Round1 Bowling & Arcade Fox Valley Mall

Round1 Bowling & Arcade Fox Valley Mall

Reviews Summary

Round 1 offers a mix of experiences, with many praising its diverse arcade games, bowling, and family-friendly atmosphere, especially noting Japanese imports and fun claw machines. Staff like Ian, Josh, and Felicia receive high marks for excellent service. However, complaints highlight rigged claw machines, high costs, malfunctioning equipment, and overbearing security. Some long-time visitors feel the arcade has declined, replaced by too many prize machines. Cleanliness and maintenance issues occasionally detract from the experience. While many enjoy it as a lively entertainment spot, others find it disappointing or overpriced.

Although it is expensive, there are some fun games for kids and to play with kids. The claw machines are always a letdown, with very slim chances of winning?exactly as they're designed. It's a good spot to keep kids entertained for about an hour, maybe once a month.

Fun place to take kids! Be prepared to spend money with what they have to offer. If you want to have a great day with the kids. It will be worth there excitement!

We brought our staff to round one for some bowling and karaoke for the whole team! Felicia was EXCELLENT. She made the night 1000X better with her friendly demeanor and accommodating attitude. We will return again specifically because of how wonderful Felicia made the experience!

I recently celebrated a family member's birthday at Round 1 Bowling, and it was an absolute blast! The venue offers a spacious arcade with a variety of games upstairs, while downstairs you'll find comfortable bowling lanes. The pizza was surprisingly good, and the lanes weren't crowded on a Friday. There are also ping pong and pool tables, plus 99 cent ice cream cone scopes. Highly recommended for a fun-filled day!

I love going to round 1 to point most of the staff already recognizes us when we come in. The games change a lot and so do the prizes which makes coming back weekly fun. My one and only issue I have a lot is the handicap parking in front of it. There's about 6 and they are always full even though I never see a single handicapped individual in there. I know some handicaps are invisible but I'm 90% wheelchair bound or barely walking with a cane. Parking on other side of mall isn't always an option and walking

There are wide range of games, particularly the dancing games, stood out as the highlights of my experience. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. While most of the games were in good working order, I noticed that some machines were not functioning properly. It would be beneficial for the management to address these issues promptly to ensure a seamless gaming experience for visitors. Additionally, I found that certain games had very short time limits, making it challenging to achieve

There's always some adventure I can talk about after I visit here. For one the claw machines actually work, there's this guy with a cute anime-type haircut wearing a suit who seems to upkeep the plushy options. I still can't figure out why he wears a suit and no one else does, but I've gone often enough to know he's always wearing one. Then there's the karaoke room, they're all private and SUPER affordable. They haven't updated there song picks in forever, which is a shame and if you ask them to fix a flic

Overpriced!! We paid around $40 for each kid, and they couldn't even play for 30 minutes until the card ran out of credits. I also needed to get rid of my empty coffee cup, I walked through the entire second floor and couldn't find one garbage can. I had to go downstairs to the bathroom to throw that away.

It's pretty decent, a little overpriced in my opinion. I mean, after all, it's geared towards the kids, and I think they should expand their variety of games. But I'm interested in going bowling there one day. Staff is cool and efficient.

I love it here. I keep coming back every now and then whether it's by myself, with friends, or with family. Yeah it's expensive but it's definitely worth it. My only criticism is that maintenance on arcade games don't seem to be as often as they should. For example, Dance Rush Stardom used to work like a charm, now whenever I play it the stage is extremely buggy and thinks my feet are all over the place when they're really in one spot. In a nutshell: Great place for entertainment, stuff's expensive but wort

Security guards on a power trip. They had a bald security guard following our group the whole night. It was so weird and they were so bad at hiding it. At one point the lady security guard with the karen hair at the front door came to our karaoke room and peeked through the window to watch us and she scurried away embarrassed because we saw her do it. I wouldn't be surprised if she sent the bald guy to moniter us the entire time. And for what?? We even saw both of them talking about us while looking at us.

This place is definitely fun if you have the money to spend. The games are way over priced and the claw games will literally take all your money if you are determined to win a certain prize! The prizes are way to heavy for a claw that wouldn't be able to pick up a feather. Would be fun for a date night idea or guys or girls night out.

ROUND 1?s unlimited pass is a scam as most machines need separate points card and the ones with green lights are broken. Brought kids for birthday party and they were utterly disappointed till I started getting them points cards which is expensive and lacks value

Shout out to Justin the manager on duty on Saturday the 22nd of March he did a great job that day with me and my family welcomed us and helped us out with purchasing items from credits and to using our tickets helped us out immediately if a machine would go down and get it fixed by maintaince withing minutes I have lots of fun with my family here, you can be and adult and have fun and also for the kids there a bit of everything for everyone. Great customer service.

