Haven't been here in a while. It's a bigger bar with games and plenty of seating. There are multiple small rooms with different games and seating options. It's located in the south end, so parking can be a hassle. We didn't need to pay to get in, but they do have bouncers at the door checking IDs. This is definitely a spot to go if you want to play a few games, lounge, or just sit at the bar and drink. They have multiple TVs, so they do play the games. Overall, it's not a bad place to go and chill and catch
No bar stools or chairs. Only standing. If you try & sit near the pool tables where your friends are, you'll get your chair removed.
Atmosphere was fine . Fun bar vibes . HOWEVER , someone in the dance floor stole my phone out of my back pocket without me noticing because it is body to body . When hunting for my phone , I was told ? to just give up , that there is a guy that comes in a pick pockets phones and other things and sales them ? ?? but yet they have made no effort to even try and find out who he is or remove him . Needless to say I won't be going back . The staff was probably the most unfriendly staff ever , no respect for othe
Bouncer tried to extort my friend for $50. he confronted my friend in a bathroom stall and accused him of doing coke. He said he was going to toss my friend out if he doesn't pay him $50. My guy doesn't do coke so I know he's lying ?????. Bouncer had an attitude with me and tossed me down. Between 3 bouncers they dragged me out of the bar. They ripped my shoe off and tossed me outside. Couldn't fight back considering these guys could be armed also didn't like my 3v1 odds. This place is a dump and not worth
This is one of the nicest places I've ever been let down by. If it wasn't intending to be a college bar, then I guess it was an accident. We came to shoot pool, and 2 of the 5 tables had ping pong on top which was cool in theory ... HOWEVER 2 of the remaining 3 tables were SEVERELY off level to the point that all of the balls collected along 1 side of the table along the rail cushions. When we asked a staff member if they could be straightened out, her response was "I wouldn't know anything about it". Wha
Destiny was amazing. Personable. Cute as sin. Sweet as pie.:) 11/10 will return to order green tea shots. :)
Fun bar. Amazing drinks. Be sure to ask for Jen! Perfect pour every time!
I love Farah-Ann. She's an amazing bartender who knows me so well, I don't have to tell her what I want for her to get grab my usual order. 5/5
Cool little vibe, wish it were more diversified as far as the crowd is concerned, should add 1 more pool table
Very loud and overwhelming weekend crowds. A young and fresh place to visit on the weekends for the lively crowds who enjoy simple drinks and loud music. Country music dominates the rooms on the weekend, and getting a decent drink in the crowd is a battle of the fittest. It can definitely be a good time if you bring your crew.
Love the staff and the vibe. Always lowkey and a great place to hangout!
Destiny was really great, well taken care of and incredible conversation.
10/10 will definitely go back. It's a reason this place is still around! Great drinks and the vibe is always fun and relaxing at the same time.
Great barkeeps. Very crowded on a Friday night. Don't climb on the bar or you get the shaft like this poor sap. Kind of confusing finding the place if you've never been.
Would give 0 out of 5 if possible. I came in, went to the bathroom, and walked around the bar looking for my friends. Checked outside, didn't find them. Came back in, saw a speed bag and gave it a tiny little jab. A fellow patron standing nearby got angry about that and decided to shove me and start cussing me out. While I was trying to deescalate the situation (i.e. telling him to calm down), one of the bouncers grabbed me by the neck from behind, dragged me along the floor, and threw me out. Didn't even a
The bouncers will try to extort you for money, and they are extremely violent. Avoid at all costs
Stood at the bar for 23 min and the girl kept skipping me. It's always like that too. Plenty of other places that are much better in the area
Place seems sketchy, my bank account looks like I was charged way more than I actually bought. Almost every time I got a beer the bartender would slam it down so that it foamed out of the top. Seemed rude and a waste of an expensive beer. Won't be returning.
Cool spot to hang out and listen to music.. Get drunk if you want to, have fun live.
