Fun arcade with mostly pinball machines. The bar has a decent food selection such as pizza, salads, wraps, chicken strips, corn dog bites, and subs. They also have a few themed drinks to purchase on the arcade floor. I would like to see actual drink holders for the pinball machines at least. There were limited places to set your drinks throughout the arcade, and they were typically not within direct view while playing. It gets harder to keep track of and watch your drink if it's moderately busy.
Quarterworld Arcade is an absolute blast! If you love pinball, retro games, and a bit of quirky fun, this place delivers. The pinball machine selection is top-notch?tons of variety and all well-maintained. I also had a great time at the claw machine (won some Smuttons!) and exploring all the old-school arcade cabinets. The retro vibe is strong, and it's clear the staff really care about keeping everything running smoothly. Perfect spot for a fun night out or some nostalgic gaming. Highly recommend!
It's all about what you expect ? it's a nice place with a bit of charm, but not much more. The app payment makes things easy and smooth. The games are fun and different, but mostly feel like they're from the 90s. It's okay ;)
Always a great time here on Wednesdays for Quarter Night! It's become a regular spot for me. I'm always inviting friends to come with me. Drinks are consistently good, food hits the spot, and the staff is always friendly and fairly quick. Part of me wishes they'd do an all-ages Quarter Day, because my kids would absolutely love it. But honestly? it's also kind of nice to enjoy a kid-free night out! Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man restrooms- women?s has two stalls, unsure of the dudes. There are two bars inside, t
Summer pass is such a good pickup! Great place for pinball, new and old! Air hockey, hoops and old arcade games. A great time.
Their burgers are great and they have a fantastic atmosphere. Husband says the mozzarella sticks are the best he's had. Lots of fun games, just a blast to hang at with friends and get a drink on a Saturday night. Will recommend. A little loud, but that's how ya know it's fun
If you like ?Barcades? then this is the spot for you. Very reasonable prices on games. They also have a large variety: pinball, basketball, air hockey, fighting games, racing games, a dance game, gambling machines (for the adults) and many more! The beer selection isn't vast but they always have some tasty options to choose from as well as fun cocktails. The smash burger is actually one of my favorite things in life! If they were only a restaurant and sold JUST that, I would still keep coming back? it's tha
This place has pretty much everything. I like how it's more for adults and kids have restricted hours. Wednesdays there are awesome, quarter play on most games. The pinball selection is wicked, and they also have the normal arcade classics, as well as DDR Name it, they have it. They have a whole longue if you need a place to sit between games and get away from people. As a tip for the people who don't drink alcohol - order a bottled soda, as the fountain drinks they have aren't good (no syrup all carbonated
TL,DR - Go here if you like lots of games and good food/drinks. Being a regular here for YEARS now, I'm a little surprised I haven't done this sooner but I just want to say how much I really enjoy this place. Especially love this place during Halloween time!! Here's just some examples as to why I keep returning: ? Drinks are great and well priced ? Food is delicious. Recommend the pizza! ? St?ff are lovely and always welcoming ? Vibes are immaculate, unless you-yourself are a sore loser in games or just a
SE PDX/East side of Willamette has some top notch event spots. I've been meaning to go here for some time but didn't find the time until yesterday. As of 3.6.24, games are 25 cent per game when using payrange (an app) on Wednesday nights (check their website for other promos in case this changes in the future). The only downside is that not all games are compatible with payrange but a decent amount are. Pinball is fun once you get the handles. The only frustrating part, which is out of my and their control
This is an insanely cool and pretty big arcade. We went there for a pre-show and got pretty loaded. They got strong drinks. Lots of beer $20 lasted like over an hour. Playing arcade games constantly. We love this place and can't wait to go back. It is so fun!
This is a really cool barcade. They have a solid selection of games without overwhelming you. (I especially love that they have SoulCalibur II.) The place is pretty spacious, especially considering the area. They also have a cool karaoke section. Went here once with my partner and I've been wanting to come back here and have some more fun.
