This was a ton of fun. For a small fee, you can get in. Then you buy a card for credits. The credits go a long way. Games cost as low as 5 cents per play. There are a ton of fun games. We went for my birthday and had a great time!
Great place to have a party or just spend an afternoon. Lots of varieties of games including nostalgia ones like DDR and Space Invaders. Fantastic staff are so kind and accommodating. They bent over backwards to make sure we had a great time.
The girl was kind & patient when checking us in. $3 per person. The price is good. I used to always go to the Taylorsville location. Super clean! I won 300 tickets easily. Brings back old memories from my childhood. My kid said the lady added money on so they could get more prizes. How awesome is that! I'm definitely coming back with the family again.
When did they ruin this place!? Games are over priced and tickets are mediocre unless you are fortunate to get the rings. Don't get me wrong it was clean and staff is friendly, they need to change the name not one thing in there lets you play for the ol nickel. The little kid car that just bounces around is going to run you 45-50 cents....guess I'll manually shake the poor kid I would give them one star but I guess times have changed and they had to adapt. If you are looking for the old get a cup of coin
I was really impressed by how clean and maintained the place was. It was the perfect activity to escape the heat. Shout out to TJ who had great customer service and was very kind and patient with my kids!
The Nickelcade was a lot of fun. Our family had a blast. The employee running the arcade was really nice. They have lots of ticket games like skee ball which my kids love. The big draw back is that they don't have any pin ball machines. For us the $3 dollar entry fee and $5 of nickels per person lasted us around 2 hours of fun.
Went for the 1st time tonight. Was a good time. 3 bucks per person to get in. 20 bucks play card, and we played for about an hour. Won 673 tickets, got a ball, a fan, a little car and scorpion toy. All the games worked! Was something fun to do on new years eve! We had fun.
Super fun, kind staff great prizes! The mystery bags are worth it! We got a 200 mystery bag. Fun treats and prizes. Even good for littles, took my 18 month old and he had a blast.
Clean environment with an okay selection of games. $3 admission fee. A number of games showing their age. Great ticket redemption options with only a few tickets. It's like a 3/4 star.
Clean, fun and inviting. Staff was friendly, fun and engaging. Tabatha was the BEST! Thank you for making our experience over the top.
We had a blast here! My son won so many tickets and had a great time with family. The young man who helped us was a great employee. Super sweet and patient as we all checked out the prizes.
The employees are super friendly and they always seem to help you out especially with the little kids that don't have many points. They always round up and make it such a great experience, especially when we have four or six kids coming in.
Well I do have to admit since I've last been here they've definitely fixed a lot of their games and added some new games but not much. To be honest it's a very old arcade that needs a refresh bad. Most of the games are fixed half assed and look very terrible. A lot of blurry monitors or screen is going out but hey the games work lol. I took a lot of pictures of most of the arcade and most of the nonworking games please look at them if you need to see what is not working. There's a game in here that cost t
It's a bit run down and dingier than when it was new. Kids like it, but mommy needs a coffee!! Or at least a diet coke. No seating area for older folks on the game floor. Ridiculous that they charge a $3 entry fee. I would not choose Nickelcade for a child's birthday party as it has a sad feeling.
We used out get out pass for entrance which was nice. We had to buy a card with points to actually play any games. I bought 2 $10 cards ( one for eaxh kid i was with. Most games were 50 to 85 cents. One game was broken and even though it took our money we couldn't play it. We were there for about an hour. It wasn't crowded, seemed cleaner than some I've been to. The staff was friendly when redeeming our points for prizes and didn't rush my slow decision makers.
Overall, it is a very cool, family-friendly. Could use more of the ole skool games. And maybe changing the name. Not one game was a nickel!!
Not bad. A lot of games are old. Mostly clean, but the bike game was a bit dirty and I had to wash my hands due to the smell of metal.
Went here today, for the first and last time, place was clean, guy at counter friendly. However not very many games several broken with no power, and not labeled as out of order. A bunch of claw machines, which weren't working right claw wouldn't close til halfway back up to the top, and not a lot of ticket earning machines. Prices for games averaged 55 cents to 90 cents a play. After $22 had had 67 tickets on one card, and 110 on the other. Got to ticket counter prices of prizes are outrageous. 55 ticket
Had a good time here. I do like how all the games were labeled with how much they cost. It is small compared to the West Jordan location, but the staff was very nice and it was clean.
