Players Sports Grill & Arcade

Players Sports Grill & Arcade

Reviews Summary

Players Sports Bar offers a mixed experience with generally positive ratings. Many praise the garlic fries, burgers, and ocean views, while service quality varies—some servers excel (like Roberto and Sienna), others disappoint. The arcade and relaxed atmosphere are highlights, but food inconsistency (overcooked meals, dry dishes) and occasional poor service (slow orders, incorrect drinks) draw criticism. Prices are considered fair by some, high by others. Ideal for drinks and views, but dining experiences can be hit-or-miss.

They literally gave me a smashed burger! I've had a better burger at am/pm! Plain smashed with jalape?os inside. Not to mention the handful of fries on the side. Best part was their Blue moon on tap. Wouldn't recommend eating here

Our server was great, especially for us having a big group. I ordered a clam chowder and the flavor wasn't the best. It was more on the watery side and lacked flavor. Someone at my table and ordered a burger and it was very oily. I do love how there is a good amount of seating, both inside and out with outdoor heaters. I was a bit bummed that their changing table in the women?s bathroom is stuck & you aren't able to pull down. Overall, I wouldn't come here if you are looking for a good quality tasting meal

Came here with my husband after our trip to Alcatraz. We had a good time and the food was really good. The staff there were really nice.

I was at Fisherman's Wharf and wanted something simple and hearty before I left. This place hit the spot. Quick and easy. We had a Player's Burger and a Pulled Pork Sandwich both w/ Fries. The only problem we had was the constant chill from the breeze blasting through the doorway! Other than that, it was perfect! Definitely recommended if you want something simple.

Purchased 2 takeaway coffee from this establishment and I have never been so insulted by a staff member in any place i have ever visited. The young blonde lady who served us was fantastic as for the other young lady who served us the coffee I won't repeat the words that came.out of her mouth. She should not be serving customers. The takeaway coffee we were served was around 2 mouth fulls in a huge takeaway cup. Uterly disgusted as we payed $14us for 2 mouth fulls of coffee.

Excellent. I don't usually review. Great service by Scarlett.

I came in with my family last night 2/27 and was highly disappointed. My drink came out wrong and when I told the bartender he was extremely argumentative and said well that's how it was rang up. I asked could I get a side of tajin and I would just wipe the sugar off the rim instead of asking for a remake. The dude almost threw the cup across the table with so much attitude. After that it took almost 30/45 minutes just for our food order to even be taken. I ordered a medium steak and it came almost burnt. W

Average sports bar and grill, just on the boardwalk pier. Good place to watch sports and get some food if you are in the area.

Best Burger for me ?? Great and nice staff, delicious foods Lovely drinks I offer them wholeheartedly ??

I just missed our original bartender by a few seconds, the new bartender tried helping us just now, I had to ask him to clean the bar, he wiped it down, left hella food on the bar still, we decided to leave. This place really doesn't get the customer service part. O-Riley, get it together bud.

The food is just fine, feels like a touristy place. The service is quick but not everything in the menu was available, most of the craft/special beers are not available The Philly cheese steak sandwich had minimal amount cheese though wagyu burger was better than expected

What an amazing service! Only one bartender playing with the whole area!

Great place if you are into games. Loved the tiki bar in there. Food was good. Cant complain for being in a such busy location. Burger and fries were amazing. Service was faster than we expected. Definitely would recommend this place if you are in this area.

The service was very disappointing, staff were hard to find and we had to ask for straws twice and one of our drinks was forgotten. The food was okay but the burger was overcooked and the flatbread was very dry. Coffee was very expensive.

The view and service is great here! The food is just ok and same with the beer but we enjoyed ourselves and would go back just for the amazing view and good service.

Only came for the arcades which were extremely expensive. Definitely a run down version of Dave and Busters from a game perspective. Servers when we entered were friendly.

It is wonderful to have a beer and a burger without losing your wallet.

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, however their service is below average. Our waiter just didn't have good social skills and struggled with time management when it came to taking our order and taking our payment. Expect to spend at least 90 minutes there around dinner time with a party of four. That's just ordering one round of drinks and dinner. We ended up going somewhere else with better service for drinks afterwards.

would not recommend you go here. Bowling alley broke down repeatedly and we had to wait for them to fix it and it would sometimes reset the score which was very annoying. The balls were filthy and some had the finger holes broken for the love of Greg The bathroom had no running water nor toilet paper. Smoking was also allowed indoors and coupled with bad ac & air ventilation, it was horrible . Look , when you think about this place it's like peter taking from Paula

Had lunch here, crab sandwich w/ garlic fries were really good. Salad had some spicy sauce that I didn't really know before ordering. The mango slices were really hard. The clam chowder was good, not the best on the Pier but good.