While yes you can come here with your kids before 7pm, as an adult, the real joy is when the adults get to be the kids and run wild. So many great games, great prices for the games, great beer, wine, cocktails...the food looked great. The STAFF was so helpful even when it was fully slammed on a Saturday night. If you love pinball like myself then this place is perfect. The payment system might get a few people if you don't charge your phone or smartwatch because they use an app instead of a card and you use
cute place, tho i have had quite a few machines eat quarters :/ It's unfortunately usually on the multiplayer ones too which is a bit more annoying. food smacks tho and its a gem for sure
I don't like leaving 1-star reviews, but the bad parts of my experience simply outweighed any of the good. The staff service is good and the bartenders are super friendly, I'll eagerly give them that credit. Unfortunately, after two visits, the number of machines that didn't work, had hardware problems, or outright stole my money has overwhelmed any upsides. We just went back today, started on the South Park pinball game, and the ball got stuck within 5 seconds. The bartender was quick to get my money back
This is such a sad review for me, I had a great night. The place is fun, lively and staff is pretty nice. Drinks were good, French fries were good, mozzarella sticks were Ok. Had some faint fishy flavor, nothing off putting. Overall I left having a good day. But now, I have food poisoning. Been suffering for 2 days now.
Getting quarters here was a hassle and far from intuitive, which made the experience frustrating from the start. The arcade games were decent overall, but the boxing game was a huge disappointment?the bag was too loose and squishy, making it impossible to get anywhere near our regular scores. On top of that, all the games started at $1 per play, which is the highest arcade pricing we've seen. Definitely not the best value for an arcade experience.
Unique pdx arcade. Adult room, classic arcade and fun beverages. Very Portland.
Nice sized barcade with a decent selection. They had me at Star wars trilogy, even if it wasn't a sit down. Found the Marvel vs Capcom, again v.1 not v.2, but I'll never pass up a good opportunity to berserker barrage. Didn't DL the app, spent most of my $20.
This place is great! Definitely worth checking out. Pros: -Awesome location right on SE Hawthorne. Perfect for old Portland locals as well as visitors and transplants! -Super awesome vibe. Just a fun place where it's impossible to imagine having a bad time -They serve food. The food is good. A+ arcade food. Recommend, especially the fries. -It's cheap! $2 cover and most games are $0.50-0.75. You can spend an hour there for under $10, even less if you're skilled. Great value. Cons: -They serve alcohol (thi
Hands down COOLEST adult arcade I've ever been to!! The menu is awesome and the games are of a great variety! There's tournaments and a tourney room! Great variety of drinks and good prices too. Definitely going back!
This place is pretty lame. Most of the arcades are broken. They have one vr its broken.and if you want to play it when it's working you have to pay 3$ a a play. And to get in you have to pay 2$ entry fee and they even had the nerve on your receipt to ask for a tip, are you kidding me. This place is an absolute joke. Ground control is way better. And most of their CRT's for thr old arcades don't have a very good monitors. Pretty sad place will never return.
Great for games. $2 cover fee. Pinball games were around $0.50 per game. Very reasonable overall.
Games are all in very good condition play very well. Highly recommend this place
Portland has a ton of good arcades, even some great ones, and this is at the bottom of the pack. It's not enough to have a decent selection of games when that can be had elsewhere with better selection and/or better pricing. The food and drink are mediocre and overpriced, with an incredibly long line to get service on busy nights (staff up), which crowds the okay area of there are more than even three people queued. Ground Kontrol has a better selection, better pricing, better layout, better drinks. Wunde
Cool place. Use to paying a flat fee to play all you want. You have to pay to enter ($1 during the week 3-6, then $3 after 6 not sure about the weekends) and then pay to play. Very good selection there are many more Games than what I posted at least 40 to 50 more. If you are in the area it's great to kill time or hang all day. Good happy hour deals too.
There are so many pinball tables! They are all in great condition, only 1 went down while I was there tonight. Prices are reasonable. I would appreciate it if I could actually hear the pinball table I'm playing though.
Loved the whole place! The giant screen game was awesome. I also like finding finding the somewhat hidden pinball games that were across the hallway. Find the sloped walkway on the right and head down to find more pinball machine that have a spooky theme.
