Customer Reviews

If you want some unique takes on tater tots and burgers with pinball and video games galore, this is your spot. Tacos, sliders, and other fun foods are done very well. I love pinball, and this place is a haven for pinball junkies. There's some awesome specialty drinks and draft beers available. Great place for get togethers and celebrating. There is outdoor seating available as well.

Looks can be deceiving. Poorly lit from the outside not really inviting at a glance. Exactly what it should be inside - a really great time. Staff from entrance to exit were friendly and helpful. Place was packed on a Sunday evening, mostly couples and families, some kids. Tons of space for eating. So many games that you don't really have to wait long to get something you want or to go to another choice. All the 80's and 90's classics and the standard skill games. Would be great for an afternoon or evening

Great place to have some fun, old school pinball machines and arcade games with pretty good food and cold drinks. Would definitely go again!!

Recbar is a great place to go if you want to play some old school arcade machines and pinball. There are as many pinball machines as actual arcade machines, so definitely a place to visit if you love pinball. Recbar even has tournaments and/or leagues. They also have one of my favorite games, Ice Cold Beer! I mean an actually game, not actual beer but they do have that as well lol. The food is good, I really enjoyed the burger I got. Service is very good and quick. Pro tip, they have a token machine bu

The food was okay, about what you would expect from an elevated bar menu. The dish names are original. But we didn't come for 5 star food. We came for the tons of pinball games. The service was good and the drinks were poured stiff.

Staff was very pleasant. Our server took care of our table of 18 with ease. I noticed most people were not eating the tots. They are on the sweet side which we found odd. We would suggest leaving the sweet seasoning off. The fish sandwich was good.

First thing? Tater tots! They are the best tots I have had! They are crispy and nicely seasoned. They have awesome burgers too. The Pickle Rec burger was yummy! That and an order of Totchos were enough food to share with another person and be full! On top of all that many arcade games to play, pinball, etc and they have a completely open bar! Cool spot!

Food was just a bit too salty for me as I've been cutting back, but oh so good! Drinks were great and the service was superb. Atmosphere was a little noisy, but that's how an arcade is supposed to be. A great selection of old and new pinball machines in good condition. (I had been hoping to play the new Rick&Morty machine.) Loved every minute of it. I regret that I was only passing through.

Went for lunch on a Sunday. The food was hot and fresh and the service was friendly. Facility was clean and nearly all the games were in great working order. Was a lot of fun with the kiddos, looking forward to going on a date night!

Wonderful eatery burgers adult beverage and all the games for kiddos ??

Food and service was great! I highly recommend the southern pork tacos. Tater tots were possibly the best I've ever had. Start with the pretzel bites and beer cheese! The games are awesome. The most pinball machines I've ever seen in one location. Most games are old school arcades, so geared more towards adults/older kids, but even our youngsters had a blast. Great way to spend a couple hours!

Wonderful food, server was great, nice day outside. Love the patio option. ??

Loved the food! It was AMAZING! My family was served by Makayla M, She was amazing, daughter asked if they did anything for birthdays (for dad) and makayla said no, but I can sing! After awhile we ate then Makayla comes over and starts singing! HOW SWEET! She really went out of her way to make the kids and myself happy ! We were way too excited to eat so I forgot to take pictures of that ! But check out all the games! Makayla really went out of her way to make both kids happy and if she reads this she def

Great vibes, great food, great cocktails (reasonably priced, even!). The chicken tenders are MASSIVE. Also, a whole order of totchos is too much for one person, unless you're very hungry and haven't eaten anything else in a while. I recommend air frying leftover totchos if you have them. Most of the games are two tokens (50?). It does help if you bring cash to exchange for tokens, though there is an ATM. I highly recommend Joust if you're there with friends, since it's pinball but for two players. The onl

Food is DELICIOUS! The ABSOLUTE BEST LOADED TOTS (?Totchos?)!!!!!! I had mine all vegetarian (peppers & onions, queso, green onion/scallions, sour cream) and they were STILL DELICIOUS! Same for the Mac and Cheese (white cheddar)! Some of the best Mac I've ever had! For dessert I had the ?Pressed PB&J? which is a Grape PB&J waffle style. I added the ?King Style? which puts slices bananas (and/or bacon) between the waffles for extra substance and flavor! ALL DELICIOUS! I made some modifications to my food-

Cool little spot to come check out but like most places of this nature the entertainment value runs out fairly quickly. Half of the old-style pinball machines workwell but if you pay close attention you'll be able to get a free game out of most of them. The food is pretty good. Only disappointment was the price of my wife's side salad. It was too much for essentially a coffee cup size worth of greens. My chicken had food flavor and I would have that again. It is worth checking out for a lazy day

The boneless chicken wings I had were exceptionally dry, perhaps the driest I have ever experienced. Upon taking a bite, the sensation was akin to tasting the Sahara desert. The buffalo wings were particularly disappointing, as they were remarkably sauce-free.

