Sunshine Laundry is a unique, beloved spot combining a laundromat with a hidden pinball bar. Reviewers consistently praise its excellent selection of well-maintained pinball machines, friendly staff, and great beer offerings. The quirky, nostalgic vibe and board games add to its charm. While most rate it highly, a few note minor issues like tight space, high pinball prices, or occasional machine sensitivity. Customer Reviews

What an experience! We did laundry and had fun playing pinball! You need cash for both the laundromat and the pinball machine, but you can exchange it to coins there. They don't serve food, but we were allowed to bring in whatever food we wanted. There's a great pizza place across the street, which was very convenient. This place is a hidden gem, friendly and affordable! Highly recommended!

Hidden in plain sight in Greenpoint, this speakeasy caught me by surprise?I didn't realize what it was until I ventured to the back of the laundromat. The drinks are VERY affordable, and they've got plenty of arcade games (bring cash for those). There's also a cozy backyard and a dozen board games to choose from. It's the kind of spot that works just as well for a fun night out with friends as it does for a relaxed date night.

Grab a beer and play pinball while you do your laundry! So much better than watching the spin cycle on the washing machine. Sunhsine has a speak easy bar behind the fake dryers in the back. Inside the bar there are pinball machines all around. They also host a pinball league. Great selection of local beers and a small outside area. Best of all it's dog friendly!

This is a cool pinball arcade that's like a speakeasy located in the back of a functioning laundromat. There's a bunch of pinball machines, a skeeball game, a couple tables, board games, and a bar serving up pretty good draft beers. This is definitely a hidden gem in the Greenpoint area and a must-visit if you like pinball.

Coolest place in NYC arguably the world. Touring bands should definitely do a stop here. We did our laundry while enjoying fresh brews and playing pinball. What more can you ask for?

Excellent pinball spot tucked behind a laundromat. Staple in Greenpoint for over a decade. Come in and play a game. Staff is excellent and great to have a laundromat equipped with a bar when you need both.

It was my first time here so unlike other reviewers, I have no comparison on how this was place pre-reopening. I had a great time! Friendly bartender and a few pinball machines at the back to pass the time. Small patio as well. If I had to do laundry here my liver would fail. (A compliment.)

Cute/fun little bar in the back of an active laundromat. Good beers. Quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and tacos. Lots of board games. Four pinball machines ($1/play). Small rear patio. Our bartender's mom made the cool dog-themed mosaic tile table tops.

Best place to play pinball in the city. Machines are rotated in and out. There's a bar that serves beer and wine. A very pleasant and relaxed location.

Incredible experience, great beer and pinball selections all games are new or in perfect condition, they even have beer holders on the machines. Full selection of board games as well. I actually haven't seen that many board games in years. Oh and you can do your laundry too, and bring your pooch... Great place will definitely be returning.

An absolute Greenpoint staple and I'm glad it re-opened. Great beers for cheap, amazing atmosphere, and every board game you can think of. And there's most important thing is: there's a chimpanzee that will tell you your fortune for 25 cents.

Very nice laundromat and bar. I don't speak English but the master was very kind to me. I was nervous before I entered the bar but I really enjoyed it. Greenpoint is also a wonderful town. I will definitely go back again before I leave New York.

Wow, this might just be my favorite bar ever. I love pinball and I randomly found this place on Atlas Obscura. You enter through an actual laundromat and in the back there's a door to the bar. I counted at least 20 different pinball machines. The atmoshere was really nice. Lively but not too loud. Cozy but not too dark. Decent drink selection. We ended up hanging out here, playing cards, drinking beer and playing pinball. So much fun!

Incredible selection of pinball machines, all meticulously maintained and most are Limited Editions and tricked out. Super thoughtful decorating and appointing, rare features, and wicked nice owner. Absolutely a must-see for pinball fans in NYC.

