Skate Zone

Skate Zone

Reviews Summary

Skate Zone receives mostly positive feedback for its fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and well-maintained rink, with many praising it as a great family spot. However, some criticize poor customer service, safety concerns for beginners, and occasional overcrowding. While most enjoy the events, food, and affordability, a few report negative experiences with staff behavior and party management. The rink appeals to all ages but could improve safety measures and consistency in service.

I am SO dissapointed at this establishment. When initially trying to book a private event WE WERE TOLD IT WASNT AN OPTION until May. WE ALSO OFFERED TO PAY MORE. So we moved forward with a regular booking with the most expensive package. We also discussed setting up the balloon display. WE CALLED PRIOR TO PURCHASING to avoid wasting money (we specifically communicated that it would be an arch) before purchasing the supplies. The employees also assisted us with finding a place to prep the balloons before ou

Skate Zone was an incredible experience for my summer camp! From start to finish, the kids had an absolute blast. As soon as we arrived, the energy was high, and the excitement was contagious. Most of the kids couldn't wait to lace up their skates and hit the rink. For some, it was their first time skating, but the staff was super patient and helpful, making sure everyone felt comfortable. The highlight had to be the skate games. The kids were all in, laughing and cheering each other on during activities l

Brought my boys here for the new year party and they had a great time. It was their first time skating and they kept asking to go back. We finally made it back and they had just as good of time on a regular day. I love the way they engage the kids! Great price, fun times, and the boys love it!

Skate Zone is a fantastic place for kids, and my children absolutely love it! This location doesn't have a shortage for fun- from ongoing games for the skaters, giveaways, and allowing skater adequate space to develop their skills. The crowd size is just right?not too busy, but still full of energy?and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It's an ideal spot for family outings, birthday parties, or any kids' events. The food is decent, and both the food and activities are reasonably priced. High

Thank you to Skate Zone for hosting a wonderful birthday party for my nephew CJ! Your staff did a wonderful job catering to our guests the entire time . We have been skating here as a family for many years and highly recommend this rink for anyone looking for a local, clean, safe kid friendly place to skate with great music -We will be back very soon .

Wow this place is nice and was the perfect location for an 8 year old birthday party. The music, food, ice cream sundae and everything was perfect. My daughter had a lovely time at her friend's party and all had a great time. We drove from Waldorf.

I've been skating there for about a month and there was one incident that makes me not want to ever want to come back just be careful not to play the scarf game. However the staff did an excellent job on handling the situation. They made sure to make me feel as comfortable through the situation as possible. A female staff helped me fill out an injury report and she was excellent at her job in making sure that I was comfortable. Thanks to the staff at skate zone they cleared the floor to let me get off the

Brought the youth from our church for the first time. There were to many walkers on the floor, not enough staff on the floor to monitor kids, children were skating in the wrong direction, cutting people off with walkers and too many parents walking small children on the outer lanes instead of the blue safety floor in the middle. This made it dangerous at times. Need better management on the floor! If I wasn't familiar with the rink I would think twice. Overall the kids enjoyed being there. We will support

On Mondays 10-12 they let the toddlers take over the rink which is always fun for them. If you bring a bike, cart, or other rolling toy, be prepared to share, it's a good opportunity to teach sharing and taking turns. The skate zone has some things out for them too, like these cute little electric bumper cars that light up and are operated by joy sticks. They don't go fast at all so they're safe for tiny tots. I was there with 2 one year olds and they both were able to manage driving them on their own. Cost

Went for a birthday party. The staff was great, atmosphere was really good for a skating rink, the party staff (from a party attendee's perspective) was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place to others. There was a minor issue the staff handled quickly. The issue was created by another parent taking advantage of a child on the rink floor so other individuals can sour the time there but everything else is fanatic for a skating rink.

DO NOT BOOK ANY PARTIES HERE!!! Take your $$ someplace else. A lot of miscommunication on their part and ruined my Goddaughter?s party. Did not try to resolve the issue. Multiple staff made mistakes and their was no compromise or empathy. Midway through the party we were asked to remove tablecloths down already for 1.5hr already. A huge headache. Do not recommend for parties. The pizza was subpar.

I used to go there with my friends when I was my daughters age, and now I love taking her for her school fundraiser. The kids have lots of fun

Went for Tot Time (up to 6 years old) today and it was a lot of fun. You're allowed to bring your own bikes and scooters to the facility. Each person during Tot Time is $6 and each person also gets a free small drink coupon. The workers are super sweet and the facility was clean. Bathrooms have small but sufficient doors, there's also a family bathroom. Wish there were hooks inside the bathroom to place coats and backpacks. We got some pizza for $3/slice.

