Reviewing mainly for the arcade: it's a fun spot with a good deal - 40 tokens for $10, with most games costing around 4 tokens each. The selection is decent, though not the most extensive, and it can get pretty crowded on weekend evenings. Still, a lively place for casual gaming fun!
I stopped by this arcade to kill some time while waiting for a friend, and ended up having a great time. I've recently gotten into pinball, so I was really excited to find some machines here?and they were a lot of fun! One thing to note is that the coins cost about twice as much as at other places, so it felt a bit pricey. The space isn't huge, but it has a cozy, welcoming vibe. There are also game tables where you can play while enjoying food with friends, which is a nice touch. Definitely a fun little sp
Roxy's Arcade is a small barcade? located in Cambridge Massachusetts. I've been there a few times and really enjoy the vibe. They have two rotating beers on tap and a full bar that makes mixed drinks and cocktails. They also have a good selection of canned beers and game themed drinks and shots. The adjacent restaurant has some pretty delicious food as well as sharable snacks like fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, and pretzels. The arcade game selection is just okay. They also have several pinba
Very good, quick food with a super friendly and accommodating staff. Love the Nintendo decor and top notch tunes playing!
Counter service. Good price points. Lots of options. The food was delivered to our table quickly and it was delicious. Poutine Fries w/ Cheese Curds and Mushroom Burger. Way up there!
Our first time at Roxy?s and boy did we love it. Parking was easy, right out front. The Justin burger was heavenly and kudos were made for the double-friend chicken sandwich. The arcade brought back memories from decades ago, standing for hours in front of a pinball machine! Hi5! all the way around.
One of the best places in the area for a fun night out with friends. It's got a selection of arcade games from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, which were definitely a blast from the past for me. The food is also good, I particularly liked the fried chicken sandwich. The drinks were a bit too pricey, but what can you do. I also think they could replace some pinball machines with air hockey or something multiplayer, as there are quite a few pinball machines.
Drinks were kinda expensive. Also wish they had a few more games. Food was decent and came out quick. Nice selection of beer, my girlfriend enjoyed her cocktail. Token systems for arcade bars make me sad but I get why they do it there. The place fills up fast so they need people to rotate.
Went here for a game night. The place is first of all hidden behind the restaurant. That was a pleasant surprise for me as I did not expect that. But the arcade has amazing games, and a brilliant atmosphere with tons of people playing, drinking, eating and having a good time. Had a really good time. They also have really good grilled cheese sandwiches. Would highly recommend a visit if in the area and want to revisit childhood days.
Had gluten- and dairy-free options; they were very knowledgeable about allergies. Trivia night was in full swing tonight which was fun, great drag performers. Cool arcade games, expect the arcade to be loud.
Great barcade. I really enjoyed the speakeasy vibe of walking thru the freezer into the arcade. The staff were extremely friendly. The vibe inside the arcade was amazing. It was extremely laid back and welcoming. They have a great selection of games, especially pinball machines! The ability to play Xbox against a friend at the bar was super cool! I will absolutely come back here! The drinks were fantastic too! On my way out I talked to the door guy about his play thru of fallout 2 on his steam deck, if thos
Do not go here for lunch. They forgot to call my order (I was sitting directly in front of the pick up area) and blamed me! Waited 20min until the guy who ordered way after me got his order when I came up and asked what was going on and for a refund. They gave me 2 soggy sandwiches for $25 with a tip and acted like I was rude for asking for a refund when they messed up. Been here many times in the past to the bar, but never realized how terrible the kitchen is. Not worth the $15 drinks either.
My friend and I had a blast here! We felt safe and enjoyed all the games. It did get super hot in there so I do wish the AC was on but overall we'd return!
Unique and fun spot in Cambridge. The cocktails are truly delicious and made with care. For $10 you get 40 tokens. Most games cost 4 tokens to play but some like skeeball only cost 2 tokens. The grilled cheese is also very good. I highly recommend this spot but would advise to go on a weeknight when there aren't quite as long of lines.
