Awesome place. Tons of things to do and the food is decent. Play all the games and bowling you want for $7
Great place! I got to share some of my childhood games with my kid ? so much fun! And the pizza is really good too! ??
This place is so much fun! Incredible deal, all day games. We enjoy it so much, that we often make the drive from Winchester just to go. Spent my birthday here with the family and had a great time! Food is OK, service is friendly and great, 95% of the games are always working, which is definitely unique for a place like this. Highly recommend.
Ruby?s Arcade used to be a great place for a fun family outing, but unfortunately, it has taken a turn for the worse. What was once an enjoyable space now feels like a glorified Chuck E. Cheese, but with broken games and a general sense of chaos. Every arcade game we attempted to play was out of order, and the pool tables had broken pockets, causing balls to fall onto the floor?a safety hazard. The duckpin bowling, which was once a highlight, was down to just two working lanes out of four, with no signage
Delicious food, great ambiance, perfect for all ages. Lots of arcade games , reasonably priced. Could easily spend hours there..duck bowling is great! ?? Love that they have non alcoholic options !!
The drinks were good ,the young lady giving out arm bands at the front and the bartender were about the only good thing here? I took my 4 year old because it says it's. A family spot? WRONG.. frat boys pushed my daughter off the DDR game; there was only one bowling lane open and she also got pushed away from that, she tried to okay pool but a GROWN MAN who looked too be in his 40s declined that she did. This is not a family spot unless you're a jmu student and their family OR you like pushing people out of
My wife and I have a scratch off date night suggestion set, and tonight we scratched ?visit an arcade.? If not for this scratch off we would have never found this gem of a place. The staff were amazingly friendly and extremely willing to explain how the arcade works. The game selection was great and the food we ordered was tasty. I would highly recommend adding this place to your ?must do? list.
If you go, be kind to the staff. Whoever owns this place does not have the right amount of people working shifts, policies, or maintenance in place. One bartender scrambled to keep up with a consistently long line for food, alcohol, and general orders; she was good but visibly stressed. The kitchen had two people max and had to cut off food orders because they couldn't keep up. Then there's the games. The pool tables are tilted, literally half the arcade games were either frozen/glitched or not set to free
Yes, it can get a little loud and the games are older but it's a great model of pay one entry fee and play all you want without extra cost (except for a game or two). It's a very friendly environment and an enjoyable experience with quality bar food and pizza . As a bonus we went on bingo night where there was no fee for the games.
Only two small negatives here: We had a devil of a time figuring out remotely what the current operating hours were (differing info online depending where you looked), so I've posted a photo of the temporary soft-reopening hours in effect. The other is you need to be patient with the duckpin lanes. Those mechanisms are old and can be finicky... Now that said, do yourselves a favor and visit this place!! They have it all: bowling, pool tables, shuffleboards, foosball, ping pong, dartboards, video arcade game
Decent vibes for definitely being a college hangout spot. $3 cover charge to get in on Friday night. Free to play pool, or any of the other games. $20/2 orange smashes and $15/tea&pizza
Great food, great drinks, great place. Kind od like a more organic and smaller Dave and Busters. There were kids and adults alike here, and i imagine on the weekends it might get too crowded to play, but in the day we went, it was a blast. No wait to bowl or play pool.
I used to love Ruby?s Arcade, especially bingo on Tuesdays and karaoke on Thursdays. However, I'm really upset with the new rules they've implemented, which seem likely to drive away customers. First, there's now a $3 cover charge. While I wouldn't mind paying it, there was no prior warning or communication about this change, which feels unfair. My biggest issue, though, is the strict enforcement of a 21-and-over rule. I understand the need for age restrictions when it comes to drinking or being at the bar
Great atmosphere and service. Food was prepared fresh. Everything was affordable. Great place for adult fun.