During my child?s event another kid found a large insect cooked into his pizza, after reporting it to the manager he seemed to joke about it and it took a lot of hesitation before he offered a fresh pizza. Extremely disappointed.

Went with scout troop on a Sunday night. Crowded as expected. Facility was fine. Skeeball machine had a glitch-unlimited play when I scanned my card and no tickets given. Restrooms was clean enough.

Prepare to be nickeled and dimed! One afternoon for one kid set me back $30. They charge admission even for adult chaperones with zero interest in skating. Charge extra for skate rentals and separately for rentals of skate mate helpers, plus they ask for tips at every credit card purchase,.of which, because of the nickel and dining,.there are many. We could take the family to movies or dinner for less, all in. Just in response to the owner's reply that they try to be "transparent" with pricing - I walked

The host was amazing. My daughter?s birthday party was so much fun. Her and her cousins totally enjoyed themselves!!!

I came in to book my party @7 months before (well in advance). All of my queries were answered, promptly. I did not have to worry about anything. When, I arrived tables had been set up the way I had sent via email. They even had the necessary cords for my photo booth. The young woman in charge of handling my party was very polite & cheerful. She made sure that everyone was good. The wings & pizza were on point. My guests had a BALL!!! I will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend Skate Zone for your

We went around 3pm on a Saturday. There were about three bday parties happening and alot of people were in there but the skating floor didn't feel too crowded. We had a good time.

My oldest took up skating during COVID and now her youngest sister is a speed queen at the rink. Love spending the day watching my kids have the same passion for skating that I did when I was younger. The staff are always pleasant and they're always putting on fun events for kids of all ages (myself included ??)

AWESOME Family Fun! First off, the staff took ALL COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS SERIOUSLY! We all had on masks, the place was generously spaced and there were cleaning/hand sanitizer stations throughout the location. The staff were friendly and courteous, making our visit safe, fun and pleasant. PERFECT for families needing an activity!

Great skate rink and fun for most of the family! We've come tons of times now at different days/times and the ONLY issue is that there are a couple casuals who often ruin it for those younger skaters/those still learning as they speed past and cut through the middle of the rink. If you are a new or nervous skater, try to get comfortable on your skates and then come! The birthday parties and events are awesome and weekends have so many kids that the casuals don't cause as much of an issue. Food, drinks and m

You'll feel the vibe to skate as soon as you walk through the door. This rink knows how to make skating fun. Their staff is friendly and very accommodating. Take a skate lesson if you want to really learn how to skate. They play the best music that makes you want to move on skates. You'll find very tasty food in their cafe. They also have a game room and redemption counter. Be sure to take the entire family and make it quality time for everyone.

Great, friendly, clean environment. First time taking my 4 yr. old skating. She and I had a ball. I'm looking forward to coming back again.

Staff is very clean ODC , I REALLY ADMIRED all their hard work keeping the place very clean and provided a good skating atmosphere. Curtis 30 year member

Great place, but I wish there was a capacity limit There's a point where the place is full of kids, amateur skaters, and pro skaters. People start bumping and crashing which can really ruin the vibe

Had a great time going on a field trip with the S. T. E. M department to Skate Zone. went with a group of over 160 students plus staff/faculty, and accommodating all of us wuz no problem at all. prior to getting out on the rink, there wuz a Science lesson given to students related to movement. they had to test the speed of how fast the skates went down ramps made of three different surfaces (carpet, cardboard and flooring), as well as the distance traveled. students were also given a diagram of the parts of

Party for a 10 year old - Nice enviorment - Good Service - Security in place - skate gaurds - prices competitive - Kids were satisfied with the food -Kids love the gaming area - DJ played all of the latest songs - skaters race was nice for just about all ages- plenty of parking front, rear and off street

I visited twice. Once was in the summer last year and I was looking for something for the kids to do. Well, the kids (ages 2 and 6) loved it and my niece (23). They had shoe sizes for everyone. The price was reasonable. They opened for a specific time. They skated for 2 out of the 3 hour span. My 6 year old enjoyed it so much she asked for her party to be there. So, we had a party there 3 days ago. We got the middle level package. It came with 2 pizzas, favors, popcorn, nachos, veggie tray, and drinks

This was a nice clean facility. I got to take my daughter for the first time. They had all the required equipment including little learning PVC helper stands on wheels. All of the attendants were absolutely fantastic. I would definitely take my kids here again.