We went for the arcade which was a lot of fun. They have quite a few nostalgic arcade games and great drinks (jello shots in syringes, anyone?!). There are some tables scattered around the outside edge of the room and some chairs there or stools at the bar, but the main attraction is clearly the game floor with any manner of games from the pinball machines to Mortal Kombat and TMNT and even (my favorite) Mario Kart, among plenty of others. Anyone going should probably expect to be mostly standing since, wh
It's a fun experience, bring your ID to get in and expect to be standing a lot. There's no place to sit since it's a small place inside but people manage to roam between the arcade machines and two bars.
My wife and I absolutely had a blast here! Three things I loved: - real authentic old-school arcade atmosphere. I felt that feeling of being in an arcade as a kid in the 80s - The nest grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had in my whole life! - They had the best music! I think they raided my playlist because they played all my favorite music (fugazi, mudhoney, nirvana, dead kennedys)
I came with some friends at the place to have some burgers and a drink. Closing time was 11 pm and we were waiting for an Uber. The temperature outside was 10F with winds, freezing. The Uber had a waiting time of 2 minutes and the bouncer spoke to us in an angry and petulant tone, throwing us out of the place. We kindly asked him to let us wait at the door for 2 minutes for the Uber to arrive because we were going to freeze and the man responded arrogantly: ?I don't care, get out of here.? Definitely terrib
My friends/co-workers & I got together here as a little send off party of sorts. Drinks were great, very fun, colorful, & tasty. Small venue but many games to choose from. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning. 3 stars for food (for the classic grilled cheese, for me personally, it was mid but the other items appeared to be delicious)
21+ to enter, such a good time. The grilled cheese is spectacular, and all the games are really fun to play. When you enter you have to go through the cooler door and then you walk into a fairly big room with tons of arcade games. My fianc? and I had a great time and keep coming back.
Wife and I went there as part of our night out without the kids since we have been a bunch of time and always had fun. We were having a great night playing games and ordered some food. We stopped for a moment to talk and there was a touch lamp on a table. Taped the lamp and headed of to a pinball machine. A few seconds later one of there staff came running out behind us swearing and got in our faces because we touched the lamp. We asked if he was serious since it seemed like a very big reaction for somethin
This place is so much fun. The food was surprisingly good at the bar. The drinks were also great. Pricey but I expected that for the area. Easy to get to by the red line. It can be super crowded however. Again I expected that so I didn't mind.
Grilled cheeses are really good. Small selection of games but all are in good condition. Really fun vibes, great place to hang out with friends or as a date.
Step into your childhood dream at A4cade ?? Hidden behind a fridge door is a magical world of all the best arcade games catered by your favorite childhood foods at Roxys Grilled Cheese. The ultimate throwback night ?? There is a wait line outside due to capacity (we waited around 25 mins), but it's totally worth it! Make your food order through a qr code and head to the bar for your drinks. Then go to the token machine to unlock your happiness ??
We went into this bar after taking a 50 minute trek from our origin. My partner and I went into the bathroom together because we had just had a long journey into the city. We were in there for maybe 3 minutes ? in and out. We had to pee! We had come out of the bathroom and had gone to the front to get our ID?s checked by the bouncer and apparently they have a ?very strict one person at a time in the bathroom policy? and would not let us into the bar after profusely apologizing as we had not known this was t
Cheap Jell-O shots?? arcade is 21+ and requires ID. Huge hidden arcade with lots of retro games, basketball, and Mario kart. Most games cost 0.5 to 1.5 dollars per play, and you get 40tokens for $10.
This place is really fun. It does get crowded on a Friday night (when we went) but we managed to get our fill of playing various games. I had a grilled cheese with avocado and a tomato soup which was yummy. Drinks were beautiful but tasted really weird - some were downright bad? and as a group of 6 people we tried a lot of different ones, none of them actually tasted good.
