Customer Reviews

Got to admit this place is pretty cool for an arcade center! Certainly enjoyed the visit here so far!

Staff was decent! An amazing amount of games. A decent bit where slightly over priced but worth the money for the finds and to help a local business. The arcade section was to die for. Pinball and retro arcade machines wall to wall. Felt like I was walking back into the 80's

Good selection of Video Games, both modern and classic. As well as the hardware, and accessories from generations of Gaming to support your hobby or collection. The arcade is a pretty sweet throwback as well.

I really want to love this place as much as I did when I first found it, but the past 2 times I've been there, the games have been pretty rough. Here's a summary of today's visit: First pinball table I went to had a critical issue with the ball getting stuck. No problem, got my tokens back. Second pinball table had an issue where the ball was already stuck somewhere in the game when it began, so nothing showed up by the plunger. Third table went well. Played (or tried to) 5 different arcade games; 2 of the

Really a lot of fun! 3 of us played games for a about an hour for $10 worth of tokens. Had lots of classic games. My favorites were frogger, the Simpsons pinball, mappy, and Tetris :) in the front part of the shop it was a blast from the past browsing thru all of the old Nintendo and PS2 games.

This place is awesome..not only do they have current video games bur they also have retro games as well. In back they have a arcade room with lots of old games that you can play...I thought it was awesome

The arcade here is a great way to kill an hour or two on a day when the weather is less than favorable! $5 in tokens keeps me busy for an hour. A few games could use some cleaning/tune ups, but the whole experience is always lovely. It feels like stepping back into my childhood. The store itself is equally great. They have very reasonable prices on vintage games and I love looking at their selection.

Great arcade with retro games from when I was a kid in the 80s/90s and before. Lots of fun in a small space. The newer used games seemed overpriced, but going through older system's games was like a time warp or museum. In itself, that was fun.

Fun place for classic games! Have some refreshments too at great prices! Love coming here once in a while!

Wow...Didn't know a place like this existed. The "store" part of this place is simply amazing. For someone like me, who grew up in the 90's, this was a very nostalgic experience. They sell tons of games, consoles and accessories, ranging from the 80's through the 2010's. They had old Atari, original NES and Sega consoles and games, as well as newer PS4 equipment and games. So many rare things to see you only thought were available on eBay. The arcade portion is equally as impressive. Again, I think those

I came here because my wife loves pinball. This joint has over 25 pinball machines. It also looks there is over 60 arcade games too. The front part is all home game systems. They have it all here. One stop shopping. There are thousands of game cartridges here. Most arcade games ar 1 token. You exchange money for tokens. Very reasonable to take the kids out.

Bought paperboy, but it didn't work, and we live an hour away, so we couldn't get back logically with work, etc, to return within the strict guidelines. I'm super disappointed. We waited at least 15 minutes for him to find the right key to unlock the case. The arcade/pinball games 1/3 of them ate my coins...

We had a great Time. Make sure to wash your hands in between games lots of touch points but we had fun and affordable afternoon out! Lots of pinball games and vintage machines

Robot City has a great selection of vintage games, pinball machines and newer games. It's a pretty nice and clean environment and you'll definitely end up spending at least 45 minutes - an hour there even if you're planning on taking your younger kids. Be prepared, unfortunately a handful of games will take your tokens and keep them, but it's awesome that they do accept credit and debit cards in exchange for tokens!

One great aspect of this arcade is the variety. Many arcades may focus on retro gaming, or new games, etc. Robot City has a great blend of prototypical arcade games, 80's-90's games, and modern games. Also, they have an absolute ton of pinball machines. If you enjoy playing pinball, this place is a gem because it can sometimes be the case that pinball machines are not the focus of standard arcade games. There is an excellent games shop, as well, very similar to Sound Go Round. They have all sorts of classi

Really, really neat place. The atmosphere models what I feel like an original 80's arcade would really closely. The game store in front has a wide variety of games, consoles, and almost anything one could want. The arcade in the back consists of over 70+ machines with some classic games like Mortal Kombat or Space Invaders. It's a whole different kind of experience, one harder to find in this day and age. For $20, I had about half my tokens left over after playing for an hour and a half. Very worth it.

