Went there with a group of people, some of us wore fursuits they were super friendly, and accepting the place was awesome and the food was great! I definitely recommend going!
We visited Sunset Lanes with an entire hockey team between games in Moorhead, and it was an unforgettable experience. We had 3 lanes, and each family ordered their own meals. Our ordering of food was incredibly extensive, yet they managed to accommodate 40+ of us with a surprisingly tiny kitchen, all while delivering outstanding service. The staff was absolutely exceptional?beyond friendly, efficient, and attentive. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, making us feel like VIP
Blast from the past. Stays open much later then all the Fargo Bowling alleys on the weekend, we had some much fun here with the kids I'm GLAD Fargo closed before 11pm. Cant wait to go again, was very comfortable here.
Such an awesome bowling alley! Definitely the best one in Moorhead. The music is so much fun, and very upbeat. The bathrooms are quite clean. The service is AWESOME! We were having issues with our lane, and the worker fixed it a couple times and then swapped us to another lane. Our game data transferred over no problem! We had an absolute blast and will definitely be back again!
Best set of lanes in the FM area. I go at least twice a week. Everyone is super friendly, Lonnie in the pro shop knows his stuff and has gear for just about every type of bowler. Their prices are 1/2 of what the other guys charge, yet they still maintain a clean, high quality alley. I tell everyone to go here.
The food is excellent for a bowling alley. The pizza is one of the best in town and the wings are good as well. Their Caribbean jerk sauce is phenomenal. The waitresses and bartenders are excellent.
We've used Sunset for larger groups and small gatherings. Their packages are easy to reserve online and when all is said and done equal out to about $10 per person for 2 hours of entertainment, lunch and bevvies. All staff we've encountered are very friendly and accommodating and their pizza is DELICIOUS! A variety of seating is available making it possible for the adults to socialize while the kids are entertained and there is a bar on sight. Would highly recommended if you're looking for a gathering spot
Best experience ever. The boys had so much fun. Coming from CA it's been a bit daunting finding fun places for the boys to really have fun?s
The staff here are always SO fantastic and welcoming! Great food, there's a bar there, a rentable space, and an arcade upstairs. Really nice touch screens for the allies! Open bowling is very affordable (it was less than $50 for a game for 4 bowlers, shoe rentals, a 12" pizza, and 2 sodas). The kids had a blast, only a few open lanes when we were there on a Saturday around 6p. We've done a birthday party here before too and just loved it! My only suggestion, is I didn't see a baby changing table or a lar
Nice place to go bowling ?? with friends. Lanes are well oiled. Balls slide well, but I play on lane 18, and my ball gets so dirty after games, so I should clean and polish my ball again.
Fun family atmosphere with amazing staff !
Came here for a tournament. One of the best experiences I've had traveling to a tournament. Great job
Rented out a bowling lane with some friends one Saturday afternoon. Was a good time. Lots of people and kids bowling. Kids had bumper come up automatically when their name came up on the list. Some of the place is a bit dated and some of the games upstairs in the arcade do not work. There is a room upstairs for birthday parties or gatherings. It can be divided off from the arcade area. There is good available to order onsite. Lockers are available. The bowling lanes are in good shape. Electronic scoring
This bowling facility has programs for children and teens as well as the usual adult programs. There's a facility upstairs where people can play arcade games. There's also an extensive menu.
My absolute favorite spot not just for bowling, but to hang out and have a great time in general! I used to frequent this place a lot. I miss going there. I will never forget the kindness and easy-going nature owner Mike and his wife showed to me. Sunset Lanes really was the only place in Fargo/Moorhead area where I truly felt comfortable being there because I never had to worry about being discriminated. I hope y'all doing great! Happy Thanksgiving!
Nice, little bowling alley in Moorhead. The rental shoes were a little too big and a bit dirty, apart of that it was a decent experience. Unless you're super fast, don't rent by the hours rather take it easy and pay by the game - you will save money.
Best bowling alley in the FM area. Always clean and very friendly staff.
Great food and awesome service. We had the mini tacos, soft pretzel bites, and pizza. Everything was served hot and was really well-flavored. The best part was how friendly and attentive the staff was!
My son bowls here on Sat during fall/winter and spring with a great group of kids. We always have fun and friendly competition.
Best old school bowling experience in town. Everything is simple, inexpensive, and team is committed to an extent you rarely see now. Skip the small pizza. The large is wayyy better.
The Staff was awesome. And loved ghe Coors edge..
got scam at the arcade, i won 2,000 and i didn't get the tickets
Was impressed, nice kid friendly place and few mechanical problems for the tournament. Went well again today
Staff were friendly and helpful. Pizza was tasty. Lanes and digital displays are well maintained, clean, and modern. Entry area could use some remodeling.
The arcade games somehow give the lowest prizes most of the time. I hit this twice, both times it gave 4 tokens. Same as the jackpot
The best staff, great pizza, and well-maintained lanes. They've also got a pro shop for anybody looking to get a new ball or any other bowling needs.