If you're looking for a 80?s to 90?s style skating rink this is the place to go. They have a DJ that coordinates fun game type things for everyone throughout the session. Snack bar isn't too bad either. They have full pizzas, wings, chicken tenders, etc?.

I'm writing this as I'm here now. I have never been here before, I go to Laurel Rink where I volunteer as a rink guard. Why two stars you ask? I'm 46 and today I fell not once but twice! Things I am witnessing: 1. People have cell phones in their hand. Not one announcement stating likewise. 2. I picked up and turned in two cell phones. 3. The guy skating with a large Contigo cup most likely filled with Hennessy because he smelled like it! 4. Jackets on the floor because this rink allows them to tie t

I find that charging parents to just come in and sit is absolutely ridiculous!!! If they skate, yes charge them! Almost $50 for me and two children with 2 skate rentals!!! Insanity!! $8 for an Icee??? Almost $7 to rent a walker??? Highway robbery!! The line for the concession stand took WAY TOO LONG!!! I was in line for almost 20 min!!! The place needs to be wider. It was so crowded you could barely get by. There was barely any place to sit. No tables were available at all. They definitely need to split

Amazing place :) Me and my class went here for a field trip and it was super fun! Also i learned how to skate here! All staff are pretty nice too!

There should be a limit on how many people. It's entirely to packed and can't move.. If your paying $10 a person even to watch you should be able to redo the floors that has been the same for at past 20yrs..

This location has a good staff. I wish this location would upgrade the restrooms, but overall this is a good place for a birthday party or just hanging out with friends.

Fun for Birthday Parties, especially 18 year olds that didn't want a big party, quiet days we have been told are usually Thursdays that is an adults mainly day, Saturday was busy and noisy

We often frequent here on homeschool skate days which is currently first Friday of the month. They have a great stem activity followed by skating 3hous for under $15. Parents are free unless you skate. I really wish they would offer these more often since we can't always make Fridays. If you ever want to have a fun day with your kids or our homeschooler definitely take off on a Friday and check out this event. They also have a great pizza meal deal. If your business or establishment offers a homeschool fiel

Enjoyed the day with family. Good customer service Clean, Decent size Rink, not big Bathrooms, are an interesting concept...low Can get very crowded on weekends whereas not enough space. Some seating.

Attended a birthday party here on a Friday evening. Although we overall all had fun, service was pretty decent, enjoyable games to play with a variety of prizes to select from with cashing in ticket winnings off gaming card, some staff members were friendly & actively helpful, but safety for beginners especially younger kiddos was poor that we experienced with a party of mixed levels of skaters. Children especially 8 years of age were bumped/knocked down by more experienced or speedy skaters. Sadly when I d

My cousin had his birthday party here. It was very nice. The kid loved it. I loved the whole layout and the atmosphere..I highly recommend and would come back

I haven't skated in a while. I'm in my 50s. Felt very unsteady. But the skate mates were a game changer. Seriously, Skate Zone needs to have skate time for 1. Adults only. 2. For anyone needing a skate mate. And 80s music!!!

I see why it's been around for 50 years, happy anniversary! Buffalo wings hit the spot w/ Ranch, Beer & Wine on tap, skates for rent, mini-arcade, workers are well-vested in keeping the place high quality.

Great place to bring the kids and grand kids. ??Very nice and helpful staff. ( Mondays are for littlest ones) Loads of fun for all. Try the French fries they are fresh, crispy, and amazingly delicious ?? Remember you can bring your kids scooters, tricycles, and small ride on's. ( they have some here too) Let's teach another generation what wholesome entertainment, music, and exercise is all about.?????? #Skatingisfun Keep these kind of places alive... support our small businesses.???? We need them for o

Had a blast for my Neices 18th birthday. Caterer party . Rink did a great job

Used to skate h?re in 70s w neighborhood kids.fri and sat nite was meet the local girls nites.1969 to mid 70s was the happening.spot.in all those years you.never saw an african american kid skating at bowie.for that matter neither latino or oriental kids either.same goes for benfield pines ice rink crowd was white.it was another time and plac?.they ?i?nt put up w/any bullshit from any kids either.

