Shaker Bowl

Shaker Bowl

Reviews Summary

Shaker Bowl receives mixed reviews, with many praising its clean, family-friendly atmosphere, helpful staff, and fun experience (especially for kids' parties). Common positives include modern equipment, good food, and automatic bumpers. However, several criticize high pricing ($45/hour lanes), inconsistent lane maintenance (broken bumpers, ball return issues), and poor customer service in handling complaints or promotions. Some find it overcrowded or outdated. While league bowlers report frustration with limited rate availability, casual visitors often enjoy the vibe despite occasional technical glitches. The divide is stark—happy customers rate it 4-5 stars, while dissatisfied ones cite management issues and value concerns as dealbreakers.

Customer Reviews

At this point, this place is becoming completely fraudulent. This is the third time the company has sent a coupon/offer to my email or through a local event promotion, only to tell me they don't accept those coupons. What?? I gave some grace the first couple of times because the company had somewhat recently changed management (though I still think they should have honored the promotions), but I literally was emailed a promotion YESTERDAY only to be told TODAY they wouldn't accept it. I refuse to be tricked

I come here every week for a league and the staff works brilliantly and they are friendly! The food is excellent and most of the time arrives really fast. The only criticism I have is when I come here not on league the timing system makes it really hard to bowl a game and eat and enjoy your limited time at the bowling alley. It can be expensive but the saying is, "You get what you pay for" so i guess it equals out at the end of the day and provides a welcoming, entertaining, and friendly experience for bowl

I came to Springfield to visit family for the holidays, and on Christmas I brought the family here to bowl. The place wasn't too crowded so we had our own seating area to bowl. We had the last lane (#28) at first but the bowling machine kept on breaking, so the staff switched us to #27 and it was good for the rest of the time. The food took like 40 mins to come (they had a lot of orders), but the food is actually really good! We ordered two burgers, buffalo wings buffalo pizza, and curly fries. They were al

Clean, busy and fun! We took our kids for the Galactic bowling and although it was not how it was described on the website, it was a great time. Would be nice if they played some rock or some other kind of music in the mix too! Staff was friendly and helpful.

Decided to spend an afternoon just my spouse and I. Place was clean. Staff was great answering questions. We watched as they quickly but carefully cleaned up any food items. We also witnessed employees actually spraying down the shoes between renters. The town has a mask mandate which the staff followed as did the majority if patrons. Furniture was set well for the space. All the equipment appeared to be in working order. Small arcade space, lockers, restrooms and drink bar available. Reasonably priced.

Great, friendly service. The mechanic moved quickly to resolve an issue with the pinsetter. Food was great with friendly service, and everyone at the front counter was very accommodating. Awesome experience!

Thursday night bowling. Great deal but terrible 70s music the whole time. We asked if they could play something more lively with some recommendations. Said they would and disappeared, but there was no change. ??

We had a great time here with the kids. I hadn't bowled in a while. I loved how the bumpers can be set to automatically come out for certain people. Also the Dino ball slides for the kids are great, much safer for everyone.

Always have a great time bowling on the weekends with my grandchildren. Great friendly staff. Clean and happy Atomsphere! Bar and cafe serving fried food/pizza options. Didn't eat this time. Bowling Balls and rental shoes seemed very sanitized. Bowling area very clean. I didn't get the sweat smell you usually have at bowling alleys. Fun ambiance. 2 games and 3 people came to $55. Great weekend had! Love this place ! Will definitely come again. Restrooms were clean and lots of parking on the side as well a

It's fun! Whole crew very attentive and friendly smile. Lines move quickly, and rent/payment dynamic shows no problem. I wished they had a better menu, or at least more options, but I guess they gotta keep it as bowling alley- not restaurant. At least they have beer; Harpoon IPA! Accept all major credit cards and wheelchair accessible.

Went bowling for a work related gathering and had a great time. Staff was professional and courteous. Food was good for a bowling alley.

