The garlic knots receive consistent acclaim, and the menu offers diverse options beyond pizza. Some mention minor issues like occasional slow service, inconsistent food quality during busy times, or small complaints about specific policies (e.g., wing sauces). THIS is the place to be if you want the best pizza and garlic knots in the area. Plain and simple. Oh! And they have ice cream!!

We are pizza lovers and have been trying restaraunts in VB with 4.5 or higher ratings. This place did not disappoint. It offered indoor or air conditioned patio seating. We opted for the patio as the inside didn't have seating available. Our order was placed and caesar salad and pepperoni pizza came out at the same time. The salad was fresh and the caesar salad dressing a little different than what I expected but was fresh. The pizza was so good! Seems like we need to broaden our top choices. Well made, ch

DELICIOUS DELICIOUS DELICIOUS!!!! Garlic Knots were the star of the show for me. Desserts are phenomenal!

A really awesome place! Lexi was sweet and helpful, and the food was perfect. The fried pickles were crunchy, the grilled cheese looked crisp and gooey, the pizza was loaded with toppings and cooked to perfection, and the crispy chicken sandwich had nice and fresh lettuce and tomato. We'll be back next time we're in the area.

I would like a little more crisp on the undercarriage of the pizza... But all in all, the pizza was super fresh. The garlic rolls not knots, were absolutely fantastic and better than your traditional dense garlic knots. These were garlic dinner rolls, that were fluffy and absolutely beautiful. The soft drinks we're fresh and not seltzer water tasting. I will definitely go back.

Garlic knots are more like muffins as far as size goes! They are huge! So so tasty tho. Pizza was very good and had generous amount of toppings. Had the twix cheesecake which was home made. Small arcade in the back. Despite being very busy with pickup orders our pizza still came out in an expected amount of time. Some local cans and bottles of beer for purchase as well. Very clean and friendly place

Holy cow. Really think about what day and time you plan on going. Very small, very loud (Friday). Food was great. The knots are more like buns(we didn't know until it got to the table) still very good. I honestly feel bad for staff. There's not much room to get around. I hope the pay is good. Our waitress was very apologetic and such a sweet girl. Id go back but maybe on a slower day if there is one.

A local favorite! My kids love to come here and play the arcade games; keeps them entertained great. I can honestly say there isn't a bad thing on the menu. The Philly Cheese Steak pizza is our favorite, and the pumpkin knots in the fall are amazing.

Great little family spot. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Fettuccine Alfredo, stuff shells, spaghetti, and pizza were outstanding. Don't forget about the ice cream before you leave.

Building seems a little beat up but that's not my issue. The issue is they charge insane amounts for the craziest crap. Like 19 bucks for a tiny little pizza. Very very over priced. I've been coming here for years but sadly it's time to start looking for a new place.o and the home made garlic knots are not home made. They are just buns you can buy at any store soaked in garlic butter. It sucks because there garlic knots use to be absolutly amazing.

Easy parking here. We were seated quickly. Once our order was taken by the friendly staff. Our food was quick to hit the table! The wings were really good. I ordered breaded with buffalo sauce. They were flavorful and mildly spicy. The pizza was good, but could have been cooked a couple of minutes more. The center seemed slightly under cooked for my liking. But still a good pie! Next order, I'll ask for it to be cooked longer. Over all a good place to get a quick bite when your in the outer banks.

Update: 4/6/24 still exceed my expectations. This business needs to open up more locations I love it here!!!!! //////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Always a local favorite. Their garlic knots are insanely delicious and the pizza is the best in Virginia!!!! So happy to stop in everytime we are in town. Ice cream is creamy and flavorful also

One of the best family and kid friendly places to eat in all coastal Virginia. We've been going here for years and it's always a quality experience. Among the classic fresh locally made pizzas, the garlic knots are not to be missed. And who doesn't love having an arcade in the place! They're handicapped accessible, have an outdoor seating area and are accustomed to hosting gatherings and birthday parties. Everytime we visit, the staff is always going the extra mile. It's not uncommon to have several people

Locals Locale, and we love our Pungo area. "Garlic knots are off the chain!" Plus, they will put pineapple on a pizza. Old school video games is good for the kids, bring your quarters!