Had a great time!... this place is a must visit if you are in the area... hell... even if you are not in the area, take a road trip to go play some video games there. Machines like these won't be around forever. Also... they have pretty much every home console ever made other than a vectrex system ( rare holy grail of home consoles ). Awesome place... I'll definitely be going back to get my defender and missile command fix!

This is a video game store with an attached arcade. The arcade features dozens of retro games like Street Fighter, Day of the Dead, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Frogger, and more. The cost to play is typically $0.25 or $0.50 (1 or 2 tokens). There is a token machine that accepts bills up to $20. We put in $10 which gave us 44 tokens ($20 gave 92 tokens). Perhaps most impressive is their pinball machine collection, with about 2 dozen different machines. The only problem is that my friend and I are terrible at

It was fun until a group of kids came up to me and made a sexual comment and then proceeded to push me. When we informed thr workers of this they did not proceed to do anything about it except call the kids over.

A true gem. Tons of classic arcade games for cheap. A massive pinball lineup with some of the best pinball games ever. Store has huge selection of games for all consoles/handhelds. I spent many hours here when living nearby and now I insist on stopping here every time I'm back in town. Do not miss this one!

Place is great. The prices though? You'd almost be better off buying off eBay lol. Worth it for the in person experience to those who like supporting local.

Great place of your looking for retro gaming systems and accessories. They have everything. The arcade however was disappointing. They have lots of arcade machines and pinball but the place is so dark you can't even see the coins slots for the tokens. The pinball machines are poorly maintained with a couple not even level. Because the place is so dark you can't see the ball. The game lighting is not sufficient. Some air conditioning would be welcome also.

Such a cute arcade with lots of pinball machines and other vintage games! Prices range from 25 cents to $1.50 per game

This place was a lot of fun! We got 92 tokens for $20 and three people couldn't manage to use them up. Will be back again!

Great retro vintage games you can play in the arcade, great store front, friendly helpful staff. Fun afternoon.

Great place to spend some time. The arcade is great, and the retail selection is just great.

Had a lot of fun here. You pay for RB tokens instead of by the hour at most places so you can come and go as you please. Wide variety of classic games.

Sells 1980s games. Good place to spend a few hours with the kids for 20.00

Incredible selection of arcade, pinball and retro home games. Reasonable prices and loads of fun. Stop by you won't be disappointed!

The best place ever. I love coming here to play in The arcade or browse the vintage games. The pinball machines and classic cabinet games are awesome. It's also super fun to try to get your name on the high school list. Best arcade and game shop I've ever been to. And not one of the modern casino style stupidly expensive arcades, but a classic fun game centered arcade. It's fun, and a quarter will play most of the games some being a bit more. But compared to places I have been it's a great time and you can

Amazing games and pinball setup. Impressive everything.

Arcade games are typically poorly maintained, often with unresponsive or completely nonfunctional controls, and that's just the ones they didn't shut off. The arcade section is in desperate need of a proper AC system that isn't just a single dinky floor unit. On the shop side, while it can be said the games and consoles are kept in good condition, the prices are consistently ridiculous, even putting eBay scalpers to shame. Frankly, the arcade is most likely the only reason to go here instead of somewher

Love the games and the atmosphere of the arcade. The workers are very nice and knowledgeable. They also have a great selection of older games and consoles. Great place to go if you're looking for a retro arcade atmosphere.

Great place with awesome vintage video games!

I'm not a huge gamer, so the store didn't interest me, but I did enjoy playing the old video games in the back room. It was $10 for almost 50 tokens, and my husband and I had trouble spending them all! This is a really good way to spend an afternoon on a rainy Saturday, and I'm sure we'll be back. Tip: There is hand sanitizer on the wall that you can use on the way out of the arcade. There are a lot of people touching those controls on the machines, and I'm not sure hygiene is of the utmost importance for

Very fun, cheap, and nostalgic! Gave 4 stars because it is very cramped inside.

Fun place. Very hot room.

Just a great time with tons of games for a reasonable price!

