I would give this place infinite stars if I could. This is truly a jewel of Warrensburg and west central Missouri. The arcade is loads of fun and features many of the vintage games I grew up with. The museum is overflowing with artifacts and treasures ranging from simple consumer electronics to entire collections of toys and games from decades past. And it's all very accessible. They also are excellent at accommodating groups of kids for field trips. I took one of my classes here and it was a lot of f

The kids and I had the best time! I enjoyed looking at all of the toys in the museum. Makes you feel like a kid again. We were there for 2 hours and all of the employees were really great. They set up many games for the kids, showed them all of their trick boxes. There was a movie playing in a theatre type room, that was super cool. We went around 4pm on a Saturday. It wasn't too busy to where we couldn't play any game we wanted. Will come back.

This place is so cool! It's love to go on a little date here. You can play all the old school arcade games, board games, pool, fooseball, air hockey and so much more!! And they have a neat little affordable shop too! We were walking near here recently and decided to stop and take a peek in to kinda see if it was she appropriate for my grandchildren and the very nice gentleman running the front desk invited us in, gave us a personal tour describing the entire place to us and all it's fun surprises. He was so

My (almost) 7 year old and I went for the first time, yesterday. After going, I immediately regretted waiting so long to go check out Reteograde! The tour was AMAZING, the variety of games to play was impressive, and the staff were SO KIND and truly just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. The fact that Retrograde is a non-profit and is so involved in the community is incredible. We will be back!

If you want to experience the most epic level of inner childhood happiness - Come to Retrograde Charitable Toy and Videogame Museum and make the incredible journey into nostalgia!!!! Between the games, collectibles, and arcade, your inner kid will thank you. Best little secret in the Midwest.

Fun place with a great mission! There is a solid variety of arcade games including pinball, racing games, shooting games, frogger, Pac-Man, and so many more. Even the Oregon trail game! Staff were friendly and helpful. The tour was informative and impressive to see the variety of collections. Made for a fun date night in the Burg. Highly recommend!

The most amazing place for kids and adults alike. Thousands of games and memorabilia! Words can't express how amazing this place is

This is definitely in the "hidden gem" category! You can tell the owners have put in 1000s of hours into building this museum and arcade. Not to mention the fact that they've painstakingly restored every one of the arcade machines themselves. $10 admission gets you a tour and endless freeplay on the games. Loved the trip down memory lane - and beating my spouse in fooseball haha. If we ever end up near Warrensburg again, we will definitely be back!

A fun trip down memory lane! My husband played a lot of his favorite arcade games from childhood, while I played Oregon Trail on an old PC for like 45min. It was awesome. The toy museum has layer upon layer of toys from many eras. There's something for everyone! My favorite part was learning about all their charitable efforts. Check it out!

Most amazing place to visit and be able to see not only old games but play them. Also have an the most amazing tour and collection of old movies, games, technology, and also board games. Would definitely go again and again

Love this place so much!!! The nostalgia and just revisiting the joy of childhood was amazing. 10 out of 10 recommend if you love video games and toys of old!!

What a hidden gem! A great, chill spot for kids and adults to have fun and be themselves! Thousands of games to play, both arcade and board, and a killer toy collection to ogle at in their nostalgic museum tour on the 2nd floor! Arcade's $5 for all you can play and the museum's only $2.50 so it's $7.50 for hours worth of enjoyment. Staff is friendly and well-informed, and the whole thing is a charity. Best bang for your buck around these parts.

Possibly the best place in Warrensburg! Especially if you've been itching to beat Time Crisis! The staff is awesome, the game selection is phenomenal, and the price can't be beat.

Awesome place!!! Definitely a must see! Staff is super nice and give you the best information, the collection is incredible and the charitable cause only makes it even better. For those who live or are visiting, don't forget to check on their clubs!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
