Royal Pin Expo

Royal Pin Expo

Reviews Summary

Most reviews praise the facility's cleanliness, modern atmosphere, and fun activities like laser tag and cosmic bowling, with many highlighting friendly staff and good food. However, frequent complaints focus on high pricing ($45-$55/hour), mandatory fees, and inconsistent service, with some noting unfulfilled expectations (e.g., cosmic bowling not being "cosmic"). While families and groups often enjoy their visits, the cost and occasional poor customer service deter repeat visits for some. Mixed opinions on reservation systems and arcade policies.

Not to shabby. Up to date and roomy just was shocked when I walked in and it was $60/hour on a Sunday afternoon. All I could think of was how families sacrifice for this hour of fun and memories. I should have done my homework on price.

We went there for my birthday and had a wonderful time. It wasn't horribly crowded, which I appreciate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a very enjoyable time.

this is a neat bowling center. there are two sides both have 40 lanes. there is a hallway connect the two with a laser tag area and snack bar. in the hall is a window where you can watch the machines work. Has a nice game room small but every space is used up with a machine for the kids.

Safety Concerns!!! At 55hr, Our lane was encroached our whole time by the group of 20 next to us, my kids being bumped into by full grown men. 3-4 at the ball return at a time crowding the actual lane. Staff sucks, and antagonistic when I brought my concern. Going to the party and said, ? can u just stay in your own lane, I thinks she's over reacting, but try to stay in you own lane.? At that point, this staff member witness w his own eyes the party bump into my small 10 yr old daughter as she bowled her tu

$50/hour is absolutely ridiculous. Then a mandatory $10 gratuity for food that we had to order on a kiosk and pick up ourselves from a very rude employee is unacceptable. Facility was clean and everything was in good order, but the extremely high prices mean we'll stick to our usual place and not be back.

Hadn't been here for several years but needed to kill 2 hours with some kids so....we went bowling! Had a good time. The price? Yes, it's a lot more than it used to be but, then again, what isn't. We'll go back again someday.

A bit outdated and musty smelling but otherwise standard bowling alley. I'm also not a bowling fan so my rating reflects that. The food was ok, not bad not amazing, serviceable. Overall serviceable place to have a getogether.

Me and my family went here at night, it was packed!. It was 55 for 1 hr for 5 people and to me that's a reasonable good price!. I liked this place and we had a lot of fun, there's also food and a bar where if you get hungry you can just buy anything you'd like!.

I'm only giving this bowling place a to because it is in my opinion in need of a at least light remodel.. price pretty reasonable prices.. they need more food and drink options.

It's been awhile since I have been here, but now on Saturdays and after noon on Sundays it's 55 for an hour of bowling. Same lanes, same shoes, same rude employees, but it costs almost double what it would a year ago. The food has shot up in price for the same quality. Nothing has changed, but everything is double the price.

Paul & Mary on the A side counter are the best. Also appreciate Lynn @ A side bar/server. 40 lanes of hungry/thirsty men is a lot to keep up with. ??

Establishment does not value Merit or work ethic. The Supervisor Bo is Arrogant and never walks around with a smile on her face. The kitchen manager Terry is lazy as well. Food is overpriced & most of staff is incompetent. Bring in your own food from other places & they won't say a word.

Came with my family to celebrate my cousins bday for cosmic bowling but it wasn't very cosmic. I thought it was supposed to be bowling in the dark. But IDK...also why aren't more people bowling...it's hella fun!!!!

My family and I came for Lazer tag. It was a pleasant visit from the front desk all the way to the young lady who prepped us for the Lazer tag. It was fun and we totally enjoyed the Lazer tag experience. I will definitely return for more fun. Must try this place out very fun time. We will return.

First of all, staff was friendly. Good start when coming here for the first time. The food was delicious. Especially the thick fries and plump boneless chicken wings. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was a nice size and not too spicy so no runny nose :) While waiting for your turn to bowl, the score screen features a headline with fun facts and puns about bowling. There's also lazer tag and an arcade. Overall experience was enjoyable and fun. Highly recommended coming here when going for a chill night with family a

Had a wonderful experience hosting a birthday party for my 7 year old daughter. Party included shoes, some basic decor (even though we still brought in our own). We were able to bring in cupcakes for the party. We had our own party host (hannah) that was patient and catered to our every need! Pizza was delicious. Facility was super clean. And my girl had the BEST time. ????????????