This place has a great vibe. The food is amazing, the service is great, and man....all the video games and pinball machines you can imagine. The tater tots have a really good seasoning and the flavor is amazing. The beer selection is great, you'll definitely find something you'll like.

Fun and relaxed environment that is good for friends and kids alike. On the weekends expect a hour wait or so. Kid like influences on common American food like Frosted Flakes chicken strips and ice cream rolled in Fruit Pebbles. They have great loaded tater tots and beer mac and cheese. The only thing that didn't live up to the hype is the burger patties themselves, they don't have a good flavor but thankfully it was drenched in beer cheese.

This was our first time here, was recommended by a friend on the area and we were so happy to check it out! The menu is interesting and there's something for everyone from tacos to burgers and chicken sandwiches and their famous loaded tots with many flavor options to choose from. The games were plentiful! So many games lined the walls of this large facility unfortunately we didn't have the time to stick around and play but we are already planned a date night here even though it's a 45 min drive from home.

Excellent! Highly recommend! Amazing food, tons of pinball machines and vintage arcade, fun time for a family! We will be back Zeb and his team are awesome!!

We have been to Rec Bar many times so when family from out of town were visiting, we thought this would be a fun place to go after a baseball game on a Wednesday evening. When we went in, the "hostess" was not very pleasant and never greeted us. She simply asked if we wanted a table, which I thought was a little weird. I told her we had a party of 11 and she said she would have to put us on the waitlist. I asked how long it would be and she said she didn't know, but we were the 1st people on the list. It wa

We spent 20$ and my son and I played games for nearly 3 hours. We had an absolute blast, the atmosphere is both kid and adult friendly and the food is great! We continue to tetu3n and have our family nights.

The wait is always so long to get in to this place. Our party which I know is large at 13 people always waits like an hour or more to be seated. Even though party?s of 5 an 6 come in a get seated right away. I understand everyone is doing their best but come on don't forget about your large groups!!!! Now as for customer service once we are seated it rocks. We have never had bad wait staff or any issues with our food or orders. They always go above an beyond. This last trip I wish I got the girls name but s

If you're into pinball, then this is your haven. Pinball machines for miles! Grab a beer and go for the high score! Plumber rolls are awesome and the totchos are delicious.

The food and drinks are good. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is really cool. They have a lot of old school arcade games and pinball machines from the 80's and 90's like Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, Gauntlet, Pac-Man, Contra and others.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. So many pinball machines, all in amazing shape. Incredible drink selection. Burger was fantastic. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait for my next Louisville trip to go back! Impossible to recommend this place enough.

Food was phenomenal and ample. Aly made the best drink I think I've ever had (the Doughball?). Fun classic games to play too. Had a great time

This place is larger than I expected. Four areas with plenty of arcade games to entertain you throughout the night. It was fairly busy on the Friday night that I went and my group had no issues playing any games that we wanted or getting service at the bar. Most games I played were between 25 cents and one dollar. You can get triple the play for only double the price on many of the pinball machines. $20 in tokens was plenty to last for hours between two people playing casually. I did not try any of the fo

Went to the right bar to play all the variety of games they have from arcade, basketball, air hockey, driving, and ultimately and the pinball machines. They have awesome old school games, and some of the best recent games that came out. The bathrooms are nicely well-maintained. And then there is an outside smoking section.

A Restaurant concept that is genius!! 80's video games, nostalgic atmosphere, sinfully delicious food, and the tots...OMG!!!! The tots are AMAZING!!!! Recbar had everything to make me feel like a little kid again. Was my first time there but definitely won't be my last!!!!

Our first time at the Recbar. We had my girlfriend's son's birthday dinner here and had an awesome time. We ordered 3 appetizers. The pretzel bites w/ melted cheese were great! The burgers and tacos for entrees didn't disappoint either. And of course, the best part of this place is the amazing selection of retro video games and pinball machines. Take your family or take a date and have a great time at the Recbar!!!!