First two times here was amazing, don't know what happened during the last visit. Food normally is really good but the buffalo chicken wrap was significantly smaller than before and the fries were cold. Taco pizza was laughable; regular pizza with a weak amount of toppings on top of what seemed to be watery tomatoes and garbage iceberg lettuce. Staff is normally great here but waitress last time was lackadaisical and seemed careless just wanting us to get out of there. Ice cream is really good here as alway

Cute little restaurant off the road has a lot of indoor and outdoor covered seating, food was great and flavorful especially the big garlic knots and I'm not one to like garlic knots! Prices are great it is $1 for extra toppings but that's ok food is to good to worry about that Lol. Employees were very welcoming and attentive making sure our food was good and our glasses were never empty, restaurant was very clean and the arcade in the back was nice keeps any age range busy Lol we didn't get to try dessert

My husband and I were driving around the area when we both got really hungry. We settled on this place. And boy, oh boy, we're so glad we did!! We went at around 5pm on a Saturday. Not too packed but once was were finished at around 6:45pm, the place definitely filled up. They've got a game room as well. Great way to spend some time. The service was absolutely amazing. We ordered a lot but our server was so sweet. We got Pungo Pizza, meatballs, Philly cheese sub, broccoli chicken Alfredo, a cup of the soup

Sitting here right now digesting what has to be the BEST pizza I have ever had in my life! The other half of my life cooked in the Big Apple and says that New York pizza is now DETHRONED! Low prices, friendly staff, and the BEST PIZZA THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN!

Absolutely a must when in Pungo! Excellent food and staff! Garlic knots, Pizza, Meatballs, Ice Cream is always very yummy! Great place before or after the beach!

Best crust on a pizza I have ever had. Light, not chewy and very delicious. This pizza can rival many NY, NJ and PA pizzas. The staff is extremely nice and the service great. Don't miss this place when you are here in Virginia Beach.

Amazing food. People are very friendly. Service is pleasant and mindful. Almost mind reading ability.

My request for my 40tu bday! I love pizza and live almost an hour away. Family friendly and they have a small arcade and ice cream. The garlic knot rolls are to die for!!

Awesome pizza! Great experience, service is very good despite being very crowded. Some town atmosphere, great little joint that gas been around for years.

The BEST garlic knots I've ever had. Pizza is perfect and you can tell all of the ingredients are made and prepped fresh in house. The desserts are huge! Pungo Supreme Pizza is the best combination.

12in Pizza & Baked Zitti = <$30. Pizza is great. Thin, chewy, flavorful crust - pizza bones were lightly crisp on the outer layer, and chewy like under the sauce/toppings. Sauce is traditional tiny bit sweet, tiny bit tangy. Cheese was melty but stretchy, and perfectly salty (but didnt drive me to a glass of water). Toppings were sufficiently spread around - I wouldnt ask for more or less. I bought the zitti ahead for dinner... looks tasty.

If you're looking for a family friendly pizza joint - you've found it. Pungo Pizza has so much history in the Sandbridge area. The staff there are all friendly, attentive, and sweet. We will make a point to drive out there or take the long way home just to stop here. The chicken tenders are the best I've had and I typically share my daughter?s. But my favorite menu item of theirs? The garlic knots! You cannot go wrong ordering these bad boys. They are even more delicious (if possible) as leftovers.

Love everything about pungo pizza! The cinnamon knots are a MUST. The Greek salad is constantly good. The pizza is the best in VB. I wish they delivered but I'll gladly make the drive to pick up myself. Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Amazing food and service! If you're up for the drive, it's a great vacation option for good italian food.

The garlic knots and pizza were fabulous! The staff and service, not so much. We couldn't get drink refills and I never did get the cinnamon knots that I ordered.

The garlic knots at Pungo pizza are amazing. If you go and don't get some, you are doing yourself a disservice! The pizza is very good as well. Although it was crowded when we visited, the wait staff were very attentive and made sure we had refills on drinks.

I like the crust but take a look at the bacon pizza. There's no bacon on it. ??????? I would like to give this place a decent review but I can't... for the price and lack of bacon it wasn't worth it. The Tuscan was pretty good and the service was decent but our friends talked up the bacon pizza and it fell totally flat. Too bad. Save your money and buy domino?s.

