Really can't complain. We had went with the preschool for bowling night, and everybody seemed to have a great time. Tons of lanes, food, and even saw a bar. Would certainly return.
We had our son's birthday party here. Everything was set up perfectly and ran smoothly. Absolutely would return and recommend, our family had a blast, thank you!!
Decent prices for bowling in the area. They have a good amount of lanes, which allows it not to feel too crowded. Our group ordered a pizza which took a little bit to get but was very tasty, especially for a bowling alley. Workers are very friendly.
Great counter staff. Well-run youth leagues. Deducted ONE star because the owners need to get the smokers to move away from the door. Please build a wind shelter for them so that they smoke around the corner rather than directly in front of the entrance. Thanks.
Fun bowling alley and great staff. I will return again. Thanks google maps for showing me this place. I would never consider visiting this place.
I had an amazing time at Sterling Lanes during their 2nd annual bowling fundraiser for Macomb Foster Closet. The facility offers a perfect blend of casual and competitive bowling with modern amenities, including an impressive arcade area. The lanes are well-maintained, and the scoring system is easy to read with LED displays at every lane. Whether you're a serious bowler or just looking for a fun night out, Sterling Lanes delivers a fantastic experience for all skill levels.
Decent prices but didn't care for being pushed out of the lanes we were in before two of our lanes were done because someone else was being put there but plenty of lanes were still open. Lanes need updating in my opinion. Still look the same as when I went there in the 80's.
New arcade us awesome. Love the summer kids bowl for free program.
Nice house... I know prices are more expensive now, little higher than I am used to. But non the less nice place and was NOT busy while there.
Michelle is a wonderful hostess, server, and ?chief bottle washer?, (basically she's the boss of her world there!) She's very friendly and personable, and a very nice lady! Thank you from the Delaware visitor ??
Great for Saturday kid leagues, upgrades are nice they are moving forward with a new owner, I hope they turn this into a place we're people always want to come and enjoy been in the neighborhood over 40 years.
With the closures of nearby Sunnybrook and Pampa Lanes, Sterling Lanes has become the bowling alley where there isn't many bowling alleys. While the bowling industry is shrinking, Sterling seems to be bucking this trend by modernizing its concept, which includes a newer seating and bar layout, HD screens for all lanes, and newer pinsetters & ball returns. The friendly staff, cleanliness, location, comfortable atmosphere, and very reasonable prices make Sterling Lanes an ideal place for a fun night out.
This place is okay, but the workers are horrible. They have a pretty nice arcade but could not be bothered to work it. The machines broke down on us twice. The one worker did (a little angrily) give us a refund for the machine taking our money. Then another worker turned the whole arcade OFF while we were in the middle of playing. Seriously....? Then was just like oh sorry I didn't see you guys and kept it off. Also, don't plan to ever use your tickets because that would be a big issue for them too.
The staff wasn't welcoming, the lanes were old, and ordering food was confusing due to the poor customer service.
Always a good time at this establishment with friendly workers as well. On a side note: Parking lot could use some maintenance. crackfilling, sealcoating and a restripe would help maintain the lifespan of the asphalt work that was done a couple years prior. We specialize in that line of work if you are interested give our office a call at 586-745-0178!
They have an awesome new arcade! It's great for all ages. I'm almost 50 and they have ski-ball!! Connect 4 basketball just like a mini Dave and busters but the redemption center is better aligned for kids. With your points that you accumulate, use them to get some cool prizes like rock'em sock'em robots!!
I don't get to bowl as often as I like, but when I go I hope my experience is one to remember enough to go back. I am gonna say that this place likely suits a lot of people, but I for one need a little more of a modern atmosphere for my money. The food is all frozen to heat, they didn't have a very big selection of microbreweries ( not even two hearted), and there wasn't enough tables for the lanes. Lastly, the whole place needs updated except the game room. It was up to par for the place indeed.
They shut down the arcade on my family while we where all playing a game. The lady said I'm sorry I didn't think anyone was In here... Next time walk around and check? Also they have no one there to help with a game if it breaks. The arcade boy was too busy collecting chairs to help, then after said he couldn't fix it.
2024 Jr Gold - this place has been amazing! They helped change out finger grips for my son's ball. Ball raffles, clean bathrooms. Lanes in good shape, no machine breaks!
Very nice and clean bowling alley. Has 50 lanes, You can order food at their kiosk or you can order at the counter. Counter requires cash, kiosk uses credit/debit cards. Many menu options available. Friendly people.