A very nice arcade with cool ideas. There is a bar in every room, and a different feel for each one. The major room has several new and old arcade games ready to play. They also had a tesla coil show which can play as you play. The lounge has a smaller selection, but nicer tables. They play cartoons on a movie screen as glow in the dark pictures surround you. A great place to relax and hang out. Possibly trade info with time travelers. The game selection is great, and quarterworld has the cool high tech g
After living in the Portland metro area for over 16 years I had somehow never had the pleasure of going to this very fun spot until my husband's company holiday party a few weeks back. I was missing out! There's a large variety of pinball, classic and new cabinet games, and interactive fun to be had - like dance dance revolution. I loved the vibe, and being able to bounce around between rooms was good too.
Went here last night and got a slice of pizza and there was hair in it and when I told the bartender, he just grabbed the hair out of my hand & threw the pizza away and moved on with his night. No sorry or anything.
Fun experience with great drinks, and old school pinball machines. Decent bar food not a lot to choose from. The drinks, games and environment are what I would go back for.
Definitely more kid oriented than what I expected. The vibe was nice and it's a cozy spots for you to bring your kids. The ATM only gives you 20?s. They do have a pretty decent sized variety of alcoholic drinks, if that's your vibe.
Update Oct 2022 - bring cash, atm with fee available. It's a lot of fun kids, adults all alike. Food and drinks are available. Somewhat miss leading as all the machines cost 50c 75c and $1 for 1 game credit even all the pinball machines cost 50c and 75c ??
Great place to beat the heat! $2 entry. 21+ after 7pm. Friendly staff, great machines that are well maintained. Lots of hand sanitizer stations and super clean place Love it!
Best place in Portland to kick back with friends and game the night away. 90+ arcades and pinball old and new from Mrs Pac-Man to Rick and Morty pinball. Two full bars with a decent food menu. Awesome staff! Parking can get a bit tight.
A very good place to distract yourself
Great place to grab drinks, hang out and game. The chicken burger I had was bigger than I expected and delicious.
Awesome arcade location with epic pinball lineup. Prices were reasonable and games played great.
Lots of cool games and a bar to get that groove on plus the tesla coil is really awesome!
Always a fun time, Wednesday is my go to day.. 25 cent games through the app, some game themed drinks, and chicken tendies. I'm all set for a good night??
Really good selection of newer and classic pinball games. $.50 & $.75 per play kinda $$$. Some machines don't register your coins and some of the classic Arcade games have button/joystick issues and should be cheaper to play. I didn't see the Tesla coil in action so I'll go back to see that.
Put a quarter in at the city fair. Didn't work. Nobody here to help. Great business, just stealing money. Super.
Full of old fun! Plenty of games to keep you occupied for hours. You can use the payrange app to pay for all of the machines which is really great. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting. There was also a bar. No minors after 8pm normally.
This place is absolutely amazing. It has a great vibe. The thought behind having a place to put your drink next to every game is a great one. I'm an avid fan of pinball and play competitively. I came to check out Total Nuclear Annihilation since this is one of the few places that have it. The game was off the hook. Having played at MANY arcades and barcades I can tell you with 100% confidence that their games are in great working order and much better maintained then most places. Keep up the good wor
This place has a legit smash burger. Cool place to play some games and get a bite to eat. All ages. Saturday and Sunday 1-7pm
Always love hitting the arcade. Just wish they were open every day.
I really enjoy coming here. Good selection of games and pinball. The one issue I really have is an insanely loud racing game that is located right on the left as you enter the main room. I typically wear ear buds while playing Ms Pac man a few rows away. Please turn that racing game volume down as it overwhelms the entire place and I will give 5 stars! 09/21- I am coming back today. I hope to be able to bump this to 5 stars. 7/26/24- I don't get it. Why would you put a super loud game like Mario cart righ
Great vibe and engaging multiplayer options rather than mostly single player. Loved the two player pong game!
Good game selection, great drinks, and good food. Uses actual quarters (in the name) instead of cards.
When a fun venue! We went for the pre-party of Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker. The radio station did a lovely job of planning the event and staff at the arcade was friendly and helpful. Great old style arcade games. Well worth it!
Pretty good selection of classics as well as a nice atmosphere for gaming. Definitely not a fan of the $3 admission price and 50? plays/continues but understand they gotta pay the rent. At the very least it'd be nice to see 25? continues at some point, but it's definitely a solid arcade nonetheless.