2 stars for the ambience and the service. I specifically did not like the food, food was cold when it was out. Ordered BLT it was way too sweet and i couldnt finish, chicken rolls were tasted as if they were frozen. May be i could have tried burgers as they looked pretty good, will probably give a try next time.

This place was pretty cool! I had the plumber rolls (which were DELICIOUS!) Then the sweet and spicey chicken sandwich. It was okay, just not my cup of tea. Then the tots tasted like bbq flavored chips. I also had the Sonic cocktail, which tasted more like a blueberry bubbly soda than anything (which is great for me! Hahaha) My friend got the "Mac me feel Gouda" which was pretty good. There were quite a lot of games, that i really loved! The service was great and really nice!

What a fun place. Food was very good and service was good also. I had the bbq tator tots platter which was AMAZING and really enough for 2 people. We also had the philly steak tacos and boneless wings and they were very good also, but hands down the tots were the best!! Also have about 40 pinball machines and another room of old games like pacman, offroad, and skeeball. Would definitely go back!

We loved the decor and the environment, our first thought was how small the place is including parking lot. They could definitely use a larger facility for how packed it was. This is one of the few bars in the area, after 10pm I believe you have to be 21 to enter. Our server wasn't very attentive, it seemed she was working to many tables but she was friendly. The food was relatively good, however in my opinion there was way to much cheese on the Grilled Mac it was almost like they poured beer cheese on

Retro arcade with food and drinks. Fantastic place to spend a few hours. Large draft beer and liquor selection. Huge pinball room. Absolutely will come again.

This place is absolutely amazing everyone must try it pinball machines arcade games you have to try this place the food is amazing oh my goodness one of the best places I have been in my entire life. The kids love it so do the adults even if you don't like pinballs it's a great place 2 eat and play.

Food was awesome, fun time! Awesome games! Great for kids and kids at heart! I gave it 4 only because the service wasnt the best and it was a little too pricey for the quality of the food! But all in all great experience!

After the rift opened things got insane but we all knew nobody was coming for rescue so we did what we had to.... Asked the broccoli spiders for the Sunday trivia answers which im turn would grant INCREDIBLE POWER over the dominion of honey mustard suit slacks (no suspenders)

Fun, fun fun! We go at least twice a month and just play all types of video games. Takes me back to my childhood. We spend hours playing, and then we eat and play again.

Large selection of pinball. Quite a few newer arcade type games, but not many classic games. Tons of interesting food selections. All games take tokens, so expect to spend 50c to $1 on most pinball games.

Kids love going but last time we had to wait to be seated when the dining room was maybe 1/4 full and the bar staff seemed disinterested in whether we were there or not. Recommend skipping for other arcade bar options.

Cool place, plenty of pinball machines, and plenty of games to pick from. Sucks that the machines use a good amount of coins but it's a good place to try once

Awesome place. First time, we just went for the drinks and arcade games and had a blast. Just visited again recently for dinner and their food is amazing as well!

1st time going to Recbar. The plumber rolls were really good. Food was pretty good and my husband was excited they served tator tots, which we nice and crispy the way he likes them. I got the breakfast burger and it was dark good and served on a waffle. Loved all the pinball games they had to choice from to play. My husband was most excited about the TMNT game even thought he had to wait a couple times to play.

The Recbar had great food and awesome pinball machines. The staff there was very helpful and seemed to care about their customers. One example was my boyfriend spent a dollar in one of the pinball machines which did not work and he was refunded immediately.

What an awesome place! It's like walking I to an arcade, but the food is so much better. I got a burger with BBQ and cole slaw. It was the best burger I've ever had. My boyfriend got the grilled Mac and cheese with pork BBQ added. It was equally amazing. Their sandwiches come with tots that have some kind of delicious seasoning on top. As for the games, there are tons to choose from, and most for just a quarter or two. This is a great place for a fund date night!

Fantastic food, games, and atmosphere. Great for a casual lunch or an evening birthday party. Kid-friendly but not swarming with them.

Love the Rec Bar! Tots are fantastic and had fried pickles last time we were there. My girlfriends and I are eating our way through the menu!

Delicious food, great waitress. The grouper tacos were insane!! We also had these lil pepperoni eggroll type things. Can't remember the name but I enjoyed them.

Always have a good time here after restaurant hours, but brought the kids for their first time for dinner and games and they had a blast! When we first arrived we had one employee (young hostess) that didn't seem too thrilled we were a party of ten (possible miscommunication?), or that my kids were acting like...kids...but our server was great and the other host was cordial. Food was delicious, and we all had a great time!