Nickelcade has lost the luster it (never) had. 30% of the games aren't working, another 30% are ticket machines, and the rest flat out suck. Those that work are no longer a nickel per play, every single game (except the freebies) was $.20 or more. They have NO PINBALL at all!! Things are in sad shape. You no longer get nickels with your entry fee of $3, so you are paying $3 for disappointment. Go elsewhere.
I remember the old nickelcade. This is a bastardized sad attempt at entertainment and not even the same atmosphere or environment. I was shocked to see not only how empty it was but was disappointed at the prices, and the prizes were trash. I'm sorry, but save your time, money, and energy . What a huge letdown. A genuine part of my childhood has shriveled, withered, and died. Wow what happened .
Always a fun time. Recently they switched to cards from nickels, and they've increased prices. This is still a great deal, just be aware that everything costs more these days, including running this arcade. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the place is clean considering how many kids are blasting through here like maniacs. My kids are twelve and thirteen and still love coming here with me, and I never turn them down. No pinball, beware. Many solid options.
Tabitha has amazing customer service skills! She made my kiddos day! THANK YOU!
Horrible place! None of the games actually give you prizes and my son is crying cause he wanted a toy from the counter and we haven't been able to get many points. You can't even buy the toys so it was all a waste of time and money
So fun ! It's a bummer that nothing is a nickel anymore but it's totally understandable. Still for $50 with a family of 7 we can have a great time!! I do with that there were some more options for cheaper games maybe some of the old ones that hardly get used could be adjusted to lower rates?
Not a lot of game variety and SUPER high prices. $20 only lasted about 10 games. Everything was .50 and higher.
Have been taking my boys here for years and used to love it. Not long ago they changed over to cards instead of coins, which is fine but they raised their prices way too much. To the point where an old game cost as much as a newer game at a new Arcade. The whole draw was to come spend a few hours for not a lot of money. Save your money and go to Nickelmania. They still have good prices and better games. I hate to say we probably won't be back.
Run down, the games are garbage. Half of the machines are broken, or held together with a 2x4 or tape. Even my kids were bored. Super lame!!! And no where near worth the $50 it cost..
Expensive and very stingy games. Weird Jesus themes in the claw Machine, And the claw machines are next to impossible to win anything, and the candy was extremely stale. Do not recommend at all.
OK so I know that nobody actually expects games at a "Nickelcade" to cost a nickel, but these games cost on average 40 - 50 cents each. These are 30+ year old machines. Half the 'games' are just those scammy claw machines. A few of the 'games' ate my money and didn't work. Not a 1-star review because they do have a pretty good air hockey table.
I took my 3 kids. Had to pay $3 per person to enter, even if not playing. I knew games were not a nickel anymore. But I was not expecting them to be $.55-$1.00 each game. I spent $15 on each kid to play. Unfortunately they only left with 8-15 tickets. If the games are going to be so much money to play, at least give them the satisfaction of winning some tickets. We went to another arcade the very next day - where there was no entrance fee, I spent $10 on each kid to play games, and they earned HUNDREDS of t
Usually I love coming here. It's one of the best nickelcades I've been to. But today changed my mind. So many of the machines were out of order some with signs stating they were, others that had no signs. One machine without a sign was taking my nickels and wouldn't let me get them back. When I asked a staff member he first ignored me then went over to the machine next to it and slammed his fist on the out of order machine stating that I shouldn't have even used it. I didn't appreciate being yelled at by a
Best arcade in town! Reasonably priced, modern and throw back games, best employees, and spot on arcade vibes.
The little guy had a blast and Abby was super friendly and helpful! If you are looking for a fun afternoon look no further!
