Round1 Bowling & Arcade Potomac Mills

Round1 Bowling & Arcade Potomac Mills

Reviews Summary

Round1 offers a mixed experience with strong polarization in reviews. Many praise the wide variety of games, fun atmosphere, and helpful staff, particularly enjoying claw machines and bowling. However, frequent complaints highlight rigged or poorly maintained machines, inconsistent staffing, and overpriced services. Food quality and service receive mixed feedback, with some noting rude staff or limited vegan options. Early closures due to understaffing and misleading hours frustrate visitors. While families and casual visitors often enjoy the arcade, serious gamers criticize the shift toward low-payout claw machines and reduced game variety. Overall, satisfaction heavily depends on individual expectations and luck with machines.

Customer Reviews

The diner is sizable with a nice atmosphere. The entrance and waiting area is a nice size also. The dessert counter is nice as well. We stopped in for breakfast. The parking lot and most tables were full. We waited maybe 5 minutes to be seated. The diner was extremely busy, the kitchen was a little backed up, but they worked it out. We ordered eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, cream chipped beef, toast, English muffin, and coffee. Everything came out piping hot and cooked as requested (to perfection). The server

Great experience! Lots of game choices and bowling was fun. A little a pricey but all arcades are. Definitely cheaper than other ones I've been to. Loved the atmosphere

Awesome place to visit especially if you like claw machines. ALSO tons of dancing games just most are Japanese songs but they still sound great to dance too. Bowling is a huge plus!! Haven't had a chance to eat anything yet but food looks decent when people walk by with it. Overall you won't be disappointed when you go here.

The payouts on these machines are WAY too high... Spent $110 and walked away with one plush. The staff are SO nice but the place is way understaffed. The poor guy working the food counter (who was the nicest guy) needed some help and you could never find someone to help with the games... The food was okay, the best part being the great deal on ice cream. Obviously arcades are always a gamble, especially when they're claw related, but We've been to a few round one arcades and this one felt very money scamm

Round1 at Potomac Mills has some good things going for it, but there are also some pretty significant downsides that keep it from being a standout arcade experience. On the positive side, they offer a decent selection of games, including some cool VR options that are genuinely fun to play. The space is also relatively clean, which is always a plus. However, the overall experience leaves a lot to be desired. The attendants are not very attentive, which can make getting help for issues frustrating. There ar

Liked the place only issue I have is some of the games were not working properly. Also no one told us 15 minutes before they close they cut off games I wouldn't played faster since I probably won't be back there no time in the future since I don't live in Virginia.

I would stay away from here if you care about things like claws and redemption games these days. In the past year or two, they have raised prices, raised the cost to play games, and have made them significantly harder to win. I am giving an example in the photos where the game used to have two spots where if you landed a ball in one, you won the prize. They nerfed it to only have one spot that you can land on. Today, they did an even more extreme nerf where there are three spots and you need to get all

Took my son with special needs and grandson to celebrate my son's 17th birthday. We played in the arcade and we also got a lane to do some bowling. It took some time to get someone to come fix the issue with our lane so we could get started. The food was overpriced in my opinion in my opinion. The prizes for tickets were not that great but I managed to get a few things my son liked. I love that they had a family restroom. I wish all places had that. Overall my son and 4 year old grandson had a great time

Extremely disappointing experience. I spent $60 in less than 10 minutes, and it felt like a complete scam. Most of the vending machines are clearly programmed so you don't win, and some of them just take your money without even starting. Many machines weren't stocked properly, making it impossible to win anything even if you tried. I came with my three kids and we were only able to get one small plush toy ? that's it. I spoke with the manager and gave them multiple chances to make things right, but instead

This place has really gone downhill. Around 60% of the space is now taken up by claw machines, and most of them seem rigged ? the chances of winning anything are incredibly low unless you keep spending more and more money. It feels like they're intentionally designed to squeeze out as much cash as possible for just one plush toy. They've also removed a lot of the fun car and arcade games that used to make this place enjoyable, just to add more Plinko-style machines that feel more like gambling than enterta

Biggest and nicest arcade I've been to in the area. However: I know that claw machines in general are... challenging, but if you spend $40 across half a dozen machines you should have at least gotten *close* to a win. None of our claws even picked up a prize, let alone got it close to the chute. I recommend sticking to the games that provide tickets for playing.

This is a fantastic place, and I lived in Japan and have always been a big fan of Round One. One big problem is the food service. Terribly slow, and many staff are unenthusiastic and overwhelmed. This place really needs an active manager to oversee the food operation?on the weekends especially. So much potential to be better. Plus it's super expensive for a family to have fun.