First time visiting Sunshine after having it on my list forever - we had a great time! It wasn't too busy, and there were tables to sit at. The bar tender was friendly and the drinks were good - we were mostly on hard seltzers. There's a change machine to get quarters for the pinball machines which were fun. Also a few other random machines! One main bathroom and a small patio out back. Cool little place.

Great news! The bar and arcade have finally reopened their doors at 5pm! Due to some neighborhood zoning issues, they currently have a limited selection of only five machines. However, don't let that discourage you from paying them a visit because it's definitely still worth it. I had the pleasure of meeting Dee at the bar, who was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back again soon!

This place is made of dreams and I hope you never wanna come here so I can have it all to myself. Tons of great top of the line pinball machines (old and new), a large beer and drink selection that I wouldn't pay this much for if this wasn't such an amazing establishment. The vibe and crowd is always great and the staff is always on point, happy and sweet. What more can a nice boy ask for?

$1 a game for pinball is a bit steep, but the environment is nice, and I'll likely be back.

Pretty genuine pinball joint "hidden" at the back of a real laundromat. It's super low-key and casual, in a good way. It feels like the pinball idea grew organically from the laundromat rather than it being a faux speakeasy which is common in the city. The beers are reasonably priced (roughly $8 for good draft and $5 for a can) and the games are fun. Kids are welcome.

We went here for after drinks and it is the best place ever! Such a cool vibe and the owner is the nicest person to exist!! Fortune teller machine says true only but do not expect fancy drinks cause this place stays true to some real bear and ciders; meet fun people and play some games - that is what this place is for!! PS hi Peter thanks for the T-shirt ??

Fun pinball speak easy in the back! Great bartender - Dan.

Really enjoyable bar. Tucked away which adds to the aura. Run by a couple (from what I can tell) who has dogs and their merch all over. Absolutely recommend it.

Amazing hidden gem! Really has that speakeasy feel. I basically came into NYC for this place (and to get some New York pizza) and was not at all disappointed. I took my father with me because he grew up on pinball and we had a great time playing the vast selection of pinball games in the bar. Good selection of beer, but no food aside from bar snacks. I went on a weekday and it really picked up during the evening, I would assume this place is packed on a Friday or Saturday night.

Greta Speakeasy offers an experience with a lively atmosphere, arcade-style games, and great vibes?perfect for a fun night out!

So much fun! It's brings me back to my childhood. The variety of pinball machines here is unmatched in the city! Grab a beer and have some fun. Still debating which one is my favorite.

So fun for kids and adults! Bartender was great.

Pinball, drinks, and get some laundry done too! Staff are friendly, and the machines are really high quality. It's so colorful inside, and the general vibe is very chill. There's also a cute little fortune telling machine for only 25 cents. Definitely check it out!

Love this place. They always have the best games in the city. Bar is just beer and wine but that's not a problem since you're mainly there to play pinball. Bring cash!

A real laundramat that HIDDEN behind of dryer doors a Pinball arcade with a small bar ( you can have just a soda if you want) with a lot of stools and raised tables and over two dozen pinball machines a few machines are made for them as well. Great oneslike the Addams family,Star Trek Next Gen.,Theatre of Magic, Star Wars and more and they seem to rotate machines as well. There is a covered porch that has a nice amount of light in the daytime, and if you want there is aset of shelves with some small boxes

We came by to grab a drink and play some pinball. The bar is under renovation, but the attendant was very accommodating and we did get to do everything we came to do. The bar looks amazing, and we look forward to coming back.

Came here with some friends. Didn't get our bartenders name but he was super friendly and had all the good recommendations. Ciders and Sours were great and decently priced. They have 8.3 ABV Cider for $7 so bang for your buck. Definitely come thru again

Wow- this is a pinball fan's heaven! All sorts of rare and exotic pinball in great working condition, along with a decently sized bar section and of course laundry machines. Food is limited, but you're not here for that, are you? Make a trip!

So, so happy we went there! We went to a few speak easy bars during our stay in NYC, but this was by far our favorite. Super chill ambience, nice barkeeper and a good choice of beer! ;) BTW: thank you so much for the shirts and creating a memory for us!

