Every time I come to Quarter Up, I know I'm in for a few hours of fun. The games are all classics, with a ton of pinball machines as well as old school arcade favorites, and everything is kept in peak working order. The beer list is solid, with a number of both draft options and tall boy cans, and the cocktails seem expertly prepared as well. The food is better than expected - mostly standard bar bites - and I was surprised to learn how much of it they make in-house. The hot dogs are a steal - great price f
Great date night spot. The food was delicious! Small/ snacky portions, but prices were very reasonable. Awesome atmosphere! The bartender forgot to fire our order, but it gave us more time to game. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back!
The atmosphere is great. One of the best gin and tonics. But there were 5 people here total, and it took an hour to get my sushi rolls, on a Tuesday. If it was a weekend, or busy, would totally understand. But the bar is empty ??
Here's the deal. Good food, classic arcade games and tons of pinball. I mean, when's the last time you ran across a Golden Tee! Not a gamer? No worries, get a beer, some loaded fries and watch the news on one of the many TVs! Worth checking out, cool place!
God it was amazing! Went there on a whim, and so glad that I did!! The food was super delicious-- even the veggie burger (which I'm usually picky on). The drinks were really good, a really good place to go. Just grab a roll of quarters and you're good for a few hours! Will definitely be returning~
What a fun place to go! Walls are lined with arcade games. A wide variety of drinks to choose, including the Michaelangelo!! So good. Their food is also incredible! All beef hot dogs, juicy burgers, tater kegs and so much more to choose from. The staff were also very polite. I can't wait to go back!
Hot dogs and sweet potato fries were great. Price very reasonable. Nice area to sit outside. Server was very friendly and food came out quick. Had cool Mario Super Nintendo decor
Great bar excellent arcade. They have plenty of Arcade machines throughout. I enjoyed the pinball and no matter what door you enter there is a machine right there. They also have some lesser available machines in the back. The staff has been great and the first time the bartender came out and was talking with us about their leagues and maintenance. They seem to have everything handled and doing a great job. It was worth the hour drive, and I will be back.
Staff was friendly and drinks were decent. Don't always love having to pay for games but should have expected it. Wish there was a bit more games but for the space and area it was not bad. Had fun, just wouldn't be visiting again
Would give it zero stars if I could. Standing at a half empty bar with 2 bartenders and can't get any drinks. Not the first time this has happened which is the only reason for the review. Want to like this place for the great beer selection, but it's near impossible to get one to drink.
First time visit today. Hot dogs were crazy good. Beers on tap of course delicious. Push that great legs brewery and thirsty dog! Hey What is with the food menus being in micro number 5 font? Too many machines didn't have a price to play posted on them. I was warned about this. Why not just make all the arcade/ pinball machines the same price to play..50cents? Probably come back because of the dogs and since i found they have Captain Fantastic pinball I will definitely be looking for that one! I was so happ
I just want to make you aware of a situation that happened to me at this establishment. I stopped after work with my father. I personally had 3 pints of head hunter at $5 each and he had 2 troegs ipas at $6.25 each. Our check was $29.86 approximately. My dad paid with a $50 bill, because that was all he had. He received $9 and change back. When I inquired about the misstep, we both ended up getting cussed out and told that we clearly need $10 more than he does as he's throwing it at me after zero logical co
Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and had a great time. Menu had a nice selection and many options to customize, food was great, drinks were well-priced. The game machines were really fun (although some are broken and eat your quarters) and they also have Nintendo games that you can sit down and get involved in. There is an ATM and change machine, so you dont have to worry about running out of quarters. We had a great time and will be back!
We had a great time! We were warned ?? and we ordered too much food but we wanted to try so much! ...and it was worth it. The food was great. The service was wonderful. Nostalgia as it's finest with the retro games! Will definitely be going again.
This place is great! The specialize in hot dogs and they were EXCELLENT! The hot dogs they use as a base are delicious. I got the spicy chili and the Mac dog. Both were exceptional. Oh, and it's a bar??? Wow. AND THERE ARE ARCADE GAMES?!? Mind blown. Had a super time. Will go back again. Keep up the good work.
Giving 4.5 stars. Great food (+ sushi bar) Outdoor patio Arcade games: Dave & Buster style vibe, nice vibe overall. Never crowded and service is usually pretty speedy. Kid friendly hours are 12-5 Monday -Wednesday
Great priced drinks. Food is pretty good, and the service and games are wonderful. Check it out!
