Skate Away USA

Skate Away USA

Reviews Summary

Skate Away receives mixed reviews, with many praising the fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and family-friendly environment, especially for parties and kids. However, criticisms include rude or unprofessional behavior from some staff, outdated facilities, questionable rental skate quality, and occasional safety concerns. The pizza is often disliked, and some find policies like spectator fees unfair. While most enjoy the skating and laser tag, issues like understaffing, poor maintenance, and inconsistent service impact the experience. Positive highlights include accommodating special needs and nostalgic charm, but negative incidents, like harassment or reckless skating, deter some visitors.

Great place to take your kids for a fun time! We went to a birthday party. It's lasted 2 hours. All the kids got free skates, tokens for the the video games, and it came with a private room. My daughter had an absolute blast.

I went to visit my grandson's 6th birthday party ?? ??. His momma, brother & sisters were there along with grandma. It brought back memories of the night I met grandma back in 1975 in this building. It is a decent place for a young child's birthday party, they don't notice the outdated equipment, video games and...well everything. Everyone seemed to enjoy the party, I know I did.

Bad place of business you turning your shoes to get a pair of skates when done you turn your skates in and get your shoes back but they don't have your shoes back there to give them to you so now your kid is out of a pair of shoes and they don't think that they should replace them at all and when you confront them they get the cop involve that they are paying for that night one is cool the other thinks because he got a badge and a gun he can talk to you any kind of way and acted like he wanted to try me cau

So you're not allowed to bring drinks In this place BUT if the employees feel like you've left THEY WILL THROW YOUR DRINKS IN YHE TRASH!! It doesn't matter if your stuff is sitting at the table or not then that sorry ass cracker basically expected me to buy 3 more drinks for 3 more people.

Overall, it was an ok experience. Cash only but there is an ATM, only $2 fee I think. There are a few unsafe areas on the rink floor that need to be addressed but if you avoid them, it's a relatively smooth skate.

Family fun for cheap. Kind of. ... $8 entrance and $2 skates $3 blades. If you need to go outside you have to pay a dollar. That is not a way to get a family to do a birthday party especially if Grandma only came to watch her grandchild open presents. There has been no maintenance or updates since we started coming. Warped areas on the hardwood floor makes it dangerous for many. Seems as if there is a group of children that are either regulars or children of staff that are allowed to break the rules. It

Laser tag was fun but they were understaffed in so many aspects. The tickets weren't dispensing for two different machines and I had to wait bout half an hour to get somebody. The basketball game only had 1 ball available because the other three were stuck at the top of the net because mugs can't shoot. The staff where very friendly and offered good service when they were free to do so. But yeah, not a good look when the ticket redemption period closes hours before the place closes. They do have two handed

It was nice to see so many people having fun. It's a nice place and the staff are wonderful.

Had birthday party on January 18th 2025 for my daughter. Super star w/added Lazer tag was over $200.00. Pizza was cold, brought ice cream same time as Pizza and drinks. Ice cream melted by the time kids got around eating it. Lazer tag the guns didn't work, they had to keep switching out and didn't really get to play ,game was over. Roller blades are in bad shape. Tokens for the games, half the games don't work took the token's, charge extra $5 for the roller that helps little ones skate. Only 2 hours everythi

Tried to bring family skating. Have a couple kids that don't like to skate and was not allowed in unless you have skates on the whole time! Which they cant do because they are afraid to skate. They were going to play at arcade. But instead we had to leave, we were prepared to spend good money at this establishment. We will not be back. What a joke

There food was pretty good especially the pizza I fell a few time but that was my fault.LOL

my kid loves it she had a birthday party love it

I'm a new resident in greenwood. Me and my two friends were looking for something wholesome to do in our free time on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience with the staff. Not only was he repeatedly harassing us and surrounding us and hovering over us as we sat. But the manager Justin made rude comments and ?jokes? about the harassment stating the new employee was just excited. He informed us that the employee would be sent home and he never was. We heard Justin speak very rudely to

This place was amazing! The food was good and the employees were helpful. I loved the music, it was perfect for a family and very clean.

UT was fun nobody got hurt all fun in rollerskating

This place has been around for a very long time. They've done some improvements on the inside but the driveway and parking lot needs much improvements. It's the same asphalt there when I was a teenager in the late 70's. So be careful driving through bc if you don't you'll hit a pothole.

The fact that you have to pay $12 to sit and watch your kids skate is absolutely crazy. The floor was slick in several spots, making it unsafe. Also, the fees should be posted somewhere, inside or online. Trash everywhere, deputies standing around on their phone. Do better, Greenwood.

