Very cool spot. Arcade games take cash and card with a decent selection of games to play. The drinks were a bit expensive for the area but worth it for the location. When I was there on the weekend, they had a dj, and the vibe was great. They also have consoles behind the bar you can play on the screens behind the bar but i think that's only for earlier in the night to keep things moving at the bar. Fun game themed cocktails. Bartenders were all very nice, and the service was good. Never had to wait long
This is a fun spot if you want to hang out and drink with friends and play some games! They had "water pong" set up and there's a bunch of arcade games. We went on a Friday night and they had a live DJ playing who was decent, and there's a dancefloor for those that want to kick it up a notch. They had some fruity drinks in small fish bowls which were delicious. It gets very loud. We had a really good night!
Fun gaming bar. Located in Deep Ellum. It wasn't incredibly busy. The game selection isn't huge, but it's worth going in and killing 30 minutes or so. The games take cards, coins, or bills.
this is the first place i ever went ?? in my life , my favorite place , i can't wait to go back again and i wanted to say i had alot of fun it was amazing nice people out dere , they show respect to me ?.
Cute concept? I had the Peach?s Revenge ??. Tasted more like juice?? it was 15 dollars, i am a little sour about that. The games were fun and the place is a vibe. I'd come back though.
Not the greatest experience. Expensive drinks for a soft pour, With Auto Gratuity. Bring cash because the machines will charge your card extra? I'd highly recommend going to a place like free play arcade in Richardson over select start
Not a ton of game selection here, but the ones they have our fun. All the machines accept credit card, at a minimum $4. Be careful, as it becomes really easy to swipe in the thick of beating a game. I spent way more than I wanted to, but that's because it was so easy. No food or drink is allowed from outside, but there was a place where we could set them aside while we were playing, and pick them back up on our way out.
This bar was pretty cool and had some good games. The games are expensive however and the music was pretty loud as well. The drinks were good and they had some pretty creative ones to go with the theme they had going on. The staff was friendly and they had this weird thing of serving shots in a balloon. I wpild go back to this place. Pretty chill and not to hi maintenance.
Really cool vibe there but the games were expensive. All the drinks had really cool names and all sounded great. I tried the Triforce and the Mega Man and they both tasted good. Also tried the Mist shot which was really cool. (Never even heard of anything like that.) It's fairly small in there so not too many games to play but the selection of games they had was pretty ok. Not sure if I'd go back but it was pretty cool to check out once.
I liked the vibe and it was clean and open aesthetics. Music was dry but the vibe potential is definitely there and they have a mad decent game selection.
New bar in the Deep Ellum scene that is reminiscent of ?The Pharmacy? before it. They have a small selection of arcade games that are more for design rather then practicality. Drink are well done, and it the staff was eager to meet new people. Select Start has a long way to go, but they are definitely off to the right ?start.?
Great atmosphere! Had a great time with the games! And the jello shots were awesome!
Nice and fun crowd, bartenders are nice and quick at pouring drinks. I love the selection of games and they even loan out controllers to play Super Nintendo, PS4 on the screens above the bar. The DJ on Sunday night was also very good as well! All in all I would come back to hangout and play some more
Bring cash for the games . Great atmosphere. Really good music and service. Would recommend to anyone looking for a drink and game experience.
I celebrated my birthday here and it was fantastic! The staff was patient and have great suggestions on what to order. My friend ordered the peanut butter special and I had the brownie creation... Both were amazing!
Fun place fun games. They have a bar with large tvs you can play games while you drink. My drink had to be a 7 out of 10. Over all everyone was nice had a great time. Will return.
Been here a couple times. Went last night - Saturday the 21st around 9pm and was very disappointed. First it was clear the security was not paying attention, because I was half way to the bar before he yelled out saying I needed to come back. He wouldn't have had to do that was he not watching the football game on his phone. Once I did make it to the bar, I waited 5 minutes. No hello. No ?I'll be with yall in a minute.? Three bartenders hung out, vaped, talked to their friends and even served two people who
Stopped in for drinks and games on. Sunday after brunch. Place was clean people were friendly. Children are allowed before a certain time.
Great bar, lots of games that will appeal to different people. Cool decorations, and reasonable prices.