Best arcade I have been to with great games to play. It has a variety of games and crane machines compared to other arcades, some being Japanese imports. I was addicted to playing Wangan Midnight and Initial D, the only arcade I know have them. They even sell data cards to save data for some games. I do wish they open another location in Loudoun or Fairfax, but it's worth it coming here.

It was not the best experience. For the money you pay. Def not worth it. It was overwhelming. And Unorganized. Did the kids have fun? Probably. They don't know better. However if your booking a party just know the below. * Very Very low staffing * The bar ended up closing at 4pm. For the remainder of the night. * although my party room was available ontime, my party's bowling didn't start ontime as I was waiting for someone to give me game cards (as this is suppose to work the entire party) * Karoke.

Clean, fun! Bowling was great! Next time will we will try the food. We went on a weekday so it was not super busy.

A clean, fun atmosphere, but the claw machines are very much rigged. My little brother only found one machine that ever gave any prizes out. Other than that, the games are good except that many are out of order or take points from your card but don't let you play. Overall, there are much better places you can go. I enjoyed this place for the most part, but I would never go here again.

The place is nicely well kept and the atmosphere is quite nice. Customer service was awesome. BIG props to Yarielys, for being super helpful with the crane machines (those things are always breaking). Overall great experience, will most definitely come back again.

Nice fun place. I didn't know it was here. I am with a bunch of friends as a team building exercise for our BNI group. Arcade must be very popular with the children. Not too busy on a Wednesday at 6 pm. Clean, nice, wine and beer are sold.

Round1 PMM was where I began my descent into arcade rhythm games and its selection is solid! I'm not super into the redemption or crane games but the options there are fine. Redemption prizes lately haven't been to my liking anyways - crowds can be extremely rowdy and can be annoying or rude while you're playing, especially younger children. DDR tends to have pad issues but usually get fixed, although unsure of the expediency of that now that their mech just left. Games tend to usually have issues but I'm s

This place used to be so much fun! Last year, we spent over $1,000 here just to enjoy ourselves. The staff were super nice, and the experience was worth it. But this year, everything seems to have changed! The current staff are incredibly rude, and the paid gifts are so stingy. Additionally, they've set up some claw figure machine games in an almost impossible way to win, which is not worth it at all. For example, the box-pushing game used to start with the box between two rods, but now it starts on a flat

This arcade is great!! There is so many different games to play...and the popular ones have more than one machine!! From bowling, air hockey, basketball, soccer, tons of different crane machines, DDR, DJ simulation, etc

We enjoy coming here late-afternoon and leaving around dark for dinner, since the crowd can increase. The venue is well-maintained with less than 2% of machines needing repair, while it felt like we had unlimited choices of other games to choose from. Next time, we'll try bowling and the hot food options.

Ticket prize redemtion has gone up along with future chip reload increase coming in the future. Almost every prize in the Victory Zone has doubled the price of tickets you had saw last time. I would not come here anymore as the corporate greed is getting out of control now. They also are now closed at 12am due to short staff. Beware coming for claw machines as they are now higher payouts.

Reminds me of a time long since passed with a flare of modern touches. Great place to hang out with friends and just take a load off. The games are functional and there is a great variety of genres. Definitely worth a visit.

Do not come here under any circumstances. They recently changed the machine settings and the prizes have become literally unwinnable. Staff is unhelpful and obviously does not care because they are just doing their jobs. Find a better way to spend your money folks.

Definitely one of the biggest arcades I've been to!Came with family ages ranging from 2-30 and we all had a blast.

Their hours online said they're open till 2am everyday. We walk in at 11 expecting to play for 3 hours, so we buy a card for over $100 just for them to then go around and say they are closing early at 12 because they're ?short staffed?, even though we saw at least 6 workers. No warning at the door when we arrive when an employee is always there. What a waste of time and money. Don't waste your time coming here!

This place is literally the worst for customer service. Last year I spent nearly $1000 on my kids birthday party only to come in and find old chicken bones and on the floor and dirty tables. The room wasn't even set up or organized. The staff they claim we are short staffed and unable to help. Even when my daughter got hurt, they were too busy to help until I showed them she was bleeding. Today a year later I go back hoping for a different experience and wanting to book another birthday party for my other

They are a great place to eat your haircut no matter the haircut they try their hardest even if it seems impossible. They really do follow. The model of the customers choice is best.