Very rudepeople throw your drinks away when you put them on the table skates r bad do not tack your family here they know if theythrow your drinks away kids are going to want more and you have to pay for them scam that's what it is I watch them do it all night and the goofy looking dude with the glasses that is on a microphone is the main one

Very fun place to bring your kids and family. The employees have great customer service and are always willing to help out!

Good music good fun for kids

Me and my friends had a good time. The rental skates quality was decent. The music wasn't annoying pop music and they took song requests. The place looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80s though, could really use some remodeling in my opinion.

Be sure to bring cash. They do not take cards. Floor was recently redone and looks good. Place is a bit small and cramped with arcade games. Good place for a reasonably priced kids birthday party.

They really need a separate area for the arcade games. There's no room to walk, half of the games didn't work, and the employees were rude. ?? The little kids were basically getting run over by the other skaters. My suggestion is to expand the building, have a separate room for games, and a separate room for kids to practice and skate

The employees there are amazing and have great customer service!! I definitely recommend coming here to have a great time. PS they just did the skate floor and it's super grippy !!

It was fun but they need a floor guard. Fell really hard because some kid spilled water all over the place. The drinks are way to expensive. Had a fun time though. The music was awesome.

Overall I was highly disappointed with the service when it came to redeeming prize first off worst selection for amount of tickets required but the service was absolutely horrible took so long to get waited on with the guy who must own the place in front of us to service us that another customer gave me his ticket which I gave away... safe to say he definitely lost customer tonight

Man? I can't think no other place that is fun like Skate Away USA. It's lots of fun, AWESOME employees, and they throw the best birthday parties.

Love bringing the kids here. The pizza is amazing as well. Laser tag arcade and skating you can't beat it. Family friendly atmosphere would recommend over and over again!

We had a birthday party here a few days ago and added on the mini golf. We were incredibly disappointed in the golf part. I'm not sure how it's considered "updated" - it was rundown with weeds, rust, peeling paint, etc. There's a small pool for what might once have been a water feature but it was stagnant, dirty water with trash in it. Even the kids were commenting on how run-down it was. Worst of all, the entire course is completely infested with fire ants. They were EVERYWHERE, not just in the gras

My niece and nephew love this place (6 and 7)! We take them every couple of weeks to the 2-5 sessions and always have a great time...it is reasonably priced and the staff is always great!

When I went. My two little sisters and my mom went. Everyone was out of control. Cussing. Running over little kids. My family was walking out and the teenage boy ran over my little sister. Teenagers were tackling each other. It was cray. Definitely do not recommend to anyone.

Youth shouldn't be allowed to be there alone. Especially when they are not mannerable. Caused problems for families trying to enjoy their time out

Clean place. Friendly place. Family owned. Safe. Its nice to go to a place thats well ran. Cash only though...they do have a atm on site. Outside food and drink not allowed but they have plenty of great options available inside which is great. They have party rooms.

My daughter was approached by a girl and asked to fight. My daughter went to the desk were staff was located to get to an adult to let the defuse the situation instead they just sat their and watched the other girl ask my daughter to fight multiple times. Then then girl started to attack my daughter in which my daughter proceeded to defend herself. Now she is banned from coming to the skating ring for life unless accompanied by an adult. She is a straight A student never been in a fight and was the victim

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. The owners son/manager Justin is a rude arrogant individual to kids. If the parent isn't right with the kid he talks to them like they are a dog. I do NOT recommend anyone going here. It won't let me reply to your response to my review, so I will do it here. My child was not doing anything wrong. I spoke of nobody but Justin. He slammed a trash can into my kid being a smart butt. If I had it to do over again I would of pressed charges. As a matter of fact I think I?

Took all the kids today and even though the website said they were open, they were closed. Thankfully, I'm assuming the owner, pulled up and he let us skate for 2 hours with a discount since we drove over half an hour away to skate. We nearly had the place to ourself and the kids weren't disappointed at all!

I took my granddaughters there to skate, it was ok but they don't accept debt/credit cards and the ATM wasn't working. I Had to drive to a ATM inorder to get cash, any business should have a ATM if they don't accept debit/credit card. My granddaughters had a great time.

Parents are required to pay to watch their children while the kids are skating. It's called a ?spectator fee? is what I was told. Extremely disappointed and have changed my mind about doing a party because adults would have to pay to enter. Poor business practice!!

Paid for the super star party and added on a extra pizza and lazer tag. The party was great, the pizza left something to be desired. The only real issue we had was the staff apparently let's their children play laser tag with everyone which I am not happy about since I paid for my party to play and their children just got in the way.

