Ryan Family Amusements

Ryan Family Amusements

Reviews Summary

Ryan's Family Amusement offers a mix of experiences with mostly positive feedback. Many praise the fun atmosphere, clean facilities, and variety of activities like bowling (both ten-pin and candlepin), arcade games, axe throwing, and karaoke. Staff, especially Ashley, receive high marks for friendliness. However, some note high prices, inconsistent lane conditions, and occasional cleanliness issues. Food quality is hit-or-miss, with complaints about raw fries and cheap ingredients. While most enjoy the family-friendly vibe, a few feel it’s shifting toward adult-focused offerings. Overall, it’s a popular spot for entertainment, though improvements in maintenance and pricing could enhance the experience.

We took the family to Ryan?s recently and had such a great time! The unlimited card deal was an awesome value, and the whole place was clean, well-organized, and full of energy. Most of the games were working (which isn't always a given at arcades), and there were even some newer ones and upgrades from last year. The biggest win of the day? The claw machine ? the kids actually won a few stuffed animals, which was a huge morale boost and made the whole experience even more memorable. We'll definitely be back

Review of Ryan?s Amusements Axe Throwing ? 5/5 Stars I recently had the pleasure of trying out the axe throwing experience at Ryan?s Amusements in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and I can confidently say it was a fantastic time! As a first-timer, I was a bit nervous, but the friendly staff made the entire experience enjoyable right from the start. After signing a waiver, we paid $40 for an hour, which gave us our own lane to throw axes and play various games for the two of us in our lane. The selection of

Based on the pictures I thought this place would be a little better. There weren't as many games in the arcade as I though there would be but there was still a decent amount. They have some sort of bounce thing. It wasn't set up but it didn't look very fun. They have bowling, axe throwing, and food which I didn't try but they looked alright. The prizes at the arcade were cheap and the staff were nice. It wasn't too busy which was great. They have some good deals when you buy a game card. I spent $25 on a ga

Great for the kids today. My grandkids from S.C. never played candle pin, they only have ten pin. Also son in law said prize choices in the arcade are better than at home. Big arcade but no pinball machines was disappointing for me it.

This is a small arcade with newer machines that are almost all for tickets. We purchased 2 unlimited arcade games cards for 2 hrs for the kids and it was a fun 2 hrs. Most of the arcade games are for tickets, so it can get boring playing those games on an unlimited games card that can't accumulate any tickets. Overall, I wouldn't come back for the arcade

Everything is 5 star; outside of the golf simulator. I am a 2 handicap and it did not register any shot over 155 ball speed. Outside of that, it was cool. But again, I could not hit anything further than my 4 iron because of the ball speed. For reference ; I hit 5 drives in a row full speed and nothing registered. I then hit 5 3 woods and nothing changed. I hit 3 -3 woods at half the speed to prove it was just too fast and they worked pretty well, so I have to assume it is the fast either swing speed or bal

Staff great. It is so hot in there that we left before we finished our bowling string. Staff says they are sweating and they aren't doing anything. We were drenched. It sucked!

My family and friends went there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We ordered food and drinks. The same night most of us got sick (5 adults and 3 kids).

Fun family entertainment!!! Tried axe throwing and enjoyed candlestick pin. A great complement to the outdoor activities on Cape Cod! Also have birthday parties.

The bowling and arcade was a lot of fun for our large group that included four small children and their parents. Everyone had a lot of fun and i only wish we showed up a little later to give candlepin a try as there was a league happening when we arrived. Very much recommend.

We went for axe throwing and I would not recommend this place. Axes were dull with split handles. Place in Hyannis is so much better

Bragdon was a fair judge and understood his role. 5 stars, would bowl here again. My buddy bowled a candle pin 201, world record in sight #animal I sang karaoke and was a force to be reckoned with

It was quiet when I went there, but the place is clean the bartender made me some lovely drinks and wings while I enjoyed bowling and the arcade. My kid loved it

My three tweenagers really enjoyed their time and won tons of prizes all while enjoying a variety of games to play? The facilities were clean and bathroom well maintained. We attended in the middle of the day so it was not crowded.