This place makes a pretty good shake that looks very enticing, however my experience was less than satisfactory. The games were broken and took our money (the bartender refunded us), they put the alcohol into the wrong shake, and the balloon full of alcohol mist tasted like spray paint.
Machines were labeled $1 per game but my card was charged $5.10 for each game.
The games are tons of fun! But unfortunately the last few times I've been the service hasn't been great. Seems the owner cares more about the girls looks than a cold drink or a mixed drink tasteing good. The old location was a better atmosphere. The bar is now catering to the Crazy ,Loud party crowd. I'd rather drink and play on the PS5 than listen to a DJ, I'm sure plenty people agree.
Cool place, music on Tuesday?s is cool edm. The security are ok. The games could be better. Drinks are average price and could be stronger. Update: They changed their seating and tables around, way better flow and club vibe.
Great spot to hang out, fun arcade games, drinks & staff. Brandon & Rosie working the bar were both so friendly & helpful. Good dance music (w bass) - 'twas vibes.
Came here for spirng break 2019 with my brother! I had a blast, would definitely come back here if i can! They had skee ball, etc!
Went a few weeks ago with a friend of mine, had a great time and the bartenders were really friendly. Highly suggest coming here if you're out and about
Make sure you bring cash, because they don't have an atm and some games are $4 to play via credit card... The beer was overpriced, and it feels like there's still work to be done on the decor, but it's nice to have an arcade bar in the area.
Drinks were amazing !! I'd say a bit costly but I'm not a very experienced bar goer so it may be the norm. I had 5 drinks two of which were whiskey and coke, one kinda weak the other was perfect. 2 of them were their poison apple drink which was to die for! Great flavor sweet but didn't over well the apple flavor. Other was their Pokemon ball drink was good, loved the cup it came in. Service was great, everyone from the door back we're friendly and attentive.
I purchased 4 mixed drinks, and forgot to close my tab with Miranda and my card was charged an EXTRA $57!!! A total of over $80 for FOUR MIXED DRINKS???????????
I liked the shakes non alcoholic. They were crafted well with descent ingredients, and the straws were the right size to help eat this without problems. I don't know if I recommend the alcoholic versions because of how sugar and alcohol can upset one's stomach, but overall it's a very fun concept and I look forward to coming back. This place has a fun and nostalgic feel. I thought the service was pretty good. I ordered at the bar and drink at the bar.
Cute place. Drinks are good and creative. Nice, lighthearted atmosphere. Really unique venue.
Been there a few times when I was in Texas. It's the perfect spot for me. I love games and I love drinking. Great atmosphere, amazing dancers. Awesome bottle girls that go around with really cool shots.
I was told the games were $1 per pay. I had swiped my card for each $1 play. The next day it showed I had been charged $5 PER game. Over 65$ in charges.
Every game to play costs $2 dlls. Great Dj and the place is amazing
Game machines take credit cards but some of them are not in full working order. Could use more game selection. Drinks were as expected. There was a DJ and good music. It was fun and something different. Would love for it to expand.
Family of 5 adults here and we had loads of fun. The 4-person pac-man battle was the best. We played alien, basketball, pac-man, ski-ball, and tested our strength on the punching bag. The game and drinks were reasonably price.
This place is so much fun. I think this bar targets 80s babies ???? with their adult Capri Sun style drinks, and Sega Genesis and Nintendo games you can play right there at the bar. I didn't eat there but I would definitely return.
Cute. Vintage video games and no age restriction until 5:00.
Love the concept! Ice cream floats, video games, and booze if you're into that sort of thing. The staff is great, and the Manager is a super friendly, patient guy. Always a fun time anytime my buddies and I stop in. Psyched that they managed to weather Covid and open back up!
Definitely a vibe. It's super spacious to dance. The drinks are strong yet good and the dj is lit.
I always have a good time here. It's never too crowded and it's easy to order a drink
I had 2 bags checked in prior to 7 pm by a employee at the door from spending the night at someone's house earlier. Then two black guys (one manager and another regular employee told me I had to leave because I had 2 backpacks (already checkef by an select start employee) after I won over 30 matches in a row on psn while playing mortal kombat from 6pm-11 30pm. Up until this moment I had a phenomenal time and enjoyed myself, my review would have been more pleasant if I didn't have the 1 manager and employ
I'd love to be able to give a full review but the staff didn't ever bring our shake. The atmosphere was cool but that's all I can say. They had 5 staff members behind the bar yet still forgot our order. It wasn't slammed either. I can see why people are unhappy with their customer service. We will not be returning.
