Alpt of kids birthday on the weekend but they seemed to like the upstairs with the ticket games more then downstairs with the old school quarter games. That's where I spent most of the time. In the dungeon with the quarter games. Pretty neat place!

Press Start is a must if youre visiting Rapid City! For people of all ages, the pizza is delicious, the arcade downstairs is full of old school games and pin ball machines!! The employees are friendly too, it's a great atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again next time im in town!

We had my son's 13th birthday party at Press Start and he had a blast. Our server, Dylan was amazing! He was very attentive, so kind! There was a large selection of games for young and old. The adults loved all of the pinball machines downstairs. Great place for birthday parties!

My family and I recently went to Press Start, one of the few remaining coin-operated arcades in America. It is a new establishment with retro and new arcade games, as well as a bar and pizzeria. We went to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. The pizza was eaten up by the whole table (it was fun to see the kitchen make the pizza and put it in the fire oven). Our server took our order with a Toast Go, my first time ever seeing one of these in action. We easily ordered and paid with the Toast Go. The server put

We had our son?s adoption party today at Press Start. We called before and reserved the area where we could fit 20 or more people. The staff were very helpful. When we got there our server Dylan greeted us with a big smile and already knew our order for our pizzas. We added extra stuff last minute and it was so easy to do! Dylan had pitchers of water and different types of pop ready for our guests. We were eating within 15 minutes of being there. The mega star package is what we got and for the price you ge

We went to Press Start twice on our trip. Barcades are some of our favorite places to seek out. The retro basement is where it's at. Cheap games and so much fun! The jukebox brought back so many memories of my small town. Our server, Dylan, was wonderful! Knowledgeable, sweet, and so fun! We talked local lore as well as our favorite places to visit! Good service is hard to find, but he was fantastic! Would recommend to friends visiting the area.

I gave the pizza a 4 because the crust was hard but it had a great flavor and lots of toppings. Dylan our waiter was awesome!! He was fun and helpful and made our visit very enjoyable. Never lacked for drinks or anything and we were a table of 13. Up by the garage doors it was pretty chilly, thank goodness I had a warm jacket. Only thing I would like to see is hand sanitizer stations. After touching the games it might be needed? It was a fun place we had 5 kiddos and my husband won a bit in the casino.

Wanted to love the place. Pizza, beer, games. We got there and found out food doesn't start until 4, that's fine beer and games. Well we played pinball and the greatest air hockey I have ever seen, 4 person Parkman air hockey it was awesome. Well 4 rolls around and they tell us they are running behind and we were looking at 5pm to eat. We finished up our drinks and left. We were hiking all day and could not wait. Bar down the street had beer and burgers.

Wonderful place! The main floor is more kid oriented with ticket games and prizes. It kind of feels like a small Dave and Busters. ... But then the old arcade games from the 80s are downstairs and are awesome!! 25 cents to play. Good drinks, great service! We got the waffle fry nachos and they were amazing! Absolutely loaded and not a dry fry on the plate. Addictive.

I was here for the first time Sunday October 13th, and it was a good overall experience. Clean, and enjoyable! Pizza was pretty good, but in my opinion, could?ve been left in the oven a few more minutes, as it kinda didn't taste done (my taste though). Will definitely come back, and definitely recommend!

This was easily one of the most crowded drinking spots I found on a Friday night, and yet, the staff treated you well. Got drinks both upstairs and downstairs, played around $15 of quarters on games downstairs (used the rest on drinks because I still had a few dollars left haha). There was a dance floor upstairs, but I didn't see a lot of people dancing yet (around 11:30-12). Security was around the dance floor area and at the door, which was definitely more serious than entrance to most of the bars I went

Very fun atmosphere and fun arcade games! Love their drink selection too. Reasonably priced and a really fun good time! Will be back for birthday parties and just to go out and have some fun.

The only barcade in Rapid City! They have an upstairs and downstairs. The retro games are downstairs! They do allow kids here during certain hours so just be ready for that. We love going here with our family, and by ourselves! The food is good and the prices are fair! They have an ATM and coin machines on site. Highly recommend!

Our family loves this place. There are retro games and games for younger children. I believe they offer an area for parties as we have seen them in the past. There is a bar where adults can grab a drink while their kids are having fun. Parking is either on street at a meter (takes credit cards) or across the street in a free parking lot.

