Slate Charlotte

Haven't been here in a while. It's a bigger bar with games and plenty of seating. There are multiple small rooms with different games and seating options. It's located in the south end, so parking can be a hassle. We didn't need to pay to get in, but they do have bouncers at the door checking IDs. This is definitely a spot to go if you want to play a few games, lounge, or just sit at the bar and drink. They have multiple TVs, so they do play the games. Overall, it's not a bad place to go and chill and catch

No bar stools or chairs. Only standing. If you try & sit near the pool tables where your friends are, you'll get your chair removed.

Atmosphere was fine . Fun bar vibes . HOWEVER , someone in the dance floor stole my phone out of my back pocket without me noticing because it is body to body . Bouncer tried to extort my friend for $50. he confronted my friend in a bathroom stall and accused him of doing coke. He said he was going to toss my friend out if he doesn't pay him $50. My guy doesn't do coke so I know he's lying ?????. Bouncer had an attitude with me and tossed me down. Between 3 bouncers they dragged me out of the bar. This is one of the nicest places I've ever been let down by. If it wasn't intending to be a college bar, then I guess it was an accident. We came to shoot pool, and 2 of the 5 tables had ping pong on top which was cool in theory ... HOWEVER 2 of the remaining 3 tables were SEVERELY off level to the point that all of the balls collected along 1 side of the table along the rail cushions. Very loud and overwhelming weekend crowds. A young and fresh place to visit on the weekends for the lively crowds who enjoy simple drinks and loud music. Country music dominates the rooms on the weekend, and getting a decent drink in the crowd is a battle of the fittest. It can definitely be a good time if you bring your crew.

Love the staff and the vibe. Always lowkey and a great place to hangout!

Stood at the bar for 23 min and the girl kept skipping me. It's always like that too. Plenty of other places that are much better in the area

Place seems sketchy, my bank account looks like I was charged way more than I actually bought. Almost every time I got a beer the bartender would slam it down so that it foamed out of the top. Seemed rude and a waste of an expensive beer. Won't be returning.

The atmosphere is not bad but management and the bouncers are horrible. Went to this club after the Panthers vs. Bills game. Had an AWESOME time. Walked in and was able to speak to a bartender almost instantly. Was bought a drink by a person standing next to me (even though I don't drink, just go out to socialize). Most people were good looking. The crowd was about 21-27 in age but mostly young professionals. DJ played good music. People were cool. Diverse crowd. No issues.

Too crowded to be enjoyable. Big place but packed in like sardines. This was on a game day so maybe other times it's not as crowded Would have needed the offensive line of the Panthers to get to the bar

This place is always a fun choice to go to. I'm a big skeeball fan so it's fun to come play some games (they only do cash for some) and hang with friends and drink some beer. It's spacious as well so not overcrowded. I had a fun time and I would go again

This is a great club for college age millennials, sports guys, beer buffs, pool hall types and forty somethings. TVs everywhere with indoor and outdoor appeal for everyone...loud, current music and lots of seating (I love clubs with tons of seating). Bring your whoever, pick your spot and have a blast. Nice place, great atmosphere, tolerable prices. Would've given it more stars but the service is terrible. Went there with my wife, servers were nowhere to be found finally just opened a tab with the bartender so we didn't have to wait all night for a drink. The bartenders were rude with poor customer service. They hold your card to open a tab, however when you go to get the card back be careful because they gave me the wrong person's card and then when I told her it wasn't mine she had an attitude with me and said she doesn't have my card. Awesome bar! They have a good beer selection and many games to play. They have pool, arcade games, connect 4, giant jenga, ping pong, and a bunch of tvs for games. Late into the night they have a DJ and it's great. I docked a star because it can get pretty crowed, real fast. If you don't like being on top of someone else in a bar area (unlike a club) you should probably skip. But overall, nice bar!

Bouncer and manager were horrible. Celebrating a bachelor party and one of the guest was refused entry. Was very rude about how it was done. For a group from out of town it has left a bad mark on an otherwise great night. Will never go here

Really enjoy this bar. Like that they've got pingpong table, pool table, and other games. Drink prices are slightly on the pricey side. It gets crowded on weekends but never too ridiculous. Bouncers are nice. Have always had fun here.

Love the low-key environment inside. If you're not in to clubs then this is the place for you. Billiards, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, and ping pong as well as arcade games are available to play. Drinks are a little pricey but tolerable. Would definitely recommend.

One of my favs! I go here both alone and with groups. There's always fun to be had and new people to meet. They share a kitchen with All American but sometimes Slate isn't serving food. They do however let you go next door,get food and bring it back. They cut off the comingling with the club next door. Hopefully they open those doors back, I liked having the two atmospheres. Very relaxed pool hall uptown. Nice location plenty of space. Ordered the chicken tenders and tots, which were very good. Only down fall is everything is first come first serve so that can be a problem when it's crowded. But definetly a fun atmosphere. I'll be back.

This was a very active place on a Saturday night. There was no cover and there were mostly younger people here. The bartenders were fast. It is a big place with music and some attempts at dancing. I noticed pool tables around but didn't realize until now that it is a billiard hall. It felt like a club with some pool tables scattered about.

I was at a sority semi formal holding a water with lime in it and a bouncer forcibly removed me from the bar. I asked him to smell or taste my drink to show him it was only water and he told me the bartenders don't serve water in the cup I was drinking. However, if this man had simply taken seconds to investigate the situation he would have know it was water and he would have not lifted me up and carried me from the bar. Service Dog Handlers, prepare yourself for access issues. The manager/owner (unsure of this mans position,) blatantly violated ADA law. The Southend equivalent of a dive bar. Great for cheap drinks, loud music and bar fights. If you're lucky and tall, you can get the bartenders attention at the always crowded bar.

I loved Slate when it opened, but all the tables are in need of repair. It's an ok place to hang out, but most will prefer All American for anything except Friday/Saturday nights when everything is packed

These guys work with local groups and really rock it for fun meetings. Good is always good. Staff is very quick with the drinks.

Tried to drop in randomly while walking the Rail Trail and was not let in due to my wife forgetting her ID. There was not a single other person in there and she wasn't drinking and we were denied entry. Seeing that they were hurting for business it made no sense. It's a bar not a club. No wonder it was empty.

I wasn't really that impressed. They advertise food, but there wasn't a table anywhere to eat. Bartender said they removed pub tables for All-Star Weekend and CIAA. Seems mostly a place for 20-30 year old yuppies. Pool tables had stains and set up too close to other tables, like ping pong tables.
