Customer Reviews

Excellent curation of very nice arcade games and pinball machines- Great imports and rhythm games you rarely seen out of Japan...or very special collections. Pat's very knowledgeable and the guys do a great job restoring old machines for all to enjoy. He rents a majority to establishments far and wide so it's always a treat to see the star worlds sticker in far away places . A diamond in the rough if you truly appreciate arcades. A+

I go here pretty frequently! Owner is very nice and helps when machines down. Prices are affordable! I think my only downside are some of the prizes do not change unless there is a specific holiday upcoming. Cost for claw machines sometimes are more expensive than the games that doesn't have any rewards. The new game called Chunithm has been the reason of more frequent visits. Awesome and addicting game! Hope to find more japenese arcade games hopefully ????

Amazing conversation with the owner Pat on his start of his business :) Awesome place

The $25 special gets you an hour or two of quarter arcade fun! And a souvenir cup with it. Great selection of pinball games and claw games. Nice variety of games overall.

This place is a hidden gem. My husband and I came here as a stop on our date night and loved it. Very friendly owners, games are in great shape, and the atmosphere was incredible. Completely nostalgic and we loved every minute of it! We will be back soon!

Had high expectations but a very tiny place with mainly silly games to win junk toys which I wouldn't waste a penny on personally. Just very cramped and kept expecting it to open up more and be another room or something and there wasn't one. The 3 games I played didn't work well and kept messing up. I gave my tokens away to some kids and left. Sadly the weakest arcade I ever stepped foot in and I have been in many being an 80's kid. The owner was a nice guy though wish them the best but can't justify g

This place is fantastic. It may seem small but they really pack a lot of stuff in there. As a pinball fan. It's nice to see such a nice assortment of games. Every one of them I played , played well. The value is really good. I spent 25 bucks on tokens and I think I could have made it 2 hours on that.

The dude behind the counter was super friendly, but this place wasn't fun at all. I wasn't feeling the arcade selections and this place is way too tight. There isn't a lot of room to maneuver inside the building and parking is limited. The only bright spot would be the few classics and the pinball machines.

Pat is great to talk to and is willing to help. I enjoyed Dance Dance Revolution/DDR and the pinball machines the most. It was $5.00 well spent for about an hour of fun. There are a lot of choices to choose from which I like a lot. They do get busier during the evenig hours, so if you want some time to yourself, around 3 p.m. when they open is your best bet.

Such a nice little arcade! Very well kept and looked very cool inside! Loved that it still took tokens instead of card swipes. Loved that there was claw prize machines that were play until win perfect to take kiddos who are still learning to! definitely would recommend!

Amazing place with the best staff! Very affordable with a variety of games. There aren't tickets/prizes, but there are games that do give prizes and were simple enough that we walked away with a handful of cool toys! Highly recommend! Thank you for a great experience!

I tried talking to the shorter gentleman servicing Stern pinball machines about glitches and occasional problems I have noticed. I was going to compliment them on their selections and choices but instead I was treated like a kid! Like a kid in an arcade! I couldn't believe it and they told me 75 cents a time is cheap, that in Illinois it's way more. Well we're not in Illinois guys this is Wisconsin. I play alot of pinball and I will be watching and not using STAR WORLDS!!!!

Well maintained, clean and cozy arcade. Staff is super friendly. Looking forward to our next visit!

Retro and modern games, pinball, Sales, service, good people. Give them a call or stop in and drop a few tokens. Local hidden gem.

I planned on taking my son here for his birthday May 10th, hours said they open at 3pm , we arrived at 5pm and the door was locked , open sign was off. Not to mention it was a Friday so either the hours posted on the door and website are wrong or this place should be more professional about updating when they're opened. Because our plans were canceled last minute, I couldn't even take him out to a fun place on his birthday because this is the only arcade around and he just wanted to go to an arcade place.Ve

The owner, Pat, loves his games. Their prices are really reasonable and I have a blast every time i'm there. This is one of the very best things DeKalb has to offer. Be sure you check out his games in the Huskies Den at the NIU Student Center, too!

Fun stuff. Staff really takes good care of these machines! Don't use the classic "hit the slot to make the quarter fall" technique - you'll get in trouble! Because they care.

Lots of fun! Reasonably priced and so many games to experience.

My wife and i went last night near closing time on our way home from a date, staff was very friendly and super reasonable prices. Love the tokens and cant wait to come back with the kids!!!

Awesome place, I love it!! It has that old school arcade feel from when I was a kid that you don't see anymore. Those kinda arcades from the 80s and 90s. Im a 90s kid/early teen so it brings back that old feel for sure. The pinball machines are my favorite. They always have good ones and the owner is really cool.

Great arcade full of helpful people and friendly faces. Good prices and a fun environment. Not the biggest place, but full of heart and passion for the hobby and history. The owners genuinely care about the community and the history.

I really didn't know what to expect when I walked in with my kids looking for some fun for them. I was absolutely amazed at how clean and nice this was set up. It truly was a blast from the past with a picture mixture of nostalgic and new age games for kids and adults of all ages. The prices were extremely reasonable and my kids walk away with more prizes than we would had ever gotten at a regular arcade gaming place. The owner was very nice and welcoming and made sure that everyone was having a good time.