I had a great time! The food was decent, the staff was very attentive. The servers and the hosts(?) were great. The hosts kept the games full with tickets and were so friendly!! The games were very fun to play. There was a good variety of prizes for tickets as well. And of course there were the older games. There was even a air hockey game for 4 players downstairs with the older games. Most of the games upstairs were 25 cents, some being 50 cents and a few being $1. There was also a small photo booth for $2

Press start is a fun vibing time. Drinks are eh they know your basic stuff to be considered a bar, and they are decent price. Sometimes security is questionable especially since I have been going; I have been present for a firework attack and multiple fights (but that's just drunk people being drunk lol). The people who go here are either overly friendly at times or will not ever say a word to you? ever???(even when they start bumping into you crowding you out of the spot you were standing in). But overall,

We're locals in Rapid City, and I brought my friends from out of town here to celebrate my bachelorette party. What mistake that was. We stayed for several hours until 10 p.m. when the staff suddenly decided to start carding us. One of my friends from Arizona only had her digital ID?perfectly valid in many states?but apparently, not here. Fine, we can leave absolutely no big deal, but not before we've just exchanging a pile of quarters we'd just gotten from their machine. The staff downstairs told us we co

Hey there ,, well The Pizza not too bad , the Crust could use some Work, the Sauce was ok , But Hey they're not a pizza Place , So it was Edible , the Games were Really fun. But ?.. The part That caused us to leave and NOT SPEND ALL OUR QUARTERS , With A 7 yrs old Boy WAS A Gentleman set up his Guitar & speakers on A Wednesday night at 6:30 pm , Then proceeded to Croon very , Very loudly and unfortunately, not very well either ! So needless to say our First time There was not The Most Impr

Fun place. I enjoy taking the family here. The kids can play games while us adults can drink. The bartenders here are super friendly and always make you feel good. Food is a tad high priced for what you get in my opinion. On weekends it's rapids club scene and it's not bad either. Fun times and always good looking crowd for the most part.

Do not trust their coat check. My girlfriend paid 5$ to leave her 100$ Colombia jacket up front and at the end of the night no longer had it. They gave out the wrong jacket and were willing to take absolutely no responsibility when we confronted them. My girlfriend had to stand out in the freezing cold in the middle of winter. All they said was sorry and they'll let us know if it turns up (been weeks now). Wouldn't even give the 5$ we paid for them to keep her coat safe back.

The staff were really nice, and the atmosphere was incredible, I haven't been to many places that boast an impressive arcade while also offering excellent food and drink. We had a lot of fun and would love to come by again sometime.

How do I start. The owner is a great guy. Goes down from there. Food cost is way high for horrible food. I can go to dominos for way less. The machines are far rigged. Was playing the lightning finger while friend video and it was about 10 seconds less time than what was originally displayed. The pirates game states you can win but only 1 of each of the rare pirates are in a deck of about 1000. same goes with the gary from sponge bob. the candy crush can not be won every time either. The staff always treat

Such a cool place. Not a ton of games but just the right ones. Cool drink menu..

The best part of this place is the hidden Jem in the basement. Vintage games from Qbert , Tron, paperboy. Galaga, and the juke box a must experience. Then the food, brick oven pizza! Just a great place all and all. Would definitely recommend to go multiple times!!

The game part was actually fun we had a blast using quarters but the service was pretty wack it toke a minute to have someone notice us waiting for seating, toke a few more minute for someone to take are order , then awhile for are food we ordered a salad and a pacman pizza, they gave my salad to the wrong table then back to me then 7 minutes later my daughter pizza, then it toke a minute for the bill to pay, they're was plenty of people working just not people staying busy cleaning tables or helping custo

Great barcade, and I go to lots of arcades. I can't speak to the food, because I didn't order any. I did order a sprite, and it was on the high side pricewise. These places aren't usually a go to spot for food other than appetizers and drinks anyway. Upstairs are kiddie casino redemption games and newer stuff. The retro dungeon downstairs is where it's at. Filled with some of the best classics from the 80s-90s you will find at an arcade, inconsistent pricing on the arcade cabs, but overall very reasonable.

Happened to drive by and decided it looked interesting so stopped for supper. Arcade games for every age and good food made for a great evening. Don't forget to check out the basement.

This is quite possibly my favorite bar in all of the United States. Not only is press Start a bar but it also hosts a plethora of Arcade games and I mean pretty much every old game ever made. They also serve food such as pizza and wings and your run of the mill bar food with a twist. The drinks here are great having their own video game-themed drinks. If you are in Rapid city and looking for a drink, stop in here and enjoy yourself.

The atmosphere is awesome! They have a full menu and bar. There burgers are also made fresh!Old school games in the basement and newer games on the main floor. The kids and adults had a blast!