Went to celebrate a birthday after paying for 2 hours for my group of 6 we played for over an hour and a half only 15 minutes left of our game and Nora came up to our two tables extremely rude letting us know we could only use 1 table that has only 4 seats. After I stated another family was also sitting on the other half our table she unprofessionally told me to tell the family to move after telling her that it is her job she is able to tell us to move she can also tell them to move she told them to move My

I haven't been to Royal Pin Expo in years! My family and I decided to go bowling here the night before Thanksgiving. There are a lot of lanes to choose from, plenty of bowling balls, and the space is clean! The Royal Pin Expo team was courteous and professional. A few of my cousins got drinks and adult beverages - it's nice that they have those and food available for purchase! I hope this is a tradition we will continue with Royal Pin Expo!!

How does the sign on the pro shop door says Monday through Saturday they're open but you go in on Saturday and they're closed. Maybe they need to go by their schedule that they have from the door

Will never be coming back to this overpriced and run down place. The people here are super rude and not helpful. Spent $250 for a birthday party and my special needs daughter wanted a specific stuffed animal from the arcade prizes. It was a little chase stuffed animal they wanted 1200 points for but earning points took forever. We offered to pay cash for the stuffy because the kid was really upset, it was her birthday, and it was the only thing she was really showing interest in and wanted. The old lady wor

This place was awesome. We called head with 30 wrestlers. And they took great care of us. GIVE THEM SOME BIZZZZZZ

The shoes are pretty gross. They are strict on time frames due to being busy. So don't expect to finish your game if you can't in the allotted time. Balls are clean and easy to find. Expensive but a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Scheduled my daughter?s 6th birthday party here, and NONE of our quest came. Our party host Braxton was so nice he made sure my little girl still had a GREAT birthday. The staff even played laser tag with us and Braxton signed her pen. He was so nice and kind! We ended up having a great time and it really was all because of the amazing staff here! My daughter said it was the best party she ever had!! Thank you guys so much!!

Been here twice. Had to pay hourly to bowl? 55.00 for one hour?. They shut us down before we finished our last game??? My own personal bowl was stuck in the lane. They act as though it is a headache to help their customers. We will never go back to this place period. ??

Pretty horrible bowling alley and staff! We paid hundreds of dollars for our 9 year olds Birthday Party and all she wanted was a small plush toy from the arcade. We offered to pay for the toy and tried all we could to win it for her! Staff refused to give way on the toy until we had racked up 1,000 points! Unfortunately rules are rules, Yes. But you would think after spending hours here and spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars they would be willing to compromise. But no! I guess their 6 inch Paw Patrol

Terrible experience. The people are absolutely rude. We had people decide they were taking our seats and sitting at our table who weren't with us. The bar tender over poured drinks and didn't know how to make them. The kiosk didn't want to work. It was absolutely a terrible night. I wouldn't recommend coming and we'll never be back.

Now that I have frequently come here I can say that most who work here are pleasant and cheerful. There are those who act as overseers who abuse the authority granted to them by the one who sits and collects his silver.

It has 80 lanes!! It is lively during the weekends... And it also has little window through which you can see how the lanes work backstage.. It's better if you do reservations online beforehand on Fridays and Saturdays...It also has two pool tables.

Went to a kids birthday and the girl in charge of the group was AWESOME! The birthday party was run well.

Expensive, the shoes were not in good condition. The lane did not work properly and caused us to lose time on our lane and bowling balls got stuck twice. A young female manager or employee behind the counter was reprimanding another young employee for how another employee completed a job because they trained her and made her look bad. If you want to have that conversation fine, but it's unprofessional to do it in front of customers.

This place was wonderful, wonderful staff, very friendly and nice would definitely go back.