So much fun on the pinball machines. Some for 75 cent some are 1 dollar. Can get also beer from draft and refreshing drinks.

Exactly as advertised. Pinball in the back room of a laundromat. Good beer on tap. Loud and fun.

Cell service, at least T-Mobile, does not exist here, but maybe that is a good thing. They have 4-5 pinball tables, all recent and all deluxe tables. They had the big Lebowski in a box but it looked like it's coming. Low key atmosphere. Not too busy or rowdy, even on the weekends, and even better you can do your laundry at this bar.

Do your laundry or just go straight to the pinball bar. Wide range of taps and drinks and a ton of pinball. Pinball doesn't open until around 16:30

Beer & pinball all while your tighty whities go through the spin cycle - fantastic ! Lots of fun and conveniently located .

What a great place in brooklyn. Make the effort to visit it iff you're visiting NYC (use the subway) Very good atmosphere. Surprise entrance. Huge choice of pinball machines, friendly service, we had great 90's eurodance coming out of the speakers.

This speakeasy is awesome. Great vibes, the drinks are affordable and a LOT of games for everyone to play.

Great pins that are well maintained. Takes dollars and quarters.

A great place to unwind with some pinball after work. You can also do your laundry here too I guess.

The laundromat finally opened up the bar in the back! The staff is great and they have a good selection of pinball games.

My wife and I went here for a date last night. Hadn't been a few years and we love pinball. We were shocked when we walked through the door. What was once a vibrant, fun and amazing room filled to the brim with pinball machines is now a weird bar in the back of a laundromat with bad beer, and only 4 machines (there used to be over 20 machines). Totally disappointing & confusing to see one of the coolest establishments in Brooklyn change for the worse. A real gut punch, honestly. Why would you take away the

Love this place, the vibe is great, the atmosphere is cool, and the bartender Dee is a new best friend you have yet to meet. Talking to her is easily as fun as pinball.

Love the pinball selection, but bar is back open and they were blasting music. You couldn't hear the pinball at all. Not much point in Foo Fighters if you can't hear it.

It's where I do my laundry, drink, and play pinball. I find the service in either half to be excellent. It's worth noting that it can be a bit loud when there are large groups/it's full, but that's a bar. Come through to play board games from their pretty good selection, or drop some coin on pinball - genuinely lovely way to pass an afternoon. There is also league pinball hosted here. Bar doesn't open until 4pm on weekdays.

Such a cool place! The bar and additional pinball arcade area didn't open until 4 but there were some pinball machines in the general Laundromat Section. There are a bunch of board games you can play in addition to the pinball machines that are free of cost. Great chill date/hang out spot. Will be coming back!

A laundromat Speakeasy....with pinball....that sells beer.... that has a dog.

PROS: If you like pinball, this is a cool place. They have LOTS of machines in good working order along with good beer and a mystery frozen drink offering. CONS: pinball is a little pricey at $1/game. It is a tight space. It can be loud.

I've heard a great deal about this place and was expecting it to be more hidden. However, though it's no longer a true speakeasy, this place delivers! Im a pinball geek so I was overjoyed at their collection of machines. They have uber retro, classics, and new! Definitely worth it for pinball lovers. They also have a ton of brilliant board games (not the typical bar games)! Perfect place for a midday/post-brunch date or a stopover with friends. They have a full ceiling skylight in back - we went on a rainy

Seems cool but it's closed for renovations but owner hasn't updated info on website or Google so we came all the way out just for it to be closed. There were still 3 machines to play in the laundromat but it's a pretty quiet spot so it doesn't have the same vibe. Got some dirty looks from the old folks when we played one machine so hit the bricks pretty quick. Can't wait to come back when it's open

Cool speakeasy pinball bar in the back of a functioning laundromat. (The washer dryer stack in the back just might be a door ??). Cool staff, great atmosphere, and sometimes a dog!! (If it's his shift)

One of my favorite places in NYC. I've never done laundry here, but the "secret" pinball bar in the back features a fantastic (rotating) selection of tables that range from classics to modern marvels. Beers are moderately priced, and every game is a buck. An amazing place to lose an evening.