It was okay decent little place to stop at little over price not much in the ranger video games more things to get 4 tickets to buy for stupid little trinkets that are undervalued but fun for the kids

We had my daughter?s birthday at Ryan?s amusement here in Yarmouth . As we arrived we were informed our event was mistakenly booked at the hyannis location (the guests were coming to Yarmouth). The manager Kristi from the Yarmouth location greeted us from the door with a smile, she checked for the reservation and regardless of the mistake her location would take care of us and not to worry. She acted quickly to setup for us and made us feel at ease! Great service all around. We had so much fun. Thank you

Axe throwing is very fun here, and the staff are knowledgeable and skilled at axe throwing and always willing to help you improve. The bowling alleys are clearly well maintained and the balls are in good condition, as are the pins. Karaoke night is a fun touch for all ages and the host had a beautiful voice herself making for a fun experience even when visitors weren't the ones singing! They also have bowling shoes that are in excellent condition, and aren't totally beat up like lots of other places. Yo

The service provided for a birthday party was awesome. I like they have two kinds of bowling. Lots of activities for any age.

Went down for some karaoke ?? ?? and fun with Liz last night after the D-Y??game was wicked fun the great staff and the plethora of games and activities have me trying to make it a weekly family fun trip definitely recommended checking it out way better than going all the way to the mall and dealing with traffic and crowds love this place ????

Me and my daughter stopped in for a short time as we were on time restraints. We each grabbed a quick card loaded on some money and enjoyed about a half hour of games. They also had bowling and axe throwing as additional things to do along with the traditional arcade etc. It was a good time and would have been more enjoyable with more time. We went on a Sunday and it was only moderately busy so better than we thought.

Awesome rock n bowl with black lights :) Full bar, full menu, arcade area is HUGE, Karaoke for cash prizes!

Service was lacking big time, I have been to the one in hanover, which was great, so I was expecting the same here but got the opposite

Having a special needs 7 year old can make what typical family?s do (beach, parks etc) all but impossible. We found bowling and locally we found Ryan?s. We went every day and was even greeted with enthusiasm when Liam became recognized! We super appreciated all the employees kindness!!! This place (and now all the other locations!) will always have our business!!!

We had two lanes for 6 people. The group had fun.

The absolute rudest service I've ever experienced. My mom got an eye roll at the prize counter, then we asked about where to order food and the girl at the counter responded with ? unfortunately that's through me?. Say what??? To top it off there was an R rated horror movie playing that scared the kids while we were bowling. I had to ask twice to see if they could change the channel to something more appropriate. Go ANYWHERE else

We had a group of 15 people on Saturday night, about 10 bowled. The lanes were clean but the bowling was awful. Didn't have a big variety of balls so people had to use smaller ones. The lanes didn't appear taken care of. We ordered food, came out and looked great. But every single one of us ended up with food poisoning a few hours later. The pain was unbelievable. We decided to also do some axe throwing. I have been to multiple places and this was by far the WORST. The axes were falling apart, chunks missin

How does someone say anything bad about a family place, it's not easy, but for the prices you'd hope they'd spend money on real improvements. For example.. the candle pin lanes. I've only been here a couple of times with my family (1 kid is five and it's become very frustrating for him) because both times the lanes we played on were warped. You shouldn't roll a ball dead center and watch it make a hard right turn near the end ( ally's 1 & 10). You shouldn't have to worry about were you release a ball becaus

The bowling alley was nice and the restrooms clean. Enjoyed the bowling very much. 2 stars because of the food. This was beyond disgusting. The fries were basically raw and unsalted. The burger was cheapest convenience food as well as the tenders. Tip: Bowl first and then get dinner somewhere else. Lots of nice restaurants close by.