I went to quarterworld years ago, but came back recently. I like the layout of the games in the main area better than before. It appears more welcoming. I do still have issues with machines taking my quarters. Lost a dollar or so between 3 machines (staff is able to fix this issue, but I just didn't want to bother at the time). Last time I remember, it was minors allowed until 8pm, but I think it is only on Saturdays now. Video poker lottery machines were added near the bathrooms, and alcoholic slushies wer
Came for Sad Prom event, had a nice time. Interesting selection of games, the specials and cocktails sound cool, and people were chill.
Absolutely love this place feels like being a kid again, running around and playing every I mean every game possible.
This was such a fun place to go to. Would definitely reccomend coming and checking it out.
Decent selection of retro pinball machines and mix of vintage and new arcade games ranging from $0.50 to $1 per play. Multiple rooms with two bars and fresh beer on tap. Keep in mind you have to pay $3 per person cover just to enter. The first game I played was Altered Beast and the first player joystick and punch button were broken...
Quarterworld has transformed the pinball landscape. Portland has always had its hold on retro games, but quarterworld seems to dominate in that it rents out pinball machines to multiple places (outside of the actual arcade). I don't know them personally, but my rent checks were to the owner of this arcade before Quarterworld existed. Indeed, the initial funding of Quarterworld came from real estate investments. But I'm happy to pay someone who invests in the culture of our community. I'm sure they're sitti
Glad I finally went in, looks like a great spot to fade and play pinball
Cool spot! They have a lot of awesome pinball games, both new and old. They offer pizza slices and beer. Live that they have an option to use your phone to pay for game play
I remember when this place was NickelWorld now I can't afford eggs
Quality machines well kept up. Old theater turned into an excellent barcade. Good drinks, beers, and bar food. Really friendly staff to boot especially Dana. Cool dude. A welcoming environment for all to enjoy oldies and new ones too. Plus some rare ones like Ninja Baseball Batman and Gals Panic II. Playing through Golden Axe the other day on an arcade cabinet was a nice trip down memory lane. Emulators can only do just that. The arcade experience is something really special and distinct. Always worth going o
It was fun but the games are a little over priced.
Parking is not ideal but this place is worth it. Lots of fun for cheap
Friendly staff, great adult beverages, amazing games, fun environment & decent food.
Growing up in the 80's I am a Pac-Man, Mrs. Pac-Man and Donkey Kong!!! I had a blast!
Great place to bring the kids to play games in the evening to kill time. The staff is and always has been, very friendly. Their happy hour food is also a must and you get fresh pressed orange juice on demand when ordered. This place is a gem. Must try.
I really enjoy going here because it's super cheap to get in, there is a massive pin ball selection among many other arcade games a totally functional bar and if you have kids at certain days and times kids are welcome as well. And if you like to play video poker, they got a small selection in a separate room where you can play. But every game is played with quarters. And it DOESNT take 7 quarters to play a game. It's reasonably priced and just a lot of fun for adults and kids.
Great for a date night but frustrating because you have to work hard to play some of the games due to wear and tear on the joysticks. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the sensitivity of modern technology?
Surprised how good the food was! Fun atmosphere, great value
This is the best arcade in portland! It does have a small entry fee to enter but once your in you dont want to leave. It has two large rooms one filled with all sorts of games from circus voltaire to Jurassic park shooting game. The other room has a wall of pinball and some select other games the place offers two full bars and a food menu for all taste ranging from deep fried oreos to vegan pizza! They have tesla coil shows and live music on weekends and tuesdays. If you a deal catcher there happy hour is 3
Busy spot, not a lot of space, and not a ton of games, in MY opinion! Food was delicious! Had fun with my friends each trying to get a golden egg outta the claw machine, if you know what I mean! ??
Had a great time. Lots of pinball and many classic games to choose from. Full bar, some bar food. A fun spot where you could easily kill a couple of hours! (-1 star for the several machines that ate my quarters!)