Everyone had a blast, there was A/C (this is an update from our last trip here). I played a couple games, but had a massive headache . The lights, noise...it was too much. Everyone else had an amazing time. We live coming here...all the way from Syracuse, NY!

Your money will go far here. For their age, most of the machines are in great shape. They have a few really old pinball machines that are in fine condition. A few games were in rough shape and a few had limited usage. You don't go here for modern games. You go here for nostalgia. Plenty of safe parking and reasonable access to hand sanitizer. It's not the cleanest place, but hey, it's a recreation of an early 80s arcade.

I found the selection of games in the store section as well as in the arcade section to be extremely varied and unique. However, not every machine was working properly, most notably Mario kart arcade and house of the dead 2, both of which were extremely disappointing, and this is really the only reason I can't give it five stars. However, it also contained some extremely old cabinets that were in fine condition, including a first edition pacman, 1974s tank!, and the 1989 polygonal driving simulator Hard dri

The arcade, is dark, without all the neon lights you'd normally find in an arcade. Most machines are 1 token per play, making it easy to play for the day on less than $20. The retro video game store is fair, mostly catering to nintendo, sega, Xbox, and playstation. Had good deals on games, systems and accessories were a little pricey, but overall good value. Call ahead to see what games are up and running, they break down and get repaired very irregularly.

what do I have to say about robot city games.... lets start with the good. the games are of high quality both at the arcade and used games. if you buy a used game from here you can take it home in confidence that it will work. HOWEVER, Quality is not a excuse for rudeness and poor customer service at which they thrive at. I can still remember the first time I came in to the old store in 2012, just like then as you walk in the first thing you will see without a doubt is exactly what you'd expect to see at a

Great retro arcade with a lot of the classics. The arcade is pretty cheap but the store, while having a very wide selection of games and old platforms, is a bit expensive.

Stopped in while dining across the street. The outside caught our eye! This place is HUGE! Tons of games including vintage & rare for sale. Love that they have a vintage / retro arcade in the back. We enjoyed looking around the shop. Very chill & fun vibe here.

This place is awesome, cool old video games

PINBALL!! If you love playing pinball you HAVE to check out Robot City. Dozens of machines from all eras. Classics and soon to be classics. Batman 66 takes me back to my childhood. A ton of fun and a ton of value. A staggeringly vast selection of classic console games and consoles too. Stop thinking and GO!

I'm old school and when my son brought me there. I started reminiscing back in my younger days. Good games, priced right, the two gentlemen behind the count were very polite. Also bought Nintendo switch game for my granddaughter's Christmas present. Thank You gentlemen. I'll becoming back.

Awesome arcade. Classic games, great selection of Pinball. My son and I had a great time. We will be back.

This is the dk oldies of binghamton The prices are not anywhere close to what any other mom and pop shop would charge and the arcade always has a few broken machines. I understand arcades are hard to service but at least unplug them when they are broke!

I drove an hour and a half to check this place out. It's a nice video game store. They have all the classic systems and very reasonable prices too. Now, the arcade area is top-notch ??. Great classic arcades and pinball games like crazy. A++++

I love this place All kinds of pinball games, arcade games, and games and every gaming system you can think of you can buy and take home. No ATM inside so you need cash to get coins for the Arcade.

My wife and I love this place. It's a fun place for a date day. There are lots of classic arcade games and pinball machines.

Best selection of arcade machines in the area

I went specifically to check the arcade out. They did gave a decent selection of titles even if many of them were common. The unfortunate part was alot of the games were either down or had monitor issues that made the experience unplayable. There was enough games working to make the drive worth it but I wouldn't do it again.

This place had a lot of games and if more of the games had been working I would have given it more stars. It was hard to see to use the tokens on some of the games and some games you would put tokens in and nothing would happen. They also don't have rest rooms.

If you are looking for an old school arcade, or looking to unload some video game trade-in's, look no further than Robot City! This gem is nestled at one end of 'antiques row' in Binghamton, and is hard to miss with the flashing lights in their front window. Upon entering you are met with rows of games and display cases that features pretty much every type of video game system, as well as the corresponding accessories and games for each. If you are looking to pick up a vintage system, or browse old games, t

Excellent selection of old video games and pinball. Played for hours and lost track of time.