Really nice and better place than Dave and Buster's! This is based off of my opinion because Round 1 compared to Dave and Buster's; Round 1 is more entertaining than Dave and Buster's because they have lots of games and claw machines! They also offer bowling and karaoke if you plan having your birthday party there. Just note that not all claw machines will guarantee a payout just because you play once or twice. It'll take 5-15 tries to get the prize you want from either claw machines, but some of them have

Expansive and too many machines are in Japanese. Not being able to read the directions or anything on many games, seriously frustrated my kid. Put a bit of a damper on his birthday celebration.

Floors dirty, service at food and bar was terrible. Games are expensive but you expect that. Biggest telling game fact was when the kids went to redeem tix they had no plastics bags to put stuff in. Staff said they were out for a month. Suggested to go buy some and they said corporate fines them if they do that. Terrible service. Great example when management has no control or authority to do anything because some suit in corporate says so.

Round 1 is one of my favorite go to places for the video games and the prize machines. I love that all their prizes in the machines come directly from Japan. This place is a bit smaller than all the other ones I've been to. I couldn't use my normal round 1 card, they told me I had to get a different one... I highly recommend putting at least $50 to $100 onto your game card to get a lot of good plays. One play usually costs you about $1.25 to $3 for the prize machines. Once you figure out how to play the gam

Thank you so much! You made this Mother's day! Went to celebrate my birthday and every employee there was amazing! Super friendly! Never had to wait long for prizes won. Hopefully we will spend more birthdays here!

I was enjoying the arcade when someone stole my bright yellow shopping bag with more than $60 worth of clothes and the staff were completely useless! tried talking to the manager asking for help to maybe see cameras and she was immediately rude and refused to help. genuinely they suck.

Round One is a great place for many reasons. I have children ranging from ages 2yrs old to 24yrs! There is something here for all of us! Endless arcade games. I bring my 3 year old here during the week. I practically spend no money because he doesn't care if there's money in the games. Lol We bowl a game for about 6 bucks and get the .99 ice cream cones which are huge! Another hit for all ages! For my teens, they love the billiards/pool tables and bowling! The fried pizza and chicken are always a hit with

I love coming to Round One. The coin pushers and the ball drop are my favorite games! The 1 dollar ice cream cones are a great deal, and I've come in from the mall before to use the bathroom, which I find are often cleaner than the mall's bathrooms lol.

Bowling was a tad bit overpriced. 4 people was about $150 on a Sunday evening. Bumpers weren't working either, they also didn't have my daughter?s shoe sizes. It was fun but not willing to pay that much again.

LOOKs very exciting. Great for group outing. Plenty of games, different cars / motorbikes. Very conveniently located right after one of the Mall Entrances. Highly visible from the outside with a Statute of a tall Bowling PIN. ... Will come back some time with some friends,,, A FUN PLACE

Ha my Name is Lisa and me and my Family visited Round 1 on 10/30 we drove 1Hour to get to Galaxy phone world but on our way we visit this location and see that it was a lot of fun we was going to celebrate my Daughter's Birthday and we just so happen to run into Fox mall and ran into this location it was very exciting . This was the best day of my daughter Birthday she really enjoyed her self this is an awesome place to go to have fun with family and friends . This was worth the hour drive this is

Man, this place used to be AWESOME. It had just the right balance of the typical boring crap you find at every "family entertainment center" and great hardcore Japanese games you couldn't find at any other arcade in Illinois. In 2025, however, it honestly kinda sucks. Prize/crane/"UFO catcher" machines have taken over almost the entire top level. All the cool older stuff they used to have, like Cho Chabudai Gaeshi (the table flipping game), light gun games, racing games, and even puzzle games like Tetris t

Had all of the games for 2 people and almost the whole majority of the games are fun and playable with 2 or more people. Too bad that you can't use your own cards to operate the machines, but that's probably a good thing for them at least.

Great fun, lots of games, pool, ping pong, ice cream, however it is quite pricey.

Great time a lot of claw machines if you're into them . But they do have games for all ages ! Great way to spend some time on a rainy day or if it's too hot outside.

We visited here today and the 4 of us were entertained for about 2 hours for $36.... We got the all u can play cards but we're limited to the green games. These were older games that consists of driving, shooting, sir hockey Tekken and skiing games.... Not a bad cold weather get away place.

