Playland's Castaway Cove

Playland's Castaway Cove

Playland's Castaway Cove is overwhelmingly praised as a family-friendly amusement park with a great variety of rides for all ages. Reviewers highlight the reasonable ticket prices (which never expire), friendly staff, and well-maintained attractions. Many appreciate the clean environment, COVID-19 safety measures, and the park's expansion after a fire. A few negative mentions include parking difficulties, occasional rude staff, and minor issues like empty hand sanitizers or misleading concessions. Wonderful, family-friendly amusement park right on the boardwalk. Affordable ride tickets that do not expire! Great rides for kids of varying ages as well. Definitely recommend!

love it here. we buy a tremendous amount of tickets each year for our family. we had a very special and nice time today and never issues usually. except at the carousel around 4:30pm. the young man running the ride was very rude to my autistic son. he was not ?misbehaving? or any thing whatsoever. just very cold and was pretty unfriendly to me as well. i did not catch his name. i wish i did. he was obviously still in school and very young. i just wish these teens were taught manners and respect these days.

I love this place for the kids! It has a few good rides for the little ones and the bigger kids! The only thing is that the tickets are a little pricey if you don't get them on sale... other than that, the workers are sooo nice and don't forget to leave a tip for the ones working the food lines... they are mostly college students trying to make some summer money ??!

I've been taking my kids to Castaway Cove for years now. I missed last summer, but that was due to medical issues and not due to the park itself. The kids absolutely love going and usually want to go on the rides multiple times. When it gets dark, the park lights up nicely, as seen in my photos. It's usually crowded, but we still never waited too long for a ride. If you hit the times right like we have sometimes, you don't have much of a line at all. There are food stands such as a Dairy Queen right next to

Very nice family oriented environment. Most of the rides were 2 to 6 tickets. Ticket bundles are available for purchase online and in the park. They had a very good selection of rides for all ages.

Today, I was at Castaway Cove with my son. We purchased a Mega Book ($150!!) in hopes of having a great time. After a few rides, he went down the big slide. On the big slide he became airborne, went flying backwards, slammed sideways and injured his elbow pretty badly. I ran over and tended to him near a bench. While tending to my son, our Mega Book of tickets was stolen off the bench we had thrown our pile of stuff on, since we obviously were more focused on the extent of injury. We reported the ticket the

Unforgettable Fun at Castaway Cove Stepping into Castaway Cove is akin to entering a vibrant storybook brought to life, a place where joy, laughter, and childlike wonder echo in every corner. Tailored to delight little ones and the young at heart, the park boasts a delightful variety of rides and attractions, ensuring smiles all around. The charm of this amusement park lies in its thoughtful assortment of rides. There's a well-balanced blend of gentle attractions for the littlest adventurers and more thri

We went as part of a school fundraiser, so it was busy. The lines weren't long. Almost all rides were going even this early in the season. It was a good time. Parking, and a 10 block detour were an issue though.

Great rides, perfect family environment for a ton of fun during those summer nights. They just replaced the pirate ship at the main entrance with a huge pirate and parrot who can be seen for a few miles along the boardwalk and it looks amazing, can't wait to bring the kiddos there again this summer! Friendly staff, lots of different rides for all ages, including a brand new arcade, train around the entire park and daring rollercoasters. Wish their ferris wheel was larger but overall an incredible place for

So much wholesome fun for the family. This is one of the few places left where you cam take your kids and the crowd is good, the staff is good and its just plain fun We've been here a hundred times. This time we were there on a night that a storm rolled in really quick right after we got on the ferris wheel. These pics were from the top. The staff was great and shut everything down quickly and gave us our tickets back.

I've been going here since I was a child, and now I get to bring my children here. It is always clean, well maintained, and a load of fun. The rides are safe and the lines to get on don't take very long even on their busiest nights. The location is perfect.

Fun for the kids (and some adults). Not the biggest place, but they pack a lot of variety and rides in and make a good use of the space they do have. The tickets are pricey, however, as they charge as you ride, with most being the equivalent of about $4-$14/each.