Updated1 1-26-25 - Trevor is freaking awesome!!!!! Super nice guy very friendly and very efficient, and good with the kids, yet also works very hard! Absolutely amazing experience here!! They do have kid friendly times, 100% stop here!! the kids / family times are Saturdays and Sundays 12-5 - The inner kid in you will thank you! Great environment, excellent customer service
This place is a gem. Food was classic bar food. Flatbread pizzas were really good we did a few apps chips and salsa I love that chips are made to order. Staff was very friendly.
Great drink selection, great game selection! Love that they keep the theme while including a little something for everyone to enjoy, like the photo booth. The only thing I wish they had is skii ball. (But I wish skii ball was everywhere.)
Hidden gem of the valley! What a crazy cool place for datenight or to take the little ones while the parents enjoy an adult beverage. The local/Ohio beer selection is fantastic. If you go here, get the corndogs! As far as I am aware, this is the only year-round corndog spot in the greater Akron area, and I might venture to say all of Summit County. I've been bringing people here ever since I came in on a rainy day with a buddy.
My boyfriend and I visited this establishment for a date night. After about 30 minutes of playing games, we walked past the bar and someone yelled out ?look at the monkey!? My boyfriend, being the only person of color in the bar, immediately felt uncomfortable and unsafe, so we left. I previously posted a review about this incident, but it was taken down. Therefore, I do NOT recommend visiting this establishment due to its racist environment and the defense of such behavior.
Great selection of working video games, drinks and food. Another visit today. They have kid friendly hours. Highly suggest a visit with your younglings during these times.
Amazing pinball and arcade bar. Great beer selection and nice staff. The place was packed on Saturday and we had a great time here!
The atmosphere of this place is stellar and most of the games cost .25 - 1.00, however many of them also have issues with controls. Dig Dug didn't let us go left and the TMNT game was functional except Michaelangelo. Food is OK but the prices are a hair high for meals that only come with chips, I'd be more ok with it if it came with fries. Overall, a great place to hang out.
Trevor is the nicest, friendliest bartender you will ever meet! Great beer selection and pretty good bar food the sweet potato chips are awesome they have about a dozen of pinball machines which is a lot of fun.
I love this places food. I've had Sushi. It was definitely good. The Corndog is the love of my life ??. The best that I've had by far. Environment and atmosphere has been okay. I haven't played the games yet, my only reason for not 5 stars?.. but I'll be back. I'm gonna stay awhile and have a drink. Stay tuned.??
This. Place. Does. It. Right. Great food (just steer clear of the caramel pretzels, the rest is solid) and a fun, inexpensive evening to hang with friends. Plus the beer here is a great celebration. I got the veggie burger and fries and I definitely recommend you grab something to eat while you stop by. Nice job, Quarter Up!
We had a great time. Excellent cheese fries, quality hot dog and a great cheeseburger. The staff was friendly and responsive. The pinball machines, classic video games, shuffle alley were amazing. See you soon!
I went with a group of 7 for my boyfriends birthday, and we all had the BEST time. Service was great, and so was the food & drinks. Our bartender/server was very patient, and kind. This place felt super nostalgic and cozy for us. We will definitely be back. I wouldn't change a single thing about this establishment. (However, would you consider adding a Hi-C margarita to your menu?)
I only came to play pinball, and had a fine time doing it! Great selection of 15+ games in a fun barcade environment surrounded by an eclectic collection of arcade games and interactive classics like skee-ball and air hockey. Pinball machines were all functioning (which is rare), though not necessarily in perfect condition (some dirty playfields, GI was out on WOZ, etc), and they seemed to be leased from an off-premise company. Pinball selection was clearly made by a pinball lover? Mata Hari, Whitewater,
Super fun place to hang with friends. Old-school arcade games, Game Cube/Super NES tables, fantastic Jalape?o poppers, and good music. This place has everything you need for a fun night out.
Not bad place the arcade games could use some servicing. I ate a hot dog and chips. Hotdog was good.
Had a great time! Lots of old favorites. Pinball and video games 25 cents video and 50 cents most pinball . Decent beer selection. Got very crowded as the evening progressed.
