five dollars. The pinball machines can be up to a dollar per play. That being said, the ten dollars that I spent while I was there made it a nice way to spend the afternoon.
The pin ball selection here is exquisite. There were some of my childhood favorites. The South Park themed pinball machine was at the laundromat my family went to growing up. There were so many good times playing that machine and I was delighted to find it here. I enjoyed a lot of the vintage arcade games. I would 10/10 go back, I just wish we had one closer to home in eastern Kansas.
The bartenders are super friendly, games are great, and while I've generally had a great time here, one of the "bouncers" was incredibly rude and ordered me to leave while I was trying to request my card back (after leaving preemptively without it) and attempting to tip our bartender. Sounds crazy right? Read the other 1-2 stars reviews on the bouncers/guards though! Definitely would recommend the spot off Blake St, or the Greenwood Village location for folks looking for a good time, completely unreasonabl
Great time, friendly atmosphere. We had a really fun time here and will definitely be back. So many of the games I miss and love. Tapper, Rampage, Skeeball. Really a great place.
I'm a regular at this location (I come almost every week) so I want to give it 5 stars because it's super fun + I enjoy coming, but I can't get over an experience I had when trying to bring a friend in. The friend in question is in his mid 40s and visiting from the UK. Because their ID scanner couldn't scan his completely valid ID because it wasn't a US ID, they still denied him entry. Pretty absurd to turn away a man in his mid 40s who is clearly of age to drink, with a completely valid ID and not make any
So fun!!!! We had an extra hour to kill in between date night reservations and this place was amazing. We had so much fun playing with some old favorite games. It was nice to laugh. Don't worry about bringing cash, grab $20 bags at the bar with your drink or use one of the machines. Be prepared to wait for favorite classics.
Everyone here is sooooooo freaking nice and welcoming !!!!!! My friend and I came to play games and celebrate my birthday! The shots are a reasonable price, the pickles taste sooo good and the games and vibes are top tier!!!!!! Janelle is an amazing bartender and Zach was a pleasure as well !!!!! Will was also amazing! So nice and added to the great energy!!!!! Definitely recommend this location
Truly an awesome arcade bar. They have all of the classics that you'd want to play, and duplicates of many classic games you're undoubtedly terrible at. Tons of skee ball and more pinball machines than any one person could handle. The machines are pretty cheap and pizza is good. Go spend all of your money. Play Tapper.
Pretty great bar! Drinks were reasonably priced and had plenty of arcade style games. Games run off tokens so bring cash for the coin exchange if you had intent on playing.
Pretty fun spot and the bartenders are awesome, but the management needs to turn down the heater more often. I feel bad for the poor employees that must just be cooking in there. Felt like a sauna!
Love the old school retro feel. Games are $.50 pinball machines are $1.00 they got change machines and ATMs if you got time to kill definatly a good visit. Good jukebox was digging the environment everyone friendly.
Great atmosphere. Fun arcade. Bartenders are a little rude but I get it , it's Colfax and you deal with a bunch of drunken crazy people. They also have pizza .
This place was fun but the bartenders were SO unnecessarily rude. Literally all of them had a chip on their shoulder and it took like 20 minutes (with hardly any people at the bar) to even get an "I'll be right with you." Took some friends here from out of town and felt bad that they had to deal with the negative vibes from staff just to get a beer. Just have an automated margarita or cocktail machine at that point lol
Love love love this bar and arcade! It's seriously the best thing for adults to do! Finally a place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for gaming. Me and my BF go and never spend more than $20 on games! It's amazing! Plus, their drinks are some of the best prices in town. This place does it right! It's definitely one of our go to hang out places now. Plus, I like this one better than the one in LoDo...I think they have more games at this one!
Cool place, especially for date nights. Drinks are a bit overpriced if you ask me, but they have guitar hero so that's pretty rad. Barcades are a bit overrated imo but as far as they go, this is a pretty cool one
Cool place. Seeing all the older games they have brought back a lot of memories. The happy hour I went to last Monday was pretty good and the bartender Janine was very sweet. Definitely some place to checkout.
1UP has always been a favorite but this location put a bad taste in our mouth. A couple friends and I were going to meet up here last night. We drove specifically to this location as it's our halfway point but weren't let in cause they supposedly don't take Mexican consular IDs. It's frustrating since this is the only location that we've had issues with. The manager and security guard told us that the other locations shouldn't accept it either, but this is a recognized ID at every night club and bar that we
The 1-up has always been one, nay is say my favorite bar and hangout spots to go to. If you want good vibes, great drink specials, pinball, skeeball, basketball, and of course tons and tons of nostalgic retro arcade games, than this is the place for you. Awesome bar and lots of video games for the newbies and us vets lol super cool and friendly staff and great management!!! Most definitely a 5 out of 5 stars!!!