SO DUSTY. The bathrooms, the tables, the booths, the overall odor of the arcade area. I had already brought my daughter into the place or I would have turned right back around.

The food service and bowling were quick and efficient everyone is very professional and courteous. My only complaint of unprofessionalism was the young man with glasses and blackish hair was doing donuts in the parking lot with another young man hanging from his driver's side window yelling and playing loud music. Otherwise this establishment deserves five stars from me and I will continue to go here and enjoy the laughter and fun.

Great place to bowl both ten pin and candle pins lanes available. Lots of other activities as well.

My friend and I went to go bowling and had a very good time. It's a very standard bowling place, except you pay by the hour instead of per game. We thought that might be to our disadvantage, but my friend and I were able to complete 4 games in just over an hour. My only gripe is that the staff were selective with their mask wearing. Guests were not asked to pull their masks up either.

Fun time esp with all the new additions. Axe throwing was fun. there is a projector that allows different games and is interactive which is different from other places that offer axe throwing, def better! While axe throwing we needed someone to "watch" us to make sure we were being safe, which I get for safety purposes but it was super awkward as we were the only ones in there and were being watched the whole time

okay I'm not going to lie, I used to wonder how this place made enough money to stay open... Well I know now. The prices are a little bit higher than you would expect. But the bowling is good and surprisingly the food was pretty good too everything from nachos hot dogs popcorn and small pizzas. My kids and I bowl for $13 a head so just under forty bucks and the pizza was the price of a regular pizza you buy at a I Domino's. Not complaining had a great experience there just want you to remember to bring enou

Good service. Only issue is the illogical mask policy. We were the only family bowling, yet were told we had to keep on our masks. We shared no commen space as we were by ourselves on the lanes. The bar area where others were in close proximity didn't have to where a mask. If that's not illogical, then I don't know what is.

One of my favorite stops. This bowling alley, although a little on the drier side for their ten pin lanes, is a guaranteed good time if you're looking for family fun. They have ten candlepin and ten "ten pin" lanes, as well as a full arcade and ticket redemption center. They have added a full bar with a variety of specials and drinks for those looking to have a good time. This place has always treated me well and their offers can't be beat (i.e. their monthly bowling packages). I look forward to going there

The place was clean enough but the service was terrible. Staff was short with us and they clearly didn't have enough employees present. Children (4-6 in age) running around into our lane, almost hitting us with their bowling ball, unchecked by staff or parents. Staff could have said something to them but were too busy chatting with customers they new. Won't go back unless there's no other options.

It's updated since my last visit and it's great. Arcade has there own debit cards for tickets kind of difficult and I feel it's a bit off but who knows. Bathrooms serves beer and some food..... Bowling alley drinks and food is bigger and better. I rated it 5 stars it's great atmosphere freindly staff. Def go check it out...

Overall, I'm quite pleased with this place. I'm happy that places like this still exist on the Cape, as the other Ryan Family Amusements in Hyannis closed. Bowling is fine, but I prefer the pay-per-game pricing that they used to have. Paying for a lane per hour makes the patrons feel like they need to rush to get their money's worth, which prevents consversation and laughter, which is really the point of bowling for us. Regardless, the best part about this place is the karaoke on Friday nights. The hostess

Where do I even start.... Luckily, bowling is always something that is as fun as you make it out to be. My girlfriend another and I all did have a blast while ACTUALLY bowling. We paid for the unlimited frames, which was actually modestly priced, and couldn't have had more fun, however, the rest of the experience is why I can't see myself going back. First off, the one and ONLY thing they offered as far as food was pizza. For $13 we ended up with a failed pizza hut greasy personal sized over-priced pizza

Went bowling on New Years Eve, busy but very clean. Didn't have to wait for a lane, prices are reasonable. Drinks, food, video games, bowling in a great family atmosphere!

Well kept traditional old Pro bowling lanes. Also have bottles bowling (Cape Cod bowl). Full bar, arcade for the kids, and plenty of foods. Will definately be back! I saw staff constantly cleaning and wiping down because of Covid. Thank you for that!!