I gave 3 stars because I've always played pinball since I was young and was pretty good at it. This place is very cool- lots of pinball games so that gets 5 stars... but the games, some of which I played many years ago, were not in the greatest condition. Balls would jump off the rail, some of the games were not level and the tilt was too sensitive on a selected few. A dollar a game get pricey, especially for games that are not in the greatest condition.

Best spot for pinball with a beer and sure get your laundry done too! Love the setup. Visited a bunch and still love the surprise of walking into the back area. They started making Roberta's pizza which makes it a true one stop spot for everything you need for the perfect hang!

Still can't believe there's a bar behind this place. Tons of variety with their pinball machines.

If you like pinball this is all you need. Great table selection which is thankfully all extremely well maintained. Add a few good drafts and pizza into the mix and you've got the perfect pinball bar. 100% dope.

Great speakeasy! Found at the back of a working launderette this bar is jam packed full of pinball machines and board games. Bar doesn't do spirits but just order from a range of beers and ciders and you'll be sweet.

Some of the pinball machines are broken in subtle ways that don't allow you to play the games correctly. Others have really tight tilt. The staff are friendly and if you are looking to do laundry that's also possible.

My favorite place to play pinball in the city, partly because it isn't a crusty dive bar but mostly because of the magical experience of entering through what appears to be an ordinary laundromat into a cavern of flashing, blinging, clanging, well cared-for machines. It can get a little crowded during the busy times and some of the tables are annoyingly close to the machines, but it's all part of the arcade experience. Oh, they also serve beer and wine and some snacks. I don't drink anymore, so I can't comm

Lets just say I traveled a thousand miles to NYC (arguably the greatest tourist destination in the world) and this was the #1 place I wanted to visit. It certainly did not disappoint. Good people, great beer and a selection of excellent working/rare pinball tables that would rival any place in the country. Check out the eclectic options in the vending machine on the way out ;)

Good selection of pinball machines. Guy with the manbun and glasses tending bar on Wednesday night was just a plain rude dismissive jerk even after tipping him really well. Made us feel super unwelcome for no reason at all. Your milage may vary but I'd rather eat broken glass than give that guy money ever again. Friendlier places to play pinball in the area.

so much fun, great vibe, and the bartender (Allie) literally gave us cash to use at the pinball machines because we didn't have any (thanks Allie!)

Love it. The secret bar concept is kitchy, sure, but they don't play it up overly much and let the atmosphere and the well-curated and extensive selection of pinball machines do the talking. Plus there are giant friendly dogs walking around sometimes, which usually enhances most experiences. Just don't look the actual laundry customers in the eye as you enter and exit. Their jealousy is palpable.

Not sure if I should be rating this as a bar or as a laundromat... I used it as both because it was the closest laundry to me. Doing laundry would get annoying at night with the amount of people coming in and out, I don't recommend that mistake, at least you get to drink while waiting for laundry. The bar itself is a speak easy pinball bar in a laundry mat that's cool as it is. Definitely not a place you'll be for a long time unless you wanna shred pinball and beers all night. Worth checking out though for

Pros - Incredible selection of 'A list' pins and most of the new stuff being manufactured from Stern, Jersey Jack and Spooky. Beer selection and service was also on point. Cons - Table difficulty is set way to high, and it seemed that things like 'ball save' have been turned off, as well as the standard 3 plays for $2 deal. I really wanted to love Sunshine laundry, and play pinball competitively. However I felt that the way the operator had his games set up crossed a bit of a line with me. I get making mo

There is a new "hidden" bar behind the fake laundry machines at the back. There are many more pinball machines than before (including Attack from Mars, yay!), they are all in perfect condition, and the beer selection is great. This place rules.

