Customer Reviews

We always have a great time at Spare Time. The workers are amazing and kind and we just really enjoy ourselves. It seems they always have a new type of arcade games too. We love the bowling and go cart racing!

Expensive but a lot of fun. The games have 2 options. Buy unlimited play for an allotted amount of time but no tickets are given or buy credits where tickets are given for prizes. My kiddos love it here. Plus they have bowling, go carts, rope course & more!

Had a great time last weekend with the family! We were not able to go to the waterpark so we went to spare time instead, and it was definitely worth it! Staff was super friendly and facility was clean.

The staff seemed nice. The Food on the menu was nothing special. Read the drink menu and only got a shot because everything else seemed to be loaded with sugar. The attraction of this place is that it has a lot of fun things to have a fun day. Like batting cages, go-carts, games, laser tag, bowling, volleyball, and this cool above-ground course. I would recommend eating before coming here. Definitely worth visiting.

The bartender Courtney was just great. The guy at the front desk was good. I only experienced one employee that wasn't very customer service oriented and that is the one down by the go carts. She is the one that had a nose ring. When I found out that I had to have closed toed shoes in order to do the go carts she never once offered a pair of closed shoes for me to wear. I didn't find out until I came all the way up and Josh informed me that they have closed toed shoes to offer in order to use the go cart

My 12 yr old won a Apple watch on 2/22. And the manager said they can't give him to him cuase it fell down the back othe the machine, instead of the open chute. Is answer was cuase othe people shake the machine around and messes up the chute. He also won a lesser price xbox controller and nothing happen it came down the chute properly. False advertising. He spend some money on getting those items out, just to tell him they can't give him the apple watch price.... won't be coming back

I lost my work phone, and Al, today's night shift manager (6/12/2025), suggested coming after they close to hear it since the noise is so loud when the machines are on. I was there during closing hours, and I called the phone and was able to find it under one of the machines. Thank you so much for all the flexibility. I really appreciate him going above and beyond.

This would have been a 5 star visit if it weren't for the fact that you guys were severely understaffed. Me and my family came on Memorial Day and all we saw was two servers running around trying to help people, a poor girl alone at the front counter getting swarmed on all sides, and a bartender also getting swarmed. You would think especially for a holiday you would have more people working. The girl at the counter I think her name was Melissa, or Alyssa, was so sweet and helpful. I made a joke to her abou

This place was great to just relax and have some fun. One of the managers named Josh favored us with 2hrs of free bowling and some drinks. We played laser tag and rode the go karts, it was an awesome experience my wife and I had here.

Came here to hangout with some friends not expecting much, but had a blast with bowling (I got a few strikes ?????), and we ended up spending some time in the arcade just messing around, played and spent probably much more money there than I should?ve. 9/10 kinda pricey but overall had a amazing time.

Al was such a pal. Had such a great time both indoor and outdoors thank you so much to a great team. Definitely recommend coming here with the entire family, they have activities for all ages. We will be coming back ASAP.

Love to come bowl here show off my skills. I been coming here since I moved to Texas . Is been a good 6-7 years . But. Today i went to play a few games and bowl with my pregnant wife. Had a good time. Anyways heard rumors about getting cheated on tickets and time. Didn't think it was true or really worth investigating on my own. Until I did today. Sure enough. Added all my tickets in my calculator, by the end of the night checked balance on card. Was off by atleast 200-220 tickets. Now. That's that. Every

We were having a wonderful time until the lady at the bowling station communicated to us that we could purchase a game as we go. When our game was done they told us we had to leave the bowling area. When I went up to her she claimed she never said that, when I reminded her of our conversation she said well I did say this but that's not what I meant. The food is okay, something you would expect at a game/bowl business. We were having a lovely time until now. Thanks to that rude lady and the manager for not o

I just had my sons birthday party here and I couldn't have asked for anything better! Everything went smoothly and the kids had a blast! Breanna B. was our party host and she was absolutely amazing. She took charge and handled everything and was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Thank you for such a great experience!

We held my child?s birthday here and it was so great! Pretty affordable for all that's included, the place was clean, and most importantly the kids had fun! To add on the host was super kind and helpful, thank y?all so much!

We love spending time here. The summer fun pass is awesome, and the Wild Wednesday was a family favorite last summer (unlimited race cars & ropes course). We can't wait to visit again!

Great 1st time experience, with staff, waiters, and the atmosphere. We don't have kids, but went with friends who did have young children and they had a blast. Well, so did we. Played the indoor games, but yet have to go again and try the outdoors. Ran out of time. The food was delicious!

Great atmosphere. A little something for everyone. Bowling light and "night bowling". Games, go carts, elevated obstacle course, bar, event space. Good for all ages and open late.