Me and my friends make a point now of trying to go bowling once a week here. We order drinks and food.... The PIZZA is AMAZING! good place to go for some chill fun with friends.

Arcade food ten pin candle pin (cornhole and ax throwing yarmouth location) Love coming here on a rainy or hot day in the summer months with kids. Family owned. Price is right. Lots of fun *****side note can hold kids birthdays too

Amazing ?? !!! Lots of fun!! For the whole family. Mystic bowling was very fun also. They have drinks??, live music??, karaoke ?? , food??, and ofcourse ?? bowling. Super fun for anyone.

First time at a Ryans. 59% candlepin and 59% ten pin. Game room, fresh baked pizzas and very fun atmosphere. Used to be a bowling bum in Chicago ad a kid. WOW have prices skyrocketed. Fun but don't think you're bringing the family and spending 20 bucks. 3 people, one pizza 3 games and shoes. Total: $82!

The axe throwing here is super fun. My fiance and I will go again and stream it. $40 for one hour up to 4 people? Yes please. (That's $40 total)

Rainy day in the middle of peak season. Wait was long, but they did a great job keep ALOT of people happy. Clean establishment and nice lanes, offering both big ball and candlepin. Hope it doesn't rain again, but if it does, we would definitely go back!!!!

I haven't gone bowling in a long time but Ryan's family amusement was a great place to go. They even have a small arcade there I didn't get a chance to use it though. I will come back.

Small bowling alley packs a lot of features. Facilty that has been upgraded with modern amenities. Digital scoring. Lane rails for kids. Ten and candle pin. Limited food menu. Full bar. Mini arcade.

We love taking our daughter there!! Ashley that works the counter is amazing and because of her we now go there almost every week! We've been to other locations but love the Yarmouth one the best because of the customer service! She knows how to make you feel welcome and my daughter who is usually so shy loves her and now asks to go see Ashley!! So thank you everyone for making us feel like family!

Lanes and arcade were fun. It's Fourth of July weekend and their cashier struggled multiple times to get our lane going. Ordering food and drinks was a nightmare. They didn't know how to place the drinks in the POS let alone mix them. Very rookie draft beer pouring skills.

Ryan Family Amusements is a great place to take your family on a rainy day, in the Winter or if you're tired of the sun. They have regular bowling as well as candlestick bowling. If you haven't tried candlestick bowling, it's worth a try! So, so fun. Ryan's also have an arcade with tons of games for tickets. My four year old had fun earning tickets and picking out prizes.

Tried to play on ten pin lane. Balls didn't return. Attendant didn't care. He didn't even come back to me. I had to go to him again just to have him tell me it couldn't be fixed. Would he have let us wait all night before he came back. Very poor customer service. Tried candel pin lane. Pins would reset before your third ball. There weren't enough balls to boot. Although I thought the attendant had a lot. Again, attendant didn't care, to busy talking with friends. Only answer was no mechanic on duty. It was

Had a great time at Ryan's. Can't wait to see the new one at the mall in Hyannis. We got the last available lane. It was crowded and there was a children's b/day party going on. Good to see everyone happy and having a good time. The little one had fun at the arcade

Bare-bones candlepin alley with a small "arcade" of skee-ball, claw machines, and a bunch of cash grabs for counter tickets. We thought it would be a great rainy-day option, but our kids (who usually love bowling) found it really boring and we left in under an hour.

We went for bowling and they surprisingly had karaoke! Their lanes are nice and smooth and it's a great vibe!

this place is great but my only concern is that when you get on to the airpark the longer you stay it gets worse and more boring

This is a great place to take the family if you are looking for something to do on a rainy day, or a snow day, or any day really. They staff is friendly and they have great food. I love the counters at the front desk (they're made from pieces of the old lanes.

50 cents a minute is a little expensive IMOP small children bowl alot slower than adults. We spent 40$ and did nothing but bowl. It's fun don't get me wrong. Bowling, arcade, drinks and snacks good place just expensive.

