Awesome time playing mini golf at Subpar!!! It's SF themed, the holes are designed well, it plays fun and they serve beer on tap, finger foods and boba teas. Prices are great, service is WONDERFUL and it's a must try! Highly recommend checking them out!!!
This was actually pretty fun to play on. It highlights all the wonders around San Fran. They had some fun difficult holes. The Lombard Street hole is really cool. My wife got a hole in 1 on it! The Alcatraz hole was really cool. For a small course, they did a good job on difficulty and uniqueness on holes. Only negatives I would give is that they play the music too loud and they play uncensored songs that are not appropriate for kids.
We had a lot of fun in the San Francisco themed mini-golf course! $15 per person.
I had fun here. Good detail on the obstacles which were various San Francisco landmarks. I went early in the morning, so I was able to take my time at each hole without feeling rushed.
Small space but so much fun! I love the different styles they had. We got a brown sugar and jasmine milk teas with Boba to drink and they were delicious.
Reserved this for my team outing for work. Had no idea what to expect so kept my expectations low, but we all enjoyed this very much. The 18 SF themed courses were well done,/creative, some more challenging than others. It's great activity for people of all ages. We had lunch before arriving but they do have food, I can't comment on that. But some folks got beer, ice coffee and smoothies and all were good. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but soon after several groups came. Since you move in a sequence if
Interesting hidden gem in the plaza! Great place to come with friends and family!
Just experienced this spot and had a blast! The mini-golf course featuring iconic SF landmarks is a cool touch. Free lockers for belongings, plus awesome options on the menu ? beer, wine, boba, and food. Perfect hangout in Ghirardelli Square with family and friends!
Subpar has 18 holes, each with an iconic San Francisco landmark. As far as mini golf goes, it's a small space. But considering it is Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco, there isn't a lot of space to begin with, and they were able to create 18 holes of unique structures and challenges. Street parking can be challenging, especially on weekends. The easiest parking is the paid garage parking lot. If you plan to go on a weekend or holiday, I recommend booking in advance. They have food and drinks for sale, in
Such a cute place it's a must visit with your friends, family, visitors from out of town they will love it. Located in Ghirardelli square SF offers such great views there's an arcade across from it, ice cream down stairs :) subpar offers yummy food as well ;) and prices are great! so order it away! parking is challenging because of location overall great because there's a parking garage.
This is a cute place which pretty much covers all the bases of the SF landmarks. The other pro is that there is an outside section with tables where you can relax and/or eat food with a spectacular view of the ocean and maybe Karl the Fog. Speaking of the food, they sell boba, "popcorn chicken", amongst other things. They are subpar but it will do in a pinch if you get hungry while mini-golfing. You can also go outside but all the food in vicinity is pricey anyway. There are in-n-outs for sure because ther
Love it!! An 18-hole mini golf experience with various San Francisco attractions for just $12/person (on 12/28/2021) --- totally worth it and definitely recommend doing this. It took us (group of 4) about an hour to finish this and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!
We took our kids here to have some fun in Alameda and it's a really neat place to visit. My children really enjoyed the slot car racing and the arcade. We would have liked to have tried the miniature golf but unfortunately we didn't have time. Overall it's definitely worth visiting if you're passing by and a good place to take your kids for some fun. My only complaint was that either the air conditioning was broken or off when we were there and it was a hot afternoon outside so the temperature inside the bu
First time was nice. Had to try the Glowing experience for the 1st experience. It was not a glow in the dark. The Golf ball is the light! The course was sturdy and spacious compared to other indoor mini golf courses.
This is my favorite mini golf spot in San Francisco! First off, it's located in Ghiradelli Square in Fisherman?s Wharf and has an amazing view of the bay. When you enter, you can order boba, draft beer, or even wine while you play through the holes. Each hole is an SF landmark, and you can go with a group up to 6! It's generally not busy, so it's pretty easy to make a reservation. I always recommend this place to my friends that are visiting because right after, you can explore the other shops at Ghiradell
Such a fun experience in SF. Fun mini golf course with good turf and fun holes. They also have a bar/Boba tea stand in there so you can get drinks before and during your round
Each hole was quite fun to play. The different familiar landmarks of San Francisco made it a really fun tourist activity. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting San Francisco for the first time.