Always a great time! Awesome Garlic knots, great pizza, the Lasagna was very good & I had a good size portion. Not the best pics (forgot until I got home), but the taste was on point. We also were able to get the Legendary Peach Cobbler Cheesecake!! Lol YUM

Wow! The service here is top notch! Came here on New Years Eve and they were pretty slammed with phone and online orders; but the young staff was making the best of it and were incredibly polite and well informed on the menu. This place is also deceptively large inside; they even have an arcade. The buffalo chicken ranch stuffed pizza is more like an actual pie. And it was delicious! As were the fried pickles. We'll definitely be coming back here. Seems a lot of regulars were dining here as well. One piec

Get the garlic knots it'll change your life

Food is usually pretty good. They have the best gluten-free crust around. I still like to have it cooked well done for that extra crisp. My kids love the spaghetti and their ice cream. I wish they delivered.

Food is always delicious. Highly recommend garlic knots, cinnamon knots, calzone and ice cream! Friendly staff, love the arcade!

Garlic knots are phenomenal. Pizza crust is crispy. Worth the drive from anywhere in Hampton roads and even from out-of-state ;) My family and I love the ice cream too. They even have Superman! And don't forget about all of their pies, cheesecake, and other desserts too. Can wait for my next visit.

My family & I stopped at Pungo Pizza & Ice Cream on a Saturday after an event. It was pretty busy with a wait time of 10 minutes for 3 people. We waited in the game room for a little while before checking with staff to see if we could be seated. The staff were all helpful and polite. We ended up having multiple servers - so we aren't sure who got the tip we left. Our order was a regular pepperoni pizza and garlic knot with ice cream cones afterwards. The food did not disappoint! Everything came out great! T

Food is good but make sure you ask for napkins and eating utensils for takeout. I picked up takeout and when I got to barn to eat my salad no eating utensils or napkins. I think these items should be part of every takeout order.

Food was so good that even an Amish dude would use an electronic device to write a review

We had their garlic knots, jalapeno poppers, and the stuffed meat lovers pizza. Everything was very good!!!

Staff is very friendly and attentive. Our waitress was the manager and she was spot on. Fried pickles are flavored with the right amount of seasoning, garlic knots are a must order and the pizza is loaded with toppings. Pizza dough has a good flavor. All deserts are in housemade and there is a wide variety of choices.

We have eaten here several occasions. Never disappointed!! Food is excellent and prices are reasonable. Just tried their pizza rolls for the first time and they are awesome, we highly reccomend giving them a try!

Pungo pizza is a culinary dream come true! With fresh, delicious ingredients and unbelievably affordable prices, it's a haven for pizza lovers! The staff's infectious enthusiasm and warm hospitality make every visit a delight! For pizza enthusiasts in Virginia Beach, this is the ultimate destination! Add it to your bucket list and indulge in life-changing pizzas like the Mediterranean masterpiece with Ricotta cheese or the boldly spicy sauce pizza!

One of my favorite mom and pop places! I have been going for 3 years and they never disappoint. Tuscan pizza is my favorite item on their menu if I want pizza I head to Pungo. They offer pizza, pasta, ice cream and many more options the menu is extensive. They do have a few beer items if you dine in. They have an arcade and a back room which is a cute spot for celebrations and birthdays for kids. Small piece of perfection if you don't mind the drive the kitchen really knows what they are doing and have been

Will absolutely never ever go back to Pungo Pizza. I grew up in Virginia Beach and always loved the garlic knots, pizza, and atmosphere. And Pungo Pizza just lost my family?s business for life. My 2year old daughter has a severe anaphylaxis allergy to peanuts. Pungo Pizza said they CANNOT guarantee that any of their food would not be cross contaminated with peanuts. We brought her dominoes pizza so she could still eat pizza with the rest of our family. We were asked to leave and remove the outside food as

Phenomenal spot! Holy molly garlic knots??????????? calzone was super bomb too!

Not what I remember. I remember this place having good pizza, I stopped in to get 2 slices to go, no one seemed very happy when I walked in, the guy asked me if dining in or pick up, I told him to go, he then tells the girl to take my order, she looked like she really was enjoying her job, (I am being facetious) bottom line is that the bottom of the pizza was a little charred and the slices looked like they came from a personal pan pizza (small) had a lot more sauce and not much cheese. Just awful.

We got the garlic knots, a white pizza with ricotta, pepperoni and mushroom pizza, and cheese pizza. Everything was good! The knots are huge! Best pizza I had have in a really long time. We didn't eat inside but I love the enclosed air conditioning picnic table area. Staff was friendly too. Highly recommend.