Perfect place to come by and watch a sporting event. There are TV's everywhere! Literally! They also have a little spot with arcade games you can play with! It's a nice little walk down Pier 39, almost all the way to the end. Food was okay, I had a New York steak and it honestly wasn't all that :( (this is why I am not giving it five stars). Other than that, a hell of a pale with great atmosphere. Definitely recommend it!

We stopped in and had the fish and chips and fish tacos The batter was so tasty, and the tacos had so much flavour, cheap beers and an awesome set out Staff are lovely. 5 stars

Good food and huge screens showing games. Only open at 11:00 on Saturday I was told so not a great option to watch the early football games. The kids playing arcade were loud. Great if you have kids, not so much if you don't. It was a bit chilly with the doors being constantly open. I have had better sour dough bread though.

I proposed to my fianc? on 4/14/24, and I couldn't have done it without help from the staff at Pier 39 Players Sports Grill & Arcade! One part of the proposal involved having my fianc? win a custom plush modeled after her pet dog (containing clues to the next part of the proposal), which was displayed in the prize cage at the arcade. I had reached out to James and Joe to see if they wanted to be involved in my engagement proposal and he was more than happy to help me out and find ways to make the day run as

What an amazing place to find?! Went there yesterday for drink and football and had the blessing of meeting Sienna and, then, Owen. Sienna quickly, efficiently and very kindly took care of us. Her drinks were delicious and her attention to detail and the customer service aspect was impeccable. They were so good that we returned tonight for a drink, appetizer and entrees. All were delicious. Owen checked in on us yesterday and today. Next level customer service!!!! Believe me, we're going back tomorr

Food was good. Only thing is that we asked for our burgers to be well done, and this seems to be difficult in America. The meat is always a bit dry. Garlic fries were pretty intense. We were followed around by the smell of garlic for a good while after. I hope the people on the boat to Alcatraz didn't notice too much. Lemonade was amazing, and the waiter was the best ?? Also, there are so many screens, all cool sports to see. Soccer, football, basketball and even snowboarding, really cool! But wrestling was

Food and service were Ok, just limited menu. Nice view of the sea. Decent size of plates.

Sebastian and other crew are super friendly and nice. Menu will meet the wishes of any picky eater! Nice views especially on the street performers stage! Nice place come visit!

The worst burger I've ever had in US. Mac&Cheese was on similar level. Our waitress just flew once yelling ?everything OK?? and didn't even stop by. Wifi was OK.

It's so hard to leave this review but the drinks made by Roberto were delicious, I am having a Pina colada and it is 10/10. The food however was terrible. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken (chicken was an extra charge) and received dry inedible chicken and undercooked pasta. My boyfriend had the fish tacos with his pico de Gallo on the side, and received dry fish and barely any cabbage. It was overly drenched in sauce too, almost as if to hide the bad quality food. I will probably still come

Best hamburger!! Very nice view. Small portion on fish dish but excellent cooking. They have to work on costumer service.

We had a wonderful time at Player?s Sports Grill & Arcade during our stay in San Francisco A month and a half ago. The food was excellent, the prices were reasonable, but what truly made the experience special was the outstanding service from Sebasti?n. He was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and made our dinner even more memorable with his thoughtful gestures. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal in a pleasant atmosphere, and a big thank you to Sebasti?n for making our evening

Great location on pier 39 this bar has an interesting mix of live sports on the 100+ TVs in the bar section along side a full arcade section of the venue. We ordered nachos, wings and a few local beer varieties and found all to be quite delightful. The prices were quite affordable and the service was quite good so overall it was a very pleasant experience.

I stayed in the wharf for 7 days as a tourist from Canada. I familiarized myself with my favourite spots to eat/drink and players was one of the ones I liked due to the street show behind and the end of the pier so less crowded as well as public washroom nearby. It is in a great location. However I wanted to come for a couple of drinks and enjoy their fire table for the evening. I was denied seating at this fire table due to not ordering food at that very moment. We had just had lunch, and were planning to

Good alternative to the very busy restaurants in the pier 39. The sandwiches are pretty good and the entry is tiny but with good taste. There is an arcade too, if you like to play you can find a very good amount of old and new machines.

Food is OK here. Service could be improve. Felt like it's not very welcoming. Arcade games are expensive, very expensive compare to D&B. Well, it's a tourist place here. You pay 2x or 3x for games more compare to D&B.

There are NO PINBALL MACHINES! I REPEAT...NO PINBALL!!! We came into the city so that my friend's son could play pinball. The website say that they have machines and even specify which ones, however, we got there and there were none. We even asked. Zero pinball.

Good place with decent seating capacity. Food is not so great but this is one of places having seating capacity so a good option to seat and eat.

Delicious food and drink and a family fun center, great modern game selection, it's pricey but this is a high dollar area after all, if you were lookin' to have a 'blowout' this'd be the place, matey.??

