Playland Arcade Rosedale Center

Playland Arcade Rosedale Center

Reviews Summary

Reviews present a mixed experience. Many appreciate the arcade's appeal for young children, with easy-to-win duck games and a generally clean environment. However, issues like malfunctioning machines, unfair claw games, and unexpected charges frustrate visitors. Some highlight reasonable pricing and working games, while others criticize poor maintenance, expensive play costs, and unreliable card systems. Families with toddlers enjoy the atmosphere, but older kids and adults often find limited value. Service delays and cleanliness concerns occasionally dampen the experience. Overall, it’s a hit for young kids but inconsistent for others.

Customer Reviews

I rate this a three because it was great for my toddler, but I must say it isn't worth more than a swing through. We drove 18 miles for it because I took a gamble, so you don't have to! The claw machine with the squishy is super easy, but not the bagged ones. The claw machine with the giant circular stuffed things is bogus. At $2.00 a pop, I landed each grab perfect and the claw just unravels each time. I do get it because those are tagged and probably not cheap. The Mario and the halo games are super fu

There are two arcades, one on the upper floor one on the lower floor. One arcade only has about 5 machines and the reload card reader doesn't work if you filled up your card at the other arcade which is kind of disappointing. The games were pretty expensive for not having a better chance at winning. The slippery claws made it hard to grab anything and the only guarantee you have is the $2 rubber duck game. It was great for my 3 year old who was there for the colors and noise. But my 13 year old spent his $2

Reasonable prices and all the machines work. Quality over quantity of games. I like it.

This is a cute little arcade and perfect for my 2-year old gran baby. I love the fact that young kids can always win when they play the duck machine. The arcade is always clean, and usually not terribly busy, so perfect for little ones.

We had a lot of fun once we figured out the card method. I was surprised at the garbage laying all over the place though... not sure if it's not maintained during the day or not but my 2 year old couldn't handle it and we cleaned it up.

Fun place to be but had to wait for 45 minutes to an hour to get someone out to get the prizes for the tickets but the games were entertaining. My kids had fun!!!!

Spent $5 was only able to play one game because the machine credited me for all $5 never got any game play other than 1 game

The place is great for 80s arcade machines take a trip down memory lane and at 15dollars for an all day pass it's too good to pass up

This place randomly charged my credit card when I haven't been here in months. Had to get a new card.

Machines took money without working

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