I love this place. I had a blast playing the old school video games, and they weren't expensive. The drinks were great and inexpensive. I would say they should have Wipes available to wipe the machines from germs
Seemed to be very popular, was definitely crowded when I went. Paid $11 for two well drinks and you could taste how cheap the liquor was. However, security walked the rooms and made sure things were safe and clean. All the games were functional, bathrooms had neat decorations and were pretty clean. Might try to go again on a less busy day.
I usually enjoy this location, but last night was miserable. I understand waiting for a drink, but making eye contact with the bartender who ignores you and your friend for almost 10 minutes when the bar isn't totally full, and then serves someone who sits down after you is just being objectively bad at your job. Went to play giant Pac-Man and the bouncer took away a wet floor sign telling me it was all cleared up, but the floor happened to be so sticky that I lifted up a floorboard when trying to walk aw
It's a really cool place where you can have a good time enjoying a good drink and remembering your favorite video games.
An arcade that won't allow minors, makes a lot of sense ??. Then the trashy door guy proceeded to talk smack about me wanting to bring my kid there while we stood outside waiting for an uber. Not a good business, worse employees.
I LOVED this arcade/bar. It was so much fun. Lots of modern and old school games. The staff could work on their attentiveness and friendliness but because it was so much fun, I was willing to let the bad interaction at the bar go.
They have pizza, didn't have any. Lots of drinks and arcade games. Nostalgia from it all. They took care of me on my stay in Denver. Wish I could spend more time here. Tipped well.
This place is the ultimate playground for adults. I got overwhelmed by so many games I could play, but definitely tried to play them all. The amount per game is reasonable and varies. They have old to new games. The bar area is nice. I wish I would have got her name but the bartender was great. They had a sign with promoted drinks, and I tried the White Tea shot! It was soooooo good and went down so smooth I had several! I didn't get to try any food, but I did enjoy my time here.
Most fun I've ever had in a bar! There are old games and more modern ones. We tried our hand at the White Claw claw, but my friends and I mostly stuck with skee ball! I also thought the stickers on the pizza warmer were hilarious hahaha. I wish they'd build a bar like this in my city, 10/10 would visit again.
1UP Arcade Bar has a well-curated collection of some of the GOAT arcade cabinets in the mainstream collective memory. The Simpsons, NFL Blitz '99, NBA Jam Tournament Edition, Alien vs. Predator, House of the Dead, and it has some newer cabinets that aren't as common but are nonetheless welcome options - DARIUSBURST: Another Chronicle comes to mind. I was only to visit for a little bit, but there was also an impressive array of pinball tables, skee ball booths, and basketball booths to round out that classi
Honestly would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the dude up front. He gave us a very condescending rude attitude from the start. The music is honestly trash too but there's an option to pay for music to be played. They also closed a hour before google said they would. Not that big of a deal but the same dude from up front had an attitude about it. Nonetheless we had a good time. The bartender was really nice! She was helpful and sweet. Although the drinks are overpriced unless you come during
This place is the "barcade" concept flawlessly executed. Incredible range of games all functioning and beautifully-maintained, including nearly 50 pinball machines which looked like they had all been cleaned and shopped that morning. Games are all reasonably priced (e.g. - $.50 pinball across the board), drinks were totally reasonable, staff is friendly and decor is super thematic without being cheesy. Look for lots of "small touches" in the decor that really further the concept. Another pinball paradis
Bartenders here are great, however some of the male security here are awful. I literally got assaulted a couple months ago by one of them. Had several minutes left to finish a short gin and tonic. He got in my face, grabbed my arm in a very aggressive way, and ripped it out of my hand. While I have SEVERAL minutes left. Didn't act that way to any of the men standing at the bar. Definitely singled me out cause I was female. I literally had never even seen this security dude before, and used to go here twice
This is a really cool bar. The outside is a little sketchy looking and it took us a minute to figure out where the entrance was. The inside is filled with many pinball machines and old arcade games (Tetris, Mario, donkey Kong, ski ball, etc.). The games are all working well and the whole place is extremely clean. There are two bars to get drinks at and booths to sit in. They have an ATM machine and a chance machine. All of the games accept quarters only and range in price from $0.25 to $1.00.
Pinball is a joke, you lose your balls in seconds, all the posts are either removed or set on the biggest opening to lose ball. Came for the pinball and left very mad!!!! They just want money!!!
