It's a weird circumstance when I get frustrated with my kids sitting in front of tablets at home and decide to take them to a video game arcade, however it was amazing. What better way to spend time with your kids playing games together while they watch in amazement how games used to be when we were kids? My daughter showing me game after game and explaining to me how amazing it is with limited technology. Impressed by the art and music and more importantly how fun it is to play together, lose and win toge
If you love vintage arcade games - this is the spot for you! Get there early in the day and buy a wristband for all day play! You can leave and come back and play some more until they close. I loved the DDR and classic Donkey Kong games. I also played zip zap a lot, and that was fun! Highly recommend checking this place out while you're in St Paul.
Finally got to come here after knowing about it since its opening. I was quickly proven right with how hyped I was about this place and I think it beats out all the other arcades that run similar operations with cover charge for unlimited play. There are so many arcade games here that immediately brought me back to fond memories of my childhood. There were also all sorts of games I never even knew existed that also drew my desire for playing. A majority of the arcade games also had little fun fact cards exp
Had a wonderful sober birthday get together with friends playing the widest assortment of games I've ever seen at an arcade before. The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and excited about the games there too, so it was fun to get to know the games I wasn't familiar with better. For $20, you get a lot of playtime for the whole day! The food/snack options are not the focus so they're not top notch but it was nice to grab a snack if needed. The games are in great condition, can't wait to go bac
Customer service was great! I payed 20 dollars to get into the main arcade area and I got to play all the games in the area for hours, they also had good pizza that we got to eat for free, and whenever a problem came up with one of the old games they came around back and got it fixed almost immediately, over all I had a blast here and I will be coming back! :)
This is probably my favorite place ever to go to. It's always a blast everytime I go. You can replay any of the arcade games as much as you want! And the variety of games is huge! Me and my friend go every week and every time it's always the highlight of my week. The staff are also extremely friendly and chill. They can also be really nice to talk to if you need too! I really hope people can come check out this place as it holds a special place for me, and is one of my most recommended places to people who
I was so impressed with Starcade, not only with the video game selection but with the kindness of the staff as well. Adam went above and beyond to help my special needs brother navigate the arcade and patiently answered all of his questions. Once he started playing the games, my brother was over the moon with excitement and everytime I checked on him he said, "this place is SO amazing!!" Thank you to the staff for being so caring and making our experience so wonderful.
Old school arcade games all in one place!?!? You pay $15 per person and can play all the games or as long as you want! What a deal! Keg & Case is pretty lame at the moment because there are absolutely NO businesses in the giant place but Starcade and the pinball machines make up for it. For now. Would be cool if there was a spot to grab a beer though.
I think my wife and I found one of our new "go to" date locations!! We visited here for the first time on 3/29/25 and were able to play the 250+ retro arcade games for $20/each. The pinball outside the arcade games are standalone and cost quarters. Plenty of variety of arcade games and pinball machines. We had a blast, playing through old favorites like Dig Dug and finding new favorites like Stompin' (that I even earned the high score of 81,950 on). We are already planning our next trip back with some frien
Most amazing arcade I've ever been too! If you grew up playing arcade and pin ball in the 80?s and 90?s you need to stop here! $20 you can play for hours. They literally have hundreds of classic games from 70?-2000?s on two floors. Plus crazy amounts of pinball machines. Five Stars from me.
Awesome arcade in the old Keg and Case Market. Fairly priced and the games were varied with some newer and some old. The vast majority were in well working order. Games in Starcade were free to play with a wristband. Pinball machines at Bad Penny Arcade which is in the same space took quarters. There is a change machine onsite.
Great place has a bunch of video games on first and second floor and some that are straight out of Japan. Only thing I wish they had within the $15 unlimited play section would be the pinball machines. These were only available prior to entering the play zone and they were individually prices. There were a few machines that didn't work such as Tron.
They have a nice selection of arcade video games. At the time of our visit, all of the pinball games were priced separately - per play. Most of the ones we played were $1 each play (and seemed to be operated by a separate company). This was explained on arrival at Starcade. I didn't see this info on the webpage, so I thought it would be helpful to post in this review, so that people can know what to expect.