We decided to take some family time and visit Press Start. We were expecting to have a concession style lunch - but the food was certainly not that! Super delicious! All of the staff was kind and helpful. Owners of the establishment also were there working just as hard as their employees, which always impresses me! We will visit again for sure.

Food is good, service is friendly, and it's a nice place if you enjoy arcades.

Neat little place, it wasn't busy at all on a wednesday afternoon. Bar had lots of options and there is an atm inside to get cash as well as a quarter machine so super convenient. Everyone was friendly and it was cool to play the retro games.

This was a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't to crowded and the noise wasn't over bearing. We had a great lunch and the food tasted great. The staff were super nice.

Had our twins' birthday party here, and they had a blast! Got a lot with the package, which was a great price, the staff was very helpful and friendly throughout! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a birthday party location, young or old! Their friend just had a party there as well, and still a great time!

This is definitely a place for kids if you are doing a birthday party. Our waiter was nice and helpful. He got slammed though. Understanding this, I went to the bar. A lady named Anna helped grabbed a few things for my daughter?s birthday party. She was amazingly sweet. I apologize for coming to her a few times. She told me it was no bother, that she was more than happy to help! She made the experience there better. We will be back here!

We always have such a great night as a family coming here! We love coming here so much, we had our son's birthday party here. Dylan was absolutely amazing as a server!!! He truly make the whole experience even better!!! Don't lose him:)

Food was good not great, ordered epic nachos. pulled pork was a little salty but good overall. Ordered the humpty pizza flavor was great over all appearance could have been better for woodfire pizza. Oven didn't seem hot enough and the cook finished off the pizza with a torch, he seemed more interested in his phone. Service was ok, waiter was attentive but bartenders liked to hang out in the back room. Games were fun, would be enjoyable for children of all ages. Love being able to use quarters and getting p

I went during the day with my young nephew and some family. The games give out tickets upstairs but the ones downstairs are just older and don't. Some of the ones downstairs don't seem to run very long and seemed like a waste of money. The Pac-Man game was pretty good. The games upstairs really vary on how many tickets you get. I liked the let's make a deal game but ended up with 3 tickets. Seems like you're best bet if you want tickets is to just do the claw game that grabs tickets. The pizza was pr

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! Last night was our first visit to Press Start and we were absolutely blown away! My boyfriend and I are life long ?nerds? and have a very high love and appreciation for Nintendo and classic (or ?retro?) arcade games. This place has a great atmosphere that caters to every age. Upstairs is great for kids as it gears more to new arcade style games where you can win tickets for prizes. The bar absolutely took us by surprise! Not only were the drinks all in

SO MUCH FUN! We make it a point to go each time we're in town. They have a great craft beer selection, both on tap and in bottles/cans, and the games are great. They have many of the classics and they are in wonderful condition. Probably our favorite place in Rapid City!

Big barcode fan. This one has some of the best features of all. Pinball, 80s/90s arcade, and console gaming area. Upstairs the kids played redemption games. The pinballs and games I played were maintained well. No kids after 10pm. You can also redeem your tickets for adult beverages. We were rained out of other activities on the sat we went, so this was a great stop for the family.

Super cool restaurant! They have game themed alcoholic drinks and food. Vintage games below the main restaurant down stairs. The pizza and drinks were great! It was our kids' favorite place to go in Rapid city for food.

I love arcades and press start did not disappoint fun for the kids and nostalgia for me. Definitely worth stopping by.

This place is crazy trash after like 7pm, avoid it, unless you're looking for a crazy experience. There's a chance you might get stabbed/shot, even with all the security. Drinks are extremely expensive, a vodka Red Bull is 10$ Before that time it's a good family friendly establishment, and they have great old games to play on.

We visited Rapid City for a family trip and loved Press Start so much for ourselves and our teens that we went back again the next night.

Cool place to play games both modern and retro. Grab a beer and some pizza and enjoy two levels of gaming. Downstairs has tons of retro games that will have you feeling nostalgic and the main level has ticket focused gaming for the kids. Food was good, service was friendly and a full bar to enjoy.

Great pizza, fun environment, and the staff are friendly. Great place to take the kids.

Our server Dylan was sooo friendly and took great care of us! Thanks Dylan!!

This place is always great and fun for the family! We wish they'd add more foods and think that burgers would be a great addition. The pizza only menus make the place a little more childish and really limit what we can have for lunch. We love the drink menu and the atmosphere.

The food is good. It is a fun environment to go to with friends.

Everything was amazing! The staff was attentive and kind and were very eager to meet my party's needs. I received my food and drink quickly and tasted wonderful! I highly recommend trying the Peach Ring Margarita (courtesy of one of the bartenders). The variety of retro and new arcade games kept things interesting and keeps you there for hours! I definitely will be visiting again.