It's was cool before, but with the recent move and expansion it's AMAZING! They have many vintage games like the original Donkey Kong, X-Men, etc!
I liked the vibe and style of this place. The milkshake was good, but we got the alcoholic version, which was quite a bit more expensive, and I felt like it had too much of an alcohol taste. Next time I would pay less and just get it virgin. Service was friendly, but we felt a little forgotten about, even though it wasn't busy. All in all I'd go back, but it wasn't as magical of a place as I'd hoped.
The decor and idea is nice, but I never got to have a shake. We came in and sat at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to be served. The place was not packed, and there were 5 staff members standing around talking. They looked at us when we came in, but didn't say anything. A group of women came in, stood right by us, and the bartend immediately came to them, got their drinks, and continued to ignore us. All in all, waited 25 minutes for no service. I would love to say I liked it because the shakes look awesome
Horrible experience. The place only had two physical menus that we could not get a hold of, so we just looked online. When we decided what we wanted, I approached the bar to order and the girl told me she couldn't take my order, and I had to wait 15 to put my order in with the bartender. There's no list, no line, no organization. She kept telling people to go to the front to place their order, but then yelled at them not to crowd the front. She told us to go to the bartender, yet told other customers to wai
Great bar, good vibes and music. The games were fun, however it was small and not a variety of selection. TIP: be mindful of using your credit card paying for the games bc one swipe pays for 5 games.
Nice theme but the workers are horrible. A lot of the machines just take your money. Glasses are dirty and I watched the bartender ?clean? them all he did was run them under water no soap!!!!! No running water in the restroom to wash your hands. Bar tender was a rude when it came to playing the games at the bar he told me I wasn't allowed to switch games. Won't be coming back. I'm pretty sure he was drunk saw him taking shots with other people.
Great milkshakes, mine came with a whole brownie in top of it. Definitely worth the price. But boy howdy, should you like lines, because there is one heck of a line. It took me almost 45 minutes to get through it all. I didn't have a chance to drink vaporized alcohol out of a balloon, but that looked innovative.
This place doesn't possess the spirit of an arcade. It is a bar with a scant collection of arcade machines. There was a DJ performing, which was a bummer. A big part of the charm of an arcade is the sound of all the machines. None of the machines were audible, and the music was so loud that they were rattling. Watching people try to play Guitar Hero in the cacophony was sad. So yeah, if that's your thing, could be fun. I'm rating this place for what it is. If I were rating it as an arcade, 1 star.
Nice mix of games and drinks. Though I'll admit I'm not of age to drunk yet, but their root beer float is definitely one of my favorites. Had a nice round with the gals on the air hockey in the back, it was really cute, never seen a machine like it. Affordable for a great time.
The games were very over priced and there is not a great selection either. I liked the video game themed drink menu, but most of the drinks were overpriced for what little you got ($10 bucks for the health pack and the pouch they served it in was only 1/3rd of the way full). None of the drinks I ordered we're strong at all. They seemed understaffed as well because there was only one bartended so getting drinks took a long time when the place got packed. I've been to several different barcades in my life and
This bar is amazing. The door staff is fantastic. Jeremy the general manager kicked us out because I wouldn't let him hit the ?boxing punch? thing. So we were asked to leave. We have had our mask on the entire time and he was angry because we wouldn't let him hit our ?boxing punch? game.
Expensive drinks, limited arcade games, limited space, but decent overall... besides the prices for drinks. I got a 12oz Modelo can beer and paid $7.11 for one.. smh. No drafts or bottles. They do have mix drinks so hopefully those are cheaper. Service was decent and straight to the point, but I felt like I had to catch the Bartenders attention even through it wasn't too busy at the time (maybe due to me just drinking a beer rather than mix drinks).