Gotta be the best arcade in Northern Virginia area I've been to so far. I found all the games I once used to play in a foreign country and which I've searched for everywhere in Virginia the entire time here in different kinds & versions! Parking lot width and availability and it's location within the mall was pleasing. Staff and employees are very accommodating. Space, area, hygiene of the arcade was satisfying. Nice place to spend free time!

My kids love this place, but I have a concern about the safety. Everytime I go there always cops surrounding the place because someone got hurt or robbed. It just don't no damn since. Community leta get it together for us and our children.

Great Arcade with plenty of options. Some games have aged and have some wear. Staff is friendly and helpful. Basketball, and football, target throwing games could use some extra balls. Kind of unfair for patrons to not have a fair advantage for what they pay for.

Attempted to go here last Sunday for my 4 y/o?s birthday at the published 10:30 opening. We waited 15 minutes, with employees of the joint who finally told us they could not get a hold of their manager to open the building!? I overheard her tell a coworker that same thing happened the day prior. And how is it the only place it says 1030 opening is Google? Not on phone or building. Thanks for ruining our attempts for a low key family good time ??

It's quiet when we visited mid day weekdays. Many new games but over all, not good in terms of value for money due to low ticket ratio to redeem per game.

The games were nice, i wish they had a bigger variety, you could spend a solid 30 minutes there but no more

lot of pote tial but not nearly as fun as many other Round1s around the states. clawmachines are obviously set up to drop prizes more often. even things like the coin waterfall games are more stingy than others. but make sure not to bring little kids on Fridays. at least twice have had teenagers running around beating on machines and running into kids. probably why there had to make the claw games a ripoff, too much overhead making repairs to things idiots are breaking

Update: not much has changed but they definitely brought their game up for claw machines. The plushies and figures are much better and they updated their arcade games as well so I'm bumping this to four stars. It's worth a try. Pretty good place. Better things to do than Dave and busters but food and drinks are lackluster and expensive. Would recommend going there to play games, billiard and bowling but not for the food. I would've gave a better score if they served better food.

Stopped in during Christmas shopping. This place is amazing! You walk down thinking that's the end only to find more games! There's a bar, bowling area, and karaoke. There were hand, eye coordination games I used to play when I worked in China. This spot closes into the wee hours of the morning. It's a shame that we live so far away.

Paid 1 hour for my child, but something changed only few games whe. I've complained they said only green. I knew but we found out the changed a lot of games from green to paid ones. Won't come back.

Drove an hour to get the surprise that they are closing at midnight due to ?being short staffed? for using the claw machines ??? Just ridiculous to come out and waste my time and money. Why isn't the website updated to show this or why didn't anyone at the front let me know of this.

Very large and clean arcade. The employees are very friendly and helpful This Round 1 charges a bit more for credits than others - $110 vs $100. The claw machines have mostly American characters.

Round 1 offers an Awesome Entertainment?s Amusement Center with plenty of space to have Fun with the Family. They offers a variety of different options too choose from like Bowling, Pool Tables, Arcade Games, Private Party Rooms, A Bar and A Cafe to order some great food. Round 1 is located at Potomac Mills

It's Spring Break this week and my daughter and I had a fantastic time enjoying the games and atmosphere at Round1 in Potomac Mills Mall. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I was especially excited to see two new vegan friendly items on the menu: the Plant-Based Bao ? ?Pork? and the Plant-Based Bao ? Azuki (Sweet Red Bean). It may seem like a small step, but I want to sincerely applaud the Round1 team for offering these thoughtful additions. It made a big difference in our experience and reflected a

It's woodbridge. Prices went up by alot. Workers barely like there job. It decently clean but other people ruin the experience. Food was pretty good. Bowling is expensive. Just overall an okay experience.

I think this is the best arcade in the NoVA area. Easily way better than Dave and Busters IMO, and any other arcades that you'll find around here via Yelp or Google. I reallyyyy enjoy the japanese style crane games here that let you win plushies and stuffed animals. The prizes are super cute (and way better than typical stuffed animals). I've seen gudetama, sumikko gurashi, line friends, BTS characters, and sanrio just to name a few. Keep in mind that you aren't supposed to pick up the plushies like a typ

Maybe good for family bowl, but any serious bowler should skip. So much oil in the pin box that pins would slide completely across the pin box while standing? Whatever"pattern" they laid down was from stem to stern... Straight balls only.