It has some cool retro arcade games. Several games were broken and we had to get help to get the coins back or get the machine fixed. They have the stickiest floors ever! It's like they mopped the floor with soda. Food took a long time and was mediocre. I wouldn't go back.

Press Start is fun for all ages! There's a restaurant, bar, and games all over the place. The design was really cool, including lots of tie-ins to relevant gaming culture. The wait staff was great, and the bartender was especially accommodating. I love off- beat places like this, and I will be returning!

Our first time there and we did their top birthday package level. We loved everything about it. Food was some of the best pizza we've had in a while. Service was super great and attentive. Only one chef was on that early in the day so we could only do pizza, but they were accommodating within that and found something I could eat with my allergies. The old classic arcade games downstairs are great and we can't wait to go back.

This place has something for everyone. Ticket games for the kids (and the young at heart), video slots for adults, and plenty of pinball, modern, and retro games. Some are custom made, like Fix-It Felix Jr from the movie Wreck-It Ralph. I did not try any food or drink.

Drinks were great, enjoyed them while playing old retro games, was so much fun. I couldnt believe how inexpensive it was, I compare this to Dave and Busters and Boomers. You cant, it is so much better, food people everything. This has to be on your to do list in Rapid City.

Loved the 80?s arcade games - everything just like I remembered it! Very good food & service!

Becca was cool but I tried talking to Jaiden about walking into the men's room while me and my bf were pooping. Then ask for our stamp with five guys no knocking . I asked for the owners but they dodged the question. ..

Had a fun time, came here with a couple friends to celebrate my birthday. Our server was nice, a game broke and it got fixed right away. Lovely people, and a fun environment.

First off, it was incredibly busy when we visited (Saturday night) so maybe the somewhat poor service and meh food was impacted by the overwhelming amount of people there. The games (both the newer ticket machines upstairs and the old school games downstairs) were terrific and the main reason to go. The entire facility is decked out in a really cool video game theme and we enjoyed just looking around at everything while waiting for our food. Too bad the food was just alright and somewhat pricey. My family

First visit there. This is a multi level club and doubles as a club after hours. They have food, drinks and arcade games. The lower level features 80's games, which was amazing. The upper level is more modern where you can earn tickets to cash in. We didn't stay until it turned into a club but if it's anything like the arcade setup... It's awesome. Also it has multiple full bars so you can drink while you play.

Press Start Bar is a popular spot for entertainment in the city, and it's not hard to see why. The moment you step in it feels like you're stepping into a modern arcade that got converted into a bar up top, buts keeps its classic roots on the lower floor. The bright and cute atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, perfect for a night of nostalgia. The classic arcade machines downstairs add to the charm if you like grungier 80s, create the perfect ambiance for a fun evening out regardless of your preference on wha

I absolutely love this place so much, the bartenders are incredibly nice and the games are radical. I love the nostalgia on the down stairs games, really gets you in the feels!! The drinks are absolutely delicious, i had a Yoshi's island and WHEW that was heckin nice!

Pure fun! Oregon-trail millennials and older generations will love the old school games while there is a mix of newer games for the kids. Greatly appreciate the ability to trade tickets in for drinks rather than having to buy another stuffed animal. Bartenders were great and the seasonal drinks were a fun homage to the theme.

Im a gamer 4 life! I used to help support a place called Overclock lounge which was a hangout spot for gamers on Sturgis road RCSD back in the day donating new PlayStations 4s and 5s...Xbox Series consoles.. Nintendo Switches .. 42 inch UHD 4k TVS for tournaments etc.... so of course I support Press Start! They are about that gaming. Old-school gaming at that which is awesome! Kid friendly environment parents. Take notes!!! Celebrated my birthday there one year and had a great time! Food was good. The s

Games here are so fun. Nightlife is amazing. Food is a little overpriced and ok.

This is one of the hottest spots downtown. We came on a Saturday night and it was packed. You are carded and a hand wand is ran to check for any weapons. Do not bring a purse or backpack because you won't be allowed in. There is a bar upstairs and downstairs, however it's a long wait to get a drink at either bar. The basement has games from pinball and guitar hero to shooter games and ski ball. Upstairs has all the ticket games and the prize booth. Also upstairs is their dance floor during the weekend night

2024 update: Pizza was well cooked and tasted better this time! The arcade has less broken games. This place is still missing classic rhythm games. I can't believe they still don't have anything of the like over here. Starcade up in MN listened to the advice and tried rhythm games. They never went back and now they have a community and 5 games. Eightyone arcade in Sioux falls had 1 game 2 years ago. Now they have 6. Overall, I feel people in their 20s-30s have less reason to visit. Children and older crowd

they don't play any fetty wap or dance dance revolution :( edit: they played fetty wap

I am not a huge pizza gal, but the whole family was raving about it. The games were entertaining to all. They staff are amazing.