Subpar golf was an awesome end to our visit to California! The course was challenging but fun and the expierence really was a fun way to recap all the sights we saw on our trip. The attention to detail was phenomenal, and the midweek pricing was crazy cheap! $6.50 for an adult and $3 for a second round! (Trust me, you'll want to play again) 5 stars hands down.
I had so much fun here! The staff was friendly, the environment was clean, and the mini golf was so much fun. It's how I picture mini golf is supposed to be. I also enjoyed all the miniature landmarks with the description of each. Would definitely go back if I'm ever in San Francisco again.
Do yourself a favor and walk downstairs to stumble upon this gem. For a vacationer, it's an awesome way to play your way through the city. This was such a cool idea and super well executed. Not to mention that you can sip on your favorite beverage through the entire course!
Stumbled across this place from work and was pleasantly surprised. Maria was our server and I couldn't get over how attentive she was! The food is what you expect but that isn't a bad thing ! Will be back for sure
Went here on a Saturday afternoon. It did not seem busy. Tried the chicken wings, pot stickers, onion rings and jalape?o poppers. Everything was really good. It's indoor and the design of the holes are very fascinating. It's a little small so be prepared to have a lot of people behind you if you're a big group. The place had a sign that tells you to let smaller groups go ahead but I think this makes everything complicated. No bathrooms in the location you will have to go to a different location. Overall, re
This is the coolest hidden gem!! So much fun to see the live tourest spots then play miniture golf on the mini version!! AND they serve food and beer, they even have cool drink holders while you putt. Alicia was amazing, she let us come check out the place even though it was only a few minutes before closing, totally made our trip, so glad we stopped in. A MUST visit when in San Fran!!!!! Note-this is the newsest location in Ghirardelli Square.
My partner and I had a blast on the Mini Golf course. We loved it, especially how each hole represents a place in the city of San Francisco. We didn't get any food and didn't use the arcade.
A fun place with great SF-themed mini golf stations. My favorite ones were Lombard street and Golden Gate Bridge. There are around 18 stations total and with another friend we were able to complete all of them in a little bit less than an hour. There's a boba tea bar as well with a few beer options too. The place was relatively busy for a Wednesday evening.
Great location for views and the course is cleverly designed after SF landmarks. They also let you get drinks and snacks for the course or outdoor seating ?????
So much fun and such creative courses
Wonderful experience! Great San Francisco themed mini golf. Service was quick and helpful. Course was clean a fun!
A hidden gem in SF. Make sure you make reservations in advance if you can.
Awesome stop! Most aesthetic miniature golf course I've ever seen. Great space to get out of the elements and wind and enjoy some time in Ghirardelli Square.
So much fun! Well designed course and definitely has some challenges. Will return when in the bay area again!
May 2022: Super fun place to putt putt a little golf ? ball. They have a lot of drinks that you can enjoy while putting the 18 holes. Course had some very interesting angles and traps! That made it a lot of fun. Price was $12 per person which was very reasonable! Would definitely come back again to play more mini golf ?!
Unfortunately this mini golf company lives up to its name. I tried to come here on a Friday evening and was denied entry because I have a service dog. Mind you, I am legally blind and have a guide dog who has spent his entire life training to give me independence. Unfortunately even though the ADA has been en effect for over 30 years, people like me are still being denied access to our civil rights. Please train your staff on these laws because assistant manager Pablo is unaware of them. Thanks.
This was such a cool place. We got to see all the sights of San Fran in mini golf form. Maria was great!
I like this place so good to handout with the friends and play mini golf. The ocean front view is spectacular. The price is very reasonable. I recommend try it out. ??
Pretty cool SF themed mini golf. They have an arcade and drinks. Covid vaccination cards required. A picture on your phone is ok.
We had a great time today celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday at the Mini-golf ? today
Very unique indoor miniature golf that showcases the SF landmarks on the golf courses as well as wall murals, a fun time for all ages.
Review is for mini golf and beers. This was a blast! We were prepared for it to be a ripoff/tourist trap due to the location, but the themed holes were well made and they went out of their way to make the experience easier. There were free lockers for bags and coats and each hole had 4 cup holders and a place to put your scorecard, which they put on a clipboard for you. The little touches were great.
Omg, such a cute gem! It may be a little difficult to find. It is in Ghirardelli Square, but on the lower level. Be aware, they don't have any bathrooms.