Fun place to be although the games needs to be fixed most of them not functioning especially the bowling lanes gets shut down a lot
I am incredibly disappointed with my experience here. I will not be returning following this incident. My younger brother was visiting Harrisonburg for the first time and we were looking to play some arcade games. After paying the game fee (expecting to play for the duration of the night) my 15 YEAR OLD BROTHER WAS FOLLOWED AROUND AND ESCORTED OUT FOR NOT BEING 21. This is advertised to be an ?arcade??yeah right. This girl (pictured above) was extremely rude and was shouting at us before we even got inside.
The guy at the back door wearing a black shirt with orange lettering was letting people through the back door and he was laughing at us saying we ?cut? after we sat at the front of the line. Horrible workers you have there
The idea of this place is awesome, but it is poorly maintained and poorly managed. I've been here multiple times over the years and every game in the place has always had something wrong with it. I will not be returning.
Food was alright. Go with the pizza its the best of what they have to offer. Some of the games didnt work. Bingo was fun though
The staff were wonderfully welcoming, professional, nice, and the place is amazing! We were on vacation with 8 kids ranging in ages from 4-18. This place is stellar!!! Cannot say enough about how great this place is and the cost! You pay a small fee that allows you to have access to everything: bowling, pool tables, ping pong, ski ball, etc. If I was local, I'd come here with just my husband for a date night! Loved this place as did the kids! Food was good, all around, 10 stars!
We're at JMU for a couple days and tried this place for dinner. Food was great, people are friendly, not too raucous for after 8pm, but service is lacking just a tad. 4.5 stars would be more fair as we weren't disappointed at all, but didn't know how to order and waited over 10 minutes for staff, eventually walking up to the bar to order. Think of it more as a bar and less of a restaurant, although food is restaurant quality. We played cards and enjoyed a couple drinks, enjoying the night out, stayed will o
This place is lovely in a community hang out way. The beer, the food, and the atmosphere are all solidly in the fun category. Prices are reasonable (they get really great after 10:00PM) and the staff are delightful. Great place to come hang out with friends.
They were so nice the let me and my kids stay there until 3:30 because our kids did not want to leave cause it is so fun we are going again soon
Looks like a fun place but they have removed the ping pong tables
Wow, we had an awesome time. The food, service, and games were great. Love this place.
Lots of choices for games at reasonable prices. The pizza is very good and a hell of a deal on happy hour, there's also a very nice rotating tap selection of local beers and PBR.
Had called months in advance to confirm if we can have an after wedding party, and the manager confirmed that it would be okay despite their no reservation policy. The front staff were extremely rude. The staff not only disregarded it but also decided they wanted to close early. To make it worse, even when we obliged to still pay and enter with their early closing, they denied entry to half of our party because they ?were at full capacity ? there are several empty tables and ample open room. Please don't
I was extremely impressed with the Birthday Package!! We got a lot for the best price. We had amazing Pizza and garlic knots the games were a lot of fun and Emerson was a truly amazing server!!! She went above and beyond for our party. It was the best Birthday party we've had in a long time!! Thanks Ruby?s you guys are the best!!!!!
Fun place. We bowled. they have 4 duck pin lanes. We enjoyed good pizza and nachos.
The food was great! Unfortunately while we were playing games our food was prematurely removed and my family?s jacket was taken. Management could not explain why are food was removed from our table, and had no explanation for the missing jacket. The atmosphere was a lot of fun for a Tuesday night, but apparently locals don't respect other people?s property.
I went today for the first time and it was fun. The food was delicious. I had a Lil salad with chicken and the chicken. The other guest with me had a burger and he said it was delicious. We played some of the games and it was just a great time.
Even so I was probably the oldest person in there I had a blast! The staff are awesome food is good. Wish the pool tables and sticks was at least in one piece, but I understand college town stuff takes a beaten!
I went to arcade w my grandson as we were in town with his team for a baseball tournament . The price for the Children to play was a $7. Bracelet ! It was amazing and so many game machines, bowling, pool tables , etc. Food was great and atmosphere was perfect ! Best part was I could visually see him with friends the entire time!