Great time for fun with friends or family. Abby is awesome + the whole staff was super friendly
We showed up during their open hours (we have a get out pass) and they were closed. I tried calling, no answer, tried messaging, no answer. The kids were disappointed but I called the Taylorsville one and they were open (and also surprised the Sandy one was closed). About a week later, I got a very unprofessional message back "Haha sorry. My manager forgot to open. She is 8 months pregnant and my daughter so I'm going to give her a pass this time. Pregnant brain! Give us another chance!!!!!" Sorry. I won't
Just went with my family and had an awesome time! The employees were very very kind a generous. The arcade had a perfect mix of newer games you used a card to pay for and older games you could use a nickel to pay for. All around a fantastic experience for everyone! Will be going back
My daughter and I came in today for a little fun! TJ was so nice he was super friendly and always helped when we needed him, he was extremely friendly to the kids and you could tell he enjoys being here. Thank you for the great customer service.
It's a rip off. $3 just to get in and the games all average 65 cents per play.
The employees were friendly and greeted us as we walked in the door. They had all sorts of entertainment, including a little rollercoaster seat that you experience on the screen with vibrations. Some of the games in the middle section of the shop were a little slow or run down. They had nice prizes. I wish they didn't do away with the nickels as they put the funds on cards. Certain teenage girls were hogging the Wizard of Oz game, not giving a chance for others to play.
We did our son's birthday party there a few weeks ago. He got sick and we had to move the party to be a week later, but they were able to reschedule with no problem and the best part, no extra charges! It's a little annoying that the games are a lot more than they used to be and it's a lot harder to get tickets, and the party option really only gets you a table to sit down to. There are no decorations, drinks or food included, but compared to the absurd amount most places charge, it's a little better of an
Had our daughter birthday party here this month (May 2021) and we were very pleased. It was very clean and all the games were in good condition!!
My kids love the prizes and games. Clean and well staffed on the Saturday we went.
Such an amazing place for a 9 year old birthday party! We had a great time on 3/11/23 for my sons birthday in the Tron room. We had complimentary candles and such from the owners. Very clean and sanitized video games and the staff and owners were so friendly and nice! I'd recommend this for your kids birthdays if you're looking for a fun and affordable place for your kids, friends and family!
Had a birthday party there and we had so much fun! It was a great price, great time and staff was nothing but accommodating to making it that way. 10/10 would recommend!
I grew up going to this Nickelcade, and while I loved it, I realize as an adult it wasn't well maintained. I went for the first time in 20 years today and was shocked to find it better than ever. So, so clean, even the bathrooms, and all the games were working. The manager was so great and has clearly put in a lot of work to keep it thriving. Will definitely come back!
Had my daughter's 5th birthday party here, It was affordable convenient, and entertaining for all age groups lol. They don't provide anything but the room that has tables and chairs so don't plan on bringing anything that you need to keep hot or cold.
This place was amazing. We had our daughter's birthday party here. We get to bring our own food, drinks and party supplies. Keila and all other staffs were very helpful and supportive. If you want to book a party, it's great place, adults can hang around in the party hall, while kids have fun playing games..
We went here back before March of 2022 and loved it but we just went in August 2022 and they have changed so much. It's more to get in, you don't play with nickels anymore (just swipe a card) which the card isn't bad but I think it was a way to raise the prices on the games significantly and hope people don't realize because they are swiping a card vs putting nickels in. They told us the card was a good thing and that prices had come down on a few machines. I definitely know that is not the case. When we we
I USED To Love this place!! Now since they've started using the cards, prices Are NOT A Nickel and have gone up to Luke 45, 50 or 55 cents!! It's ridiculous and we probably WON'T BE BACK AGAIN!!!!
We had the best time here. The employees were so happy and helpful. The games were fun and everything seemed clean. Great value for money and just as good as other arcade options.
Been going here for about 10 years!! Used to love the place and every game was a actually a nickel like it says in the name recently they have switch to card and changed all machines to card now games can get as high as 1-2$ a game! It has turned into a joke really sucks cause this was the place me and the family would always visit I will no longer be going to this place.
This place is decent. I was just looking for a place to take my daughters for a bit. They had an ok time. It's not the biggest place, but it's fine. We were able to kill about 45 mins.
I took my kids and their friend to Nickelcade yesterday and they had so much fun! I also wanted to leave a 5 star review for Abby who works there because she went above and beyond with her customer service! She was super friendly, she showed us how the updated system works, answered all of our questions and went the extra mile at the ticket/prize counter. We will definitely be going back to this location next time. Thank you Abby!