There was an event there and they were really slow. The drinks that they made weren't that great for the cost. The staff did look happy to be there.
The atmosphere is not bad but management and the bouncers are horrible. I was there one night and the bouncers grabbed me from the back and bear hugged me and body slammed me to the floor bruising my elbows, ribs and busted my lip. Then when I tried to tell the owner he told me the only thing he seen was me attacking him which was false. Then the cops did absolutely nothing they are all lazy they don't care about nothing but their money. I would highly recommend not going going there and if you do decide t
such a fun time and great music! all the people matched the vibe we were on. a restroom attendant was great. bring about $10 in 1s and play all the 1$ games! please get more games in the place and keep up the good work y?all. our bartender was Rachel and what a good looking sweet girl! she helped make our night forsure
Went to this club after the Panthers vs. Bills game. Had an AWESOME time. Walked in and was able to speak to a bartender almost instantly. Was bought a drink by a person standing next to me (even though I don't drink, just go out to socialize). Most people were good looking. The crowd was about 21-27 in age but mostly young professionals. DJ played good music. People were cool. Diverse crowd. No issues.
Too crowded to be enjoyable. Big place but packed in like sardines. This was on a game day so maybe other times it's not as crowded Would have needed the offensive line of the Panthers to get to the bar
This place is always a fun choice to go to. I'm a big skeeball fan so it's fun to come play some games (they only do cash for some) and hang with friends and drink some beer. It's spacious as well so not overcrowded. I had a fun time and I would go again
Slate use to be a dope vibe. It's just blah now. You will still have a good time but a quick in and out spot.
This is a great club for college age millennials, sports guys, beer buffs, pool hall types and forty somethings. TVs everywhere with indoor and outdoor appeal for everyone...loud, current music and lots of seating (I love clubs with tons of seating). Bring your whoever, pick your spot and have a blast. Bartenders are great and good food here too.
UPDATE: Called and left a message and have yet to hear from anyone. No response to my review from the manager or owner. It's been a week... I see they only value their money... The first and last time I ever go here. My girlfriends asked me to be their designated driver. We head over to Slate thinking I would be able to eat while they drank since I'm expecting. Unfortunately the bartender tells us there's no food being served but we can go next door to American Pub. We ask one of the security guards if we
Great pool haul. 21 and up. free pool and ping pong etc...and the drinks and atmosphere is great. Music was kinda loud though. Hard to carry a conversation because of it. I give them 5 stars because it was Karaoke night.
Nice place, great atmosphere, tolerable prices. Would've given it more stars but the service is terrible. Went there with my wife, servers were nowhere to be found finally just opened a tab with the bartender so we didn't have to wait all night for a drink. When my wife came back from the bathroom she said she saw 1 of the servers sitting on the counter top in the bathroom just messing around on her phone. It's too bad bc it's a nice place. We'll go back once service improves.
We went to watch college football. The hostess was really nice and changed a TV for us so we could watch the game we wanted. She informed us that there would be no servers until 5pm but you can order food and drinks from the bar. I went up to the bar and all of the bartenders were horrible. I get that they were busy but they were so rude. My husband and I got eye rolls and snappy comments like we were bothering them, that's your job. It's 5pm in the afternoon, don't be rude. Honestly if you can't handle the
Pretty good place to watch UFC fights. Drink prices/specials were good. We did have a mix up on our tab, but the bartender took her time and made it right!