Excellent family experience. Lots of bowling, arcade games and entertainment. The Laser Tag arena is a plus! Delicious food and appetizers, as well as a full bar with tantalizing signature libations for the adults! The staff were friendly and professional. This place is hard to beat for value, fun and a family atmosphere. There are even outdoor activities as well!! We will DEFINITELY be coming back to Spare Time!!

This place was so much fun !!! There are endless things to do there. A very kind employee named Jolea helped me find my way around and showed me all the place had to offer. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and answered all of my questions! I will definitely be coming back thanks to her!! ????

You hear all the time people are the stars, we had a party for our 10yr old here. Booking was simple we did it a month or 2 in advance, when we got to the location we were greeted by our party host Dez C. Who showed us where our room was going to be. She was very attentive to what we needed and helped us set up our decoration in the room, when we started our bowling and all of our guests started showing up she made sure to get everyone?s shoes and drinks and get them added to the games, we ended up havi

Had my Grandsons birthday there on Feb 1st. Had the worst experience ever with the party host we had. She took time away from their bowling. The ended up only bowling half the time they got cause one lane was down for about 15 minutes and then she made them take shoes off and stop 15 mins before their time was up. She was rude, not very informative and unprofessional. Every time I asked a ? she stumbled to answer and most the time had to go get an answer. I was told to be there by 12:45. When I arrived I as

If you want to bowl and don't have a reservation, be prepared to WAIT. We went soon after they opened on Sunday and the wait was 2 hours ?? game prices are also high. Overall, there is a lot to do, and it's a fun place to go in Temple.

We love sparetime, they are affordable and there is so much to do. This is our go to for family fun and birthday parties.

I went to spare time today with my grand daughter, to celebrate her birthday. We were met with so much help and kindness! All of the employees were extremely helpful, and patient with us, especially in this beautiful new years day, and one person in particular, Ronnie, made sure my granddaughter had a really special day! He was so kind, and amazing! We will definitely be visiting Spare Time in temple again! What a wonderful and fun experience!

This place is filled with fun for everyone!! Bumper cars, bowling, laser tag, and so much more!! They also provide full service restaurant and bar. The food is delicious ?? prices are good ??

Booked a birthday party and their service was spectacular. Particularly the host, Breanna, was incredibly helpful and genuinely cared about giving a good experience. 5 stars!

If you're in Temple or neighboring areas, definitely go and check out Spare Time for some good fun. They have pretty much all you need and more for a fun day with friends or family! If only they had some space for mini golf too.. ???? The bar has a great selection of beers and cocktails, and are full of great Texas made liquors and craft beer. The food isn't bad at all!! Portions are pretty good for the price. Plenty of bowling lanes too and for, yet again, a pretty good price! Plus, they have lots of de

The family and I enjoyed it our first time. It's best to check online for the deals and discounts which are different depending on the day. During the busy hours, each activity is pricey. The food was good and came out quickly, even being busy. Good experience overall.

Love the specials throughout the year. My son had his birthday party here and everything was perfect. The staff was very nice and our party host was so accommodating. Highly recommended!!!

Just FYI, if you book a birthday party and tip the hostess in cash (after already paying the added gratuity on the check), they will write in an additional tip on the receipt and then deny doing it.

I'm 42 years old and I love this place. Very good food, coldest beer in town, great games and fun bowling. Always a blast when we go.

Spare Time might just be one of the most dun things to do in temple. They have so many different options from laser tag, to bowling, to arcade games, to go karts and a bunch of other things. The are also good on pricing and literally have a great special going on daily. I definitely recommend going here weather it's with coworkers, friends, or family.

My 1st time with our youth group from the Traditions Service, Ft. Hood. From the time we reserved it, the time we arrived, Service was good, the staff was very helpful, courteous and patient with us. Our folks enjoyed their time with you all. Thank you...??????

Al Thompson(Manager) and staff made sure we received the best service possible. We had an amazing time. 10 stars for the service led by Al

I know this is going to sound weird but I even got married here!!! No, seriously!!!! It was fabulous!! The staff made two of the conference rooms up very nicely. Then we did the mature thing and played arcade games as our reception.

We went for a last minute birthday party for my daughter on 1/13/24 and the staff was AMAZING, it was a packed house all day and the staff were all still very friendly and helpful. I don't think the cook ever left the kitchen that day but the wait for food was still only 5?8 minutes. Perfect place with a super staff!