This is a fun place to bring your kids for some family fun but I have one problem and that is with buying at the concession that sells cotton candy and the bag they have advertised is full bursting at the seams with cotton candy but what you get is a half of bag. Well thats a scam and save your money and purchase elsewhere.

There are two lands on the board walk, PlayLand and WonderLand. PlayLand is amazing in that it has all the rides you could ask for, from the thrills, to the kiddy rides, and best of all, at a great price compared to Wonderland. In fact, there are a couple of rides at both lands that are identical, and PlayLand is 1-2 tickets cheaper. When you multiply that by a couple of kids, that's a huge savings. The only downside I can think of is the crowds could be very overwhelming. You can barely move on a weekend

Really nice place where you can take your kids and feel safe! Midway is the best on the OCNJ boardwalk. Rides, and general vicinity are kept CLEAN. Place is obviously well managed. Lots of responsible looking adults making sure that everything is fun, and SAFE! I am happy to bring my wife and kids here, and you should be too

I had a nice evening with my 7-yr old. The cove was busier than the boardwalk, but was easily manageable on a weeknight. The tickets ranged 2-6 tickets per ride; a lot more reasonable than the piers in Wildwood. Just know it's very difficult to find parking within 4 blocks.

We love it here we come here very often!! We love the rides! Prices are great you get more tickets than the pay. Wish the rides would last a bit longer tho. Big plus! Beach is close by you don't even have to walk far! The the boardwalk great place to eat Ocean eat end!! They have very big slices of pizza!!! Prices are great!!! Love coming here Playland?s Castaway Cove

Its small but the perfect size for a quick ride peir. Especially if you have kids who like to fight over anything lol they had a blast and it didn't feel like we had to stay to have it worth our money.

I didn't think I would have so much fun watching my kids scream their heads off on rides. Having no crowds or lines made our experience even better. Perfect rides for my 6,9,11 year olds as they got on all the rides. Surprisingly, my 6yr old who's 42" short was able to get on most of the older rides with an exception of a few. I would definitely recommend getting the unlimited ticket if you want to get on the biggest rollercoaster that requires 14 tickets. All other rides require 3-6 tickets. We ended our n

This is our grandson's favorite in the summers! He talked about it all winter asking when we can go back - he is 3! So many rides for the littles and bigs alike! And the preseason ticket sales are the way to go every Christmas and Easter!

My children and I loved it! We went before 4pm so the lines were really short. My children were able to ride all the rides, some more than once due to the short lines. After 6pm more people started coming and it got crowded quickly by then we was almost done at the park. The food was pretty good also!

Went couple times, last one was so crowded but still almost no wait for the rides. Fun place !!

Great rides in good working order with friendly staff and good food. Tickets never expire. Good value for your money compared to everything else on the boardwalk.

We love Playland's Castaway Cove! Even with the recent fire over the winter, Castaway Cove is ready to provide a family friendly experience full of fun and laughs! The park is clean and there are hand sanitizing stations outside of each ride. The staff wear masks and are very friendly. The kids, and kids at heart, will love having a great time at Playland's Castaway Cove!

Great OCNJ Baoardwalk Amusement Park Playland's Castaway Cove expanded in the past two decades to become the largest amusement park in Ocean City, NJ. All rides are pay-per with tickets, with the exception of the largest coaster, which you pay for seperately. Tickets are reasonable if you buy the bigger packs, and are good year-to-year. They have carnival-style games and amusements that are not included as well, some food and snacks. Rides vary from sedate, child-friendly car or train rides, swings, a

Great Family Fun in OCNJ. A variety of rides for all ages on the boardwalk. Prices are reasonable since you can prebuy them on the off season(winter) at a discount and they never expire.

Entry is free! Amazing shops and long boardwalk! The ticket prices for rides are purchasable at multiple booths, but if you want to just walk around, it's free! Enjoy the night and enjoy the sights! Expect a sea of people during On-Season time

Our family always has fun at Playland, even without the pirate ship out front (due to the fire). Great prices for tickets and a fair charge per ride. Always love the bumper cars and the swings n

Hands down fave amusements In cape may county Nj/ south jersey! Clean, fun, safe rides. Staff is attentive and take their jobs seriously. They make sure the kids are safe but having fun. The park is well set up for such a small space. Preferred place to take my kids for rides!