Bouncers are shady!! We arrived and they wouldn't allow me to bring my keys in bc it had a bottle opener and a button push tool on it from covid. I forgot it was on there but why does it matter? Then told me if I gave him some cash he would let me through? how about no. How about you just do your job and quit being shady. This place has always had problems and it seems nothing has changed. Side note TSA doesn't even check you as thorough? expect a full cavity search to go in haha
Great music choice in my opinion. Decent drink prices with awesome bartenders. 3 or 4 pool tables, free of charge. Table tennis, ect. Large place with tons of room, inside and out to lounge and meet people, hang out with friends. Will be returning for sure
The bartenders were rude with poor customer service. They hold your card to open a tab, however when you go to get the card back be careful because they gave me the wrong person's card and then when I told her it wasn't mine she had an attitude with me and said she doesn't have my card. They basically lost my card or gave it to the wrong person and then got an attitude as if it's my problem and they are too busy to figure it out. Another issue I had was the people walking around cleaning up drinks kept t
My fianc? and I used to love coming here but lately every time we go into the establishment the female bartender (black hair and glasses) is either rude to my fianc? or doesn't serve her at all. I have to go and order the drinks for my fianc? every time because the bartender lies and says they ran out of it to her but will give it to me when I ask. This has happened to other women we show up with as well and has happened repeatedly over multiple occasions and is just unacceptable. The other employees have b
Great place in Charlotte to have drinks and play pool ????
I went for Sunday football the atmosphere is great, however I hate the fact that the bartender literally overcharged me for drinks because I paid cash at first. But then I went with another bartender and got the same drinks for 3 dollars cheaper? Kind of ruined the experience from me.
Service Terrible Server Just Walking Past A Man Was Vaping Behind The Bar As I Waiting To Be Served It Was A Birthday Outting Never Again Then Couldn't Get Food Hr N Half Early before They Closed
Awesome bar! They have a good beer selection and many games to play. They have pool, arcade games, connect 4, giant jenga, ping pong, and a bunch of tvs for games. Late into the night they have a DJ and it's great. I docked a star because it can get pretty crowed, real fast. If you don't like being on top of someone else in a bar area (unlike a club) you should probably skip. But overall, nice bar!
Bouncer and manager were horrible. Celebrating a bachelor party and one of the guest was refused entry. Was very rude about how it was done. For a group from out of town it has left a bad mark on an otherwise great night. Will never go here
this place is awesome. atmosphere is on point. drinks are decent priced and delicious. will definitely be going back soon. would highly recommend
I am visiting from New York and was told to visit Slate for good music and drinks. As I arrived I had the worst experience. I approached the door and was explaining to the bouncer that I just arrived from the airport. The bouncer proceeded to yell at me l and antagonize me, telling me to calm down. He repeated this 5 times as I wasn't saying anything except for I'm not from here and I apologize for having several bags. He then proceeded to throw my items in the dirt of a flower pot and told me not to come i
I come here every Friday for the cheap corona. The staff already know me and since I give out very good tips. I get first class service lol. Great place for socializing.
Really enjoy this bar. Like that they've got pingpong table, pool table, and other games. Drink prices are slightly on the pricey side. It gets crowded on weekends but never too ridiculous. Bouncers are nice. Have always had fun here.
Good times and good drinks but the staff aren't approachable. My bank card was declined at the register and then accepted at the atm inside. When I asked why there was no explanation except, "contact your own bank." In a day of technical advancement, they were Neanderthals.
This bar is awesome if you enjoy 25 male hipsters grinding up against you at all times. The bar is awesome if you enjoy horrible music blasting in your ear the whole time you are there. Parking is awesome too btw.
Good venues for night out or day party action
We met up and the Panthers game was on, which was cool, especially since there were other games and golf playing on a few of the smaller screens (there are a lot of screens). There were plenty of things to do (skeeball, jenga, pool, ping-pong, etc.) and a few places to sit if you wanted to. The alcohol selection was like any other bar -- you could get mixed drinks or beer (including low-priced specials). It was a cool place in a good location. It only lost one star because it was so loud inside that my ears
Love the low-key environment inside. If you're not in to clubs then this is the place for you. Billiards, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, and ping pong as well as arcade games are available to play. Drinks are a little pricey but tolerable. Would definitely recommend.