The food here is AMAZING and the staff is also great. Only problem I had was some of the machines were out of order but had no sign to say so. Ended up losing alot of tokens. Other than that it's a 5 star place

Fun atmosphere! Lots of pin ball and arcade games. Great place to feel like a kid again. We really enjoyed the food as well. Awesome burgers! Will definitely visit again.

Fun atmosphere!! Great for kids and adults! Friendly staff! Amazing food! Definitely recommend the fried bread and butter pickles!!

The drinks were fairly priced. I ordered the pretzel bites and the cheese sauce with it was this curdled amalgamation. It just tasted bad. There was no check back on the food either and it was a slow environment. Otherwise the staff was friendly.

First and foremost: Don't go when they are having a tournament! A few customers got really rude, that were playing in the pinball tournament. The machines are packed so close together that they touch and a few rude players complained to me that my play was wiggling their machine. Well I can't help that bitc$&es! So I took that as don't come here during tournaments. If the owners cared, they either wouldn't have the machine backs touching each other, or they'd remind participants that the universe does not

Awesome bar with retro and new machines. Captures the essence of arcades gone by. All without overpowering you with lights, sound, and gambling machines. Great food and a fantastic staff. This is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Will come again the next time I'm in Louisville.

Always such a fun place to visit. We seem to always have a stash of tokens leftover somehow. Take advantage of the Photo Booth. It's fun!

A unique and refreshing flashback to 1985. Recbar is one of the few places you can still go and spend 25 cents to play video games/ pinball. Even if a few of the machines ate our quarters, the authenticity of Recbar made up for it. We didn't try the food, just did a quick walk through and played some games but liked what we saw and will be back for the full drinks, dinner and games experience!

Recbar was great! The food is very affordable and very good the service was excellent! It is very very clean and they take every precaution necessary to be safe during covid-19. I purposely went on a low traffic day and time during the day to see what it was like. It's like a blast from the past 80s style! There is magnificent art on the wall done in graffiti style with lots of 80s Video Game and movie memorabilia! The location in New Albany and the location in J-Town are both equally awesome! Highly recomm

Love the pinball machines! The food is good also, great family entertainment that doesn't break the bank. My last visit was for a birthday party in the private space, it was great.

Awesome food and service. I got the breakfast burger: bacon cheeseburger waffle sandwich with seasoned tater tots. YUMMY. Pic is appetizer: pulled pork tots.

Last stop of Burger Week and it was the best! The Mac Me Feel Gouda burger is amazing! White queso mac&cheese, slice of gouda, and the burger was flavored so well. We also got the loaded tots and they are divine!

Seems like a cool spot for games and fun at night. Came here for lunch - average food, but service was good and atmosphere was really cool.

We always enjoy this retro style arcade family friendly. Party fun time kinda place. With almost everything you could think of for older style arcade games. Great food and Totchos. A spin on nachos all kinds of different ways. Our favorite it the pulled pork style. Pinball video games skee ball you name it its here. Enjoy !!!

They need to state somewhere that on Fridays&Saturdays they are +21 only after 10pm and need id's to get it even though we walked in at 1005 and there were children 10 and under in there playing games because they were there before 10pm. Very disappointing when you come from the nulu area.

Total great place to eat, get a drink full bar, play games and pinball. Kid friendly and adults acting like kids friendly.

Been here several times and it's just so fun! The machines are reasonably priced, so you don't blow your money in two seconds, the atmosphere is fun for adults and pretty family friendly, and the staff have always been nice! There was one bartender (possibly manager?) who's usually walking around and cleaning who was a bit snippy once, but it wasn't anything awful or upsetting. It wasn't expected and kind of came out of left field so that wasn't great, but he was probably just busy or stressed. I've seen hi

A handful of broken games that just took my money. The wait was crazy, they were very busy, we were overcharged on our bill but I don't feel like waiting half an hr to have it fixed.

Great customer service, amazing atmosphere, fun games and just an all-around excellent time anytime!

Great food in a relaxing setting. Beer and drink menu is also large and has a lot of local beers. It can be loud at times, but what else would you expect surrounded by 100s of old arcade games. From pinball and house of the dead to Pacman.. Updated to beer draft menu isn't great (multiple of the same kind, not a lot of variety) and the food is mediocre at best. Atmosphere is great and the games are good!