Very enjoyable, just a few nitpicks. Most of the employees where incredibly friendly, but one kept on coming up to me getting slowly angrier and angrier, for example! at first I stopped at the edge to talk to a friend and he blew his Whistle, (a very average, and reasonable response) but later he loudly (to a point where my ears hurt) berated me for stopping to help my friend up. I wasnt blocking anyone, and didn't stop for any longer then 10 seconds. He wasn't yelling at anyone else, just me. His cowork

Great place for kids and adults. I was impressed by how nice and welcoming the staff is every trip. We will definitely be back in the near future.

I had a great time taking my son there! I was happy to see they have kid walkers to help with skating, and the food was surprisingly decent, lol. However, some of the staff weren't very engaging and even seemed a bit rude. The young man managing the skates barely talked to anyone except his friend standing next to him. Overall, I would definitely return with my son and the rest of my family.

My youth group had a fun . The staff was friendly and helpful.

Complete scam of the arcade! We spent 50$ on a game card and got 0 tickets earned on our card after the first 10$ spent. Our card had earned 560 tickets after 10$ bucks and we ended with 580 AFTER SPENDING 40$ MORE DOLLARS! Complete scam never giving them money again.

Kids have a blast. Always check hours, don't assume they're open in evening (like I did). They have skate aids for $5 for beginners. Snack bar, skate rental, birthday parties

The staff here is nice and friendly. They do a great job catering to customers. The prices are fair. Except I hate that they charge for assisting cages. I wish they would stop charging for those. They have a new skating rink now. It's pretty and well kept. They host party's and fundraisers. They have a decent sized arcade and food court. Limited seating so come early. Their hours are fair. And the music is good. My only complaint is that they are supposed to be kid friendly and some music videos playing o

Really enjoyed taking the grandkids there. If you are a new skater, they do have the supporters to assist you as you skate. Bare in mind that the price goes up with each session of the day. They do have specials throughout the week.

Decent place. It costs about $13 per person to enter and rent skates there. Add $5 if you need to rent a mobile stand for a child. The food is a little pricey, but not too bad.

Had a lot of fun but was hoping there was more single men there lmao customer service was great everyone at work there was amazing

Well organized and decent. They have a large pothole in the middle of the parking lot so be careful. Good music. Nice staff

The kids had so much fun .they even had baby skates,,so cute to see my 1year old grandbaby trying to skate

Five stars because the cafe was super busy slanging Slushees and rocking out orders like professionals. Pizza was way better than I was expecting. Skate rink was decent sized and kept in good order. We went for Shark Week, and it was cool, but we didn't like how they kept stopping skate to play games. We just wanted to skate. Not many arcade games are available, and none of the vending machines were accepting cash or cards. They only offer a military discount on Wednesday, I believe I was told. Super plac

Perfect place to go with family and friends! The only bad thing is the lemon wings!

I've been here so many times and it's rlly cool????

5 stars across the board. Chase and Jace really took care of my group at the snack bar ...they were young professionals with such sweet spirits!! The rink itself was clean and modern! My baby girl had a great bday! We'd definitely patron Skate Zone again!

Rented the place out for my girls 10 yr b day!!! Went very smooth

My children went here for the first time with their church. They love Skate Zone after that! We go to skate zone as much as we can on the weekends when I don't have to work! The staff is professional, friendly, skillful with skating, and fun!

Always love this place. Cheap, fun, quick way to get out and get moving. Kids love the arcade games. Good variety of food/snack options. PVC skate helpers for the inexperienced littles. I've hosted and attended parties at Skate Zone and would recommend to all.

The only bad thing was the lemon pepper wings, omg they're so awful??

I drive my students there sometimes and it's a wonderful beautiful skate rink

Great time and excellent value for the kids. Snack bar pizza wasn't bad either.

Took my 11 yo nephew here. He has his own quad skates but wanted to try blades so he paid $5 of his own money for a skate rental. Had the skates all of ten minutes before asking for different skates or a refund due the slates being in such bad shape they were unwearable. They are like these old leather hockey skates that look like theyre as old as skate zone (50 yrs ??). Falling apart at every seem, lining ripping out, edges completely frayed. The rental counter staff said they were all like that so no poin

A bit smaller than what Im use to, but works. Updated space, inside looks really nice, and everyone had a great time. So much that I didn't take any pictures lol I'll post pictures next time

Safety precautions are not a concern at this rink. When I brought up safety concerns to the managers Chandler and Alexis, I was told skate at your own risk. My concern was for the number of children that had serious close calls with injuries. Very disheartening profit comes before children's safety. Update: A manager acknowledged they did not have adequate staff for the number skaters, particularly since the skaters were very young and inexperienced. The owner was more concerned about my rating rather tha

Had a great experience bringing my 1.5yo. They opened the rink to anything with wheels and it looked like everyone had a lot of fun. Admission was extremely reasonable and my interactions with staff were all great. Would recommend and intend to come again!