This mini amusement park is a lot of fun. It has a nice blend of rides for 12 and under. All ages are welcome but the thrill level is lower except one fun 48" and higher roller coaster. It's on the boardwalk so the location is easy to get to. Pricing is a dollar a ticket (2023) which can get pricey. They have multi-ticket discounts. You can also check for special days like 3hr unlimited wristbands and half price ticket sales in the off season. Rides are fun, there are plenty of snacks to eat. Definitely su

My 5 and 9 year old love going and enjoy the rides. Our three favorite of we had to choose because of height limit is... HURRICANE, THE PIRATE BOAT you have to sit on the very end of both rides to feel the adrenaline. And the OCTOPUS ride with the psss pssss sounds.

Great mini golf course. Many holes are setup for instant hole in 1 if you can over come the initial challenge. A lot of fun and challenging. Get there before 6 for savings and use the local coupon books to save another dollar off.

Good clean and fun place for a weekend getaway. This is mainly for kids but adults can enjoy for sure too. You need to get coupons for rides with each ride ranging from 2-5 coupons. There is a ferris wheel that gives a pretty nice view of the area. The boardwalk, the ocean, this play area and all the stalls and people around make for a merry weekend!

This is our favorite amusement park on the Ocean City board walk. We purchase discounted tickets prior to the season to help save money. There are many rides for young kids and some that will be fun for adults as well.

These are not all the pictures I have btw, but if you haven't been to Ocean City you must go. It is a family friendly ocean town, with beautiful beaches and the best boardwalk. It is not a college hangout and it's not really for teenagers. It is for adults or mature young adults who want peace and quiet down the shore, and for families.

This was our family's second trip out on Columbus Day weekend. We all had such a wonderful time.

Nice variety of rides, clean and no long lines. Tickets were EXPENSIVE and most rides took at least 4 tickets. I suppose this is to be expected. Kids had a great time and were safe, that's what's important!

The best ride there is Gale Force! It's $10 a ride but so worth it! It launches you in both directions and has so many twists & turns. Love it!!! It's located right by the boardwalk and ocean. There are many types of rides with 3 other coasters all together. Parking can be a hassle though so be prepared to search for a spot or pay $20-$25 to park.

A Thrilling Adventure on the Boardwalk Located on the iconic Ocean City boardwalk, Playland's Castaway Cove is a thrilling amusement park that promises fun and excitement for visitors of all ages. With its wide range of rides, games, and attractions, this beloved destination captures the essence of summertime fun and creates unforgettable memories for families and thrill-seekers alike. Thrilling Rides: 5/5 Playland's Castaway Cove offers an exhilarating array of rides that cater to every level of thrill-s

Had a school trip my daughter was excited. 0 parking in the whole town.. unbelievable. Waste of money if you can't even get to the place..

There is no other place like it! The children love every ride. It brings joy to see the smiles this place brings out. This is what life is all about!

Overcrowded with no room to walk and/or sit. With Wonderland closing down Castaway needs to adjust. The walkway to get in is same spot as the ticket booth so something needs to be done to widen the walkway or move the ticket booth elsewhere!

Absolutely a great place to take your kids too if your staying at the jersey shore.! There's all kinds of things to do. There's rides for all types of ages ????

Our kids were so excited to play some Haunted Mini golf, but unfortunately we were not impressed. They were blasting pop music loudly which didn't go with the theme. Also, the staff was not very friendly when we were asking questions prior to deciding to pay and play.

Great place if you can stand large crowds and long lines. Rides are cheaper than Jillians and great for teens.

What is not to like about these rides. The staff was keeping COVID-19 safety protocols in mind on most occasions and there was hand sanitizer located throughout the area however some were empty. Tickets are good forever if you are coming back year over year. Kids enjoyed the variety and there are different rides depending on age. We will be back next year.