It would be great if the website had a calendar for hours to know when leagues were bowling. I've tried to walk in many times when it shouldn't be busy and it is closed for leagues for half the day. Nice place but prices are getting high

Horrible place and even worse staff 60 dollars an hour to bowl ya right!!!!

Came here to bowl a few weeks ago, had a great time. (Even if I'm not great at bowling.) The little bar area was nice, and good beer choices. The food ordering was a little odd at first, but the food was great. Pickle fries were tasty. It was nice they had my shoe size (15). The bathroom was a little unnerving but the atmosphere, the bar, the bowling, and the food make up for it. Bring a pee buddy, for extra comfort. Still good time though.

Loved the atmosphere and the food and alcoholic drinks! Great place to go with friends and even family!! I'll definitely come back to this place again!

This place has been here since I was a kid back the 80s. It always seems to be clean and they keep it updated. I'm not a big bowling fan, but it's certainly a very nice place compared to many bowling always

Bo the manager is the worse she was so rude .game started missing up was not anything we did .she would not let us get our 20 mins back after we spent 55 a hour.

$55 an hour per person for this sorry bowling alley? What a joke. Now I see why the parking lot is empty when I drive past it everyday.

Good fun, easy to get to. Clean and modern. Prices are a bit steep for food and drinks.

Most times the experience is great. Being that y?all have two bars that don't serve the same drinks. It'd be nice if they could communicate that someone from the other side is coming over. I was not able to make a purchase and give yall my money. 1. Only one side serves what I wanted 2. I made it with 3 minutes to spare and they had shut down early. -_- very annoyed. And you lost money.

Everything was really clean; employees were friendly and helpful; will definitely return!

Nice place to have some fun bowling. If your bowling in a league, I wouldn't join a league that is scheduled for their B side, this would be the lanes on the west side of this biulding. The bowling area and approaches are very stick, like your bowling on syrup, and the floors are very dirty, not good.

One of the best bowling places in Indy, great vibes, good music, very good food, if expensive. The shoes are new, the bar is stocked, everything's clean. I prefer the cosmic side of the building compared with the regular.

Went here last night with the whole family. We all had a great time, every time we go here we have a great time so far. I have no complaints staff is helpful food is good. So overall is a good place bathrooms are clean as well.

It was nice! We went for my sons bday, had a special i found on their site. 2hrs of bowling and then also purchased two rounds of laser tag. I would suggest taking breaks between laser tags as kids will be running and get worn out fast lol

Nice atmosphere and plenty of family friendly things for everyone!

For bowling alleys it's OK it's kept clean and maintain to will they also have a nice food court area that sort of helps give it a lower score they have different types of food to eat and food that can be prepared however we went on a weekend they seemed like they were short staff or not enough staff to be able to get the lines through and the lines were going all the way down the hallway into the bowling alley almost So they could use some help in the kitchen on team communication to be able to flow the li

There is a cafe there with lots of options. The pizza at the cafe was really good.

Absolutely done with this place! Don't bother calling because they are just going to lie about the times that open bowl is. I called the day before I wanted to bowl and they told me open bowl was all day. I arrived and open bowl wasn't until 10PM. I planned on trying again a few days later and called that morning. They told me open bowl started at 4PM. I called again later the same afternoon and magically it is 830-9PM.

Lane conditions are incredibly inconsistent, and the approaches are simply not taken care of at all. If you want to hurt yourself bowling, this is a great place to go. Also, their pro shop is terrible and will drill your equipment to how they want, not what you ask.

My host was extremely helpful and my family and I had a ball

Been bowling @ expo for YEARS. Walked in today @ 12:00 on the dot. The teenager said sorry it just switched to hourly. $50 per hour instead of by the game. Really...its 12:00 on the DOT. Taking my money to Franklin. JOKE! IF I could leave ZERO stars I would.

Very clean and people were decently spaced apart. The staff made sure to remind patrons about safety and social distancing. It was nice to get out and know that precautions were being taken to make sure everyone had a good time and remained safe!