Awesome hole in the wall (or I should say "awesome place behind the freezer door!"), but awesome can't even explain it. Through the doors that look like you're going into the kitchen of Roxy's. Takes you back to the 80s and 90s, really makes you feel like a little kid again! We played arcade games like Ms. Pac-Man, Marvel vs Capcom, a few different pinball machines, basketball, skee-ball, Cruisin' the World, Buck Hunting, Galaga, and many more. $10 for 40 tokens, not a bad deal at all. Plus you can order th
I love this place. It's 21+, so bring an ID. Before I went in there was a patron arguing about not having his ID and trying to get in. Be prepared. I like all the old school arcade games but my favorite probably has to be Mario Kart. People stood around cheering others on. The drinks were also delightful and I recommend the fried pickles. I had a jello shot and it came in a syringe, which I thought was clever.
This place is my favorite barcade in the city, it's definitely my go-to. There's a great selection of games, especially my favorite games? pinball! I've taken coworkers, friends, and even my parents here! Everyone has had a blast, as there is something for everyone. I do mourn the loss of my favorite pinball machine of all time, Medieval Madness lol. I was obsessed with that game! I'm still on the search to find a place that has that machine!
One of my favorite restaurants to go out to thanks to the food, games, bar selection, gaming at the bar, and excellent service. A geeks dream for dining out at a great price for boston. Get a grilled cheese!! ??
Great place for a Friday evening! It was so much fun, a lot of arcades, pretty cheap tokens ($10 for 40 tokens, each game costs around 2-4 tokens) and fun drinks!
Childhood dream come to life! What more could you want for a fun night of beer, pinball, skeeball and food to die for! They also have a number of vegetarian options on the menu. The servers will walk around and ask if you'd like a drink while you're playing games. It's token based so need to bring quarters. They have a number of the old school arcade games as well as some classics like shuffleboard. There are two bars in either corner and make sure to check out how they designed the ceiling ;-)
Great place. Loved all the old school videos games, the drinks are cute and the atmosphere was fantastic. Great for a date night or just want to do something different.
Just went for the first time over the weekend is a date night and love it here! It is such a vibe! The games are reasonably priced and most of them are old school and the lines don't even take that long! Not to mention the DJ was phenomenal!
This arcade is a hidden gem in Cambridge. It is literally hidden behind Roxy's Grilled Cheese on Mass Ave. After showing your ID at the front door (since this is a bar too), proceed through a swinging door and then a freezer door to enter the arcade. There were 10 new pinball machines, various older arcade games, skeebal, hoops and Mario Kart. I loved the pinball machines, especially Super Mario Bros. They say that they rotate different games in and out. There is a great atmosphere to this place. The
I went there 2 times and the food awesome plus the lovely games that make old memory for my family. I have also order by delivery and the food was fantastic. If you want a family night go there!
An awesome barcade with classic arcade cabinets with reasonable prices for credits to play. Video game inspired menus fit the vibe with interesting cocktails and grilled cheese from Roxy's, makes for a great night for your inner child that's old enough to drink now
Wow, can't believe I didn't find this place sooner. It was the best! Great drinks, great food, great service, wicked nice bartender, fun games, and affordable! Can't wait to go back!!!!!!
If you have a disability they will harass you and make you feel unwelcome. Not inclusive or disability friendly at all which is a shame because I thought Cambridge was a welcoming community. Unfortunately this place is not.
You can only enter with a "proper" ID, which means U.S. American ID, according to their discriminatory policies. We showed multiple valid IDs from France and Italy and were refused entry until showing a passport. The place inside is OK and quite pricey, not worth bringing a passport along for internationals though!
Very nice Arcade bar where you can play any classic game you can think of plus eating some good food! I recommend it. Important for foreigners: bring your passport!