The only issue we have is getting a table. Food is worth the wait ??

Fun place for kids or adults. They seemed understaffed but were quick to help and assist everyone.

Great for kids and adults. A great amount of video games and the pizza is awesome. Try their amazing adult drinks.

Get ready to fill your Red Solo Cup with quarters and have some fun! The upstairs is filled with kid friendly ticket games, tickets are used to redeem for prizes. The downstairs is filled with arcade games for every age. There is a bar upstairs and downstairs. The food is ok. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The adults and kids all had an amazing time!

I absolutely LOVE what they have done with their new location! I've always loved this place but now it's even better! Didn't know that was possible! We went out on a date night, service was great, our waitress Alex was awesome! She was very attentive, suggested some good menu options and gave us a few laughs throughout the night. Food was great, and the games were fun as always! If you're wanting a fun night out all in one location and love games, this is the place to go!

Great drink options. Feel comfortable taking the bartenders recommendations! Games are fairly priced!

Our family went with another family, and we had a blast. I had the nachos and was mildly disappointed, but my wife had wings, and the kids had various pizzas and burgers and they really enjoyed them. But honestly, this place is much more about the atmosphere (arcade games!) than the food. Give the kids $10 and turn them loose. Both families had a blast!

Updated Review: All of my previous concerns seem to be fixed. Press Start is a lot of fun. The food is great, and the place is quite an experience.

Best place on earth. I tell everyone about it in my travels. Love the games, and the pizza is great. I love that it turns into a dance club but wish we had other dance places for the more experienced drinkers

I was super excited to try Press Start because I have heard how fun arcade bars/restaurants can be. Unfortunately, I was let down by several aspects of the facility. We were asked to wait to be seated when we entered, but no one ever came to seat us. We ended up asking a young worker where we could sit. He told us the only open seats were at the bar, so we sat at the bar. We were helped right away, but the soda was flat and watered down. After placing our order, we received almost no help. We ordered an app

While the restaurant was packed with people, they were either standing around or sitting at the bar. But, there were several tables open to sit for dinner. People have to wait to be seated, so while there were tables that were unoccupied and we could have been seated, we literally stood for an hour - waiting to be seated at a table. If the tables would have all been occupied with patrons, it would have been understandable. But, they were not. We won't be back. As for the restaurant- it combines an arcade st

Great place to play arcade games and hang out with friends. Super nice bartenders and staff. A must go to barcade on the weekends.

It's been a few years since I was last here. Tried their bacon mac pizza it was good, good amount of cheese, good sauce choice. It tasted better than cici's version of a mac and cheese pizza. Their system initially said they didn't have it, but they did. The server was nice enough to check, and i appreciate that. It wouldn't hurt for them to keep a better inventory in their system to make their servers jobs a bit easier. They do have a good selection of reteo games downstairs, and i enjoyed them. My main g

Lots of fun for almost any age! Just being a pocket of quarters and an empty belly!

We love this place. Great games, food and drink. However, they are not wheelchair friendly. We celebrated a birthday party there and a guest of ours was in a wheel chair. The VIP booth only had stairs leading up to it so we put our guest at a table on the main floor nearest the VIP. The hostess approached us and said ?you can't sit here? and that I needed to check in with the hostess. I walked back to the hostess and asked why we weren't able to sit at the table nearest the VIP booth for the birthday party.

My favorite place to take my kids. My friends and I take our kids on weekends or after school and have a great night. Tons of games for all ages. The food is good and they have a full bar along with non alcoholic choices. They need a second location for weekends because it's so packed and skiball is overpriced but all in all still a rad place to have some good fun. Definitely check them out.

Great arcade/bar. Has the perfect feel of an arcade. Plus a just right amount of dive bar feeling. Most games only a quarter. Good music, adjusted to what the crowd is getting into. Friendly staff. Great selection of games. Under 21 allowed until 10 pm. Reasonably priced beer and drinks. Specials daily.

Finally visited this location after a long time wanting to. Bottom line this place was a ton of fun! The best part is they serve great alcohol drinks and boy were they strong...which was a good thing. Arcade while drinking was actually way more fun than I thought. Classic games and fun ticket winning games made the entire night a blast. Rapid City is small and doesn't have a Dave and Busters yet but Press Play is just as much fun so no one is missing out!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