Went to a party here for my niece's 10th birthday. Pretty cool place, has an arcade and food court. They have skate assist rentals too.

Everyone was super sweet and patience. Due to some technical difficulties Sunday afternoon, they handled the crowd very well. I had some ballons, that someone gave me from their party they just had. Unfortunately, you cannot bring in ballons if you did not book for a birthday party reservation, the manager explained to me very nicely, which is totally fine. I had a great time even though we only got to skate for 1 hour due to the issue they had with the power.

Awesome skating rink with fun music! Had to subtract a star since anyone above size 13 is forced to wear these!! ?? At least they still roll! IG: @millennialmax

This is the place for my family and friends. We come here a lot we have lots of birthdays parties here and we also had friends do there kids birthdays parties here also. We always had a wonderful time. Our party host were always on time with it. My kids love that they play skate games and they always look forward to them. I drive about 25 minutes ones or twice a week to go here for the kids to enjoy. Music is always good. Everyone working here is wonderful great people.. This is the place for my family and

The website does NOT say Anything about Parents or Adults who are NOT skating still being charged $10 admission. Also no mention of split times to skate 1st session 1pm to 3:30pm then u must leave & pay again for the next session ????! This is needed information for 1st time patrons & last time for me. The bathroom wreaked of urine. DO Better Skate Zone!!!

We went there for the 1st time on Sat, Feb 17th. This place is pretty neat. It was crowded and had a wide range of people, young and old, but everyone navigated the rink perfectly. Great music and some great skaters on the floor! Also, you can rent the entire facility out for parties!!!

The male front desk personnel is very rude. They CHARGE chaperones/ parents who's not skating a fee to stay with child. Also this place will allow a kid of any age to be left to skate . I was told kids as young as 6 can be left at the skating facility without an adult being present. I was told it falls on the parent If they want to leave their child. I also was told they've had to call the police because 6 and 7 year old were left at their faculty after the skating rink closed. MONEY OVER SAFETY.

This is not our normal place to skate. But it was a good experience. We had fun. The skates aren't great. Everything else is.

Unfortunately we won't be back. Came here on an elementary field trip with my niece and nephew and the experience was very poor. Unfriendly and rude treatment from staff and the owner. One parent who works in customer service tried to speak with him and the gentleman put his hand in her face. I was totally shocked and disgusted for her. Will not recommend taking your kids here. Go to Wheels on 175 behind the post office! They are always nice and professional there. To the response from owner: Thank you fo

This past weekend my family and I had a gathering at Skate Zone and we had a blast! Amazing Customer Service: ***** Our experience at Crofton Skate Zone was nothing short of fantastic! The exceptional staff at the entrance displayed remarkable composure and professionalism when dealing with a challenging customer. Despite the customer becoming a bit rowdy, the staff remained composed and deescalated the situation through reassurance. The ability to handle such situations with grace and calmness deserves r

The food was good but the skates were uncomfortable. That when you buy an arcade card you don't get change back. You also have to give a shoe for skates and some skates don't have laces. The food too expensive. The customer service was terrible. But the only thing I liked was that the kids stake for free.

I mean where do i even began. If i could leave negative 5 stars i would. I was there skating with my boys along while a beautiful school field trip was ending. I noticed a woman of color ask for a manager to help service the large group of children. The young lady at the desk was nothing short of temperamental, rudeness & all around nastiness. Now is that how we conduct business in today?s time? No i don't think so! Now where it gets even more disturbing/ disgusting is when the manager is yelling at said wo

We went on a day they were having a STEM event. They had an hr of skating and an hr of a STEM project. My kids absolutely loved it. The food is a little expensive, but that's a given at any place like this. We will definitely be going back.

Friendly staff, manager Scott is great?. Could use a floor makeover though.

Took my 3 almost 4 year old for his first time skating and we had a blast! We went during the week and there were still kids to skate with but not crazy full. The music was cool, the staff friendly, and the rink in great condition. We will certainly go back.

I paid for my daughter to rent skates and a skate-mate. The cashier said to show the wristband at rentals and she could get them both. But at the rental counter the attendant said she had to have a receipt (which we were never provided) so they wouldn't give her the skatemate. I'm very disappointed with this business. Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