Very clean and amazing arcade! They have lots & lots of games plus a great friendly staff! Their games range from new and old school like marvel vs capcom 2 and classic Street fighter, bonus you play them on a nice hd LCD screen. Plenty of claw machine with nice prizes! Their food is also great and cheap in case you get hungry. All around great addition to the Potomac Mills Mall!

Someone the items in their food menu were not available. The amount of games was substantial but the variety of stuffies and plushies and dolls was not as extensive as other round ones.

I don't normally leave reviews, however a gentleman named Yuma was a big help in showing me how to operate the skill games properly. I had played this one game over and over and over again without any progress he then came by and proceeded to assist me and show me how to do it the correct way, which in turn lead to a few more tries which at that point I had won. This made me really excited because I always try to play these games, but seem to never win and him showing me gave me a better chance at winning.

Great place for entertainment. Have a variety of game options for kids and adults. Good cafe menu, bowling space, pool tables and party rooms! My son had a blast

.This arcade has tons of variety in games, ranging from old arcade style games including neogeo titles, to rhythm game titles such as project diva and sound voltex. They also have your traditional set of arcade games you find everywhere, and a lot of coin pushers. The arcade is also filled with aisles of crane machines which was a blast to win things from. The location also has bowling, billiards, and karaoke which I haven't tried, but am looking forward to trying with friends. Based on the price and how mu

This place is so much better than Dave and Busters in Fair Oaks Mall and Uptown Alley in the Manassas Mall. There are several games for all ages, a ton of claw machines (even tiny ones for smaller prizes) a bar, food, bowling, private party rooms, and pool tables.

The worst ramen noodles I ever had! For $10.99, this is all you get, a small bowl with noodles, a few seaweed, some kind of vegetable, and 1 piece small meat! Soooo not worth it!!!

Amazing!!! So big with many games to play after shopping. They even have bowling. My child loved the old school games, really cool. No tickets, all tickets save to card. Overall great experience for the little time we were there.

Love that it has games and bowling in same place. My son loves going. Bowling is a bit more expensive then other places but over all good place to take your kids for a good time.

Heard about this arcade while visiting DC, place is loaded with lots of fun redemption games and anime merchandise. Tons of games to choose from on the arcade side as well, and all of the systems are properly calibrated/maintained. There's also a bowling alley for folks not big on the video games.

Variety of indoor activities available for all age groups. Includes Japanese style arcade games and a Japanese menu for those who are hungry! Bowling, pool tables, and karaoke also make for fun group activities

I visited Round 1 a few times and my kid really enjoyed it. I normally just play the old games and the toy machines to get plush toys. Now, they just added to toy machines (mini versions) with cool mini toys, the problem is that the claws are rigged. If you are able to pick up the toy, once the claw goes up it opens for a split second to release the toy, so you can't win. (See video below).

Staff has no clue what they are doing or how anything works for what they sell, they all will tell you completely different information from one to the next. Management needs to do their job

I really came here for the claw machines. But really enjoyed the big variety of games. Enough space to play and walk. It was really a pleasure coming out here. I live 40 mins away and seen that they have some imported japanese arcade games. I really recommend this place.

Great place was friendly atmosphere fun games everything seemed to work except couldn't reload your card.

Claw machines are your typical systems, but I got quite a few prizes with $120, my brother also got 3 plushies for 50 bucks.

Nice place for hanging out with friends and family. Good collection of games. Food is tasty and reasonable. Place is cleaned and hygienic. Staffs are not much friendly though. Overall good experience.

This place has changed. Years ago you could win many stuffed animals from the claw machines. Today they have signs that stay "do not resell stuffed animals." If people could win the prizes then maybe they wouldn't turn to internet to buy the stuffies! They no longer have signs telling you how to win stuffed animals either. When asked to reset toy they make sure to push the animal as far as they can into the balls allowing for no grip on toy. So stay away unless you want to waste large amounts of money. A

The loudspeaker announcements here are frequent, just TOO loud, and vibrate my ears. People are plugging their ears with their fingers as I write this - so it's not just me. The food is just really bad no prep stuff like nachos and fries. ?You want free water? My boss frowns upon this.? *pours 6oz water in rocks glass* ?? The water bottles are 2.50. The beer pitchers were pretty flat. Its nice that they also have pool tables here and it's well lit (maybe too brightly) inside.

Huge place, lots to do, food is alright. Fun time! I liked their selection of rhythm games.