Very poor (non-quality) ingredients used. $7.00 for a regular shake, $14 with alcohol in it. Please do not charge outrageous prices for less than quality products. (They used Little Debbie brownies in the shake.) On top of that, the staff was unfriendly and impatient. Don't get mad at the customer for a mistake you made. You gave out the wrong shake and had to make another one. Your fault...I kept wondering why other businesses had long lines outside of their door but this one didn't. NOW I KNOW WHY!
I went in last night.... waited 20 minutes to get acknowledged while standing on the far side of the bar, while standing there, I was talking to the red headed female with the dallas skyline tattoo asking ? where do I order?? I guess she is deaf because she didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there and I know I spoke loud enough. I waited another 10 minutes, decided to walk to the other side with the other 2 bartenders... waited 15 minutes... as I watched the guy bartender tend to 2 females right we
This is a fun, neat place that is reasonably priced for drinks (it's a full bar). Most games take cards and cash and they have a change machine. If you do card you get $4-$5 worth of games at a time. This seemed odd at first, but playing the same game several times in a row was actually fun. They have two pinball machines, two basketball shooting games (short rim), a skeeball lane, and about 15 arcade cabinets. Staff was friendly and bathrooms were clean.
Awesome Milkshakes, it appears as though they are working on making the shop look more like a old time pharmacy with a twist. Service was great as were the adult Milkshakes. The retro pharmacy feel needs some work, but otherwise it's a neat place.
Staff awesome!! Especially the Brazilian! (Guess which employee!!). Drinks are EXTREMELY sweet. If you seen Wreck it Ralph imagine visiting sugar rush, that's where you are going! And they have alcohol air. Never seen it anywhere else and it looks cool! I will try it next time!
Cool retro spot. After 10pm you must be at least 21 years old to enter. The boozy milkshakes are more than just a gimmick, they craft them to be VERY tasty. The Toaster Fire is great if you like Fireball whiskey, and the Moreo is great if you like Jameson. Would have given 5 stars but $14 is a lot for a shake, and I'm not a fan of the constant rap & hip-hop they play.
Great concept, I was super looking forward to coming here, but poor execution left me feeling dissapointed. Service was poor and place wasn't very clean. Milkshake was ok, it had half melted by the time we got it, the alcohol had separated from the shake. Just opened, so hoping the place can fix staffing issues and cut down on the time it takes to make 2 shakes. Alcohol Mist was available but couldn't see it anywhere on the menu?
Can't recommend it. We went after a concert and got charged nearly 20 bucks for 2 beers. The atmosphere is nice but the cost definitely isn't worth it. Service wasn't great either. Save your money and go elsewhere.
The whole ?alcohol-infused? thing is a lie. For $14 I could?ve just bought a bottle of alcohol. And not to mention the ?staff? is very rude. One woman took my beverage and handed me the check before I was even finished. They rush paying customers out when they start to get busy JUST because they're ?UNDERSTAFFED? . The place is a joke. I do not recommend, dont believe the hype people.
I like the atmosphere and the 50's style bar setting, but the place was too small and the DJ played the music way too loud. Not a place to go if you want a quiet place to have a drink. The drinks were very tasty though.
Love this place!!! Friendly staff and fun games. Plus I got to shoot?? the place up ???????????? Follow me on Instagram @photographyinaugust
Nice place. Good prices . Love Tuesday nights. Nice house / techno music .
Make sure to check your bank account after visiting here. I was charged almost $10 over what I signed on my credit card slip when I tabbed out. After looking into it, I've learned many others have had the same issue. The games charge $2-3 more per game than what it shows. If you really want to check the place out, I recommend paying cash for everything.
Drinks were great, service and overall experience was less than stellar. I would recommend management hire an industrial engineer consultant to help with the severe process inefficiencies that lead to the long order and drink wait times. This place would be great with a smoother process.
Super fun! Games and drinks are cool! But a lil pricey
Great Concept, HORRIBLE SERVICE. It took over 25 minutes to get waited on. They only had 2 people working on a Saturday. That is a management issue not the employees fault. The employees are stressed out. Rolling their eyes when someone is waving them down to get an order. There obviously need to be a better process system in place, or this place will not last long. Definitely a college style hang out spot, not for grown adults. Age range 21 - 26.
Great place to drink and play. Wish we had something similar in Chicago.
