Super fun place. We were visiting from out of town and came based on a YouTube video my kid saw. It was the most fun and unique putt putt golf I have ever seen. We all had a great time. The only disappointment was that there was no merch.

Very fun place! Found out it's been open for 3 years, and we just heard about it. Very glad we checked it out. The easy course has some fun twists on the standard mini golf and the kids loved it.

Not your ordinary putt putt course. Extra challenges at every hole determines where you tee off from. You get to play disc golf, fooseball, basketball and much more all while playing putt putt.

5 Stars! We had such a great time at Prehistoric Putt! My husband and I brought our kids along with some family friends and their little ones, and it was fun for everyone?no matter their age. The course was creative and entertaining, and the price was very reasonable for the experience. The staff was friendly and the customer service was great from start to finish. Highly recommend for a family outing or group activity?can't wait to come back!

The place was fun but smelled moldy/mildewy. They said they had a water issue that weekend and the place was still drying out. Minus the smell, it was fun for indoor mini golf

Really cool concept for mini golf. Each hole was unique in its own way. The arcade was really fun and FYI, they do not have a ticket prize counter. Watch out for kids running into dinosaurs like my kid did.

Neat mini golf course. Probably the most creative course I have ever been to. Hit the golf ball with a baseball bat through a net, use a chipping wedge to hit the ball over a block, etc. Would highly recommend checking it out!

I took 4 ten year olds girls. We had a ball. Only 40 bucks. We will be returning!!!

Friendly and fun. Great prices and even adults get to play for free on their birthday which was a nice surprise. They have some stuff they are working in but it didn't ruin the experience. Would recommend.

My sister, niece, and I found this on yet another snow day. The reviews re-inforced that it was good, but honestly, it was better than I expected! The hole set-up for many of them is not your typical putt putt. We played both 18 hole courses but want to go back for the 9 hole course!

We had a blast! Check out my pics too see how cool this place set up their mini golf! We picked the 18 course and then we were having so much fun, we did the other 18 course. Each course is different every shot is different! We didn't do the 21 and over course yet or the golf stimulator. We will definitely be back to do both! This course is great for all ages. We had a group of 4 we split up and did different courses. Ended about the same time. Each course takes 45 min to hr to complete. They have alcohol

The staff were super nice and super helpful! We went for a birthday and had SO MUCH fun! We played 2 courses.the first one was had different obstacles and hard to make the putt. The second course that we did you had to do different challenges to do, the better you do on the challenges the closer you got to start at to make the putt.

Online pictures looked pretty cool, but I wasn't sure what to expect. This is indoor mini golf, which normally means kinda boring and lacking content and difficulty...THIS IS NOT THE CASE. First off, the guy at the customer service desk was really kind and helpful. The prices were great. There are two courses you can play. For a family of 3, it ended up being around $18 per course. After a military discount, we paid $36 to play both courses. Both courses were moderatly difficult. The course was set up to be

This place is so amazing. It is indoors, has 3 courses that have different levels of difficulty and each hole has a gimmick which gives the experience a nice spin. Definitely recommend going with family or a fun date.

Seriously the coolest mini golf place I have ever been to! We had a blast! I've done both 18 hole courses and the 9 hole adults only course. All were so much fun! Love how they add in interesting extras and the addition of a mini game on each hole of the adult course was super cool. I would highly recommend checking this place out!!!

Maddie checked us in and was delightful!! Fun and unique courses to choose from. Our group decided we had to come back to try the other courses (and we hope Maddie is working that night too lol)

It's kinda cheesy as expected but fun with a group. Employees seem quite bored. A mini tour or tutorial would have been cool. Otherwise, quite fun. Adults might wanna expect to go around 2-3 times to maximize the fun.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon with the grandkids to celebrate the youngest for his 7th birthday. Everyone had a wonderful time playing and watching the fun they were having. Sure looking forward to other concepts to come, and with so many retail spaces going empty, it sure seems like a good way to expand other themes with education and fun.

I had a great time. Very creative course. Some just silly but definitely not your average putt putt! More giggles, kids were excited to try every lane. Pretty fun! (And pretty affordable!)

I loved our experience here! The activities are unique and unlike any other golfing experience that we have been to! It was so fun to spin the wheels for each hole and to make it more challenging also! Hope to be back real soon!

We went for my seven-year-old grandson's birthday party and he loved it. It was an interesting concept of mini golf combining it with a variety of other sporting events. It was laid out in a very interesting way the only problem was that if you have big parties in front of you that take forever you stand around and wait a lot but if you go with the idea of just having fun it's a wonderful family experience and it's a good way to spend a family day

Very nice, new indoor golf facility. They have 3 courses, 2 18 hole ones, which you can play both at a discount, and a 9 hole one for adults only. The courses themselves have a large variety of holes with unique playing experiences. We enjoyed both 18 holes courses a lot.