Quarter Up has a selection of games, a nice diverse menu that goes beyond bar food. We have always had great service and food. However, they have a male bartender, who gets extremely intoxicated at the bar when he isn't working. . He accosted my brother ( a regular, and I would hope valued customer), both verbally and physically a few weeks back and yet continues to work there and over indulge and become beligerent after his shift. Not a comfortable vibe. During the physical confrontation, *smacked my
My first time there and loved it. It's now my new favorite bar in town. I don't know why I put off coming here, everyone told me its great. I didn't know what I was missing. First off all the bartender girls were awesome and the mixed drinks were original with game characters and movie themes. I had the aquaman, my boyfriend had the stranger things upside down which was"Super Delicious". Only down side some of the games ate the quarters you wanted to play. The music was nostalgic and the people were fun to
Super cute setup inside. The video game theme is awesome. Love that you don't have to buy tokens or time cards to play, can use good old fashioned quarters to play! Ordered a Princess Peach cocktail and it was sooo tasty. Definitely lived up to its name. A really fun place for a date or casual hangout with friends.
My favorite barcade. Definitely be best in town by a long shot. Lots of pinball, and classic machines as well as TVs everywhere and board games and even some consoles set up for public use. Lots of interesting food and drink options too. Absolutely worth checking out if you're in the valley, I assure you!
It's a nice concept like 16 Bit and Raycade, but they charge for the games. I'm not really okay with that since I'm spending a lot on drinks and food. Make the games free. Other than that it's a nice hang spot with friends. Food looks good.
This place is so much fun! Games vary in price. Bring quarters. The bartenders are nice.
Amazing bartenders amazing environment, cheap and great, 10 out of 10
Doesn't look like much from the outside but I really like this bar. They have good staff, a really nice patio, and last Sunday they had free chicken wings at halftime and they were amazing. Always a good beer selection and 50 cent pinball. One of my new favorite watering holes in Akron.
Kitchen was closed, so it would be unfair to judge the food. Service was fine, but the atmosphere was excellent! There's a lot of fun classic games to play, and Jenga too!
My friends and I met up here Sunday also with my kids and loved the atmosphere the bartender is super nice. Games everyone will love For a family of 4 I only spent $50 on food and drinks Total I spent on games I would say $100 and we were there from 2-5 Definitely will come again
This place is 21 and over. Your kids are not welcome. I'm guessing they have thier reasons. But I won't be back. They have arcade games, and most of them work most of the time. Beer selection is usually pretty good. Food options are limited and hot dog based. Customer service is usually attentive, kind, and diligent.
Surprised is in understatement about the menu here. Sure; you've probably been to a barcade before at this point, but have you been to one that has some of the best food in town? Not just JUNK food, but actual menu items that will fill you up. The customized corn dog menu they have is absurdly delicious, and all reasonably priced too. And not to mention; they also meet the great food with a wide variety of booze to drink from as well! They definitely got some classics and they even have some modern syste
Better places out there, drink menu was eh. One female bartender was also eh, maybe a little rude but oh well-the guy was super chill. But the games are kinda just expensive. If you want people to hang out longer and have a good time and buy more drinks then don't charge so much. E specially for pinball. I love pinball but was kinda disappointed like $1.50 a play for 3 balls. Idk I've been to better barcades. Id go here if I was in the area, but would not travel out of my way to go here.
Been here a few times but like family time the best! Old school games with great beer and bar food!
This place is awesome! Lots of pinball and retro arcade games. The burgers and drinks are right on point. Sushi Katsu is next door, and you're able to order through your Quarter Up bartender. Here's why 4 stars instead of 5...twice now my husband and I have placed a sushi order through the bartender immediately upon arrival. Two hours later, still no sushi. Either work a priority situation out with Katsu or don't offer the service. Regardless, it won't stop us from enjoying the awesomeness of Quarter Up!
Went there with a large group for a social event on a Tuesday evening. First time. We only had the appetizers and enjoyed a wide variety of them. Bar service was very prompt and the drink prices were inexpensive. There were dozen of various pin ball and arcade type machines. Certainly enough variety for anyone's taste. I intent to return and try the rest of the menu and enjoy more of the arcade games.
We just tried this place over the weekend and we will definitely be returning. We loved everything about it. There were 5 of us in our group, 2 had been before and recommended it to us. We all had a great time! The games, atmosphere, food, the drinks at the bar were fantastic! The sushi from next door was amazing and the bar serves it to you! We really enjoyed Quarter Up and will continue to be recurring customers! Pricing is good and the drink/food is better than I expected. Delicious :)
Such a cool spot! Great games and music! Awesome spot to hang out with friends and play some old and new games.
This place was a great addition to our trip. The food was pretty good and the drinks were refreshing. The atmosphere felt very nostalgic and brought back a child-like feeling of bliss and excitement. Running around sticking actual quarters in arcade games and claw machines to play games and to win small novelty items was a great way to end our night. If we come back to Akron we will definitely have to come back here.