Far too expensive and unaffordable now. $45 per hour per lane for 2 lanes comes to $200 for 2 hours for a family, which is ridiculous (this service cost ~$100 five years ago). We will be finding a more affordable alley now.

Little on the expensive side for a family night, but not too bad. Everything runs well and is clean. If you enjoy bowling, you'll have a great time. Most of the people there are nice and the staff is helpful.

I used to be in a league at Shaker Bowl and come here often. Now this business looks like it's being run by AI. The website and social media include massive blocks of text and no information about what things actually cost, which is 3x more than before they were bought out. I can no longer afford to go to my local bowling alley, where I've been going for almost 25 years. The only thing they did well was keep most of their former staff. Save your money and go to Spare Time in Northampton.

Great place for a night of bowling ??

2024 kids bowl free program has an update on it's terms and conditions. So a heads up to families DO NOT TAKE A BREAK TO PURCHASE FOOD because your being timed. We added the family package for the 3rd year in a row and now each player ONLY gets 20mins of play. Although it's our responsibility to read T&C, it would?ve been a nice courtesy to have it posted by the register. We understand your establishment is under new management but you still have the same employees who know our family.

The bowling feels a little bit on the expensive side, but you also get what you pay for. The atmosphere is fantastic! Clean, good sized bowling balls, there are arcade machines on both sides. Good food and drinks for both kids and adults. One thing I thought was interesting is they have bowling visual themes, like if you want to do a Halloween theme in February you can!

Cute alley that has really nice high tech alleys. The bumpers go up automatically for the kids, lots of fun!

Very fun place for family and friends to enjoy!!

I signed my family up for Kids Bowl Free for summer of 2024. We went to use it and we were informed we could only bowl for 20 minutes. You can't even finish 1 game in 20 minutes. And then to charge $35 or $45 for 1 hour of bowling is crazy. I'll be bowling at Chicopee AMF from now on. Can't wait to see what leagues will be charging...

We threw my daughter?s 5-year birthday party here and it was a great experience. The young woman who helped us was thoughtful and proactive. She helped tremendously in making everything smooth and fun. I highly recommend this place. They have great ramps and guard rails for the youngsters and the lights, pizza, and beverages were also terrific.

Great employees and atmosphere. Generally lanes are in good condition.

Great place to bowl. I love the atmosphere. Good food and great service.

Said that kids can bowl free for 20 min. Kids were in the system and when we went they charge us full price. Don't say kids bowl free and when you get there you pay full price .not ever going there again.. both boys were signed up and they said they don't do free bowl anymore, they lied right to our face . Shaker bowl is not the place to go....Ask for a refund and couldn't even do that . Not a good place.

Great atmosphere, has a bar and everything.

Had a great time as always. This place is never a let down

Yes, it's a bowling alley but don't judge to quickly. The food here is excellent. I tried this Honey mustard chicken wrap with curly fries and was impressed by the quality.

Great establishment but has changed negatively for the league bowler experience. League rates are impossible to get if you happen to have a 9-5. League rates are only available during working hours and not on Friday-Sunday. If you're casual it doesn't matter. As a league bowler you may want to look into bowlero chicopee where they treat the league bowlers better.

They've gone to an hourly rate (it's $45ish for the lane and shoes for two players), and they just ring you up for an hour without mentioning that you can do 30 or 45 minutes. Also, they don't mention that your game can literally end with a ball on the lane in the ninth frame of a game. Asked for clarification of this at the front desk, and was met with blank stares by both of the staff on duty. This is an obvious cash grab to try to turn their lanes over more, but absolutely awful from a user experience pe

If you want some good casual games I recommend Shaker Bowl! The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5-star review is the odd music selection that they played at the time as well as my experience with the lanes my group was using. We constantly had issues such as the screen freezing, the balls not returning, and at one point one of our balls returned down the lane next to us in the gutter somehow. But despite these issues the staff were VERY quick to fix these problems with no hesitation. The drink and f

I liked this place. This was my first time coming here. I am so use to candle pin bowling though. But anyways the floors were clean the staff were nice and helpful. They sell food here and there is also tables and chairs you can sit down at. The inside of this place is big it has like 30 lanes I think. This is a ten pin bowling ally which means the pins are fat and the ball are big with holes In them. I came here on a date with this girl I met many years ago. But anyways the parking lot was big with handi

Fun place for a family day or a group outing.

