Surf's Up Arcade

Surf's Up Arcade

Reviews Summary

The arcade receives mixed reviews, with many complaints about technical issues (WiFi outages, broken machines), lack of staff, and sudden price increases. Negative reviews highlight frustration with malfunctioning games, unfair ticket systems, and poor customer service. However, positive reviews praise the clean environment, working machines, affordable pricing (during certain hours), and enjoyable experiences when everything functions properly. The arcade's potential is noted, but consistent maintenance and staffing appear to be major shortcomings.

Customer Reviews

Attention Pinheads! 3 brand new Stern (007, TMNT, Batman) all playing nice. Cheap credits and a brewery downstairs. Worth a stop.

This place is a total ripoff. $5 is supposed to get you 5 games, but it only gave us 4. I played a James Bond pinball machine which crashed and rebooted on the first ball, and then didn't get to finish my game. My wife wanted to trade in the piddly amount of tickets that she won, but there are two machines to trade in tickets, and the one with the small prizes is turned off. And there's nobody there to talk to, or fix anything. This place should go out of business. I'd give it 0 stars, if that was an option

A bit on the smaller side and has a decent variety, but I felt burned by the connect four hoops machine since it took credits but failed to release the balls. The basketball game also needed its balls to be inflated but was a good one. I think this place has potential if it felt a little more cared for. Shout-out the cruisin blast machine that they had though! Very cool

Worst arcade ever! Hockey table had to puck (so points lost) and the machine with the points stole about 550 points. A person before me lost 2,500 but we only found out after the fact. No person to help out, they just ask you to call the number on the back of the card. Do yourself a favor, go to a different arcade.

Kids loved it on day 1! It's quiet and all the games all worked! Literally over night the prices on the machines doubled multiple games didn't work and no employees work here. Take your money elsewhere.

Amazing time New year eve. Looking to kill time before the fireworks my wife daughter and I headed here and had the arcade to completely ourselves! Clean, working games, all self serve using vending style machines for prizes. Really awesome spot

Great little arcade, not a ton of games but also not as expensive as some of the other options nearby. Prizes limited but tickets were decently generous. Really clean and all the machines worked without issue.

If the WiFi goes out every machine goes down and there is no one is there to even talk in behalf of the Arcade much less solve the issue. Don't go here

Incredibly limited games and prizes. The worst part: they double the price of games after 5pm.

No wifi so none of The games work and there is no one here to tell

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