Kids always have a great time and the view from the ferris wheel does it for me

Good place for little kids and teenagers to have fun. During the summer Friday and Saturday from 7-9pm it's very busy. Long waits and rides seem shorter time wise. Restroom are on the back side and parking lot on the back connects to the park, and then the boardwalk

Great place for the kids. Generally respectful patrons even when dealing with my son with asbergers. Great staff. A little iffy this past summer with the pandemic, could get crowded. Overall a good place to spend an afternoon or evening on the boards in the summer.

Rides are fantastic, prices are good for the area, but wow its crowded and line management is sorely needed. They have line fences for maybe 10 people, but at night there are 50 people in line, snaking all over the place! No idea where the line ends. Fortunately lines move decently quickly for most rides. Need fans in the gale force queue! Something to move air around. Its so stifling. Ride is very popular and props to them for running it well past close to allow the whole line to get through.

God Bless Andrew! What an amazing guy making an unforgettable experience for our roller coaster hunting family. Thank you so much!!! Gale Force is one to remember. ????

The best boardwalk Amusement park. Filled with great rides, great people, and lots of fun. The park is also very aesthetically pleasing and it is obvious it is cared for

My daughter loved it here! Rides were great. Plenty of rides for all ages!

Took our young kids (6 and 4) and they loved it. Lots of rides in a fairly tight space. So when it's crowded, it's very crowded. But the lines were still short and the everything seemed well maintained and safe. Good boardwalk rides overall.

Great family fun. There are rides for all ages. Clean and friendly environment.

What a great collection of rides! This Park manages to pack as many rides as they can into the space they have. Great for families and thrill seekers.

Overall very good quality rides at reasonable ticket prices for a boardwalk. Expect long waits during peak season but ride lengths and ticket costs/ride are fair. Also note that tickets never expire. It says so on their tickets. That's a major plus

Visited for a school field trip. Everything inside the pier was great. Figuring out how to get into the park was bit difficult with the construction still underway after the fire a while a back. Staff was super helpful. Excited to see what they do with the area that's currently under construction!

Had fun. The best ride is the big blue one.

Always a great time taking my son here year after year. Will miss the day of going on the kids rides with him when it comes.

We have been coming here with my son since he was born. This is his 7th year now. There has been something for him to explore every year. Love that we can use our tickets every year we come there's no expiration date. Found some tickets from 2015 I used this year! He try something new every year and it's one of the many things we look forward to when coming to OC.

Smaller size amusement park on the Boardwalk. Best deal is the mega 220 tickets for $130 as of now. Pricing is way better then Moreys Pier is right now and that's why we went. Moreys is $250 for 255 tickets, sad because that's changed a lot since we last went. Castaway has some good rides for kids and adults of all age ranges. Rides are similar to what Moreys Pier offers , but Moreys does have a few bigger coasters. Overall it was a fun time for the price .

So fun! Everything was great. Such fun rides for adult and children! Will be back

The kids always have a good time here and waits are not long. It's not a place for thrill ride seekers but it's good for families with kids. Prices are obviously boardwalk prices, but if you have $ to spend purchasing the larger books of tickets does save on ticket prices. If you have young kids, like 2-4, I highly recommend the big slide. Kids love that

We always love the rides. There is a lot to see and do. The train is always a nice ride. Kids love the roller coaster.

We went on MDW. I expected HUGE lines. It was organized, fun and friendly all around.

We bought all of our tickets before hand which was good because the line for tickets was long. Tickets were kind of expensive but there was a lot to do and lots of ways to use tickets. I recommend because it was very fun. There were also not long lines at all.

Bought my grandson tickets for Easter, we finally got to use them. Pier is so much more then it appears to be. We took the train first so we got to see everything before using up tickets on rides that he didn't care for. After seeing what they had to offer I was upset I did not have another adult with me to watch him so I could enjoy myself on a couple bigger rides. They have rides for every age and level of excitement. Sunset was a bonus in background.

We love visiting here with the kids. So many good rides, staff is friendly and there are plenty of them. Pricing is better than Gillian's I think. They both had swing rides, it's 2 tickets cheaper here. There are so many fond memories from years passed. As long as I can remember we've been here, and through it all, this is a great staple of what the Ocean City boardwalk embodies. Centrally located, you can park at either end and find it. My 4 year old went for her firstl coaster ride, Wild waves, she scream

The best thing to do in Ocean City, an unforgettable experience. All the ride operators are nice, everything is safe, funny and must try!!