Great place for a fun night! Cool retro/nerdy style mix drinks, and a ton of videos games where you can grab a quick bite to eat and then game the night away. With their connection facility to Roxy's grilled cheese you can't go wrong (their grilled cheeses are phenomenal). My only issue with this place is that it's pretty small but that's typical for a city location so if you're used to it no sweat. Very friendly staff!
Tip: get there before peak hours because it WILL get crowded and there WILL be a line outside with a $5 cover fee on the weekends. Save yourself the hassle!! I liked the experience but I don't know if I would go again. I liked the $5 shots, and the bartenders in the front were ok. You do get 40 tokens for 10 dollars (meh deal because 90% of the games were 4 tokens each). There was a lot of pinball machines, so if you like that, this is for you!! The place is small, and the games are close to each other - if
A4cade is so much fun! It's a great addition to the neighborhood. Food is delicious and prices are low. Get there early because the bar reaches capacity quickly, but that could change since it's still only been less than a month since opening.
Great atmosphere and cocktails. The only thing... This place is a cash-burning machine!!!! Arcade games are just so fun!!!! Many options to enjoy in a group too. Bring your wallet full cause you'll love it!
Fun vibe tucked behind Roxy?s. The games are expensive but there's a good variety (classic arcade, skee-ball, pinball, new games) and all the games are in excellent working order. There are clever cocktails, including some tiki options! The non-alcoholic drinks are also worth trying for a booze-free evening. It would be hard to spend more than an hour here without dumping a bunch of cash into it. But it's still a fun hour!
Awesome. Absolutely astounding. On a weekend trip with my family; couldn't ask for a better way to close out a Saturday night! Short line to get in, excellent drink and food service, great tunes and atmosphere. Honestly, a must stop on your trip into Boston for a weekend night! Gia and Tommy were wonderful! Thanks again for making Boston such a great trip!!
This place is awesome. Old arcade games (Mortal Kombat!) and pinball tables. Great choice of craft beer (try Player 1), burgers very tasty, truffle fries just amazing. 21+
Amazing grilled cheeses and milkshakes. Combined with the games it's a great date spot.
One of my favorite places for bar food. High quality food for the price! A little sad that the shuffle board is gone D: but other games are available to play. I would love the place more if they had Time Crisis!
Super trendy, cool concept. It's definitely a fun place to check out. I went on a Saturday night in June around 830. There was a small line outside that I had to wait in until capacity went down. Their drinks are kinda pricey but the games were reasonable. Oh and they have Roxy?s Grilled Cheese.
This place is so cool! You go through Roxy's to reach the bar + arcade. It has a fun list of drinks. I got the Lonely Girl Margarita (in honor of my love of The Good Place). All of their drinks are themed for tv shows or games which makes them all very fun! Not pictured is the Central Square grilled cheese. It has cherry tomatoes, pesto, and mushrooms. Delicious! But very greasy as well. There are a lot of different arcade games (Ms Pac Man, Galaga, Guitar Hero, etc etc) so there's something for everyone.
While the atmosphere is pretty good and the Grilled Steak & Cheese was really tasty, I don't think the bar was all that great. The cocktails are named better than they taste. Also it's a good bit of money per game and you don't even get one game free with an order which is unusual in my opinion. I'd say drink beforehand elsewhere and then come here to wind down with a sandwich and a round on a classic game instead of making it your whole evening.
I love coming here for amazing sandwiches and fun, sometimes it's a bit loud but it's all good fun and energetic.
I've been to a few other pinball/retro game bars before. A4cade definitely had the best cocktails, however having to pay for all the tokens wasn't my favourite thing. It would have been nice to get even 2 or 3 with my drink.
This is a fun unique bar in the MIT area, packed with arcade games and featuring some nonsense cocktails that you couldn't find anywhere else...The food ain't half bad either - I had a chicken sandwich that was comparable to a monster chik-fil-a sandwich. Definitely worth the experience to drop in and play a few games, but expect to spend some $$$
One of the most interesting places in Boston for a gamer like me. From the outside it looks just like a nice grilled cheese and burger place and yet you step in to the door in the back then into what looks like a walk in fridge and you are in a retro arcade with two bars. Really brought me back to my arcading days.