I bought these taquitos just now and when I tried them they had a strange taste and I realized that they are expired with black things

I've been to five round one arcades across America, this is by far the worst one. Whoever runs this place is a cheapskate. The machines do not pay out the advertised ticket to coin ratio, many machines are inoperable, there is a very few select machines that are available on time d play, ridiculously few number of DDR games compared to other round1s. Claw machines payout with far more play than other round ones. All skill games are poorly maintained. Go somewhere else.

The Food Server was rude af today. Some sloppy behind Gen Z I try to have grace but I'm tired. He'll improve with time!!!!

Quite pricey, staff not very friendly. Also, trash everywhere. A few games are not working but a decently fun place.

perfect to spend a fun and different time with the family without leaving the city

So thankful for Angelina and Sarah at Round One for making my daughter's birthday party a success! Angelina was extraordinary from the time we booked the party until after party cleanup! Sarah took wonderful care of all of our guests! This place and its staff are a gem! My daughter and her friends loved the bowling, karaoke, arcade, and food!!! We will return!!!!

Great arcade and mostly polite employees but DO NOT book a party at Round1. They were late on everything (room setup, food service) and many things didn't work as expected (bowling, game cards, kareoke) causing us to go running across their vast space to seek assistance several annoying times. When I did go in search of employees they were accommodating once I could find them, but one had the audacity to sarcastically explain that he couldn't teleport the person I needed to help me because he doesn't have a

Ok arcade. If you are looking for claw games this place has more than enough. I miss the 80s and 90s arcade.

Decent Food, and Tasty Drinks. Traditional Bowling Alley Experience. Moscow Mules were only $4!

Looks like a very kid friendly place, where kids could spend all day. I was on my way to the movie, so we just kind of cut through and took a peek.

Love it! My kids have been a few times since it has opened and have had a blast every time! They are always entertained and love that they have so many activities and games to choose from!

Took my family in for an hour of bowling. Started off real good and we were enjoying ourselves. We quickly noticed a lot of other families were having issues with their lanes. As we began to look closer at ours, we were having some issues too. The lane kept continuously not counting the correct pins. It would say 0-0 when in fact we hit many of them down(no we don't just suck at bowling). The machine would also reset the pins at random. The family next to us waited for 10 mins for someone to come out and re

My recent experience of this place was a let down. Ordered a burger several minutes before my friend and my burger came out at the same time as his even though I placed my order several minutes before his. The lack of work ethic from the the person the grill area was sub par and mediocre Sunday night. Spent more time on his phone or socializing instead of performing his job while on the clock. Had to wait too long for a burger on a slow night patiently watching it all happen isn't a place I would want to sp

Nice spacious place to enjoy yourselves with food and entertainment the best time to go to me is during the week when it's not too crowded.

So I would've given this place at least 4 stars for the prices BUT we had to wait 20 mins to bowl after paying because the"Bowling person" was in the bathroom or wherever, then after buying one drink and wanting another we couldn't and had to wait AN HOUR for the"bar person" to come back from their lunch break! I asked for a manager thinking she could help but NOPE she came withan attitude and couldn't even pour a freaking beer! Talking bout it has to be a "Certified" person! Really at an arcade??? Ok...I

Incredibly disappointing tonight. My friends and I came here around 8 to have a good time. Immediately my friend and I needed to go to the bathroom and we were told we had to ask for access, to which we were denied because two kids were smoking weed and trying to have sex in the bathroom. Why not just say something and kick them out of the stalls immediately so your guests who are actually guests can do something as simple as pee? I've never had to ask to go to the bathroom here before, and I think it's abs

Went to round1 yesterday around 2-4p and it was nice! We only won one plushie and there was not many employees, but the staff we did interact with was nice! They have drinks food and bowling too as well as regular arcade games! You will be very broke if you let yourself spend too much ????

I live 2 hrs away from this round1 and personally I love coming here. I come quite often with my boyfriend and it is always so much fun. The claw machines are fair, the staff is super helpful and they have a plethora of games to play and choose from. If you are thinking of going I highly recommend it.

Staff are super nice. The place is amazing I could sit in here all day if I had to playing games. I love the baseball pro arcade machine !

Came here a few weeks late for the Round1 X Hololive event after going to the Round1 in Greensboro, NC. This store is near sold out for claw machine items except for the Fuwawa chibi keychain. I got the towel and 3 keychains. The food was really good, I would recommend people to try the food after they're done with the arcade. Overall, 10/10.

Good place, don't buy food.

It's a fun place but several of the games are inoperable. The claw means are just money pits- you win nothing and many are also out of service. It's a great place to pass time but not worth a repeat visit until things get better.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025!