Had a great time playing games I haven't seen in a long long time?? Kids enjoyed them as well and with good food choices right there it was a great experience. If you miss the games of the 70s,80s, and 90s it's a fun ride down memory lane.
What a treasure this place is! The price for admission is such a great deal. All you can play arcade games for only $20 is fantastic. There are tons of great games to play, old and newer. The snack bar has solid prices too. If you want a day to just get away and game the day away, this is your place. Tons of free parking is available too. You owe it to yourself to check this place out.
My low review has nothing to do with the team or place but the fact that it misrepresented its offerings. There is currently as of 2/21/25 no alcohol and the pinball is a separate business and purchase. The reason for 2 stars is how incredibly kind and understanding the staff was. The gentleman that serves us deserves a raise for how gracious he was with our disappointment. I look forward to coming back in the future when the offerings match the representation.
$20 and you get to play whatever you want. It was not overly crowded, and Games are in great working order and are on 2 floors. Some snacks are available for purchase, and near by small cafe. We had a blast
All different kinds of arcades from the old ones that use vector graphics to more recent ones, including a few hidden gems (IE: ninja baseball Batman) and all kinds of pinball machines that kept me busy. The employee was also super friendly and helpful, and overall the atmosphere was amazing. I couldn't believe how many arcade machines there were! There are a few missing I would have loved (ie: Simpsons arcade) but given the amount of choices you get, that's hardly worth complaining about. I need to retu
One of the best retro arcades anywhere definitely run by enthusiasts who know what they are doing. Loaded with all kinds of classic and newer games all very well maintained. The Japanese rhythm games are the best and the classic games display the world record holders. The craft soda bar is great and the guy running the place was super friendly. Overhead him tell someone else that a liquor license is coming too! Get there early because it closes at 9. Only minor sadness is that none of the pinballs are inclu
Low-key retro arcade in Keg N Case Marketplace. Free Parking in the lot and only $15 for all you can play! (Excluding pinball) This place has some of the most pristine machines around and even the hard to find gems. I was pretty impressed with the 2 floor setup and never felt rushed or crowded with any of the games. Definitely preferred over the other local (b)arcades throughout the Twin Cities.
They have a lot of vintage arcade games, including some really old black and white stuff. Pinball, too. Awesome if you love those old games.
This was so much fun! Normally you have to go to a gaming convention to get this sort of selection but this is local and way cheaper!
Great selection of games, fun place! Check out Death Ball, really fun game.
Very cool place! Fun for kids (11 and 6) fun for adults. Lots of games from the 80s/90s. Mix of old favorites and ones I've never heard of. Some fun unique/oddball ones. Cool selection of Japanese games too. Machines VERY well kept! I didn't encounter a single loose or stuck controller or button. They also serve light snacks, frozen pizzas, and fun sodas. I will definitely be back and wish I came here sooner. I'm not even a huge gamer but my family and I had a blast!
Went on a Sunday afternoon and had a really good time. Lots of machines, dating back from early 80s to late 90s, and even some modern games, like killer Queen. No tokens, which is great, just a flat $15 to get in. Considering most of these machines are at least 30 years old, they were in mostly good condition. Sure there were some with joystick issues, but overall I thought the machines were well maintained. The variety is the best thing, they had almost all my favorites, even the hard to find 6 person X-
This place was a lot of fun. For $20 you can play unlimited games as long as you'd like. We had 3 adults and a 4 yr old and everyone had fun (kids under 5 are free), although I will say this place is a bit more adult oriented with older retro games. You can BYOB/F or buy craft sodas and pizza or nachos there. We stayed for like 4 hours.
Fantastic place. Great arcade with tons of retro arcade machines, and a very good selection of pinball tables as well. I hope they're around for a long time.
$20 for all you can play. I paid $20 mostly to hang out with a few friends (37-40 year olds), didn't think I'd play games. I only ever played with a spare quarter if my dad had one growing up. Ended up playing a bunch & had a great time. It was so fun for me because I could play a level enough to actually get to a second level without fear of no more quarters. And some games that require extra quarters for booster moves, gave those with abundance. Lots of laughs for the group arcade games (X-Men 6 player
What a fun place! We had a great time here and the staff working was so wonderful. We will be back and will bring our friends!