One of my favs! I go here both alone and with groups. There's always fun to be had and new people to meet. They share a kitchen with All American but sometimes Slate isn't serving food. They do however let you go next door, get food and bring it back. They cut off the comingling with the club next door. Hopefully they open those doors back, I liked having the two atmospheres. Overall great staff and product!
Big and spacious gameroom/lounge/club. Plenty of pool tables, darts, giant tic tac toe, and jenga in the lounge area. Nice mixture of people hanging out. Music was so so, and definitely not loud enough. Drinks were overpriced, or I got a inexperienced bartender. I'm not a heavy drinker, but I had two drinks, but wished I just gave up on the first one. We didn't go to the club because the tables could not accommodate our group of about 15. Yet it was not that busy for a Saturday night, and there were other
Very relaxed pool hall uptown. Nice location plenty of space. Ordered the chicken tenders and tots, which were very good. Only down fall is everything is first come first serve so that can be a problem when it's crowded. But definetly a fun atmosphere. I'll be back.
This was a very active place on a Saturday night. There was no cover and there were mostly younger people here. The bartenders were fast. It is a big place with music and some attempts at dancing. I noticed pool tables around but didn't realize until now that it is a billiard hall. It felt like a club with some pool tables scattered about.
I was at a sority semi formal holding a water with lime in it and a bouncer forcibly removed me from the bar. I asked him to smell or taste my drink to show him it was only water and he told me the bartenders don't serve water in the cup I was drinking. However, if this man had simply taken seconds to investigate the situation he would have know it was water and he would have not lifted me up and carried me from the bar. I will be in contract with management about this barbaric behavior and hope to see this
Since Covid you never know when it's open. But amazing place lol
I was totally impressed with this bar at Southend. Very trendy, friendly staff, good food, I enjoyed myself this afternoon with alot of old friends, it was like a reunion. Music this afternoon was a D j set up, great acoustics. ??????????Katie Brett
I am by far disappointed in the service that I was given at this establishment on 10/14/18. I arrived with my friends and ordered a beer at the bar, and I told the bar tender to keep my tab open. Throughout the night I order a couple more beers, but when I went to let my debit card could not be found. The bartender actually gave me someone?s else?s card. I told her I needed my correct card, and that's when it went down hill. The bartender got an attitude when I said I need my card back. The bartender then k
Enjoyed my first time here!! The drinks were great!!! The crew and i played Jenga and had a blast. Can't wait to go back to NC to go back there
Service Dog Handlers, prepare yourself for access issues. The manager/owner (unsure of this mans position,) blatantly violated ADA law. Though he did ask one of the two permitted questions (Is that a service dog?,) He demanded to see the dog ?Sit,? to prove his training. This is absolutely unacceptable. Service dogs are permitted ANYWHERE that their handler is present. The American Disabilities Act was directly violated by this person. As a professional service dog trainer, I can confirm all of the laws fro
I decided to check out Slate for the first time last night and was very under impressed not by the place itself but, my first impression wasn't good. The bouncer in specific was extremely rude for absolutely no reason. My friends and I walked up to the door about to go inside before he ran up to us saying we need to show IDs which of course being a bar, is expected. He looked at me specifically accusing me of having a fake. I do look young but, I am 22 years old and I showed him my ID. He took it as he cont
I use to love Slate! However, with the management and rules I will not be going back. Crowds are too wild and security is biased to fans. Overall very dissatisfied and have better options right Football Sunday!
Very cool concept to a bar. I wish I had something like this in my hometown. Fun social ice breakers with the games available to play. I think we might have the record for highest jenga tower with the least amount of blocks. :D
Fun bar with activities but located next to a club with a very different vibe. Usually pretty crowded on the weekends so go early if you want to hang out and have your pick of games.