Had a good time music was good service was great they just redone the skate floor place was clean laser tag was awesome fun games and they have the best pizza.

I recently went back for a school party and they have did better since my last 1 star the place could definitely use some major updating and tender love and care to the place in a whole but the customer service was so much better this time like night and day .

We did a birthday party at Skate Away. It was so easy. All the teenagers had a blast. Skate. Laser Tag. Pizza. Drinks. I did not have to do anything. The staff even cleaned up. Perfect place to do a party. Everyone had a great time.

Daughter and her friend was put out on the street for not having a mask on. They had one but simply asking them to put it on was not good enough. Was kicked out and not even allowed to wait in the parking lot. What kind of establishment won't even let kids wait on their parents in the parking lot. Poorly managed and frankly is a delapidated relic of the community. Use to be a good place years ago. Now is nothing more than an abandoned warehouse with Christmas lights.

Attended a birthday party. It was nice, but felt rushed. Lines were to long. They should stagger their party times. It was 30 min after the party started that everyone got in and got skates. Alittle ridiculous for a 2 hour party.

Great place for beginner skaters to learn (not too crowded), just beware of some daring kid skaters, lol. My only issue with this place is that the floor over to the front side near the game machines has a warp that can cause you to lose balance and fall, & if that ever happens to me & I'm injured badly, I will sue b/c I've complained to them about it and have told them to mark that part of the floor with a taped X (until they can fix it) but they haven't and I respect that b/c it's their business. I like

Compliment and keep reading for the awful result my children love going here. The owner Justin, has always been very helpful so I have trusted him and his staff with my treasures. HOWEVER, last night, Saturday, May 4th, 2019. My beautiful 12 year old wa being harassed by a older boy. No she didnt complain. She is not that type nor did she think anything would come from it. Well. This boy came up to her and punched her so hard in. The stomach for asking him to leave her alone. She could not go tattle becaus

Well I fell and busted my 38 yr old rear but hadn't been on skates in ab 20 years! ???? l love the nostalgia of the skating rink and taking the kids to skate! Not many rinks left anymore and this one is great. And yummy food! Excellent service.

Fun place good customer service family and kid friendly would recommend

We need a bigger, better skate rink for kids and the entire family. Too dark in the parking lot. The parking lot is a hot mess. Too many kids just hanging out in the shadows of the parking lot, doesn't seem safe

I absolutely love this place !!! Great environment and a great place to bring the kids to play and have fun !!! Great atmosphere and great staff !!!

I love this place but when I was here a few hours ago I went to skate and I had a hoodie over my drink and little box bag, someone stole my phone charger, $6, and two pieces of gum then threw the box bag in the trash. So now I don't have a charger and I'm broke. I'm just happy they didn't take my airpods ?? but my stuff is gone.

Usually pretty good but the last time we went for my daughters birthday and they turned the lights out on us about 15 before closing because the young girls working were obviously ready to go

Staff was friendly and the place was super clean. The manger was super helpful and I can't wait to go again soon.

Absolutely horrible!!! Blonde with braid pigtails behind the counter was a complete b!tch. What the hell is the point of spending $60 on games if the damn girl behind the counter is standing around refusing to take the tickets so the kids can get there prizes. She was rude as hell. Even shut the damn light off behind the counter so we'd go away. She said she was helping the other girl but she just stood there doing NOTHING!!!!!!! F her!! Horrible horrible customer service. That damn cun+ owes my kid a apolo

Friday nights and sat nights alot of children are unattended we would go back and forth to our full drinks on the table in-between our breaks the snack bar threw our full drinks away . We confronted the manager at a distance , while confronting him he stepped in my brothers face about to start a fight. He needs to be fired.

My kids love it but the owner is so rude so my daughter will not go at all my boys only like it because their friends go.

This place is terrible. They put the freezer, where pizza and other food is, RIGHT next to skates are. You can see it clearly, to the left. Super gross. The pizza is sprayed with I don't know and it takes FOREVER. No one "works" there. The girls are so rude, not even a smile. I do not recommend wasting your money.

It's really fun and cool and there drinks are amazing and Same with food it's also my favorite place to go on weekends or Fridays

I took my 3 kids one is 4 one is 8 and one just turned 11. There was teens who where throwing a ball on the rink and threw it at my 8 year old daughter in the back. My kids about got ran over by them, knocked down and the only thing that was done was the ball was taken away. Please do not being your kids here.