Great place to hang out. Good bar food. Good variety on the drink menu. If there's a bartender present, they can also accommodate mixed drinks. Cheese steak sandwich was excellent. Purchased armband at the door gives you unlimited access to most games including duckpins bowling, pool, darts, video games, ping pong, skee ball. Halo is extra. Would be great to see an old school pinball machine or two. Bowling had some issues. Pinsetter kept losing pins. Finally gave up trying to get a perfect set. It's a vin
Only one duck pen lane available. We had to wait super long to even play.
The staff is great and they have really good deals and plenty of games to keep you entertained.
Fun atmosphere, great food! All around good time for all members of the family!
Awesome place to have fun! VERY reasonably priced to play and for drinks. Lots to do. I was worried there would be tons of crazy, drunk college students but they were well behaved and there were also families. (I went shortly after dinner, not late at night). Highly recommend!
Kid friendly environment. Lots of games for the kids to play and have fun.
Staff seems out of it, and make sure to bring quarters for the games! Family friendly enough and i?m sure the 21+ section is plenty of fun. I did not get to try the food as I came here after a sushi date with my lovely partner.
The workers were nice, but in the middle of us playing a game of duck ball, a group of kids shoved us out while we were waiting for a worker to come fix the stuck game. The rules state "do not throw when the red light is on" and they grabbed the balls and started throwing, even though we were mid game. People were hogging the other games and have no MANNERS. Don't bother.
Today was a special case combined with a $#!T storm. A reservation has been set weeks prior (for a wedding party) to stop by laye night with a big party. A worker named Jimmy was extremely resistant and only let the initial group of attendees in with very little explanation as to why they were restaurant to us in the first place. After refusing later guests, we decided it wasn't worth it and decided on trying for a refund. A worker named Ali decided to refund us (cash!) trusting our initial cover payments a
The pizza was delicious. (Wood fire)
Went on bingo night on a Tues. My family had the best time. We bowled, played bingo & played all arcade games for FREE!!!! I LOVE RUBY'S. Will definitely return each time we are in Harrisonburg. Food all looked great. Service was fantastic.
Second visit but I probably won't go back. My teens hated the place. Bowling area didn't work and resetting didn't do anything. Half the arcade games wouldn't work. The first visit the pizza and beer was excellent but this time it was so busy we didn't have patience to wait. We ended up leaving.
Every item is done with love and detailed. Well seasoned staff made it an experience.
We are still fairly new to VA and love exploring. We wanted to take the kiddos to do something fun and escape the heat. Ruby's Arcade is such a fun place! The food is fresh and made from scratch. There are lots of games including darts, pool, and skee ball and all for only $7! Even the little little had a blast bowling. Super fun place!
I have never seen or been anywhere like this, INCREDIBLE AND CHEAP! My Granddaughters (5) girls enjoyed their selves. Old type games for young and old. Great food. Nice bar!. Food great.
Games were fun. Fries were good. Pizza was lackluster.
The arcade is modern, clean and quite large. A lot of fun for a group of people to spread out and pick their own favorites to play. The staff seemed a bit chaotic, however. From the bartender to the front desk, the employees seemed overwhelmed. The poor bartender seemed stressed taking drink orders for canned beers that were just behind her in the fridge. All of this came to a poor ending when the entire venue shut down because there was flash flooding in the area. There wasn't a lot of communication, they
Great place for young kids at a great value. Food is pretty good too. Pool, skee ball, duck pin, foosball, and several older arcade games
Was told they were at max capacity with a 30+ minute wait but the establishment wasn't even a quarter full and there were duck pin lanes open. We decided to leave.
Bingo on Tuesdays! Great pizza, free arcade games (on Tuesday evenings).
Always a fun time to be had at Ruby's! The pizza is phenomenal and the atmosphere is really cool. There are plenty of games to play, Foosball, throw some Darts, or Miniature Bowling. There is something for everyone! It's conveniently located just beside the parking deck too, so there should be plenty of parking.
What a bargain! $5 entrance fee to unlimited games like duckpin bowling, pinball, skeeball, pool, darts, and many other arcade games. It's a bar but it's family friendly, tons of kids. Food was meh, but it sounds like they're known for the pizza which we didn't order. I would recommend.