One of Cambridge?s best spots. Enter through what feels like freezer doors into an incredible arcade fully equipped with two bars and a variety of grilled cheeses. The games are fun and affordable, the beers are good, and the cocktails are themed... and delicious. Spent a snowy afternoon here and it was the perfect activity for my out of town guests!
Very cool vibe arcade bar with a (not so) hidden entrance. Great service and cool decor. We had a few bad experiences with some games. Lost a bunch of tokens in Terminator because one slot ate coins. The Donkey Kong joystick was also broken (can't turn left) which we realized only after paying. Grilled cheese upfront at Roxy?s was bomb though!
Good, reasonably priced food and arcade machines. Good times.
In the back room of Roxy's lies a fun barcade full of pinball machines, one basketball machine, two skeeball machines, a dual console Mario Kart, dual console Cruisin' USA (or derivative thereof), plus Terminator and Area51 shooting games... All with the benefit of to full service bars. Play is with tokens you can buy from servers or bartenders. Definitely a good time though can get crowded on weekends. Oh, there's also an Xbox one you can play at the bar in the back. Has Madden and Rocket League that I sa
Fun arcade games and great bar service. Can't beat Roxy's food for weekend grease. It's pretty crowded on weekends so not only is the line long (we waited ~30 minutes on a snowy friday), you need to wait for most games too. Also, once you go there you feel like a real hipster because a4cade is behind steel doors hidden in Roxy's restaurant, and because there's no sign on the street you don't know about it unless you 'know'. #hipsterlife
Awesome arcade and drinks. Recommend for a fun night out. I don't like writing bad reviews but the bartender (shorter guy at the bar across from the entrance door) was plain rude. My friend who has a foreign accent ordered and the bartender rolled his eyes at him! It's loud in there (we did think they could lower the music a tad) but you shouldn't work in customer-facing jobs if you're rolling eyes at people over a basic drink order. Definitely a mood killer and doesn't make me want to order another drink
Super cool spot! A must! The cocktails are so fun and creative! The atmosphere so so cool!!!
I really liked the hidden bar/arcade behind the freezer door. Food was great! Cinnamon toast crunch shake was thick and delicious. Chicken sandwhich was perfect and we got to play Xbox and ps5 while we ate! So cool!! The arcade is very small but it's packed with as many games and Easter eggs as is humanly possible. It really was hard not to have a smile here. Such a fun, cool place!
Do you want to stand around in a too small room and pay a cover charge to not play any games? Then this is the place for you! We waited behind several games that people refused to give up. Machines are too close together so two people can't play two player games if you have a neighbor. They need to limit the amount of people they let in if they are going to charge just to enter. I won't be back. Only plus is the staff was very nice.
Lots of fun pinball machines like the game of thrones one pictured. Also got a retro batman one and a tron one. The bar has an xbox to play tekken and other games with others. Also got skee ball and street fighter. Cool mix drinks like the one pictured
The food was decent and the drink menu was fun. However, for a barcade of this size the space was far too cramped with the amount of people they allow in at one time. In addition to occupancy issues the music is unnecessarily loud, a barcade with music the same volume as a club doesn't really make sense to me. I'm there to drink and play games, not get tinnitus and have my feet stepped on.
UPDATED 2024: Roxy's Arcade is an amazingly cool spot. At face value, it looks like your standard grilled cheese joint. However, walk past the register and open the freezer door and you'll find out that it's actually a speakeasy arcade. The vibe is amazing. There's a decent amount of arcade games and free console games to play if you sit at the bar and give them your ID. Their drinks are very good and all of them are video game/anime/nerd culture themed. The grilled cheese isn't your typical and it goes
Awesome arcade bar in Boston. Game prices are a tad salty but they have a good game selection, more importantly, pinball. Solid food and drink options as well. Also, Drag Queen trivia!
