Me, my bestie and sister came here after we had lunch at the Brewery, and let me tell you this place is amazing. I absolutely loved the vibes, mead, and games that they had available. We were met by this sweet lady (we never asked her name) but she was so lovely. I asked her for recommendations and she did not disappoint. I even left with a bottle of cinnapede mead! This is a must have for people who have a taste for sweet, cinnamon, and apple! This place absolutely made our day. We were in there for hours
Recently went on Sunday, Drove up 2 hours to visit. The bartender, Beth, was amazing and very attentive considering the place was pretty busy. Just to note we got there not too long after they opened at around 3:30PM so there were a lot of kids in the place playing the retro games that I grew up with as a kid but they did not bother us "grown-ups" at the bar at all. The vibe was very mellow and laid back, which I appreciated! The bar is not very large, but there are a lot of tables and chairs throughout the
Nice family place. Lots of retro arcade games as well as old school consoles. From original NES, to N64, PlayStation, Original Xbox and much more. I've been several times with my family and we enjoy it each time we go! They also have different movies/shows playing daily as well. They have snacks from several local vendors, and while food is not available from Retro Meadery, there are several restaurants within walking distance, and they allow you to bring the food back and eat inside while you game and enj
Retro Meadery is absolutely wonderful! My husband and I went for a visit with our two children during our search for a local meadery to purchase from for our wedding. The kids were more than welcome and more than entertained with all the wonderful retro games. Beth gave us a wonderful tour and tasting to help us decide what flavor was best for us. Mike and Matt, the owners, made sure that we had what we needed even with the awful snow storm that came through. I don't think we could have made a better choice
Such a cool concept for a space! The arcade has so many different games to try and the staff is friendly and excited to share information about the meads on tap. I love that Burgaw now has a spot to hang out with friends in a good environment!
Great Meade with a fun, laid-back atmosphere. Gotta love the 80s! Definitely will return and highly recommend trying it out for yourself.
We stopped by New Year's Eve when it was quite busy and were served in a timely fashion, even with our questions about the different drinks. Loved that this place has some family friendly hours so we can bring our teenager and his friends to play video games - there are so few places to take them out here and this is a welcome addition to the area. Cute place!
An absolutely amazing experience with friendly bartenders, good games, and the Mead is incredible! If you've never tried mead, or even if you have, this is the best place to be!
The mead and tasting room are fantastic! The game selection is amazing and the space is very well utilized.
Super inclusive. The owner and staff were super nice. The mead and beers are awesome. The games are great too. Good value for the price as well.
Love them!! Love the Elderberry best!! See you at the next Viking Festival (TSE)!
I've tried a fair amount of mead from many places. Retro Meadery has the best mead. So many flavors to choose from. Cinnapede is my favorite, so far. There's something for everyone in terms of varying sweetness levels and flavors. I'm looking forward to trying the orange flavor next.
Amazing meads and atmosphere! They have something for every taste and seem to always be working on something new.
Stopped in today and tried a flight of meads... Beth (who poured the mead) was super friendly! Try the traditional or cinnapede!!
This place is mad amazing. Really, they have it all. Can't get enough
I have tried mead made elsewhere in NC and was not a fan. Retro Meadery, however, is delightful!
Wonderful mead, Cinnapede is my favorite. Highly recommend everyone try it!
These guys are bringing something special to the area!
Retro Meadery is such a fun addition to the town of Burgaw. The owners and staff are passionate about the quality of the mead and the taste experience. The variety of the mead flavors and levels of sweetness are appreciated. The ability to hang out and play together as a family or with friends just adds to the unique atmosphere. The decor is indeed retro with great nods to the 80s and its fun style. It's a must see and we enjoy returning frequently.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