We stopped in for lunch. The garlic fries are delicious, and highly recommended. We had bbq pizza and Baja tacos. Our server, Tavon, was awesome! If we didn't live in Alaska, I would plan on returning regularly. Thanks for a great experience.

May seem a little expensive, but it is definitely worth it. The garlic fries and burger are 10/10 for me (about 18$) and Alfredo with chicken a 10/10 for my wife (about 25$). Games were a really cool aspect and the atmosphere is great for a date night. Expect to pay about 55$ for two people. Roberto was our server both times we came and was super friendly and inviting.

Players Sports Bar was pretty decent. I'd give it 3.5 if I could... The food was good (I had the fish & chips, my wife had the pull pork BBQ) and we asked to sit in the back with views of the water. Without the views, it'd just be a noisy, Hawaii-themed arcade that serves bar food but we went for lunch on a Friday afternoon and many tables were open. Again, we were glad we asked to sit in the back because the view of the water was phenomenal (image attached).

The luau lounge in the back, is a perfect getaway from the tourist trap that is Pier 39. Beautiful atmosphere, with a view of the ocean, live music, happy hour, and best of all, you won't find a crowd! Very relaxed, and the food was good. Perfect for a break, you will not be disappointed!

Stopped in for a quick old fashioned that did not disappoint!

Great views from he windows inside. Lots of games. Good service. Be careful of the gull outside. He's a tough cookie.

I drank a pinacolada, it was fantastic. The view is wonderful. The service very good.

Got the Chicken tenders and fries they were delicious! Our waiter was a super friendly person and he even helped my mother decide on either Mac and Cheese or Chile (she got a quesadilla). 10/10 great time.

It's a relaxed site with a good decoration, but I think the portions can be better. The beer options are good.

The restaurant itself looked very nice and clean. The wait staff didn't pay you much attention since there were so many people, but they weren't rude or anything. I just got some chicken tenders, fries, and a burger. My food tasted well except for the hamburger bun which lacked taste. The meat made up for it though and the food all together was pretty good. The real downside was the cost of the food. I have been to many places in San Francisco area. San Francisco is already very expensive, but this place wa

The Burger Club was very tasty. In addition, there weren't many people, so we enjoyed in a very quiet atmosphere.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This place had the worst service I think I have ever received from a restaurant. After we ordered, the server never came back and my water sat empty for the remainder of the time. He never came back to check on us, until finally bringing the check. I paid, and left a tip. When I returned home I noticed that my tip had been adjusted and did not reflect the amount that I had written down. I have called and left messages for the general manager and the managing general part

Probably the worst meal I've ever had. Korean short rib was bone and gristle, fried calamari was basically battered dust. Ginger beer wasn't ginger beer. Oh, they got the bottled water right, it was about the only thing that was edible. Should be embarrassed to serve such appalling food.

The food was very good and they make excellent drinks 5 $tarrz....

What an awesome find. Go all the way into the bar on the water. Please ask if Melissa has a shift cos she is totally the best host I've encountered!! Takes amazing care. Always with a smile. And what a smile! She knows everything to order and to have fun?! And ask her to get you her favorite cocktail? you will be gobsmacked! Great place. Great food. Best service. Love it. Love her !!

Clean place, great customer service and decent prices. The burger was big and juicy.

Staff was checked out/irritated, our one basket of fries took nearly 20 mins and tasted like old cooking oil, and manager had a weird reaction and power trip over the use of two outlets (directly next to our table and out of the way) to charge our phones. Between the menu and space itself, it's obviously just a terrible tourist trap. We should know better and looking at the rest of the reviews now, service is a clear and consistent weakness. All we wanted was to watch the basketball game, have a beer, and c

Got the table with the fireplace. Lovely atmosphere! Fried green beans are delicious!

Oh man! I entered this place for a free BOGO offer from Big Bus & randomly ordered Irish Coffee - I was amazed by the flavor I got ?? Long island also didn't disappointed me !

One of our favorite stops for a cocktail. Make sure to go to the bar in the luau lounge. This last time Lyndsee took amazing care of us. Great recommendations and wonderful attitude.

Really cool place to hang out. The games are cool (that gigantic Galiga tho) and the drinks, while a little pricey, are super good.

The service was ok, the server was very attentive, but the food took a while at a time they weren't busy and the portions were small. Not really worth the money, but the Bloody Mary kind of saved the day here.

During my recent visit, I sought out a suitable location to watch football games. While the service provided was satisfactory, the culinary offerings fell short of expectations. Additionally, instead of honoring our request to view the desired football games, the establishment inexplicably switched the broadcast to a bullriding competition.