Over hundreds of retro arcades, with $15 you can have unlimited play for a day. Monday and Tuesday are closed Wednesday to Sunday 11am until closing. Tons of choices for the whole family and bring back some childhood memories ??
Great entertainment! I celebrated my birthday here and had a blast. Huge selection of classic games and unlimited play for $15?! You can't beat that value.
Can't recommend enough. Unmatched variety and number of retro and rhythm games. Very friendly and accommodating staff. My favorite place in st paul!!
Starcade is an Absolute gem of a place. Awesome games kept in decent shape and a very friendly and helpful staff. I'm grateful to have them in the community.
Awesome new space! Really feels like an arcade from the 90s. Lots of classic well maintained games, and new imports too. Tried some fun recent rhythm games. Friendly staff, great value!
This is a review of Bad Penny Arcade, the collection of pinball other machines outside of Starcade. It's great! Mike does a stellar job of keeping all of the pinball in the best shape. Pretty lax when it comes to bringing in outside food or drink (since there are very few options), just don't make a mess and/or be a jerk. The machines take quarters so bring cash. Pinball forever
Loved it, I played at least 8 games I had never seen before, including retro and rare. The entire family had a blast for 3 hours. Highly recommend, especially for a cold winter night or a humid summer day.
First time visiting the arcade with the family. Excellent selection of games for everyone to find something they enjoy. We have a variety of tastes in games and everyone left satisfied. I am one who appreciates the lower volume level of most games as you don't leave with ear fatigue with 200 games going full blast, so thank you! Staff was friendly and greeted us with a smile. The condition of games is excellent in comparison to some other local options. Give some of the games you've never heard of a play, s
Great game selection and especially awesome staff! Shout-out to Nick for being extremely friendly and informative with our group! Will come back!
I've been here twice and I have a lot of fun every time. So many arcade systems and pinball machines!
Best and largest arcade in the twin cities. Many 80s and even 70s games, including some Japanese and Korean market games.
My husband and I LOVED this place! Tons of games and plenty of space to move around. Wheelchair accessible! We didn't get food, but it smelled delicious. We can't wait to bring our friends next time!
It's like stepping back in time and going to an 80s arcade! All you can play for one price. It was fun and we spent like 3 hours here.
The new place is bigger. Bigger means more games. Great place to visit! Wonderful 1980's nostalgia.
honestly, the best (b?)arcade i?ve been to in years. super clean, everything is well taken care of, staff is friendly. one of the best arrays of classic cabinets and music games i?ve ever seen. will be coming back here on the regular. (get more pins please. :)
Truly a fantastic experience! I'm avid gamer and I enjoy every genre of game there is. They literally have the most beautiful smorgasbord of arcade classics and recent games that I've ever seen. My favorites were the collection of real Japanese rhythm machines, some I had only heard of. Come as soon as they open and just play all freaking day. You'll find something to play, of that I assure you. I'm talking to all fighting game aficionados especially
The best arcade in MN. Great selection of games, some very rare games, and such a cool location for an arcade.
Friendly staff, the place has cool retro games, and most importantly the place is clean.
They have the best classic games of all! I didn't expect they have acrade games here when my brother and I went there, I was surprised the first time I saw this. It's amazing!
Great place but I really want to see a couple pinballs in the all play section. Right now they are all in the pay per play.
This place is great, it's a good value deal for what you can get. Be advised, depending on what nostalgia you're going for, this particular arcade is biased towards much older 80's games. I didn't recognize many from my own childhood in the mid 90's. Nevertheless the selection is fun!
Awesome arcade, great staff, and just an overall great vibe. Family friendly.
Had an absolute blast. Has every old school arcade vibe. Very 80s. Super friendly staff. Play as many machines as long as you want all day for 15 dollars. Has pinball outside of the arcade for a dollar a play also super neat . Just loved it as close as I could get to the authentic 80s arcade without a time machine.
All I have played is pinball, none of the other games. Pinball machines are in great condition with a variety of newer and older machines and they are priced right. I would have given it a five star for wasn't for it's limited hours. And the fact that they just shut off on a timer without warning. So I lost the games that I had just paid for and it shut me off in the middle of one of my better games. Minor irritation but irritation none the less. I'll go back tho.