First time here. It was very nice. It also happened to be trivia night. That was so cool!
Amazing semi-secret arcade place with bars and good food! Please try Mario Kart. I had lots of fun for only $10 worth of coins.
Roxys is the balls quite frankly, to be frank about it. They got the xbox on the tv serious business we love that kinda stuff. My friends and i had a great experience but the bouncer was an absolute psychopath. The guy yelled at my friend for asking where the bathroom was and then interrogated us about how many bars we had been to that night, then gave us a lecture about safe drinking. Completely unnecessary and abrasive. Cool spot though!
an awesome lil' gem for retro gamers & anyone who loves to drink and snack!! they might have to look into expanding their arcade room it was quite busy!!
Fun night of nostalgia! The drinks are fun, fruity, and perfectly themed! Even the staff are dressed to theme. It's a small space and they charge $5 to get in, but I enjoyed playing old school games in this arcade.
Came here to spend some time with my cousin and his friends since I haven't seen him in a while. First glance it was pretty cool and brought some nostalgia, considering I hadn't been to an arcade since I was young. The games were fun, the food was good. I got the late night chicken burger along with some truffle fries. Before hand, I bought 6 green tea shots for 4 of us (including myself). There was an automatic 20% tip gratuity, which I thought was odd considering we didn't even sit at the bar during this,
Such a fun place to visit! We loved everything about the place, from games to drinks and food
Went on a Monday and it was just so ridiculously loud I couldn't even talk to my friend without yelling. They also don't accept quarters in the games or token machines for some reason?? The layout of the place is also very weird. Would?ve given 1 star, but the bartender was nice.
The drinks? Immaculate. The decor? A flash to the past! The service? AN ABSOLUTE VIBE KILLER We encountered two bartenders on Thursday night (April 25); one was a tall, bearded guy who seemed nice, though we never managed to order from him. (sadly) The other, shorter bartender was rude, rolling his eyes at customers and offering curt responses. Despite giving him the benefit of the doubt and asking him ?how are you doing man? as I ordered my shot. His attitude persisted, curtly replying ?not bad? and snat
one of my favorite spots in boston! the vibe is always chill and fun, cool people and chill staff. multiple gaming options and drinks selection at the bar. definitely will be stopping by more frequently during the summer time!
I can't speak to the full atmosphere, because we had someone under 21, and was there to get food, and the food was worth the trip! Had a fantastic burger with mushrooms, tons of caramelized onions, cooked perfectly. The truffle tots were the best cooked tots I've ever had! Everything was made as it was ordered, but it was still done quickly. The service and staff were genuinely friendly!
This wasn't a win for me. We had to hunt for parking this particular weekend due to a local event. Our party didn't have any drinks or anything. We wanted to experience the speak-easy style arcade. It was a cool thing to check out but ultimately not my vibe, maybe it's yours. It's a cramped bar area with old style arcade games. So many pin ball options and some video game style (think pac-man). The gimmick of going through what looks to be a storage room door and then through a walk in freezer door was a co
This arcade is fun, it is lively, it's cute. Guitar hero??? yes yes yes. Drinks were really good and you can order anything from the food menu from the arcade which is really nice. You can pay 10 dollars for 40 coins, which kept us occupied for about 45 min. Missing one star because that arcade was boiling hot I thought I was gonna have a heat stroke in there.
love this place! such a fun vibe, would highly recommend for a fun time out
Drinks are fun. Games variety a little limited by the square footage, a few too many pinball machines in my opinion. Fried Food in front is great option for takeout when finished. Cover charge starts around 8-9 when the line starts to get longer. Line can take about 45 minutes if you come at 11
Fantastic spot, good vibe, great burgers, love the classic arcade.
Decent barcade with S-Tier vibes.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