We have had several kids birthday parties here and we ALWAYS have a great experience. The staff is extremely helpful and patient (even when they are busy), the pizza is classic bowling alley pizza (delicious), and the kids have a blast. The birthday packages are reasonably priced. Thanks Sunset Lanes!
Went today and order some lunch for me and my daughter. Friendly staff, the food is great! The only thing was the raspberry ice tea we got was bland and taste like it's been sitting, but minor problems. Also I love how the cook kept washing her hands, Way to go guys!
Pizza was okay. Kids love going here.
I really like the place and Mike who was one of the staff. help me out a lot very friendly guy. would have gave them a five ?? but they didn't have any souvenirs or any small things, like cards or something for Travelers to show for the place. I would have liked to have a cup with a bowling alleys name on it that I visit being here from Colorado. Oh and I didn't see any handicap parking signs visible but the place seemed very busy people buying food. they also have a bar area.
Update: still love this place and the original post still stands, but they have since added an arcade upstairs and the kids seem to really enjoy it and they have updated birthday party packages to reflect that. Original:place to take the kids or family. Friendly Staff. Updated lanes with automatic bumpers for kids. New touch screens for each lane so its so much easier to change it. Also new game mode where you can build a monster, my kids love that mode. Sometimes there is a small wait to be assisted since
A great experience at Sunset Lanes! The manager was so incredibly great to work with when scheduling Sunset Lanes for a large group! I will definitely continue to patron this great Moorhead establishment! I cannot say enough amazing things about the professional and accommodating ways my group and I were treated by this local business! Thank you for an incredibly fun experience!
Awesome updated lanes to bowl, good food and bar downstairs with an arcade upstairs. Been to multiple parties held upstairs in the event room overlooking the lanes and it is a fun place to be all around.
Sunset did a great job for our large group. Multiple pizzas and soda were all delivered before our second game and smelled great. It as crowded as it was Saturday night, but I never felt like I didn't have my space.
Pretty fun experience, the wife and I never get out to do bowling. It was a great, arcade upstairs made us pretty happy because there was Skee-Ball and a few arcade games that we like. Super reasonable rates, clean environments, got a Lane right away.
They updated the lanes of this old bowling ally. They put in new carpet as well. With a touch of a finger you can choose bumpers for each bowler or choose not to use them in the middle of your Frame without the need of a service call. The new owners have done a great job with all aspects of this place. Has a fun little gaming area for the kids as well if they are tired of bowling. This is always our first choice for a family outing
The employees are super friendly and accommodating. They have the most amazing homemade pizza! The lanes are great with hardly any breakdowns. We always have a fun time there.
Great place for family fun. 3/19/23 update: the food was not as good as it usually is. The lane we were on had some malfunctions. Still had a great time bowling and a good family environment. Hopefully, the food is better next time.
SUCH AMAZING STAFF. Love this place. We go there all the time. Kids love it. They also have small arcade up stairs. Kids, for sure love that.
Was there for retirement party & Karaoke. Marci, Bartender in Basement Lounge is the Best, always Super friendly, she enjoys her customers, and brings a smile to everyone. The Karaoke host " Cowboy", is the Best...the place, nothing fancy, but welcoming!! Lots of all age groups there for Neon Rockn Bowl... For me, brings back memories of times past!!! I recommend the Sunset to have Fun ??
The place was great for a 12 year olds birthday party. The scoring screens had great add on features that the kids loved. They could also select bumpers or no bumpers per player that did not need staff to come out and switch. The came up or down automatically. There is also an arcade upstairs with numerous games to earn tickets for prizes. There were about 5 parties going on during this visit so it seems to be a hit.
It was quite busy a successful night for that business! Still we were treated well by Mike and the food was really really good. We had the cheese burger baskets and jalapeno poppers.
I bowled there just over a month ago, I do in fact have my own ball and your equipment tore it up pretty good. I left it with you counter along with my wife's ball (same condition) and was told your proshop would take a look at it. i have still not received a call on the status of my things. this was over a month ago.
Been coming here since I was a kid. Always friendly service and a clean, cozy atmosphere. $18/hr rates and $2 shoe rentals. Also, they prorate the bill for anything less than an a full hour
Had a great time. Great vibes, fun lights, music was great. Cheap prices. They do it well. Beer deals on Thursday got me drunk enough to make this. Godspeed
All they systems are up to date and easy to use, great for any family event. Also have a pretty good arcade room upstairs.. pizzas are very good also
My husband and I love coming here on Friday and Saturday night unlimited bowling! Always a fun date night, & my hubby loves the chicken sandwiches (I cant have them because I am Gluten Free, however - the nachos are Celiac friendly!)
Great place. It is old, but that makes it kind of cool. Very reasonably priced and staff is very friendly. The food is cheap and really good. Get their chicken alfredo pizza... that pizza gets five stars. Bowling alley is cool too. For the price it's a cool place.
Love it here! They have $2 Jell-O shots and had a great time with my crew here!
Ball was not being returned and when it finally did it was coated in belt goo. Needs to get cleaned and resurfaced now. afterwards went into bar for Karaoke. We were the only ones there. Wasn't terrible but not a great experience.