My daughter goes to Luna which is across the street. I'm a working mom so picking her up usually leaves a couple hours of gap while she waits. Thus she became a regular here and they were super kind about my latchkey kid loitering. Their milkshakes are a super guilty pleasure and always delicious.
Came here after a concert and it was moderately busy. I got Granny's Secret (has apple jacks cereal) my boyfriend got Toaster Fire (has cinnamon toast crunch). They both tasted the same. just vanilla ice cream with cinnamon. and they were $14 EACH! No one was playing any of the arcades, no one really stuck around or hung out.... it is a get in, get your order, take your pics for Instagram and get out kind of place. All the toppings were kinda stale... it's cereal. wish the presentation was a little better o
Looking for a dessert place midnight and happened to stumble upon this bar. Security stops us from entering asking for IDs. We both are adults and now, he says you are not allowed on pajamas. My wife wanted an ice cream and I said we'd leave immediately - he says no. Then why ask Ids? Either racist place or ridiculous dress code for such a small place.
I like the nice loud music to get the vibes going for the night. Cool spot to start the night off with and pre game and even break the ice. I enjoyed a couple games but they are a little pricey so I stucc to the bar as I was there to drink not game lol. I'm a gamer so the drinks and their names were fun, I had me a Ray Gun(COD Zombies) and a Big Pot(Fortnite). Cool staff.
Most of the games we played were broken in some way and pretty pricey. Had a change machine as you walk in even though most games didn't take change or their change machine was broken. Drink selection and pricing was fine, just disappointing that their main attraction was sub par
This place would be way more welcoming and enjoyable if Jeremy didn't work there. He's such an unwelcoming troll, treats guest poorly, even regulars who spend their money there weekly! Always got an attitude and bad vibes. If you go, avoid him at all cost.
Was told to open my bag by the guy at the door. I've been here multiple times and NEVER been asked to do this. He then said I had to throw out my water bottle. I really don't understand door guys on a power trip, but what I do understand is that im no longer coming here. I felt criminalized and humiliated
Great place to be a kid with a cold beer and video games. It's better than Dave's and busters' hands down.
I was excited when i found this place but extremely dissapointed after looking at my bank statement from the games here. We asked the bartender how much the games were bc it was not clear on the machines and the bartender said it depends but between $1- $2. Each individual ARCADE game ended up coming to $4.10 or $5.10 so where i thought i was spending $5 - $10 i ended up spending closer to $30 on about 25 min of game play. And the person i was w. Playing with was paying seperatley so double that. I'd highly
Went last night (Saturday) and it was really fun. Me and hubby had a great time. Drinks were affordable and did not disappoint. And lawwwwd the DJ had that bihh jumpin lol. Visit here !
Bar tender rude and disrespectful. Skipped over us multiple times and when we asked for a drink he treated us like we were wrong for wanting service lol after we watched people hand him weed vapes for service
In town for the weekend and wanted somthing fun to do Saturday night, but the security guard said our TN IDs were fake! So that was rad. Edit: Ended up going to Roundup saloon and dance hall and had a good time! So silver linings?
So my driver license is it coming to the mail and you know when you go to the DMV you get a paper they're not even excepting paper, and be unfair when they are sliding in there friends or accepting payments and I feel I shouldn't have to pay if I'm of age
Pretty cool place to check out whether you're in town just looking for a few drinks or you're bar hopping Deep Ellum. It's obviously arcade/video game oriented so they have arcade games and TVs with Esports and Twitch and what not streaming. They have some interesting drinks and even a mist shot in a balloon that's pretty neat. I always make sure to stop by when I'm in Dallas.
I went on a Tuesday night but it was still pretty packed. I loved the atmosphere I just wish it a bigger building honestly that's about it
Probably the worst Barcade I've been to in Dallas. Me and a group of 3 walked in. We were never greeted. We were never offered a drink menu. It was not busy and was just a lazy Sunday afternoon,. Half of the machines accept cash dollars only, the other half are quarters only. Some accept a swipe card that was never explained to us. All of them are EXTREMELY over priced. (LOL, 4 quarters for an ancient, barely working Mortal Kombat machine -- But hey, at least that one took quarters!) Both times that I
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