Me and my son went there for our first time the other week and I have to say it's awesome and very cheap
Super fun place for a good price! It's often one of my go-to?s for lunch and quite a few hours of all my favorite games! They have a great mix of arcade games along with pool, foosball, duck pin bowling, etc. The food always tastes great and the staff are eager to help!
Visited here a few years back. Glad to see they are doing well. Really fun experience, prices were very reasonable for games and food. Great way to spend a couple hours with friends / kids / family
Awesome food at a great price. We ordered the veggie nachos (best I've ever had), chicken quesadila has fresh ingredients cooked til its soft, brick oven pizza, cheeseburger and fries. Everything was delicious. Kids love the place, parents love the atmosphere. Will swing by here every time we are in town. Love it!
This place is busy, but well worth the wait. They atmosphere was festive and the food was delicious. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches, tater tots and a side of coleslaw and baked beans. They were all delicious and all of the staff we interacted with were friendly and patient. I really wish I lived in the area because I would definitely go there regularly.
Ryan was our bartender tonight and he was very polite and checked up on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great time for my birthday so I really appreciated him!!
Came in with a party of 10 on a Friday evening. Food was brought quickly, we got several wood-fired pizzas, 2 pulled pork sandwiches, as well as a Rueben. We all enjoyed our meal. Pleased with service, and part of our group bowled and had a great time.
I rarely leave any reviews, but I think it's fair to leave one for the rather ridiculous business decisions we saw at Ruby?s tonight. We arrived at Ruby?s shortly after 5pm hoping to have a pleasant dinner/evening with our kids. When we arrived, all the doors were locked and although we could see workers inside they were generally ignoring the fact that people were there trying to get in. Finally, a worker answered the door, only to direct us to a crudely handwritten sign that indicated they were ?at cap
Great place to do a date or double date. Great games and food. Love it and good beer selection!
I usually do not share reviews but this was the singular worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not ever have I witnessed a bartender curse at a customer for ordering a drink when it is busy. He was obviously very inexperienced, but that is no excuse. If you have friends visiting and are wanting to introduce them to the area stay far away from this establishment.
they denied me from coming in even though I am 21 and shows my ID and my debit card and said I would show other proof. They refused to let me in to their bar and their arcade. They were rude and they said no we won't serve you and I don't know if it's because my id is from PA and I'm not from Virginia but I'm furious. People have gotten in there with fakes TODAY and my real id gets denied.
The pizza is great. I know it's hard to keep up the duckpin bowling, but I was disappointed. Thanks for at least giving me a chance to throw a few.
Always a fun place to go. There are enough games (ping pong, air hockey, pool, shuffle board and much more) that everyone who wants to play can have a turn. The games are family friendly so no need to get a babysitter, just bring the kids. My beer drinking friends really like the variety on tap. They say it has good flavors. Nothing special about the food. Mostly pizza and deep fried options. However, the ceasar salad with chicken on top was very good.
Ruby's is fun and entertaining for everyone. We enjoy the wood fire oven pizza. Bingo on Tuesdays is awesome.
Fun atmosphere with tasty entrees and plenty of games including duck pin bowling. Tuesday nights have free Bingo is Life!
Seems like a neat place. The idea of playing arcade games and bowling while drinking and eating is definitely a good one. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and laid back. There were some serious disappointments though. When they say bowling, they mean a 1950's duckpin lane set. There are about a half dozen arcade machines, and nothing too special. Definitely a great idea, but they hyped up their games and we were thinking more like a Dave and Buster's, but ended up with a college dive bar with some so-so
Nice barcade located downtown with a mini bowling alley along with other games. The drinks are reasonably priced and bartenders got us our orders quickly. Overall, the building is kept clean with plenty of areas to hang out. My one gripe with this place is that they charge for a number of the games such as pool or shuffle board.