Great course with very inventive and artistic holes. Indoor means you can go on any weather! Cost is $10 per 18 hole course and the holes are a bit short, but we had fun with all of the interactive components. If you purchase two courses, you can play the second for $5 per adult There is an adult course that allows purchase of adult beverages. My teenagers were hoping to do the basketball hole, but access to this one was adults only.

It was good. We went during the week, so no one ahead and no one behind. We had 5 - 2 adults, 3 kids - and it was about $40. Parking was easy. Had a little candy machine and soda machine. Candy machine was cash only. The mini golf itself was unique and not easy.

What a fun experience! We drive 2.5hrs for this place and it was well worth it! This mini golf is dinosaur themed and interactive. From 'spin the wheel' to a mini zip line, there was something for each hole. There are 2 18-hole family courses and 1 9-hole adults-only course where you can get beer during your game.

A little bit history for this place on Hyway 40 ! Mr Irwin E Patterson ( born in 1900 ) Mrs Caroline Ruth Weller Patterson ( born 1903 ) built this Putt Putt Golf place in Kansas City in the 1950 , after they had built one in St Joseph MO. The family built two other PPG places, one in Lincoln NB, the other in Topeka KS . These were the earliest of these types of family gathering places in the country and probably in the world. Their daughter Mrs Patricia Patterson Tursi PhD who worked in the business when s

It was our fault. We picked a busy time. Our grandchildren are 6 and 4. We just felt we were being rushed through, and they didn't get to take their time and learn the basics of holding a club. Great place for older children and adults.

Excellent time and great customer service. Frankie greeted us the second we walked in, was very thorough and just a great person to be around. I played all three courses and had a really good time. Great for families, a quick date, or just to get away and enjoy a prehistoric distraction. Definitely swing by and check them out!

Had a blast with the family. Although the arcade games were off or not working Clean friendly staff. lot's of fun ??

This place is great! It is indoors so you don't have to worry about Missouri weather, priced well, more interesting than regular mini golf and has gold simulators as well. Go on Thursday or Sunday to avoid the rush and bring cash for the drinks ($2-$4).

This is exactly the putt putt you want where each hole has a unique gimmick. For the adults be sure to do the 21+ course that has even more advanced games involved. A whole lot of fun and a very reasonable cost. You even get free games on your birthday!

Unbelievably creative holes. Has 2 - 18hole courses and 1 - 9 hole adults only course. Adults only has games you have to play at each hole to see who goes 1st. Very very creative. Very well maintained and everything is inside. It was super busy when we were there on a Saturday afternoon so expect to be patient and wait.

This place is awesome. Super cheap with sooo many cool and unique designs. I'm not usually a huge fan of mini golf but I loved it.

This was our first time at Prehistoric Putt and we enjoyed it! The attendant working was very kind. We came here specifically because we had been to The Fat Putter in Omaha and found out online that Prehistoric Putt is owned by the same people. We did have fun playing the 9 rounds on the 21+ course, but were expecting a little more fun because we had so much fun at TFP in Omaha. Please do some upgrades to Prehistoric Putt! This is such a unique concept for mini golf and makes it so much more fun than tradit

The staff are courteous and go above and beyond to accomodate! We went last week and they have added arcade games to the lobby area, the blue course was so much fun (we only did 18 holes) and the boys had a lot of fun! So glad to have an indoor putt putt option close to home! Keep doing what you are doing guys!

Do you like playing mini golf and sinking those long putts around obstacles? Well then this place isn't for you. This sure is a different take on mini golf and it could be fun for children but not really for us. Each hole has you do something different to tee off instead of just putting it. There were some decent holes but most of them sucked as mini golf holes. The worst thing about the blue course is that all the holes are small but impossible for kids. It took almost 2 hours to finish because we were st

What a nice treat to have this place close to home and more fun than I thought it would be! There are three courses to choose from. The difficult course which we did (18 holes), an easier course, and an adult course which only has nine holes and I am guessing you could have libations on this course! There a couple arcades & a golf simulation you can do for $45 an hour and up to six people. What makes this indoor mini golf experience unique, is the fact that at each hole, there is a sign to read to tell y

Pros: Really unique minigame style of minigolf. Really fun, definitely going back to do the other 2 courses (1 course took about 1.5 hours with a party of 9). There's a zipline, loopty-loop, t-ball, crossbow, and pinball etc. Cons: can get kinda hot, considering the weather was so cool today. It is a compact 3 courses so there's not much room for a large party to stand while others golf. Some places should have more mesh netting or plexy to be "safer". Definitely thinking there's gonna be injuries in the f

This place would be an amazing experience if it was clean. There is an awful mold smell everywhere and the floors are literally wet. I slipped on a part of the course because the bottom of my shoes were soaked from the floor. So it's riddled with mold and everyone is just breathing that in? very unfortunate. The only reason I couldn't give 1 star is because the course itself is very creative and fun. We would come back if we weren't afraid of getting sick!