As an adult female, I had fun reliving my youth through these old school video games and pinball machines. The arcade part itself was dark but eventually you get used to it. And each game was just one quarter! What a deal! They also had a selection of used video games for purchase in the front of the store but I didn't buy any so can't comment on the quality of them. Great way to spend an hour on a rainy or cool day in Binghamton

GO TO SOUND GO ROUND INSTEAD!!!! I went here looking to buy some retro games and play some arcade games. First off they had absolutely nothing I was looking for the entire time I was there they made me feel like I was wasting their time. Not to mention the fact that ? the biggest arcade on the side of the US? he's probably smaller than your bedroom. The employees there seem like they don't want to be there and they're extremely rude. I highly recommend going to sound go round if you are looking to buy any r

Really enjoyed this place. Nostalgic to say the least. Also, wish games were this cheap back in the day. Only wish was Super Pac Man was working. Nothing changes. lol

Great arcade so many games to choose!

The games were in an un alphabetized mess of an order and very hard to look at. Also they dont really have anything good in the store. Arcade loocked cool though.

The kids will beg you to go here. And a quarter is still worth a quarter token at robot city.. and they give u bonus coins if you buy 10$ or 20$.... imagine that rats place

My brother and I visited Robot City in Binghamton NY today. It was about a one-hour drive. It's an incredible store that buys and sells games, peripherals, consoles, etc. They have everything from atari to more current Playstation or X-Box titles. Some of their stock is downright ancient, all in working order and sometimes in its original packaging, and the pricing isn't too crazy. But the real reason we went there? They have this AMAZING arcade filled with retro titles, I wanna say from Asteroids to

A local gem. Going to such a place with an assortment of games and pinball machines. Is rarer than most people realize. The selection of refurbished game systems at the store entrance is very impressive. Also on hand are disk and cartridge games. Light guns, controllers, and other peripherals can be found here. Support local places like Robot City!

Awesome arcade and game shop. Great place to play pinball and classic arcade games.

This place was amazing!! We went for my son's 18th birthday. There were 5 of us and I bought $20 worth of tokens for each of us. After spending close to 3hrs there we all still had about half of our tokens left. That means we are planning another trip up to use the other half of our tokens, we can't wait!! They also have an amazing selection of older games. Stroll down memory lane as they have older systems and games, like the ones we grew up on.

Overall pretty cool place. The games themselves are a little overpriced but not too much and when you consider the buy 3 get 1 free it works out. Just be careful some games are more overpriced than others. There is a great selection of older games especially cartridge games, but the xbox and Playstation selection is a bit thin. That said the real party piece here is the arcade. This place has an awesome coin op arcade! Mostly classic cabinets and the prices were pretty decent. Be aware that the area around

Site very clean a plus. Seeing a full sized video arcade system at the back of the store brings me back in time when I was a kid. Staff very polite. Game systems commodore 128 Nintendo ever model PlayStation and other cool retro systems. I nerded out my kids said. Awesome experience.

Great place and helpful staff. Arcade is fun with 2 of my classic favorites: Time Pilot and Donkey Kong. A few of the games are showing their age, which is understandable for a collection of this size and age.

Awesome awesome awesome place for joystick, pinball and vintage games! Sweet priced vintage game systems and all the cool accessories to go with including the games! This place is a hidden gem for all gamers alike. We will be here more and more! Super affordable and guys who run this place are really nice. Snacks n canned soda for a quick reload! #weloverobotcity!

I'm revising my review from four years ago. The staff are anti social and give the impression that you being there is an inconvenience to them. The prices of their games and old systems are insane. The arcade, which used to be the best part, is now in a state of disrepair. Multiple broken games, and the ones that do work have parts that are in questionable states. I feel like the owners don't want to be in business anymore and stopped caring. It's kinda sad.

I can't say enough good about this place! My son and I spent an afternoon playing classic arcade games and has a blast. The used console games are very reasonably prices as are the arcade games. A whole wall of pinball from classic to more recent offerings. If you enjoy classic games you'll love this place.