It was $60 for a timed hour of bowling for three people. The lane automatically shut off in the fifth frame of the third game. It's just not affordable for us. I will say the updates to the center are nice and I wish the owners nothing but the best.

My 7year old daughter & all her friends had a great time last month celebrating her birthday at Shaker bowl. They were very welcoming and very patient with the kids. We all had a great time. Our hostess was very nice and helpful. I recommend this place a 100%.

Typical bowling alley, in a good way! Great spot to bring the kids, they have cute alligator ramps and bumpers for the younger ones. All staff was friendly and attentive, quick to respond to any issues. They keep the place clean and running smoothly. Can't ask for anything else!

The pricing is rediculous, $45 an hour is absurd. this is NO WHERE NEAR the industry standard for pricing. The average price for renting a lane is $4.79 in the United States. You're much better off traveling chicopee or northampton. even though it is a ways away youll still pay less even with travel. On top of that whoever is responding to there reviews is overly condescending to all of the negative reviews, they clearly have no care for the consumer and are out for the money. My buddies and I used to com

I went there for my birthday, had a great time! Got a good deal. We played a couple games and it was a fun time. After we played we ate at there restaurant. The food was very good. The wings were amazing....only negative would be that the look of the place was outdated and needed some up grade. But overall was a good time.

It was a fun time. They seem good about sanitizing and distancing, however the patrons are not great about wearing masks and there's little they do to reinforce it. We'll probably wait until vaccinated to go back. The lanes are pretty good and it's nice to have the bumper option and dragons - the kids had a good time.

Staff is amazing. This spot offered more than expected. Fun environment and good clean fun! Birthdays are fun here as well. Plan ahead if you're going mid to late wknd as this place fills up quick, but much to occupy your time while you wait.

The environment is very spacious and accessible to those with disabilities to go bowling. The staff are very welcoming and assist in any way necessary. Good place overall. The food I had was edible, but not excellent. The menu selection could be refreshed every couple of weeks, just for variety.

Very nice! Has an exciting atmosphere and good eats. Prices aren't that bad either. My parents used to participate in league bowling here, the place has changed a bit but retains a quality that i can't help but be impressed with.

Went for all night bowling, was impressed with the facilities. Lanes have small tables and comfortable chairs for when you are waiting your turn to bowl. Computers were easy to use, although did make scoring mistakes from time to time. Food was decent but only fried food was offered during the all night bowling. Will bowl here again.

Shaker bowl was a pretty decent price for the price. We went there from 9-12 and each bowled for 3 hours for 20 each. There was a Dj playing music and flashing lights. They also offered food and beer for sale to make everyone happy. I would definitely go again and would have no issue bringing a group of people. We had a great y8me at this event which take place on Friday night

We reserved a lane for my family with special needs person. When we arrived the bumpers would nort work. I asked for a different lane or some kind of compensation for ruining a special needs persons birthday and the manager was rude and told me I would have to take it up with spare time and they could not give a refund. This place is in shambles and they obviously have no intention of fixing it up. Beware and go somewhere else. I assume some of these reviews are from people who work there because it is defi

came from NY just to finally get some bowling in after FIVE MONTHS without it and was welcomed with OPEN arms. house is up to date, clean, friendly, family friendly, and very serious about sanitation for each guests safety. location has a wide, organized inventory of house balls to use, a bar & grille, and some games for the kiddos. definitely returning and thank this establishment for their continued business during this pandemic, we THANK YOU and your state!