Nice bar with a variety of craft beer and specialty cocktails. Plenty of arcade and pinball games. Has a pool table, air hockey and hoops in an adjoining room. Also offers some pub food and you can order really delicious sushi from the adjacent Sushi Katsu restaurant.
Great place to play retro arcade games and have a couple beers. I also love all the pinball tables; it's pretty rare to find that kind of selection. Most places that advertise themselves as Barcades are really bars with a few arcade games as an afterthought. This is a true arcade, with the bonus of alcohol.
Couple of the machines could definitely use a shop. The atm also didn't work while we were there and had to go around to another building but otherwise me and my wife had a good time while we were there we didn't eat but I saw food looked good and looked like people were enjoying it :)
Great beer prices with a large selection; however, I think they only have draft or cans. Good atmosphere. Shots are a little pricey based on beer prices. Does serve food - I didn't eat any so no revirw5 on that, though it looked decent.
If you want to go to a bar but don't want all the idiotic typical bar scene, go here. The people that go here are nice and friendly, very welcoming atmosphere. Bartenders are cool and obviously the arcade games are amazing. If you were born in the 80s, you'll feel like a kid again...but with booze.
Food and beer is good and priced better than normal! Always good to stop by and have a conversation with someone! The owners are good down to earth people. I think Akron is lucky to have an enjoyable arcade bar experience out here.
Nice arcade, food was good.
We had a blast playing all the games, and the food was delicious!
We loved this place! The crowd is not rowdy- it's calmer and fun. We really felt safe there and the food was great. Highly recommended!
Stopped in for a few hours when my sis-in- law was in town. Fun games, vintage music, good food & a really chill atmosphere. Had a great time
Quarter up is by far the best bar out there. Its my favorite one. The staff is always nice and lots of games to play. And i must say the older arcade game like PAC man and DK are fire and they got them. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great time with friends and family. Also good for a first date or just a date in general.
Quarter Up is a great place to go if you're looking to enjoy the local night life while playing old school video games on arcade machines with a craft beer in hand. The reasonably priced American-style food menu ensures that there's something for all tastes and appetites to chow down on. Quarter Up also offers a great craft beer selection along with a full service bar. The highlight of my visits will forever be the arcade- where I have made it my goal to play each of the 78 games offered at least once! This
Had a great time here. Service from bartenders was great, I never had to wait for a drink. The games are great... tons of pinball games that are great. There is a Nintendo setup with games behind the bar. Also had a giant jenga set... this is a lot of fun with a group. Great location, close enough to walk to other restaurants and bars!
Place was a let down and the bartender was clueless. Favored one side of the bar (right). Forget multiple things. Water three times. Didn't know how to change a Channel. Took about 30-45 mins to place an order on the (left) side of the bar. Find somewhere else. Games $$$. Drinks 3/10. Bar needs 2 or more ppl working. Overall 3/10 better places around.
Other than the girl with the blue hair (she's the only reason it gets three not two stars) the staff is not very friendly or accommodating. The girl with blue hair was amazing, super sweet and attentive. The guy with the glasses was very rude and snobbish. The chili for the chili dogs was not spicy in fact it was way too sweet that I couldn't even eat half of it. It would be nice to have more of a beer selection. Unfortunately on the night that I went the tables with the game systems were taken up by a part
Had the bourbon burger, loaded fries, wing dings, and chips... Along with some alcoholic beverages. It was good bae food with bigger than average portion size. The arcade was pretty cool and reasonably priced .. although $1 for the basketball game was high I thought. Overall, I'd definitely return and have a great evening out!
I want to give them 5 stars. Very cool atmosphere and a nice variety of games. The food is also quite reasonably priced. However, the service at the bar was mediocre. I understand a laid back kind of attitude but not *that* laid back. Bartender was vaping while we waited to order. Made us stand there for a few mins until he came over. Otherwise, a cool place.
Quarter up is one of the best Bar Arcades because of the friendly staff, great drinks, and clean classic arcade games. I highly recommend ????.
Lots of cool games to play if you like arcade cabinet games. I didn't see any current-time games, but that was okay for my group. They had one page of game-themed drinks on their menu. Two of us ordered some and when we tried them they tasted almost exclusively of the alcohol they were made of, any other flavors were hard to detect. Neither of us finished them because they were too strong. I took three stars off because the service was HORRIBLE. Even just being a bit busy (weekend kind of busy, not St Pat
First time here last night. Food was good but lots of games here make it a 5 star for me. Many styles of arcade and pinball machines make for a fun time! Bartender was friendly and gave us fast service. Definitely will be back for more fun!
