Red Rocket Retro Arcade

Red Rocket Retro Arcade

Reviews Summary

Most reviews praise the arcade for its fun atmosphere, mix of retro and modern games, and affordable pricing, with many visitors planning return trips. However, some criticize high game costs, malfunctioning machines, or misleading expectations about retro game availability. Customer Reviews

Loads of fun and probably the best deal on arcade games in town, and the most like a retro arcade. Mix of old and new games as well as single player, multi player, skill, and luck games, so anyone can have fun.

My husband and I were excited to go here because they had the retro games. The Ms. PAC Man game?s controller doesn't work very well at all and we aren't as good as we remember ?? There are a lot of pinball games to choose from but with only 3 balls per most of them it goes fast when the ball goes straight down the middle A LOT! We ended up leaving and going somewhere else.

Cute lil old fashioned arcade, full of classics and otherwise newer machines. This is NOT a prize arcade(as in, you don't earn points for prizes), so if you're looking for a place to take your kid you might want to keep that in mind. That said, it's still solid fun for those of us who enjoy these games.

Rigged and overpriced. Claws either do not go down, or they do not close. Expensive games that do not work with cheap prizes, which is how most arcades are, but these were simply dissapointing.

Nice to see ton of old arcade game and some innovative new ones. Had a blast checking out some off the most interesting pinball machines i have seen in a long time. Overall a pretty wild and interesting place to visit and spend a few coin :)

This is the arcade for pinball! Lots of claw games, too. Several basketball games. Only one working skeeball. No tickets/prizes for play. Some "old school" arcade games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-man, etc... There was a deal if you loaded the play card they gave you bonus play money. Most games were $1.00 - $1.50. Would go back but needs some maintenance as several games were out of order. If want tickets/prizes and bigger current games go to the Arcadia on Airport road. This one had the best pinbal

This place is fun!! And the guys manning the desk on Sunday at 5:30-6 are so nice and helpful!

What's NOT to love?? Prices felt fair, plenty of bang for your buck, ?? self service which we actually appreciated immensely. Great mixture of modern and old school arcade games.

Excellent, clean arcade with very affordable prices and a nice mixture of games. I will be coming back.

We bought the mini golf, mirror maze, and $10 arcade card combo pass for $15/person because my sons had really wanted to do a mirror maze. It was so fun! The mini golf with this company looked a bit run down from the exterior but it was very fun inside. I wish we had bought the 3D glasses but it was still great without. I was not excited for the maze because it isn't to my taste, but we were all laughing mid way through and for the rest of the day over it. The games were fun and new and in good shape for th

Let's talk about the good first. Great selection of pinball games. I was thankful to be able to play them with my wife. Now let's discuss what I did not agree with or like. I thought overall this is a bad business model. Pinball machines were $1.50 per play, PAC Man,Galaga, and the rest of the retro games were $1.25. This seems like greed to me and unwelcoming for gamers. No one in their life has ever had to pay 4 x?s to play a retro game or pinball. Do you realize if you had to pay one price at $20 you coul

Had a great time in this arcade last weekend with my wife. It felt like an old retro arcade and the atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed the variety of basketball games that they had at this venue (even though my wife kept beating me in connect 4). I will happily come back here in the future!

Kids enjoyed the games - I enjoyed the Pinball. Easy access when you need a break from the heat!

I have never thought I would go to Gatlinburg and play arcades, but I did, and it's good. A little too long though. You can only buy at least $20, $5 is gifted, so total is $25. That's enough for two people to play for 20 minutes.

We loved it! Had a great time. Good variety of games. Social distancing friendly.

Great place! We waited for our table at a restaurant, here playing games. The 7D game was fun, zombie and carnival

Decent selection of pinball machines. If you're looking to just play retro machines, go to the Gatlinburg Pinball Museum. Way better deal, 20$ unlimited play, vs $1 for each "go" at a Pinball machine. All this being said, Red Rocket takes Way Way Better care of their machines than the Pinball Museum. All rubber pieces in the machines were new, and flippers had a lot of life and spring to them. This place is more family and kid oriented than the Pinball Museum.