Family was in town for the holidays and took the kids here. Having a great time bowling. We ran into a small issue with the time expiration. Ian and Josh helped us out resolving this and made the kids super happy. Thank you both for helping make this a great and fun time for the kids and family

absolutely love doing karaoke here!!!! felicia has taken such good care of us and makes our experience here comfortable and seamless whenever we have the pleasure of running into her! i have introduced so many of my friends to this round1 specifically for karaoke and this experience, and will into the future! <3

Over the past few years, visiting this place to celebrate the end of summer before school starts has become our tradition. The allure lies in the arcade games and the deal of playing for a solid hour and a half for under ten dollars. On weekdays, the venue is pleasantly uncrowded, affording us the luxury of playing in all our favorite games without any waiting. Yet, the true highlights of our outings revolve around the claw machines. With some patience and guided by luck, we consistently triumph in securing

fun place to bring your kids the arcades are fun and they give you alot of points, prize room is filled with aswome stuff, something else i like about this place is that it's not that loud in there, also have bowling and pool downstairs if you want to come with your friends. Also they close at 5 am. over all

Horrible service in Fox valley mall location, can't believe that employee his name is Ethan was lie with the kids about key chain , they have promotions like $44 or $55 you get 1 key chain or $100 you will get 2 key chains when you reload game credit, he supposed to give me 3 because I loaded 2 game card with $155 , but so sadly with his personality , he said he ran out , but literally I saw his co-worker gave it to another client who paid after us , my daughter is 8year old , she was like wow , adult is lie

Great location, the indoor atmosphere is awesome. VR games, arcade games, slot machines, and even collaboration like Hololive. Would recommend

All ways a great inexpensive time with the entire family when we hang out at Round 1. The convenient location inside the Fox Valley Mall is an extra plus.

Great place for people of all ages. There so much to do here: bowling, ping pong, pool/billiards, arcade games. The only downside I've consistently experienced is issues with their bowling machines. They continue to breakdown or malfunction in middle of games and the staff would have to move you to a different lane which is pretty annoying.

First and last time. Bowling lanes kept malfunctioning, so my ball kept getting stuck. It took about 10 minutes that I payed for for an employee to fix it, but it kept happening. Would not recommend unless you like wasting your time.

Great spot for birthday parties. The staff are very accommodating and kind!! All the games work and everything is in service!! Great food also!

Nice place to go especially for the kids. Plenty of games and room for them to run around at. Also games and other entertainment for adults at the lower level.

I come here with my partner regularly, it's located in the mall and we enjoy the claw machines and coin/ marble pusher games. There are a lot of good prizes to be won here from figurines to plushies/ stuffed animals. The staff is always friendly and helps when a machine stops working or if you've won a prize. They have a new gashapon area but we have not played there as the prices for just one play is way too much for us. If you reload your game card make sure you go up to the counter there's always a p

I love coming to Round 1. I go to this location and to the one in Ohio several times a year. Granted, it is a bit priceir than I care for, but the kids and I have a great time regardless. Staff are always very friendly at both locations as well. All of the games are fun to play and test a range of skills to do so. I rarely see a game that is broken whenever I visit. I have never seen an issue with cleanliness either. I will be back.

Listen it's a catch 22, sometimes great other times not, security is waaaay to uptight at time like they were hounding us for our ids and then when we went to grab them, they made a weird comment??? Like okay bud chill, and then we like to do the karaoke and out of the 7 times we've been we've only been able to do karaoke twice, and one of the times was just because the guy didn't want to do it, like he straight up said "I'm not dealing with that tonight" and we're extremely polite so we were really confuse

Went bowling at Round 1 but lines were long...arcade machines didn't work, and staff said to wait for repairman to arrive...waited forever and no resolution Then went bowling downstairs and we had mechanical issues with the lane. Had to stop playing to get someone to reset...lost over 25 mins waiting for resetting...guy apologized and offered refund. We said ok, but then his manager told him over the radio that they do not give refunds...ridiculous!!

Felicia is by far the kindest, most passionate worker. Berto also fantastic. They made our experience great!!

The best! If you want to bowl, come here. It's super affordable and the food is amazing and very affordable.

The food service portion was a disappointment. The burly guy taking my order either didn't care or was a D on purpose. Games and sports on the TVs kept the vibe up.

2 Levels, in side Fox Valley Mall you will love not only bowling but the arcade , but lots of shopping and eating at a variety of restaurants

Love the Japanese style games and coin pushers. Great selection of items to trade tickets for. Always a good time.