Great palce. Ive only eaten and had drinks here but the food is good. And so was my Moscow Mule. The first thing i had to eat was the Nachos and THEY ARE DELICIOUS and theres enought o fill you up and thensome while at a decent price too. MY 2nd trip I had the Philliy Cheesesteak. It was pretty good. I was impressed as a person who has had many of them straight from Philadelphia. My 3rd trip i had a burger with bacon on it. It was also very good. Then to to off my burger I had the Brownie Sundae ??. Once ag

For mothers day we went bowling from 3-5pm and the lane we reserved was over oiled to the point oil was getting all over our hands, making the balls too slick and bowling wasn't consistent..... but the staff was very friendly and gave us a few extra minutes to finish our game

This is an entertaining place for adults and kids of all ages. It serves alcohol too. There are a variety of things to do. You can have birthday parties here. You can come with friends. You can bring your family. There is bowling. You can enjoy yourself in the arcade section. You can ride a go-kart. You can climb a wall. You can do an obstacle course. You can sit at the bar. You can go to the ice cream shop. You can play laser tag. They serve food. You can pay for most of these things using a card you loa

Fun time with friends! A great place to have a fun afternoon or have a party at. I would go again and take my grandkids. HINT: do the online waiver or plan to complete it there. Pay after completing forms to ensure place in line.

Very disappointed in our visit. For being one of the few family friendly places you would think they would take more pride in their establishment. Arcade games were extremely dirty. Trash, lent, and other random items were all collecting in arcade games where you are supposed to reach and touch. (See photo). Kids basketball game had ONE ball to shoot. So his timer was mainly counting down while we waited for the one ball to reload. How hard is it to keep all games correctly stocked for full entertainment? I

Manager AL turned what could have been a very negative experience for my kids into a positive one. His kindness is appreciated. This place is great for the kids and for professional functions. Great job guys.

Had a great time and the cashier really worked with me and was super understanding! Had an inconvenience and accommodated greatly! Love my experience!

Went for Labor day and they had some pretty good deals. The bartender was kind of hard to get a hold of, but very nice service. Sucked that we couldn't play bowling, but we had some fun in the arcade with my 3 yrs old. They did unlimited arcade games for $18 a person. But you couldn't win tickets. I understand why but kind of feel a little like it wasn't really worth the money.

Really fun and cheap! Has everything u need for a family enjoyable outing or celebration

If you are visiting Texas, GO to Spare Time Texas; you won't regret it at all! Great food & drinks (must try the Tropical Paradise; it's sweet) and bowling with friends/lover/family makes it all fun! We had Andrew (Hi! It's us; the crazy twins and little sister!!) as our server/helper/entertainer and we couldn't be more happier with our time at Spare Time Texas. We will come back again during the Summer of 2021!! Thank you ?? ??

Our biennial family reunion chose SP in 2015 for our meet 'n greet location. We pre-ordered from the buffet menu; the food was delicious. The family friendly competition on the lanes was fun, the younger children took advantage of the arcade and we were simply treated with such hospitality that we chose to return in 2017. The plan is to return again in 2019. All the staff members that I dealt with were quite professional and helpful.

I had a great time when I took my daughter for her friend's party. Food and drinks were good and kids had fun.

Update to previous review: Apparently, if you leave a review for a business, google does not let you post a new review so I'm having to edit previous one Thanks to general manager, Joshua Sullivan Who provided the means for my wife and I to enjoy another evening. Also, to the manager on duty the night we went back for another evening at spare time I believe His name is Al . Front of the house service was greatly improved by the associates working the counter. The manager on duty that night was checking

It was our first time here. Management went above and beyond. We had a blast!!!

Had a great time bowling. Can't wait to go again to try other areas of the place. It was clean everywhere & staff was friendly, when you could get them to come to you. Digital pay & call for staff @ table.

Took my family and they loved it, from bowling, to go kart racing, and laser tag was fun, everyone is so amazing, I am so happy since moving from Austin, If you haven't been to Spare Time, then what are you waiting for?

I have always had good experiences here and the adult beverages are fantastic!

fiza at spare time has helped out a lot tonight on the way my brother got in a car crash and she was very polite and kind and she helped with keeping our bowling spot she was very helpful throughout the night great attitude and definitely spare time worthy - karma

Update! We came in for spring break and they were doing the same deal as they did over Christmas break, $18 for unlimited Lazer tag, bowling and games. Over the Christmas you got money added to the account and you could earn tickets and prizes. This time it is a special thing where you don't earn tickets or prizes and the card expires, so we were limited to about 10 games that we could play. Everyone was limited to about 10 games. Then the games would only let you continue a certain amount of time, you aren

Great place for family fun. The bowling alleys are plenty, well maintained, very attentive staff and food servers, order at table is a great feature, bathrooms are big and clean. The arcade section has something for everyone. They participate on the free summer pass program . My family also attended a birthday party there once and it was also well run and kids had a blast.

Our first time visiting this game room, Spare Time with our family. This is a nice and clean place for the number of visitors they receive.I wanted to share this game room/restaurant/bar /bowling alley, and more. There's something for everyone in family ?? ??????????

Staff was kind of oblivious, but very nice. They have a great summer pass program that gives kids a free game of bowling or laser tag every week. My daughters had a blast!