Fun way to spend the evening in the city. 18 holes that take you around the city, each hole represents a landmark in San Francisco. If you want to make it more challenging, have a few alcoholic drinks while golfing.
I had a great time playing mini golf! It wasn't too packed during the thanksgiving holidays and a reasonable price 45 dollars for 3 players. I will definitely be coming back for a children?s day back!
Nice mini golf. Pretty easy course and nothing too elaborate. The SF themed holes are fun.
We liked seeing lots of different attractions of SF.
Amazing activitie, for two or a group it's very funny and instructive! All the sightseeing location of San Francisco are depicted! Beer and wine available during your fun, staff are nice. 18 January 2020
Had fun on a Tuesday afternoon. Was not too busy. Holes are entertaining plus you can grab a beer or cider if you want. Nice views from the windows
Despite it being a small area it is very fun, also enjoyed the idea of the 18 holes being locations around SF.
It's a quirky 18-hole inside mini golf in Ghirardelli Square. Some of the features could use some updating and it's not inexpensive but overall it's a family fun place, especially with children. There's an arcade across the walkway.
Fun mini-golf course at Ghirardelli Square that is in a great location relative to the hotels in the Fisherman's Wharf area. The holes representing 18 tourist attractions was fun to play through and also reinforced the memories of the spots we visited and gave some ideas of places we hadn't. You can also get food and drink to bring with you. The price compared to other attractions in the area was pretty decent. A good spot to stop.
What a great mini golf course ??.
The fog killed fleet week so we went here and it's the perfect spot for a fun back up plan if weather is against ya! They give ya beers when you get your putter and some of the holes can be a challenge
Very pleasantly surprised by the kind and attentive service. Staff was upbeat and made us feel wanted and comfortable. Sipping a cider overlooking the Bay. Much to be thankful for. Maria, the manager, is running things right here. Food is as good as to be expected and came out fast and hot. 5 ?? all around.
Did you hear is amazing. It just doesn't quite fit the whole mini golf thing in this historical building.
Loved this place. Cold tap selection. And other beverages. Staff helpful. Kids had a good time.
Would not accommod. Closes at 9 but denied at 8:19 because we didn't have a reservation. They need an hour to clean up is what they said at San Francisco one
Jetlagged and very tired we played a round. Was fun putting through the sites of San Francisco that we planned to visit. Service was good, the place was clean and tunes were good. We even scored some hole in ones!
Great crazy golf, cheap and fun. 18 holes course
Our boys loved their first mini golf experience. While the place seemed small at first, the layout was excellent and you always had a place to lay down your scorecard and/or drink.
We showed up at 8:05 tonight and the attendant told us that they stop allowing walk-ins at eight even though there was obviously very few people playing golf. Furthermore the staff was rude, even though it's my wife?s birthday. My recommendation to the business owner is to have staff that treat patrons kindly and if you're going to stop allowing walk-ins an hour before close, maybe you should move close up one hour. Very disappointed with our visit to SUBPAR mini golf, name is pretty fitting.
Quite small, but all the mini golf courses are fun and uneque.
Clean friendly and fun! We took our visitors here and had a blast!
EDIT: They reached out to my admin for me to take down my review, if this review goes missing, that is why, which goes against policy. Instead of trying to get a review taken down, they should try redeeming themselves. I'm going to be so forreal, they really are subpar. We went here for a field trip for kids, middle school kids. We paid PER head from 11:00 to 12:30-1 pm. They were trying to tell us that we can't stay there when it was 12. The manager said that the kitchen usually isn't open, but they still
Me and my partner love this place the boba is great and so are the snack foods. The only issue I have is the last time we went which wasn't that long ago less than a month I'd say and we booked a 90 minute time window and we were able to do the course multiple times. But this time when we tried to do another round because we had an hour left in our time window we were told that it would be extra to do another round. I'm fine with that if it was advertised like that, instead of allowing us to book a 90 minut
Had a good time playing mini golf. Had good smooties too. Beautiful view of the bay with Alcatraz right across.
Such cool and organized place. Love it! Places to put purse, beer. On point!
Fun indoor mini golf spot. Love that they have beer and wine for adults.
Awesome spot for a little indoor golf. Great for small groups and kids.mote family oriented than Urban Putt in SF tho. No bar or food.