Horrible customer service. I got accused of going to the girls bathroom and yelling once we got there it was a they/them looking dude manager that came up to us right away once we got there and he just ruined the vibe after.

Scam. Claw lets prizes go mid air because it is too flimsy. Way too expensive for that. Go to round 1 in Gurnee instead

I asked for help and a manaher immediately got on his phone after chatting with his employees about nothing for like 20 minutes. Let the employees do all of the dirty work I suppose! Even the employees don't have good things to say about working there by the way, that's all you need to know :)

Felicia is incredible!! Berto was also fantastic!! We all loved our experiences and will be back again!!

I was in the prize area and saw this sign on display and I really loved it! There was none left in stock but the female worker said that I could use my tickets to just buy the display one instead! I did not catch her name, but she was super nice and friendly. She even boxed it up for me and had it ready to go for when I was ready to leave! Will definitely return here again, and tell me friends and family about this place. Amazing customer service, and such a wonderful experience! Thank you!

Staff was super super nice! This location seems to be getting more claw machines vs skill based machines so you have to reach payout for those unfortunately :( skill based games are super fair but repetitive prizes

It smells terrible and everything just looks so dirty. Still have gift cards to there but will NEVER go again.

We had a lot of fun as a family. We bowled and then played some arcade games. It's pretty pricey, but for once in a while, not bad. We did not eat there, so I can't speak on the food.

This use to be a fun arcade place but now it's surrounded with tons of claw machines and coin pushers. It's quite disappointing to see and it's much more costly.

A lot of great variety and attentive staff on floor. Prize room is chaotic and there's no signage for where to have a line. Staff in prize room are a little condescending and not great at handling pressure.

Very cool place to go and play games shoot pool or even bowl. Lots of games to choose from, including games from Japan. The prices are not bad, especially with the selection.

It's a mixed bag round 1 Pros: -located in a pretty popular mall -karaoke rooms are pretty good aside from having to manually disconnect them to retry -variety of stuff to do like bowling, ping pong, pool, etc Cons: -multiple times when I've tried to get the karaoke rooms before the 12 pm price increase, I was told there was no mechanic on site to turn on the rooms, which I think is a scam so people pay the after 12 pm karaoke prices instead of the cheaper before 12 pm prices -bowling is expensive. $20 pe

Round 1 Is a center with cool video games & a pool stan Table Area that has you intrigued.

Bowling was terrible. Original lane kept getting jammed. Was moved to another lane it reset itself over and over again for about 10 minutes. Finally was able to bowl. We purchased 90 minute bowling. We can usually bowl 3-4 games in 90 minutes. Didn't even get through 3 games with 2 people. They gave us extra time but it didn't matter. Took on average 55 seconds to reset the lane between throws. That's an extra 20 minutes a game wasted to watching the lane reset itself. Furthermore, the balls got stuck on a

Table tennis is 12$ for an hour of playing around, which is pretty cheap entertainment. Would recommend bringing your own paddles if you are serious. The paddles for rental are quite awful.

Our experience was so disheartening and a disgusting given we went as I went with my siblings to have a good time. The last 30 minutes of our game, a security guard comes up to us and says we need to have an adult 25 or over to keep playing after our current game ends. Firstly, I wish the front desk had told us this when we checked in considering we were planning on playing multiple games, but fine. We understood and told him we will leave then. The last 20 minutes of our game, another security guard stood

Kids had a blast here! The bowling was affordable and so much fun. There's a huge selection of games in the arcade so there was a game for everyone. We love going here and wish they would open one closer to us.

This was fun. We went on a Friday for my nephew's birthday. The games are nice here. You can spend a lot of money quick playing the games. No different from any other arcade place. We got there around 6pm and stayed for 2 hours. Place wasn't crowded, lots of space to move around. The kids really enjoyed getting gifts from the shop. Nice selection.

Other than not one machine having card it's was a blast. Packman claw machine if you don't want to walk away empty handed!

This bowling alley is rotting from the inside and the management is to blame! I was told they are charging $17 for 90 minutes on a Sunday (after 9pm) because "they decided to do Friday prices that day", and they only had 3 lanes open. I attached the correct pricing sheet, which is at the front counter, for reference. After pointing out the discrepancy, I was told that was "just the price" by whom I hope was not the key holder or God forbid "assistant manager". I can understand the lack of employees due t

The staff were friendly and helpful anytime I needed them to unlock a winning vending machine. This place, in my opinion, has a higher chance of winning something in value such as a figurine, than something purely for redeemable tickets such as Dave and Busters. I spent about $50 and won 2 Kaiju no. 8 figurines from a claw machine.