This place was awesome, we played the easy course. They had a difficult, and also which would be super fun an adult course where alcohol is allowed. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends.

I love to play mini golf and had been to a lot of them. This place is in the top 3. 10/10 would come again

Super fun! The holes move along pretty well and the holes aren't boring at all. It's fun for the whole family.

This place was interesting. The wholes for adults aren't challenging, they are like games you play for each hole and the winner/loser just determines how far you stand from the hole when you shoot. I can't wait for an adult only day, we got there when they opened on a Sunday and the Adult course was super fun but when we tried to go to the other course for like kids and families that had challenging holes, it was PACKED with a line waiting to start the first hole. Nice facility for indoor mini golf.

I was really impressed with their creativity and unique put out course. It was a little busy on a Friday evening but the line moved fluently and smoothly. Everyone of all ages seemed to be having a great time.

Totally worth the drive from Edgerton, KS! Fun challenges with some golf thrown in for a unique experience! Very affordable too and they give teacher discounts! My husband and I came on our own for a day date but this would be fun with another couple, family teams, or a team building event! We will definitely be back!

I was having a horrible day yesterday when Premier bowling in raytown stole $143 from me. I still wanted to treat my children so I took the loss and found something else to do. We settled on Prehistoric Putt. Upon entering, I was greeted kindly by the lady at the desk. She could tell I was frustrated by my facial expression and tone of voice. I didn't mean to project it. I explained to her what happened at the bowling alley. A man with pink hair came up the counter and offered me a service that was above an

This place is amazing! We had so much fun! This is a great new take on mini golf. I went with three 14 year olds and they loved it. I think any age would love it though. Gunn was so helpful and explained our game choices. We will definitely be back!

Prehistoric Putt was an experience! It was busy but the lines moved fairly quickly. The holes were so creative! We played the red course and it took us two hours. They also have a blue course which is more difficult and then a 21+ option. Best thing about this course is that it is indoors and it felt clean.

Very cool place. Cute and quirky for kids, but still fun enough for a group of adults. Not terribly expensive. Will probably be here a lot this winter

We went w family members, 6 played- FR about 6pm - just beating a rush of young families. We played the Blue course- which was challenging- especially for our two young adult ?below par? golfers! Lots of variety & imagination to the holes. All of us enjoyed our time together & some healthy (mostly) competition! We'll be back next time we visit!

Place is amazing!! Such a friendly and fun experience. I would definitely recommend. They also offer 21+ courses but, definitely your monies worth!! Please go and check them out! The courses are like nothing before!

Super fun!!! Best put golf experience I've had to date. My littles enjoyed it to close out birthday celebrations for my 9yr old. The dino theme, the obstacles, the staff, the atmosphere... I loved it. I'd recommend this place for entire family fun and/or date nights/days ??. The prices are great as well. Quality time that doesn't have to bust the budget wide open.??

Facility is clean, courses are excellent and well maintained. Always fun for us when we go.

Prehistoric Putt is an awesome, unique, creative, and fun place to play putt-putt golf, but the floors are wet, and it smells like mold and cat pee. I really wish they would fix this issue because I would like to go back.

We had an absolute blast! Considering pricing of other locations for birthday parties this was amazing. 5pm party got access to set up before time, got to bring food and drinks. looking forward to hosting more events here!

A bit whacky, but what's not to love about dinos and putt putt? Unorthodox features and challenges on each hole while also being super affordable. We had a blast

Great time, awesome courses! The simulators have some fun game options, good time with friends. Lars and Gunn were very helpful taking care of us!

The kids and I absolutely loved this place! The theme and design was perfect! We will definitely be back!!!

Very fun atmosphere with a exciting courses available for reasonable prices. Good for family outings and friends night out.

Hitting balls under the butts of dorky dinos...a great time will be back to try the adult only route

My friends and I stopped by prehistoric putt on a road trip though Missouri and absolutely loved it! The staff was very thoughtful, patient and personable. The courses were unique, fun, and when you needed it to be, challenging! And it was all affordable, highly recommend stopping here if you can! They also have other games and activities.

We had a good time. We chose the hard course it was busy but we made it work in between by doing extra puts until the next party ahead of us cleared.

Great fun for the whole family. Price was excellent for a large family.

Great addition to Missouri! The different obstacles keep it entertaining and interesting! My kiddo loved it

Had a great time! We were there on a Thursday evening so it wasn't busy at all. There were 11 of us so we could play together without worrying about holding others up. The holes had fun variations. They are adding video games which might make it really loud and annoying...we'll see. There's also a party room. Plenty of parking and an accessible entrance but the courses aren't accessible. They have one course which is 21+ and they sell canned beer if you're using this one.