One of the best pinball spots. Once you're in here it's 5 stars for sure. But call ahead and verify they're actually open - they're not big on following the hours they post on their website or here on google maps.

They have set all the games up so brutally it is no longer fun to play there. Great selection, but they have allowed greed to take over. If you actually enjoy pinball, stay away from Sunshine. They just want to take your money.

Sunshine has a small but good beer selection and an amazing atmosphere. Just walking in is an experience of itself. I can (and have) played pinball here for hours with some classic, and some new, machines. And you can actually do laundry here!

Pinball action behind a laundry. A must go for all pinball fans.

Always a beautiful time. Very friendly bartenders, great beer selection. Plenty of pinball machines

The only place to go to "do your laundry." Astounding collection of pinball machines through the back door, my favorite being Monster Bash and Arabian Nights. Selection of draft beers for $7 was also full of variety and not-your-typical beers, such as a clove-spiced and a coffee/breakfast porters.

If you like pinball beer and wine you will probably love this place. I would have given it 5 stars but I was playing LOTR pinball by a group of kids playing blind mans bluff, and one or maybe all of them were farting constantly. I four starred in case the bar paid them to make that machine smell like golem.

Favorite spot to bring people visiting. Simply a magical experience, although I can't recommend coming during peak hours. Great place to come alone too because pinball is a solitary experience.

This little gem is getting added to my regular rotation for Saturday hangs with friends. Only wine and beer and the selection isn't stellar but the place has a great vibe. Endless pinball fun.

A GREAT TOURIST EXPERIENCE - came here with two children, we bought all our pocket money and had lots of fun! Although their games are cheap, they are quick and with two children it adds up quick. Bar was nice and affordable

Fun place! Check it out!

Fun place to visit with friends to have a beer and play board games and/or pinball machines.

They have a pretty great collection of pinball machines they power up on the evenings and weekends. They're usually in good shape. It's very worth the trip. I've never used the actual washing machines, just the pinball. :)

A big kid's freaking dream. My favourite things tucked away in one place: laundry, pinball and beer. 30+ pinball tables in behind a laundromat serving different styles of craft beer on tap and in cans. Tables ranging from the 80s (maybe 90s) to current. Can be either packed full or you have the place to yourself. Open until 2am and 4am.

The pinball is FANTASTIC! I don't think anyone takes as much pride and care of these machines like Peter (who by the way, is an incredibly friendly and welcoming person). A nice blend of the top-tier machines and classics. I've traveled here dozens of times just to play pinball. Currently, Sunshine has Twilight Zone, Medieval Madness, Theatre of Magic ,The Addams Family (Gold Edition), Monster Bash, Attack From Mars, Funhouse, Tales of the Arabian Nights, Indiana Jones the Pinball Adventure, World Cup Socce

I LOVE this place. Excellent frose and beer selections. My only disappointment is that the Jurassic Park pinball has at least been temporarily retired. Fingers crossed it makes a return!

20 or so of the best 90's Bally/Williams pins you will ever see, plus a Big Bang Bar and some top-end Sterns to mix it up. Friendly owner and staff, what a great find! It's like being able to play someone's exclusive, world-class collection of lovingly maintained pins, because that's essentially what you are doing.

Crammed in a narrow hallway. The washers and dryers were in good condition. $5 for a triple loader and each quarter gives you 6 minutes of dryer time. No tables for folding. The bonus is the secret craft beer bar behind a hidden door with a showcase of excellent, late model - digital age, pinball machines, complete with non laundry-doing patrons.

24 hour laundromat with a no-frills speakeasy in the back. Great spot to pregame before a show at Brooklyn Bazaar! They have pinball as well, although I haven't played there yet.

If you're into pinball this place is awesome. There's lots of machines to choose from and they peoodically change the new machines out so you can get your hands on the new one. Along with that you can get something to drink at the far end you can also do your laundry if you do laundry....

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
