I can't recommend this toy museum enough?it was an absolute delight from start to finish! Whether you're a nostalgic adult or a curious child, there's something here for everyone. The exhibits are beautifully curated, showcasing toys from every era and corner of the globe. It felt like stepping into a time machine, with each room bringing back cherished memories and introducing us to treasures we'd never seen before. The owner was so friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about preserving the hist

We had a blast at the toy museum! We went down memory lane seeing some old school toys from our youth and some classics. It's was great to share with our kids what the toys looked like back then and they know who they are from all remakes! Oh and can't forget free play on all the arcade games, good times!

Stopped by to visit to kill some time before a concert and ended up stay way longer than anticipated, I'm so glad I stopped! This place is so cool! Lots of the toys on display I hadn't seen since I was a kid. Brought back lots of nostalgia and glad to see this place appreciates the history and culture of many of these brands. Absolutely loved the little Star Trek displays, Voltron, Littlest Pet Shop, etc. Free play games all worked and were so much fun. They had Guitar Hero set up on a PS2 and I almost died

SO fun. The guy was funny and nice, which makes a place 100% more enjoyable. Cool seeing all the things and doing the scavenger hunt! Even with 3 it took a minute. Definitely go !

This Toy Museum and Arcade is such a wonderful trip down memory lane. From GI Joe and Transformers to TNMT and Voltron, they had toys representing all the best parts of my childhood. This isn't a museum where you're going to learn about the toys or the marketing or the businesses behind them, but that doesn't detract one little bit form the enjoyment me and my friends received walking through and looking at the great collection. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They answered any question we h

Randomly popped in and owner was very kind. Front has a lot of vintage toys and back is museum plus scavenger hunt and free video games. Thata included with museum entry fee. They also serve beer and wine. What a charming little place.

We stopped in randomly just because we're nerds, and the Toy Museum was within walking distance of our hotel. What a great find! Prices are very affordable for a such a fun, all-access spot; there are games, collector?s items, toys, prizes, and more. The owner was welcoming and helpful. We didn't want to leave, and we'd definitely go back!

Absolutely wonderful Museum to spend time with family and friends! Super fun games and nostalgic memorabilia?I'm a 90s baby and had one of the best days there with my dad?????? Thanks for a perfect day Texas Toy Museum we shall be back!

If you were a kid in the 80s like myself this is a fun place to stop by, admission isn't too pricey. Brought back alot of memories of toys I had and toys I wish I could have had as a kid. I thought it was cool they had a few old consoles out to play with a nice selection of games, so my 15 year old daughter got to experience a few mins of what it was like changing out Nintendo cartridges. They could probably tidy up some of the displays and the shop in general. If you are in Austin and want to k

Very well priced for the hours and hours of arcade, pinball, Nintendo, and Xbox games that can be played. Great for families or a couple looking to relive their childhood. Highly recommend.

Great place filled with toys from my childhood and my kids? childhoods. Brought up so many happy memories ??

My mom and I had so much fun here! She enjoyed playing the arcade games from her childhood and was able to share her childhood with me. I also loved seeing all the toys and action figures from my childhood.

Siiicckk!! This was the first museum I actually ENJOYED!! There are TONS of arcades (All Free Play) Reminiscence of the good old arcade days!! This was PURE AWESOMENESS!!!

For right at $20, you can have a great couple of hours. Some of the machines showed some wear and tear and I'd love if they could dust their displays a bit, but the pinballs flowed freely and I got to spend some time on VirtualOn, an all-time favorite.

"An absolutely unique and charming place that takes you right back to your childhood. From the moment you step in, nostalgia hits, making it a truly special experience. The arcade is an added bonus, offering endless fun. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it!"

The Toy Museum is an exciting journey into the past, where you can see unique exhibits from different eras. Each toy tells its own story and helps you feel the atmosphere of childhood. It's a place that not only evokes memories but also reveals how games and toys have evolved over time.

Really fun and nostalgic. Brought my son and we had fun playing video games, looking at all the old toys and on the scavenger hunt

A great chance to relive your childhood, or inspire the childhoods of others. Arcade games, console games, action figures and other toys abound. Bring some of your older friends to see vintage toys like an original Kewpie doll, pre-war action figures, and some of the original lines of Playmobil and Fisher Price. There's much more, and you could spend hours on Freeplay arcade games. Donations welcome - beer and other alcohol available for an extra purchase. Enjoy the scavenger hunt!

Great place. Well laid out and fun. Be sure to find Waldo and play plenty of games. Took me back to the 80s ??

Excellent shot to revisit yesteryear. Of course that's the 80s and 90s but for toys and games those were the golden years. Compared to other arcade and shops this place is hands down the best. Not only are their displays awesome their collections are extensive. The collection of arcade games and consoles are free okay with a day pass. Highly recommended. Though I thought the kraken was a lot scarier in the movie...