Don't have an issue using open lane rewards and offers at western or woodland. But EVERY SINGLE TIME I go here the guy at the front starts a confrontation with me. Everything else is fine but not as good as the other royal pin locations.

Our daughter was really thrilled with the Laser Storm birthday party we had at Expo, it was very clean (not always a given on a busy Saturday!) and everyone we encountered was very helpful and adaptive to our needs.

Good alley. Well maintained

Clean not busy went after 9pm kids had a blast! Ordered a pretzel with cheese and got this with 2 cups of cheese, but was advised they were still waiting for reg ones to come in but was good. Staff was friendly.

I had never been to Royal Pin Expo. I had an awesome time while I was there. The food is pretty good and service is excellent. If you order something and it is going to take a while to get to you, they will bring your food out to you while you are bowling. Royal Pin Expo is clean and neat. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to go bowling and have an awesome time like I did.

I enjoy bowling league here. The staff are friendly, the food is good, the atmosphere always has people wanting to help better yourself and your bowling. I do recommend if you have your own ball to go when the lanes are freshly oiled if not a few hours after.

This is a very nice bowling alley. However, the pricing is just untenable on the weekends. The food and drinks, service, and lanes are good. But if you go on a Friday or Saturday expect to pay $45 PER HOUR to use a lane. Otherwise on the weekend it costs $30/hour. There are no other options for single-games. Their facility is good, but it sure isn't that good. I recommend going elsewhere since this place is just NOT worth that high of a price. Go to Pinheads if you want premium weekend bowling. If

We tried one side and were told there were no open lanes. I counted at least seven open lanes, it was barely being used. (The monitors didn't indicate they had been reserved or anything, either.) We were sent to the other side that was considerably more crowded but managed to find two lanes next to each other. $45 for an hour?s worth of bowling seems high to me, but I haven't been in years, so I don't want to speak out of turn. Staff was OK, not what I'd call friendly, but not rude, either. We didn't try

This place is great. The price is right. The lights are great. There wax is on point, and the food is the best. I would highly recommend this place for everyone! Recently returned to roll some balls and knock some pins. You purchase by the game or by the hour per lane. Keep an eye out for those coupons in your weekly value pack in the mail for great deals!

This place was clean and fun! Except for a Saturday night I think they should?ve been playing music and maybe dim the lights

We truly do like this place always keeping up to keep it modern. The reason for only 2 stars is due to they changed the way they reserve lanes now. You have to do it online which was a struggle for the person who was trying to reserve. Plus they wanted to charge us a $100 to reserve a lane. That's just insane because that's more than it would have actually cost us. I may just take my business elsewhere.

Good prices. Good concessions. Helpful staff. But equipment is worse for wear and could definitely use a refresh. If you have your own shoes and balls, it's probably a 5 star experience.

It cost me 50.00 one hour of blowing. I will never come back. I'm retired that was my food for the week. Had taken my 7 year old grandson I couldn't just walk out. You will never get another dollar from me.

Don't like the timer auto shutting off your game mid set but I get it. Reservations are reservations. The laser tag was very fun. We had a party of 22 people on 5 bowling lanes for two hours (2 and a half games total) and had an hour of laser tag. With breaks in between, we got in 3 games of laser tag. Very expensive for the whole thing but for 3 hours of entertainment for 22 people ages 5-65, it was worth it.

Took my 7 and 9 year old today for Kids Bowl Free. We went around 2PM, and there were maybe 7 or 8 other lanes in use, not crowded in the least. Shoe rental was $2.75 per child. The staff was great, anticipated my boys needs and were friendly with them. We enjoyed the arcade as well, the games and tickets are all on a card system, you can load cash onto a game card the kids use to play games, and tickets add up on the card. We really enjoyed it, kids had a great time. I have been coming to this location sin

As usual, a clean, well maintained facility with very helpful and attentive staff. Enjoy every visit here.

Nice and clean for a bowling alley. Looked redone inside. We loved it!

Hosted Jr gold. Massive facility. Great staff. Bowlling aplenty. Pro shop and Cafe. Easy to stay all day. Bathrooms clean, and handicap accessible. Lots of fun for the family

We went to a birthday party and it was well organized. The kids had a great time. They had it set up and waiting when we arrived. The pizza and breadsticks were really good.