Maria made my experience amazing! If I could give her a sixth star, I would. She was very helpful and our group had a blast. I will definitely be back
Cute, quick and sometimes challenging. The loops on the golden gate bridge decided to have a mind all their own and send my ball straight back to the start. When you get to the ball park I suggest throwing down bets to see who can get a hole in 3 or less... that wall was just so tantalizing. We couldn't help ourselves. Don't forget to follow my account for more great ideas on an eventful day in the bay area!
Mar?a is soooo Nice !!! We really like the place it is very fun ?? and the bubble tea is soooo delicious
Such a fun and well themed place!
Slot cars, $5 for 12 minutes, what a blast!! That included one of their loner cars!! Fun times!!
Minimalist miniature golf course. Overpriced. They get upset with you if you bring food from Gheradeli and sit at the outside tables. It's in the Gheradeli square, hello!? I just paid 56 bucks to pay golf. Can't we enjoy a treat after?
The arcade was small and didn't have enough games prize options. However, it was surprisingly clean for an arcade and most games were working. Something to note is that the mini golf required a reservation to play which got in the way of plans. The boba tea place in the mini golf area is also horrible. The Thai Tea was not sweet at all and the boba was not fresh. Had the runs after drinking the Thai Tea with boba.
Absolutely fun party for 20. Alicia was a fabulous Subpar hostess. Subpar is very nice, clean and well organized. Great Mini golf course with clever and challenging holes. Lots of arcade options. We would highly recommend this location for family fun. We will definitely will go there again!
Came here on a cold, rainy February night looking for something to do because everything else was closed. The course designs aren't the most exciting/challenging, but we still had lots of fun. We really appreciated the little thoughtful details, such as clipboards, drink stands, and putter holders. And they have FREE LOCKERS! The miniature landmarks are adorable and were a fun way to "see" places we didn't get a chance to visit before our trip was over.
An awesome course. Love the replicas of SF Landmarks. It's spacious- no worries about crowding, food was great and the customer service was excellent. Both employees we dealt with were really helpful and kind. We had a fantastic time. Definitely will go back.
You know, we just got a weird vibe here. Almost like they didn't want our group to be there. We were the only people in the place, but they wouldn't let us sit outside on their patio, because that is only for parties? They would have made a lot of money from our group if they had just let us stay and enjoy ourselves, but we were more or less chased away. The golf course inside is fine. The prices are Bay Area ridiculous, so nothing exceptional there. Just don't be surprised if you get a less-than-warm welc
Went with group of eight been there a few times ..always fun had by all .they serve food and drinks. Tried chicken fingers and onion rings and iced milk coffee. All was tasty and large servings. Played 18 holes (I always win but others are improving) we all had great time.
Would give 3.5 stars but can't. It is fun, but quite cramped and not as clean as it should be. Reservations are required, but we only had to wait 30 minutes. The course itself is fun and challenging. Drinks and food are available. Milk coffee and Thai ice tea are way too sweet. Alcohol also available.
Fun little put put in ghirardelli square. Each hole has a theme of a local attraction.
So much fun!! So happy we found this place. Such a friendly staff, they were great!! My 12 year old had a blast golfing through SF landmarks. This location was super clean..and practiced social distancing. We felt very comfortable being there. Highly recommend this place.
Fun way to spend a rare weekday afternoon with my lovely when we both had a day off work. Love the SF themed obstacles. FYI, Thursday at 11:00 am you can virtually have the place to yourself.
Best mini golf place in the Bay Area hands down! The staff are always so helpful and friendly, the place is very well cleaned up as well and it's just a great experience thank you so much, can't wait to go back
We found this place on accident but it was one of the highlights in San Francisco! Very cute miniature golf course of all the iconic places around the city. It was our last night and it really closed out the trip in such a cool way! It's all indoors which means the greens are in great condition and the staff was very friendly.
Fun course with monuments from all around San Francisco. They sell drinks and food and have little stands all round the course to hold them whole you golf. My team had a great time!
Cute and accurate miniature replications of popular tourist attractions! I love the popular paintings with golf attire! Friendly staff!
If you are looking for a group activity for your family or company, this is a great place for it. Alicia, the manager there, was super friendly, helpful and accommodating. We went in for a group of 30+ people and had such a great time. Food was tasty despite the fact that they were so unhealthy (maybe that was the reason why it was tasty). But they were hot, made fresh, kinda fried food that were perfect for the activity.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