I love this place and have since they opened. Fun games, great food, good priced drinks but...the male bartender with the beard and is overly dressed is horrible. He has a huge chip on his shoulder, is rude and dismissive and attempted an apology to my boyfriend but was even rude about that. We used to love going here but will avoid it when that man is working.
Awesome place!! They have many pinball and classic arcade games, including flat top versions of Mrs. Pacman and other classic arcade games. Thankfully not as crowded as other local arcade and bar locations. There are specific times families with children are permitted as well. Food was good too as was their drink selection. Would recommend. Games are typically Fifty cents to play.
Good tap options. Most arcade games were working but very limited options to get change. The ATM only gives $20s but the change machine only takes $1s and $5s so you have to wait in line at the bar to play games and impossible to do when visiting during family hours. Staff is super nice and generally liked my experience.
Went here on a 1st date. Amazing idea, it was an instant ice breaker. TIP GUYS: dont let her win! The atmosphere had a good vibe of gamers and non, clean, great music, reasonably priced. Game selection was perfect. Bartenders were friendly.
Quarter up is my favorite place to just hangout and have a couple beers. The arcade games are super cool and retro and they always have some quality beers on tap at a reasonable price. The servers are very efficient and they always got something entertaining on the TV. Highly recommend this spot!
Went Saturday afternoon, got there about 430. All I can say is wow! the bartender she was so nice and helpful, even with being busy. The bar was clean, the drinks were priced right and the games, they are legit quarter arcade games. No funny "cards" to buy to load, no tokens that you get stuck with. All the games we played ranged from 1 quarter and we didnt see anything over 1$. If your debating between here and "The Workz" in Cuy. Falls.. CHOOSE HERE. Hands down a better experience, better drinks, bett
Went on Sunday April 25, 2021 around 830-9pm, the bartender was wonderful, she was fun, talkative, and made some good drinks. Only down side is at the time they were out of a few liquors, guess the shipment was delayed. Kudos to the bartender, she was honest and apologetic about being out of stuff, and recommended substitutes.
This is an amazing retro-style bar. The first time I had went there they were playing old metal music like Iron Maiden. They have pin ball machines, classic arcade cabinets, darts, air hockey, a photo booth (that takes photos on the outside so it is really good for large groups) and an old GameCube with a few games. Drinks are reasonably priced too with a beer typically being 4.50 or less.
This is an amazing bar. The games are so much fun, they have arcade machines and old game systems set up. The staff was great an so we're the drinks and food. Highly recommend a night out here.
A step back in time for ?arcade kids? of the 80?s/90?s... This is a perfect low cost date night too. Food overall was what you'd expect from a bar but I did especially enjoy the lightly breaded very crispy wings. Our bar tender was a pleasant young lady who was very attentive. There are numerous specialty beers to choose from and drink prices are more than resonable. Go check it out. We will be back!
I would say Quarter up has 50+ arcade games, most are 25 cents, some pinball games are 50 cents to a dollar. But they are reasonable priced games overall. There's food and alcohol. I didn't not partake in the bar or food but it looked like they had a large selection of drinks. I would highly recommend as a nice, calm, fun bar.
I will never be back while Mandy the insanely rude bartender is there, if ever again. I cannot believe the audacity she had to actually raise her voice at me personally AND my group of friends who i brought there for the first time. PLEASE CONSIDER hiring a new bartender - one who is grateful to be working right now, someone who can handle a crowd, and someone who doesn't yell at other people, especially paying customers. Like, seriously?! I'm still in shock over the experience i had on Monday 3/22/2021. I
Tons of games. All worked except for a few individual buttons here and there. We went last year and we're pretty disappointed since our only other experience at a barcade was 16-bit, but this place has really stepped up!! They now have a good looking bar menu with some thought out cocktails, much improved decor, an expansion, and TONS more games. Well done. And for those so inclined, they have designated "family hours" as well, which I think is a great idea. We had a great night there for my hubby's bday.
Great place... I give this 2 stars... the food was awful! Eat before you go. I advise people not to order the gyro. Meat was cold! No silverware, napkins or salt and pepper!
Feels like the old arcades did, except they added the benefit of having beer as well! Recently they started serving food (haven't had any yet though.) As well as the old arcade games they also have some amazing party video games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Melee. Fun time, would recommend.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