How mediocre can a business be? Stop by here and have a look to find out. It took 10 minutes for a cashier to arrive up front to let us into the rink area. No one there seems to be really interested in delivering any customer service of any sort. Antique skates for rent. Generic and lukewarm concessions. It just seems like, at best, none of the employees give a rip about their work.

Just as it was many moons ago, very accommodating for our private party! Fun times here! The Miniature Golf course is now open as well!

The Google page shows times for Sunday session is 2pm till 5pm. 4 of us drove down from Anderson to skate. Stood at door from 1:55 until 2:30 when someone in the growd of about 15 standing in waiting pulled up the website and noticed the calendar had no time for session today only private parties and after looking at page noticed no sessions on Sunday during the summer.... Wasn't posted on door nor any change in time on Google page. Highly disappointed with the experience.

Fun and Retro atmosphere. Food was good and kids enjoyed the skating. The place could use a good cleaning, everything that I touched felt grimy.

I think they need a staff member that is not a teenager. It is impossible to get waited on at the snack bar. 3 kids back there to work and noone waits on you. To be fair...its always like that. Just my opinion.

Expensive in order to rent a skate buddy you must pay 5 for it when u don't get to keep the skate buddy and the skates have hair all in the wheels. But over all is fun place to take kids.

Nice place the kids always have fun but the pizza is horrible needs to change big time especially for parties or either let people who wants to have a party there to bring their own food

Book For My Lil Girl Birthday Party The Staff Was Rude & disrespectful ask for the manger & never showed up will not be coming back !

This place is always friendly with people who work within our community. Who doesn't love skating? Even has a full LAZER TAG arena ?? it's a no brainer for coming here. Why I have consistently for years, it's nice to support my money to a good place.

Skating there is fun. But most of the stuff they serve on the menu they dont have. And the most popular stuff that sell is either broken or they dont have any. The worst money stealing machine there is the vending machines. If you insert a quarter, it wont except it and it won't give youre money back. Sometimes it will work. And sometimes you cant even get what you want eventhough its in there. The workers at the food court are rude and play to much that they dont have pizza or popcorn ready to serve, and w

The owner of skateaway is very UNPROFESSIONAL I witness tonight to him talking to the CHILDREN like they were animal & kicking them out for no apparent reason they wasn't even the problem Ijs. So parents do not leave your child unattended because i definitely wouldn't want my child treated this way & I would not recommend a party there for kids nor be back visiting!!!

Very good price! Nice putt putt course with lots of intriguing scenery! Very fun, Turf is excellent condition..... lots of photo opportunities????!!! 10/10 fun experience

Not enough adult supervision on a Friday or Saturday night. Good selection of music. Food doesn't taste good at all.

Fun as always but maintenance needs to be done on the skates and the carpeted area really needs to be deep cleaned.

My daughter loves coming here to skate. Great skate ring for the whole family. Clean, good all around. They also have a putt putt course.

It's ok .... Saturday night crowd is a little unruly recommend other times

I'm a parent who used to skate in MN. hockey and roller skates. I give them two stars for allowing me to use my indoor wheel rollerblades. Their decently priced but the quality of the rental skates are questionable and employees skating are reckless. One knocked my 9 year old daughter down and broke her finger. it was fun while lasted but I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

Loved the fact they accommodated my daughter who has cerebal palsy and uses a walker

This place is pretty good the food needs an improvement but yeah the people is pretty nice and the floor needs to be waxed other than that I learned a few new tricks there

The kid's and parents are rude and fight. We may try to visit during the day. Could definitely use some cleaning and expanding and security men.

Place is awesome!! Had so much fun can't wait to go back! :)

Kids loved it. Staff wasnt very friendly but I've heard the staff during the week is much better and more personable.

Just had a great birthday party for my daughter and it was amazing staff was great and very accommodating will definitely have another party here again

WOW! I Never even heard of this place was just in the area with some kids who needed something to do and i needed a Break! I Tell you though ill come back to the area just to come here again.. These kids are already buggin me to go back #WINNINGPARENTMOMENT

Great local business that's fun for kids and kids at heart, perfect venue for birthday parties. Recent "adult skate" night was a nostalgic blast! Can't wait to go again

New skates and 2 new skaters!

Love it. Take my son quiet often &- even had his birthday there. Always a good time here.

1st class customer service . Skate Away is a local business that offers a true family friendly environment . This management team proves that top notch entertainment doesn't have to cost a fortune !

Used to bring the kids but the place is getting worse and worse. Every time you pull up there are kids running around the parking lot unsupervised and always hearing about fights and things getting stole.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