This place was so cool! They have all kinds of pinball machines and retro arcade cabinets. The food is amazing and all the custom art on the walls added a very nice touch. Worth a visit if you're into video games and alcohol.

This place is so unprofessional, they over serve alcohol to people practically sleeping in booths and as long as they are making money they don't care what's going on. Unsafe environment and full drama from staff cussing out people to leave that bring it to their attention. Will never return and hope the proper authorities look into to this.

Had the loaded tots side ! Tasty - for tots ! Fun place ! Video games to play with friends & family ! Spacious place !

Amazing place with some amazing games. Did not try the food but I hear its pretty good! Only a couple games had issues and I was compensated for them.

This place is pretty amazing. Great burbon selection. Food is mostly fried or burgers but hey it's a bar. Really though, you come here for the pinball machines. What a collection they have too. Probably 30 machines from Adam's family, pin bot, jack bot, theater magic etc. If you grew up playing pinball this will be a nostalgic kick in the pants.

I just moved into this area, and yesterday I went to this bar for a charity event. I was beyond impressed with the service and staff, and my geek heart was thrilled by the amount of games available to play. The pricing for games was pretty standard, so no complaints there. I can't speak much about the food as I only ate the buffet style appetizers that were setup. The drinks were great though. I'll definitely be back for a regular night to enjoy this place. Well done!

Awesome atmosphere and games some of the machines eat your coins and dont give your credit...someone in the kitchen cant cook..food is always cold and overly battered and BURNT! Nice presentation "looks good" but both times I came shrimp tacos "Boomshakalaka" was so hard and heavily battered and old tasting to the point that the shrimp was like hard plastic tortilla was stiff and cold . Came again my daughters boneless chicken was battered so thick and hard BURNT and it was cold with bbq sauce "poured" not

We had such a fun time here at Recbar! Visiting from out of town and decided to search for barcades in the area. This was the first thing that came up and we were instantly sold! There are SO MANY pinball machines to choose from, and they are all super well maintained. Amount of tokens to play them does vary, but all worth it in my opinion. Also so many arcade cabinets and other games like skeeball and boxing. We didn't get to try the food or drinks, but the menu features totchos (tater tot nachos) that loo

Recbar is a lot of fun if you like playing arcade games for the sake of playing the games. They don't do tickets or prizes, but the games they have are great. The food is really good, too; my favorites are the Plumber Rolls and the totchos. The drinks are typical bar prices, so I usually skip them, but my friends who get them say that they're really good. I wouldn't come here just for food, but to play some games and then get something tasty to eat, it's the perfect place.

Great selection of games, food was pretty good, but the servers have to many tables and not in sections, they would have tables all over the restaurant and other servers would have tables right beside ours, they couldn't keep us in drinks and were rushed.

Porky's Totchos. Enough said. Simply amazing. Self described as "an eclectic range of comfort eats, craft beer, plus games". Inside you will find a large assortment of arcade games and well-stocked bar. You'll typically find a 1980s classic playing on the TV. Outside they have a really nice patio area as well.

After hearing good things about Recbar, I decided to finally try it out. When we got there it wasn't clear if it was table or bar service as there was no sign at the entrance and nobody greeted us. We assumed it was bar service, so we ordered drinks at the bar and asked if we should order food there too and the bartender said yes. We put our food order in and went to a table. Once we sat down there appeared to be waitstaff taking orders and delivering food but nobody ever checked on us. After 45 minutes, we

Food is soo good - even the tropical red bull energy drink ;) definitely making a plan to come back sometime

Stellar bar restaurant and game room. There is nothing like this in Louisville. Having spent an evening here enjoying craft beer, excellent food and a wide variety of games I have nothing but excellent praise for this establishment. The food is not what you are expecting... Instead they serve fantastic food with a four star chef. I will be recommending this spot for business outings. Additionally this is a great "first date" spot according to bar tenders. Not surprised. The games are varied and that's a goo

Fantastic. Wings were awesome had a sweet flavor really good dry rub. We both got the Brekfast burger. Served on waffles with fried egg cheddar cheese bacon. That was delicious. They have cold beer and lots of old school arcade games. Very cheap to play, several as low as a quarter like it was 35 years ago. Staff were nice and c friendly. Seemed to be almost too much staff there. But great place to have a lil fun and eat good food

Great fun! Had a really good burger and tater totes! There was enough pinball machines to play a different one for a full hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?