When I think of a good arcade bar, I think of 1up. I love to look for places like this in major cities but I cannot seem to find one better. They have practically all the games you would want and then some you did not even know existed. From Simpsons, to Mortal Kombat to Contra to Michael Jackson, I could spend all my money here. Great Place
The reviews about some of the staff being rude are definitely accurate. I've been coming here for 10 years. That being said, I still come for the games. But the owners are losing money because of some of the staff. They should really do something and get rid of the portion of the staff who don't belong in the service industry. I just mostly ignore them, quickly order a drink and then go play games and it's fine. But don't expect a smile from most of them and the bouncers are definitely rude and unreasonable
If I weren't too drunk to remember for sure I bet I'd say it's a great bar! ??
Nice arcade. All the games were in good working order. Large selection of games. Good variety of drinks at the bar. This location could use some food. The games are priced right. Lots of retro games, it's a good time, will visit again. Everything is clean, staff are nice.
The adult arcade is my little slice of heaven on earth... the slushpuppy is not bad with the adult twist... dangerously tastee
This was the finest barcade i have EVER seen...the #pinball options and #arcade cabinets were not only a solid collection of well tended 90s and 2000s tables but also those that just debuted in the Pinball Festival a couple days ago, including Munsters AND Beatles. Wikked cool.
A great barcade with an amazing selection. I love places like this. The beers are cold, and cheap. The arcade options are vast. Plenty of pinball, oldschool, and modern new arcades, all playable for 25 cents a credit. I know some barcades are free, but when you see the selection they have, you understand why it's worth paying the modest fee. Bartenders were friendly as well. Would definitely go back.
This place is the absolute best! Amazing selection of games and the staff are the best people in the world
While they do have a nice selection of classic video and new pinball games to play due to their aggressive and intimating security staft I experienced wouldn't recommend. Dave still stinks. Update: After my bad experience a couple of years ago I found myself down in Denver and visiting again cause I can't say no to being around vintage arcade and pinball games. The entire staff was welcoming and enjoyed my time there so changed my rating.
Always a fun time at 1Up Arcade. There's so many different types of games that are all super fun. Think more bar with arcade than arcade with a bar like Dave & Busters. This place is a great time no matter what day of the week you go and they'll do specials like $3 wells and $1 mimosas. I highly recommend for a date, night out with friends, etc.
I was looking to organize an event for a large group, and Nina reached out and helped get me in contact with management to make it happen. We had more than 50 people show up and the staff handled it with ease and smiles. Everyone had a great time and I'd definitely recommend it for a fun night out!
Good atmosphere, would recommend coming during the weekdays as weekends tend to be blown out. Their drink menus are moderately priced. Tons of games to choose from. Love their pinball collection.
Went for a friends birthday. One of the racing games didn't connect with the other games, the skew ball area had stick floors as well as the balls. There was one bar tender for a Saturday night, and she didn't seem excited to be there. Would have stayed a little longer if I could have gotten a drink of some kind.
I love the vibeshere I literally live 12 minutes away walking distance my fav hangouts spots
We had a great time here! Awesome games and good drinks.
Fun experience. Vintage pinball, and arcade games. Cool atmosphere and fun people.
This place is awesome, I'm from Maryland and I have a Maryland ID and I have no problem with the bouncers, the reviews about people getting their ID taken are so stupid and almost scared us from going but I'm glad we didn't listen to them The security was friendly to us and we had no issues so management must have listened to the complaints. The lineup of pinball machines here is insane, they make you use tokens instead of coins to I would suggest going $20 at a time because the tokens are non refundable.
The 1up Arcade in Denver offers an immersive retro gaming experience that delights both nostalgia seekers and casual gamers alike. With an extensive collection of classic arcade games and pinball machines, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is lively, with neon lights and upbeat music adding to the excitement. The bar serves a variety of drinks, including craft beers and inventive cocktails, enhancing the social aspect of the venue. While the arcade can get crowded during peak hours, the staff i
I am a 34 year old tourist from the UK. Arrived on the early evening (approx 5pm) on the 15th of September. Met at the door and asked for id, which is fine but her manner was quite rude for no obvious reason. Offered UK driving license to be told need a passport. This is no where on the website so would advise to update that, though maybe you just don't want tourists... unsure. Personally find it uncomfortable to carry a document as important as a passport when I am drinking. Obviously, I did not return on
Justin and Michelle were the best bartenders for MAR10 day. I had a blast and got plastered on stem cider
Garbage service from both bartenders who worked September 27th around 4pm. Skip past you when you're waiting for a drink. My girlfriend and I sat for a while and had to literally wave arms to gain attention. There were like 4 others at the bar top. Then, when I tried to close out, the female bartender looked me in the eyes 3+ times and walked by me until I had to reach an arm out, very embarrassing I had to do that, in order to gain attention so I can close my tab and give them a solid tip. She was very rud
This was such an awesome experience. Beer, sports, and arcade games!!!! Definitely loved going here.