You can definitely tell the bowling areas are aging (because they are over 12 years old so understandable) but the facility is generally always clean and adding more activities was wonderful. Always a good time!

Had a great time at the batting cages, the food was delicious and karaoke was a blast! We had a small issue while using the batting cages but Andrew the manager took care of the issue right away without hesitation. Very good service from all the staff. We will definitely be back. Thanks again Andrew!

I'm not a fan of the fact they don't sell pitchers of soft drinks, it only available for parties.

We had so much fun! The rope course and lazer tag were an absolute blast

Had a wonderful experience! $50 for 6 people to bowl for 90 minutes, a large pizza and 6 drinks with free refills. Great atmosphere. We had an amazing time! Great for kids and adults!

VIP lounge is definitely the way to bowl! Perfect date night or special day w your kiddos. We always have a great time here & will probably never bowl anywhere else locally. Highly recommend!!

Kids had a blast and won 16k tickets!! Great way to get the kids out of the house and stay out of the heat!

The bowling is nice. The shoes were very new and clean. There was a great variety of bowling balls available. The electronic gaming system had different game modes and worked well including the option to create an account and save your information. The arcade was pretty small and limited, but there were some fun games there. The pizza was mediocre but what would you expect? Overall it's a fun place to take your family. Give it a go.

New Years Eve night, we had a blast. The food and service were awesome this time.

Erica was one of the service members and there was also a young guy with glasses helping her. They were not friendly. Seemed to think of us as an inconvenience. They gave us 10 extra mins (that we didn't use) that's why I'm giving an extra star. It was also July 4 when we went and I figured it would be a little more festive but nope.

First time at this place and I must say, it has a great atmosphere. I went because I haven't been bowling in ages. The food was good, but the drinks on the other hand, were okay. I am from Houston, so it was different that what I was use too went to bar drinks. Other than that, wonderful place to unwind and have fun!!

We had a great time here, Jolee was such a great help and so sweet!!

My family & I went to Spare Time for the first time today, and it did not disappoint! With today being Saturday, I was a bit nervous, expecting the place to be overcrowded, and it wasn't! There's so much to do for the whole family of all ages. All staff was friendly, and the food & drinks were affordable $5 and under at the drink/snack station. We'll definitely be going back!

No rotation on karaoke or volume control. Otherwise nice place. I found karaoke very disappointing.

S lot you can do. Fun atmosphere. Very expensive. The batting cage is nice, but it costs more than any place I've been. The go carts are fun, the prices are a little high.

Always a good time. Gets super busy on the weekends so if you can sneak in on the weekdays it's money.

What a fun place to hang out with the family, highly recommend!!!

I think I'll start with the good stuff. Some friends and I had been at Spare Time a few weeks before, but had suffered a tornado and the building had to be evacuated. I'm very happy to say that they allowed us to essentially refund the deal we had payed for that day. Taking this generosity into account is unfortunately the main reason I have given a two star instead of only one. The games there are fun. Bowling, laser tag, and the arcade are priced reasonably. It's a good environment to go out with some fri

Love coming here for the specials on bowling Sunday and Monday nights. The videogames are alright if you're entertaining a younger crowd (under 10). The laser tag is fun if you can get a group going and the complex itself is two stories. The staff is always nice and they have plenty of security. The food is great and the drinks are very well priced. Have really never had anything negative to say about the place and I've been here at least a dozen times. I'd definitely recommend stepping down a size on bowli

The staff is awesome and it's a very nice place and very very fun

Had an amazing fun filled day! The food was amazing. Couldn't have spent a better day with our soldier

Arcade was fun! Drinks were great. Food was good. Bowling was fun, especially for my 3year old. Wish they had smaller balls for the kiddos but we still had fun!

The karaoke night truly was fire And the fries were good

Plenty to do lots to enjoy. Good food, decemf prices. A treat for kids of all ages.

This place is a blast! We went on Friday and the daily special was unlimited everything for 25$ between 1100-1700.

Lorelei was amazing. Super friendly and attentive to boot!

So much fun good food good value for family entertainment

Omg. I felt like a kid again with my family. No specials on saturday but special prices on different activities any other day. My family loves thus place..

Amazing pizza and the bartender got a damn good hand. He was making us all these drinks they were so good (order a candy apple or skittles drink) next time you go. Our server was awesome! My nephew had an amazing party.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.

Are virtual reality games in arcades worth playing?

Yes, virtual reality (VR) games in arcades are a top attraction in 2025! Titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx deliver immersive thrills with cutting-edge headsets, motion tracking, and responsive controllers. High-resolution displays and spatial audio create heart-pounding experiences, from slashing rhythms to battling zombies. Arcades feature multiplayer VR zones and tournaments, fostering lively communities. VR booths are regularly packed, proving their captivating, next-level gameplay makes them a must-try arcade experience.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