A fun affordable place for kids to play. I was pleased with how generous the games are with tickets. My 4 and 7 year old had the best time! The workers there are also kind and generous with their time and help when games break down or trouble arises. I liked how well lit it was and the noises weren't too bad. I am prone to overstimulation and even though I felt it there - I didn't want to pull my hair out and run out screaming. It was fun. My boys can't wait to get back there. And I haven't banned that as
Kyle was so helpful to our family. He went out of his way.
Had such a wonderful experience here. The woman working was SO NICE and welcoming. Wish I got her name but she was working the opening shift on July 26th. We go to nickel mania all the time and have never had as great of an experience as we've had here.
Was there earlier today. It was clean and all the games worked. There games have gone up, but it beats the other places that are at least $2.00 a game. The female staff was very helpful and nice. Thank you.
Don't do it. It's a regular arcade with a cover charge. Took my kids there and it was such a disappointment compared to what it used to be. All the prices have been marked up with just a few new games. No more free play machines to justify the cover charge. I won't be back. Having said that, the employees there were outstanding. An excellent crew, which is why I'm giving it another star in my review. - old review - A ton of fun! I constantly found myself geeking out over the excellent selection of
This was easily the best arcade I've been to. It had a wide range of different games to play, including pac man! The prices were very reasonable and they even had lots of fun games for only 5?. The employees and manager were very friendly and generous, they made it an even better experience. I can't wait to go back!
Took my family and I here, and we had a blast. There's not a lot of games for kids under 5. A lot of the games were broken, or not giving tickets. I would have given 5 stars, but the only reason I didn't was because of the amount of broken games. Other than that, my oldest son didn't even want to leave. Definitely worth every nickel spent!
Small place, it's a family place with nice and helpful costumer service. Plenty of machines for everyone. What I personally like is, even thought it gets busy it's not a crazy crowded place, I feel safe letting my 10 years old walk around alone and independently choose the games he likes. I don't feel worried about loosing him, I sit down on a table, he brings his tickets to me and he keep having fun. I definitely recommend this place, specially if your little one is learning to get into the arcade world.
I wrote a review like probably a year ago and I give you guys a 5 star because you added way more games and i figured out the claw machines are hit or miss this place is still fun and plus you added pinball deal or no deal new claw machines I went here after my daughters birthday party on November 7th and new games my daughter was impressed and she won like 2,000 tickets I do RECOMMEND this place
Once upon a time this place use to be A LOT different. I think that they have made a lot of good changes and I think that just actually having the majority of the lights working helps a lot. I was a little disappointed that it's not Nickel?s anymore HOWEVER a majority of the old reviews on here talk about the machines taking their money which didn't happen to me once with the card system. The issue is that all of the nice upgrades that they have done should have just been done in the first place for an arca
Seems like a fun place for little kids, but as an adult with a group of three other adults, it was pretty boring. Not a lot of fun games, not a single pinball machine which is odd cause they're standard for any other arcade, and a fair handful of either broken games or missing components for the working games. The people at the counter were nice, but that was about the only good thing about this place. I'm not gonna be coming back, this poor little arcade needs a major facelift.
I have been here too many times to count, and my husband and I absolutely LOVE it! It's the perfect spot for a casual date, or just a fun night out with friends. As an adult the prizes are just silly, but still fun to win! The employees are always very nice and willing to help if a machine is out of tickets and such. We always have a blast here!
This place has been around since I was a kid. not much has change except now they use cards instead of nickels. It seems like a great place to have a birthday party because a lot of people come here to have birthday parties.
Fun but the games are expensive. Some of them are broken too
Great activity for the kids and adults alike. Recently moved to the card system for paying for games (no more bags of nickels) got rid of the physical tickets as well, so now everything goes on your card. Works well. Been a fun place to go since I was young and is a fun place to take my littles.
I took 5 boys here today and it was awesome! Abby (sorry if it's spelled wrong) the manager was AWESOME! Super kind, super friendly and just great all around. We'll definitely be heading back!
Fun place to bring the kids. Nice family fun. Win those tickets. Great prize selection.