Extremely poor experience with Slate's security and manager. This was my first time going and my party (7 ppl) was excited about being able to continue my friend's bachelor party weekend. The security at the door stated that the new SC ID of one of my party members was fake. He didn't recognize the new format of the SC id. We asked to speak with the manager. Brandon, who said he was the manager on duty, didn't even look at the id before he stated that it was a fake as well, and explained that he already che
First time here. I had a Ball! DJ R Wonz was Awesome! Place is huge and the associates were really nice. Plan on returning when I visit the Queen City again!
Security was rude.Ask him a question not once but twice and they didn't answer me but was quick to tell me the other area that we went to was closed. So I took my business to the American pub next door where they have cheap drinks and amazing mozzarella sticks
This place would be great if they just turn down their lights.. it's too bright in there, if you deem the light, so people are not able to see each other as clearly, they're more open to be social and have fun, and eventually spend more money.
So many tvs to watch sports. So many arcade games to have fun. Just needs more sitting areas near the tvs. A goto place for drinks and to relax.
Came to this place to enjoy the game and play some pool. Guy at the door turns away one of my buddies who have a real ID stating that it was fake. The guy had no problem with his ID anywhere else in Charlotte. The id had started to peel a little from normal wear and tear. Same ID. They refused to recognize the hologram or had any other form of id verification. They call the manager and he doesnt even really look at the id but says that its fake and walks back into the bulding. This was the worst customer se
Closed when google said they were open. Wasted 17.50 in parking. I'm sure it's a cool place, just wanna express frustration.
It was chill. Not overcrowded. Music was good. Drinks were typical- small, iced down and overpriced. Good crowd. Tables werent too busy.
Security didnt let me in because i was wearing Jordan sneakers. He said no athletic apparel but if you was wearing Nike Air Max he would of let me in. Glad i didn't go in because some thugs started fighting in the place it was mega chaos in there. Next time i go to Charlotte i will never go there again??
I enjoy coming here a lot. The games are fun and it's located near a light rail stop. Drinks are kind of expensive so that's why it doesn't get 5 stars.
Been couple of times here now and place got nice energy people around. nice drinks available and they may need to improve their snack section for people who want to eat while drink.
The Southend equivalent of a dive bar. Great for cheap drinks, loud music and bar fights. If you're lucky and tall, you can get the bartenders attention at the always crowded bar.
Poor customer service when trying to figure out if I accidentally left my card there. Also took an eternity to get service when only a few were at the bar, and the bartender noticed me attempting to get their attention
Great place to hang. Not overly crowded during the week. Good beer prices. Pool tables are in average shape. Employees nice and friendly.
One of the most discriminatory places in charlotte. Men were allowed in after 10pm with Jordan's on but a woman was not. The manager gave the reason that maybe they knew some one or paid extra. Not a way to run a bar. Do not support this business.
Hours said they were open when I tried to go 4pm on a Sunday. Pooring rain outside and they were closed. Good job ??
I loved Slate when it opened, but all the tables are in need of repair. It's an ok place to hang out, but most will prefer All American for anything except Friday/Saturday nights when everything is packed
good time very exciting place to be
Didn't think I'd like this place, but it was pretty sweet. $1 beers on Tuesday, free pool and table tennis. Nice relaxed feel when we were there.
These guys work with local groups and really rock it for fun meetings. Good is always good. Staff is very quick with the drinks.
Great location, surprisingly easy to park, and great drink specials all week. I got a burger and fries which were also pretty solid.
Tried to drop in randomly while walking the Rail Trail and was not let in due to my wife forgetting her ID. There was not a single other person in there and she wasn't drinking and we were denied entry. Seeing that they were hurting for business it made no sense. It's a bar not a club. No wonder it was empty.
I wasn't really that impressed. They advertise food, but there wasn't a table anywhere to eat. Bartender said they removed pub tables for All-Star Weekend and CIAA. Seems mostly a place for 20-30 year old yuppies. Pool tables had stains and set up too close to other tables, like ping pong tables.
Fun bar with ping pong and pool available. I went on a Friday night and it wasn't too packed so that I was able to have a table most of the time. Drinks are priced fairly
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