It's a great bowling alley. Recent upgrades are awesome. Still some archaic bowling alley stuff but super friendly and helpful staff make the place comfortable and fun for kids. $5/game per person. $4 for a pair of shoes to rent on a Friday afternoon. Highly recommend.

Super, super, SUPER small inside. Very limited space. Maybe 20 lanes total...more than half of which are taken up by birthday parties on the weekends. There is absolutely no room and the place just looks chaotic when you walk in. Not a big distance from where the couches are to where the lanes are so if you are one of those bowlers that need a great distance to work your stuff before you throw your ball I would assume this isn't the place for you. Staff is wonderful here tho and the food is excellent.

I haven't been bowling in YEARS took my 12 y/o daughter staff was AWESOME. We bowled from 10pm until 1am for a set price which was nice....lil bit pricey but I fully understand why! My daughter has been talking about it ever since!!! BEST TIME IN A LONG TIME

Went out to see if we can bring a larger group to Shaker Bowl for my son's birthday. Had a very crappy experience, no customer service the only lady that was working there was really standoffish not offering any information. Looks like that place doesn't need any business. Hoped for better because it's not too far from our home, but what can you do, no service no business, will take my business elsewhere.

I been to Shaker Bowl and the Staff are pretty friendly. Every time I've been there, I've gotten the 8 pound ball and it's not too heavy for me to carry to the alley. The last few I been to Shaker Bowl, I've gotten a 9 pound ball and it's not too heavy either. The vending machines are nice too, they have a nice selection of snacks and candy too. They also have a drink vending machine too that has a lot of drinks to choose from.

Clean, renovated small arcade decent food cheap beverages. Solid spot.

We had a wonderful birthday party experience this morning!!! Booking the party with Justin, the manager, was a breeze earlier in the month!!! He gladly took the time to answer all of my questions and offered helpful suggestions! Over the past decade we have celebrated 5 years of birthday parties at Shaker Bowl. It's always a great time for all the kids!!! Just loved how the DJ 'shouted out' for the birthday kiddo by name! Also love how your party experience is at the lanes now instead of having to divide yo

Just had our kids birthday party here. They did an amazing job and it was priced appropriately based on how many kids attended. This is by far the best value for the money. Definitely would recommend!

Me and my family loved it the food the girl who was in the kitchen was so nice and attentive. Skme updare would be nice and the guys in the front should be more nicer and attentive. Overall is a cool place to enjoy with family.

My dad bowls on the retirement league here and I will usually bowl a few games with him when I am in town. They take good care of the lanes and I have rarely seen any detrimental problems with the pinsetters or ball return. The restaurant here is great and everything I have tried has been wonderful. They have a few beers on tap after noon. There is a small pro shop that can take care of your equipment. They have a small selection of items in the store but they are happy to order anything you need. They h

This use to be a great place until tjlhey begin changing by hour. You pay 35 dollar which out shoes. So you pay 35 dollars for one game

A relatively small sized bowling alley for kids and adults. Attended a birthday party with young kids. The balls provided were the extra small size used by adults which were still heavy for young kids. Does not have much sitting space for friends or family accompanying the players. Restrooms were clean. Has a small cafe. Birthday party packages serve pizza and drinks. Have quite a big parking lot with ample slots. Right on the road with a large sign board, so easily visible.

The kids were very friendly that worked their the place was clean but I felt that they had us sitting side-by-side ii each other in the bowling lane so I kept my mask on the whole time I'm worried from the covet and I only saw two hand sanitizer stations but other than that had a great time food was good

Great environment. Wish the arcade was bigger. The lane we had was broken and kept resetting after every roll. Annoying but still had fun.

We recently had a family party at Shaker Bowl and we're extremely happy with space, bowling options and especially the helpful and friendly employees! Couldn't have been a better experience for all of our family members!! Thanks so much, Shaker Bowl!!