The rides are amazing. Highly recommend "Gale Force" for extreme thrill seekers. But, they still have rides that everybody will enjoy. That being said, the prices are not cheap, there can be long lines sometimes, it can be crowded, and it opens at 4:00 PM, unlike other theme parks. Very good theme park overall, though.

It has been so long since I had youngsters to take two Ocean City and the Amusements to my surprise this whole place was rebuilt I did hear about the fire but this place was amazing I could not believe the amount of rides that they put in this small space and the prices were amazingly reasonable I would definitely recommend come down and check it out if you have not been here in a while my grandchildren had such fun I'm so glad we took the time to bring them down here

Each year we spend a week in Ocean City and always go to Castaway Cove for the awesome rides and all the nice people. Last year my company lost their iphone and the manager went out of his way to find and mail it back to them.

Good, not great. Don't buy too many tickets at once. Clean bathrooms. Better for kids under 12.

Place is great but the staff is very unprofessional. First the payment machine didn't process the payment, which ok it happens but then it was a back n forth with the cashier. 15 min later, we go to leave and the staff at the door is not so nice to my kids. Statements of not having paid before they try candy is insane considering we paid over 300$ in candy ??. Wild honestly. When I approach the staff they tell me oh we assumed they were alone. So don't ask them where the parent was instead proceed to be rud

As always a great place for families we have been going here for 10+ years and are never disappointed can't wait to see the rebuild after the fire

We were disappointed to find out that they changed one of my kids favorite rides, the Double Shot. It was replaced with an exact copy however the ride function is slow and no longer gives the thrill it used to. We won't waist our tickets on that one any more. Tickets are pricey especially with 2 kids able to go on all the rides. Kids love it though. Gives us something to do at night while vacationing in Ocean City.

Fun! Tickets don't expire and if you buy at least the minimum package amount, you get coupons to stores on the boardwalk. Definitely worth getting at least the minimum package.

Our kids range in age from 8 to 15 and they all look forward to Castaway Cove. No admission fee. Tickets never expire, so we always buy the book of 200 when we need to and roll whatever's left into the next year's visit. Lots of rides including a thrill coaster. That coaster is really the only ride we ever have to wait in a long line to ride; most other lines are very quick, Can't beat the location...one of my kids tires of rides quickly, so we'll leave and do some shopping or walk the beach and then come b

This is by far the best amusement park in Ocean City! I'm so glad I get to visit every year! Plus, the Gale Force is my #1 favorite ride at Castaway! I could ride that coaster all day long if I wanted to! So it's fun to go by yourself, with friends, or family! Since I really love this place, I would be very sad if this place didn't exist! Also it's such a great atmosphere to be in; even though during the summer can be extremely busy with wait times, but it actually goes pretty fast! I like to either play on

Very affordable, clean and many rides to choose from. Will be going back even though I live closer to Seaside. Well worth the extra trip!

I've witnessed multiple kids now get hurt on the log flume and the teenage workers just shrug their shoulders

I usely go to wonderland pier tried playland they have a lot more rides for older kids kids had a blast.. tickets are reasonable.

Hey guys and girls, good evening. If you have a family or just a desire to go to a super neat beach, or as the locals call it, "the shore", (so cute!) Then this is a place for you! Not only are you guaranteed to have fun but you get to pay taxes for like everything you buy in stores and stuff! If you want to park your car within 315 miles of the ocean, it'll cost you know more than maybe your first three kids. Okay, A buddy of mine did have to give up his wife and all four of his kids, but he did get to Par

Went there with my family. We had a blast watching our grandson enjoying life.

We went on the last day of Summer . Finally got there lol . The place was great. The kids had a lot of fun

On of my child and I must visit places ... We Love it. Great for families .

This is a fun amusement park for all ages but it is a bit pricey. The rides were all functional and fun ? albeit a warning: some rides, especially the swings, are quite scary and dizzying. I would definitely return here because it's a really fun amusement facility on the boardwalk but just a bit pricey.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