I ride my onewheel on my way to work and usually have to pass by this place. One day there was a lady decorating the outside of the arcade. She had all the belongings right on the sidewalk and I could not stop or else I would fall. So I had to run over the items which was just a metal thin pipe and the lady called me rude... like how am I rude when you are blocking public sidewalk????

As a mom of two small boys, this was a dream. I was a bit reserved pulling up to the building, but the employee (owner?) Was outside tending to the flowers and caring for the property. Inside is CLEAN despite a touch of smoke smell. (My asthmatic had no issue) There is no food here (some candy prizes) but no spills and mystery sticky substances. There are some games that are always a winner! The man was walking around tending to people and dropping a few tokens in the machines here and there, winning a game

Such a fun place! Very friendly owner. I would definitely check this place out, and the prices are more than reasonable.

First time checking this place out. Small but jamb packed with lots of options. Spent $25 and got 125 tokens. This lasted the 3 of us about 30 mins. Very cool retro vibe as some of these games I played as a kid. Worth a stop.

Place is cool has classic games and pinball. $5 for 30 tokens are not bad. Place is small and tightly packed with games no snack food that would have made it better. Manager/owner is nice. Better hrs and bigger local would make it 4 stars and add snacks and drinks would make it 5 stars. Good place to take kids to get them out of the house and not break the bank.

What the place doesn't have in size it more than makes up for in quality choices for the arcade floor. An amazing DDR A22 cabinet (with an original DDR marquee, nice touch!) Is easily the best thing to offer (I love DDR so this is 100% bias) there are also some high quality pinball games, a few fun classics like Ms Pac Mam and the Star Wars arcade trilogy, the newer Pac Man VS tabletop (another personal favorite), but best of all is the staff. Mr. Malley politely stayed open late for us by 20 minutes and di

The best fun you could have. This place is such a throwback to the glory days of arcade gaming. Perfectly preserved by its friendly and welcoming owner, Pac-Man Pat, but also revamped to feel modern.

Star Worlds is great! Good pinball machines, and play-til-you win claw machines.

I absolutely ?? loved this place my fianc?, daughter and I went tonight. They had a $25 special with 160 tokens and cup. We all had so much-needed fun. Awesome games and friendly environment.

Love this place. Nice ambiance, always have a good time, and love the owner. Not a big arcade by any means but still fun.

Hours of entertainment for two people for only $25!! It was the absolute best choice for a date in Dekalb HANDS DOWN. Pac-Man Pat didn't waist ANY time coming to fix the DDR machine when we told him it had a coin stuck so we couldn't feed the machine. If you have the opportunity to go I highly recommend you do.

Some great rhythm games for sure. It's a bit pricey though. While you get plenty of tokens for your money, most the games cost 6 tokens. If each game cost 4 instead of the 6 I'd probably buy even more tokens and play much longer. The shrines to Twin Galaxies (a place of sham records with poor accountability) is a little bit much and confusing. Either way, the games all work and are fun. Definitely worth checking out.

Stern pinball . . . , but, not on stern insider map. Take 30 minutes to register your Stern games with the insider connected app. May drive more business to arcade. Tilted in Rockford has a lot more traffic with the games on insider connected!. Enterrium in Woodfield mall is busy now too

Always fun, love going in and playing some classics

This is an amazing arcade, with a great deal of nostalgia involved in the old stand-ups here. Classic arcade games, great variations on pac man, good dance games and some great pinball title make this an irreplaceable gem in DeKalb. The proprietor loves games and it shows in every aspect of this place. A good birthday party spot, or just a great place to play some games for fun, this arcade makes me happy.

Great Place, friendly service. Pat is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about arcade machines and maintains all of them very well. It's just a pleasant and fun experience being here and I highly recommend stopping by if you're ever in the area. Great for kids and adults who want to act like kids for a while. They have a great selection to choose from.

A true Dekalb landmark. Pac-Man Pat and his crew always have a welcoming environment. Tiny, but welcoming. A great place to bring the kids or to be a kid again, if only for awhile.

This is a great little place. If you have one or four kids like I do it's possible to have a great time on a tight budget. The owner is a great guy and they have a nice variety of old and new arcade games.

Star Worlds has a fantastic environment, a huge selection of games, and is full of wonderful people. It is a great place to visit on a slow day, but also have exciting events and tournaments from time to time. It has modern games and touches, but maintains a retro feel. There's a game in there for everyone.

The owner was friendly and helpful. My kids and I loved the games. I enjoyed all of the pinball an claw games I'm definitely going to make this a weekly visit.

A small, but great arcade with a rich history. The cabinets are switched out every so often, but there aren't many of them. I think they have a pretty legitimate pinball league, but I've never been too good with the silver ball.

Best arcade experience in my life, and I have been gaming since the early 70s and lived through the "Golden Age" of arcades. Pat has created and maintains a great community feel. Let's put it like this... I drove there from Austin, TX and it was worth the drive!!