Huge shout out to Berto! We had several questions about the different types of cards available as well as which credit amount would be the best option. He was extremely kind the entire time and was very helpful! My partner and I opted to go for the $120 option and we were pleasantly surprised that it also came with two lanyards! We had no idea, and so he explained that it came with the purchase. So that was really nice! Overall had a great experience in Round 1 and would def come again for the games and sta

What an amazing time we had here! I was looking for an arcade to do a little day date and saw this in the area. I'm also a big nerd, so when I saw they had anime items, I knew I had to go. The place wasn't too busy, but was very clean! Anytime we had to have something fixed or repositioned, the attendants were happy to help! We made out with a few different prizes and had a great time playing all the game, highly recommend checking it out!

This place is beautifully decorated for the holidays. You have lot of options to shop and eat. If you want to spend your weekend shopping or just window shopping and for food and entertainment this is the place to go in Naperville. Fox Valley Mall is centrally located on Route 59 with lot of other outlets around it.

My child goes with her grandfather often and spends their share of money here. Quite overpriced. But on our last experience she was playing the Tower of Tickets and "won" a roll of 300 tickets. There was a previous winner's tickets in the slot so my daughter's tickets weren't calculated. When we talked to the cashier, she only offered to refund our credit for playing. My daughter wanted the tickets she fairly won. She also said she didn't know where the maitenence guy was and that he was probably busy. For

Walking into this place, makes you feel like you're going into a prison! I get it for safety reasons. They have to take these precautions but the way they go about it is not good. The prices are a little expensive and the prizes and the machines are not worth the time and hassle would only recommend this place if there was no other form of entertainment in your area.

First of the claw machines are rigged. Second off the prices for the arcade games are taking advantage that this place is located in a prominent neighborhood (meaning they're trying to sucker rich people out of their money and are charging way too much for these arcade games). I feel like Bronzewhick zone moved across a few streets and upped their prices due to them owing money to loan sharks. I wasted 60$ in less than 20 minutes. Compared to Dave n busters this place is a joke. I see this place being close

this place literary raised their prices and didn't tell us and did tell us when we checked out ????????????!,2025,5, 3

I love Round 1. It's great here. The token exchange is a little high if you do the math. Other than that, it's a great time. If you just let go and have fun, it's worth the 50 bucks I usually buy. My husband and I come here with our friends and we always have a great time.

Got asked for my ID while playing an arcade game , after I had already got checked by the person in the entrance? unprofessional to interrupt someone playing when they already check ID?s in the entrance at night. Felt uncomfortable there the rest of the night.

Avoid the claw machines. They barely grip anything and each try averages 14 credits. Your money goes quick with no rewards. I read that the claw strength increases with each play. NOT TRUE. Don't waste your time.

I had a work event here, and Felicia was so kind and accommodating!!! When I come back, I'll be hoping that she's here! <3

Took the family here tonight for some bowling. Guy working the desk couldn't put his phone down long enough to actually speak to us. Told me how much I owed him without ever looking up. Every other employee walking around, faces in they phones, everyone smells like pot, and the guys at concession were just absolutely not sanitary. We opted to go elsewhere to eat and not stay longer to bowl. Such a shame... We used to love coming here.

excellent place to be visited by the whole family. Children and adults have a completely different time. this place offers bowling, ping pong tables, billiards. comfortable eating facilities, spectacular game machines, I visited it with my daughters and we had a great time. Good attention from all the staff and affordable price for everyone to be able to play and enjoy hours in this place. I recommend it 100%

Update as of 2025!!! This location has brought on some awesome people and we're happy to say Round 1 is the place to go again. They even made my daughter feel special with a birthday plush that was in a claw machine.

This is probably one of my favorite places to go in the Mall. The atmosphere is surprisingly chill for an Arcade, in the best possible way! The staff is helpful and friendly, even if we have to approach them for a technical issue with the machines! Speaking of, when a machine does have a malfunction; it doesn't take long for a staff member to flag down the appropriate person to fix the issue which is seriously appreciated. Two of the people I enjoy seeing there are Felicia and Seth for sure, they are very

Absolutely amazing services. They were super kind and awesome, and were really understanding when we need a reset with crane. Service were awesome and would absolutely go here again, no question ask

Fun, but most everything is broken or getting repaired. But bowling is fun and worth the price. Plus, 99-cent ice cream is worth the trip!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?