I just had my daughter's birthday party here and it was absolutely stress-free. They took the time to call me multiple times to ensure they had everything we needed ready beforehand. The staff was extremely helpful and their customer service skills were top notch. The kids and parents had a blast. We will continue to have my daughters birthdays here every year! Oh and the prices were fantastic. And they didn't rush us out the door after the party. They gave me all the time I needed to clean up and say our g
Still a great place to go, Friday night staff is awesome!! We love bowling here
Cold is an understatement. Shaking and shivering is not how we wanted to support our kids at nationals. Also there was zero feeling from the outside that there was even a national competition occurring. Vending machines were broken. At the point in time that patrons were wearing jackets and literally had blankets on them someone could have adjusted a thermostat. Felt really uninviting for such a special event
I've been coming here for years and years. It was a staple in my childhood and teenage years. It's a bit dated now, but it kind of ads to the charm of the place. It's also gotten a bit pricey considering they haven't updated, so I don't go like I used to.
Great place to go with family
Jad a great experience for a bday party.
The website currently lists that Monday-Thursday there is open bowling from 5pm to close (See attached screenshot I took TODAY). I arranged an outing for a local adults social group and brought 15 people here at 5pm on a Tuesday, only to be turned away and told that there are leagues on Tuesday nights and that open bowling ended at 5pm. The website currently displays their hours for Easter (coming up in a few days) so clearly they are ABLE to make changes and update the website.... they just don't. Real
An hour of bowling for two adults and one child was almost $50, i dont know if that's the average for bowling now but it seemed high. The children's bowling ramp they gave us was broken and the staff was a little weird with the person I was with when she went up to ask for a children's ball for the child we had with us, but the arcade is handy for families and the lanes and screens are nice.
Wife went with her little sister who is on the spectrum and asked kindly if they could have bumpers. They rudely denied because they have an age restriction? Like who cares if this is going to help their experience why wouldn't you help them out? I dislike leaving low reviews but I really hope this place thinks about how they treat their clients especially those on the spectrum. Crazy.
Had to go somewhere else because they wouldn't let me bring in a cake I had for my son?s second birthday. I had a party of 15 people at the door that I'm sure I was gonna spend at least $300 or more between paying for bowling and food. Glad I found a bowling alley to accommodate my needs last minute.
Went to watch someone play. Seems like a nice spot. Computers function but are significantly outdated. 50 lanes here.
I would give negative points if I could. I am just trying to understand why you have a bar and not open it. You tell us we can order beer or wine at the main cashier but THE EVIL, LAZY UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE TALKING lady doesn't want to walk back and forth to get the wine bottles. I won't be back here.
The male employee at the front counter was super helpful & friendly from the moment we arrived. The lanes were well maintained, kid-friendly & readily available. Bathrooms also in decent shape. Con: pony tail manager approached our guest about paying w/intrusive behavior, without even verifying w/ his co-workers. Had he done so, he'd known she was paid for.
Close to home. Have bowled here on a couple of occasions. Lanes seem pretty well kept. The shoes you rent are pretty worn. Typical grungy bowling alley. The older gal that works the bar is super friendly. Fun place and fairly inexpensive entertainment.
The food was so bad, like I can't believe a pretzel could be this bad. The 'cheese' barely looked like food, let alone actual cheese. The machine glitched at the start of our second game, so we ended up leaving. Certainly not coming back.
Very courteous nice helpful people .The price is right. It's a fun place to go. Thy also have real reasonable prices. Well everything is going up, a whole 5$ OH well ?? unless some Boston ?? gifts me a new purple ?? bowling ball and fresh bowling ?? shoes ?? I won't get going every week. Now a tad bit bid much ?? ?? ?? plus ?? gasoline prices are way up there. Just saying .....
This location participates in the free bowling for kids during the summer months, which is awesome. We came during an off-peak time, so it was relatively quiet, which was nice, however some of the staff didn't even greet me or say hello, even when I stood at the counter and smiled at them. The lady that did (eventually) come over to help us out was nice, though!
Most of the waitresses are awesome but Amanda is the absolute best!!! However it is SO disappointing that the bar manager can't keep heavy whipping cream stocked in the bar! Bar manager forces the waitresses to bring it in each night cause she doesn't have her stuff together.
We really loved open bowling here until they got too busy with leagues... They would have a lot more happy customers if they regularly updated their website/Facebook with their open bowl hours as they are rarely accurate. I applaud them for keeping so busy, just wish they were more attentive to casual bowlers.
Had my baby shower there about a month ago and was super disappointed. I felt like I was in a storage room. They didn't even empty the garbage can before we came in. Lots of fruit flies grossed me out and the salad we paid $30 for was just lettuce and a few cucumbers. We were treated so well when we signed the papers for this room, but after that we were given poor service and an attitude.