Very good arcade but some of the prizes are a little lame for an arcade but this place is one of the best ones I've been to
This arcade is ok. Half of the games are out of order, they don't offer any hand sanitizer, but everything feels somewhat clean. The employee working there just sat on their phone while we were waiting to get our prize. It add a extra 20 minutes to our stay. The selection of games are ok but could be way better. Over all a ok arcade but if you have the time to drive to Nickel Mania I would definitely go there.
They have really cleaned the place up compared to a few years ago. Most games are in working condition now. Staff is friendly and patient with the kids. They have a few free games - millipede and ms pac-man, for the retro gamer parents like me.... Update April 2022.. they switched everything over to card readers. No more actual tickets and almost nothing takes nickles. Retro games no longer free. We were all so bummed when we got here. It is ok, but now just a junky version of boondocks. No point to take a
Kids love this place. It's not as fun now since they've digitized almost everything and increased prices on all games though. They no longer use nickels and most games cost .25 to .45cents now. However we still like to visit.
We were a little worried about coming here because of the negative reviews, but it totally blew our expectations! The games were fixed, there were some new games, we got tons of tickets, the staff was, ya know, as good as one can hope from teenagers, and we just had an awesome time. They did a good job cleaning things up a bit.
Best date place ever, all of the games were functional when I went but one, and when I alerted the staff they refunded me my nickels gave me some tickets and fixed it within a couple minutes so I was able to play it. The staff is always nice and it's never too busy. I'd say everyone should come here but then I couldn't hoard all of the machines for myself
Nicklecade games are where it's at! No tickets for the nickel games though. There is a charge for entry but check and sometimes you can find coupons to get in cheaper. My kid and I had a lot of fun here for 25 bucks.
Went at 3PM on a Tuesday. At first we're the only ones there. The attendant was very helpful. Nothing is a nickel anymore except a few games. It is a fun place.
Had a great time as nickelcade, but it seems more expensive than I remember. It's nowhere near a nickel, a game that might only last 10 seconds is 55 cents! For that it's 4 starts, but overall it was still a fun experience to go
Incase you don't know there is a $3 cover charge for everyone just to come in. It didn't bother me when the games were reasonably priced. Compared to the other nickel arcade which has cheaper admission, newer games, higher ticket payout (some games) better redemption items. This place is opened Sundays and has nickels you put in the machine and you collect actual tickets, which makes it rewarding for kids and adults. I had to give it 3 stars simply because games that use to cost 3 nickels have gone up a
They have a lot of prizes to choose from which is cool, but the machines need updating. There were a few out of order, and a few others ate our nickels. Some of the games hardly gave any tickets, and some gave more so if you're more about getting a lot of tickets then there aren't a whole lot of games to choose from. The one thing I liked is they had a few stools for people to sit on while they play, or for kids to sit on so they can reach the nickel slot.
They have raised the price and not only the Arcades are not nickles any more but also the lady behind the counter was not nice at all. She made me leave the place and told me I can not wait for my kids until I pay. I was sitting on the bench by the door just waiting for my kids to be done in a few minutes. We won't come back there.
Good experience at the arcade. The staff was amazing. They were very friendly to the kids and helpful. For the most part all the games worked and the kids loved it.
I was a bit disappointed as my expectations were a little high. Games were old and ran down. Most games were for tickets. Multiple games didn't even give the tickets when won and when I asked her about it she just shrugged your shoulders and said I don't know. And, it's not really Nickelcade as the games on average were four or more tokens. Still, my children did enjoy it.
Been to this place 3 or 4 times. Always on Wednesday, I never realized they close @ 10. The kids definitely have fun and there's plenty of games which is why I planned to keep returning. Tonight we showed up at 9:21 and I was told something about the register being closed so I was forced to find another option. Looks like Round 1 is open until 2am so that's my kids new go to arcade from now on. Good Bye Nickelcade ??
My 6 year old daughter was so excited to visit the arcade when invited to a friend's birthday party. She had a great time, and even though she didn't win enough tickets for the prize she had her eyes on, the nice young man behind the counter helped with some extra tickets to help her get her prize. He said "it's all about the experience". Great young family experience indeed !! :)
Games are more than a nickel but quoted in number of nickels. Be aware there's a cover charge just to get in unless you get a free admission coupon in the coupon calendar
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