It's a dive bar with arcade games! Bring your quarters or get change there! You'll have fun. They have plenty of games.
Super fun place to hit for either a weekend night out, or when you're just bored on a Tuesday afternoon. The place is huge and there's something for everyone. Also, the $20 bag of coins you get actually goes far, unlike a lot of places with arcade games where $20 lasts you about 5 minutes. We love you 1up!
This places atmosphere is so cool, the huge selection of pinball machines was worth it on its own! The drinks I got were the Donkey Punch which was a fantastic Red Bull drink, and The Princess peach drink which was alright. The prices for the drinks were a bit high but we took the time at the bar to also get their $20 coin bags for the arcade machines. The Time Crisis 5 machine was an absolute blast to go through with a buddy! Overall this was a fantastic bar!
This brought back such nostalgia. I had an absolute blast. Plus slush puppies! Nothing like pure sugar in a cup
Awesome selection of games, best pinball selection in town. Always swapping out tables for new and different ones
This place is so awesome, so many excellent arcade games and pinball machines both new and retro. Lots of drinks and snacks to choose from as well.
The perfect place to get drunk and re-live some childhood memories. Loud, lively, fun.
Awesome bar-cade with plenty of the classics that you want to play. Awesome drink deals every weeknight. I had $2 Tecates all night on Tuesday.
pinball machines....lots of em.....Pulp Fiction and Sopranos are staples...others rotate from the other location so always something new!
Must have American ID to enter. PBR tall boys are cheap, everything else expensive. Lots of fun people and regulars playing games. Pinball is more expensive now in 2022 post covid. 2 dollars for 3 plays is the way to go. If you come early you can usually find machines loaded with credits and you can play some arcade cabinets for free. Lots of good games, the 4 player Mario kart is hard to steer you have to drift., Most everything works though. Cross the street for some pizza (buff chicken or stuffed slice)
Great arcade bar. Tons of pinball. Good drinks and nice staff. No complaints from me; everything seemed pretty well maintained and staff were responsive if a game had issues. 9.5/10 - there could've been DDR as wrll
My first time at the 1up included several old school video games. One moment was more important to me personally. Growing up I would ask to check out the local arcade to play Mortal Kombat. A kid my age would be usually playing the game. We would get to know each other and become best friends. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago, and playing that arcade game brought back a lot of memories. On a more positive note, I did check out the AC/DC pinball game and started to make plans with my dad to check them
Came across this gem by accident as i was walking down Colfax. What a pinball selection! My god, my hometown does not compete...??
I love how you can tip and pay for drinks with tokens! Most places pretend that money can only be exchanged for tokens and not vice versa. This place understands that no one buys that logic and gladly accepts tokens as a form of payment. This was a huge relief as we had no use for $20 in tokens!
Fun 80?s style game room. They have Frogger!
Fun place to spend an evening at. Nostalgia at its finest! Beers are only 5 bucks and the staff is always friendly.. Great selection of classic games & even some newer games to occupy your time. I recommend everyone try the Iron Maiden pinball machine as long as I'm not there lol... Seriously when was the last time you played Tron, Donkey Kong, guitar hero, skee ball or Donkey Kong jr.. I'm guessing it was around 1984 right? Awesome! Plus there's a smoking area out back. Load the fam-dam in the mini-van and
Fantastic arcade. A plethora of vintage games and pin ball machines. Friendly staff. Lovely time.
Great place to play old school games! Great date night and you can play alot of games for about $10. multiplayer Pacman is really fun!
A great selection of retro and modern arcade games. Friendly staff and a fun place to hang out with friends.
Excellent arcade bar with an eclectic mix of antique, retro, and modern arcade games, plus pinball machines, skeeball, and basketball games. Everything is kept in amazingly good condition. If you like a more chill experience, come at off-peak times and you'll have plenty of room to yourself.
Absolutely always a great place to hang out. I love arcade gaming. They have oversized games also. What is there not to love
Great place to play lots of retro arcade games. Good drink selection as well. Bar staff are quick and efficient, and lots of open food options nearby.
It's very fun to come out and play some games. Friendly staff and great drinks
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