The lanes were not bad, the staff didn't seem like they knew how to handle a big crowd when the rush came in for the open bowling after league's. I think their lack of executing system to move along the lines is a lack of leadership/management.. they did As well forget an order of food for our lane. But the bartending staff was on point! Hard working and very nice
Lanes are in good shape and they have lots of them. Not cluttered and crowded. Some of the equipment (scorekeeping machines, etc are dated) & the bathrooms have seen better days. Staff, especially at the snack bar, was very helpful and friendly.
Great lanes abs friendly staff
Great lanes! Love our ladies league here. Even the food is great! Kristy, Amber, and Michelle are incredible servers! Prices for food and drink are fantastic! If your looking for a ladies league to join on Thursday, I definitely recommend this one!
Friendly people at the desk, clean classic American fun. Well maintained facilities and they have a banquet room for wedding receptions we're considering renting out and having a bowling alley wedding reception! Highly recommend!
Fantastic place and fantastic staff!!
I take my son there and he loves it! The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the prices for food. I love that they pass out the free game tickets to nearby businesses. Its great fun on a budget. Never had an issue with rude staff.
Thank you for hosting Junior Gold! The staff are friendly and helpful. Parents & athletes appreciate you!
On Friday I decided to go bowling for the first time in awhile, I called ahead and asked if they had open bowling and the lady who answered was very nice and told me yes. When I got to the front desk I was greeted very rudely by a supervisor named Jimmy, I Politely asked if he had open bowling and apparently it was the biggest inconvenience to him, he looked around and huffed and puffed And Rudely said I guess so.. Not to mention they had about 50 open bowling lanes.. I then asked him if it was a problem an
Staff is very friendly and quick. I once left my credit card and was glad the staff stayed late for me to come pick it back up. Only complaint is their hours online don't always match up with the hours for open bowling so best to call ahead. Otherwise always a great time.
Went to see my grandson bowl.
To the owner: the manager Len is great. I come weekly for league and hes a great employee. Always on top of things, efficient, friendly. I would give this guy a raise good management isnt the easiest to find
Review on Sterling Lanes Sterling Heights Mi. Great preforming bowling alley! The 82-70s were fantastic and the lanes hooked great! Very friendly lady at the counter. It's a great center but I've seen better but for a city center its not bad.
Had a BLAST! Just finished my 1st Annual Friendraiser for our company. The staff was great, the pizza was good and my guests had a great time. Thanks!
Nice facility! While the alley might be dated right now, it's obvious there are efforts to modernize underway!
This bowling alley is a cut above the rest. We spend a lot of time in bowling alleys as my daughter is on a team. This one is huge, clean and offers so many different things including a hall for events. Seating was ample considering how many of us were there. Staff seemed nice.
Worst experience I've ever had... the rudest and crappiest staff and customer service ... terrible food... over oiled lanes... went there to have a good time with friends (3 of which left almost immediately due to the rude and crappy service the manager provided)... everyone that stayed left in a horrible mood from the shady employees and pathetic excuse of a manager. Literally every single person that came swore they would never come back to that place ever again. I would strongly recommend you stay away f
Took kids here for a birthday party and had a great time! Clean, affordable facility and pleasant, accommodating, staff. Very impressed!
We chose this location for the kids bowl free summer program and what a great pick. I took the kids and their friends several times over the summer and we never had a bad encounter. It doesnt look very impressive from the outsise, i have to say i was pleasantly surprised. The staff is friendly, the inside is updated, clean, and spacious. There is a separate banquet area. They have 6lb balls behind the counter. The concession stand is decently priced. There are a lot of tables to sit and eat. They had good
They have a great staff with good drink prices. We went on a Wednesday late afternoon. We had chilli cheese fries 3.99 and some popcorn $1 . 2 games with shoes for 4 ppl was $36. Would rate higher if they were a little less in prices. Granted they do have a nice large alley and many lanes!
It was great, it was so good I got a 142 my first game
League days are VERY busy! The lanes are smooth and great to bowl on and their prices (at least during weekdays when I tend to go) are the best in the area, hands down. Their food is a tad bit pricey but it's pretty good. Parking spaces are plentiful and the staff is pretty nice for the most part.
I have bowled in a lot of different houses. But since coming over to Sterling lanes I have had the best service from them. The entire staff will make you feel at home. They greet you coming in and leaving. And the are great with setting a family up for a fun night bowling. And the other nice feature is the pro shop were they don't just try to sell you a bowling ball they want to know your needs for that new ball and show all pros and cons on what you are buying. Even after your ball is done they would like
Great service, friendly and had an awesome time. Tad bit hot, could use better fans and air circulation. This is my only critique. Would have been 5 stars.