Popped in here randomly and the owner was very welcoming. The front is a cool selection of vintage toys The back is a paid entry museum. Woth the $17 entry fee you get to scavenger hunt AND play free video games Plus they serve beer and wine. How fun!.highly recommend.

This place is an absolute gem and a great place to go and spend a few hours! We spent so long here reminiscing over toys of our childhood, so many memories brought back from the 80?s & 90?s. We did the scavenger hunt and managed to find Waldo too. Spent ages playing on the pinball machines and old school arcade games. This place is an absolute MUST visit when in Austin? staff were really friendly, such a great experience

What a cool place! Great collection of vintage arcade games and toys with a friendly ramshackle feel.

They had a scavenger hunt, which added a layer of fun and learning (we had to look up a dewback, and we did find it). My friend and I had a great time walking through the space and looking at all of the toy displays. We appreciated the casual atmosphere which allowed us to observe the collection and share our memories, which was better than reading placards about the toy?s history. Plus, we were able to research any question we had on our own. We played a couple of games, too. This place would be great to g

This place was great! Throwback to the good old days. My husband and I spent hours here with our teenagers. Played lots of great video games and just reminisced about growing up with the things we found here. It's definitely a good place to check out if you're in the area.

This is a great museum. Seriously, they have all the greatest 80s and 90s toys. Go over there now!

Fantastic place to spend a few hours, take your time and look through every display multiple times, it's a walk through your childhood! We saw toys we forgot about decades ago and it was awesome to play unlimited arcade games and pinball. Entry fee gets you free play on all the games and pinball machines. An absolute must do while in Austin and make sure you do the scavenger hunt!!

Great value for the experience you get, the nostalgia is crazy in this place and there are some games that make it 10X worth it to come here. All games are free after entry so be here all day if you want. Good mix of retro and some modern stuff too! Friendly staff as well! Thanks a lot. (Get charging cables for Xbox 360 controllers)

One of the best places to visit Austin for! Staff was very friendly and helpful in the scavenger hunt. It's the biggest treasure trove of toys I have seen in Austin and a great memory trip to the past with it's large video game collection and movie memorabilia and props! Very happy to have donated to add more to this special museum of toy history.

If you aren't into 80s-era toys, you can still go to this museum and have TONS of fun playing the arcade games to your heart's content, because they're free to play, with the price of admission - a very reasonable $17 (adult) as of this writing. If I weren't injured I would have played Dance Dance Revolution constantly. :-) It wasn't very crowded when we were there (a Wednesday, late morning) so there was no waiting to play, and nearly all the games were working. So impressive. They even had an old Simon,

This is a fun way to spend a few hours. Want to play pinball, pacman, DDR, guitar hero? This is the place. The displays are super fun.

We had a blast. I especially loved playing the old Super Mario games and a looking at the extensive collections of TMNT, Barbie, Lego, He-Man, and The Simpsons. We did a little scavenger hunt and all of the games were endless play. The only negative is that it needs to be cleaned up a bit. There's a lot of dust in the exhibits and pieces not in place.

This place is awesome! Super interactive, folks are super friendly! All around a great time spent ??

We had a great time exploring all of the collectibles & games here. We were so surprised by how many there were. The scavenger hunt was a great way to keep us even more invested. Highly recommend visiting!

My husband and I were visiting Austin for the weekend and walked from our hotel to the Toy Museum. It was $17 per adult. They had a small selection of snacks and beverages, including adult beverages in the lobby that was also a ?gift shop?. The games were easy enough to access and play. The entire place was very crowded though and kind of thrown together. Apparently it's their new location so they did have signs up saying display in progress. Unless they are able to condense or rearrange the display cases

Went there twice, once by myself and another with my friend, and both times were absolutely lovely! I took so many pictures and nerded out so much I might as well have been in heaven lmao. I think the only thing I wish they added was a Bionicle shelf in the Lego display because not only is it incredibly nostalgic to most adults nowadays but it was the toy line that saved Lego in 2001, so it's definitely has some history to it!

A cool place to check out for all ages and for fans of gaming and pop culture. The museum was a bit smaller than expected and could easily be overcrowded on busier days, as there are a lot of tight corners to walk through at times. Limited games to play as well. Over time, I hope to see it possibly being expanded and more organized.

Freaking awesome place! Make sure you give yourself plenty of time because there is so much cool stuff to see! Had to drag husband away!

Absolutely loved this place. If you grew up in 80s and 90s everything is here! It's really uncanny to have all this stuff in one place. A must visit for sure.

Very fun! Great time! So much nostalgia ??

Really cool place to hang out. Play old school games and look at old child hood toys.