The duck pin alleys are truly vintage (from the 50's!) and are well maintained, and a lot of fun to play. The other games are great, too. They have some of the best pizza in town! Their smoked meats are excellent. They also have one of the best beer selections in town, both on draft and in bottles. Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend!
So this is a very unique place. First of all, you present two forms of ID and $3.00 per person cover. After that, you have access to the bar and game room area. Games are included in the cover (mini bowling, darts, ping pong, skee ball, pool, etc.) which is nice. A small selection of craft beer and some mixed drinks/shooters. Their wood-oven pizza was delicious and only $10.00 for a 12?. Would recommend for a chill evening amongst a young crowd.
This is a great place to hang out with friends for the evening, host a birthday party, bring a date, or spend some family time. The food is great, and their games are diverse and well-kept - billiards, duck pin, table tennis, darts, and more. They've also recently added several free-to-play old-school video games. The atmosphere here ranges from cozy and quiet to active and lively depending on the day and time, but it's always inviting and fun! I've enjoyed late afternoon one-on-one game/snack time with my
Great fun! Try the BBQ and wood fired pizza!
Great spot for the kids. Food is solid but standard pizza place fare. They were a bit understaffed but the staff themselves were great and accomodating.
Food was great and service was good but not really my kind of place. Loud atmosphere and lots of people. Nothing against Ruby's, just not my cup of tea.
Great pizza, awesome pulled barbecue with a great smoky taste with nice barbecue sauce to match. Tons of games for you to play, something for the entire family, from Duckpin bowling, darts, foosball, ping pong to pool tables this place has it all and can even handle large events. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Would certainly recommend!
This is a wonderful place to have good food & a great time!! I love it here! I initially went to take my grandsons to have fun playing videos while I sat on side lines preparing for a meeting; however, turns out that MawMaw had just as much FUN! In fact, it took me back to the days of my youth playing q-bert, pac-man, pinball. I had no clue they had these, my favorites! Its a regular on our places to go! Thanks Ruby's!
Every time I've been in there the staff have been helpful and food is actually quite good, especially the pizza crust. It's airy and light with lots of flavor. Most pizza crusts in my experience have been dense and overpower the rest of pizza. Strange, I know but you'll know what I mean if you order a pizza. One star down because I think the music is too loud most of the time. If the music was quieter, people could visit more easily and I would most certainly give the 5th star back. It most certainly deser
Love the location and the beer selection is top notch especially since they had Dark Hollow, my favorite beer. Would be five star if the arcade game selection was better or if the games they have didn't require a little knowledge about operating emulators. Aside from that I will definitely be back to this location.
Been once and plan on going back. Pizza and BBQ was excellent. Games were a blast, especially the antique duck pin bowling. Fun for kids and adults. They do have a bar, so parents be aware.
We visited Ruby's Arcade for the first time on a Thursday night and we couldn't get enough! The mini bowling was a lot of fun, loved the arcade games we could play while others in our group could play pool or air hockey. Awesome spot to spend your time. My husband said drink prices were great, too!
It took over 45 minutes to get food, some of it cold. A cheese pizza took over an hour, & didn't arrive with the rest of the food. The salad was incorrect; didn't have all the "ingredients". Waitress didn't apologize once for the kitchen being slow. We will for sure not return here to eat, downtown Harrisonburg has many better choices with better prices. The only enjoyable part was the BBQ, which was very good.
This place was strangely awesome! It had a very nastalgic feel to it with its older design, open areas, and fun games and fun activities. They have managed to pull off creating a fun hangout place for literally all ages. There were small kids, college students, and even older folks 70+ all having a great time. Would recommend this place for any group of friends.
Very cool joint. Grub and games. Veggie burger, Spinach salad for mom and dad. Mac and cheese and a burger for kids. Yum all around. Billiards and bowling on lower level. Well lit dining area with patio. Service was excellent. Board games near the door for fun at the table. Cool place.
Its kind a dive but in a good way, gf pizza was surprisingly excellent. Kids had a great time with duck pin and free arcade. Will definitely come back again!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