A great dining experience for a friend's birthday party. The staff was friendly and accommodating and easily supported our 12 person party on a busy night. The food was delicious. Garlic knots are a must get. The Tuscan pizza was filled with flavor.

Okay, look here. I don't write reviews often, but something needs to be said about something very important here. I have lived near this restaurant for 20 years. Pungo Pizza is quite good but they have one major problem in my opinion. It is completely unacceptable to charge 19.99 for 2 lb of wings and only allow one sauce for all 2 lbs. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years. It is not complicated to put two sauces on 2 lb of wings. Please do better and change this policy to allow two sauces

Food is great here! Not just the pizza. Service was Great! Cyley was friendly and on point with everything, even though he was in the middle of Lunch Rush. Food came out fast and was delicious. Even decided to get dessert! Homemade Cakes are Delicious. My little one loves the fresh scooped icecream! Had a great experience! Definitely will be back! Thank you for the Awesome Lunch!

My daughter and son in law treated us to dinner. We had plain , pepperoni , meat lovers and veggie pizza. We also had wings and chicken nuggets everything was delicious , great fob guys

I would give this place 10 million stars if I could! The host, food, price, atmosphere and our waitress were ALL AMAZING!!!!

One of my favorite pizza spots in Virginia. Delicious food and wonderful service. We've always had positive experiences dining here, or getting take out.

I went there with my family, my cousins and there family. Went in there already had good first impression with the employees. They were friendly, polite, and gave off a good vibe. The atmosphere felt nice compared to other places where I might feel the stroller or baby carrier might be in the way. We enjoy their ice cream and root beer floats. It was good time. Would recommend any family to go and check it out

Huge food portions and delicious food! The staff was very friendly and the garlic knots are a must try!

This food is amazing great Galicia knots and great pizza when there twice on Vaca in a week.

This restaurant exudes a charming small-town vibe. However, pizza aficionados from the New Jersey, New York area might find the pizza disappointing, akin to something from Chuck E. Cheese. On the upside, the service is exceptional, adding to the overall pleasant experience. While I didn't try the ice cream, its appeal suggests it might be a redeeming feature. Overall, it's a great spot for a local dining experience, but don't expect top-tier pizza.

We have been coming here for years. We love the chicken ranch stuffed pizza and garlic knots. Service and food quality can be a bit iffy when they are busy, so it would be hard to give an accurate review over one visit.

Nice local restaurant with great history behind it. On the side of the country road and seems like folks around here all recommend the diner as the place to go. Great food and very delicious and reasonably price. Definitely recommend it if you are around the area.

Awesome atmosphere. Food was excellent. Service was good. Definitely recommend.

This is THE BEST gluten free pizza I've ever had. Crispy cracker crust! The tomato sauce definitely tastes fresh and home made. The service was fantastic and don't forget a scoop of Hershey's icecream or a root beer float!

We got the buffalo pizza roll ups. They were phenomenal. Highly recommended! Comes with 4, we ate 2 and we're stuffed!

Been there twice now, both times were very good food!! Service is slow and could probably use some training and an adult around to keep the children focused. The bacon cheese fries and pizza are so delicious.

This was such a great restaurant! They have a large menu with lots of choices including a bunch of homemade desserts and an ice cream bar. All of the waitstaff were so sweet and professional as well. I had the cheesesteak sandwich and fries and some peanut butter pie and it was all delicious! Others at my table had pizza and baked ziti and they were happy with their meals too.

Let me start by saying, the pizza at this place is absolutely fantastic! The flavors danced on my taste buds, a true culinary delight. Now, onto the service - our server was a nice guy, but we only crossed paths three times during our visit. Once to jot down our order, another to deliver our food, and lastly to hand us the check. It left us wanting a bit more interaction. Nevertheless, the outstanding quality of the food really stole the show. If you're all about the eats, this spot is definitely worth a vi

An out of the way pizza and ice cream establishment. Great people taking the time to prepare food the way it should be. A great semi outdoor seating area allows for a good time with a view of the outdoors.the Pizzas are made with all the toppings one could desire. The ice cream is hand scooped in front of you and prepared to your taste by artisan employees. A great spot to grab a bite and spend time with friends and family.

The garlic knots are the absolute best we have ever had. We also split the 2 slice of pizza lunch special. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The restaurant was clean. The food was delicious. There is handicap parking and a side entrance which doesn't have any steps, so it is perfect for a handicap entrance.