I flew into Austin and had a few hours to waste before checking into my hotel. I'm so happy I found this place. It's very affordable and so so cool. I forgot how much I enjoyed playing pinball. The toy collection is impressive too, full of nostalgia. I wish something like this was near me

Such a fun experience! So much nostalgia, not only from toys but also for videogames. Definitely a great place for a date

Stumbled on this place while exploring Austin on my day off. There's a modest toy/hobby shop in the front, and the person at the desk asked if I wanted to see the museum. I hesitated because it was $17 and it's hard to tell what's back there, but I'm so happy I bought the admission ticket. This is like the place I dreamed about as a kid. So much awesome toy and memorabilia to look at, and a bunch of vintage arcade cabinets around the museum - all free to play after cost of admission. Thought I'd spent 15-20

If you're an ?80s kid this is a must see. My guy has everything, very impressive

Tons of fun for 80?s babies. Picking out the toys you had when you were a kid. The free play games are in good condition. The best part is the scavenger hunt. Plenty challenging and keeps you hanging out for a while! Hidden gem of Austin.

A great little place to revisit your childhood. The arcade games are free to use and are some of the more popular units of the 90s. They also serve some fresh drinks and snacks while you explore the endless action-packed dioramas.

Visiting Austin and stopped in with the kiddos. Pretty cool place with lots of 80?s nostalgia. A must see!

Fun place to play arcade games and see cool vintage toys!

Nostalgia for sure... every toy we grew up with could now be seen by my kids for what real toys were compared to their stuff lol. It's not very interactive with TV screens showing random clips of the cartoons or commercials of the toys but there are a lot of old school video games to play for free! Truthfully the displays could be organized and displayed a little better as they are just cluttered together. It's not super big inside for the amount of toys they have. The entrance fee is a little high but we g

A bit small, but still an awesome place to see the toys of yesteryear. Plus, tons of arcade and console games to play if you'd like, with pretty good parking just up the street.

Super fun location! My group did the scavenger hunt and got a free shirt for completing it in the allotted time. The owner, Caleb, was super nice and showed us some really cool movie props from his collection. While I think any age level would love this location. I think adults would really enjoy it as most of collection is toys from the 80-90s. I will definitely come back to this location whenever I'm in the city. Keep in mind this is a second story location. You will have to use stairs to get to it.

This place was super fun! If you're in Austin please stop here! Totally worth the trip and time. They have all of the classic toys from tv shows, to comics, to Fischer Price! There was a scavenger hunt too and that was a lot of fun. You have to find certain toys and Waldo! We loved it! My teenager loved it so much she kept thanking me for taking her. Hope this place gets bigger and bigger!

Super fun time. Brings you back in you lived in the 80s and 90s. A couple things could be cleaner but they have some really cool things. Play unlimited games for $17. I wanted to stay longer but definitely worth checking it out.

Hubby and I had a great time for over 3 hours here. Not only are there tons of cool things to look at and fun games to play, but they have a scavenger hunt too!! Definitely come by. What a great find!

Love this place! A little known gem. The museum scavenger hunt was fun. They have beer available for purchase and an arcade style game room. I came here to kill time before hitting up the dance clubs.

Loved it here it was so nice to see and learn about and play all their favorite toys/ classic arcade games could spend 2.5 hours here easily

This place is the bomb, there is a charge but it's worth it for the nostalgia and the unlimited free play off all the games! Took my nephew here and we did the scavenger hunt they give out...we won 2 stickers and an extra prize for finding Waldo :) so many cool old toys and games, stuff I haven't thought about in so many years. Very fun afternoon spent here. It's a small joint for now, but they are moving into a bigger space later this year...I'll have to go back and check out the new diggs!

This place made my family so happy! I am so impressed by this collection. Just wow. Brought me back to so many fun memories in my childhood. My 9 and 11 yo had fun doing the scavenger hunt. We played pinball and some of my fav arcades. This is one of the few places downtown that still has the feel of Austin. Eccentric, eclectic, weird! Would be a great place for a date too. They have some local beers on draft. Please support this wonderful Austin business!!!

This place is awesome. Cool displays and vintage games. Really brings you back to your youth when wandering along museum.

Such a cute space dedicated to games and nostalgic memorabilia! The first time I visited, I did their scavenger hunt: find the figurines or items on the list and win a prize! Good location too if you want to walk around Congress.

Phenomenal place to take kids, and to remember being a kid yourself. SO many great memories for anyone who grew up in the 80s and 90s. Transformers, Voltron, Robotech, TMNT, GI Joe, Cabbage Patch, WWF, Pok?mon, all kids of classic metal lunchboxes? They even had a scavenger hunt for the kids with prizes, and beer & wine for the adults. Free play on all the games. Kid-friendly for kids of all ages.