Probably the worst bowling alley I've ever been to. Looks great inside but that's just how they lure you in. I have been on multiple Tuesday nights which is supposed to be their "good deal" for 12 dollars all you can bowl after 9. However they stop serving pitchers very conveniently also at 9 and beers become at least 4 bucks a pop. The lane we were on broke twice to the point where we invaded the lane of the nice family next to us due to the lanes decisions. Staff here is extremely rude, when I asked if I

Needs reinvestment or maintenance, but it's still a fun clean family environment, chicken tenders are great as well. 4-5 stars for me but 3 with kids and broken bumpers

Great place. Awesome staff. Overall, delightful atmosphere. Great for kids n birthday parties!!! ????????

The best!!! Family oriented, clean great service and a wonderful time!!

I went with my friends to shaker bowl in East longmeadow mass and I had fun bowling and listening to the music playing and watching the music videos on the big screen tv's and I like the lights changing color and I was very impressed with how the employees keep the bowling lanes and bowling balls clean and I would go back there again and I would recommend shaker bowl in East longmeadow mass to everyone to go to for good service and fun and good customer service, good food.

heck yeah classic bowling lots of lanes! super fun time with friends

Somebody from my family made a reservation for a birthday party at that place, and they didn't save it. When all guests arrived we had no track to play. Staff was completly ignoring the fact lost the order. The party guests had to wait like on a bus stop before one of the tracks become available. An awful expirance when you invite people and you get this.

Going bowling has made my summer grand with my grandson. The place is very clean. They clean after every bowl. They have social distancing rules in place and even the food is good when it is open..

Shaker bowl is a very well run business. Justin Godfrey is an excellent manager. The bowling center is always clean and the employees have good customer service skills.

Get service and food !! Fun place for a family activity! ??

Nice and clean modern family fun. A little pricey on Friday afternoons but worth it. But if you have a large family I would suggest going on one of those bargain days

My family and I had a good time there. The staff was great! Only problem was they ran out of chicken so we couldn't try the BBQ/Buffalo chicken pizza

Lot of fun. Went on July 3 in the evening with family. Not too crowded and didn't even have to wait for a lane. 2 thumbs up!

1st time me and my boyfriend had ever went bowling. The young man working (john) took his time to help us and show us around and what to do. Very helpful....we will be back soon!

Everyone was nice and the prices were great. The staff are very polite both in person and also on call. No rudeness or sarcasm. Just genuinely nice with everyone.

Bowling is fun ! That's why we give generous gift certificates to family for birthdays and Christmas. Shaker bowl has been a staple destination in E. Longmeadow for decades. It's truly family fun!

We had a large party and it was fun! Justin and his crew were great, the food was good. Overall a nice experience.

It was crazy fun y'all I should have been recording I for got it was fun YO can't wait for the next one I will record.

Excellent place to bowl friendly people and good food

I had my son's birthday party there and it was great! The hostesses were extremely helpful and good with the kids and parents. I would definitely recommend this place for birthday parties.

Bowling sucked the pattern has so much inconsistency oil pooled everywhere. The employees were amazing though not their fault the pattern sucks

Not a bad place to go. Kill some time not ridiculously expensive. Fun with the kids. Especially if you're looking for something to do on a late Friday or Saturday night with galactic bowling.

Imma give it three stars cause within the first 2 minutes of me walking in their was a massive brawl can't beat that free entertainment only have one hand size for bowling balls tho unfortunately for anybody with big hands like myself

Went with friends to Shaker Bowl for the first time with a Groupon - staff were super friendly, gave us plenty of time to socialize and bowl, and the atmosphere was comfortable and casual.

Always great fun, been coming here as a kid and have always had a good experience, only reason I rated 4 stars and not 5 is because I wish there were better food options

I love going there, and very good price to play bowling, and nice people.

Had a blast with family

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