Great old school arcade atmosphere and experience! Good assortment of new and retro machines. Really good prices, too, compared to mall arcades.

Great little arcade. Just a couple dozen or so games but lots of fun to stop in for an hour or so. It is a bit cramped both inside and in the parking lot

Old machines were long gone Fair of this business lost coins game with two credit required tokens turned into in and one asked about help owner said we could not open it We can't get the coins back lol

Pac-Man Pat is keeping the vintage arcade days alive in this small but memoribila filled arcade! He packs the games in nicely even has a bunch of pinball machines which are the hardest to keep running as they're mechanical and issues can and will arise often. His prices are fair on machines this isn't a ticket redemption chucky cheese place if your expecting that look elsewhere. Operators have to make their money the legs on pins are definitely set at tournament style height so games are fast and quick. The

Kind worker, fun games, and super cheap for a long amount of fun! I went with my dad and he loved all the old timey atari games, and i loved all the ones new and old. The multiplayer mario kart is really fun to play with your friends! (Its about $5 for an hour of fun play!)

Last time I went there I spent 20-50 minutes off of 6 tokens. 30 is only $5 and we even left with 25 for free. Every time I'm in dekalb i get so excited to go here now lol. Definitely a cool hidden gem ??

It's a fun place , owner is nice and it's great to support local shop. Check it out !

I really like the vibe and atmosphere this place provides. THE ONLY "complaint" that I have at all is that I wish they had some fighting games. & Q*Bert ?? but that's really it. I love playing turbo ms pac man, I probably played it for 2 hours yesterday haha

Great arcade with an amazing variety of games. Very affordable too, you can easily play for an hour or more for under $10, which is much better than a lot of arcades I've been to.

I went there today it was amazing inside I love those pinball machines it's fancy those tokens remind me of Chuck E cheese I give this place 10 out of 10

We were on a road trip from Ireland, JUN 18. took the kids here as a surprise...we all loved it....spent a few hours playing pinball and all the retro arcade games....the staff were great and made the kids feel very welcome...would highly recommend...thanks...had a ball!!!!

I love going here with my friends I always come here abt 3 times a year this place is very fun and has enough games too keep my interest I recommend coming here with friends or with family This place is great! :D

It's nice to have an arcade out in DeKalb and there was a friendly guy working tonight! Only thing is it can get a little crowded when they're busy. But I loved it!

The absolute best place to have that old arcade experience! Totally reasonable prices and an awesome selection of games, man I loved playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out here...

I always have a great time here. The owner is awesome! He also does repairs on arcade games and pinball machines.

Pac Man Galaga Mario Mario I love mario I've been to Pac Man world I love bigmn garfiele And this place will akaze uou. My parents are dead i dont care because i can play siper pac man man i

Nice little place to take the kids to. Lots of old school games so its a fun and nostalgic place for my husband and myself too.

Awesome retro gaming place. Really takes me back. Owner is a dying breed. Talked to him about repairs he does as well, so it's more than just an arcade.

If you're into classic gaming, this is the place to go. They have DDR and a few newer games as well! The staff is friendly, and take great care of the machines.

We come here all the time, great place! great price!

Always a great time. My son and I try to come once or twice a year. Always something new and fun to play. #DigDugChamp

While it's a little cramped in there, all of the old classic games are so much fun, I really had a fun time with the dance revolution machine

From new pinball games to classic Pac man, great way to be entertained for $5. Cash only so hit the atm on the way.

One of the last original arcades! Great games and employees. Highly recommend making a visit!

Pretty awesome place! Cool selection of old and different games! :) Definitely a place to check out!

Theres not many arcades out there its one of the last classics. My boyfriend and I stopped by and got our game on for less then 10 dollars. Customer service was friendly. Looking fwd to stopping by again ??

Great place , loved the pinball machines and the old arcade games.

Whole place smelled like cigarettes, super gross and hard to breathe. Pretty much ruined it for me, otherwise it's pretty cool.

Was fun for the kids. Classic arcade experience but, it was filled with cigarette smoke. We had to leave.

Very nice place. Games are frequently changed out, great selection and decent prices.

Walked in to find what seemed like 5 games all turned off, and no one at the counter. Heard some noise in the back and i got scared and ran out. Havent gone back since.

Much smaller with a limited selection than I would have thought. Was a good place to blow 5$ and 30 mins.

Very friendly staff..took my kids in there and they loved it...almost as much as I did..lol

Love coming here, highly recommend it. There is a variety of games for all ages.

So much fun! Pats love for retro gaming really shows!

Great place that's not overwhelming. Pins, arcade and shooters.

Took my 7 year old son and we had a blast

Love the arcades from the 80's. Very friendly people.

Simply awesome. A wonderful step back in time. Highly recommend

Loads of pinball machines and plenty of other arcade machines to enjoy!

Small but fun. Loads of nostalgic games to play

Fun relaxed place to play some classic and modern games.

Not even worth the star. Only a few games from the 80's and some pinball machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