Awesome two floor classic arcade! You can tell the owners have a passion for these games. Almost all of the cabinets are in beautiful condition. It got a little crowded as the day went on and the amount of young kids there made me nervous about the conditions of the controls, they don't know better to be careful with these delicate antiques! Will definitely be back.
Fun time bonding with the kids, but I have to say the games are mostly super old cheesy games that I never played because they suck. All the classic games I spent hundred in quarters on are not here. They charge by the hour, and I'm guessing it's because many of the games would never get any play. Just outside of here are a bunch of great pinball games, most of them are a dollar to play one game... 300% inflation, I guess that's about right with the times.
Nostalgia overload and a beautiful space. We will definitely be back, we didn't have enough time to play every game but if you were born in the 70s or 80s this is the place to be!
This is a gem of a place. We discovered it when we were in town and enjoyed every moment we spent there. It's the coolest place I have been to in a long time and there were games for my 5year old son, my husband and myself.
This was a gem to find! The price to play all day is phenomenal! Great selection of vintage games. Atmosphere was what you'd want in an arcade. The person at the door was so friendly and helpful. It's a great place for 'kids at heart' (adults) and for the younger generations. We are already planning on going back!!
The video games in this arcade are true classics mixed with some amazing high tech pinball games. I literally played video games I haven't played in 40 years! You can get an all day pass for $15 and play as many games as you want. Great deal!
Absolutely loved this place. Super friendly staff and a huge variety of games.
Great place with a huge selection of games. Was a bit leary on 15.00 entry with all setto free play but i am sure i played my moneys worth and then some.
Huge amount of classic games and nearly all were in great shape. Had a great time there!
Starcade is an excellent arcade experience. It reminds me of the heyday of arcades in the 80's with an incredible variety of games without needing all the quarters. The games are in great shape and it would be easy to spend many hours here. They have places to sit for a while if you need a few minutes away from the games as well. If you want to relive the arcade days or never had a chance to, stop by. You won't regret it.
Ridiculously fun for a great price!!! A friend and I stumbled on this arcade while trying to kill some time and had a total blast! The employee we spoke with was so pleasant and generous, and the games were addictive! We spent about an hour there and it felt like 15 mins. We didn't want to leave and will certainly be back soon! 10/10 would highly recommend. I thought I didn't enjoy arcade games but this place proved me so wrong.
The perfect place to play video games. If you want to play old favorites or discover games you never knew existed this is THE place. Can't say enough good things about it. Make a date to have the ultimate video game experience!
15 bucks for all day is a good deal. Mostly older games from the Joust/Super Mario era, but some newer rhythm/dance games. (Only 1 dance game). And some really old ones.I think they need some more newer games and some linked driving games, but it is a fun time with friendly staff.
This place was honestly so fun! We had more fun with our kids and spent a fraction of what we would at a dave busters! $15 play all day with a brewery upstairs AND a parking lot at Ken and Case. You can't beat this for a day of arcade fun with the kids!
You absolutely definitely cannot miss out on this wonderful gem of a place. Just like Dave and Busters except for all you old school folks born in the 80s and 90s. On a Friday night, not too packed and you can easily play any arcades you like! They have some obscure ones and lots of new ones. Definitely you have to come here.
5 stars if all games would have been operating properly. That being said, I can't imagine maintaining dozens upon dozens of vintage arcade games, so we were definitely happy playing the 98% that were working. So many old favorites and many I had long forgotten. Definitely a great place to hide while your family hits the mall. More pinball!!
ACTUAL arcade and not another atmosphere bar. Highly recommended if you are more strictly looking for video games. All day play; one fee and you can come and go as you please all day. They have some drinks and snacks available, but not much more than a fridge or two. Amazing place!
A great video game museum with a good smattering of 80s 90s and more modern games. A nice selection of sit down Japanese cabinets, gun games, Japan rhythm games, pinball. All the machines seem to be in pretty good working order especially for their age. I also appreciate the volume isn't set to loud on machines, which can be a deterrent in other arcades
Visited Starcade today with my client who uses a wheelchair and has CP. Was greeted with a smile, great customer service and understanding when employee, Nick, honored the PCA Universal law and even showed us where their handicapped machines were now located - their own platform without any trouble getting to them. This is good business, these are good people.