I went for my 1st quartermania...I didn't know what to expect but I had a very good time, except towards to end. There were people with small children, according to what I was told they were one of the vendors children. They were getting tired n started running around. No big deal there. What was REALLY upsetting, I purchased 40.00 worth of drawing tickets. There's no guarantee to win it just you take a chance. But one of the baskets went missing. And I had over 10 tickets in it. To find out when I asked wh
Updated Review: I tried sterling lanes again, the lanes are drier than my last visit. Please try to oil at least once a year This bowling alley has plenty of lanes, however they are too dry. Also a renovation wouldn't be a bad idea.
We bull here every fall with the All-Star bowlers it is a special league for special adults they remodel the inside put new carpeting in which looks really cool they have Cosmic night there so was the black light that they use for cosmic bowling and the carpet that they put in that has all these neon colors it's going to look really cool especially when it's lit up
Me and the family had a great experience. The staff were friendly and patient. The building was clean and has plenty of lanes. Plus they participate in the kids bowl free summer program.
This bowling alley is huge which makes it great for fundraisers. However, the building needs a face lift and updates in the inside. Very outdated bowling computers. The pizza we got during the fundraiser was super greasy too. Place could have a lot of potential if they went the extra mile.
Very nice house new up dates. Staff is friendly and they treat their leagues great. The Pizza is just as good as any pizzeria actually better then most and the other food is good.
The staff and people there are nice! But anyways im 10 years old i was bowling the best game of my life, i had 100 by the 7th frame i was aiming for a 120 so this older manager comes by and resets our game for no reason AT ALL this put me mad about how this was the best i have ever bowled in my life! VERY dissapointed on how this guy treated me and my mom!
90s retro decor and lots of fun! Would bring the family here again.
The alley did a wonderful job of handling the US Youth Open while we were there. Friendly staff, even during such a busy and stressful time. Good job
I bright my children, ages 6 and 2, at 4:30pm on a Friday. There were other families bowling while we were there. The staff was very friendly and helpful - setting up the bumpers amd finding a ramp for us to us. The three of us bowled two games and rented shoes for less than $20, so the price was great. Clean interior, equipment in good repair. Recommned this for families or others looking for a couple hours of fun.
Thank you to Anna and her staff for another tournament on new years eve that was well organized and pleasant . Thank you cheryl for your quick and pleasant service from the bar. Thank you sterling lanes. Happy New Years.
I went for an event. I ordered food it was not very good, but the wine was decent. There was only one waiter and he was working it. He bought my food without the plastic wear. It was a very busy night.
Very clean inside got a new game room for the young and old kids, the young lady at the food counter was very pleasant
Came here for a work event and this place is gross. The party hall was dirty and didn't look structurally sound. The group wasn't able to bowl until the end when people had to start leaving because the place overbooked lanes and made us wait even though we were here earlier.
Sterling Lanes meets the basic needs plus they have very friendly staff and a bar where you can order water, beverages or alcohol. They also have a few food selection like chips or sandwiches. They have a handful of lanes but mostly available to public after 9pm on weekdays where prices per game go as low as $3. Shoe rentals are about $3. Big parking lot and conveniently located adjacent to Big Lots so you can do last-minute shopping of furniture, picture frames or gummy worms. Many things they sell at Big
Had a great time, affordable, the staff is kind fun place.
$6 a line, they didn't give any break for a 3 year old, still $6 a line. I don't see this as family friendly at all!
To start out it was very outdated. Then me and a friend got the special which was 10.95 for all you can bowl. We payed and got put on a lane. As we were putting our shoes on we got a very important text and we realized we could only stay for about a half hour. We kindly ask the man at the counter if we could change it to 2 games instead of the unlimited rate. He proceeded to tell us it was too late and we could not change it and he would not give a refund. That's not even the worst of it the first lane we w
Seems like a nice place to be we didn't get a chance to bowl because it was tournament night but we will be returning
Nice facility! We were there for the MHSAA JV Bowling Championships, the place was packed, the staff did a great job managing the crowd.
Has became a bit run down over the years. Still has a smoking smell to it. Been bowling here all my life. High school, family functions, leagues, open bowling, etc. Friendly staff so there's nothing in their control. Wish it would improve because I could literally walk here.
I like that they have over 100 lanes It's always clean The staff is nice
Love this place! Bowl here all the time and have had my kids birthday parties here. The staff is great! Definitely would recommend it!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