Ambience is cool, retro. Mostly old style games with a couple of new ones. Most take only one token. There are no tickets or prizes here so my kids got bored quick. Also the games were way too old for them to enjoy (modern games have spoiled them) but us adults got a nice dose of nostalgia. Big room tons of arcade games. Several games were not functioning properly but overall a decent experience. Friendly staff. Nice bathroom.

This was worth the day trip. Our favorite games like Ms Pac Man, Quebert and many pinball games.

This place is awesome! I love checking out all of the used Nintendo games and gear?it's a total nostalgia-fest. The arcade is excellent too. So many different games to choose from, in addition to the great collection of pinball machines!

Great gem of Binghamton made even better with the best game of all time (Crazy Taxi).

Greatest arcade in New York State! Customer service is not overly joyous or friendly, but also never deny helping you when you ask. Prices are fair and arcade is prices very fair for 2019! Stools for sitting at games. Huge selection, as well as the largest pinball arcade in the state. We go regularly.

Great place. Affordable clean and nice staff. Good selection of used games and systems for lots of generations. Great line of pinball and classic plus newer arcade games. Great way to spend an afternoon. Sad I didn't get here sooner as I've been thinking a out it for a few years. Will be back soon. Thanks

Awesome place. I have driven by many times over the years. My son was begging to visit an arcade and robot city did not disappoint!! It was a blast and a really good deal for tokens. All the games were great! We can't wait to visit again!

I grew up in the 1980's playing video games. I LIVED in the Arcade. Back then they were everywhere and it was great! Fast forward 35 years...Arcades are so hard to find but this place hits it on the head! Just like the 80's games are still only 25?. However pinball is 50? (no biggie). I love this place. They have ALL the 80's classics. When I found this place years ago I was so happy. The arcade is like stepping back in time for me. Only place I can go and after a few minutes feel 13 again! You MUST go h

Overall it's ok. The store is a bit expensive but have some titles you can't find. The staff were very standoff-ish and we're not friendly. Could tell they either hated their job or didn't want to be there. Arcade is unfortunately noticeably not maintained. Too many games and pinballs require more coins then what it says on the sign. Quite a few controllers and buttons don't work. Had a few of the games eat my coins. Police trainer takes your coins and barely registers you shooting and then glitches and res

Great arcade and recycled video game store. Has a lot of authentic and old games. Wish there were more racing games linked together. To be able to race 4 or 6 at a time would be superb!! To be the largest arcade in NY, we need to start a gaming tournament or league. Bring more people in consistently, and to help continue to grow. Some of the older systems (Atari, Nintendo, PS2) are a little pricey, but we understand. Definitely will be going back!!

What can be said about Robot City that hasn't been said already? This is one of the country's biggest and best vintage arcades, with a massive selection of cabinets and pinball games. My kids and my nieces and nephew all loved exploring the old school games, browsing the game shop in the front of the store, and beating me up in Street Fighter. I've heard of people visiting Binghamton just to see Robot City, and visiting there again, I can definitely see why.

Really awesome place to take your kids if your looking to have fun for a low cost. They offer a lot of vintage arcade machines. They also have a great selection of used video games and machines. The only downside is the parking can be an issue do to the location.

The pinball selection is pretty good and the machines are reasonably well-maintained. The video game selection is even better, if that's your thing. The cost of the pins is another issue. It's difficult to stomach paying $1 per play for some of these, especially when they're tuned to lose balls as quickly as possible. The overall cleanliness of the place is good. I've read lots of complaints about the cost of the games for sale here but the prices seem reasonable for retail. If you want to bargain hunt, hi

Went here for the first time on Friday July 1st, had a pretty good experience. Me and my sister played in the arcade , bought some snacks and I ended up buying her a game. When buying the game I saw on the case that the game had ?VR mode included? didn't know if that meant she would have to have the PS4 VR as I'm not familiar with this particular release of the game , I assume since it said ?included? that it was just an extra feature but to be safe , I ask the gentleman working there as well. He said he wa

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