Venue is attractive and clean. Staff however is unfriendly and ill informed on processes. Arcade leaves a lot to be desired with out of order games. Experienced a lot of hassle using gift cards in the Laser Tag area. But had a nice experience in their dining room.

Overall great experience and good value on the hourly bowling. My only disappointment was that the lanes were pretty empty(2 pm on a Wednesday) and yet they put us on a lane right next to another family. We asked to be moved, just to have more space and were told they could not move us. It resulted with us being on top of another family which seemed unnecessary and inconsiderate.

We all had a great time!! There were about 9 of us and because I'm in a wheelchair we got to bowl in the handicapped lanes. Made it much easier. Will definitely be back!!

First time attending a school event, I understand it can be hectic. However! Waited two hours for a line to open, get assigned to a lane finally and then they assign it to someone else right afterwards then says "I'm sorry it's hectic you will just have wait"....... a think that it just needs to be a little more organized than what it was.

Really didn't enjoy the bowling as much as I use to. The people weren't very friendly except in the cafe! They were awesome! We had to get help and the guy seemed mad at us and we felt like we should leave but didn't. He even walked across the lane which you aren't suppose to do because of oil patterns I thought. Just disappointed. We will take Western Bowl any day!

Attempted to call ahead to reserve times, but you are evidently only allowed to reserve on even hours. They made clear that leagues started around 4, so we tried to get there sometime before 1.. in retrospect, perhaps we could have just reserved for noon.. but that didn't really fit our schedule very well.. they had 75% or better of their lanes open and yet insisted that if we started they would need the lanes back at 2.. the possibility of reservations seems nice in theory, but if it leaves that many lanes

I always have a good experience bowling here. I have bowled in a league at the alley and the service was always excellent. They are very friendly and helpful. The alley features a full bar, pool tables, laser tag (which I have not tried,) plenty of seating and spacious enough even with a full house. The waitresses do a good job checking on a large alley of people taking orders for drinks, food, and alcohol. Only complaint I would have about the place would be the food which can be hit or miss depending on w

Clean cheap fun. Reserve a lane online before you plan to go. Every other lane is closed to distance people and it fills up quick. Snack bar has great food, but you'll definitely have to wait on it.

Very clean and nice staff. Food was good but the drinks were better. We reserved our lane the night before and were able to check in immediately.

Nicely built, big bowling alley. However, the $45 hourly prices are completely absurd. I can bowl 6 games an hour while consistently bowling... that would only cost me $18-$25 at most bowling alleys. There is no pay-by-game option on the weekends, so you are forced to buy the lane rental.

Poor customer service in the mornings, and horrible lane management. If I buy games with no time limit, you can't put a time limit later on just cause "you thought we'd bowl quicker". Management must be a joke.

Cosmic bowling was so much fun! Employees were very friendly and helpful! Their food was delicious, we had pizza and nachos supreme. We also had their chicken wings which had a dry rub on them and they were so tender! Will be back, it was a fun family night!

We attended a children's birthday party. The location was clean and the children had a good time.

Disappointed! After calling twice before arrival and waiting 30 minutes to get a lane for cosmic bowling, there was no cosmic to the bowling. The lights never went down, no glow in the dark effects, nothing. Don't advertise something you're not actually going to do. I was looking forward to it. Kudos on the clean facility and service staff.

First time visitors....grand-daughters 2nd birthday. Cafe excellent, bar fine but wine just a little bit of aftertaste. All in all, it was a nice environment. Staff pleasant and cooperative. ??

Went here on a Friday night with family and friends for Cosmic Bowling. The music and atmosphere was fun. I was disappointed with the customer service though. Cosmic Bowling started at 10p...tried to go buy a coke at 10:45 (had not even been there an hour) and not only did the bar turn me away but so did the restaurant. What?! Said their drawer had already been taken. Why?! The second let down...The kids ran through their two games quicker than the adults so I went up to the main desk at 11:15 to buy

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