The food is superb and I cannot wait to go back with my kids!

Cleanest most comprehensive Pizza joint I've ever been in. Polite staff. Great menu. One ask.... cook the mushrooms a bit before putting them on the pizza. Can you believe Ice cream fountain too? Wish you were in Boston!

I had a Greek salad and pizza roll ups. I had garlic bread with my Greek salad. When they brought my pizza roll ups, they looked just like my garlic bread but a bit larger. I took a bite from a pizza rollup, and it hardly had any pizza filling. I might as well had 4 more pieces of garlic bread. I've always enjoyed my meals there and will continue to eat there periodically. So if you like pizza, order pizza, not rollups. If you like garlic bread, order garlic bread or pizza rolls. Important note: this cou

There is a reason this place is busy! It's good! I'm not a big pizza fan but this place is good! We get the Mediterranean pizza with the feta cheese and spinach and black olives. My kids like the pepperoni Bacon ham sausage one. And the ice cream is Hershey brand which is amazing flavor and creamy and not found in a lot of places. We look for this specialty. So if you do that too... Here ya go!

I have been coming to Pungo Pizza since 1989. Yesterday your waitress was rude and accused of something I didn't do and your manager got in my face and told me that I am not allowed to come back to the store. I ask why, he told me that I assaulted a waitress in which I have no idea what he was talking about. He took two steps towards him with a fist. Since I am a repeat customer, I didn't deserve what happened nor didn't understand the situation.

garlic knots they were delicious, it was our first time there, the waitress recommended the combo Pizza so that's what we got half meet and have vegetable. And it was delicious, I drove over an hour to get there and it was well worth the drive.

This place was such a cool find on our vacation! The food and the service were both great. The pizza (we got pepperoni & sausage and the meat lovers), burgers, garlic knots, pizza rolls, Pungo shrimp, fries and ice cream were all delicious. I wouldn't recommend the chicken tenders (super dry), grilled cheese, breadsticks (only bc the garlic knots were so much better), mozzarella sticks or brownie sundae (cakey brownie) as they were just ok. We got sat downstairs in the arcade and our kids had a blast playi

The food was amazing, Our Waiter was so kind and thoughtful. Overall the best meal experience I've had at this establishment.

Our whole family loves pungo pizza, the food is delicious the service is good and the arcade is reminiscent of the good ol days. The recent economy has made eating out as a family of 5 well, costly. I really appreciate that not only are their food prices fair, but so are the kids' games. If you're in search of a wonderful family place that's fun and inviting, this is it.

First time here as I'm new to the area. We really enjoyed the food here. The pizza was great. The garlic knots were amazing! One might question how such a simple item like a garlic knot could impress anyone, but you must try these to see for yourself. The chicken wings were also very good. The food was fresh. The staff was attentive and pleasant. The service was quick. They have quite an extensive menu with some unique items. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu. The pr

They have my favorite Hamburger: the one with a fried egg on top. And the price is quite decent.

Been going here for years and never had a bad experience. Might have been busy a few times and wait time was longer than normal but that's to be expected. The food has always been great. One of my favorite pizza places.

The pizza, garlic knots and cinnamon knots are a reliable delicious option! We also enjoy the Buffalo Chicken wrap. The game area is fun and great for the whole family.

We came here with a group of 8 adults and 6 kids, ordered pizza about 20 minutes before we arrived and it was ready when we got there. The Pizza was delicious and especially the garlic knots. They were extra soggy with garlic butter dripping from the bottom, I loved it.

Although it's a pizza place, they have the BEST wings!!!

The pizza was great! Breakfast burger was awesome. Don't forget to get some garlic knots too. We stopped after a nearby event and it got a little busier than expected but the kids had fun in arcade and all the food was really good. Also my daughter forgot her phone on the table and I left my credit card, both were kept at counter for us to come back and pick up. Highly recommend!

We ordered Pungo pizza and garlic knots to go for our last night of vacation. The service was excellent; everyone was very kind and patient while managing a full restaurant and a lot of take out orders. Garlic knots are definitely worth the hype! We'll be back next time we visit Sandbridge.

Very good deal with garlic knots, pizza, and a brownie sundae.

Amazing food. Best pizza I've ever had. Highly recommend garlic nots and Buffalo chicken pizza.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