By far this is easily my favorite arcade. The only place I can play some of my favorite games is here, and every time I show up it's an absolute blast
15.00 all you can play. Old school retro games, tons of fun for 15.00
Classic Arcade experience with a flat entry fee. Don't expect anything super modern though it's definitely very "classic". You can buy food there but it's in a mall and they will give you an arm band to get back in so don't feel any pressure. I didn't get a chance to try the food at all so I don't have much to say on that. But if you have an afternoon you should give it chance.
This place will remind you why you love the idea of arcades. The lineup is diverse, old classics, competitive fighters, tons of light gun games, rhythm games, pinball, every corner has something surprising. I would spend the entry fee just to play Police 911 until my legs give out from crouching. This place is the dam holding back the crushing waters of modern mobile-game-on-big-screen arcades.
Great selection of games and snacks. Friendly staff.
Awesome arcade with many classic games. I came in the evening and quickly realized this is a whole day place because you can't just play these a little bit and then move on you have got to put in some time on each one to appreciate this venue. Great price for the amount of gaming involved.
I love that they have so many arcade games at Keg and Case. Grab a beer from Clutch Brewing and play arcade games.
This was an awesome place. Many classic arcade games. Our whole family went and spent hours playing as many games as we could.
Starcade is a legit 80s and 90s arcade with tons of great games. I've brought my kids here twice now. $15 = play all day. They even let us get a stamp so we could leave to get some lunch and come back to play some more. Only a couple machines weren't working correctly/not turned on, but the vast majority worked and played great. I had a button come off while I was playing Aliens and the guy had it fixed in like 5 minutes. Bathroom was clean. The back room with Japanese sit down arcade machines is so rad. Yo
For fans of not only vintage arcade games, but the classic arcade gaming experience itself, this is hard to beat. For just $15 per person, you can free play your way through some of the most legendary arcade game cabinets of all time, plus many dozens more favourites besides. From open 'til close, if you like. You can even step out (for food, drinks, and shopping at Rosedale Shopping Center) and return later that same day, just so long as you're wearing your wristband to confirm you already paid your one-ti
$15 for a whole day to play retro games? Free parking? Count me in!! The place is nice and spacious too. And they make the most out of the space they have. Lots of retro tech sitting around too like old TVs, laserdisc players, and old video game systems.
Definitely a must see for any video game fan. Bring your kids and introduce them to all the old school games excite bike, pac man, mortal combat, and NBA showtime. Plus tons more! Staff works hard on keeping all the games in great shape and working! You get an all day pass so you can come and go if you want to spend some time at the mall too!
Came here with my family on a Thursday afternoon and had an absolute blast. Tons of awesome old-school arcade games, some of which I had forgotten about until I stepped through their doors. It was a trip down memory lane for me, a blast of nostalgia. The layout is great: I love all the little twists and turns and alcoves, there's a ton of bang for your buck--so much so that I completely missed an entire room filled with games that my wife and kids told me about right as we were leaving. They also have a gia
Going there is so fun, it's like being a kid again and to me that feels great. I'm so happy and grateful to these guys for giving me somewhere to go with my young adult sons. We are planning to make it be a tradition to go at least once a month. Thanks Starcade!
First thing I go to do after admission costs extra. Pinball costs extra? But wasn't the whole point... to pay and get free play? So I walk around, OOH, Super Mario! Oh... it's not on... well. I go to the next room, a few really cool racing style games... but there's people playing... and people waiting to play them. So unless you want to play a zombie shooter type game or a street fighter type game, this might not be your thing.
One of the best family arcades in Minnesota (in my opinion)! Large selection of classic/retro arcade games, as well as a few "modern" games as well (Guitar Hero and DDR to name a couple)! They even have some Japanese/foreign games! One thing I should mention that I personally like is they have duplicates with different speeds (pac man as an example, they have at least one normal speed and one hyper speed). All games are included free to play with price of admission. Admission price is definitely fair at $15
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