Always have enjoyed going to Sunset Lanes. My son (he's 8) and I have bought the summer pass (unlimited bowling with no shoe rental fee for $30) the last several years. It's a great value, goes from May 1st through August 31st and it usually takes us about a week or two before it pays for itself. The staff and experience has always been great too. The facility recently (within last 2-3 years) went through an upgrade too with new ball returns and new big screen TV's.
Here's the reason why I rated this place one star I came in Monday the 17th and made a reservation for a birthday party for the 22nd I invited family and Friends to the birthday party I showed up on the 22nd for my sons birthday party and they were close I called the number that was listed and I talk to a guy he stated they were closed down due to the government closing them down because of coronavirus I understand coronavirus is very serious but I did not even get a courtesy call two days or even a day be
Had to deal with a rude worker who came back to our lane multiple times while trying to relax this weekend. You couldn't force me to come back to this place. Edit: (Not sure what you're referring to with the response. Me and my family did not cause any damage to anything at the bowling alley.)
Fairly clean the price is right. It has not been super busy have always been able to get the lanes we want.
The remodel is very nice. The bar staff isn't very good though. If you are wanting to drink be prepared to wait 20 minutes for a drink if its during cosmic bowling. It never seems to fail when we go.
Loved the lanes. Oiled to profection. Shined my shoes after I was done bowling
Great place to have fun w/ family and friends. Great pizza too. Staff is friendly, can get a little busy at times.
Things were sticky, so bring some hand sanitizer and make sure to wash before you eat anything. My kids like the bumpers and the ball helping thingy. It was very crowded when we went because of a tournament, so if you don't like people, call ahead.
Haven't bowled in a while and it was alot of fun. Should have brought my own ball as most balls had either really small holes or really large holes, other then that we all enjoyed bowling.
Bowled the 40 Frame Tournament today. Was informed this will be the last year of it due to upgrading to newer equipment. I hope they can figure out a way to continue it. It's an awesome tournament and fun to do.
Great place to bring the family for bowling and arcade fun. The pizza is awesome!
Love this place, and they have an arcade now! They have done a lot of updating and it's awesome! We have been going here since we were kids.
Great atmosphere. The staff are well trained and work well with kids. Food is good and fast. Always fun.
This is really nice bowling alley around Moorhead. I went with a friend and he ordered some pizza which was really good(sorry could not remember the name of pizza). There was many weights options for balls.
I loves everything and the workers helped with everything and there party's are the best definitely recommend.
Cool place, wanted to bowl but place was packed. We were looking to play some pull tabs too. To busy, so we went to a bingo palace.
Great and friendly staff. Very affordable with a ton of New updates and a new huge arcade upstairs. Nicely done
I am personally not a huge fan of bowling but when I do go, I prefer Sunset Lanes over any other bowling alley in the area. They have a clean, nice atmosphere and a helpful staff. They also have good prices on their food and snack items. My college took a group here on an activity recently and everyone had a blast!
We were there for a juniors tournament and the manager of the lanes put a birthday party group of 20 screaming 6 year old girls two lanes away from our juniors. Our bowlers league averages range 155 to 189, but their average scores for the three games bowled next to that chaos were 120 to 155. It was pathetic, and basically an unfair DISadvantage for these junior bowlers.
Fun place! I took my phy Ed classes here and taught them how to bowl.
We had a work party here and had a great time. Wonderful service!
My best friend convinced me to do league on Monday nights. It's a great time! Foods good and staff is great
It has been years since my last bowling venture. My son decided to sharpen my skills on thia years birthday. We had fun!
loved the environment. good time spent..
Staff is always friendly and willing to help, every time I've ordered food it's tasted great, and I always feel like the prices are great too!
It is awesome place to bring your family or friends for a fun time. The staff is friendly and welcoming. It is clean place too.
This is a great place to go bowling at. Prices were very fair and and the atmosphere was just splendid. If you are looking for a place to get your bowling game on or place to kill time with your friends....This is the place for you!
Really clean and well kept. We had a problem with the lane while playing. Before we even pushed the button he jumped in and fixed it.
Veterans Honor Flight meets at Sunset and they are always very accommodating. Decent prices on bar drinks and food.
Just went to watch friends bowl, and have a snack. The cheese curds were the bomb! Mini corn dogs, so good.
My wife and daughter and I went to bowl at sunset Lanes on a Sunday afternoon, there was many families there with a lot of children. It was a very festive and fun place to bowl.
Y'all are the best. The bowling is always fun, your pizzas are delicious and the beers are cold. Also, Seth is fantastic ??
Had a great time. Marci the Saturday night bartender was awesome. Top service and always with a smile.
Fun for families & kids bday parties!!! Sunset Lanes is the cleanest of all bowling alleys in our area. They have friendly helpful staff & good food.
Nice place, friendly staff, decent food, not too spendy. Good place for a family night out!
Great atmosphere, great staff!!! If your looking for a FUN time bowling this is the place to be ??
Visited for a tournament. The lanes and bowling areas are nice, everything else is really dated and confusing. Just figuring out where to buy food is more effort than it is worth.
Had daughters 11 birthday there was reasonably priced for all we got and the kids loved the arcade.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