This is my husband's "favorite arcade ever". He got a shirt here years ago and it's starting to see some wear and tear. We live in a different state, but I contacted them about possibly buying a new shirt. Donna contacted me right away and sent me pics and prices. It was so easy and she was great. He just opened his shirt for Father's Day and was delighted. Thank you so much Donna, you are an absolute treasure! We can't wait to visit QuarterWorld again next time we're in Portland!
Decent bar related foods, the pretzel with garlic cheese dip. Pizza by the slice is good as well. Have cheese, pepperoni, and combination. Special slice changes. It's slightly spendy, but it's a bar drinks are standard games are pretty great, and has gambling as well would recommend a visit.
Seems like a decent place to go for a couple of beers and a few rounds of pinball. However, it was a bit of a disappointing experience taking my kid here on a Sunday. A number of the games listed on the website ended up being Out of Order. The Air Hockey puck got stuck in a slot and wouldn't come back out after our second point was scored. I paid for 3 credits for $2 for the new Foo Fighters pinball machine through the app they use for the games - but the game only gave me 2 credits and 1/3 credit for the t
QuarterWorlds Arcade is a decent spot, but it doesn't quite compare to Ground Kontrol. The games here feel a bit pricier, and some of them don't work smoothly, especially in multiplayer mode. They accept both cards and quarters, which is convenient for some, but also a bit confusing. Still, it has a fun vibe, but it could use a few improvements to match up to the competition.
Really good selection of games here. There is a second room to the left of the main arcade that is quieter and more cozy. Both rooms have bars. We got fries and a pretzel with cheese sauce and mustard, and they were fantastic. The wait time for the food was a bit long, but we were there on a busy Saturday night. The wait was definitely worth it. Excited to go back sometime soon!
Step into QuarterWorld for a perfect blend of old-school arcade fun and a fantastic drink selection. The retro games create a lively, nostalgic atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends. Whether you're into classic games or just looking for a great time, [Bar Name] delivers on all fronts. Don't miss this gem for a dose of nostalgia and top-notch drinks!
The last time I went to Quarter World it felt a lot different than my previous experience there. To my eyes it looks as though somebody put a lot of thought into the layout. You enter and there's a movie theater style ticket window where you get a wristband so you can come and go as you please. After the ticket would know there's a fairly long hallway full of old arcade machines. So if you're supposed to meet somebody there, you can still entertain yourself and if you want to have a conversation, it's q
Had a blast with the kiddo playing pinball and air hockey. They have an old school vibe going on. Only downside is having to find street parking but otherwise spent a great 2-3 hours on a rainy day! Clean bathrooms and lots of fun games.
Well run and clean. Pricing is totally reasonable. Friendly staff. I might go back but honestly there's just not enough games here. There's definitely some classics here but a lot of the popular arcade machines aren't there either.. I know these machines aren't cheap, and they get harder and harder to maintain. I guess I was expecting more machines in a place labeled ??world?.
My wife and I came here for an easy date night and it really exceeded my expectations. They have a great variety of games, everything from pinball to classic arcade games to basketball shooting. The big winner for me is the bar. It's a full bar with an array of fun game-themed drinks. Can't wait to go back soon.
One member of our party who is 47 years old was denied entry because he didn't have his passport (he's from Germany). I kindly asked the lady working there to reconsider, especially since he has completely gray/silver hair and could not possibly be under 21. The crusty old witch at the admission desk cackled and said "not going to happen" and then said "welcome to Portland" with a laugh. Well then Quarterworld, welcome to a 1 star review and welcome to not making the $100+ we were about to spend. WHAT A POO
Glad to see old school arcades still chugging along. This one is 21+ with several rooms and bars. I'm not a huge drinker, but they had a great selection of energy drinks and even some CBD beverages on tap that were legitimately tasty. Food menu was bar type food, but no one in our party tried any so can't comment on it.
Has two bars and good tavern food. If you like pinball, not a bad selection of pinball games
Great place to go for fun after growing into an adult. They've made a lot of changes, and most for the better. Their staff and drinks are great. They've added more games and changed the hours. I haven't been in on a weekend, but I imagine it is very busy. On the weekday, it wasn't so packed. Great assortment of pinball machines and different classic arcade games.
Please fix the lock in the men?s restroom stall!!!! It's been broken for forever and people are tired of being walked in on
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