So fun, memory magic. Happy place to be, can't wait to bring my friends! Great display, games in back and toys to take home too. Yay!

Loved the trip down memory lane. Thousands of 80s toys and memorabilia. Lost our group had forgot about were shown in great condition. Loved the ability to buy drinks, hang out, and play retro games as well.

Definitely a must see! There is so much in such a small space. Play a scavenger hunt, buy drinks or play arcade games! Super interesting and super cute!

This is the coolest place in Texas. So many toys to look at, action figures you didn't even know existed, many still in the original packaging! Awesome arcade cabinets and pinball machines! Worth the visit twice.

This place hurt my feelings as a '91 baby because they had toys and games I had growing up and I swear I'm not old and my toys aren't vintage. ?? This place is amazing and made it so much fun with a scavenger hunt. The owner is fantastic and so personable. Thank you for creating this small business!!

Amazing collection of toys to look at and a great variety of games to play as well! Very fair pricing for the experience!

Would recommend to those who love old toys and nostalgia but I know it's not for everybody. I would rate it a 3.5/5 for the experience and don't forget to look up! There is a wide range of different toys you can see! It is very interesting but it is also very small and short given the space. I will admit though that they compacted the space to the point where if you do multiple walk through a you'll always find something new.

This place is awesome! Awesome collection of toys - my favorites being the vintage Nintendo consoles and vintage Lego sets! Free play arcade games and pinball machines were set up as well as some video game consoles - N64, NES, SNES, Xbox, and PS2 with Guitar Hero were the main ones set up when I was there. The scavenger hunt was fun and a good way to really take in everything at the museum. Being able go grab a beer and walk around and play games was a really nice touch, too. The place is pretty small. It

You know how you would have your bedroom and then your parents would yell at you to clean up, and you would say it is clean, and they point out that everything is everywhere, and you say that it is all where you know it is, and there would be a slight fuss? This amazing establishment is that moment in time after your first talking back, and before it goes further. If this is the curator's intention? I don't know. But I for one appreciated it. The amount of gems to play on the arcades, consoles, and pinball

Not what we expected. It was A bunch of old toys jammed into crowded spaces and poorly displayed except for the back hallway that leads to the bathrooms. No explanation of what you're looking at. Overpriced for what's there. No explanation how to play the arcade machines. The scavenger hunt was mildly fun. The employees were friendly and helpful and fixed a couple of the arcade games while we waited. Personally would not recommend. 1 person of our group of 4 would rate it w a 1.

What a hidden gem!! Amazing experience, really cool story behind it. Brought back many great memories from my childhood (80s). My 8 and 9 year old kids loved it too. Wife and I enjoyed a beer and a wine. Everyone loved the free arcade!

Such a cool place! We basically spent all day inside (you are given the option to come and go once you pay for your pass) playing some very nostalgic arcade games, demo set ups and different consoles over the decades! Worth the money & great place to beat the heat!

Totally awesome experience! Such a walk down memory lane

Absolutely loved it a journey back in time My kids loved it too

This is one of the coolest places I've been to in a long time! The owner of this place is totally a cool dude with a creative mind ! Such an amazing person! Thank you for the experience! ??????

Really cool retro toy museam with arcade games. I'm only rating 4 stars because it's a little cramped, but that's not necessarily a bad thing since there is so much to see. The scavenger hunt fun, so be sure to try that. I had a blast playing the arcade games, too.

Awesome spot! Great for kids, and adults. Spend an hour or two with all of the free play games! Definitely recommend

Really neat spot. Was visiting 6th St and didn't know this was nearby. So happy we stopped in. We had a lot of fun and we were in there for quite some time. The bathrooms could use some attention.

Came out of town and this was one of our stops. It's a cool, small toy museum but arcade joysticks were not completely functional or had sticky buttons. I wish it had more to it but we were thrilled by seeing some of our childhood toys! .

Incredible collection and the games are a lot of fun

If you are ever looking for a nostalgia trip or just want to play some fun games, you have to stop by Caleb?s insanely awesome play place.

We stumbled across this place our first day in Austin and would highly recommend it. Has an amazing collection of toys mostly focused on the 1980s. Huge G.I.Joe, Transformers, Thundercats displays amongst other toys. Admission was $12 per person and if you complete the scavenger hunt you get a free small toy. Also has an arcade and pinball room on free play and beer and wine for sale.

Coolest place to spend two hours with a kid of ANY age in the city!

Yo! You gotta check out this place! It's like a total throwback to my childhood. They have all these nostalgic toys and video games from back in the day. N64, Super Nintendo, Xbox, PS2, you name it! I felt like a kid again, reliving all my favorite memories. It was awesome!

We had the best time here. It was great seeing all of the old toys that I grew up with and play the games. Highly, highly recommend going.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