The staff are super friendly but the place is always so crowded. You always have a group inmediately in front of you and then a group pushing you from the back. They need to control congestion better because you're constantly rushing to finish you hole so the people behind you can go and then you get stopped by the ones in front of you. Having padding time between each group would help. Everyone just lines up and the line stretches across the lobby

Very impressive place. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will come back for sure.

Had a blast playing all 3 course. The 21+ course was our favorite with creative challenges and awesome decor. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly will be returning!

Not your typical mini golf. Every hole is mini golf with a bit of a twist. Lots of fun had by both adults and our 5th grader. Wish we had found this place before.

Wasn't sure what to expect and we were completely delighted - so fun for both adults and kids. Did both the adults-only 9-hole course with extra competitive games and added on one of the two 18-hole courses. Imaginative, affordable and different way to spend an afternoon. Friendly staff and well maintained. Will definitely be back!

We had no idea what his place had been here! I want to tell everyone it sucked just so we can keep this gem to ourselves but in actuality we had a FANTASTIC time! On a side note: Dear Parents, This is an awesome place to take your kiddos. To the parents with the three kids behind us, your tween daughter is too old to not know how to wait her turn.

Awesome and surprisingly affordable for what they offer. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Some of the holes feel unreasonably tough if you're not an adult who can wallop the ball up a half pipe or loop de loop but both 18 hole courses are so creative that it's hard to fault them too much. Sure the zip line feels like a death trap but I admire the ingenuity!

Very different types of miniature golf. Love it. Fun place.

It's a great place for some family bonding. They have levels of difficulty and we selected the the easier path. I think the ball return at the end is the highlight!

Had a great time here for my brother-in-law's birthday. We did all three courses and had a blast! Would absolutely visit again!

I had a blast at Prehistoric Putt with my nephew. We chose the adventure course, which had some amazing holes with dinosaurs, crossbows, and even a zip line. The course was well-maintained and the staff was friendly and helpful. The zip line was a highlight for me, as it was thrilling and fun. The course was not too easy or too hard, and we had a great time competing with each other. Prehistoric Putt is a must-visit for anyone looking for a fun and unique mini golf experience in Independence. The place was

Most unique and fun mini-golf course I've ever played! As the other reviews say, there's little mini games along the way. My family and I only got to play the red course but that's enough for us to want to come back for the other course!! There were awesome dinosaur sculptures everywhere. They also included couches/benches throughout the course to sit and rest at. Highly recommend for all ages.

Great cool indoor mini golf place!

This is (I think) my fourth time playing mini golf here. It's always a fun time. This time, however, we had to fill out a waiver (probably for some complicated legal reasons), so just be aware of that going in if you haven't gone recently.

Great mini golf place. Very interesting holes that have a bit of variance in how it is played. Unique experience and highly recommend.

It's such a fun place, rain or shine! Three courses to choose from, including the 21+ 9-hole with extra challenges at each hole. (Bonus: Alcohol purchase and consumption may add some fun to the challenges!) Also, a multigame screen for everything from golf to dodgeball! Ian and Maddy were very helpful and friendly in their customer service. We will be back!

It's definitely a fun option! I appreciate the creativity and the option for 21+ line. The AC can't quite keep up on the super hot and humid days unfortunately, we were sweating after about 5 minutes. It's a bit cramped, there's a lot put into a space not really equipped to house it. Overall it's a solid option though

What ridiculous putt golf starts with a table and "green" at table height. It was a terrible experience. I paid $40ish for my whole family to be disgusted by this place. We couldn't deal with grossness of the place and wasn't able to get a refund. I have "free tickets" instead for a place that no one wants to go to. It's been a year plus. Won't be going back ever. Give my money back.

It is an amazing place for the kids and adults can enjoy it too

Had a lot of fun, great place for kids.

Entertaining and affordable! I recently hosted a birthday party in their party room for 1hr. Prices were $75 for one hour and $100 for two. They supplied plastic cups, cutlery, and plates. The room also had a fridge. I feel like the room could have had 40-50 people in it and it was a nice, clean space. People who participated in the party room reservation got 20% off golfing and I was even able to apply my gift card to my party room reservation fee! The course was in good shape and we were able to ease ri

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are virtual reality games in arcades worth playing?

Yes, virtual reality (VR) games in arcades are a top attraction in 2025! Titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx deliver immersive thrills with cutting-edge headsets, motion tracking, and responsive controllers. High-resolution displays and spatial audio create heart-pounding experiences, from slashing rhythms to battling zombies. Arcades feature multiplayer VR zones and tournaments, fostering lively communities. VR booths are regularly packed, proving their captivating, next-level gameplay makes them a must-try arcade experience.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