So much to do..bounce thing was pretty cool

Prizes are good. Nice variety of arcade games. Games and equipment could be a little cleaner. Attendants could stand to be a little more attentive and maybe smile a little or at least don't look like you hate your job.

Had a great time there. Very generous owners were holding a fundraising event for several charities that evening. We have fun on regular bowling nights too.

Recently had my wife's birthday party there the people that work there made sure we had lanes to ourselves. Plenty of pizza and drinks. We even went on a Rollercoaster simulator. 25 of our friends had a fantastic time. Thank u ryans amusement yarmouth

These guys do a great job with all their facilities. Clean and organized. When we go back to the Cape we will definitely return

Nick was the best host ever! Poured the best tastiest beer! Cooked the most delicious wings and maintained the most amazing bowling alley!

I got a 980 on the punching game

My family and I went to Ryan?s Amusement to have a good night on a rainy day. The main worker was incredibly rude and took almost 30 minutes to help us and get off his phone.

We had a great time bowling and playing in the arcade it was small but it was fun. The one in the mall is huge if your looking for a bigger and better Ryan's amusement.

The bowling and arcade is fine, just what you'd expect. The women's bathroom was not handicap accessible though so be prepared if that is a necessity to you.

very fun! they have regular and skinny pin bowling, drinks, snacks, game room, hatchet throwing... will go back!

The Staff at Ryan Family Amusements in S. Yarmouth are great!! They help to make our candlepin bowling experience a positive one and keep us wanting to come back.

Fun for the whole family. Very clean and empty when we went. Kids had a blast! 15 to bowl as much as you want.

Visited the Cape Cod area this weekend and stumbled upon this place. Very fun bowling and axe throwing spot to go with the family.

Bowling was good, the pizza got so good but animals the beer was excellent and the service was the best.

It was so fun. We did bowling, arcade and the ax throwing. Best part was the ax throwing, the arcade was an absolute rip off.

Great experiance. Lots of fun. My only complaint are the restrooms. They need to redo the bathrooms. They are really gross and half the time the womens bathroom is flooded. If that was changed, my experiance would be a 10/10 every time

Ryan family, was always a great place to go for video games and bowling. They have now pulled away from the kid friendly many videogame type of establishment. Theyre now focused more on bowling and adults. And now sell acohol. Theyre videogame section is limited and small.

Had the greatest time here. The staff is beyond helpful and amazing. I could not recommend highly enough for kids, adults, and everyone in between. You will not be disappointed.

Good place for bowling with a minimal arcade for smaller children.I always visit with the kids when I'm on vacation. They have beer and food also but I've never tried it

Small place. Always seems dirty to me but I come here to I dont have to go to hyannis so it gets the job done. Just smaller and not as nice as ten pin but the kids have never complained and are always excited.

Had great fun here! Good place to pass time with friends and family. They have food, nice staff, and a reasonably clean facility.

We had a lot of fun! Axe throwing, bowling, indoor corn hole, arcade, BAR! Fun for all ages.

We had a great time bowling and axe throwing!! Would recommend.

Nice place to kill some time. Reasonable prices and clean facilities. My daughter enjoyed it

Bowling was soo much fun!! Soo want to do karaoke next Friday!! Don't know where to find the sign up form.

Great place for kids and families!!

Lots of fun for the kids. All machines were working. Plenty of friendly staff. Prices reasonable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are virtual reality games in arcades worth playing?

Yes, virtual reality (VR) games in arcades are a top attraction in 2025! Titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx deliver immersive thrills with cutting-edge headsets, motion tracking, and responsive controllers. High-resolution displays and spatial audio create heart-pounding experiences, from slashing rhythms to battling zombies. Arcades feature multiplayer VR zones and tournaments, fostering lively communities. VR booths are regularly packed, proving their captivating, next-level gameplay makes them a must-try arcade experience.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