Excellent place to hang and great pinball line up. They were aware of some issues their games have for an arcade on the strip. I absolutely commend them on how clean and well they played. Other great retro game selections as well!

Was going to the Pinball Museum but it was closed. This arcade was comparable and close by. Pinball machines were great!

They have a few retro arcade games and a few modern games. The retro cabinets are well worn and most work great but a couple are in need of repair to the joysticks. Not a bad place at all but definitely a small arcade.

Fun experience and a wide variety of different arcade games. No games to earn tickets for prizes which added to the appeal. Buy a $20 play card and you get a bonus $10 added to the card. Had a fun time

Amazing place! If you are pinball enthusiast, or anyone else that loves coin-op video games and pinball, this place is for you! All the pinball machines and also the video games are in immaculate condition and service. I played many pins I had never played before, and had an absolute blast. My son loves stand-up shooting games, and he had some super fun ones to choose from. My only minor critique is that some of the classic arcade games were refurbished with new joysticks that were not the same type as

Prices are too high. It's a pretty standard arcade. Pinball games, half didn't work. They are all modern Stern games.

A lot of fun playing the old video games. My son liked "Dig Dug" a lot.

I would have expected more retro games given the name, but they did have a few. We had fun.

Games are decently priced and the place was clean.

Fun little arcade to play in. No tickets or prizes. I would definitely recommend if you dont care about prizes and just want to play games.

Nice variety but cheap upkeep is causing games to suffer, not responsive buttons on tmnt, big buck is broken, sticking flippers on star trek pinball, donkey Kong joystick is a universal replacement and not working alot of the 4 way games have had cheap 8 way bat sticks stuck in the , when I brought it up to the lady work in the front she was dismissive and rude. The entire joystick pulled out of street fighter vs Capcom. I will not be back after spending a good bit here, because you don't realize the stuff

They had all my past time favorites , Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Pinball, ect... $10 played for an hour.. Great Fun, Will do it again next time I'm in Gatlinburg..

Great prices for the games. Good selection. Old and new games. Spent hours there and still have credits left. Will definitely be visiting again!

Had my favorite 80s game - Galaga but by the time I got a playcard, it was out of order! Granddaughters (5, 10, 12) really enjoyed it though.

Fantastic place with lots of choices, one machine took my money but didn't work, the employee fixed it promptly and also gave me a free round for the incovience.inconvenience.. everything works on a card even the tickets, super smooth... I will be bringing the family back

Smaller than I expected. Online makes it seem like they have old arcade games which is misleading because they only have 8 old games. Plus when we were there, only 5 of the 8 were working.

It says it opens at 10 am. Standing here with 3 kids and 90.00 worth of ticket purchaces and cant use them. Its sad to get their hopes up and no one to open the place.

Don't waste your money! Half of the games quit working after you start playing. This happened on every game we tried to play.

One of the best priced and varieties arcades I've ever been too

My kids loved it and had fun. Lots of variety with games.

Had a blast playing old games from my youth and the VR games of today....it was awesome ??

Not a whole lot of retro stuff. It's mostly like every other arcade on the strip.

Super fun, great clean very well maintained games

Awesome classic cabinets, and pinball machines. Love the gauntlet, and classic Mario bros cabinets.

Pinball is awesome. There is also a street fighter 2 cabinet!

Cool place but hours online are not correct. They close at 10 pm not midnight.

All day oass is amazing price for the games provided.

My son loved this place. Plenty of options to spend some time.

Fun place to stop if it starts to rain like it did on us

Unfriendly Staff, several machines didn't work correctly.

Good selection!! Little dirt needed little TLC overall good experience!

Fun arcade! Good prices on games.

Awesome arcade with the vintage games and pinball!

Awesome pinball machines

Fun time...reasonable pricing on games

Had a great time playing retro pinball

Way too much too do, awesome

Got the top 2 high scores on digdug

We had a great time ??

Great older arcade games

(Translated by Google) I really enjoyed the place with my family, the games are up to date, the place is organized and clean. (Original) Disfrute mucho del lugar con mi familia, los juegos son actualizados, el lugar es organizado y limpio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