The bar at the front has wall to wall US sports memorabilia and plenty of places to sit and people watch. However if you pass through the arcade that is in the middle of the place you end up in the back looking out across the San Francisco bay. The food may seem a little expensive for a lunch time snack but oh my god is it value for money. I had the pasta and my wife had the rack of ribs. When the ribs arrived we both asked the same question which was....How big was the cow? The view and food combination fo

Our server was fantastic, we sat by the outdoor fireplace and had a tasty clam chowder bread bowl..but the real winner was the garlic fries! They are soooooo good!!!

Spare yourself the disappointment and frustration. Upon arrival we were told we were required to purchase food, no hello or welcome. The food was gross and super poor quality. Took nearly 20 minutes to order drinks although 3 servers told us they would be right with us even though they were not busy. When drinks finally arrived they were wrong. Second round of drinks were also wrong. Three people standing at the host stand not doing anything while a poorly dressed manager encouraged loud personal

The best garlic fries I have ever had, the atmosphere was great as well as the staff. There is a fire pit area outside where you can sit and eat and people watch at the same time.

We got the clam chowder in sour dough bowl. Don't get it!!!! Does NOT taste like clam chowder and doesn't taste like sour dough. I think they are selling a product to tourist that have no idea what either SHOULD taste like. VERY sad

Cool place for gather around family too. They got arcades. Bring wallet open as drinks are good but not the chippest. Staff is good

Nice to sit by the fire for a beer.

Painkiller drink good good staff

Stopped in relax after a busy day traveling. Our server was Alyssa H. She was friendly, attentive, & made good recommendations. Great spot & great service. Thanks!

Best seats are upfront. Beer selection is good.

On August the 12th after having a great day at Alcatraz my son, his girlfriend my wife and I decided to walk to pier 39 from 33 to enjoy a nice meal thinking that there are some good restaurants there. Boy were we wrong!!! After waiting an extended period of time waiting for our horrible waitress we ordered drinks. My wife received a warm bottle of corona and a cold glass which doesn't make the beer any better. She sent it back later to receive a mixed drink that was basically juice. My wife ordered a chees

The tiki lounge at the end of the pier has some great views of the bay. The nachos were pretty good.

We came here as a stop off to eat during our day in San Francisco and at the beginning we were delighted with the service from the staff as we needed to charge up some items as a child in our party needed her electronics sorted to continue our trip around the city and they allowed us to charge them. We were served a couple drinks and some food, the food was okay and the drinks were lovely but halfway through one of the staff got annoyed we were charging our items and went off in one after us being told it w

This place is awesome! It has the largest Halo game I have ever seen! This game alone is a great reason to stop by here while going through pier 39!

Food and service was great! Not many menu items to choose from.

My boyfriend and I went to pier 39 looking for a easy meal and some fun, when coming up to the tiki bar we met Jackson the Bartender. He was very sweet and recommended some really good drinks, when it came to ordering it was a little complicated since he had to run back and forth to his manager to ask if wheat was in the product since I have celiacs disease. Which was really amazing he made sure everything I ate and drank had no trace of gluten and also made some really good pina coladas. If you are looking

Great place for just a drink, and if your hungry food is fantastic. The staff work so hard, and very friendly

The local ciabatta tastes bad and they gave me my cold hamburger

Good, hot food. Amazing fries. Friendly and kind (and funny!) service.

Good food!! Alot of drinks to choose from. Fun arcade for all ages.

Our server Breanna was super attentive and awesome with the kids, even though when we walked in on an early Monday afternoon it looked like she was holding the fort all by herself as hostess, bartender, and waitress!

We had the coconut shrimp and each a cocktail. The shrimp was good! The cocktails, not so much. Definitely not worth the price of them. We came back and played in the arcade though and had a ton of fun!

We stopped in here and expected a fairly cheap n nasty experience however we were pleasantly surprised.....the food here is decent and you can't beat the pier atmosphere. No great waiting times. Not a bad experience overall....??

Our table ordered a well cooked New York steak and it was served raw (no kidding ) after waiting for 1 hour. By then, everyone else in our party (we were 9) had already ate. We complained about the state of the steak, asking to have it properly prepared but then we were told that the kitchen was closed ?????

Food and service were absolutely terrible. Waiter seemed very annoyed to serve us. Our appetizers came out with the main when we asked for them first. The wings were the best part of the meal but not very hot. We had to ask for napkins, utensils and plates. I had the fish and chips. The oil in the frier had not been changed in a while. The tarter sauce was like water. Fish and pork tacos were not very impressive. Don't waste your money here as there are many other good restaurants in the area

On my visit, we walked into the arcade with our almost two year old daughter and a friend we brought to CA with us on a trip, and the place seemed really empty. We were greeted with a confirmation of a 10 minute wait and we agreed. After 20 minutes they got us to a table finally. We didn't even get spoken to for our drink order until about 30 minutes went by, and asking about their coffee drinks with the section they have on the menu, and nothing available but plain coffee. Alright, okay. That's cool, but

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
